The Danubiana art museum is located on the banks of the Danube, has an outdoor sculpture garden and hosts contemporary art exhibitions. It is a world-class institution with a dramatic setting.
Amazing place, great art in the middle of the Danube! Spent here a few hours, one of the best memories from Bratislava. Easy to access by bus, only 32 minutes from the inner city. They served delicious coffee in a beautiful sitting area. Highly recommend for anyone!

Very nice, tranquil and picturesque location. Be building is cleverly designed. Art pieces both inside and outside at the time of visit were quite interesting. Definitely recommend a visit when in Bratislava. Looks like you are somewhere completely different from the city and it's surroundings.

It is a truly hidden gem not far from Bratislava downtown. The bus 90 runs every hour from the city and it takes you to the museum directly in less than 40 min. The museum hosts a big permanent collection including mostly Slovakian artists. When I visited I got to see three temporal exhibits. The museum also offers a sculpture garden with an amazing Danube view and a cozy coffee shop. This place is a must if you like contemporary art.

👍🏻✅⭐️ The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, one of the most popular museum in Bratislava region. You can come by car, public transports or by boat. There are many different expositions and each part of year with new art. The entrance is 10e and at least allocated 2 hours. If you visit the capital of the Slovak Republic, recommend to come!
PS: ⭐️excellent exposition of Martin Krajc ✅👍🏻

Beautiful gallery Danubiana, located 20 km from Bratislava
You can get there by public transport from the center, the bus runs every hour
The gallery building itself received the Construction Oscar in 2014.
Be sure to go up to the upper floor of the gallery, there are also sculptures and beautiful views of the Danube.

It's definitely a place to visit, only 20km out of the city if you enjoy modern Arts. Its set in a great location by the river. Get bus 90 costs 2.60 euro round trip and 10 euro entrance fee. Perfect few hours spent there.

my opinion is that this gallery is a must-see for anyone interested in art in its various incarnations. helps expand the horizons of your imagination and perception of the world around you. you can look at everyday things through the eyes of artists and ask yourself the question “...why can’t I see this world like that?”

My guide on a free walking tour mentioned this museum, so when I saw it while cycling, I stopped in and was blown away. Danubiana itself is a work of art in a beautiful location on the Danube. The paintings are primarily from Slovakian artists and make for an enjoyable stroll. Outside! Amazing! The sculptures and grounds. I only wish I had time to stay longer and enjoy the cafe. This is a MUST if you are nearby.

What a beautiful museum, both inside and outside. The space was well used and the location was absolutely gorgeous. The toilets were spacious and clean. The children's playground could be better though. There is a cafe at the end but I'd bring a picnic to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Extraordinary modern art museum in the middle of nowhere by the side of the River Danube in Slovakia. An absolute must see....
Bridget Anderson — Google review
Wonderful museum, has a great collection inside. There’s also sculptures outside, as well as panels about local fish, birds and some information on Danube and a map of Danube. Also on the river bank there are chairs where you can sit or lay down, which is really nice next to the water
The museum itself has a store section where you can buy different products and the money from that is used for improving the museum, mostly the riverbank
Also, in about 10 years museum will go from private ownership to being state owned, and the people working there seem pessimistic about that change, so if possible support them in trying to avoid that

One of the most amazing places just outside Bratislava. Gallery with beautiful space, incredible views, with permanent and changing exhibitions. You will also find a cafe with friendly service and a wide range of great cakes. If you come here, don't forget to take a walk on the rooftop. Admission is 10€ and you don't need to buy a ticket in advance, there (unfortunately) don't tend to be many people here. You can pay by card. There is also a souvenir shop at the entrance...

Nedbalka Gallery is a multi-level art space that boasts a circular atrium displaying decades of Slovak paintings and sculpture. The gallery was founded in 1961 and is popular for its architectural value, but it also houses a permanent collection of paintings from Slovakia's 19th to 21st centuries as well as occasional exhibitions of accomplished Slovak artists.
5 floors of Slovak classic and modern art artwroks that are a must see in my opinion. Amazing collection. They did a great work. Very interesting building that is hidden to the eye when you walk the streets of Bratislava.

Wonderful gallery with work of Slovakian artists. The collection spans from mid-century up until the present. The house has a great design as well, and the pieces are presented perfectly. Each painting comes with a QR code linked to a site with a few words about the piece. I liked it better than the Slovakian national gallery.

The collections are stunning and definitely worth seeing. It highlights some of the Slovaks eras artists but it's not exhaustive.
They often have temporary exhibitions, so one can return there once in a while to admire new collections.
They have a kids corner on the ground floor which is a huge plus for families

Don't miss the opportunity to visit Gallery Nedbalka, located in the heart of Bratislava's historic center. The spiral interior of the building captivates your interest the moment you step inside! The gallery spans four floors, where you can admire contemporary and modern Slovakian art, including paintings, sculptures, and installations, all displayed beautifully in this amazing building. On the ground floor, there is usually a rotating exhibition. As an extra tip, with your admission ticket, you are offered a complimentary drink (tea or coffee) at the gallery café!

Without a doubt I would recommend this to each art enthousiast visiting Bratislava.
We went without really knowing what to expect. It was an amazing experience. The pieces felt really well curated and restored or maintained. Information about the works was available in English. Staff where friendly. The ticket included a cup of coffee or tea in the cafe. We had the delightful experience of talking to the lady who worked in the cafe at that moment and was happy to tell us more about the artists we liked.

