The Jaisalmer War Museum is a patriotic exhibition hall that showcases the history and information about the Indian Army, including its operations and wars fought. It offers visitors an insight into the operating conditions of the army as well as details about their past missions. Most of this information is already available in public domain; however, it can still be informative for people who are unaware. The museum also displays original tanks and equipment used by the Indian Army, making it a unique experience for some visitors.
Visitors will get to know many things about how Indian army operates, the conditions in which it operates, details of Indian Army operations till date. All this information is available in public domain so most of Indians might already be aware of it - for those who aren't, it's a must visit, specifically for kids as they will learn something new about our beloved country. Also, they might not have seen original tanks & other equipments used by Indian Army, so it might be a first time experience for them.

A great effort by Army to remember national hero's & also a small gesture to pay our respect towards their services to nation. This also inspire our next generation to join defence forces & serve the nation. They should show stories of different battles of defence forces .

You must visit this place if you love our Indian army. This is little bit out of city. Here there are many actual armour kept which Indian army has captured from Pakistan army in war with Pakistan. Which includes army tanks, guns, and other armoury. One feels proud to know the history of our brave Indian army. Here you can get a guide also if you have near about 15 persons group. Guide charges are around 400 for a group. Audia visual 12 minutes show is also there, but ticket cost is extra. You can take combo ticket of museum entry and audio visual show ticket. 1.30 pm to 3 pm this audio visual show is closed for lunch time.

To get a good visit of the place enter the place about at 5pm(get there earlier because getting a ticket might take time due to huge crowd). 1 hour would be enough to go around the place , read and feel the area. At 6pm get yourself the evening show ticket which starts at 6:30PM. That's something I felt is the best thing here and believe me it's gonna make you really emotional at the end of the show.

A great place to witness all the glorious past of the Indian Army. Entry ticket cost is ₹55 - ₹30 for the entrance and ₹25 for the AV show. We didn’t go for the AV show, so you may not wish to purchase the tickets too. But we were not told that it’s optional. That’s a bit disappointing.
The place is very well maintained. There’s a souvenir shop inside and a small restaurant near the entrance.
There are two memorial halls describing the main highlights of the Indian army.
Definitely recommended ✅
I would like it that they clearly mention the separate costs for entry and AV show, and tell the public about not necessarily buying the AV ticket. That way it would make it more transparent.

Tanot Rai Mata Mandir is a notable Hindu temple situated near the India-Pakistan border. The temple, which has colorful shrines and displays Indo-Pakistani War memorabilia, is managed solely by BSF. It has a rich history associated with it, including surviving 1300 bombs dropped during the India Pakistan war of 1965 due to the power of faith. Restrooms are not well-maintained and mobile signals are unavailable in this peaceful location.
A temple with Historical importance . Managed by BSF, a must visit. When there, do ask for its story & experience awe. Proud to be an Indian! Post this, do visit Longewala..

One of the finest deity temple visited by me in Rajasthan. The temple is located near the Indo Pak border and is the true example of Mata ( Godess) blessings bcoz of 3000 bombs dropped during Indo-Pak 1971 war none of it actually exploded near the temple!!
The temple is surrounded by sand dunes and calm place to observe Indian army performing aarti every evening and morning and offerings by the devotees.
The premises consists of well and a victory stone of India.
The temple is symbolic representation of Indian army strength and valour and it is managed by BSF. It is a must go place for tourist who visit Jaisalmer.

During 1971 IndoPak War lot of bombs were thrown on the temple by Pak Army but not even single bomb exploded that's the power of Mata Tanot Rai! Now this temple is under BSF. Now BSF is looking after this Temple. Very much developed. The well shown in border movie is still there as it is. I just felt blessed by seeing at her! Within the hallowed confines of a temple, one discovers not just a sanctuary of stone and mortar, but a profound sanctuary of the soul. It is a place where time seems to stand still, where the cacophony of the world outside is hushed by the gentle whispers of reverence. In the temple's sacred architecture, each intricately carved pillar and delicately painted mural tells a story of devotion and faith, a testament to the enduring human quest for connection with the divine.
As sunlight filters through stained glass windows or the flickering flames of oil lamps dance in the dimness, one cannot help but feel a sense of awe and humility. Here, in the temple's embrace, the worries of everyday life melt away, and the mind finds solace in the quiet contemplation of higher truths. Whether in grand temples that touch the heavens with their spires or humble shrines hidden in remote corners, each one carries the weight of centuries of devotion and the hopes and dreams of countless souls.

