Woolshed Falls is a popular tourist attraction that offers stunning scenery and a viewing deck for visitors to enjoy. After heavy rainfall, the waterfall area becomes even more picturesque. The site includes a picnic area, ample parking, and nearby bush tracks for exploration. For those who are steady on their feet, it's possible to walk down onto the rock formation near the waterfall face. Visitors can swim or shower in the falls but should be cautious during hot summer days as temperatures can rise quickly.
This place was fantastic! Stunning scenery, easy access for all abilities to the top viewing platform. An easy walk down onto rock formation for anyone steady on their feet. Was lovely to sit around or explore the rock formations on the waterfall face. Absolutely gorgeous was to while away the hours on a sunny day.

First track to the left as you're heading down Woolshed Rd. You will either have to walk it, 4x4 or bike it. It takes you to the top of the falls. You can't get to it from the other side. Great place to do nothing or walk the rocks.

Beautiful falls. When we went on a very hot weekend day, it was busy but didn't feel packed.
It's a very short walk.
Just be careful whilst walking on wet rocks, they can be slippery because of the musk.

Very pretty place only a short drive away from Beechworth. One can just sit quietly on the large rocks and enjoy the views of the falls or wet your feet in the little water pools formed between the rocks.

Beautiful spot. Even overflowing with Christmas holiday enjoyers it is a lovely slice of Australian bush. The falls are beautiful and if you keep your eyes barely open you'll spot plenty of interesting wildlife, especially lizards.

Such a beautiful place for a Sunday morning exploration! Trails weren’t anything strenuous, which was perfect for me. So cool to read about the gold mining history and how it affected the area (what equipments and techniques they used etc.). Will definitely be coming back next time I’m down here 😍

Great waterfall with an extremely easy access. Wheel chair friendly etc etc. Will become crowded at times as it's a popular spot. Great views from dedicated platform.

This is an absolutely stunning place to visit, just to sit in the running water or just wet your feet. The view is fantastic, and you'd get a great view at sunset. Only had a short time there but next time we'll spend longer.

Nice waterfalls. You can go down and swim or shower whatever you want. But the area gets really hot on day time during summer so take precautions. Enough parking and picnic area. Toilet also available. Nice place to enjoy sunny day. You can also do nearby bush tracks.

Really easy waterfall lookout to go to as the platform is right next to the carpark. Then you can go to the top of the waterfall too, just go down the track which is not difficult at all but not accessible for wheelchairs. Wear proper hiking shoes as a caution so you can explore the top of the waterfall safely. Went when it was absolutely pumping. Probably one of the best waterfalls in this area of the state!

Good experience in a hot and sunny day, few individual and families was having fun inside water.
Stone inside the water are very slippery.
Few incidents happen because of that.
So just be very careful going in the water.

Woolshed Falls - So beautiful 🤩
Woolshed Falls is a stunning natural attraction located in the heart of Victoria, Australia. As soon as you arrive, you will be struck by the sheer beauty of the area, with its pristine waterfalls cascading over the rocky terrain. The sound of the water is soothing and the air is fresh and invigorating.
The walk to the falls is well-marked and relatively easy, with a clearly defined path that winds its way through the lush bushland. Along the way, you will see a variety of native flora and fauna, including kangaroos and wallabies.
When you arrive at the falls themselves, the view is simply breathtaking. The water cascades down a series of rocky steps, creating a mesmerizing display of nature's power and beauty. The surrounding cliffs and lush vegetation only add to the overall ambiance of the area.
One of the best things about Woolshed Falls is that it is relatively quiet and peaceful, with few tourists around. This means that you can enjoy the beauty of the area at your own pace, without feeling rushed or crowded.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Woolshed Falls to anyone who loves nature and outdoor activities. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply looking for a relaxing day out in nature, this beautiful attraction is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Toilets, bbq and excellent scenery. Snow has all melted so the river is running nicely.
The walk to town is a bit unkempt but a nice walk.
The falls would be a great spot on a hot day. Lots of pools to sit in.

Beautiful bush setting. The Falls were lovely to see. Very calming and serene. Swimming in the rock pools would be fun. It's easy to get down but very rocky terrain. Caution is recommended but worth the visit.

This place is beautiful!!!!
I could have sat here all day.
My husband and I went exploring up the back and I fell in not once... but twice and we had the best time. Even if I was soaked haha

Visiting a few days after some reasonable rain in early summer there was plenty of water flowing, and pleasant to explore amongst the rocks, though they were slippery in parts.
Viewing of the waterfall with these shots was available for wheelchair access, though obviously a bit of a scramble and some steps to get onto the waterfall area.
Matt Benson — Google review
Absolutely beautiful experience. There was about 10 people there all spaced out, so it wasn't too crowded, which made the experience pleasant. We visited the Falls first, and the water was cold and beautiful, and even had a large pond for kids to play in. Afterwards, we went to the viewing point looking down at the Falls, which was also beautiful to look at, with information about the history of the Falls which was pleasant to read and learn about. Always a stopping point for us when we are passing through the area!

Woodshed falls is an amazing area that showcases the amazing beauty of the area. With little tourists frantically taking pictures, it is a very peaceful place to take a quick swim or just appreciate nature. The cuttings in the rocks are especially interesting and fun.