Interesting museum that displays the works of Slovak artists from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It is divided into 4 floors, with a round plan, that should be visited from the top to the bottom: Turn of the Century, Modern Art, Galanda Group, Personalities and Phenomena. On the ground floor there are temporary exhibitions. The ticket costs 6€ but there is a 20% discount with Bratislava Card.

Beautiful art, beautiful space. So happy I was able to visit such beautiful place.
The captivating Old Town in Bratislava houses the stunning Bratislava Castle, which offers panoramic city views. Adorned with vibrant glazed tiles, the Blue Church is another must-see attraction. Medická záhrada park features numerous sculptures, while designer boutiques are located along Nedbalova street. Main Square is packed with clubs and cocktail bars, and dining options range from traditional Slovak pubs to vegetarian cafes and international cuisine establishments.
The medieval castle of Devín offers stunning panoramic views of the Slovakian countryside, Danube River and across the border to Austria. The grounds surrounding the castle are also well-preserved and provide interesting historical insights into Slovakian Slavic settlement.
Nice views all around the castle. What i find interesting is the original character of the ruins has been kept. The cave has some interesting items on exhibition.
When at the top the view of the river is simply amazing. The climb is also not so difficult but at some points slightly steep. Ticket cost us 6 euro per person which is reasonable. Outside there is ample parking which is free.

Fantastic but relatively hidden gem just 20 min away from Bratislava. It has amazing views of 2 rivers merging on one side and beautiful hills on the other side. One can totally imagine the strategic location and importance of such a castle.
There’s plenty of free parking. You will have to take a short 10-15 min hike to the top for the best views. The tickets are reasonable - 6 euros for adults, 3 euros for kids and seniors. There’s also a family ticket for 12 euros that includes 2 adults and all kids under 14 years. Just about half way to the top, there are some nice interactive demonstrations led by castle staff. There’s small permanent exhibition in the castle. But the view from top is definitely the best highlight.
There are a couple of restaurants right in the parking lot that also serve ice cream.

Just beautiful!!! Serene experience. We were on a short visit to Bratislava and we are glad to have explored this place. Taking the early morning bus to this place, the journey itself began beautifully and the place was just beyond beautiful. Nature at its best. The views of the villages, fields, river (where you can see border with Austria), forests, and the castle. It was amazing. The fresh air, clean water, greens everywhere.. filled my heart and soul with peace. Definitely a must visit place if you are planning to go to Bratislava. The premise has washroom facility, drinking water and lots of benches to rest. It's kids friendly too. Overall a great experience being here.

Sometimes you come across places of outstanding beauty, and this is one such place. Well worth the walk up and €6 to get in and walk around the ruins. I wish I had stayed until sunset as I imagine it would have been spectacular. You can feel the history of the area with each step. It must have been a truly imposing place in its heyday. I would 💯 recommend a visit

Amazing castle, with great views. Toilets are available to use inside. The entrance to the castle is a short walk up hill, there are benches along the route should you need them. We sat on one to have our picnic. The carpark is below the castle and there are restaurants there, ice-cream huts and a small souvenir shop. The entrance fee is not too expensive but not the cheapest castle fee we have paid. You can walk around the castle freely but there is also a guided tour. There are also interesting expositions as you walk around. All in all a good day out!

We got here for opening at 10:00 using the number 29 bus which was quick and easy. I recommend getting there for opening as it was getting quite busy as we were leaving.
The castle itself was impressive and the scenery was stunning, there was also plenty of information on the history of the site (and area), overall this led to a really enjoyable visit. Highly recommend.

We took the boat down and spent two hours at Devin castle, which was great! The place is very beautiful and there is a lot of text around in both Slovak and English. The well is especially cool, and they keep a bucket nearby that you can fill up and dump down. All of the views are amazing, and the site is super interesting. The only downside was that we went on a weekday and there were a ton of school groups running around, but other than that it wasn't very busy.

Beautiful place, we went on a day trip to Bratislava and found this place. We had time to visit it. It pays to get in. Had a nice walk. It’s children friendly. Great views of the Danube and Morava, honestly I wasn’t expecting that. In the distance is the Bratislava skyline. There are a few other historical sites in there, below the castle. Devin is also cute little village, or rather a borough. Would recommend, also you can eat there, and go down to the rivers. 8-10km from Bratislava center, public transport or by 🚲.

Even though not much of the original castle is left, these ruins are absolutely worth a visit. Easily reachable by car or by public transport from Bratislava, this location offers a small museum, beautiful ruins and stunning views. The 'hike' up the mountain is also not as bad as it seems when standing at the parking lot. Another plus, especially in summer, is the drinking fountain installed on the central square of the castle!

This castle has a history dating back to the Roman period. There is currently not much aside from the structure but the view is indeed worth the price of admission. The castle commands a precious view of the river, town, and surrounding areas and it is indeed peaceful to watch.
The Slavin memorial, located in Bratislava, Slovakia, honors the thousands of Soviet Army soldiers who died in WWII while liberating the city. The monument and military cemetery is a popular tourist destination with beautiful views.

Beautiful memorial to those who lost their lives in World War II.
The area is really well kept and peaceful, offering a chance to sit and take in the beautiful views over the city of Bratislava.
We used a scooter to get to the top of the hill to avoid walking up, and I saw the panoramic bus which departs from the main square up there as well.