Had the good fortune to visit the historic Shri Mateshwari Tanot Rai Temple located on the Virbhoomi of Jaisalmer. Well maintained, neat and clean.
It is believed that during the war of 1965 and 1971, hundreds of cannon shells were fired at this temple by the enemies but they did not explode and due to the blessings of the mother, there was no damage to the temple and the people of the area.

Mud Mirror Guest House is a basic accommodation located on the southern edge of Jaisalmer Fort overlooking a neighbouring Jain temple and old city below. The guest house consists of four rooms with decent bathrooms and a rooftop terrace serving Rajasthani thali. The friendly hosts, Surya and Lalaji, can help arrange desert trips and can also serve you a mean meal from their restaurant onsite.
The staff are amazing and were very accommodating for when I had a broken foot. They assisted with booking a tour and were always friendly in general. The food is nice. The room has AC and a fan, it has a balcony and a nice bathroom too. I loved staying here and was sad to leave. There's a rooftop restaurant with lovely food. Location is perfect inside the Fort. Excellent place to stay inside the fort. Mr. Surya and his brother were very accommodating, we checked in very late at night and they were available to carry our luggage from the fort gate to the rooms. Rooms themselves were also nicely decorated and offered great views of the Jain temples and the fort. Highly recommend to stay here for at least one night.

As part of our 8N/9D long Rajasthan trip, MudMirror guest house was our first stop at Jaisalmer. We decided to stay inside the fort, hence chose MudMirror guesthouse because of its prime location, just beside Jain mandir and 1-2 mins of walking distance to all major attractions that are within the fort. We are very happy to share that our stay was excellent primarily because of the view that we got from the window of our room itself and from the roof top restaurant- see snaps attached. This place is definitely value for money and surely recommended if you want to get a feel how people live within jaisalmer fort and the fort itself to say the least.

Both the manager and worker were soooo lovely. We did a ‘non tourististic’ camel safari with them and that was awesome too.

We visited this beautiful museum in May. Since it was off season, only we two were present to watch the puppet show. We thought we won't be able to see it because only 2 were there. But we are so thankful to the management that they kept the show only for us! What a wonderful gesture it was! The performers showed us puppetry performances like Ganesh poojan, horse rider, sword fighting, a magician, a girl dancing etc.
We also met Shri N. K Sharma (head of the museum). Museum also has preserved so many things about Jaisalmer. This is an amazing place, full of knowledge. It contains collections and information on humanities, history, geography, culture, etc. collected by the old curator. The curator is a wise elder. His books provide a concise introduction to local literature and history, and he is also willing to explain it to tourists. His knowledge is respectable. The puppet show was also very good and interesting. Many people came to watch it with their families in the evening, and they performed short stories. Unfortunately, I don't understand Indian, but I can still feel the fun. It really made us spend a happy time. It is a place that is highly recommended for everyone to visit.

I didn't have much expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I have never been to a puppet show before and thought it was really impressive. The music and singing were good and the puppet master was talented. Not really any English is spoken but I didn't find I missed it. Only thing I would change is less pushing to buy something. Let the experience be the purchase and give a donation to the artist if you want.

I highly recommend visiting the only puppet show and museum in Jaisalmer, which is run by an 87-year-old teacher named NK Sharma. It is truly incredible to witness the passion and expertise he brings to this unique form of art. The museum offers two shows per day, beginning at 6:30 and 7:30, with ticket prices at 150rs and 50rs for camera use. Before the show starts, visitors are treated to informative footage about Jaisalmer on TV and then there are 4-5 puppet acts which showcases the beauty and traditions of Jaisalmer. After the show, visitors have the opportunity to purchase their own puppets as souvenirs. Overall, this experience is not to be missed if you are in Jaisalmer. It is a true gem and a testament to the dedication of NK Sharma to preserve and share this beloved art form with the world.
The City View Point offers an amazing view of the city and the fort from a height of 307 meters. The tourist attraction is open throughout the year, and admission is free for tourists. Visitors can walk around the fort or take a ride on one of the many toy trains that run through Jaisalmer.
Best place to enjoy the serene beauty of the City of Jaisalmer. It's located on the Northern side of the Fort and you can come here only by getting into the Fort. Sometimes Google Maps suggests that there's no need to enter into the fort but no, you need to enter into the fort to get to this point.
MUST COME IN MORNING TO HAVE THE BEST VIEWS.

