The Maerim Elephant Sanctuary is a famous tourist attraction in Cambodia that features elephants living in comfortable conditions. The sanctuary provides visitors with the opportunity to learn about elephant behavior and care, as well as appreciate their impressive size and strength. The sanctuary also offers photo opportunities with the elephants for a nominal fee.
A simply wonderful experience. I highly recommend this sanctuary as the elephants seem to be treated very well.
The definite highlight is the mud bath, you get up close and personal with the elephants themselves.
The guide himself was very funny and knowledgeable, and the photographer took some great shots which we couldn't refuse.
To top it off the lunch we had while we were there was very tasty!

A lovely experience! The elephants are treated well and fed well.
We’ve had a great time feeding, bathing and interacting with the animals. They seem to be happy. All the best Dee and the team with the sanctuary and if you’re reading this and unsure if it’s worth the money, in my opinion it is 100% worth your money, for such an unforgettable experience, you can be sure the money goes towards the survival of these amazing animals. They as well as other real elephant sanctuaries were out of business during Covid so please go and support them!

Wonderful and unique experience. Dee was a funny and talented guide in the sanctuary. The program was suited for all kinds of groups and ages and full of time together with the calm and lovely elephants. This activity is highly recommended!!!

The Maerim Elephant Sanctuary is an all round awesome trip. The staff are informative and friendly, ensuring that you understand and enjoy your time with the elephants who are truly gentle giants.
The Maerim sanctuary stands a cut above the rest, due to the facilities and activities. First, you will feed the elephants, then you will partake in a mud bath with the elephants and lastly there is a pool, bar and meal included after you have played with the elephants.
This was one of the most incredible half day experiences. Thank you

I really enjoyed my experience here. The staff was knowledgeable and the elephants seemed to be treated very well. They had large amounts of land to roam, an elephant hospital, and constant ‘friends’ from visitors. They do not allow riding here, no do they use hooks or chains as far as I could tell. There are a few reviews here that say they saw chains, but I was unable to find evidence of this.
We fed the elephants, petted them, hugged them, walked with them, fed them banana stalks, covered them in mud, and bathed with them. You are allowed to take your own photos, but they also have a pretty good photographer on staff who will take many photos of you as well, which you can view and buy for 400 baht at the end of the experience.
Transportation and a nice lunch of noodle soup in included in the price as well. The transportation is 2 hours round trip, which is considerable. I believe the price is a good deal. They also have Wi-Fi!

Had an absolutely wonderful experience and will be sure to go again! The staff clearly care about the elephants, giving you their history and referring to them by their names and introducing you to them. Although they may have the same routine each day the elephants could chose. So although they have 6 elephants only 2 actually cane into the mud spa which was lovely to see as they have the freedom to do as they please. Clearly well looked after and is a great experience for anyone. Young or old. Would highly recommend this place!

I enjoyed the tour. I booked it on the official website and asked questions via email. My inquiry was responded to quickly.
The driver picked us up at the hotel on time. When we arrived, there was another car, in total , it was around 20 tourists for that day.
We were able to feed and pat the elephants. We had lunch, then we took a walk with the elephants. Each elephant is accompanied by a staff member who can assist us and take care of elephants.
The group had a photographer following us. He took pictures, and at the end of the trip, we can review the photos first before we decide if we want to purchase them.
Our guide also did a good job of explaining knowledge of elepants to us and taught us how to properly and safely interact with elephants.
I will recommend it to friends and families.

After quite online research to find the right ethical sanctuary, I found Maerim Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai and it was a truly delightful experience. From start to finish, it was truly captivating.
Meeting the amazing rescued elephants from riding camps, circuses and illegal logging work, learning about them, feeding, playing, swimming and walking with the elephants in made it an unforgettable adventure. The focus on learning to respect these majestic animals added made the experience even more insightful.
Making our own noodle soup 🍜 was quite fun and got to enjoy it.
Highly recommend for anyone seeking a meaningful and enjoyable encounter with elephants in a responsible and caring environment!

Unforgettable experience.
I did the full day tour for 1700BHT - I don’t think you’d miss any extra activities per say if you did the half day tour, but you just miss out on time with the elephants.
Great photographer provided photos for 1 person cost 500 BAHT, I thought this was very reasonable given the quality of the photos - meant that you could put away your phone and fully experience the moment without worrying about capturing it!
The staff care about elephants clearly, and the conditions in which they live is good compared to other elephant sanctuaries (plenty of area to roam, well-fed & well treated).
Thanks so much

This place is really nice to visit elephants. They can live freely in the nature. They do not force elephants to anything. We can feed and shower with them. Elephants are quite friendly, they are also chubby. It is so cute! The price is quite expensive but it is worst it, 2000 bath for full tour and 800 bath for feed and take a photo. You can walk with elephant in the nature too. I am really enjoy and happy to visit here. I recommend to come.

So we stayed in Chiang Mai for a week and spent the better half of it trying to figure out which elephant sanctuary we wanted to go to that actually cared for their elephants. After looking online and in person for one to go to we eventually decided on this one after recommendation from a friend.
I’ve been to many places with elephants and this absolutely was the best one I’ve been to by far. They start you off with the history of the park, how COVID affected their ability to look after the elephants and the basics such as how to interact with them. From that they take you outside to fill up 2 huge bags worth of bananas to go and meet and feed the elephants. No chains, no ropes, no guides ushering them around just a bunch of elephants free to roam and eager for some bananas. Totally ethical interaction with them and really felt like the staff treated the elephants as family. After feeding it’s off into the mud bath and then on to washing them and saying goodbye.
Once that’s all done, a quick swim in the pool and then they briefly show you how to prepare a bowl of noodles with both meat and vegetarian options.
Overall a fantastic day, really felt like the elephants were happy to be there. Good food, good fun, and totally worth the money.
They also have photographers taking pictures of you all day and then afterwards they collate them into an album which you have the choice of purchasing. We bought ours for B.1200 as the pictures were fab but it isn’t necessary as you can bring along your phones and take as many as you want.

This is an excellent day trip out. You have the ability to really get to interact with the elephants. No riding here which is good. Your time will pass very quickly , the guides are knowledgeable and impart information well , often with a funny line. All in all good fun day.