Beautiful memorial for World War II soldiers. Views over the city is amazing, especially during the night, there two entrances one way through the stairs in the front and one from the left side where you can also park the car. The entrance is free. There is a way to access the top of the monument but is not always accessable.

It's a great monument. We went there by foot since the commute way wasn't that faster than going there by foot. The route till the monument was beautiful, full of fallen leaves and beautiful houses. There were some spots where you can even watch the whole city from above.
Everything was clean and neat, the view from the top was beautiful.

It's a beautiful building both from the outside and the inside. Used to be a granary, built at the time of Maria Theresa. We listened to a Sunday afternoon organ concert. The Blue Church is a beautiful, baby-blue art nouveau church designed in the early 1900s. It's located east of the Old Town, and is perhaps the least well-known landmark on Bratislava's list. Architecturally speaking, it is a gem.
A one of a kind blue church. It has the same colour theme inside. It worth making the walk from old town to view this unique but beautiful church. Give a look to the opening hours before visiting as they are a bit odd.

One of the most unique churches. The blue color is so soothing. Very beautiful architecture and color. But unfortunately we couldn't go inside the church. Do check the timings before visiting. And I just wish people wouldn't park the vehicles exactly in front of the church, that ruins it's beauty.

Approaching the church, I was immediately struck by its exquisite Gothic architecture and ornate detailing. The towering spire and intricate stone carvings adorned the exterior, hinting at the awe-inspiring treasures within. The rich history and cultural significance of this sacred site were palpable from the moment I set foot inside.
Stepping into the church, I was enveloped by a profound sense of calm and serenity. The soft lighting, soaring ceilings, and hushed atmosphere created an ambiance that invited quiet contemplation and introspection.

We honestly didn't go inside as prayer was going on and we didn't wish to disturb. But I loved the exteriors of this church, reminds me of some nicely done icing on a chocolate cake! Doesn't it? We tried a lot of angles but wasn't able to capture its beauty. Would definitely recommend stopping here. It's a photo spot, the one where the real place looks better than what you would be able to capture for your reel!

A beautiful Hungarian seccessionist Catholic church by Odon Lechner from early 20th century, part of the equally nice high school right next to it.

Short review: there’s really nothing much to it.
Longer review: The Blue Church is a very beautiful and interesting church with its iconic blue color and architectural features, it makes an interesting stop by to take some beautiful pictures and admire the art, but that’s it, a quick stop. Given that it is separated a bit from the other attractions and it’s open at specific times only, you wouldn’t be missing out on a lot if you don’t make a stop here.
Sam MacSmith — Google review
This was easy to find and in a walkable distance. This sits perfectly on the main road so no need for any tickets unless you want to go inside. We didn't get into the details. I really wanted to see this place for myself as I couldn't believe the images I saw prior to this. God, this looks like cake decor. So surreal. Many people stopped by to take pictures. Definitely recommend.

One of the beautiful church also definitely unique one. The Disney-Land like appearance made it special. Both interior and exterior are attractive for blue color and small detailing on the walls.

This place had more disturbing tourists than anywhere else, demanding me to move out of the way of their pictures, although I was there before them and also took pictures, idk. Anyway passed by twice, there was always some girl or group taking pictures. Not that holy place anymore I guess. I really liked it. It would be so good if the castle was made in the same manner. The church is a gem, and so is the building right next to it. Not sure how it happened to be so modernistic, but I'm glad it did. Hopefully a lot of other places in Bratislava will get this makeover, as some are in dire need of such. Close by I recommend Medicka zagrada

The Blue Church in Bratislava is a charming sight to behold, with its distinctive blue facade and intricate details. Unfortunately, during our visit, we were disappointed to find that it was closed to visitors. While the exterior certainly catches the eye and is worth admiring from the outside, the inability to explore its interior detracted from the overall experience. Nonetheless, it undeniably adds to the architectural beauty of Bratislava's cityscape.

I was absolutely satisfied, I loved this place and very happy to be here!
Amazing old-time exhibition which has taken me through the last century. Lot of sights, but I missed the detailed brochures in English... would be great idea a guided tour...and take a look closer the locomotives, but it's forbidden. It worth coming here, our family spent an unforgettable one and half hours.

Reasonable way to spend an hour or two. The museum is fairly small but has a good number of exhibits. The only watch is to be aware the staff here are quite rude.
Eurovea is a large, modern shopping mall in Bratislava, Slovakia. It includes a shopping centre and an adjacent riverside promenade, making it the perfect destination for an afternoon of shopping and people-watching. Featuring trendy brands as well as cafes and restaurants on the pleasant promenade overlooking Bratislava Castle, Eurovea is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.
Big modern mall with numerous shops. It also has a small number of nice bronze statues.

This mall became one of my favorite destinations in the world. Like seriously, it was like WOW! This place is large, and then you can walk outside to a beautiful view + cinema and casino on the other side. The parking garage is truly convenient. It’s very generous that the first 3 hours are free before you need to pay. This galleria is truly remarkable.

Eurovea is definitely a one stop shopping centre for everyone, the shopping centre is built up on large area, and it is huge.
Mall has everything inside, Grocery Store, Apparel and Merchandise Outlets, Food Restaurants, Fast Food Corners and many more.
When you move out from Eurovea, you can view beautiful Danube River, and side walk has restaurants you can enjoy a drink or coffee with peace of mind.
There are few cast iron statues, inside the shopping mall and wonderful scenic outside, you can enjoy water fountain which divides Eurovea in two halves.
Certainly, Eurovea is beautiful shopping centre in Bratislava with ample parking.
Giving 4 stars since there is always a scope of improvement with time which will or may appear lately.