It is a point close to the Fort from where one can get a bird's eye view of the city of Jaisalmer. It is not a very large city and one can see the whole city with a 360° turn.
There also appears to be a cafe or a restaurant of a similar name, but it was closed when I went at 8 in the morning.
There is a huge cannon placed there, since ages, I guess.
Just a place where tourists aggregate to get a glimpse of the town's expanse. The way is through narrow streets that slowly climb upward.

Kothari's Patwon ki Haveli, part of a series of early-1800s palaces, is now a heritage museum showcasing intricate carvings, furniture, and artwork. It was built between 1800 and 1860 by five Jain brothers who made their fortunes in brocade and jewelry. The privately owned first section of the haveli has been turned into a museum that offers rich insights into life during the 19th century.
Must visit.
This place has the most beautiful carvings and I am still mesmerised at how this was done in ancient times. If you are in Jaisalmer, you can’t miss this place for sure. Do get a guide and they will be able to show you the best out of this place. It has such unique ancient luxuries that you will be surprised to see that such things existed in the past.

So so. Its an residential building of old trader. Here you find their utensils, clothing etc. The architecture of the building is nice. Guides says that the building can be separated in pieces and can move to other place and can fix there. Penting inside the building and crafted work on the walls of the building is very nice.

Very good museum depicting rich family lifestyle in those days.Hidden drawers, Double sided fan, kerosene based fans, fridge, imported camera with 15+ minute wait time are some of the interesting artifacts. Do take a guide here else you will skip lots of things and multiple rooms are like a maze. Also he knows the photo points so would be your photographer cum guide.
Jaisalmer, a historical city located in the western part of Rajasthan state in India, was once a prominent trading hub during medieval times and also served as a princely state. The town is famously known as the "Golden City" due to its distinct yellow sandstone architecture that can be observed throughout its structures. Jaisalmer Fort is the most notable attraction dominating this picturesque skyline; it's a hilltop citadel fortified by 99 bastions that offers an impressive panoramic view of the surroundings.
Bada Bagh is a popular tourist destination featuring a collection of elaborately designed stone cenotaphs that honor the royal family and date back to the 16th century. These structures serve as cremation sites for the kings, and are highly photogenic, attracting people for pre-wedding shoots. To fully understand their significance, visitors will require a guide since the inscriptions on each monument are in different languages. The site also boasts numerous trees planted using water from this location.
Best place for visit. This monuments are built in memories of who dies from royal family. Each monuments have their own story. There are so many trees are planted by utilising water here.

When someone from Kindlgs family dies. Their family creates a tomb of him here. Most of the older toms are ruined by now.
Nothing much to do or see here but if you are going towards Tanot mata temple, it’s on the way to temple.
Can spend 15 to 20 Minutes here.
But I will say if you are not going tanot mata temple ( border). You can easily skip this place. No need to visit this place specifically.

Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh is a garden complex located about six kilometers north of Jaisalmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
Wonderfully sculpted cenotaphs and chhatris of former rulers are the special attraction of Bada Bagh. Pay special attention to carved pillars, beautiful sculpted chhatris, inscriptions and architecture of Bada Bagh.
Asha Latha Kapu — Google review
Somewhere amidst the ochre-coloured landscape of the Thar Desert, yellow sandstone domes highlight the remnants of a bygone era. These are the cenotaphs of Bada Bagh in Jaisalmer, built in memory of Rajasthan’s royalty. Perched atop a hill, the site offers breathtaking views of the horizon and the ever expanding desert. Every evening, the empty tombs are bathed in an orange glow as the sun begins to set in their backdrop. But no flowers bloom in its surroundings, and barely any greenery is visible across the landscape.
Achal Patel — Google review
It's a beautiful collection of Chatris (umbrellas) as they call them. These are shrines built in the memory of royalty and other prominent people of the royal family.
It's on the outskirts of Jaisalmer. Barely a 20 min drive from the centre of the city. The roads weren't fully paved when we visited. So expect the ride to be a tad bumpy and a lot dusty.
I don't recommend buying tickets in advance if you are visiting in summer. It's the off season and there'll not be a lot of people visiting Jaisalmer.
Gadisar Lake is a large, man-made reservoir in Jaisalmer. It is popular for its temples and migratory birds, and is one of the best sunrise photography spots in town.
It is a wonderful lake and must visit place in Jaisalmer. Do try to visit before sunset. Boating facility is available but it is overpriced.