We booked through our hotel the day before, got picked up from our hotel in time to the sanctuary which is about 45 mins away from the city. The place itself is very relaxed and not too touristy, and all the elephants there are females rescued from riding, logging, or circus. You can feed, give a mud bath, and wash the elephants. They don't force them to do anything (for example, if an elephant wants to get out of the water/mud they just do, which I really liked). Afterward you can relax for a bit, or bathe in a pool they've got, and then you have lunch which is them showing you how to make noodle soup, which was delicious. Tim the guide was very sweet and funny! Great place.

We chose the morning option . A lot of people , yes, but this is the way they put together the money to save more elephants by buying them . Honestly : I don’t understand the negative comments about this place , from people disliking the commandos the animals get . What do you think ? That 90.000 US dollars to buy an elephant and rescue him from the hell are coming from heaven down ??? They have to open the doors to visitors and they understood that the only way to interest people is to interact with the animals and they have to be trained . The guy explaining to visitors all those things was very funny and professional , the elephants are in a great shape and we learned about them a lot . The food was excellent , you cook a soup by yourself ( nice idea to get everything together) and the pool was clean . We were happy to choose this organization to spend some valuable time with those splendid creatures.

One of the best days of my life.
If you hesitate about which sanctuary to visit, take this one. It is a no ride sanctuary, but you can pet, wash and feed them. The rule of the park is that the elephants decide and people have to follow them. For example when we went with them in the lake to wash them, they were free to go out whenever they wanted and were not forced to stay. So the moment they left, swimming time was over. You could just see they were treated with respect by the caretakers.
Just take the full day experience, you will not regret it. The noodle soup at lunch was amazing!
Our guide was funny and very kind.
Also the group was not too big which was perfect.

A fun experience but too much cash and carry issues. I know it was for a good cause to protect and serve the elephants that were misused by tourist attractions. I felt like I had signed up to provide labor for the company at the same time paying a large sum for entry, water, towels as ND photos. But again to support a better life and living conditions for these majestic animals.

Located in the foothills of the Doi Suthep-Pui Mountains north of Chiang Mai, Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is a botanical garden that meets international standards. The garden has a wide variety of plants and trees, as well as greenhouses. It can be easily explored in a day and is a beautiful Chiang Mai attraction.
Beautiful place. Free parking outside, but we paid an extra 100 baht to drive in, which I highly recommend. There are 3 main segments and you can drive from each one to the next with plenty of space to park at each segment. The canopy walk was alright. We even stopped at the museum, which is more suitable for younger visitors but we enjoyed as adults too. All segments included in the entry price. And yes the entry price for foreigner is 100 baht but you can’t get into any attractions in Europe for 100 baht, so just pay and enjoy the day…and if you find the right time you can see the rainbow :)

Very very big botanic garden! Very well maintained by the team. You can see many flowers and greens here! It's like a natural oxygen bar! The air is very fresh and the weather is very comfort too (at mountain area). Entry fee is fair. I paid 400 bath for 4 adults, 2 kids (free), 2 senior (free), and 1 car (free). If you're on a family trip, here is a best place to drop by. Oh ya, the canopy walk is definitely the highlight in this botanic garden! There's a parking for every attraction spot. You can drive all the way to each attraction spot, well, if you like to hike/walk, by all means, just do it. :)

It is a place that gathers many different types of plants, both local and foreign plants. There are natural walking trails that are not too far away. I went when some spots were closed for renovations. If they are finished, there will be things to see and be beautiful.
I've been here almost 10 years ago. For anyone who wants to study about various plant species, this place is very suitable for you to stop by and have a look. You should have all day.

Wonderful collection of flora. I like the way they've grouped plants together of a particular type/characteristics in each of the ten covered greenhouses. As example, you have a greenhouse full of carnivorous plants, Arid plants, Water plants, Bromeliads, Medicinal plants etc. The biggest greenhouse is the magnificent tropical forest complete with high level walkway and water spray. Remarkably it's free entry for over 60's. There's also a nice outdoor rose garden, popular with Thai people wanting selfies.

There are a lot of great spots here actually. From the frog captivity, some protected wildlife, flora, fauna green surrounding.
All are just so nice and worth visiting. Summer time is a good time to visit I assume, as you will see the green landscape clearly and get a chance to explore the open space of wildlife.

Want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city? The short drive out here will do the trick. 140 baht for entry and parking for car is so worth the price. Bring comfy walking shoes and some water. Can walk around all day throughout the massive gardens in all climates and lands. Kid and adult friendly. They have food and cafes scattered throughout the venues and also have a few more paid attractions.

Definitely worth a visit! Instead of spending a few hours there as originally planned, we spent the whole day there. There was barely anyone, the park is huge and extremely beautiful!
You have food and drink options and you can go with your car or scooter or walk if you wish.
Super interesting museum too, loved the environmental part.

Well worth a visit.
The garden is quite extensive. We started with the Skywalk where you walk amongst the tree canopy, excellent views of the Gardens, and Doi Mon Kwham Long. Next we drove to the top of the Gardens, and walked around the various glass houses - each had a theme.
There's a couple of gift shops for souvenir hunters.
Entry fee of 150฿ p/person, and 100฿ for our car is worth it. Allow 1-2 hours to tour the Gardens.

A huge and lovely garden. The garden is very well maintained. There are glass houses with tropical plants and different variety of cactus, spectacular spots for photo taking. You can also visit the canopy walk for a scenic view of the surrounding forest and hills. As non-locals, we paid 150 Baht per person to enter, and an additional 100 Baht coz we were driving. Definitely worth every penny!

Fantastic for plant lovers, we spent 3-3.5 hours there and it could have been a whole day if the weather wasn't so rainy. Only wish it didn't start raining so we could do the canopy walk as well.
Don't skip going on foot on some hikes! It's gorgeous and very well taken care of.

