The Royal Air Force Museum Midlands showcases aviation history with a collection of decommissioned planes housed in wartime hangers and various technological exhibits. The museum, located 13 miles east of Ironbridge, features 70 aircraft including the renowned Vulcan bomber that was used for Britain's nuclear deterrent. Visitors can also witness the FA330 Bachstelze glider which was towed behind German U-boats as an early warning system. A Black Hawk simulator is also available for visitors to try out.
Visited in August 2019, on the way to North Wales. I wanted to have a longer break, so popped in to this museum. It is a huge site and very interesting. I mean for those who like planes, history and a lot of activity with interactive games. There is a lot to see and learn, and definitely can spend there a half day or so. Kids and Dads particularly enjoyed themselves, but I've seen Mums, couples, singles, too as well as veterans.
It has huge parking, but pay and display, so better to bear it in mind. Shops, cafe, restaurant, toilets in every building, 4D experience, which I tried myself, too, flight simulator, VR experience, and also some planes are available to sit in and touch, take pictures; so it is really fun to spend some time there, as well as useful for those are interested to learn new things about history.
Definitely a place which is a perfect day out, and worth to visit.

It's amazing that it is free to enter. Brilliant place of you're into planes and the history of wars etc. There is so much to see. I liked how it was a one way system so you can't get lost and don't miss anything.
Lots of knowledgeable people around with amazing stories about the planes and tanks.
Will be going back again when the kids go back to school. Speaking of kids, There is a nice play park there for them to play on while your having a cuppa from the cafe.

Free entry, however you pay £6.50 for parking online or you pay slightly extra on the day. Amazing museum. My daughter wasn't into it, however she is very young and loved the park area. We still made her walk through all the hangers. Plenty of parking available

The best museum within 100 miles of our home by a long way and all for the price of a £6.50 car parking fee (if booked online).
Otherwise, free to enter. They do accept but don't demand donations.
You get three "warehouses" absolutely chocker with military hardware, 90% flying machines, but the cold war hangar also has missiles/tanks etc. It is an amazing jigsaw of a place and that is without the Visitor Centre that contains all types of information about the museum itself.
Could take all day and still not see everything. We will definitely be returning to check out the areas we missed as we were on a bit of a timetable this time around.
Fabulous place. 100% recommended.

We did horrible histories up in the air adventure. with the grandchildren. Very good wholesome family fun, although our 12 Yr old found it a bit young for her. However! She loved the rest of the museum. Fantastic planes, tanks, helicopters, missiles etc. Very helpful knowledgeable staff too. Plenty of toilets around the site, all nice n clean. A very Happy family ! Highly recommend, just be aware parking is £7.50. Bit steep for a square of tarmac

Absolutely incredible place.
Massive amounts of paid parking (it is cheap for the day). Easy to navigate, and the exhibitions are all close together. Facilities are clean and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Food and drink are great quality and freshly made. Sausage rolls are top tier, and sauces are all Henzi.
This museum is packed full of engineering wonders in avionics, but also a constant thread of the human stories behind it all. Everything is done respectfully, too.
I would highly recommend spending the full day out as there is a lot on offer.

Very interesting and amazing to see all of the planes, tanks, bombs etc. Really informative. Also a lovely park for the kids. Free entry, £5 parking. Additional paid activities that you don't have to join in with and they don't push the activities. They are there if you want to though, £5 each for a passport to do the activities

What a fantastic place! The museum really is a great day out with superb displays and interactive activities. Disabled parking is around 40 metres from the Visitor Centre but being spread over a large area there is a lot of walking. In regards to accessibility by wheelchair or mobility scooter the museum is very well setup. Apart from the obvious difficulties of getting into aircraft if wheelchair bound you are still able to get up close and personal with the displays. The info boards are great and interactive and at an accessible height. The lift up to the viewing area is not for the faint hearted but totally accessible for all and well worth the wait for the lift if it's busy. The staff were very helpful and offered assistance if required. Disabled toilet facilities are spread around the site and were clean and setup well for wheelchair users.
All for the cost of parking at the museum, superb.

Absolutely amazing place to visit and it's free , donations are welcome. Had a wonderful day first time visiting will definitely go again. And 100% recommend to all ages. Such a lot to see me and my daughter had a great time. Such amazing aeroplanes, tanks etc.... The history and information was very interesting. Can't wait to go back.