The lake has a good surrounding around it which you can feel after a tiring day of visiting other tourist spots of Jaisalmer. Visit at the last around sunset time to get its beautiful view of the mesmerizing sun beaming down its rays on the lake water.
There is also boat riding in the lake and puppet show opposite the lake(timing for the show is around 6:30 pm).

A beautiful water body in Jaisalmer. The spot offers Light and sound show which is quite spectacular. The narration is good. The boat ride is nice and prices are around Rs150 bargainable. The best time is before sunset. The small chattris and other royal constructions makes the place extremely photogenic.
The lake has huge number of catfish which can be seen near the lake side. These are huge is size.
The down side is the lack of maintenance. The path from entry gate to lake is stinky and smell of urine is common in the air. The path is uneven and presence of cow-dung is common.

If you want to enjoy calmness and peace with beautiful view, visit this lake, you can do boating also at very reasonable charges. Few know eating-coffee outlet near to enjoy that too. You may get some local artists to hear some local songs as well.

Not much to explore, although you can do boating & sit peacefully under the trees in the shade. The local people have made it really dirty by throwing biscuits and breads into the water for the fishes to eat. Please avoid doing so if you visit the lake.

I don't think that this stop is necessary or that it's that worthy. At the same time, it's one of the few things that you can do in Jaisalmer.
Prepare for the fact that everyone local at the place is prepared for you. To get to the place, you need to pass something that looks like a market for tourists.
In any case, if you come to the place, you will make few nice photos. The stop if worth about 15 minutes of your time.

They say, in Jaisalmer, visuals at the eye level are stunning. But the moment you turn your head southwards, they get really repulsive.
The lake is no exception. It’s a treat at dusk. A boat ride, pictures in traditional attire, horse ride are some of the activities that can be engaged there.
A light and sound laser show at 7pm is a pleasure.

The ambiance and tranquility of Gadisar Lake make it a must-visit destination for those exploring Jaisalmer.
This museum preserves the history and culture of Jaisalmer in a compact space. It features items related to music, fossils, kitchen hardware, manuscripts, turbans, weapons, and other traditional Rajasthani artifacts.
The museum is personally curated by Mr. LN Khatri to save the heritage of Jaisalmer. Artefacts are personally procured and kept for viewing. We were fortunate enough to receive a personal guided tour by Mr. Khatri himself, he was extremely passionate about each piece and explained the uses of historic pieces and the importance of saving the culture. Do visit once and support the local business, it'll be a gift which we'll be giving to the next generation.

Absolute scam!
It just a random collection of mundane things and mediocre photographs which you can find in any household. Despite being called as thar heritage museum, this house (I won't call it museum) has very little things to do with thar.
The owner is as shady as one can get and has absolutely no knowledge of thar and it's tribal history. He wrongly mentioned 'Bhil' is the only tribe in thar when there are many.
Sad to see rampant corruption in a place where one is supposed to learn about history and culture. Most of the review that you see here might be fake.

Vyas Chhatri is a beautiful example of Rajasthani-style architecture located in Jaisalmer. It serves as a cremation ground for Brahmins and features stunning yellow sandstone cenotaphs dedicated to the sage Ved Vyasa, who wrote the Mahabharata epic. The intricate stone structures are situated on an elevated platform and offer picturesque views from atop a small hill. Jaisalmer Golden Stone Resort - desert safari camp in sam sand dunes
Kuldhara Abandoned Village, a sprawling sandstone settlement in Rajasthan, was deserted in the 19th century and is reputed to be haunted. It is a must-visit for those interested in Rajasthan's culture, heritage and haunted stories. Although the village can be better managed, it remains an intriguing historical landmark with broken huts that give tourists a glimpse of how it might have looked long ago.
The camp stay was very good, clean and hygienic.
The Jeep Safari arranged by the camp was thrilling and exciting while safe as well.
The food was good interns of taste and hygiene.
The cultural programs were also very well arranged. We enjoyed every bit of it.
Recommend to book this camp and take back a bunch of memories home from the dunes of Sam

Nothing much to review about out here, the village was abandoned centuries ago and there are remains that we may not be able to relate to. This is something that travelers can totally skip , unless you like to watch ruins and walk a lot. Instead of this spend time at the camp or in the desert with the camels.