Comparatively better than the other which shopping centers (h&m in center) which I visit so far.

The modern side of Bratislava. Nice shopping mall very close to newly build apartments. There are lots of stores for any kind of need, as well as eateries, movie theater and grocery store. It is very luminous thanks to the transparent ceiling.

The Eurovea shopping mall is one of the most impressive malls I’ve seen in Central Europe! It’s beautiful, modern and new, it has gorgeous Christmas decorations at that time of year, and it has amazing stores, restaurants, and more! We of course loved the must-visit stores like Primark and HalfPrice, but there were an excellent selection of other stores as well. I loved this one Alpine-themed clothing store - they had awesome skiing and winter clothing. There are a few good coffee shops like Craft Coffee, and some of the food court stands are really good. Don’t go to Satyam Indian because it’s really bad, but do check out the boba tea place! You have to visit Primark because that’s the best store in this entire mall - you get the most amount of clothing for the best price! But overall, yeah, not far from the Old Town of Bratislava, and entirely worth visiting on your trip to this wonderful city. It’s even worth stopping at for an hour or so if you’re doing a day trip from Vienna!

The Old Town Hall in Bratislava is a historical building that has been used for a variety of purposes over the years, including as a prison, mint, arsenal depository, municipal archive and place of trade and celebrations. The building is the oldest stone structure still standing in the city and is located in the center of Old Town.
So glad we stayed close to Old Town Bratislava, there are so much to do and see.
Friendly services everywhere we went, lively atmosphere. Filled with locals hanging out outside with drinks and laughters.
And yes, it is a touristy area, however it didn’t feel like that.
We enjoyed the walk to old town, beautiful area with characters; so many dining selections and most are really good; many boutique shops and unique items to look at, such a fun place visit.

It is a bit confusing how it says "enter here" and you're being sent back to the ticket office right after, when you try to visit the tower which most people want to do. I find the price too expensive for just that, as I had no time for the museum and whatever more there was, included in the price, so I skipped on the attraction. I'm giving it a positive review because of the small craft market it held inside the town hall's yard.

Old town hall now serves as museum of history of Bratislava and tourist attraction. Town hall activities and duties are moved to buildings on small square behind this building. Regarding museum I think this is one of those worth visit, there are not many of them in Slovakia. Here you can see many artefacts from the old times together with some explanation. For me this is the most beautiful building in Bratislava however that's my subjective view.
After visiting museum you can go to tower where is nice view on surrounding area and you csn see the roofs of historical center from birds perspective. If they didn't change it you csn buy ticket only for tower visit separately but I think it's better together with museum.

The Old Town Hall in Bratislava is a fascinating historical landmark that offers a glimpse into the city's rich cultural heritage. The building's architecture is stunning, with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements all coming together in a harmonious blend. The highlight of the Old Town Hall, however, is the breathtaking view from the top of the tower. Climbing up to the top is a bit of a climb, but the panoramic views of Bratislava from the tower are well worth the effort. The view offers a unique perspective of the city's skyline and the Danube River. Overall, the Old Town Hall is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Bratislava, especially those who want to take in the city's stunning views.

The Old Town Hall is a complex of buildings dating back to the 14th century: the tower was built around 1370 and you can see the different construction styles at different heights from the outside. Inside it houses the Bratislava City Museum, that was inaugurated in 1868 and contains exhibits from the city history. From the top of the tower there's a beautiful 360 degrees view on the city. The ticket, together with that of the Apponyi Palace, costs 8€, but it's free with Bratislava Card.

This tower is a part of the Old Town Hall sitting in the middle of the old Bratislava City. Near by the Main square (In Slovak Hlavné námestie). The Tower is a part of the tour of the old town hall - the historical building. Actually it is a tour of the City Museum and the City museum is sitting there in the historical building of the old town hall. It is interesting Building because from the inside with interieriors and decorations is looks more like a castle. Also the inside large centre square with architecture language look more like a castle and with the Tower made even stronger that impression. Indoor many rooms are in a good condition and remain centuries the same with original fresco painting. To get in on the Tower visitor needs purchase a ticket to the City Museum which is cheap and well worth to see large museum with rich Exhibition with a unique artificacts and refreshing a history about the Bratislava city and that Museum has interesting Exhibitions which takes about an hour half and then the Tower visit it takes about half hour get up and enjoy views from the Tower on the St. Matus Cathedral and the Tower of the Cathedral, a view on the Bratislava Castle and a view on the old city of Bratislava around the Old Town Hall. In respect of the Tower itself offer a nice small tour of three floors with Art Tower pictures and surprisely with furniture on the first floor and with bells on the second floor. To get on the Tower'' outdoor view from the third floor in winter season which has remaining open the entry for the view just the door is closed and that a visitor needs to find the door on the third floor and open the door get outdoor and then can walk in circle outside around the tower on the walk side and enjoy really nice views from the tower. I do consider quiet enjoyable the whole trip which is not demanding on time or walking. It is located in close location to the city centre as well. The best way get here is with a tram number four which is operate through the old city centre and the tram stop is call 'Centrum' and from there only two minutes walking get at the Old Town Hall. You can also take a tram number one which takes you to the tram stop call Námestie Ludovita Štúra. Then you can walk to the St. Matúš Cathedral and take a short walk from there less than fifth minutes get to the Main Square where is sitting the Old town hall with the tower. You should also take notice all photographs are in focus on the Tower and photos showing the place around the tower from the views of the Tower of the Old Town Hall of city of Bratislava which is the capital city of Slovakia.