Absolutely brilliant day out for all the family. The 4D experience of the Red Arrows and the Ravine Racer was fab. The almost 5 Year old with us loved it, as did we all actually. Loads to look at and most of it is free. Just pay for the rides/simulators.
I'm sure we'll come back at some point too. Thanks to all the lovely staff that made our visit so enjoyable today.
It also has a great RAF themed playground for the little ones too.

Excellent place to visit, really interesting with very knowledgeable staff.
The exhibitions were excellent and so interesting.
Lots of places to sit if walking is a problem, everything is very accessible.
Cafe was good, food was lovely, we had the pizzas and about the normal price range you would expect at a museum.
Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed my visit here. Wasn’t sure what to expect other than the obvious planes. However the social history at each section was an added bonus. Very cleverly laid out within glass viewing panels. Explanations about many of the world’s conflicts (which as a child and teenager I didn’t fully grasp). The only area for improvement would be the food options at the cafe, I think that could be far better. The staff are lovely and friendly and made the visit pleasant.

Amazing place for free you just pay your parking £7.50. There is a lot to see. Planes, tanks. Missiles. You Don't get the Scale of them until your up close. Great for all the family.

Absolutely amazed at how much I enjoyed this museum, the collection is fantastic and presented really well. We also booked the Typhoon Simulator, Spitfire VR experience (which is awesome!) and the Red Arrows 4D theatre which weren't expensive at all. The museum itself is free which in today's climate is surprising but fantastic as there are plenty for kids to see and do! Well worth a visit and the museum is a credit to the staff and volunteers!
Andrew Woodcock — Google review
Great museum packed with aviation icons and some rare finds you wouldn't expect! Specially regards WWII German planes.if you're interested in the topic, this place is well worth the visit. My favourite part was the German aviation displayed across multiple hangars and the Cold War display.
It's free entry but it will be better to book your tickets in advance as it tends to get a bit crowded through the day.
You'll have to pay £7.50 for parking on arrival though.

Lovely place to visit with plenty to do. Amazing planes and all kept very well with lots of information. Would highly recommend for individuals and families, has a place to eat and an outdoor play area. Parking is good and the site is easy access
Ryan Davies — Google review
Our expectations were quite low but there was loads to see and the play park was the best one I've seen for a 2 year old with really cool themed climbing frames.
We had about 90 minutes there which was a good amount of time for a toddler's attention span, we thought we could easily spend most of a day there if we actually read all the information boards and so on.
It was free apart from parking but the place runs off donations so these are encouraged.

Royal Air Force Museum Midland, which is the best tourists attraction destination at 2022.
Entry free for all.
It is opening at 10 am and closing on 5 pm.
You can see different kind of aircraft collection ( including Nasi flights was captured by RAF), royal air force history and some of world wars memories .
You can try simulators and virtual experiences for reasonable price.
Also it has cafe and kids play area.
Best place to bring school kids.
Parking available for £ 7.50.
Recommended place 👍.

We stopped here en-route to Wales, due to time we never managed to tour the museum. Ended up just spending time in the lovely park, grabbing some food and using the loo.
Whole place looked very impressive, loads of space in the car park (think it only had option for £7.50, no hourly rates). The fact that it is free is incredible and we will be visiting properly next time.
Staff there were great too!
Abdin Ahmed — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Entry is free so no need to buy tickets but may be worth booking if going ad a large group or school. The hangers are amazing with so much to see. There is lots of interactive exhibits and even a couple of flight simulators. The history and information of the engineering behind these plans is wonderful and the staff are so helpful and engaging. They offer chances for you to sit in a cockpit and dress as a pilot too. The gift shop is lovely and very reasonably priced and the cafe offers delicious coffee and sandwiches but is slightly on the pricey side.

Absolutely loved this ace and will definitely be returning, we have probably missed loads.
It is like a giant jigsaw puzzle with so much military hardware it is difficult to describe it fairly.
AND IT IS FREE
The only cost is car parking so four of us were admitted for just £6.50 in total (if you book online).
Recommend 100%
Best museum outside the big cities for sure.