What we like:
1. Clean tent. We can call it room also as it was made from brick wall with a cloth piece giving a tent feel. But it was pretty decent tents.
2. Even basic tent is enough for a couple, even with 2 kids. Don't pay extra for royal tents.
3. It costed us 3500 + 1000 (which includes jeep safari and camel ride)for a couple per night which is again decent for tent at that location.
What we didn't like:
1. The cultural show was very, very basic.
2. Fire show was promised, but they didn't perform it.
3. Bonfire was also promised, but again, it didn't perform.
4. Tap water was having salt content (we pressume it was from borewell). Although, while marketing, they say that 24hrs hot water is available but this is not the case. It is from 6am to 10am even then the water was not hot enough.
5. Jeep safari was too short. Just a minute ride in sand dunes and it's done. We just started enjoying and it finished in flash. They promise for 3 sand dune dessert but it's hardly a minute ride in first 2 sand dunes. And 2 minutes in last sand dune. Thar vehicle transport you from resort to those dunes. Travel time is hardly 15min from resort to sand dunes.
6. Camel ride which was included in package was just 100m ride. Promise was made for 2.5km.

Desert Haveli Guest House is a low-key guest house situated in the heart of the Thar Desert, between two big cities, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. The property offers complimentary Wi-Fi access in all areas and very friendly staff that took care of guests well.
Dushyant is a great host. He will make your stay at Desert Haveli comfortable. The room is neat and clean. Our room had an amazing view towards the city.
Dushyant can also help organize non-touristy desert safari if informed in advance. This is a must-try and well worth the experience if you want to spend the night under thousand stars in the desert, away from any other tourist, and eat traditional dishes cooked on wood fire.

Very kind people, best service, best hospitality, rooms are unique as their Haveli is atleast 450 years old, the sunrise view is perfect from some rooms(rooms having windows east facing) and the rooftop, anytime you order anything to eat, it is served fresh and hot.

It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a marvellous property. The Haveli, exquisitely maintained over the centuries, has retained a real sense of old-world charm.
While the building itself feels ancient, the addition of modern amenities (private bathroom, air conditioning etc.) means you’ll be more than comfortable during your stay here.
The room was clean, spacious and quiet with breathtaking views from the golden fort. The upstairs rooftop (additionally a restaurant) was also a fantastic spot to relax. The staff were all very well mannered and considerate.

We had a great time at the haveli. The place location is perfect, inside of Jaisalmer fort, just give minutes walking from the main gate. Service is good and the haveli and rooms are beautifully decorated. Just one issue was that one of the windows has a metal frame (the rest are sandstone and wood) and pigeons made a lot of noise when perching on that specific window. They actually woke us up early in the morning 😂. Other than that everything was great!

He will give you the package of camel ride, Jeep Safari, night stargazing in Sam desert, also in khuri desert..
He will insist you to take non touristic package because it's peaceful and really nice.. As per me he is the best host anyone can ever have.. If you're going to jaisalmer and didn't stay inside the golden fort and it's just meaningless because golden fort is the only fort all over the india where you can stay inside the prince/princess rooms and experience a whole lot of different things..😇

So where should I start?
1) After 2 hours of gruelling travel, we checked into the hotel, got asked for the full payment upfront else we won't be allowed to check in.
2) After having checked in, the power was cut and there is no power backup to beat the heat.
3) For the group of 24 ppl, we were provided with only to jeeps because "our children are not accounted for during the counting".
4) In the name of desert safari, we were taken to a village without desert and only stones.
5) Their untrained camels got up while one of the kids were climbing them. The first time that I've witnessed such untrained camels being used with tourists.
6) They don't let you sit out of the room if it has hit 11 on the clock.
7) No bill provided for lunch. Card payment is not available. They use the card machine of their nearby petrol pump to avoid paying taxes.
While I can only tell you about my experience, and hope that you don't book, but even if you did, please make sure to not give the complete payment upfront.

One of the most interesting places I’ve ever stayed in. Fantastic location and ambiance, super clean with attention to detail. Great views from the room and the lovely rooftop restaurant. So far my best accommodation in India.

