Lake Daylesford is a man-made lake that was completed in 1930. It features a restaurant, picnic areas, a playground and footpath. The lake offers stunning views and is perfect for activities such as walking, kayaking, canoeing and swimming. There is a bridge that divides the lake into two parts which takes around 20-25 minutes to walk each part at an easy pace.
Very good town ..just 70km from Melbourne. Good outdoor activities area along side lake and one can explore many local country side activities as well.

Simply beautiful even on a rainy day. The Autumn leaves of red an gold created a breathtaking atmosphere. The amenities around the lake and car park makes this a pleasant picnic spot. Take the time to look around. Plan ahead and enjoy.

Beautiful lake - for walking around, swimming, kayaking...
We stayed in an airbnb on the lake, and had dinners on the lake - all beautiful views. The waters are calm enough (went in December) for canoeing, saw some points where people were swimming. There's a bridge that 'divides' the lake in 2 parts - walking around takes about 20-25 minutes each part at an easy pace. Can see the Lakehouse, visit the Wombat Flats mineral springs and park en route. Paved and well formed paths for prams and wheelchairs as well as leisurely walkers and joggers. Greenery coverage in some parts, direct sunlight in others with information panels about its history along the way.

Lake Daylesford: A Serene Escape
Nestled just a short drive from Melbourne, Lake Daylesford offers a tranquil retreat that's perfect for a day trip. The journey there is as scenic as the destination itself, especially during the vibrant fall season when the foliage is spectacular.
The lake features easy, well-maintained walking trails that are just right for a leisurely stroll or a more active trek. Facilities like public toilets and snack bars are conveniently available, making it easy for families and groups to enjoy their visit without any hassle.
The atmosphere at Lake Daylesford is peaceful, with a touch of whimsy provided by the local ducks—watch your snacks around them! Whether you're there to unwind on a quiet summer evening or enjoy a lively family picnic, the lake sets the perfect scene.
With its stunning natural beauty and accessible amenities, Lake Daylesford is a delightful destination year-round. Just a heads-up: the approach roads can be a bit rough, so drive carefully. If you're in Victoria and looking for a picturesque place to relax and recharge, this lake is well worth the visit.

Lovely, calm lake that is good for picnic or family gathering. Could also easily fit a 3km walk in to cover both the big and small lakes.

This is must visit place in Victoria. It is just a 1 and half hour drive from Melbourne and you will find this amazing place. I visited there 6 am in the morning and the view was just amazing. You can bring your dog too. There is a 40 min walking trail and you can enjoy the beautiful nature while taking that walk. I recommend to visit here early in the morning so you can see amazing sun rise and have a morning walk. This is one of the magical walk I took. I visited here on Friday and early morning so there were only few residents who came for walk. And also you can see many birds near the lake

What a stunning location! Day to remember. Was beautiful for a dip, we even made it halfway around the lake Daylesford hike. Was mapped out with yellow posts that were fairly easy to find.
Definitely recommend visiting the lake, if you do the hike wear long pants, hiking boots and take supplies.

We went to the lake on a sunny and the views were amazing. A great place for a picnic with nearby parks with BBQ facilities. Kids had fun watching ducks. Walking trail around the lake was amazing. There was a night light show going on that moment so if you are reading this go and have a look.
Be careful in the drive as the road was bit bumpy.

Worth a visit every season! The lake is beautiful and clean, with what appears to be a balanced wildlife as well. The walk around both lakes is very enjoyable and easy enough for all fitness levels

Idyllic lake, great for a stroll with the family. There are a few circuit options depending on the length you want and all paths are accessible and wheelchair friendly. The parking gets quite full closer to noon and the barbecues get booked up on the weekend so plan accordingly! Would recommend a stopover on the jetty for the best view.