Water begins at the top and makes its way to the bottom.
My theory is that gravity plays some role in this process.
Others believe it is a magical phenomenon. Who knows!
All I can say is that it would make for a great place to cool down on a toasty day and even on this cooler day was a nice place to visit.
Jarrod Bell — Google review
A mighty popular spot with many flocking to the upper falls for a swim in the streams that make up the falls. Mighty big plummet if you get too close to the falls itself. Surprisingly, no real warning signs to speak of so be sure to pack your common sense if you decide to picnic there
Billson's, established in 1865, is one of Australia's oldest breweries. The Tasting Room offers a wide selection of traditional cordials and classic drinks. Visitors can enjoy a tour and delicious meals at the Brewery house and cocktail bar. The staff members are known for their exceptional hospitality, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests praise the affordable prices, tasty burgers, and delightful stout on tap. Families appreciate the thoughtful amenities for children, such as drawing kits and treats.
Well worth the trip, an excellent, family friendly time.
We had lunch, the food was great and very tasty. We then did a tasting, which is very generous and caters for all ages. We had fun wandering through the shop checking out all the different flavours they have.
We went in with a pram and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They were very happy to help out and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. It's definitely a must do while in the area. We drove specially to Beechworth to go here and will do it again in a heartbeat.

I didn't know what to expect coming here but my socks were totally blown off!
Firstly the service was first rate. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. During our meal we were checked on regularly. Just great old fashioned warm caring service.
Secondly the gin tasting and food we had (I had a lamb burger) were all awesome. I couldn't fault anything. I recommend heading out back to see the factory viewing window too.

What a great place. I visit here when it first opened and to come back a couple of years later to treat ourselves to lunch. We'll what a winner. Good price, great burgers, and I fell in love with the stout on tap, but it was a cruel trick as I wanted to buy a case there on the spot, and there was done available! 😞 So delicious.
Super nice staff and drawing kits and treats for the kids.
A must to visit. The old building has come to life, and the whole place is getting better and better.

A really wonderful experience! This brewery is set up for a great experience! You can taste as much as you want of the non alcoholic, the vodka and gin mixes, and the spirits. The kids loved the cordials, with passion fruit and lamington being the favourites. With the mixes, we enjoyed the grapefruit gin and elderflower in. Highly recommend a visit.

Had lunch and tastings at Billsons Brewery. The customer service all round was of the highest level, totally fantastic. The burgers were delicious, you can tell the ingredients were top quality. Enjoyed having relaxed tastings (yummy gin) and had a walk around. The Speakeasy Bar looked impressive. Very much enjoyed our visit, left with a box of goodies! Highly recommended place to visit, have lunch and try some tastings.

🍹The staff are very friendly. In the shop, there are ‘self tasting vodka mix area’ and tastings of their other product from cordial to Gin’s.
🥘 Lunch was a generous serve at a reasonable price (~$18-20- a main meal) with an upstairs dining area and downstairs extending to a cocktail lounge/dining area.
🚻 There are toilets (includes baby change room) with a viewing area behind glass of their production. Additional toilets are found at tue restaurant area.

I did the Cocktail Class at Isabella’s Cocktail Bar and had a delightful time. I learnt heaps and we could ask lots of questions. The class was well paced, and very professionally presented. There were platters of cheese and walnuts, etc to help counter the alcohol intake. You definitely need to have a designated driver. If you did this class with a group of friends you’d have an absolute blast, but you’d enjoy it with strangers as well.

Wow, a little overwhelming to be honest, people and product everywhere.
Staff were really friendly to serve kids cordial samples as well as the adults sampling vodkas, beers and spirits.
So many flavours of all alcohols to sample, I didn’t realise they produced so many flavours!!
Can def recommend a visit to Billson’s when visiting Beechworth.

We didn’t book and manage to get a seat at the Speakeasy section where they do grazing platter and drinks (not full lunch menu) - highly recommend to book in advance as the queue is insane and always full all year round!
Grazing platter was ok, some items not available which is a bit disappointing if you have a certain diet but overall still tasty and delicious drinks! The gin tasting platter, even non alcoholic drinks were nice. The staff are friendly and helpful, love the vibe too!

Wow just a great experience, great people.
Really love the speak easy gin bar, that’s next level. But they also have some of the best cordial I have tasted, love the sparkling option.

Testing the unique cordials and ordering all the different flavoured drinks was a must! Helped us purchase the cordials which we liked. We got a platter which was $50+ for lunch which was pretty average and underwhelming for the price (probably wouldn’t order if we went back). Didn’t seem like there was much staff, as we were told it was table service but were waiting a while to order more drinks. However, all staff were very friendly and welcoming 😊

Just spent the weekend In Beechworth and stayed at the Brewery house, had lunch at Billsons also did the tour and dinner at the cocktail bar. Our tour guide T was amazing even though some rude people showed up late and demanded to join in after telling them it was full she handled it so well then seeing her late that night working at the soda bar still with a big smile and warm welcoming hello. Every staff member we came across was fantastic definitely feels like one big happy family. The cocktails were amazing and the food was just as good.
Thank you for an amazing weekend we excited to plan another trip back.

We also did tasting of AS MANY CORDIALS, AS MANY GINS AND AS MANY VODKAS as you like!!! All free!! The staff were happy and helpful and love to "suggest" extra mixes to cheer up your taste buds! 😊 It's a fun stop, and there is no way you can leave empty-handed once you try what's on offer. It's a great place to go, and then check out the viewing of the vats in the brewing house, too.

While visiting Beechworth, we were told that Billsons was worth a visit.
We are glad we did drop past, its an amazing and beautiful place.
Great selecting of tastings on offer and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed trying their gin and vodka. Was also great hearing about the history of the place as we enjoyed our tastings.
The kids also loved having their own tastings of all the various delicious cordials.
We stayed for lunch and we were not disappointed.
There is also a magnificent speakeasy down stairs that is a great place to sit and enjoy a beverage or two.
We will definitely visit again.

First time visitor from Brisbane, walked in and the shop was very busy which is a great sign and people were getting served quickly. A lot of tastings were happening and their range of flavours for cordial and alcohol is huge! Moving into the restaurant area, we asked to be seated for some drinks and they managed to fit us in to the speakeasy downstairs as they had just had a cancellation but also explained that they had a booking coming at 2:30pm allowing us one hour. Service was incredible, staff were very helpful and polite and the drinks were absolutely incredible! We had 3 vodka spritz and ended up buying three cordial flavours on the way out. What an amazing venue, thoroughly pleased!