Best property inside the fort and the host Mr Dushyant is amazing. It is a beautiful 400 years old haveli and the rooms are very neat and clean. They will help you with everything and recommend some of the best desert safaris.

A wonderful little hotel with only several rooms in a 400 years old palace in the very center of the walled fortress of the 12th century. Great location, next to the Jain Temple, main attraction of the walled city and close to lovely roof top restaurant. The roof top terrace of the hotel is also a very nice quote place to spend some time in the evening, looking at the town below.
We have staid in 3 different rooms and they were all different since it’s a historical palace, vue they all had a unique own character.
The hotel manager and staff were very helpful, kind and accommodating.

We had a great time at his heritage site. The rooms are auspicious and the best part was the night-city view and sunrise from the roof top restaurant that the hotel has. The service is the best that you could get in Jaisalmer. Mr. Taj- the home keeper took an extra effort made sure we comfortably get to Jodhpur and made breakfast at 5 am in the morning.

We just had our trip to Jaisalmer. We stayed there in Desert Haveli Guest House inside the great Jaisalmer Fort, popularly known as Golden Fort, i.e. Sonar Kella. The view from our room window and from the rooftop restaurant was just fabulous. One thing I must mention here.. We were served by two staff there namely Taj Md. and Abdul bhaiya. Their service and behaviour was just awesome. They are indeed a very good human being. If you go there and stay there in this hotel, you will personally realise how good they are. One example of their hospitality is.. We reached there in the hotel too early. We have our baby with us. So, we requested to arrange a room for us. They arranged us another room immediately to get ourself refreshed. They did everything possible to serve for us. We are so satisfied with their service.

I had an outstanding experience at the hotel, largely due to Dushyant's exceptional assistance and guidance. His attentive service and valuable recommendations greatly enhanced my stay, creating truly memorable moments. I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent customer care, with Dushyant standing out as a key asset to the overall positive experience. I will certainly return or recommend it to others if I find myself in Jaisalmer again.

Very poor service.
Over exploited us.
We arrived at night. The guesthouse owner refused to provide extra blankets to us. He in the morning demanded extra money even when we paid the money at night itself.
Charged us over price of Rs 30 for water bottle with MRP 20.
Worst tea served in morning and that too was cold. No water in taps. we could not even use the loo.
The Palace is encompassed by vast stairs that lead down to Amar Sagar Lake. This magnificent palace exhibits an ancient architectural style, which adds a unique touch to the structure. The view of the lake from the palace is awe-inspiring. Amar Sagar Lake is known as one of the most stunning temples in existence, but it has unfortunately dried up. The Jain Temple, with its intricate wall carvings and multiple stories built on top of another temple, is impressive in size and design.
It's one of the most beautiful temples I have ever seen. Unfortunately Amar Sagar Lake was dried up but I can imagine how beautiful it would have looked if it was full.
The place really feels like a movie set if you see it from the top of the temple gallery.
The Jain Temple is really huge and has elaborate art carvings all over the walls.
It's multi storey temple with a complete built on top of another temple.
The area around is so much peaceful, you spend hours there. Greenery inside the temple compound is very impressive.

With its calm backwaters, Amar Sagar Lake is a tranquil tourist destination in Jaisalmer. This lake is located close to the Amar Sagar Palace that is another edifice in Jaisalmer. The palace is beautifully constructed and houses enchanting murals. This place has emerged as a frequented tourist site and is completely navigable. The tourists can enjoy boating at Amar Sagar Lake.

AMAR SAGAR LAKE
Amar Sagar Lake, located about 7 km towards the western outskirts of Jaisalmer, is a lake cum oasis lying adjacent to the Amar Singh Palace. The palace itself was built in the 17 th century. The complex that includes the palace and the lake is also home to several ponds and wells, along with an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Numerous figureheads of animals carved in stone surround the lake, and according to legends, these carved figureheads are supposed to be protectors of the royal family. At one end, there are pavilions with stairs that lead down to the lake; while at the other end is a beautiful, aesthetically carved Jain temple. A peaceful and tranquil place, the Amar Sagar Lake is yet another spot in Jaisalmer where you have an opportunity to watch a gorgeous sunset.