Did you know lake Daylesford has its own love lock bridge? The shimmering waters here make it the perfect destination for a picnic or bbq. Don’t forget to take a sip from the famous mineral springs or you can even go for a swim.
Passing Clouds is a family-owned winery with a fascinating origin story. Originally started by Graeme and Sue, the winery is now led by their son Cameron. Located in Bendigo and Macedon Ranges, Passing Clouds offers superb wines meant to be enjoyed with great food and good company. The cellar door provides a laid-back space for wine tasting, while the dining room offers a communal lunch experience reminiscent of sharing a meal at a friend's house.
Amazing wines, amazing service, amazing well thought out food! Left full but not bloated. Chef only works off a fire pit and the mains we received were incredibly well cooked, a true testimony to the chefs talent.
Staff members were very considerate as was the house sheep dog Magnus!

Have had their meals here quite a few times now. Always have to book. But it's worth it! It's a 3 course set menu. You can choose for them to match the wines or you can order your own. Either way it's a truly delicious meal. Never walked away unhappy.
It's a We stopped on the way home from Hepburn Springs. A lovely little winery, you can book in for a three course meal ahead of time but we just stopped for some tastings. Tastings cost or you can buy a bottle of their lovely wines instead. I've been a couple of times and always walked away with a couple bottles of wine. The outdoor area is beautifully designed and is a great spot in lovely weather to look out over while sipping wine.
Stopped here again! Bought more delicious wine. Never fails to impress and not far from Melbourne. More wine in the car.

Very quaint winery set on a picturesque hill. We didn't eat here just went for the wine tasting. We had exceptional service. You could choose between a standard (10$) or premium wine tasting (15). We purchased some Graeme Shiraz, & a Riesling. The food is meant to be fantastic we look forward to revisiting next time

Wow! It's a simple word reserved for the moments that simply cannot be better! Let me just say our food was ... Superb! Three courses of feed me, flavors, delicacy, ample quantities, every thing fitting together straight from the oven, the veal and the chicken dishes were the heros but it was all just as amazing. The intimacy of the venue allows the staff to attend to every need, which they did quietly and expertly. I was a visitor from SA with local friends. Simply lovely in every respect - forgot to mention the wine but we bought a cheeky half dozen of deliciousness!

The food was delicious, the cured meats were very nice and the patè was soft and creamy. The lamb was our favourite. It is not the cheapest of places to eat but the food so nice. Very close to the main town of daylesford. You can pass by and just do some wine tasting if you like, if you want to have a meal bookings are essential. You can't pass on the deserts

We stopped by hoping for lunch and a glass of wine on the way back to Melbourne. We found the dining room closed and a group just leaving. Being hungry, we almost left. But, we were a bit curious about wine from this area, and the gentleman behind the counter just seemed genuinely nice.
We’re very glad we stayed. We tasted every wine available, and every one was solid. Some feature characteristics of their varietal (eg fruit), some focus on the land (terrier). We learned a bit of backstory about each one from Bern as he poured them. Tanya, who works in the vineyard, happened to stop by and share a bit about the history as well.
We left with wine and memories.
…as for lunch, Bern pointed us to the Cosmopolitan in Trentham, but that’s a different review.
Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens offers a serene experience with its display of trees and flowers, shaded paths, picnic areas, and stunning views from Pioneer Tower. It is located in the charming town of Daylesford, which also boasts attractions such as an extinct volcano and a 19th-century mansion-turned-convent-gallery. The garden features ancient trees that create a simple yet beautiful ambiance.
Fantastic location for an easy walk, with a few gentle hills and some sections with steps. We visited in early/mid spring and the flower and foliage were an amazing sight. There are plenty of spots to sit and relax and tonnes of photo opportunities. The Pioneer Memorial Tower was a great find with stunning views from the top. Keep in mind the stairs climbing to the top of the tower are steep and narrow.

A lovely botanic garden, very simple with very old, big trees. The lookout has a nice view from the top. Though I wouldn’t recommend going up or down whilst passing people at the same time, as it a very tight fit and hard to get around.
There is a scenic drive you can do around the garden, which takes you through a loop around.

Great place for a picnic and relaxing time since it’s not as busy as lake Daylesford. Follow scenic drive to the parking lot. There’s a tower at the end of the road and we can go up the tower. The garden is not very big but peaceful. Cafe and toilets are available.