Beautiful and well maintained big park. There's an entrance fee of 150B for adult and 100B for child, baby ( 2 yo below) is free. We can drive the car in with a fee ( 100B). Physical map is given or can scan the digital map. The best part of this park you can drive and park in all the attraction rather than just walking. we came late and finished the park in an hour. Probably need 2-3 hours to go to all attraction. we chose our attraction including canopy walk ( 15 minutes ), complex glass house with fountain in front) ( 20 minutes). The rest of the park is a beautiful scenery with some buildings ( museum, info centre)

A lot of trees and flowers species. Nice for sightseeing and many exotic plant to see. You can visit the canopy walk which about 15 minutes walk all along the way. Exploring the garden's canopy walk adds an adventurous element to the visit, allowing visitors to observe the lush foliage from a different perspective. The elevated walkway provides a unique vantage point for capturing stunning photographs.
One of the most striking aspects of the garden is its diverse collection of flora, meticulously curated to showcase Thailand's rich botanical heritage. From exotic orchids to towering bamboo forests, every corner unveils a new botanical wonder waiting to be explored. The themed gardens, such as the Rainforest Garden and the Conservatory, provide immersive experiences that highlight different ecosystems and plant species.
As the day progresses, the sunlight filters through the canopy, casting enchanting patterns on the forest floor. While the heat can be intense, especially during the summer months, the garden's strategic placement of shaded resting areas offers respite for weary travelers. You should bring an umbrella or a hat with your walk.
Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural heritage, offering an enriching experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, this botanical gem never fails to captivate and inspire.

The Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park is a tourist attraction in Chiang Mai that offers tours through their elephant poop-to-paper process, as well as a cafe and shop. I love sustainable businesses and conservation efforts. This business grows then trades bananas to all of the different elephant rescues for the elephant poo. This saves the poo from being burned (pollution), makes jobs (for Elephant Poopoo Paper Park), and is able to create products to sell without cutting down trees to make the paper. It is a win/win situation all around. I loved it! I wish more people would think outside the box like this. At 100 baht per person, I think it is very reasonable.

We enjoyed the craft workshop - you're given basic materials to make your own notebook/picture frame/passport holder with cut out shapes to glue on. They make fun gifts for friends and family. Visit if you have kids or want to make diy poop stuff or shop in the (well stocked) gift shop, otherwise I think it's not that great. They have a lovely staff, the tour has about 4 quick stops where you see the steps of making poop paper, and the final stop is the diy workshop. Without the diy it's barely 20 minutes long. There's a cafe on site with a playground, pretty good coffee and some snacks like french fries and a few simple meals. A good stop if you have other things you want to see in the area. No elephants on site. Yes, you will get to hold elephant poo!

My kids really enjoyed this experience! Top note -- there are NO elephants here. It's more of an experiential education area. A guide walks visitors through the process of taking elephant poop and transforming it into paper. It's all very well done, we had fun, and there are quirky bits everywhere. The tour ends in a art/craft activity zone for kids -- it's a nice break from standard tourist fare and we enjoyed seeing our kids make a final product after the tour. The gift shop has lots of nice novelty gifts. Definitely recommended for families. Small cafe on site.

Tiger Kingdom is a popular zoo that provides opportunities for visitors to interact with tigers in supervised enclosures. It is also a wildlife preservation facility that takes proceeds from visitors to support the tiger population and protect the species from extinction. The tigers at Tiger Kingdom are reportedly less aggressive, possibly due to their diet of chicken and milk. Overall, it provides a safe experience with professional supervision, making it an enjoyable destination for tourists interested in witnessing these majestic animals up close and personal.
I debated whether to go for hours before - seeing comments about drugging and the tigers being treated cruelly made me worried. After seeing so many positive reviews on here I decided to give it a go and make my own opinion, and all I can see is WOW.
The animal keepers were so friendly and clearly loved working with the tigers, and the tigers clearly loved their keepers. They talked to them, rubbed up against them like domestic cats, and we spent ages watching two cats running round playing with a bunch of leaves, happy as anything.
The animal keepers told us about their routines, how they look after the tigers and train them, and explained the strict rules that the government imposes to ensure the tigers are looked after fairly and ethically.
We waited 15 minutes to feed one tiger because she didn't want to sit down. The keepers did nothing, just kept encouraging her whilst letting her do her own thing.
The cages are not massive, but tigers sleep 18-20 hours a day. When they are awake they get turns in outside enclosures. They all have access to water.
Reading the varied reviews and going myself makes it quite obvious that most of the people posting negative reviews have never set foot inside the place. You should never judge a hook by its cover.
I am a big animal lover and it breaks my heart seeing animals treated cruelly in any way. I felt so happy seeing the tigers, and would highly recommend it!

There are many tigers and two leopards in the park. You can take pictures in the cage under the leadership of the staff, although the price is a bit expensive. Compared with leopards, tigers are more docile. I think the tiger is more cute. When you touch it, it will have various expressions. Remember, you must vigorously touch its back and butt! It would be good if these tigers can thrive under the protection of human beings. The park is not big. If you don't have to take photos of every animal, you can visit it carefully within 30 minutes. Tickets are 150 baht, if you want to interact with the tiger and take pictures from 750 baht (including tickets).

Was entirely impressed with virtually everything, and it blew away our expectations. The facility itself was pretty high quality. There are many options to interact with tigers at various sizes and life stages. The trainers were great, interactive, seemed to have great relationships with the tigers and we felt safe under their instruction. We went in the morning on a Wednesday and it was not very busy. The tigers were more active in the morning and by the time we were leaving some were getting much sleepier, so that can change the experience you may be looking for. The tigers seemed happy and alert and were used to humans, and everything seemed above board. For us, we particularly enjoyed the “smallest” ones as they were fun and you could play with their toes and big ones who were super chill. The medium ones were like teenagers who were more active and curious and had to pay the most attention and respect. But we could pet all of them and even got to lay on the big one and belly rub the big and small ones. Overall this was an amazing experience and one that is helping to build back some tiger population even if in captivity.

You can decide how much money you spend, but if you want to be with the pups and the large Tigers close up you can except easy close to 3000 baht. Spend some one on one time with these impressive cats and you will enjoy every moment. The staff is very friendly and they will make sure you get plenty of shots with the Tigers. Just follow their instructions and you will stroke all of them or walk right next to them.