The unusual Čumil sculpture park is a must-see attraction in Bratislava. It's home to strange statues of all shapes and sizes, some with a point and others well and truly pointless. The most interesting are found in the wooded area outside the park, with great poses to take funny and cute photos.
Unique and special statues are around Bratislava city centre with a story behind them and great poses to take some funny and cute pictures

The ever famous statue of Cumil is well known in slovakia, especially in the old town bratislava area. Several stories were shared on how this came about, either he is relentlessly working hard due to nonstop work and he did this post to depict that even if he is tired, he is still dedicated. Another story goes that he is a slacker, and just rests the whole day. Either way, he is now a symbol of hardwork.
They say that you need to touch his head to receive goodluck. You can see this figure in tourist souvenir shops along with the other statues in the old town area.

This is surely a quirky statue in Bratislava, the Capital of the Slovak Republic. His name is Čumil, the Slovak word actually means “watcher”. It only takes a quick glance at the face of the man at work at the junction of Laurinská and Panská Streets to understand why he goes by the name “the watcher”. The bronze statue, with a grin on his face, peeks his head from underneath a manhole cover in the Old Town and he is popular among tourists and locals alike. You cannot visit Bratislava without saying hi to Čumil! And make sure to take a photo – this is actually one of the most photographed objects in Bratislava.
Čumil is one of many statues in the Old Town of Bratislava. Other statues include Paparazzi, Schöner Náci, and Napoleon’s Soldier. These statues appeared in 1997, a couple of years after Slovak independence. This was at a time when the city was polishing its image after its Communist past. Čumil is the work of Slovak sculptor Viktor Hulík. The artist was born in 1947 in Bratislava.
As for Čumil, there are a couple of theories about his name. Maybe he’s resting after a hard day’s work cleaning the sewers or perhaps he’s a typical communist-era worker who works little and watches a lot or maybe he’s just trying to get a look under the ladies’ skirts.... Anyway, this sympathetic man seems to enjoy his surroundings.
There are careless drivers everywhere and Bratislava is no exception! The poor statue actually lost his head twice. Because of this, he was given his own road sign that reminds passers-by of the man at work.
Legend has it that those who touch the head of the man will get a wish come true – if they manage to keep it a secret forever.
How to find Him?
The best way to find this spot is on foot. Amongst the cafés, restaurants, and shops of the Old Town, you will find the statue. It is situated in the front the corner of Rybárska brána (Fishermen’s gate), at the junction of Panská and Laurinská streets. Just follow the crowds and as I already said, bring your camera! There’s often a street band playing in the corner as well.

Just as Bratislava Castle is a symbol of the city of Bratislava, the bronze statue of Čumil (literally "the Gaper") is a symbol of busy streets in the center of Bratislava. Čumil peeks out of the canal, smiles, and looks dreamy into the distance. The bronze statue of Čumil enjoys great popularity among children and tourists from every corner of the world who are happy to take pictures standing next to him.
Čumil has been decorating the intersection of Laurinská, Panská and Rybia gates since 1997. The statue was made by Viktor Hulík. The statue was not based on any model and no ancient story is associated with it. In fact, it is the embodiment of the heart atmosphere of the historical center of Bratislava.

For free and hard to miss in the heart of the city. One of the many sculptures on the road downtown. Nicely done and during day time there is a queue for taking pictures. If you stay overnight you may consider going in the evening or earlier morning. Consider to see some of the other spots as well and not only the ones marked in the maps. There are plenty around.

Firstly, I didn't know about this statue. I just came across and saw it. I had a feeling that I needed to take a picture here. I was looking into details deeply. Translation of the word Čumil as “The watcher.“ The first rumour says that he is a typical communist-era worker who is not bothered about the work he’s presumed to be doing. According to the next rumour, he’s staring under the women’s skirts. This most photographed statue of old town. It also attracts many tourists at the junction of Laurinská and Panská streets.

In search of a unique identity, many cities in both Eastern and Western Europe have sought ways to make visitors remember the location. This is an example of effective communication. To some extent, the window, which appears (has appeared) in too many forms of souvenirs, on postcards when they still existed, in glass balls, ... It still attracts visitors who take photos in all possible and less possible and tasteful forms. Still nice and interesting. Two different recordings, two different occasions...

Čumil - There are two possible explanations for his name. One explanation refers to the worker resting at his work. Another explanation claims that the worker took advantage of his workplace and looked up the skirts of women walking past. A legend says that if you touch the man's head, a wish will come true. This is also one reason why the head is so polished. It’s definitely worth to see the sculpture. I can highly recommend it!

The statue's name, Čumil, translates to "watcher" or "looker" in Slovak, and it is thought to represent someone who enjoys observing the world around them.
It has become such a beloved figure in Bratislava that the statue's head has been polished shiny from the tradition where people rub its head for good luck.