If you visit Daylesford town don't forget to visit this botanical garden. Either you can park your car in the car park and take a walk to enjoy the view and can take a scenic drive along the way. It will take like 1 hour to cover the park if tourists decided to take a walk. I recommend to visit it in the morning as you can enjoy the sun rising view too. Part of the Sunday Daylesford Market - can book tickets there or online beforehand. Went in December, $18 per adult return to go out to Musk and back. Beautiful vintage train. Due to works, the train went out 20 minutes to Musk, we had 10 minutes to walk around the station there, then back on the train to Daylesford. The windows could open for fresh air, and views included hills, farmland, cows, many bales of hay and leafy greenery - great for adults, children and families.
The Daylesford Sunday Market is a long-standing tradition, featuring over 130 stalls selling a variety of items such as antiques, plants, produce, jewelry, and clothing. It's run by volunteers from non-profit organizations and has been a popular spot for over 40 years. Visitors can find fresh produce, handmade goods, local art, and even enjoy petting pens with billy goats, puppies, bunnies and chickens.
Heaps of parking, great atmosphere, great food, gorgeous stalls of home made items and secondhand items. Cute little train ride for all ages. So glad we are able to come and experience it again after so long. Also head to hepburn springs for a beautiful walk.

Always fun. Although, I was disappointed to find the local celebrations store stocked herbal lore wine cheaper than I purchased at the market. I think some stall holders have forgotten what 'market' means.
I'd like to see some more organic clothing and more handmade jewellery too. There were some excellent jewellery but it seems the food stalls have increased and market stalls declined other then the regulars.

As new "part-time locals" we'd been told how good Daylesford Cider was, and we weren't disappointed.
I loved the cider paddle, giving me an opportunity to try, and compare, the various ciders, while the food ordered, of share plates and pizzas, was delicious.
We particularly liked the clear instructions for bringing dogs along, ensuring that those present were kept well under control and didn't interfere with the enjoyment by others.

Excellent Cidery and very warm and friendly atmosphere. Lots of options for drinks including coffee and non alcoholic. Great food with Toasties during the week and pizzas on weekends.
Emma Reid — Google review
Excellent Cider. They have a good variety of ciders available with an array of tastes and flavours. The Cider tasting board was good value and can be shared, with enough cider for multiple people. We arrived on a Weekday and it was very quaint and not busy. Gardens are lovely. I love Cider and have tried many Australian Ciders and Daylesford Cider Company ranks right up there. .

Came across this by accident when we went to the Daylesford market. The cider company had a stall, we tried their products and were impressed. We were told about their restaurant and decided to give it a try. We had the pizza's and they were tasty. We also shared a tasting paddle of their ciders. Will def go there again.
Mary Richards — Google review
Wood fired pizza was good, garlic bread was toasty and loved the cider tasting paddle. Service was ok, partly because they were super busy. FYI there is a 10% venue charge ( extra) on the weekends, which is a bit excessive, when the small sized wood fired pizza is for 27$ and onwards!!

No pizza for Lunch on a Wednesday
Good food
Good service
Good location
Unfortunately the pizza is Thursday to Sunday.
Went to have the pizza, but the toastie was good.
Beer and cocktails were flavourful and cold.
Probably a 4 stars but my fault for not knowing pizza wasn't available.
Thanks

Come rain or shine, you must visit! (I recommend booking. It is busy)
Weather wise, a below par day, but this place was warm and inviting. Quick service via app (QR code).
Sit inside by the fire, or in the pet-friendly marquee.
Salad & pizzas are great.
Try a tasting paddle, then take some home!
7km East of Daylesford.
Todd will look after you like family.
(He sounds Irish - but he is not!
Can you work it out?)

Such a great place. Friendly staff , great food and the ciders were amazing. We got the grazing platter, such a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, chutneys and more. Wood fire pizza was amazing. And the location was absolutely beautiful. A must stop if in daylesford. Thanks guys. Great job
Amazingly talented artists work on display! Great range of sculpture, paintings and glassware. Google says not open Friday, but they are! Worth a visit.