Amazing and Beautiful animals......... Its wow to see how well they interact with the trainers........ And the guides take good care of you... Always a few of them around you guiding with all the small dos and donts.... the tiger cubs were too cute.... as big as fully grown dogs but very cute playful behaviour.....
You can only stand very close to the animals and touch then and take pictures with them only from behind..... The trainer told me that he knows my smell not yours so not allowed to approach the cats from the front. I would definitely go again.... my kids loved it.... and it's very very intimidating to be around these Majestic Animals

I don't know who the people are that wrote these 1 star sad reviews. You're entitled to an opinion of course. But as someone who was just there a few weeks ago I just don't see what they're talking about. I saw beautiful tigers that are well taken care of in a beautiful place. I paid for the complete tour which gave us access to all the tiger enclosures for my wife and I. She is an animal lover( especially cats!) We were looking for the bad things. And she had the time of her life- literally one of the best days of her life. We saw no abuse. They were NOT drugged! Tigers are naturally more docile during the heat of the day and these tigers are used to human interaction. It was spotless clean. And the staff were as much in love with those tigers as we were. In a world where there are so few tigers left in the wild how can anyone disparage people that care for them and are trying to bring awareness to the problems they face? I would recommend the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai to anyone.

We went in to see the tigers here and was pleasantly surprised by how clean the place is. It wasn’t really stinky at all and the tigers looked healthy. They do have a decent sized living space to roam for the most part, although they have to be kept in cages at times for various reasons like cleaning, separation, etc. I don’t promote the practice of keeping tigers in captivity, but these animals were born at the park and would not survive in the wild. The guide gave some good information regarding the tigers and I learned that they had transported one in from Ontario. An interesting experience.

Near the Karen village and Elephant camp, a best place to visit tiger ever. With 700 baht you can take photo with so nice and amazing tigers Bengal. Also can visit the others and even feed them. Will come again when i come Chang Mai.

Informative visit, very clean habitat. Opted for adult tiger and cub interaction. Get ready for a multipage waiver to enter the area. They will take all the photos with tigers and sell you a CD with a bunch of pics. Small restaurant overlooks pools and play areas for the cats, incredible to watch these enormous animals swatting at palm fronds being waved by attendants. Awesome experience.

AmaIng experience. Staff is very friendly, helpful and kind. Animals look good and seems they are taken care of very well. Staff do not force them to do thing or punish them what is important to really enjoy encounter like this. Baby tigers was super cute and playful, we could easily spend there whole day with them having fun.

Great experience stroking the baby tigers. They seem well looked after and happy. Lots of staff on hand. The big tigers are a bit too scary for me to play with but many people were happy to.

It was a magical experience of being able to pet a tiger! Was a bit hesitant to go cause some reviews said the tigers may be drugged but they didn't look drugged, they were active and the 1 year olds were running around, playing. Some were sleeping but maybe cause cats do sleep during the day, and also some were newborns. But anyway, we had a great time! they're a bit intimidating in person, especially the big ones but the staff there coordinate everything well.
Would go again

Beautiful tigers are been taken pretty well at the park. The park is really only for some photos with different tigers. Many different sizes to choose from from baby, small, mid, large, white, etc.

I visit the small tiger - lotus flower - during my visit. The staff are polite, nice and helpful and very knowledgeable. You are welcome to ask any questions, no matter regarding tigers or not.
Appreciate that they are doing a good job on protecting the Tigers.
Can feel they love tigers from their hearts!

Absolutely amazing! This was such a cool experience that was definitely worth the drive. My sister was brave enough to lay with them, but she was completely comfortable and felt safe.
I didn't really enjoy the photos we were given from the photographer. So if you have your own camera, you might have some luck taking your photos. But that's totally up to you.
Everyone working there was super nice and had a great sense of humor. I wish I was able to do that every month!

This place is awesome. I had a great time. The trainers and handlers are very professional. There is no abuse or drugging of the animals here, like some of the comments here. Those comments are most likely from people who follow the false science too much. Anyway, I had a great time and will sure return again. I highly recommend Tiger Kingdom to.anyone who loves big cats and wants to learn more about wildlife.
Mae Sa Elephant Camp is a conservation-focused attraction located in the hills north of Chiang Mai. Visitors can view elephant shows, baths, and rides.
An elephant camp justnoutside of chiangmai.
Almost 60 elephants are kept here with great care from their mahout.
A good place to get close and experience extraordinary activity with elephant: feeding, bathing.

This is the best elephant place I've been too. I love it that it's free admission, you don't have to spend a fortune to visit the elephants but you can donate. The free admission motivated me to spend more on food and feed every single elephant in the camp. Bought a few baskets and spent long time with the elephants. Loved every single one of them.

This is my second time visiting elephant sanctuary. Unfortunately they have suspended activities since COVID-19 due to low tourist attendance. So for now you can come visit and help feeding 6 daily rotating elephants. If you are looking for any type of shows, this is not a place for you. This is more to the purest purpose of rehabilitation of elephants. They do sell hand crafted items and freshly made coffee. Please consider this as an educational visit rather than looking for a circus ring. These people are genuinely care about the well being of elephants and they need more support. The entrance fee includes the feeding basket too.

It's a nice little place you can go to feed some elephants. They have two other activities to choose from. At this time entry was free and no crowds.

In Maesa Elephant Camp, a few huge elephants were roaming around with their respective trainer and the elephants seem to be well-trained. The welcoming site includes elephants happily bathing in the river and the cheeky ones would splash water from their trunks at tourists!
The elephant show at Maesa Elephant Camp was really entertaining. It was certainly very impressive to witness the skills and patience mastered by these elephants. The elephants can perform and paint so well! The paintings of the well-trained elephants were on sale at the end of the performance so that visitors who are interested in the paintings can purchase them.
At Maesa Elephant Camp, visitors can experience riding on the elephant at an additional cost through the tropical jungle of Chiang Mai’s Maesa Valley. I skipped the ride partly due to the very long queue and it was mainly sad to witness the poor elephants working all day long under such hot and humid weather. However, my experience with Maesa Elephant Camp has left me with mixed feelings.

