Agence Aremiti provides a commendable shuttle service, which is efficient if it matches the ferry schedule. However, there are other options available for different ferries. One drawback of this service is that loading and unloading vehicles can be cumbersome, especially with side-loading instead of front-loading. Passengers board on the second floor in Tahiti without any issues. It takes longer to board and unload vehicles, making it unnecessary for those without cars who would prefer smaller and quicker options.
I took the Aremiti 2 and not the express. It is a 45 minute ferry ride to Moorea. This ferry is a little bit more expensive than the other ferries but have more options to fit schedule,

Great shuttle service. If they are going when you need to go its a good option, realize there are other options for different ferries. It was a bother for me to side load the car into the ship, but the other service is a front load which is easier. They will drive in your car if you are worried about it. passengers load up top second floor in Tahiti.
Trevor Muhlestein — Google review
nothing really too bad about this. The only thing is that it is so big and if you don't have a vehicle this one isn't as necessary as it takes much longer for both boarding and unloading due to the vehicles. It also takes a longer time to reach your destination. If you don't have a vehicle I would opt to take the smaller quicker option.

If you can, take the Tervau company for it's friendlier, humane and more local style customer service. I pay monthly passes for the Aremiti for myself. Took my 14 year old to Papeete for paperwork. Got to the cashier 2 minutes after scheduled departure for the ferry after walking acoss town and waiting having to wait long minutes for the crosswalks. Trucks were still arriving to load onto the ferry, but the agent wouldn't sell my daughter a ticket because the main pedestrian ramp had been closed a minute before. The agent said the secondary ramp isn't allowed anymore for pedestrian access. I see people using it all the time...for passengers with reduced physical mobility. No way to open up the main access of course. Daughter had to take the ferry alone while I work in town. Problem is, next ferry was in an hour and a half and there is no bus in Moorea if she takes the other company. So she's stuck at the ferry station waiting alone. She couldn't return in time for her afternoon classes at school thanks to Aremity "safety" restrictions and rigid service, not to customers, but to ever changing policy. Thanks a lot Aremiti!

Great ferry to Mo’orea. Loved sitting outside but inside is also nice and has AC. There’s a Cafe in the ferry building serving basic stuff and another small one inside the ferry.

Nice vessels and friendly staff. Sufficient on-board catering options available (on the big Aremiti 2) at reasonable prices.

This was a cost effective and efficient way to get to Moorea. The staff were helpful, the air conditioning cold, comfy seating, and the trip, short.

Great ferry to/from Tahiti to other islands. We just went over to Mo’orea. Everything went well on the quick 30 trip. Almost on time departure and arrival…within 5 minutes of schedule. Easy on/easy off. Embarkation and debarkation is via stairs but they do have a lower level for those who can’t manage the staircase. We saw a lot birds, too!! Highly recommend.

Clean, efficient ferry service. I took the ferry round trip from Papeete to Moorea. No need to prebook many options for transport times during the day. Staff was welcoming during boarding process. I checked a bag, I felt a little uncomfortable just dropping my bag with no real security process so I didn’t leave any valuables. The ride was only 30mins, I didn’t use the restroom but they were readily available. Some people brought lunch and ate onboard. The seats are comfortable, plenty windows with great views and with such a large vessel, I did not feel crowded (travel during March).

A great ferry service between Tahiti and Moorea. Booked it online and ticket can be used for any time departure. It runs multiple times a day and is on time. There is a cafe on the terminal which has good snacks. Also a cafe on the ferry. We tried the chocolate cookie on the cafe in the ferry which was delicious. The ride is about 30 min. The ferry is clean and comfortable multiple seating options. The ride is smooth and affordable. The staff is friendly. You check large bags at no additional cost. Best way to travel between Tahiti and Moorea.

This was a much easier experience than I imagined, all the things I feared could go wrong didn't. Easy to find, and although a bit confusing which of several ferries to enter there was really only one way in and helpful people pointing the way to the correct lane. I had a car so I booked on line ahead (easy website to navigate) which seems a good idea because it is possible to fill with cars.

There are s few ferry companies.
You can choose the ferry on your comfort time.
You have to know the size of your rental car before buying a ticket.

First time in a foreign country taking a ferry. Everything is clean, workers were helpful and they have a nice snack bar too.

Pā'ōfa'i Gardens boasts an abundant, lush landscape with an array of trees and paved walking trails that surround ornamental fish ponds. The park's highlights include the Notre Dame Cathedral, Papeete Town Hall, Queens Pond and Tahiti Pearl Museum. The museum exhibits showcase the Tahitian black pearl industry, offering visitors a chance to learn about how these stunning gems are produced and perhaps even purchase a unique souvenir from French Polynesia.
You cannot miss this place and you shouldn't. A lovely park with much life. Always people here and sometimes other activities.
It is very nicely designed and has some amazing views.

Decent little park near the water. View out to shipping docks so not the most picturesque. All the playgrounds were closed. Not sure if they have limited opening hours or just because of the rain earlier. Some nice sculptures and workout equipment. Lots of joggers.

The Robert Wan Pearl Museum is an educational venue that offers exhibits on the history of pearl and jewelry making. Visitors can learn about the Tahitian black pearl industry, including how these gems are harvested and created. The museum also provides visitors with an opportunity to purchase souvenirs from French Polynesia for their loved ones. With informative guides and interesting exhibits, this intimate museum is a must-see destination for anyone interested in pearls or jewelry making.
This was a great spot to get in out of the heat for a bit. The Pearl Museum was amazing. We learned so much, and the video about Pearl farming, its history and sustainability was very educational. Highly recommend a stop hear to learn about Polynesian Heritage and Culture.