Somehow we managed to reach there and what we found, the lake was completely dry and not to forget, it was winter. Put this last in your trip.
The WelcomHeritage Mandir Palace is a luxurious hotel in Jaisalmer, within walking distance of the famous Jaisalmer Fort. The hotel has spacious and elegant rooms, as well as a seasonal outdoor pool. There is also a restaurant and 24-hour front desk.
The hotel is actually a palace where in one part the royal family lives. It is very neat and clean and situated at a very convenient location. The staff was extremely helpful. Pool area was good. Breakfast buffet was tasty but limited options.
I will highly recommend it to anyone traveling to jaisalmer

Gorgeous palace, great location, good restaurant. The carvings are exquisite, antique tiles, tasteful decor - felt like royalty. Don’t think twice - proximity to the fort & market is good with car access to the doorstep (unlike properties in the fort)

I spent more than 30,000 to enjoy two days at Jaisalmer. but this has turned out to be a nightmare. The entrance of the hotel is super pathetic, there was no one to tell where to park the vehicle, and the arrival itself remained truly unconvincing. After reaching the golden suite, it is nowhere close to a suite, smaller than a normal room, literally giving claustrophobic feeling, for which spending 30,000 is truly ridiculous. The position of a c is in front of the washroom!! Food was pathetic.
My overall experience is so horrible that left in one day itself, sacrificing 15000 rs. for mental peace.
Never ever book in this one.

Amazing stay. Beautifully maintained. Will give u royal experience. Visited here on a rainy and windy day, and the palace looked glorious. The manager was so welcoming and polite, and I had a good talk with him. Staff was humble and willing to assist as needed. The room and washroom were clean and felt like a home. Thanks for the stay. ☺️

The location of the hotel is really nice. The hotel is very well maintained and the staff is great. The royal family is so warm and friendly. We loved the fact that they meet their guests. We have stayed in so many Heritage properties but it was the 1st time we got to meet the royal family. Totally floored by that gesture of theirs. There is manager called Bhoj Ji. He looks after all the guests so well and will make you feel at home.

PRO:
1. Excellent Property
2. Very friendly staff. Professional and courteous.
3. Good food.
4. Close to the main market.
5. Spacious rooms.
CONS:
1. You need to walk around and explore the property. If you dont like to walk... it can be an issue.

I visited the museum section which is open for visitors at this site and there is an entrance fee for which you are allowed entry into one section of this palace which is converted into a museum which is maintained well by I assume is managed by the Hotel authorities managing this palace. Well maintained and nice display of several items used by the royal family.

We went to see the museum inside it. Tickets are way too overpriced in comparison to what you will see inside. And separate tickets for the phone or camera as well.

Echoing some of the negative reviews, I would also NOT recommend anyone to stay here - whether you are a local or are visiting from another country. My family and I have been touring Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh for two weeks and have stayed at a lot of great hotels so we know what good service/accomodation looks like. The hotel manager had confirmed with our travel agency representative the morning of that our specific rooms (deluxe) are available and ready. When we arrived, the entrance was not welcoming nor was the manager who checked us in. Despite booking two separate deluxe rooms over six months in advance, he gave us ground floor smaller rooms which were congested, had ton of foot traffic/noise from outside and even a hole in the wall from which lizards were coming in and out from. When confronted about these issues we were met with “we are always fully booked so cannot change your two rooms today but will do tomorrow.” The next day, manager said he can only change one room because they were fully booked. This kind of behavior and dishonest service was not what we expected from a hotel claiming to be a “4-star” place. It the hotel manger is unable to manage the flow of guests, it is best for him to pick another suitable career. We were there to enjoy our time and come back to sleep in a relaxing place. Instead we were met with constant inconveniences and a dishonest hotel manager providing us with god awful customer service. The restaurant, restaurant staff and service staff were great however. Those working for less money provided us with a. better service than the hotel manager. I would save your hard earned money and pick a better accomodation.

This is a great heritage property with stunning grounds and great staff.
The breakfast was hit or miss. Some of the Indian items were good while non-Indian items were average or below. Dinner on the terrace was excellent....we had 3 dinners here and each one was different and fantastic.
The location is interesting....it is in the middle of the city and can be fun if you are interested in the hubub of a small Indian city. We bought fresh fruit and spices from local vendors. Red chili (dried) and cumin are special in this region.