❤ Entrance ticket 300 B/person. and banana fruit basket 100 B/basket. You are free to buy more bananas to give to the elephant
There are 4 elephants in the cage for everyone to feed and pet.
Elephants are very whiny and cry loudly when guests come, they are very smart and cute.
Please try to feed the elephants evenly, don't just focus on the adorable elephant in the first place.
The campus is wide but you cannot go deep if you only buy ticket 300B.
There is also a ticket for 800B that includes: making food for the elephants, and bathing them (seem like that).
What we like most is the spacious, airy campus with many natural rivers and streams
But different fun shows to experience more with the elephants, we will try to find out more in the future and will leave a review 🙏🙏

Wow, what an incredible experience it was at the Maesa elephant camp in Chiang Mai!
We drove around 30kms from Chiang Mai to reach the camp. The place is quite offbeat and surrounded by nature and greenary.
When we got our tickets, we met our guide who was super cool. The camp is beautiful from inside, it’s super green, well-maintained and has a waterfall as well.
Our guide then gave us clean uniforms with everything we needed—clothes, caps, and sandals. The changing room and bathroom were really clean, and they even gave us lockers to put our belongings in them.
We got to do so many things there— from making elephant’s meals to preparing their medicines, feeding them, taking selfies, and giving them baths. Our guide knew so much about the elephants; he introduced us to some really old ones, like 70 years old!
Plus, he helped us get some amazing pictures.
We had an amazing hour long session inside and later we took a bath and they took our uniforms and shoes away to be cleaned.
If you're in Chiang Mai, check out this camp for a fun day with friendly elephants!
And YES! There’s No riding allowed.

The elephants are all well taken care of.
I used to come here with my family before covid time. It was super happening. Sadly due to the covid, the place don’t have any show right now. However, do call them to check before you come if you want to see the show. Nevertheless, the place still brought me so much joy. The elephants are so friendly. It’s great to be able to spend my time here. 🥰🐘

Beautiful location. Friendly staff. There where a couple elephants you can feed. The rest of the elephants where not there and walking free. We slept in the mountains near the camp. The camp closes early and you can see them after closing hours walking free from the road side. You get one free basket per ticket you bought. After this a feeding basket costs 100 bath. My children loved it.

Not the best experience and resent the fact that tourist pay more to enter. This is not an immersive experience location, just a few elephants behind barriers that you get to feed a basket of fruit.
The elephants did not seem to have enough space to walk around. You are better off paying more and going to a site where you can walk and play with the elephants.

Nice elephant camp. Good for little kids if they are not scared of elephants. We paid 300B per person ( adults and kids same price, 2 years below is free). Only cash accepted no credit card. Given a full of basket of bananas each. when i was reading the review we thought it was free. Anyhow apparently you can upgrade your entrance ticket to 800 B per person to interact more with the elephant ( activities and bathing them). Beautiful well kept place anyhow. only 4 elephants that we could feed , the rest are in other places . the activity took almost an our and great for little kids with short term span.

Allowed us to walk in for a great price, elephant fruit basket included. 4 elephants available for feeding, apparently there are 90 more in the back that we do not have access to. Very beautiful spot and workers seem to have personal connections to each elephant.
Mon Jam is a very popular spot for tourists in Chiang Mai because of its 360-degree views of mountains and flowers, located on a mountain ridge. The garden there has stunning views that can be enjoyed while eating traditional Thai food.
Amazing place for so little entry fees. The garden is absolutely fantastic. You could spend hours there taking photos. Make sure you dress up! We got there by motor bike, it was relatively easy ride. Last few minutes, we encountered some steep bends but its doable.

This place has an amazing view, once I have travel to this place those flowers are very beautiful, I love how they manage their area to plant different types of flowers and made it looks good together. When I was on the top of this place and looked down, I saw a nice view of flowers and mountain with blue sky in one frame which is very interesting, it's make me feeling better and very happy. I wish that next time I will be able to see the night view of this place because the day view was already good, I might because I was very lucky to choose the correct day that have a good weather, however, this is a good place that I want to recommend everyone to visit.

Big swing was still in operation so you can take in the stunning views.

The nature is beautiful, peaceful, the weather is cool all year, there are many cafes, flower gardens, and accommodations, but they are expensive. There is a market for ethnic groups. The route is small, has many curves, and is steep. Drive with caution. Recommended to visit

Parkings are limited. Local community will collect some small fee like 20 Baht per car for parking at the road side.
Then you need to walk about 100m towards the peak. Alongside the road, there are stalls selling local produce including fruits, nuts, flowers and local made cloths. Price for cloths are reasonable and can ask for discount.
At the peak, there is entrance fee of 60 Baht per adult to enter the garden with amazing view. Most people who do not want to pay for entrance would have a drink at cafe next to entrance.

Must see if u can get here. Roads are tight and steep so make sure you have an experienced driver!!! Food n gifts are about as cheap in price as it gets! The flower garden and sky trails are amazing to see. If u can stay for the sunset, its also super nice to see. Again, u better have a good driver if sun has set!!!

Just a small hill with beautiful weather & scenery all around. Other than that, there is nothing else there. Lots of tourists make the place lesser serene & natural, of course. Ideally, should restrict traffic motion severely, and grow beautiful gardens and walkways to enjoy a quiet sojourn. More like a nature trail with mountain top cafes, that can be accessed by walk.
p.s. don't forget to look at the picture of the strange fella with a mask. Seems like pure O2 is not his thing! Or perhaps COVID is floating around?

Mon Jam is a picturesque destination nestled in the highlands of Mae Rim district, a serene escape from the bustling streets of Chiang Mai city. The journey to Mon Jam itself is an enchanting one, as you navigate through winding roads, flanked by lush landscapes and terraced farms. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted with a panorama that's nothing short of breathtaking. The hilltop vantage offers expansive views of valleys veiled in mists and the distant, rolling mountains.
The locale is famed for its agricultural prowess, showcasing a variety of crops, including strawberries and flowers, which are cultivated by the local hill tribes. The cultural influence of these tribes is evident in the vibrant market stalls, where you can sample local produce and handicrafts. Mon Jam's restaurant scene is a delightful surprise, with eateries perched on the edge of the hilltop, serving farm-to-table dishes that are both authentic in taste and presentation.
For adventurers, Mon Jam offers trekking paths that meander through the highland terrain, revealing hidden nooks and stunning scenery. The climate is pleasantly cool throughout the year, a welcome respite from Thailand's heat, making it ideal for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Mon Jam is not just a feast for the palate but also for the soul, with its tranquil environment and scenic beauty offering a perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection. It's a must-visit destination for those seeking a connection with nature, culture, and the simplicity of highland life.