Such a interesting day great for all families or couples theirs something for everyone. From the very start off our trip we took my 86 year old dad,I think he could remember all the planes even the tiger moths going back yo the second world .the car park is cheaper if you book on line👍you just validate your ticket inside the entrance that's it the museum is actually free to get in their are three large halls to go round it will take you quite a bit of time there are some planes out side and you can walk through them but not the day we went.the cafe was surprisingly good fresh tasty sandwiches. We had a very surprisingly and interesting day the ground crew are helpful 👏👏👏

Very nice place to visit and good thing it's that Entry is free only you have to pay for Parking Ticket if you book online the Parking Ticket is £6.50 otherwise is £7.50.
Better to book online and select the entry slot make sure when you buy online on your arrival scan you bar code at the visitor table so your parking ticket got valid.
Good place for kids a lot of history information also a lot of information about planes.
The Virtual Parachute, 4D Cinema and other stuff you have to pay separately.

It was a fantastic day out. Booking online was easy, and purchasing parking online too was also very easy.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by very nice, polite, and welcoming staff members who assisted with site and parking redemption.
Once within the complex and viewing the exhibitions, the experience continued.
Free flowing viewing of all memorabilia was achieved throughout (and it was a Saturday).
The staff throughout the site were wonderful and very friendly and attentive.
All in all, a great day out and certainly one I would recommend if families are on a budget. Finally, a day out that does not cost the Earth!
Well done RAF Cosford Team.

If 10 stars would be possible, they will get it. Amazing experience, we enjoy a family day out on a cold December day. A lot of technology to send us back in time to be connected with the history. Kids enjoyed walking around and enjoyed getting in the plane simulator. There are lots of options to enjoy a snack , a coffee or why not your own food. The souvenir store is really nice too.
The parking is big, and also having an outside playground for kids, of course useful for hot days :). It is an outside exhibition, but today was cold to walk around.
A big thank you ❤️

Great museum. Excellent displays, helpful & knowledgeable staff. Only downside was the Typhoon simulator had broken down. But the 4G cinematic Red Arrows experience was a great substitute. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant day, loved it, my wife and daughter also enjoyed it. To be able to stand in a hanger with the three historic V Bombers was amazing.
The restaurant food was a bit on the pricey side but the burger was great, take a picnic maybe if you want to save a bit of money.

Really good day out. They have amazing exhibits of air travel history. All indoors and beautifully displayed with loads of information about each exhibit. They have a well equipped cafeteria where you can purchase coffee and snacks at a reasonable price. It is free to visit, but you will need to book a slot, you can stay as long as you want but like I've said you do need to book a time slot for when you'd like to visit. There is loads of parking for £7 if you book in advance, a little bit more if you pay on arrival. Note that there is nowhere to park locally. Unless you fancy a very very long walk. You absolutely will need to park at the museum.

Just go! If you've ever visited RAF Yeovilton which I love, please try and pay this place a visit - it's at another level.
So many planes to see - with extremely knowledgeable staff on hand to answer an queries.

The exhibits are great with a range from WW1, Interwar, WW2, Cold War, and Modern. These include aircraft and a small selection of armoured and unarmoured ground vehicles.

Great day out here with my boyfriend. We both enjoyed it so much. We caught the train there and walked it from the train station. I’ve been here so many times and I’m always amazed each time. I can’t wait to go back. There’s so much history and so many artefacts. We also tried and enjoyed the 4D cinema experience.

You need to book an arrival time, but the museum is entirely free. Loads to see, and the hangars are well organised into historical periods (WW1, WW2, Cold War, etc). There is something for people of all ages. We took our five-year-old grandson who had a great time comparing features and sizes! We spent over four hours here, and could have spent a lot longer. Considering it was the Easter holidays, it was not crowded - there's so much space. There is also an adventure playground - all aviation themed. Highly recommend for a cheap day out!

Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre formerly Battlefield Falconry Centre
The Battlefield Falconry Centre is a place where people can watch and handle some of the most beautiful birds in the world. It has a wide variety of owls, hawks, and falcons, all of which are kept in large aviaries. It offers a wide range of experiences with these creatures, the most popular being Hawks on Walks.
Great experience to see some amazing birds of pray up close and learn some interesting facts about them.

We’ve just come away from a lovely visit, and have spent 1-1.5 hours here. We read the reviews and knew to expect a fairly small set up. We have thoroughly enjoyed a more personalised experience with two members of staff, who are clearly very passionate about the welfare of the birds, knowledgeable and keen on providing a customer experience. It sounds as though there are plans to enhance the setup and we look forward to seeing the developments.