Absolutely beautiful pearls!
The store has a nice display on how Pearls are harvested, from traditional pearl divers to modern seeding of oysters and harvesting the pearls.
Also, a nice display of pearl and mother-of-pearl artifacts.
Well worth a visit.
Michael McGehee — Google review
The Robert Wan Pearl Museum in Tahiti provides insights into pearl cultivation through its exhibit, but it feels predominantly like a high-end pearl retail store rather than a pearl museum. While the free admission is a plus, the high prices of the items for sale gives a more commercial vibe.
SALMAN H — Google review
Very informative tour. The guide explained how the pearl was harvested and the exhibits are interesting. It will take you about 15 mins to move around. Spend time to read some articles. And did I mention it's air conditioned - great to escape the afternoon heat for awhile.
Andrew Chwee — Google review
This was a very informative museum on how cultured pearls are made. They have multiple displays and some video presentations. They also have some high end pearl jewelry for sale. Recommend this as one of your stops while in Papeete.

It is more an exhibition next to the shop than a museum, but it is carefully arranged. The history of perls, the "production" and the different qualities are explained. The museum is for free.

Small free museum about Tahitian pearl cultivation. Mostly, it's a retail store with expensive prices. It takes about 15 minutes to see all the exhibits. 3 small rooms, some videos. Explanations in French and English.
Lee Mickus — Google review
This is rather a shop mascarading as a museum, so there are no tickets. To be fair the area of a museum is close to the shop area and if you are not familiar with pearl cultivation process it can be very educational and interesting. Still the main idea is to generate a flow into a shop that takes a central part. Sales assistants are knowlegible and polite, but prices are rather on a high end.
Paulo Vitoriano — Google review
Excellent place to understand the tahitian black pearl industry. Artfully put together and described. The ac does not hurt either! Yes it is a store but extremely low key with excellent products.
Tim Marshall — Google review
Free small but very comprehensive museum covering the pearling industry worldwide, with a focus on French Polynesia. Excellent dioramas with clear explanations. Convenient location a short walk from the centre of Papeete. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. 30 minutes approx to cover the content. Strongly recommend a visit during your walk around town.

Worth stopping by if you are in town. Get a chance to learn a thing or two about the history and origin of pearls. Otherwise you can also buy some fine selections here.
Finally don’t be afraid to ask the staff questions! They are very friendly and eager to share their knowledge.
The Papeete Catholic Cathedral is a combination of historic colonial and Gothic styles, established in 1875, featuring three bells. The cathedral boasts stunning Tahitian-inspired architecture, making it a must-visit destination. It holds the distinction of being the oldest church on the island, with exquisite wooden carvings and unique Tahitian-inspired stations of the cross paintings. Visitors can also take beautiful photographs of this location while admiring its beauty and worshiping alongside locals.
Beautiful Roman Catholic church, located in downtown Papeete. We attended Ash Wednesday noon mass, celebrated in French.

I was in Tahiti on 22nd August, 2017, a beautiful but pretty hot day, and while out site-seeing was looking for the US Embassy (McDonald's) and came across the Papeete Catholic Cathedral, know as Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Papeete. Not at all far from the waterfront, it's a modest but nice Cathedral. It was built by French missionaries in the period 1848-1875 making it the oldest church in Tahiti. Also of interest is that it's the last remaining examples of the early colonial architecture of Papeete. The gaily coloured with red roof, not to mention the distinctive red spire on the church tower certainly make this cathedral a stand out in the centre of the capital.
The Cathedral has benefited from several restorations over the years and it will be interesting to see how it holds its place in years to come as central Papeete develops, as I'm sure that it will.
ps. Walking a little further down the road from the Cathedral I eventually found the rather uninteresting U.S. Embassy.

if you visit the nearby Market, do spend a few minutes here as well. Not a western style cathedral, not an engineering marvel, but very nice. Loved the chicken in the church garden too :)
Bougainville Park is a peaceful and serene green space featuring tree-lined paths, cool grassy areas, and public gardens. It provides an ideal location for relaxation in the shadow with many locals enjoying social activities such as playing chess or spending quality time with friends and family. The park boasts of diverse palm trees including the chambronia m which is quite ancient.
Always visit parks where you visit. You learn a bit of history and enjoy the calmness amongst the hustle and bustle of downtown. It's much bigger than it looks and has a water garden too. This park is on the main drag and worth the stop to appreciate. It's also part of a bigger downtown walking tour.

MANUA Exquisite Tahitian Art is a great gallery that offers beautiful and unique pieces of art such as tiki carvings, ivory/wood carvings, and ukuleles. It's a special place where visitors can find fine art and fun objects to remember their trip to paradise.
Had a great wonderful experience at the store. Was visiting for my honeymoon and got my wife a birthday gift at the same time. The bangle and ring was spectacular and very unique. The sales person was very helpful and informative. I highly recommend a stop in

I was very happy with my visit to the Manua Art as it was not just to browse current offerings, but also about learning more about the Polinesian Culture for different island groups. No doubt you can get a much better deal communicating directly with the artist, but that requires quite an effort. Same time the gallery gives a good opportunity to see works above average quality all at the same place (and time).

Great selection of fine, unique, and superb art from local French Polynesian artists, particularly from the Marquesan Islands. Outstanding indigenous art from tikis to animals to canoes and countless others in multiple media including local woods, shells, bone, mother of pearl. Speak of, there’s also an excellent pearl shop they run next door with a fantastic selection.
Laina and Tahia are incredibly quick to respond by phone or email with any and all questions you may have and will help you along the entire browsing, buying, and pick up or delivery experience. They are both knowledgeable about everything in their shop and are clearly passionate about the art and pearls. Their shop is a must see in your visit to Papeete.