We stayed here in December 2021. The place is clean and well maintained and at a walking distance to the fort and other parts of the city. The staff and the manager were good hosts and took care of us. The suite was tastefully set up and we had a comfortable stay

Had gone their to visit the Palace, they charge near to 160 per person + 30 for camera.
Most of the places are for access by the guests of hotel. It houses some of the items used by Royal family, dress, weapons, utensils, coins, records etc.
I would say the museum is worth. But not for this exorbitant money.

There is a Museum attached to Mandir Palace Hotel,it's called The Mandir Palace Museum, One of the worst places to visit at Jaisalmer. Felt like we entered a local market, entrance was stinking. INR 80/- is charged to show some 20-25 utensils, dresses of erstwhile Royal family. The entire Museum tour was over in 15 mins.
Longewala Yudh Smarat was free for public where as here, so called Royal family and the Trusts they have formed is looting people and public.
Instead of wasting your hard earned money, better have good food for 80/- (and more as per your orders) at Chandan Sree Resturant which is just outside Mandir Palace Museum.

Being owned by a royal family, this property does not host you or even try to leave a royal impression on you. It barely scrapes through the checklist points in a decent hotel. The food is average but the heritage and the artwork in the property is commendable. Definitely worth a visit but the stay will leave you asking for more.

This was my wife's and my first time in Jaisalmer. This hotel is a cherry on top of all the sights and history the city had to offer.
Very nice rooms, hospitable staff across the hierarchy, really great breakfast/lunch and rooftop restaurant that gives an amazing view of the Fort and city (to an extent), and the historic Mandir Palace to explore for free as guests of the hotel!
The best part of the hotel for us wasn't the rooms, but the free-roam explorations it offered. Everywhere you look is picture-worthy.
10/10 would recommend

This review is purely for the Ticket based room tour, not the hotel.
Just skip it and save your time and money. The exterior of the building is the only good part.. will be disappointed after buying the ticket.. and the addon ticket to click pix using mobile phone.. which was ridiculous and there was nothing worth to click! The exterior building is the only good part.
Long story short, just skip this place, the other Havells are much better to see from inside. This one is not worth your time.

Overall, a comfortable & memorable stay, highly recommended for travelers to experience Royalty and Heritage..!
As a last-minute booking, I got a room in Anexxe, not in the main heritage building, which has beautiful rooms, amidst ancient architecture, impressive access, and layout.
The staff is very polite, caring, and totally dedicated to serving the guests
As in many hotels, restaurants have limited capacity, so usually there's waiting for being seated for breakfast.
Within the property is an impressive museum showcasing owner family owned ancient artifacts, documents, cooking utensils, robes, and weapons.

We stayed there on 12th and 13th december. A memorable experience to stay in a palace. Rooms are big with ample space. Clean and well decorated. Staff behavior was excellent. In the complimentary breakfast a few more options should be added. The whole property is excellent. Location is in the heart of the town.

Our check in turned quite chaotic due to lack of communication between the booking/marketing team (sitting in Delhi) and hotel management. We were promised twin beds but they provided an extra bed in addition to the double bed in a separate room which was not acceptable to us travelling as friends on a girls trip. The hotel manager, Mr Bhoj Raj offered us the other executive heritage suite which had another bed in the same room (though not twin bed yet) and seemed more comfortable to us. All this was only managed after spending 2 hours going back and forth which caused us great stress and inconvenience. The hotel didn’t provide any other facilities to help improve our experience.
The hotel was stunning in its decor as it’s a replica of the actual kings palace in the fort and the royal family still resides there. We loved the beautiful carvings and intricate details on its walls.
The hotel staff were all local people who were polite and helpful. However, they seemed less trained to be able to communicate with hotel guests and we felt that the manager could definitely do with some proper training in communication and hospitality. It seemed like they were too hesitant to accommodate little requests such as a couple of hours late check out etc. we also felt that they missed having female representation in their staff which is very important in todays times when more and more women are travelling on their own.
The food was local and delicious but we felt that drink choices were limited. They could do with a happy hour and a few cocktail and drinks menu.
We also felt that they could have a shuttle bus or small van service for the guests visiting nearby fort and other sights. As there are no taxis or Uber in Jaisalmer, the only option to commute is an auto rickshaw which is open and dusty.

I really liked this property. Because this property is royal, its architecture is very nice, but the reception and service there is very good and the food is very good, absolutely perfect, so now whenever I go to Jaisalmer, I will stay at Mandir Palace. And thank you very much for giving me such a great service.