We originally went to attend the battle of Shrewsbury reenactment, and noticed the bird of prey center. What a fantastic place!
The staff were all amazing, very helpful, and very informative.
Entrance is free, with the option to make a donation ( which we did). When looking at the birds I noticed a sign saying you could handle a bird for £2, so we did.
What a fantastic experience!
And for only £2 !
We loved our time there, and would definitely recommend.
Thank you to the staff, you were all fab!

I booked my wife and I onto the owl handling experience for 2. Firstly, walking around the centre, you can tell they take great pride and passion in their birds. The cages and birds are very well looked after and in great condition.
There's loads of information about the birds, and the staff are very willing to answer any questions.
The owl handling was great, and again its very clear the staff have a lot of passion for the birds and know a great deal but are very honest if you ask a question they can't answer. We handled 4 owls in total of different sizes and flew 3 of them.
It was such a great experience and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone.

Fanastic place. A very kind man working there showed us around and shared his extensive knowledge of all the birds. Very reasonably priced 5.50 per adult. Great selection of birds. My favourite was the teeny tiny scops owls, very cuteee

We booked a personal experience with Lisa at the last minute. She readily accommodated and found time for us the next day. Her enthusiasm for the birds was infectious and she readily shared knowledge and stories about her work. We had exposure to 4 different birds and we each took turns having them fly to us. It was a great experience I can’t recommend enough. Book ahead.

such a variety of birds, all very well looked after.
The staff were fantastic and for a donation you can even hold some of the birds.
Its a small business but the owner is a fantastic woman and my wife and i wish her all the best.
This is 100% recommended.
Tickets for adults is £5.50 each, apparently some people think this is excessive but we thought it was well worth the price.
I cannot say enough about how good this is.

This place was amazing! We were the only ones there so Paul gave us a personal tour full with lots of fun facts and personal information about each bird they cared for. You could tell he had passion for his job. He was very lovely and friendly and happy to answer all our questions and have a laugh. Made our experience one to remember. Thank you Paul. This place was only small so not a full day thing, but also has a cafe, farm shop and butchers on site which was packed. (So must be good!) We could not get a parking space but parked down the road and walked. The car pack gets filled with all the customers from the farm shop. All in all good experience. ☺💕

The Quarry is a 29-acre park overlooking the River Severn that was landscaped in 1719. It features a lush sunken garden in the center, as well as a play area and bandstand. If the sun is shining, it's a great spot to take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of town.
The quarry is a great place to walk, run, cycle and unwind! I've been cycling through the quarry upto the weir which is a lovely ride - the quarry attracts all sorts of people; from families to dog walkers to people painting the picturesque river Severn. The dingle within the quarry is lovely to walk around and the area in general is well kept.

I recently visited Quarry Park in Shrewsbury and I must say, it was a breathtaking experience. The park is situated alongside a beautiful river and the surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning. The tranquility and peacefulness of the park made me feel like I was miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
One of the highlights of the park for me was the abundance of beautiful flowers that were in bloom. The vibrant colors and fragrances of the flowers were truly amazing and added to the overall beauty of the park.
The park is also well-maintained and there are plenty of benches and seating areas where you can relax and take in the stunning views. It's a perfect spot for a picnic or just a leisurely walk.
The river running through the park adds a special touch to the already amazing landscape. It's a great spot to sit and watch the water flow by

I did go to reception and ask for someone to assist her till she felt a little more confident. An additional staff member would be helpful!!!

Once with the little on so we did some climbing together.
Second time he was at a party in the designated kids soft area. An amazing space for growing their confidence of climbing and heights in a very safe and secure environment. All the kids loved the party so sure we will be back for many more visits in the future.