First time stopping in and was very excited.
We ended up there during school holidays and not realised so it was very busy, couldn't move around properly and see everything.
We ordered some burgers and they were flavourless apart from a load of pickles stacked on the burger to supply taste, it was very odd.
We purchased some cordials, bucket hat, limited edition. Pickle can.
Wouldn't rush to go back though

Great day out to visit Bilson’s . This is must do when staying in Beechworth. There are so variety of Gin. Vodka , spirits and beers. Nice to have the table to do proper testing flight. It can be very busy and staff might not able to give you full attention. Kids are welcome for cordial testing which is pretty accommodating for families.

We were over from SA on a camping trip, and one of our group insisted on the 40 minute detour to go to Bilsons. Very happy that he did, and we all brought a box of their amazing cordials (buy 5 and the sixth is free). Free tasting of the cordials.
Lots of young people working there, which is great. But a little more product training wouldnt go astray and I got a few blank looks when asking about some of the flavours. Bit of a long wait for the checkout.
Open 12 noon to 5pm each day, so factor that in when visiting. Large range of cordials. There's a restaurant on-site, though we didn't eat there. Overall - well worth a visit. Allow 15 to 30 mins if your just browsing.

Old Beechworth Gaol, located on Ford Street, is part of the impressive Justice Precinct listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The site was originally a government camp and later became a police reserve in 1856. Constructed of local honey-colored granite, the complex includes several historic buildings such as the former Telegraph Office, Court House, Police Station, Chinese Protectors Office, and Gold Wardens Office.
Quite an impressive tour which happens at scheduled times. Numbers are limited due to COVID at 40 people so it might be sold out if you rock up 5 minutes before the tour starts. Tickets are 18.50 and can be purchased from a small cafe which sells cakes and reasonable coffee which is a good problem if you come early. During school holidays they had tours at 11, 12 and 1 with each tour taking a little under an hour. Some info on the Kelly gang is also included.

We joined a midday tour, had a really great guide who outlined the history on the Gaol and its life. The quirks of having a gaol that had to grow from the 1800s with bushrangers through to the late 1900s. If your in Beechworth it's worth a visit

great place for a tour! can even see the old balls people have hit on the roof from times of it being in use. can’t go onto the second level anymore but i do recall seeing peoples old magazine hangings of cars on the pin boards. recommend to buy tickets online before attending

I am only reviewing the cafe as I actually have not done the Gaol tour. It was in the middle of Covid and there was a challenge with staff and being forced to close sporadically so the range of food and cakes wasn’t standard. The food was ok but not the best. I think when Covid has passed the men range and food quality will improve. I would recommend a visit here as the grounds are spectacular and the trees and outdoor seating is relaxing and splendid.

What a fantastic experience this was, we went here for a family day outing and we had explored the other small museums that were in the vicinity. We decided to book in online which was so easy and quick and was done with a tour guide. We ended up coming on a family open day which was a fun event although not a lot was going on, it was a cute and a light event.
We went with our kids and nephew, we met out the front of the goal and listened to an informative talk about the history of the Goal, then went inside the rec yard where we learnt more about the Goal and some of the stories of the inmates. We went inside the cell blocks and the talk continued we were then given about 10mins to have a free look around the bottom floor, the top floor was not accessible due to safety regulations. But the second floor was apparently the same as the bottom floor. You don't get to go through the entire building, this is probably having a lot to do with that there are other businesses now occupying the Goal.
It certainly was an interesting experience, i would have loved to see some other parts of the building, not just the cell blocks and parts of the yard. But the whole family really enjoyed the experience.
Accessibility for aged and Disable: There are some minor steps into the goal, we had a lady with a pram, and they accommodated the mum to access the area, so I would assume that a wheelie walker or wheelchair would be accommodated for.
It can be a bit hot during the warmer months as we stood outside listening to the talk which was a little uncomfortable, but at the time we went was tolerable. Maybe on hot days they change where they do the talk.
Food and drink: I believe they have a cafe there that runs most days of the week, it seemed a permanent fixture to the place and also there is a cafe.
I would recommend coming here and do the other museums as well as they support each other in the history of Beechworth.
hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :-)

Daniel was an exceptional tour guide during our visit to Beechworth Gaol. His knowledge of the gaol's history was both informative and engaging. He brought the stories of the prisoners and the conditions they endured to life with his vivid descriptions and attention to detail. Daniel's passion for the gaol's history was evident in his delivery and he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone in the group had a memorable experience. He was patient in answering all our questions and took the time to make sure we understood the complexities of the gaol's past. His enthusiasm for his job was infectious and made our visit to Beechworth Gaol all the more wonderful. We left feeling grateful for the experience and the opportunity to have had Daniel as our tour guide.

The Old Beechworth Goal is a site to be seen with its high granite walls, which is fine stone work i must add to its razor wire on top, the Goal was opened for prisoners in 1864...
The entrance to the Beechworth Goal is located on Williams St. The building does take up a lot of land and also can be seen along Ford St and High St...
The longing question most people ask is about Edward/Ned Kelly, who did, in fact, spend some time at this Goal with his first conviction at 16 in 1870 for Actually doing nothing just receiving a stolen horse from somebody else which started his life as a bush ranger/outlaw...
Also, the prison has been home to some of Australia's most well-known bushrangers, including Joe Byne and Harry Powers. The prison also held twenty or so suspected Kelly gang riders in 1879....
Another name what some one say as a big name in crime was Carl Williams, and over the 140 years of the Beechworth Goal being in service, I could say the books would be full of names...
There is a tour that runs most days, and we were hoping to take one of these tours, but unfortunately, we missed out and run out of time in the beautiful town of Beechworth...
We did get the chance to take a small stroll around the outside, I will update my post when I get the chance to take a tour on the inside of this prison.