That's what's beautiful:
- The place is located on a beautiful lawn with great views
- I really liked the pumpkin and mushroom soups. Perhaps of those I have had in Chang Mai this is the best, so the soup is 10/10
What I didn't like:
- The pizza was a big disappointment, and although they have a wood-fired oven (everything you need for pizza), the dough was wet and soft. There was no crust.
- We were alone (another couple came in 20 minutes after we ordered), but we got everything we ordered in 40 minutes (the last one was pizza).
As for prices, we can say that this place is in the middle price segment.
Overall nice place to visit to have some memory but do I want to go there more and more? Maybe only for pumpkin soup 😅

This zoo is cool apart from the dual pricing for foreigners :/ the butterfly inclosure is cool I loved the displays as I walked in and at first I thought they seemed to care about the animals as they didn’t let me hold the caterpillars as the cream on my hands could harm them BUT as we got near to the end there was a box of about 6 bearded dragons no water provided no food one of them seemed to have pretty severe nose rub and the one they let us hold was extremely lethargic almost seemed like it’d been drugged? There were two scorpions we could hold and I’m 99% sure one of them was dead I’m no reptile expert but they seemed to be kept in quite small cages if you’re not from Thailand do not tip as they overcharge you anyway.
The Chiang Mai Erotic Garden is a place where erotic sculptures are displayed. It is a very beautiful garden with many different sculptures, and it is run by a passionate super host named Khun Tai. The Wat Pa Dara Pirom Buddhist Temple is a beautiful and tranquil temple complex in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The buildings are exquisitely decorated in traditional Lanna style architecture, and the grounds are lush with tropical plants and trees. The temple is popular with tourists, but it can be enjoyed without being crowded. There are many monks who are available to talk to if desired, but the atmosphere is so serene that it is easy to just enjoy the beauty of the place without speaking.
Impressive Temple. Definitely worth 2 hours of your time. If you're in Mae Rim. The nice thing about this Temple is there is something special every which way you turn most of the buildings or the shrines are somewhat unique but definitely impressive everywhere you look. And there's lots to see. The monks work hard at keeping it clean. And patrons from the neighborhood work hard at welcoming you,

You can spend time strolling the perfectly manicured gardens and wander in and out of the ornately decorated temples and places for prayer.
You may get a sense from my pictures just how peaceful and serene it is here.

Bai Orchid & Butterfly Farm is a charming greenhouse that houses a diverse array of butterflies, plants, and orchids. Visitors can also enjoy the beauty of rows of gorgeous orchids while sipping on refreshments at the on-site cafe. The farm is a popular stop for tourists exploring Chiang Mai, often combined with visits to Mae Sa waterfalls and hill-tribe villages.
Indeed there are no butterflies and there are not so many orchids but I am sure it's due to COVID. The orchids which were blooming were amazing, huge place for restaurant closed. I think the orchid capacity was under 10%. Butterflies I have seen 2 but outside of the butterfly area. Hopefully the business will bump back soon, would be a pitty to loose such an experience.

I am not a gardener, my wife is, so her review would be better. Lol
However, saying that the place is well maintained and the staff are helpful and will explain things if you ask. They make sure the best displays have been brought forward so your experience is as good as it can be whilst taking photos and walking around.

Awesome, beautiful place. Lots of orchid varieties and great butterfly enclosure. Big restaurant area. Bar as well. Only not 5 star because I expected the orchid and butterfly enclosure to be bigger. Can see all of it pretty fast.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in stunning orchids, Thailand has an amazing history with these flowers, and they were absolutely breathtaking. Additionally, there was a lovely butterfly garden filled with numerous species of butterflies. We enjoyed our scrumptious lunch that was served as a buffet. I particularly loved the assortment of desserts, with the deep-fried bananas being my favorite.

Stopped in here with a group of friends and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was super friendly and the place was very clean. The food was really good and very reasonable price. The Butterfly exhibit is great and the orchids in rows & rows are just gorgeous. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area or make it a part of your destinations to visit while in Chiang Mai. Enjoy the pics.

I absolutely loved this place. The orchids were so magnificent and all were in bloom. You can tell that these orchids are so loved and well cared for. I took so many photos of flowers and then there were butterflies too! I mean you hit the jackpot here. Chasing butterflies makes everybody happy. Just go! It is beautiful and fun.

Beautiful orchid greenhouse, stroll along the peaceful alleys enjoying the beautiful colors of the Orchids and the sound of calming running water fountains. They serve a superb lunch buffet and don't forget to stop at the shop where you'll find exquisite jewelry made I'd flower petals or butterflies wings , hand painted t-shirts and colorful scarfs.

Its a short trip in and around the butterfly farm. Quite touristy as you will see some tour buses stopped here. The butterflies are located in a greenhouse and it was quite marvellous to see them all in one place. Beautiful flowers. Worth visiting but nothing extravagant.

Perhaps not the best time of year for the garden and butterflies. Staff very welcoming just wish there was more to see would like to see more butterflies only has one enclosure so quite small for a farm.

Although the space is quite small, but it is nice to see different kinds of orchids and colorful butterflies. They sell lovely earrings and other accessories shaped like butterflies and orchids.

Small Orchid farm with a small butterfly house.
They sell beautiful orchids (natural and jewelry) and have a small restaurant/ café.
Our driver took us there from Wat Phra Doi Suthep for 400 Baht extra after our visit on the mountain temple.
We arrived too late to try the food and had only 30 Minutes for the farm, but still we saw everything (and still spent 15 minutes in the butterfly house)...so it's rather tiny.
It's nice if you are in the area or passing by, but from my point of view not really worth a dedicated trip without anything else to do before/ afterwards.

Good place if you are interested in prchids. They have a good garden and even ornaments made of the dead flowers. However, there is an entrance fee.