Friendly staff, nice space and the coffee is good. However, I find the setting in the bouldering area could be improved, especially in terms of safety/awareness of fall potential as there always seem to be quite a few boulders where a fall would be dangerous with high injury risk. The setting also tends to be a bit awkward in terms of movements. Be nice to see more climbs above V7 too
Shrewsbury Prison is an 18th-century jail that was closed down in 2013. Visitors have the opportunity to tour the empty cells and yard, which are full of history and rumored ghosts. The attraction also offers guided tours by former prison wardens who provide interesting facts and make the experience come alive. Additionally, there is a charming little cafe on site with friendly staff where visitors can take photos with their phone against a mock prisoner height chart on the wall for some added fun.
Our visit lasted well over two hours and we found it a sobering but very interesting experience. The staff were friendly and the tour allowed access to most of the jail.
Notice boards explained each area but the experience would have been improved with a knowledgeable guide.
I wouldn't recommend taking young children as there is little to entertain them and wheelchair users would struggle with access.
Refreshments were reasonably priced and there was good access to toilet facilities.
Being a relatively young museum there are improvements to be made
but it is still worth a visit.

Had an extremely interesting, informative and amusing tour today, with the ex prison warden Graham.
The whole experience was worth the £22 entrance fee several times over. After the tour, you are free to walk around the prison at your leisure.
Sadly though, the 'Sparks' band T-Shirt I was wearing just wasn't appreciated...some people just don't appreciate great (Category A) music....eh, Graham 😉😀. Thanks again for a splendid tour.

If you like dark, gritty places with history and edge behind them, there is nowhere better than the Victorian Shrewsbury prison.
Having only ceased being a vessel of incarceration as recently as 2013(so recently that Google took two visits to capture Street View photos when it was still a working prison) there is a lot of interesting facts and information to uncover.
Guided tours are available, but you can also freely explore as well. There is also the opportunity to partake in an escape room, a challenging but very exciting experience.
Our escape room guides were very entertaining and helpful, and thanks to them we narrowily won the game, earning a well deserved free drinks voucher for use in the restaurant.
Speaking of the restaurant, the food is exceptionally good and the staff are very friendly and approachable. I got a free hot chocolate which was absolutely delicious and to die for- it was probably the best one I have ever had!

Our guide provided a thorough insight into all aspects of prison life, contrasting different periods of history.
In all areas including at the end there was interaction between both the guide and the visitors in regards to questions and answers and he illustrated his responses with anecdotes. The tour also included photo opportunities at various points and finished in the Execution Room where you are given the option not to enter if you so wish.

Loved our visit here today. We took the guided tour with Dan and he was awesome. Very informative and made it really interesting.
If you're considering going, take the tour. Without it, it'll more of a visual and less informative.

Harrowing, cold and harsh prison.
Extremely cold, no heating apart from cafe.
How they stayed warm in winter is beyond me, as it was warmer outside and when we visited and it was SNOWING outside.
Be sure to wrap up warm.
We did the self tour and took about 2 hours.
Cafe and toilet facilities.
Car park 🅿️ opposite prison, also larger car park nearby.
Lots of signs to explain the cells etc.
There was even a haunted cell.
Also brutal, harrowing hanging room.
Definitely worth a visit. (Just wrap up warm)
The excellent 3 part documentary (TIME) was filmed here (also episode of the apprentice and more)
Hopefully the photos do it justice…

We booked this guided tour through trip advisor as it was one of the highest rated activities close to where we were staying (Ellesmere). It was easy to get to and park at (there is a public pay and display car park right by the entrance £5.50 for 24 hours). Our tour guide Graham was brilliant. His experience and insight of having worked in prisons and Shrewsbury prison itself for many years really brought the buildings to life. He gave plenty of time for questions and to explore the different sections. We found many of his insights very surprising (eg the changes over time in terms of sanitation). We really enjoyed our visit and think it was great value for money for a 2-3 hour activity.

Great staff here. Lady that greeted us gave us the run down even though we didn't buy tickets ahead of time. Self tour was great but we do recommend the guided tour as you'll get much more history behind the prison. The guided tour takes about 2 hours which is why we sadly couldn't do it. So auch history here. Be sure to give yourself enough time.
Beautiful, huge and intricately detailed, St. Mary's Church is a popular religious destination in Shrewsbury. The building dates back to the Medieval period and features impressive Norman and Gothic architecture. With a well-preserved interior, it's an excellent place to explore religious history.
Amazing venue for an intimate music gig. Sound was superb. Building is beautiful, with so much character it's bursting at the seams. Although I would bring a cushion for 3 hours on those pews next time. 😊

A beautiful medieval Gothic church with Norman features. Very nice architecture with wood carvings of angels, animals and a green man, plus amazing glass stained windows.
The staff were warm and welcoming and the place was well maintained.
A peaceful place and well worth a visit

Wonderful historic building. The stained glass, very old, windows are numerous and truly wonderful. A free tour is available if you want one. Wonderful warm and friendly cafe offering fare, homemade cakes etc. They have a 'Hug in a Mug policy'. Very endearing, beautiful place.