If you want experience the deeper history of Beechworth, then the Court house is a great place to start. Beechworth has an amazing number of little places you can take the kids or yourself to go and have a visit to learn about Beechworth.
The court House is of course famous for its association with Ned Kelly, but it also is an amazing place to come and see a historic building, built in 1958 and was a working courthouse right up to 1989, this courthouse has been an interesting and integral part of the community just as much as the Beechworth Goal Has.
I love how you can almost access nearly every room of the courthouse minus the lady's balcony and a storeroom. But the Library happened to be our favourite room, it was filled with old law books and just had that nostalgic feel about it, the kids loved the library and the holding cells.
(They used to have an audio spill that used to play but that feature was not there anymore. It did make for a great way to experience the court room.)
The kids love being able to explore and sit where the judge and lawyers would sit and they did a little court play of their own. It was cheap to get in costing us a family of 6 $10. you could pay a bit extra for a guided tour which would probably have been great. There were souvenirs you could purchase for reasonable prices.
Accessibility: The courthouse is wheelchair friendly, and you can access most of the courthouse bar the cells I believe. The staff are welcoming and encourage all to come and take part in the history of Beechworth. Great place for kids and anyone to come and visit.

This place is fantastic! Cheap to visit. The court house is in original condition as it was on the last day is was used. Lots of interesting information to read. Ned Kellys trial began here in August 1880 before it was transferred to Melbourne. Don’t forget to go around the rear of the building where one of the old stable buildings still stand. Also the old stone lock up with would be terrible to be locked up in. The whole area is so interesting and next door is the telegraph office to visit as well.

am assuming due to couple of luxury hotels the beach has been really well maintained. Which is a really good point. I don't remember spending almost the entire day at any other beach but this. A beach worth visiting and spending time. Take a nice dip in the Arabian Sea. lie down on the beach get sun bathed and have yummy food on the shacks there.
p.s Our favourite shack was "Gloria". Mr Satish was a polite and very helpful host. Tried the others as well (Misha and Amish) but we found this the best. Gloria shack is between Misha and Amish, close to the beach opening of Mahindra Club.
We had the most wonderful time at Indigo. Very rarely do I enjoy all wines, both red and white on a tasting but at Indigo I did.
The tasting was very relaxed with plenty of time to enjoy each wine before the next pair was represented. Pizzas were delicious too.
We were so well looked after by the team.
The seating out on the grass would be beautiful in the warmer weather. However, under the cover the wood fire kept us more than comfortable.
Thank you again team for a lovely afternoon.

It was all done at a leisurely pace and we were able to enjoy both food and wine. Only down side...had to pay for the wine tasting and unlike other places that charge it wasn't refundable with the purchase of wine

We had an absolutely fabulous lunch experience at Indigo Winery. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance set a serene and welcoming tone, perfect for a leisurely afternoon. The staff were exceptionally attentive, ensuring our comfort and satisfaction throughout the visit.
The food was a highlight, offering a delightful array of flavors that paired wonderfully with their selection of wines. Each dish was presented beautifully, showcasing the quality and care put into their preparation. The wine recommendations by our server enhanced the meal, allowing us to explore a variety of their best offerings.
Beyond the meal, the picturesque setting of the winery added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. The views of the vineyards were stunning, providing a perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience.
I highly recommend Indigo Winery for anyone looking for exquisite food, exceptional wine, and a relaxing atmosphere. It's a must-visit destination that promises a wonderful time for all. Well worth the visit and the hour bike ride to get there! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Visited today and arranged the wine tasting experience before lunch. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. It was great to experience the different wines on offer and learn more about the Indigo winery. The setting was beautiful with a garden setting and very relaxed atmosphere . Meals were also exceptional. A must do experience if visiting Beechworth

Absolutely a ‘must stop’ when staying in Beechworth. We rode on the bike trail from Beechworth and had the $45 per head lunch (platter, salad and pizza) which was delicious. Wines were definitely a favourite for all of us.

We visited Indigo yesterday and had a wonderful experience - everything was excellent: service, information, food and of course, their wines. Marietta and others in the team looked after us really well. I strongly recommend a visit if you are anywhere in the area. It’s relaxed, super casual and great value.

Great tasting experience, seated and relaxed, you will be thoroughly taken through the wine varieties, including recommendations, award-winners, and most/least favourite. A casual setting, intimate atmosphere, and great wines.
The Pinot Grigio, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, are all great wines worth the visit.

Great service in the cellar door is backed up by a stellar range of wines. Purity and persistence.
Viognier is a knock-out. Do not drive past.
I would personally like to thank the caretakers of the Beechworth Cemetery for the wonderful upkeep to this historic Cemetery!
Our time here was for personal reasons!
The Cemetery can be a little tricky trying to find the plot you are looking for, so if you are looking for a family member or a old friend, take your time to find out exactly which direction you need to go...
Just inside the front gates, you can find a small map layout Brochure for the zoning of the Cemetery that will help you greatly and if you are still have some trouble finding who you are looking for, in the centre you will find a sheltered area were there's a good layout map of the Cemetery...
Again, I would like to finish this review with a very big thank you to the caretakers, and may all RIP!. ❤️

Some lovely stories and much sadness here. Well maintained and easily traversed. Good signage and you’re given plenty of information on the beliefs and history of the surrounding areas. If you like this sort of thing it’s definitely worth a look . Dates of burials range from about 1853 to present day. At the back of the cemetery is an original fence and pioneer section with explanations of who was who in the day.

Thank you to the diligent people who maintain this historical cemetery. Was informative and interesting on our little visit to the area - especially interesting for us was the Chinese section, as one our ancestors came to Australia from China.