Not the most exciting thing ever, but still a must see in Bratislava, since it is pretty iconic and neither costs money nor time to visit.
The historical landmark Michael's Gate is a gate dating back to the city's 1300s fortifications, with a weapons museum and views from the top. It is located in Bratislava's Old Town, and can be easily accessed by train or walking. The gate serves as an official entry into the Old Town, and is popular amongst tourists for its panoramic views of the city.
The Michalska Gate (Michalská Brána) is a symbol of Bratislava. It is crowned with a 51-meter, octagonal, Renaissance tower covered with a baroque helmet. At the top of the tower there is a figure of Archangel Michael slaying a dragon.
The roof of the original gothic tower, built in the mid 14th century, was modified between 1753 and 1758 to give it its current. An octagonal tower was added over it. It is currently the only preserved city gate of Bratislava. During the reign of Maria Teresa, a baroque crown was added, and this reconstruction is commemorated by a richly decorated foundation plaque.
On the street that passes through the gate is the so-called “zero kilometre” plate, listing the distances of 29 world capitals from Bratislava.
Inside the gate is the Museum of Fortifications, which presents the history of the city's fortifications and the development of military technology. You can see here melee and firearms, old cannons, tournament weapons. You can also see documents, sketches and illustrations showing the history of the Bratislava city walls.
From the museum you can go to the observation deck on the top floor of the tower. The superb view of the Old Town from the upper terrace of the tower is one of Bratislava’s top visitor experiences.
Since 1st December 2020, Bratislava City Museum is closing the Michael’s Gate – the Museum of Weapons for approximately two years. The reason for the closure is the long-awaited general renovation of an architecturally rare building in the historic city center.

Bratislava is a lovely place on summer and well worth a visit. We arrived by boat which is even better. St Michael's Gate is entirely encased in scaffolding at the moment and is closed to visitors but there's plenty more to see and the short climb up to the castle is well worth the slog for the view alone. Lots of shady cafes for ice cream coffee cake or larger meals.

It is a nice gate , great feeling when you goes through it , you feel the place is a historical place, is the only city gate that has been preserved of the medieval fortifications and ranks among the oldest town buildings. Built about the year 1300, its present shape is the result of baroque reconstructions in 1758, when the statue of St. Michael and the Dragon was placed on its top. You might need tickets if you want to go to the top.

Approaching the gate, I was immediately struck by its impressive medieval architecture. The grand tower, adorned with stone embellishments and a distinctive copper roof, exuded a sense of strength and grandeur. The preserved fortifications and decorative details evoked a feeling of stepping back in time to a bygone era.
Passing under the archway, I entered the bustling streets of Bratislava's Old Town. The gate served as a gateway to the city's vibrant past and a connection to its present. The cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and charming cafes that lined the area created a delightful atmosphere, perfectly complemented by the gate's historical significance.
Climbing the spiral staircase within the gate, I was rewarded with breathtaking views of the city's rooftops and landmarks. The panoramic vistas showcased the blend of old and new, with medieval structures seamlessly integrated with modern architecture. It was a moment of tranquility and reflection, providing a unique perspective on Bratislava's evolving landscape.

We visited this attraction during Christmas. Pick up tickets in the small pharmacy to the side of the building. We bought the Bratislava card €24, it includes free entrance to almost all main attractions in Bratislava. The stairs up to the top are a bit narrow but manageable. There are 3 flights of stairs to go up, so be prepared for this. The information posted on each floor gives you a good history lesson of the gate and the renovations it went through. The main feature of the gate is the walkway around the mineret, great views in 360. I recommend this place to everyone visiting Bratislava.

Such a beautiful picture spot in the center of Old Town! We’ve been to a decent number of cities in Europe and the Bratislava Old Town is right up there being one of the very best, most charming, and most medieval-“feeling”. Michael’s Gate is the center point of Ventúrska Michalská, one of the big streets in Old Town. It has a striking teal-colored top that you can actually go up to if you pay for a ticket - you can get a great view of the Old Town area much closer than from the Bratislava Castle. Great history to learn, and a beautiful place!

The inner part is not all that interesting and be careful that everyday from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. you cannot acces it due to missal services. It is free of charge anyway

Amazing church in center of Bratislava. Visit doesn't allowed during misa. It is amazing place. Recommend to visit.

The tower with a height of 85 meters accumulates out of the central nave on the western side. Originally, along with the beginning of the west of the church, it was located behind the town walls. The tower was part of the town’s strongholds, and therefore, from the west, it did not have an entrance portal that conceivable attackers or even windows could use. To enhance communication at the west facade, a few side turrets with staircases were stationed.

Very nice cathedral. The staff helpful and friendly and helped me get a stamp. Beautiful during the day and during the night.

While wandering around Bratislava, my wife and I also saw the cathedral, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful. A statue of the great musician Franz Liszt "leans" on it and is almost overlooked.

St Martin Cathedral is the biggest and one of the oldest churches in Bratislava. As it can still be seen, it was part of the western fortifications walls of the old city. From 1563 to 1830 it served as the coronation church for the Kingdom of Hungary. Nearby there was a synagogue that was demolished in 1970 to make room for the Novy Most bridge.

Quite plain, actually, but an active church. Could not enter because of service hours. I liked that it's visible from the castle gardens and was a good part of the old town fortress like surroundings. Otherwise nothing special, in or outside.

The largest church in Bratislava, built in the 13th century, kings coronations took place there, which is proven by the large 300 kg crown on the top of the church.

A Christmas tram decorated with numerous garlands of lights is again to ride the roads of the Slovak metropolis Old Town. To please its visitors and in order to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere even more, anyone can take a free ride.
A special Christmas tram completes the atmosphere of the most beautiful period of the year. The interior in red and green with a fireplace and Christmas carols reminds you of your cozy home.
December in Slovakia's capital also means a chance to spot a special Christmas tram in Bratislava offering free rides for all its passengers.