Excellent church, which sadly no longer has services on there, but is used for various events, such as the Shrewsbury beer festival. The stain glass window at the back looks very impressive. It's a 10 minute (approx) walk from the train station. Come out of it and turn left, up the bank. Check out what events are on!

The church is stunning but we quite often visit the café which is excellent. I have a toddler who loves it there because they have a designated child's area with toys, play mats and plenty of high chairs. The food is great and reasonably priced and the staff are super friendly and extremely accommodating. It's honestly my favourite place to take my little one for lunch/afternoon tea!

Stunning church. The ceiling carvings are beautiful and the stained glass is some of the loveliest I've ever seen. Very friendly and helpful guides there to help as well.

As an avid traveller with some interest in history, photography and architecture, I recently had the pleasure of visiting Saint Mary's Church in the picturesque town of Shrewsbury, and I must say it was an amazing experience.
The staff at Saint Mary's were simply outstanding. Their warm and welcoming demeanour made me feel right at home. Their passion for the church's history was great and they were more than happy to share their knowledge with visitors. Their anecdotes about the church's past, especially the tale of Robert Cadman, the daring 18th-century professional daredevil/ropewalker, added a delightful touch of humour to the visit.
The church also houses a medieval stained glass window, known as the 'Jesse Window'. And it is a beautiful ancient work of art.
Highly recommended!

A fantastic treasure of a church with great architecture and awe inspiring stained glass windows. In the past it had links to royalty and was once one of the objects of pride for the town. The Jesse window is arguably one of the finest in the country. Always very peaceful and a great place to spend time reflecting and offers the opportunity to light a candle. They also have a very nice small cafe inside as well. It is, however, a tragedy that this is no longer a working church.

I myself am not religious but the history and architecture is amazing. Worth 10 minutes of your time.

The only original Saxon/Norman church standing in Shrewsbury. In the care of the churches conservation trust.famous for it's magnificent stained glass window 15th century Italian. Sadly now a redundant Anglican Church but most joyfully under the care of the Churches Conversation Trust for us all to enjoy today . It is a Grade 1 listed monument and believed to have been founded by King Edgar in the 10th Century .
As you enter on the tower there is a plaque to a 18th century daredevil who had performed his feats of daring as far afield as Dover and Lincoln . Unfortunately this Evel Knievel of the past came unstuck here whilst performing one of his stunts . So R.I.P. to Robert Cadman .
Inside the stained glass dates from the 14th to 19th centuries . The East Window of the chancel has a depiction of the Jesse Tree and depictions elsewhere of Bernard of Clairvaux and beautifully create the atmospheric feeling inside .
The day I visited the atmosphere being added to by a Steam punk festival . I must admit I didn't know much about these but they looked very glamorous and were very entertaining . I could have watched the ladies in Black and White dancing for hours and listened to the accompanying music also . A surprising 10/10 from me most entertaining and talented I shall have to look out for more of these festivals .
Beautiful place and a rather fascinating day.

A marvellous Church. It's worth looking up and down to see the decorative ceilings and the tiles beneath your feet.
The Anglican church Saint Chad's is a Neoclassical Georgian masterpiece in Shrewsbury, England. It has a long history with Charles Darwin and is worth a visit for that reason alone! The church has a distinctive round shape and high tower, making it easy to spot when you're in the town.
St.Chad church is the beautiful architecture of its own uniqueness of circular naves. The church entrance has first septum there Sunday class room and the second septum is the main entrance to the inner core of the church where visitors book and birth book placed. Inner part where the congregation's worship area.Beautiful inner carving, painting on the glasses, pulpit, set up, the beautiful font to where people are christened.Adorable music played and good to meditate and pray. Architect George Stuart was amazing.

St Chad's Church is in the round. St Chad's Church occupies a prominent position in Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. The current church building was built in 1792, and with its distinctive round shape and high tower it is a well-known landmark in the town.
The stained glass are very distinctive vibrant colours.