Came here to find Aaron Sherrits grave. He was shot dead by his best friend Joe Byrne on 28 June, 1880. Joe was a member of the Kelly gang and Joe believed Aaron was assisting police to hunt down the Kellys. Aaron left behind a young pregnant wife who later mis carried. Joe Bynes died himself the next day at the Siege are Glenrowan. Aaron’s grave is unmarked. The sign at the gate says there are toilets but I never found them. Had to go back into town.

Bridge Road Brewers is a charming vintage hotel that boasts an impressive vaulted ceiling and specializes in producing their own high-quality craft beers. In addition to their excellent selection of beers, they also offer delicious bar snacks and pizza. This establishment is perfect for those who are looking for a great place to dine and unwind with friends or family. While driving visitors may miss out on the opportunity to try all of the brews, there will surely be another chance to do so.
One of the main reasons I visit Beechworth is Bridge Road Brewers! I love this place and keep coming back for their paddle.
You don't have to stress yourself with the choices, as they give you one of each of their own beers - 10 of them, and they give you the number of each to find out which one you like most.
They serve excellent pizzas as well. Book in advance as the place can get packed even on weekdays.
Jo SB — Google review
Prefer the other brewery in town. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed so we came to Bridge Road. Had the duck a la orange pizza which was unique. However the tomato sauce base was too sweet. They should have just stuck to a light BBQ sauce to compliment the sweet orange on top of the pizza. The beer paddle was the biggest that we have ever had. But quantity does not equate to quality. Sorry, we have had better paddles at other brewerys.

Bridge Road Brewers, what a beautiful establishment!
Our time in beautiful Beechworth was short, and on the last day in Beechworth looking around, we found Bridge Road and unfortunately had already eaten and couldn't sit back and enjoy a nice cold beer of theirs due to along drive ahead!
We get the opportunity to take a look around and talk some wonderful of the staff who were extremely friendly and made our time to leave even harder!
Although we have already talked about heading back to Beechworth for a couple of days, and I can say I'm heading straight to the Bridge Road Brewers to try out their beer and to what I seen their amazing looking food!
Lots of seating inside or out with a great atmosphere! Also, some great merchandise available...
Bridge Road Brewers, you have an amazing looking establishment!.

Very big bar and restaurant but you need to book ahead especially on weekends. I had a delicious barramundi with fattoush salad, although the salad was very sparse on the plate. Pizzas coming out of the oven looked good and are very popular among diners. We shared a garlic herb focaccia which was good. Finished off the meal with a birramisu, don't stress you can't taste the beer, was yummy and a bit too creamy for my taste and needed more biscuits on the base. The red wine was nice as well, didn't get to try the beer. They offer a free bike wash station in their car park as well. Great vibe.

#bridgeroadbrewers! A great place to have pizza ( and they were yum!!😋) and some beer tasting ( and there is something for everyone 's taste buds!!) after doing the Epic Trail ride or a bush walk. But the silver lining is the FREE BIKE WASH out the back of the Brewery! The owners are MTB enthusiasts and encourage all us riders in!! They even have free bike hire for the rail trails as well!! There are free Brewery tours at 11 am each day. What a great venue, 👍🏾.

This place is a must visit in Beechworth for yummy food and good beers with unique flavour
We like -
Vanilla ice cream flavour beer
Burrata salad
Margherita pizza
Miso eggplant
Beef brisket- wouldn’t recommend, dry and overcooked, had much better brisket elsewhere.
The beer variety is amazing and perfect pit stop for any beer lovers

Delicious woodfired pizza and salads. We had the apple and blue cheese pizza which was such a winning combination topped with rocket and the crunch of hazelnuts - autumn in every slice. Paired perfectly with the zucchini salad with burrata dotted through ribbons of zucchini and fresh dill and parsley. A welcome step up from usual brewery fare and worth a visit in beautiful Beechworth!

Although we had a couple of issues getting a table (even with a booking), the chick who greeted us did her best to get us seated comfortably. The hubby had a beer tasting paddle and loved his meatball pizza. The garlic foccacia was a tad salty for me but my cheese pizza was ok.
Worth a visit and the staff were doing a great job with it being super busy. If you love pizza and beer (like the hubby does), you'll love this place.

A bit of a mixed bag here. Our Porco Rosso pizza was great, but the pepperoni pizza was a bit meh as well as being way too salty.

We took our staff (12 of us) for a paranormal tour and it was fabulous. Our tour guide Tyson was excellent and had the emf readers & the ghost box device - both with results in lighting up when questioned and unearthly voices answering our questions!
The buildings and grounds are kept as original as possible adding to the experience which would have been unpleasant to be there as a patient back in the day.
We commend Geoff & Dawn for preserving this beautiful historic site for the enjoyment it brings for anyone interested in our disturbing past treatment of “ lunatics” and those who still haunt the buildings and grounds.
Highly recommend 👍

The Asylum of Beechworth for the seekers can find this along Albert Rd up on Mayhills...
The asylum was first opened in 1867, and it was one of the larger psychiatric hospitals that once serviced the state of Victoria
At its peak time in the later part of the 1800s, it had over 1,200 patients, with some being locked up for no real reason at all! There were to be 500 staff members as well around the time...
Common forms of treatment included the use of restraints, such as shackles and straitjackets, as well as isolation boxes and electroconvulsive therapy, while teeth were pulled as punishment to those who self-harmed!...
Following the royal commission into psychiatric care, the hospital was shut down in 1998 after running for 128 years.
We had taken the ghost tour thanks to a friend,
The tour started at 8:30 pm, and we enjoyed the tour with some great information from the tour guide as we wandered some of the buildings and dark hallways.