The butterfly farm is filled with beautiful butterflies and flowers. But the orchid garden is very small. This is a nice spot to spend 30 minutes with butterflies.
The Canopy Walk is a suspended walkway above the forest canopy that offers stunning views of the mountains and gardens below. While walking along, visitors have the chance to spot flying lizards, but even if they don't there are plenty of beautiful sights to see. The walk is enjoyable and not too long, allowing for an early exit if needed. Information about the area is available in English and can be translated into Thai as you go.
An excellent addition to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden.
Walking, looking down at the forest from above, you understand much better how impassable a tropical rainforest can be and how easily you would get lost.
In short, it is a super luxurious way to experience the wild, and amazing nature :)

Excellent views from the canopy walkway, no doubt about it. If you are wanting to see birds, bring binoculars. I could hear (but not see) several different bird calls. Not sure it's worth the trip up the mountain and the 250 thb just for the canopy walk, but the combination of this and the rest of the botanical garden is definitely worth the drive. The gift shop had a few nice items, and the toilet was clean. Didn't try the coffee shop.
John K — Google review
Great idea to have this addition to the Botanic Gardens and no additional cost, just show your entry ticket. In fact even better, I'm over 60 and Seniors enter the whole area for free, this is quite unusual in Thailand. I had the walkway to myself most of the time as I was there just after opening time at 8.30am. I would recommend going early particularly for the end of walkway platform if you want to take photos/selfies there.

It is just a few hundred meter walk. Not scary. (But someone might get scared). While it is nice, I would not do this again. It seem not worth the time getting here from the city and the ticket price. Just a canopy walk in the forest, no flowers, and not a nice views.

The biggest Botanical Garden at Canopy Walks. Bring your sun creen and hat and enjoy a sight to see.
E O — Google review
Throughly enjoyed the Canopy Walk, wish we saw some flying lizards but there were plenty of beautiful sights to make up for it.
The walk is enjoyable and not too far, you're able to exit about 1/4 of the way before getting to the main viewpoint if it gets too much.
A good portion of the information along the trail is in English but the rest can be translated as you go from Thai.
I high recommend visiting, it took us about 30 minutes to go around at a leisurely pace.

Fantastic trip out of Chiang Mai for the family. Our three year old loved running up and down the walkways and looking out into the canopy. Price is reasonable as well, we paid 400 bhat for two adults, a toddler and a car. This gets you access to the canopy walks and the Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens as well, which as also worth checking out.

Walk to see the view at the viewpoint. When walking to see that the view is very beautiful. Easy walk Even if taking the elderly along, it's not difficult. And the staff are very caring. But if going in the rain, the park will not allow visitors to visit.

A great canopy walkway, very picturesque! A lot of opportunities to make cool photos. I love that this trail doesn't really interfere with the local ecosystem, that's smart. You don't need to buy a separate ticket to here if you bought a ticket at the main entrance. If you walk through this canopy trail slowly, it might take 15-29 minutes tips, it's not too huge. Although I recommend this place.
Alexander Fortuna — Google review
It was great that there was no additional cost for the canopy walk, only show the ticket from the entrance and that's it. The view along the walkway was spectacular. The walkway barrier is high enough to ensure safety. I highly recommend visiting the canopy walk in the morning since the afternoon is pretty hot. There were also a coffee shop and a souvenir shop as well as the restroom in the canopy walk building.

The Darapirom Palace Museum is a critical piece of Thai history and features beautiful architecture from the last princess of the Lanna Kingdom. The museum is lovingly restored and features important artifacts from Princess Dara Rasmee's life. There are plenty of interesting signs to explore, as well as friendly staff who are always happy to help. The grounds are also very pretty, and there is ample parking available.
A well-kept small palace of a Lanna’s princess who married a Thai king. Not to mention 20-Baht entrance fee for all.

A nice stop for people interested in Thai/Lanna history. The grounds are beautiful and we spent about 45 minutes here walking around the museum. Two things stood out -- I loved the old pictures -- they impart a nice sense of an older era, and I loved the textiles. The museum is a little outside town but good to pair with other activities in the area.

Princess Dara Rasmi’s most beloved house is situated near Darabhirhom Temple. You get a glimpse of history as if you would go back 100 years before.
Her room, her way of dressing, and many of the furnitures are very well-preserved.
If you already pass by Wat Pa Darabhirhom, drop by to see more of historical site from the time of King Rama 5.

The Buddhist temple Wat Phraphutthabat Si Roi is a beautiful temple which enshrines 4 marks of Buddha's footprint. The temple also has an ordination hall in Lanna style which is beautifully built. This temple is recommended for enhancing auspiciousness.
This is a place highly prize d by locals and wealthy Bangkokians who like to donate buckets of money on weekends (apparently).
Once a year ( mid March ) there's something of a pilgrimage at night time from Saluang, just north of Mae Rim, lasting up to 15 kilometers or so to the temple.
One may walk or drive and join in along the route.
It's a bit of slog, takes a few hours, but highly enjoyable if one is with the right crowd or with the small joyful procession with many of the villagers chanting on their way.
There were times when this old fella slipped behind his group but enjoyed the full moon light and spiritual atmosphere as he ascended the twisty tree lined road uphill.
Occasionally there are swarms of boys on fancy roaring motorbikes passing by, so watch out!
If you head out from Saluang area it can take a good 4 hours to reach the temple.
The temple has a wonderful old heart to it, but is gradually morphing into something of a Buddhist bling park with lots of LED colour parked around delightful moulded serpent architectural detail.
Around the temple is a small admirable village with some fine examples of Karen teak houses. Lovely and well maintained.
The trees and views are gorgeous.
The temple is an expanding incomplete work of art, well worth a visit, even just for the nature and scenery.
One of the monks seems to be a bit of s local favourite, can talk lots and amuse his audience.
The pilgrimage itself was fantastic, largely die to the warm hearted fun spirit of those cheering the walkers onwards and offering refreshments at several intervals along the roadside.
It is a safe environment even though the road is very remote at times. The people are incredibly friendly and generous
There are often slightly bizarre situations, such as cars and campers in dark locations where enthusiastic teenagers and other locals leap out from the lay-bys with torches to offer ice cold mega sweet canned or fresh local coffee, warm rice soup and many other free delights without a single baht requested.
An overwhelming brotherhood feeling of joy.
Absolutely great, but probably a once-in-lifetime effort as by the time the temple monks chanting and narrative s had clocked onto 10am, one's legs, feet and hips were too tired to talk 15km downhill again.
There are few places to sit for the weary walker but the space is so open and clean it is easy enough to to lie down some where and borrow one of the huge towel blankets presumably intended for itinerant monks.
Not a venture for the faint hearted or those wearing worn out flip flops.