Normally most churches are pretty standard. Look nice from the outside and basic from within.
However, this church is quite the contrary. It has like such a beautiful architecture of its own and in such a unique of circular shape.
The church entrance has two entrances. The first septum is for like Sunday class room i am told by the vicar and the second septum is the main entrance to the inner core of the church where visitors book and ceremonies are held.
Its inside is very beautiful. The window carving, painting on the glasses, pulpit, set up for children and the front to where people are christened.
Very warm inside with the central heating working perfectly. They also have a children's play area.
Parking is free (I believe) but limited.

A must visit when in Shrewsbury because this church is quite unique in terms of its splendid architecture. The circular nave is the main attraction but also the stained glass windows. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the church. Evensong at 6pm on Sundays is an experience not to be missed.

Beautiful old Telford church. Very historic. Check out graveyard for the Christmas carol prop left behind 🙂

Such a wonderful look and feel about the place. This is the second St. Chad's reconstructed after collapsing using Shrewsbury Horticultural Society help and funding.
Christmas extra special with many trees on two floors in the round mostly representing charities. Also a great acoustic setting for artists. The graveyard has the original Ebenezer Scrooge grave from the George C Scott film.
Parking cheaper than the on street charges. (Do not use the machine) that is for the street not the church. Visit early evening on a sunny day for great photos.

Lovely and usually church, shape of the building allows for a larger that normal of pews all very well maintained. Lovely enamel windows and organ.
James Butterworth — Google review
A distinctive looking church built in 1792 on the hill in the Shrewsbury overlooking the Quarry Park and the River Severn. The bell tower is visible across much of the town, and the unique, round structure lends itself to a very characterful nave and alter. Even the pews themselves are rounded, all facing towards the altar and impressive stained glass windows.
There is a mezzanine around the nave with additional seating. There is also a small chapel to the old Shropshire Regiment.

Great place to visit if you have the time very colourful stained glass windows inside shame did not get time to enjoy. they also was going to have a small show concert but did not have time to stay and listen to it. but have been told its worth a visit at the correct time.
The new Telford Exotic Zoo has a wide variety of animals from all over the world, with a particular focus on conservation. The zoo is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and is perfect for families with children aged 4+.
Had a fox experience today, which was my moms Xmas present off me, so 4 of us went, had such a lovely day, Yogi & Freya the foxes were amazing, their handler Ryan was great, very friendly. The lady on front desk was really polite an friendly also, well actually every worker we spoke to or passed was all lovely an friendly. Plenty of animals, plenty of fusses an strokes. Most animals are rescues. They are always expanding an updating the zoo for the benefit of the animals. We will definitely be going back again x

Brilliant town zoo. Not huge, but animals appear well cared for and enclosures are a good size. We did an armadillo experience and was extremely happy with the whole experience, Sam was very knowledgeable, took time to answer questions and clearly cares for the animals (even allowed by husband and 2 year old to join in with feeding the big armadillo which made the experience so much better). Animals all seemed happy and were active. The cafe is beautifully decorated (with animals which toddler loved!) and food/drinks were great value and good quality. All staff we met were helpful, chatty and smiling. Overall, would highly recommend.

For a small little wildlife park, we had a lovely few hours! The staff were very friendly and at the time of our visit they had some snakes out of their cages, 1 of which you were able to touch. My little ones absolutely loved it! They also enjoyed feeding some the animals, the goats were a big hit! There is a good range of animals to see, all of which were milling about in their enclosures or you could see them in their houses. The paths in parts were muddy, which is to be expected after the wet weather we've been having. Just make sure you've got sensible footwear on! The small dinosaur museum on site was interesting and the kids enjoyed having a look around. Overall, we had great time at the Exotic Zoo!

Moved location and recently opened. All nice and clean, great location and surroundings. Animals look well cared for and staff are very informative and friendly. Lovely touch that they allow you to get up close and even touch some of the animals. However I did feel that during this time visitor numbers need reducing. I felt very claustrophobic and anxious due to the amount of people considering the actual place is relatively small even though it's mainly all outside. I think also having people to queue up in turn to see and touch the animals close up would be a great idea. You feel you have to just jump in quick otherwise waiting patiently for your turn just gets ignored. I would of loved to have stayed longer but because of all the people I felt like I couldn't wait to leave. It's great value for money and I do really want to come back again but I think I'll wait until everything and everyone has calmed down.

