Akooishi Shrine is a significant and revered Shinto site, characterized by the striking statues of the 47 legendary ronin of Ako that line its path. This sacred shrine holds immense historical significance as it was once the dwelling place of the leader of this renowned group. Its tranquil and serene atmosphere is awe-inspiring and provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to learn about this captivating story.
This was a cool shrine dedicated to the 47 ronin. It was neat learning the history of the event. Seeing statues of them on both sides as you walk into the shrine was a neat thing. My goal of getting a new shrine stamp book was also a thing i was happy I could do whole here.

Hyogo Prefectural Ako Seaside Park is an ideal family destination that offers a picturesque lake, a petting zoo, themed play areas, and a fairground. With its bike monorail and ample attractions for children to enjoy, this park is perfect for families with kids aged 0-5 years old. Games and rides are a little bit aged, but fun nonetheless. Great playground near the ocean. Bring a blanket or tarp with some local takeout for a nice picnic. The wait for the pedal boats was a little long at 1 hour even though it wasn't very busy so plan ahead if you plan to do that activity

Lovely park with great children's play equipment and activities to ensure little ones don't get bored. The walk around the pond is lovely, or you could hire a paddleboat. In some places shade feels limited.

Go search for, and dig out, clams and mussels from the oceans edge and tidal pools, which is more fun than you think. Search online for information on season timing and location.
Take along shade and a large bucket to bring back your catch. The tide comes in and out but there's always a good spot for digging up the elusive shellfish. Watch others to figure out the knack.
There's plenty of parking available and a separate beach for other water sports like kite boarding and wind surfing.

It feels empty. Maybe because of the current situation where the country is still fighting against coronavirus, this park has a wide man made lake for boath rentals and other amusements. Going trough here will lead to the beach side

Park by the ocean. I went there for the Ako triathlon. There is a kemp site too. The water in the inner pond was murky in the summer and I got many finger tip cuts while hitting the bottom covered with shells while swimming around the inner islands. If you do triathlon there don't forget the tire repair kit. Many edges and small stones.
Ako Castle Ruins, a 1600s fortress linked to the legend of the 47 Ronin and renowned for its spring blooms, is a charming local historical spot. The ruins allow you to stroll around and discover where the rooms once stood and what their purposes were. During cherry blossom season and autumn's arrival, it is an ideal time to visit.

There are literally exhibits about Ako's culture and history, but the main themes seem to be Ako's salt (salt making technology), the old water supply system, and Ako Gishi.
It's interesting to see the variety of tools that were actually used to learn about the salt production process, but since salt fields no longer exist in the world, it's a little hard to get a feel for it.

Speaking of Ako, what comes to mind are "Ako Ronin" and "Salt of Ako," but this museum is also nicknamed "House of Salt and Yoshishi," and it depicts Ako's history, which is said to have continued since the Genroku Ako Incident and the Yayoi period. Valuable historical materials related to the history of salt production are on display.
It was founded in 1989 with the main theme of Ako Ronin and salt.
On the first floor, there are many valuable cultural assets related to salt production on display, such as salt-making tools that have been designated as important tangible folk cultural properties by the country. On the second floor, there are materials related to Ako's Gishi, Ako Castle, the castle town, and Ako's history. There are exhibits related to waterworks.
Over the long history of salt production in Ako, the salt production methods have evolved and the tools used have been refined over time.
Nowadays, salt is produced in large quantities in factories, and although there are not as many people involved in salt production in Ako as there were in the past, it is difficult to imagine just how many people have been involved in salt production, and the depth of the relationship between Ako and salt. You can learn about it again.
In addition to cultural assets related to the salt industry, the museum also houses many ukiyo-e prints of loyalists from the Chushingura, allowing you to experience valuable historical materials related to Ako's history.

Will the plum blossoms be in full bloom soon? A plum grove and daffodils at my feet. Cherry blossoms and 🌸 are good in spring.
I almost drive past it thinking it's just a rest stop on a curve.
The parking lot 🅿️ is also big. The only thing there is a restroom🚻 and a vending machine.
Kirakirazaka etc. are featured, so is this a hidden gem? Like.
However, please be careful as there are many places where footing is difficult.
There is a promenade all the way down from here along the coastline (^-^)
Rather than stairs, they are wooden stairs on an earthen slope. The steps are uneven and slippery. Just be careful.
As you descend, the sea opens up. From there, you can actually walk sideways on the paved sea (^-^)
If you don't mind getting wet, you can go in or stand on the rocks, but be careful as it gets deep quickly and is rocky.
It continues all the way to the other side, so if you're not sure if you can go all the way, go back. It's quite difficult to go up and then go back up again, or to turn back and go up again, so it's better for small children to be prepared for adults to flop around (sweat 😅)

There is a parking lot in front of the park, but there is also a parking lot in front of the park. The park is located on a hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, and within the park stands a statue of Kuranosuke Oishi, an Ako samurai. It is a park that makes use of the slope of a mountain, and in early spring, the cherry blossoms planted on the slope beautifully decorate the mountainside, and the view of the blue Seto Inland Sea and Ieshima Island floating in the sea is beautiful. Especially on a sunny day in early spring, the contrast between the blue of the sea and the pink of the cherry blossoms is beautiful. The cherry blossom season is crowded with tourists, so the parking lot in front of the park is often full, so you'll have to look for a parking lot near the park. There are no play facilities in the park, but there is a grassy field where people with children can play ball, eat lunch, or rest in tents. The park's facilities include benches, a building where you can take shelter from the rain, restrooms, and vending machines.During the cherry blossom season, a kitchen truck comes by and sells simple meals. Even outside the cherry blossom season, the view overlooking the Seto Inland Sea is beautiful, and many people come to see the sunrise and sunset.