This is one of the hidden gems up on the mountain of Mae Rim. A must-visit and must-see for Buddhists.
The mountain is very steep and full of sharp turns, so please be careful when driving.
The facility is very clean. The bathroom is well taken care of. There is a nice little cafe at the bottom of the temple built by Kanom Thai Kao Pi Nong (ขนมไทยเก้าพี่น้อง) that served good coffee and decent foods.
You will be awed by the meticulous details of the temple and the stories of Buddha on every wall. The architecture is amazing, and I am happy that the temple is in an excellent shape.
I only wish that the moderator of the temple would not do such a loud announcement consistently and allow the visitors to have the peace of mind in the temple.

Mae Rim Elephant Home is an incredible place where elephants roam freely in a natural environment. You can feed them, walk with them through their forest habitat and enjoy the surreal experience of bathing the elephants in a mud bath!
Unforgettable experience 🤩🐘🐘🐘
Small place but elephants are well treated and in a natural environment.
Instructive for adults and children.

Loved the experience, really fun and enjoying for all age groups - for kids and adults! Starts with a small briefing about the language used by the elephants.. yes, they have a language! Then, feeding a lot of food to the elephants! Phototaking, shower time with elephant by scrubbing them non-stop and finally ends with a pad Thai meal, fruits and drink.
This is really recommended for everyone! Book in advance, it will require 3-4 hours of your time. Tony the guide knows good English and he made the experience even more worthwhile. Do not book with the hotel, you can book directly with them!

Very good place to taking care of elephants, no riding on them. We enjoyed doing the foot spa for the elephants. Walk with them to the forest and end up with taking them a bath in the small river. The guide/ instructor is so kind, friendly and helpful his name is Tony. We are so much impressed and would like to be back again. The activity start from 10.00-12.00 am. Definitely worth for the ticket of 1500 bht.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The tour starts with a change of clothes. Then Jimmy (our guide) provided an engaging elephant education. We helped scrub the elephant’s toenails. Afterwords we were provided what seemed to be an endless supply of bananas to feed the elephants either by trunk or by saying “bon soon” so the elephant knew to lift their truck so that we could place the bananas in their mouth! Wow! Then, we all walked along with the elephants in the jungle on our way to the river. At the river, the elephants laid down and we could help give them a bath. The visit was very intimate and not rushed. Jimmy helped with photo taking throughout the 2 hours. Overall a once in a lifetime experience!

There are only two options below:
- 500 Baht for feeding and petting for 30 minutes/person
- 1,500 Baht for full activity-feeding, bathing, and petting for 2 hours plus lunch/person. I have heard they have 2 time slots per day.
Ps. If you have no tickets, you are not allowed to go inside the venue.
In my experience, I did the 500 Baht version. I got a big basket of bananas and free photo shoots. YES, the elephants are trained to do some photoshoot tricks (this is on your consideration, I am fine with it). I find the trainers taking care if the elephant very well and they deeply love their jobs.
I think the 500 Baht is not worth it, you can also do it in another place that sells in basket for 20-30 Baht. This place keep some elephants to entertain some visitors at the front, which is relatively small.
There are some coconut and soft drinks available.

I’m all for animal enjoying their natural habitat. With that said, these animals looked healthy and seemed to enjoy the poses and activities for special treats. Nice place, Tony was a great guide, Pad Thai dinner was very nice, elephants were well fed and cared for. I wish they'd had a little more space, stimulation/toys in their pen and maybe some nice big shade trees in their pen. But they were very sweet and seemed adapted to interacting with the public, which undoubtedly keeps them stimulated all day. All the facilities were as needed: shower with good pressure for blasting the mud out of crevices, change of clothes for bathing with the elephants, flip flops, lockable lockers. Everything needed was provided including regular cold water.
A little easier access to the water areas would be cool as it was pretty treacherous/I took a pretty good spill getting into the mud bath area. Still nursing that scrape. But in all a super fun and heartwarming day. Tony was super mindful that I'm a fat old guy and continually checked in to make sure that I was doing okay, which I appreciated.

We had Jimmy as our main guide. They were fun, and funny and really looked afttus guests and the elephants wonderfully.
They have only 4 elephant whom they rescued from show life and they now live here peacefully enjoying being fussed over. All the animals, dogs and cats included looked healthy and well looked after.
At no point did I feel the elephants were being forced or unhappy to do anything. They have a great life of being spoilt since they'd not be able to live outside of captivity.
Definitely recommend this experience!

This is a true simple and meaningful and respectful for the elephants compare with riding them or see their show to paint or soccer playing. highly recommended for everyone who would like to know more about elephants and respect for them....2 hours program we get some information about elephants and then we prepare food for them and feeding them, we will have foot care to them and we have a walk with them to the river side....at the end it is very fun to brush and bathing with them in the river! Tony is our guide and he is so kind and take care all of us! Visited Chiang Mai more than 5 times and already tried all of the activities here and this one I would highly recommend to come and have a unique experience!

The fee was on the higher end, but the experience was worth it! You basically pay to have some experience to be an elephant caretaker and get pictures. At the start our guide gave us lots of facts about elephants, some words to communicate with them, and introduced us to the elephants. He mentioned that the elephants are rescues from ayutaya.
We were then given opportunities to feed the elephants before giving one a "feet spa" and taking all of them for a walk. The tour ended with us talking them to the river for a wash. The elephant caretakers were gentle to the elephants the whole time, and you can tell that they really cared for them.
FYI, the elephants spray themselves with sand/ roll around in the mud to keep themselves cool as they don't sweat through their body. It is not the elephant caretakers purposefully spraying them with sand to make us wash them on the tour!

The monkey centre is a tourist attraction in Chiang Mai, Thailand which houses a large number of monkeys from the surrounding areas.
Many negative reviews based purely on the notion of "animal cruelty" which I honestly was not naive about, but sort of stuck with given I was on a tour group... I think we should neutral in the arena of cultural sensitivity. The relationship that the native people have with animals is something westerners may not understand, such as the the symbolic nature of the elephants to Thai people. Won't deny the potential of animal cruelty at this venue but I also don't doubt the love that they have for the animals off stage, despite what we observe on stage.

It was fun to interact with the monkeys, but the monkeys themselves looked board and rehearsed. In my opinion the snake venue we went to right before was way better. Perhaps go to monkeys first then snakes and tigers.