The Mayday Ghost tours have the perfect backdrop/setting for an awesome night. For us, the tour of the old Mayday Mental Hospital in Beechworth was packed for of information giving insight into how poorly people of the past were treated in these facilities however the information was simply setting the scene for what I would have to say was a theatrical masterpiece for our tour guide.
The tour guide (Adrian) was in character, engaging the group getting everyone involved which made the already perfect setting even better.
Unfortunately we didn’t encounter any supernatural beings but I do believe that if there were ever going to be ghosts a place like Mayday would be the location.
It is the type of tour for adults and children and everyone will be entertained and have a good time.
Michael Keegan — Google review
The tour guide was lovely and funny and the history of the place was great, one h of a walk! 5000 steps on my padomiter only down side was it was a little gimmicky - an autopsy table from a different hospital in a room that never had autopsies done in it, a nursery with models of kids playing despite only one 5 year old who left afe a week in a room that never had kids in it (why not have toys in the men's workshop where they built things like that) also the tunnels mb keep that on the dL till you actually know

Booked online in advance for the 9pm ghost tour. There was 23 people in our group. The tour guide had some interesting stories and was quite engaging. We didn't have any 'encounters' which would have been fascinating. The asylum is well kept and we got to see a lot of the grounds during the tour. Overall it was an interesting activity if you're looking for things to do in Beechworth

Great tour, I took my 10year old on the twilight ghost tour, we loved it!
Our guide was brilliant! She was professional, engaging, and knowledgeable. Her stories of her own and others regarding paranormal experiences sounded genuine and won't over the top dramatised, which I really liked. I hope to go back again to go on more of the tours. Highly recommend, even for a daytime history tour, if ghost tours aren't your thing.

Putting aside whether you believe in the paranormal or not, this was a really interesting night. And I say that as someone allergic to dust (I really should have taken a mask or antihistamines at least). Super interesting history and knowledgeable guide who had a great sense of humour, and tactfully managed the very talkative, "spiritually-sensitive" pair in our group.
The asylum has a crazy history in a town which itself has a lot of history. It didn't feel gimmicky or staged (even if it was, I don't know 🤷♂️) but definitely left me with chills down my spine!
Miguel Desroches — Google review
We really enjoyed our 90 minute ghost tour and would definitely like to go on one of the longer paranormal tours.

Had a good time on this tour. The tour guild was very knowledgeable about the history of the place. Very friendly and was really interesting. Even traveling solo, if you love history, do this tour. It’s comforting to know our health care system has improved since then. It would be incredible to have access to more buildings. If you expect to go into all of them, you only see three. Still, worth a visit.
The staff are friendly, approachable and most importantly helpful. They know their job and are very knowledgeable on the area. They are locals that know the hidden gems in the area, or they can direct you to all the tourist attractions in the region. There is plenty of supportive material in the centre to help you plan an amazing guide to the area's attractions. The centre also has a pop-up exhibition that are amazing and educational. The kids loved the Ann-Frank Exhibition and didn't want to leave, there were videos about Annes life playing and reading material to help you engage with the life of Anne.
Drop in and meet the staff, let them set you on a journey in the area and expand your knowledge of Beechworth.

On a sunny day we went to the information centre to ask about walking tracks around the Beechworth Gorge area. The woman there was quite adamant that there were no tracks for walking and the only option was to walk around the road. She seemed clueless in regards to anything else and told us if we diverted from the road it would be “ too slippery”. We parked at the Powder Magazine and easily found signs pointing to a number of sign posted walking tracks. We did about 10 ks and it was lovely with some nice lookouts and not slippery at all. I’m pleased we didn’t take the advice of the woman at the tourist information centre. Perhaps she needs a bit more local knowledge.

5 Star experience! Beautiful building! The ladies here are amazing with a wealth of historical knowledge of Beechworth. They told us about the historical walk and encouraged us to book at the museum down below the Info Centre. The Centre itself has lots of memorabilia, information of surrounding areas and information on Ned Kelly who was first tried in Beechworth Court House, the historical building opposite. Also some pretty cool Ned Kelly gifts amongst other tourist souvineers. Don't miss a visit here when in the area.
The Burke Museum, Beechworth Athenaeum is a regional museum featuring exhibits and artefacts related to local history and natural history. Housed in a building constructed in 1857, the museum charges a $5 entry fee and takes about 30-60 minutes to explore. While there is an exhibit dedicated to Burke, visitors should also note that there are other interesting displays such as one on the Chinese community in the area.
You never know what you may find in Beechworth! This Museum is lovely. The History of the Mining days, to Ned Kelly, to the Tassie Tiger and more! On top of that, the "Argus Newspaper" from the 1800's was there also! Now that really is excellent history to have found there!

Nice regional museum which is good for a wet day. Costs $5 to enter and will take most people between 30-60 minutes to walk around. Do note that there is a lot more here that just stuff on Burke so don't let that put you off. There was also an interesting exhibit on the Chinese in the area which was illuminating

Hands down, best Museum ever! The ladies are very knowledgable. Rikki, the Senior here went out of her way to look up historical information on hubby's family who migrated to Beechworth in 1860. Hubby was over the moon with this. A BIG thank you to Rikki. Apart from that, the Museum arranges the historical walk around town. And this Museum has a wealth of history including one of the best pioneer exhibits that we have ever seen. See photos. Oh and I was impressed to learn that Tom Thumb visited here. See the photo exhibit of his little boots below. And that is not all. We only paid half of the entry price because they had to corden off a bit of the museum for a presentation. We cannot believe that there is more to this amazing museum! Deserves 5+

Brilliant old style museum of randomness from back in the olden days when they killed things so they could look at them in cases.
They have a beautiful big old globe which is like an old fashioned Google maps.
Highlights for me were Ned Kelly's death mask, he had a little head; and a collection of hairballs from the stomachs of different animals.
Learnt that a woman's mourning period should be 4 years, whilst for a man 3 months is sufficient. This is because men's emotions are more highly controlled and can be focused very intently over a shorter period. I would have made a good Victorian.