It is the biggest church in bratislava, we have paid 5 euro per person to see the catacombs under the church, and with that ticket you can see the museum which holds many nice things, and the view from the balcony.
The UFO Tower offers an observation deck and restaurant with panoramic views of the countryside. The tower is a landmark in Bratislava and is listed in the World Federation of Great Towers.
One of the top attraction to visit if you are here in Bratislava. Entrance price is 9.5€ you can access the observation deck which is 95m hight on top or enjoy a fresh drink or food in their coffee restaurent ! 360 panoramic view across the whole city. Parking down on the road is possible around 200m before you reach UFO.

Nice and cool restaurant and Attraction. But pay the Ticket for Day and Night it's Cheaper . 12.90€ and one Entrance cost 9.90€ it's cool when you see the Sunscreen and on the weekend the night is soo cool . The bar is on the left and the right side the restaurant only in the middle and you have reserved for a table . The food is every time in the Year the same ( change only one time in the Year the Menu ) but it's cool location. When you visit Bratislava go there 😉🥂

The first impression upon approaching the tower was its striking design and futuristic architecture. Perched atop the SNP Bridge, the tower's sleek and metallic structure stood out against the backdrop of Bratislava's skyline. Its unusual shape resembled a UFO, and it exuded an air of modernity and intrigue.
Taking the elevator up to the observation deck, I was greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of Bratislava and the surrounding areas. The vantage point offered by the tower was unparalleled, allowing me to marvel at the city's landmarks, the meandering Danube River, and the vast landscapes beyond. It was a photographer's dream, providing countless opportunities to capture stunning vistas.
The UFO Tower also houses a trendy restaurant and bar, which further enhanced the overall experience. The modern decor, stylish furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows added to the ambiance, creating a vibrant and chic atmosphere. Enjoying a meal or a drink while surrounded by the mesmerizing views was a true highlight.
While the observation deck and restaurant were impressive, some visitors might find the entry fee slightly steep. However, considering the unique experience and the opportunity to witness the city from such a height, it is still worth the investment.
The staff at the UFO Tower were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant visit. They were knowledgeable about the tower's history and provided helpful information and recommendations for exploring Bratislava further.

It is the thing to not miss out when visiting Bratislava. If you walked all over the city you just must visit the UFO tower to see the city from above.
The restaurant is also well suited and comes in handy.
Really recommended place for anyone.

Cheap and easy access. Friendly staff. No queues for the lift either. Had the lift going up to ourselves, perhaps good timing though, as there was when we came down. Great views of the city, can see all the major landmarks

What an incredible experience.
Beautiful views of this beautiful city, from such an impressive construction. You can see this amazing bridge and observation deck from all over the city and to visit it, didn't disappoint. Great views from the observation deck and the bar below. A must visit, when visiting Bratislava.

It was a great experience visiting UFO tower. However the waiter (not mentioning his name) in the evening of 24th March 2024 (today) was rude and his behaviour made us turn off having a meal at the restaurant. Such a behavior will bring reputation down refraining tourist to visit Bratislava. The UFO tower authorities should be more careful while appointing staff. There was no waiting time. Catch an elevator and finally some stairs to go to the roof top. Ticket price is fine and there's 20% discount with Bratislava Card (we had 72 hours Bratislava Card with free transport). They do not accept card and the amount is to be paid in cash only. It was very windy on the top with very little space to accommodate people. Fortunately there were not many people at the roof top when we visited. Great view of the castle, bridge and the Danube river. On one side you can see Vienna with windmills and on the opposite side Budapest. Complete arial view of the city was breathtaking. I do recommend visiting the tower but refrain from enjoying meals and drinks at the Cafe and restaurant as the waiters are rude and show no respect.

Nice Attraction added to the city for tourists, but in a city which is having already high city views through war memorial or the castle. Someone would come to this place only for a unique experience but not only for view. But price is reasonable. I actually expected a lot more than just a simple view for which as well the approach is not so good. Bar is nicely placed and well serviced.

Prepare to have your mind blown! The view from up here is absolutely stunning. Trust me when I say that shelling out 9 euros per person is totally worth it, just to catch a glimpse of the Danube from this elevated vantage point. It's like getting a sneak peek of the grandeur of the river from high above, all while keeping your wallet just a tad lighter. Talk about an investment that pays off in awe and laughter!

A symbol of Bratislava and a must visit when there. U can get a nice view of it by going up the Bratislava castle. There is a restaurant on the rooftop, but it's a bit pricy. Otherwise u can go up and enjoy the view for 10 euros. Haha.

If you want to see all of Bratislava from one spot, this is the place to be. You can get a complete view of the city from here. The cool thing is, the building kind of looks like a UFO, so that's why it's called that. It's a unique name that fits its shape. So, if you're interested in seeing the whole city and checking out a building that looks like a UFO, this spot is perfect. Prices are different in different seasons and different days/times, check that

Very nice place with amazing views to the city of Bratislava. 3 stars because the ticket cost 10 euros per person but probably if they understand that you are a tourist, they charge 12 euros. There is restaurant and cafe under the observation deck. Personel kind of rude. Toilet views are amazing also. You lose nothing if you skip this place cause the views from the castle of Bratislava are also amazing and free of charge!