Wombat Flat Mineral Spring is a historical site with settlements dating back to the 1850s. The spring offers naturally aerated water, making it a unique attraction for visitors. The water is rich in mineral content, particularly sulphates, providing a true mineral water experience. The surrounding area is tranquil and picturesque, featuring a beautiful lake and abundant wildlife. It's a peaceful location for leisurely walks and allows dogs on-leash.
This an underrated attraction. The naturally aerated water from the spring never fails to amuse the kids - rare to get natural soda water! The water itself is rich in mineral content esp sulphates - like other springs in the area. So look out for the taste - this is true mineral water.
The small surrounding area is gorgeous and tranquil. The lake, houses facing it and the ducks and geese calmly marching around offer many photo opportunities.
Worth a short visit if you're in the area 👍🏽

Tranquil location for a walk, with lots of birds and wildlife. Dogs allowed on-load which is nice.
Peaceful area to spend some time, and nice if coupled with adjacent walks.
The mineral water tastes okay, however the pump appears to be quite old which may affect the taste.

Nice little area for a picnic/lunch.
There are bins and benches but no toilets on this end. There is a small car park.
The water tastes funky.
Nice area near the car park for dogs to have a little swim.
Dirt paths on either side to walk/cycle around the lake.
Wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.
There were a few ducks with broken/damaged wings, beaks, and legs.

Nice park by the very lovely lake. The mineral water here is somewhat metallic, has a somewhat sulphurous odour (not overwhelming, but noticeable), and isn't overly fizzy.

Lovely nice long walk. Was raining like mad when we went though. Really good all things considered.

Great place to discover the history of Daylesford.
A bit of a thrill walking up the dark narrow staircase and looking over the edge from above.

Great view of the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and the surrounding Daylesford area. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow but well worth the climb! We visited during early/mid spring and the gardens were in full colour. Would be great to visit all year round with the gardens putting on a natural display throughout the seasons.
The well worn steps take you home to the Church where you grew up in, done your sacraments, marriage and Christenings. Only come home now for any relatives doing the same. And of course many funerals now. 💖 Hopefully it keeps its congregation for a long time. The current Priest seems very personable and welcoming.

Only spent a short amount of time in hall, but it is clean and comfortable.
Absolutely love this play centre. It's extremely clean and an assortment of healthy food options at reasonable prices. It's a nice change from expensive playcentres that have unhealthy snacks in the kids faces. The owner was amazing and so friendly. My girls absolutely loved her. The craft classes look amazing. We can't wait to go back to play again!
Lovely historic church with a good view over town.

Nice old-style pool, it's like stepping back into the late 70s! Right behind the main st and very central, there is a big lap pooll and a nice shaded toddler area above, with quite a lot of places to sit in the shade and watch. The facilities are pretty basic but fine, but given it is so close to all the shops and cafes it's easy to duck and get stuff if you need it. Well worth a visit!

A real find. While everything else is 'boutique' or 'spa' in Daylesford, this is a good old fashioned lido for locals. I loved it. The Council should make a substantial investment to bring it back up to standard. Dusty threadbare lawn is not a good advert, at least re-seed and water the lawn. The staff are good and the kiosk prices right for local school kids.

Great outdoor pool. Spotlessly clean. Could do with a bit of a face lift. But the awesome staff, great diving board and cheap icy poles far out weighed it's tired look.. We will definitely be back!!!

Daylesford pool is great for our locals and visitors, however it is lacking shade sails to protect our children against severe sunburn. My son has been burned badly due to inadequate facilities.
No matter how much he applies sunscreen, due to wind or water reflection getting burnt can be inevitable. This needs to be addressed and prioritised so our children have the best protection.
Unlike adults children spend nearly all their time in the water.
The pool is the only summer social activity where our children can go and keep cool locally on hot days in the company of their friends.
The installation of shade sails are a "necessity". Less worry for parents and more enjoyment for our children without severe sun damage to their skin