Fantastic little museum. Only $5 for adults or $3 concession.
Has a fascinating collection of local rocks and native fauna taxidermy. Some in better condition than others.
Has a recreated historical Beechworth alley where you can view objects from a hundred years ago.
A newer instalment has a more personal analysis of the town. A historic citizen and a modern citizen are placed next to each other and their story is told. Sometimes it works more than others.

Small but full of interesting local history. The latest exhibition is on the people of Beechworth. A good mix of new & old. Of course my favourite section is the history, hence not many photos here on the people.
When learning about Burke & Wills in primary school in the early 80s, I did not know he was a Beechworth police superintendent.
My favourite section of the museum is the ‘street’ of shops with artifacts that transport you back in time.
Can’t believe how many stuffed animals people had.A whole wall of birds!
$5 entry fee. There a free postcards you can take just near where you pay. We probably spent about half an hour in there. It could take you longer if you read every single display.

What a great little find. The last remaining 'dots and dashes' telegraph manned by knowledgeable volunteers.
From here you can send someone a telegram. As there are no commercial telegraph offices operating any more, it gets relayed to two other volunteers who transcribe the message, print it then send the telegram on by post as a sake.
This also has an interesting museum at the rear of the telegram office. Well worth a quick visit

This is a truly authentic museum! Well done!

Fantastic working Telegraph system run by great volunteers. Collection of old equipment brought back memories. Great to see old buildings displaying their history.

It's interesting to see how far we have come in telecommunications. There are some really old phones here. Some I hadn't seen growing up. It depends on you age, that how interesting you would find this. Older you are more you will be able to relate to what they have here. A 15 year old might find it amusing what the phones used to be like but they won't relate to them.

What a great piece of history of telecommunications. Love the summary of examples of telegrams sent on the chalkboard outside.

Good place to learn some interesting knowledge. But the people who are working right there don't have much patience, especially for the people unwhite! Be careful.

What a wonderful and unique experience. Being able to send a telegram to loved ones domestically or Internationally was a real treat. Leo are guide took the time to share the history of the telegram office and a guide on how to use the Morse code instruments that you are able to try out.
Thanks again Leo

If you're staying in Beechworth and like to go for a stroll, why not make this cute waterfall on the outskirts of town your destination?
A twelve minute amble from the centre of town to get to this photo opportunity. Sadly you can't go down into the gorge but only see it from a small viewing platform. Limited parking so don't be lazy...walk there!

I can honestly say I read about these falls whilst holiday planning, but didn't think it worth the visit. I then came across it by accident as we drove around from one place to the other and was actually quite fascinated. May not be as spectacular as other falls, but it has a charm and character to it. Photos on here don't do it justice (which is why I wasn't interested in intentionally going), and my pics won't do it justice either, but I would suggest a pop by if you're in town, as it is literally just on the edge of this small community by a main road. There is a smaller waterfall to the left side of the main one, although not sure if it runs wet dependant on the rainfall. I visited early Jan.

These lovely falls can be viewed from the side of the road. There is a pull off section to park in . They can be accessed from Ford street as you come into Beechworth or as you leave. Or they are at the end of the one way road from the Beechworth historic park.

It’s literally right there on your right when you turn the corner of Gorge St. Looks amazing after fresh rainfall with a huge amount of gushing water. The original bridge in the background was wooden built in the 1800s & was then replaced with this stone one that was built in 1874 & opened in 1875.
The scenic drive is currently closed off (November 2022) due to floods, but you can still walk through by foot and see another cascading fall further down.
….what a difference a couple of days makes. Last photo is 2 days later & much less water but still beautiful and enough.
If you’ve got time, keep walking further down along the track & you’ll get to see some Australian native animals such as the kookaburra and wallabies if you’re lucky.

Beautiful stop on the way out to Melbourne - have never heard of Beechworth before and it’s spectacular. Both in natural beauty and historical preservation.

Easily access water falls and cascades within the township. The creek was cut from rock and reminiscence of gold rush days. The stone bridge forms a perfect background for a nice photo, especially on wet season where the flow is quite impressive.

I didn't know about this picturesque location despite having passed it on the road many times. I just glanced and saw a gorge, then deduced that with all the recent rains there must be a waterfall. It was quite spectacular and the old bridge in the background adds to the decor.

it not a proper tourist attraction i would said, it just pretty small, neighbourhood like water fall, pretty high and nice sunny day make it look awesome too.

Its right there until you see it. In the heart of city, a big falls. The falls are a series of cascading waterfalls that flow over the sandstone rock formations and it's a beautiful spot for a picnic or a walk.

The vantage point is lovely - with the waterfalls under the arched bridge.
The viewing location could definitely use some shades and renovations.
Was there in spring, not much flow, but still pretty.
My little one had so much fun picking the strawberries and there was such an abundance that you didn’t have to worry there won’t be any “good” ones left towards the end of the day. I personally haven’t been a huge fan of strawberries to begin with and i (plus my partner and son) ate half of the pile in the pic! Doesn’t get anymore fresh than that.
The fruit itself was so juicy and flavourful, best strawberries I’ve had 🍓
Can’t wait to come back when we visit Beechworth again 😊

Excellent place for berry picking. Saw a sign for this hidden gem while driving along a road and decided to stop by to check it out. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the strawberries, as it was one of the best and freshest that I have ever eaten. Thank you for the experience!