Nice experience to enjoy the above view on the Bratislava city from all directions ,
There is a lift from base of the tower directly to the top then few stairs to reach the roof , the area there is not that wide so sometimes gets crowded .
The entry is with ticket costs around 10 euro , special price for students .
There is restaurant and caffe bar up there with panoramic view .
On the roof is the best view on the city with landmarks already painted on the wall as a guide .
Lovely time to be there before sunset in one hour and after , so can enjoy the view of( day time , sunset , night time ) .
Recommended .

Beautiful view, the panorama is amazing.
Easy to get here, booking is not necessary.

The bar is quite expensive and the service was really slow. ~25min for a latte and lemonade. But still worth to visit.

We had an wonderful evening up the observation deck. We were a little late reaching there yet it was a great experience viewing the city of Bratislava glaring in night light and night hustle. The bridge is situated on the Danube river and it provides an exquisite view of the city. We reached there at almost 9.00 pm and the night was young. The city looked beautiful. They also have a bar where people cam enjoy a drink and the city view. The observation deck is a must visit while in Bratislava.

Definitely location that you should visit. Only bad thing is that they sometimes "rent " place for parties but will not show that on their web page so you can't buy a ticket for 2 visit in 48 hours. UFO own me one visit for free.

Visited at night in the winter. Beautiful views of the city from the observation deck.
It’s a great looking structure, we also walked across from the old city so you get a great view of the bridge and the Danube before heading up the tower to the deck and restaurant.
Would be good if there was a little more info about the build but otherwise was a great little visit. Paid extra to come back and do a daytime visit to compare views.

You have to pay 11 euro to be able to visit the observation deck, the views were amazing. It was very windy so bring proper clothing. It is a good photospot. We went to the restaurant and we ordered drinks, strawberry and coconut drink for 7 euro. We enjoyed the atmosphere very fancy and the bathroom views is amazing. If you want to eat it is very expensive bit the drinks and dessert price are good.

The Museum of Pharmacies in Bratislava is a small museum that features exhibits on the history of pharmacies in Slovakia. The museum is located inside an old pharmacy, which makes it interesting to see the inside of an old pharmacy from the inside. There are many instruments and old books, which is really interesting.
If you are into medicine in any way, pay a visit to this place. It has origins in the 16th century and you can see the history inside. They give you details of the different types of vessels used for the various ingredients for the medicines. In the back you can see where they were cooked. The front of house is the real gem with a stunning painted ceiling, bottles, jars and draws for medicine. Even the brass on the door handle is worn for all the use over the years. The signage outside is original. A ticket for here also gives entry to the tower around the corner. Loved this place even if it is a little small

Nice place! I got a ticket to the gate tower museum of arms and that got me in here too. The ladies working here are very nice, they don't speak much English but show even the remotest interest in what you are seeing and they will happily explain. I learned about Juniper seeds and "dragon's blood" 😂 Why not stop by - nice experience.

Wonderful building very nicely restored. I loved the doors. It was like I was transfered in an other century! Very interesting collection although there were some unknown staff from unknown locations. And in matters of structure, the opinion of a museumologist would be helpful. Friendly staff but no English.

Interesting, but aim to spend around 10 minutes here...if that. I'm notorious for taking a long time in a museum, but even reading and looking at everything it was a quick stop. The Bratislava card makes it free, and as such with a visit. It breaks a walk around the city up nicely.
Paul Crabtree — Google review
A very boring and small museum. The thing that I absolutely hated about the museum was the staff, just seeing those poor, lifeless, and soulless faces of those bitter old ladies that worked there made me want to leave. They even got angry when I asked if I can use the restroom after purchasing a ticket. Such coldness is hard to spot in life, thankfully I am not living their lives.
Thomas Martin — Google review
The staff were very frosty at first, but once I started asking questions and showing my interest it was as if I was their best buddy. It is very small, especially for the price, but the apparatus are genuine and there is something very pleasing about all the different shaped glass jars and labels. It feels just a tiny bit magic.
The Schöne Náci statue is a renowned historical landmark in Bratislava Old Town. It pays homage to a beloved local eccentric who brought happiness to people by wearing a tailcoat and top hat while greeting women with "kiss your hand" in multiple languages. The life-size sculpture portrays him with his signature attire, tipping his hat to passersby. Visitors often queue for selfies with the popular statue, which serves as a wonderful tribute to this unique individual.
A cute statue on a corner in the town square.
I don't know the history of this local character, but the whimsical pose and expression bring a simple joy to everyone who sees it.

Schone Naci, or Ignaz the Handsome, represents life in the city at the turn of the century. The real Schone Naci was born in 1897. He was the son of a shoemaker. His eccentric spirit made him remembered. History says that they would walk around the old town of Bratislava, near Michael's Gate and the Danube River. His attire included a top hat and tails. When he ran into women, he would say "I kiss your hand" in languages such as Slovak, German and Hungarian. The bronze statue greets people just as the real Schone Naci once did. Even though he was a man without financial resources of his own, it is said that he walked the streets of Bratislava dressed as if he were very rich. Tourists in the city can spend an entire day walking and exploring the streets of this beautiful city, looking for the many wonderful bronze pieces that have been strategically placed for the public to enjoy.

The ever famous statue of Schöner Náci is well known in slovakia. He is believed to be wearing silver coat and a tophat (and other colors too) depicting his hospitality to passersby. According to the legend, he was in love with a woman who sadly did not love him back. This disappointed him so much that he went mad and people could often see him giving flowers to random women he met in the streets. He always wore a hat– which you can also see on the statue.
Nevertheless, he seems very happy and joyful...