Great local farm with in season berries ranging from strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. Added benefit of picking your own fruit so makes this a fun family experience where kids can definitely get involved and pick their favourite fruits as well.
You don't need to book in advance and there's ample parking out the side/front upon arrival with the added bonus of shade as well in most parts so that does help in keeping the car cool and any fruit you take home a little more fresh as well.
Recommend you do this on a mild to warm day at most as hot days you will find it challenging and seemingly attracts more people as well. Generally speaking crowds are not an issue and love the way you can pick the size of your container but also gets weighed and charged accordingly per kilo.
Therefore regardless of how little or lot you collect and what fruit you favour its the same base/flat rate.
Ultimately it's your call if you want to favour value for money then go for the more pricier fruit of the day but in saying that others would simply be happy to pick the fruit they enjoy the most and appears to be most plentiful as well. Either way you won't be disappointed - pick what you want and as much as you desire.
There are outside open areas for picking strawberries but my tip is don't rush and just pick the closest ones to the entry when you're handed the container. Yes it's tempting and no doubt most people get overly excited and do this right away but you'll find more variety and I feel the better choice of fruits to pick within the shaded/covered areas to the right of the farm.
This might naturally change over seasons but take your time and be selective as there's no time limit so don't feel pressured that you must pick something out of FOMO.
Enjoy the experience and take your time. The fruit is well worth it and most importantly fresh and full of flavour.

Love love love this place. You can hand pick fresh berries - strawberries everywhere! Or if you are lazy just buy a punnet if the freshest sweetest most delicious strawberries you will find. They have ice cream, jam and sauce to purchase too. Staff are friendly and it’s easy to get a park. Great place to bring kids to. Love everything about this place.

We got a little carried away ended up with nearly $50 worth of Strawberries 🤦
But turned them into cheesecakes, jam and everything you can think of.
They have strawberry ice cream and drinks which are nice.

Great for some of our group to pick strawberries and blackberries, and the rest of us enjoy refreshments . Tastes to suit the family. Strawberry cordial, homemade ice creams, smoothies and others. Only downside was that the berry picking was too high for younger children. See photos.

If you like berries, and like picking, this is the place for you. They do nice ice cream too which you need after a hot shift of fruit picking.

Nice place to pickup berries. We picked strawberries and got really nice ones. No entry fee and you can pay whatever you are picking. Enough parking available and toilet too. Strawberry kg $14. They have some fresh ice cream too. Must try dairy milk with strawberries. Taste good. Good place to hangout with kids on weekend or any day.

Eldorado Road Cellar Door Cantina is a family-run vineyard located just a few kilometers from Beechworth. However, you don't have to travel far to enjoy their hand-picked wines as they have an intimate cellar door right in the heart of town. Whether you visit in summer and relax under the shade of the willow tree in the private courtyard or cozy up next to the fire during winter, this cellar door offers a welcoming atmosphere.
Do yourself a favour when in Beechworth and drop into Eldorado Rd for some deliciousness ..... the truffle chips, cheese and the salami and of course the wine. We the Nero. The courtyard was very relaxing. The staff were very friendly and hospitable.

Cannot speak highly enough of El Dorado Road. Claire, Lenny & Paul went above and beyond to accommodate our group on Saturday. We were served 7 wines for the complimentary tasting. The wines are delicious, our particular favourites being the fiano, durif & Beechworth shiraz. We also loved the platters of cheeses, meats and bread served beautifully. What a brilliant idea to have the cellar door right in Beechworth town. Looking forward to our next trip.

I enjoyed well-crafted local wines in handy location in Beechworth. Owner/winemaker was explaining about each wine and the daughter was preparing yummy platter with local goodies! Sorry I didn’t catch your name! Also, his recommendations over restaurants and place to take kids were spot on! Thank you so much!
Loved experience here and highly recommend if you are travelling to Beechworth.

Fabulous service on a Sunday afternoon, great wine ,lovely to be served by the winemakers daughter. Can't recommend highly enough. Will be back again.
After many weeks of emailing between pandemic lockdowns we finally made it to Serengale (thanks to the advise from The Cellar Door Wine Store in Beechworth- also worth a visit). Serena showed us around the vineyard and it was so great to not only meet the owners but feel the passion and love they have for what they do which clearly shows in their wines. Gayle the wine maker popped in to chat about the processing side of things and Jezebel the dog kept us company the whole time. Incredible views, wines and service. If we weren’t in thrifty pandemic times we would’ve bought more but we’ll definitely be back and highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area- phone ahead.

Haldon Estate Wines (Visits and Tastings by appointment)
Absolute must visit in Beechworth. Cannot speak highly enough of Tracey, her wines and the Haldon property.
Despite being very busy on the day we visited, we were treated to a private and intimate tasting that made you fell like the only people there. Extremely glad that we booked lunch and enjoyed an awesome platter packed with local produce. We could quite of easily sat there in the beautiful gardens all afternoon and drank wine; I don’t think Tracey would’ve minded either!
The wines speak for themselves, appropriately aged before release, displaying expert craftsmanship in the execution of a minimal intervention process. We definitely look forward to visiting again in the future.

We visited this amazing little winery on the Beechworth Hidden Wineries weekend (second weekend of every month) and honestly cannot recommend coming to see this awesome little winery enough! Tracey produces some great wines, with her Rose, Pinot Noir and Shiraz being absolutely superb! Definitely recommend a visit and can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely delightful!!! Wine here is beyond exceptional, couldn't recommend highly enough!!! You can tell this small vineyard focuses on quality as the vines are all protected with netting to stop the birds from eating all the grapes.Swing by the cellar door and enjoy.

My husband and I are cellar door enthusiasts and regularly explore at least 10 new wineries each year of which quality and taste are most important! Haldon Wines employs excellent workmanship/quality using true traditional wine making methods - thrilled with our discovery - mostly French Oaked barrel fementation (FAN!) and the first time I’ve come across a French Oaked Rose 🌹in Australia - I’m normally allergic to sulphites, milk and other addictives and react to mass produced wines, I love the fact that Haldon does not use too much of The above mentioned but still has the complexity and taste in the structure of the wines! Very Humble and understated presentation cellar and certainly in my top 10 experiences thus far! Thank you Tracey - my first winery review because I feel you deserve this on so many levels - please remain passionate!