Absolutely one of the best days out I have ever experienced. This zoo is such a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I went today for the Lemur experience, which was a birthday present. We were both just over the moon. We got a whole box of sliced up banana and dried fruits to give to them. They were so adorable taking it from our hands and climbing over us. So soft too! Never imagined a lemur to be as soft. The zoo keeper that came in with us was also so lovely, answered any questions we had and also told us in general about the lemurs, how long they had them and what they are like.
After our experience we spent a couple more hours walking around the zoo. It is a pretty small place, but I think for me that made it so much better. There are zoo keepers all around, and regular feedings so that you can learn about the animals and watch them as they scramble around for their food - so very cute! It was like having a personalised tour around the place, but it was just for everyone to experience!
Would absolutely love to come back here again for one of the other experiences they hold. You can really tell how happy the animals are, and how much the keepers care about them. 10/10 recommend!!

We booked the VIP Family Experience and we were not disappointed. On arriving we were given a list of the animals we could choose from to take around with us. We explored the zoo and had lots of fun and interactions before we even got to start our experience. There were lots of staff around, providing talks and chances to meet various animals. We’d had a great visit before our experience even started. All the enclosures looked amazing and enriching and the whole place was clean, and tidy, even the toilets lol.
Later we met with Sam, who took our list of choices and once we started she gathered lots of food for us to feed the different animals. She gave us a fantastic experience. She has a great personality and gave us lots of information and interaction with each animal and answered our many questions. She never rushed us and we felt we had a good amount of time with every animal we met. We were able to get lots of photo opportunities and had so much fun even with being rained on at times. This was such an amazing experience and definitely worth every penny. I would highly recommend visiting and if you can stretch to get one of the experiences, you will not be disappointed.
Big thanks to all the staff at Exotic Zoo who made this a great day and a massive thank you to Sam who was absolutely awesome!!!

Visited here for the first time with my partner on Monday. It was a really nice experience, it is a very small yet great zoo, friendly staff and a surprising amount to look at considering the size. The animals have lots of space to roam about - not at all cramped together. A very well looked after zoo.

My husband and I were given an experience here, so I can't comment on the price.
The zoo is quite small, although bigger than I thought it might be. There are lots of different animals, many I'd never seen before, and one or two I'd not even heard of! It took us about 45 minutes to wander around all of the enclosures. I think we went at a good time - mid-March, mid-week, midday, and outside of school holidays!
The experience we had was with armadillos. It was a gift through Redletter Days. We could choose our preferred day and time with the zoo, communicating by email.
The experience with the armadillos was amazing. I love most animals, but armadillos had never really been one I'd be crazy about seeing. After this experience, I may have changed my mind! They were so lovely. We got to hold a 3-banded atmadillo and feed the two 6-banded armadillos. They were much more adorable than I'd imagined. The young man (Jack) who led the experience was very lovely. He made the experience fun, interesting, and informative.
The Jungle Cafe was nice. I find many zoo cafes aren't up to much, but this one was. It was clean and spacious, drinks and snacks were fairly reasonably priced, and the people were also lovely.
The zoo is a little out of the way. We got to Telford on public transport, then a taxi from Telford Station. The taxi driver said he didn't know this zoo existed! We did walk back to the station, which took about 25 minutes.
The zoo itself has quite good accessibility in most areas as it is level with wide walking areas. It does get muddy, though. Anywhere that isn't flat is accessible by ramps.
If it wasn't for taking well over 2 hours to get there from where I live, it'd certainly be somewhere I'd visit more often in the future!

Absolutely amazing find this zoo! We spent a few hours here and we enjoyed it more than some of the bigger zoos. Loved the enclosures, and the animals were all out and about which makes a change from not seeing anything at other zoos. The staff were lovely and knowledgeable and were more than happy to chat to us about the animals and how it all got started. A huge plus is that you can buy food to feed some of the animals! An absolute bargain! A must for kids (both little and big). If we're ever down this way again we will certainly bob in for another nosey. Thankyou to the superb staff for such an excellent experience!

Amazing little place. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff who are so happy to talk to you about the animals. Lots of different critters to see and because it is not a huge place and the way the enclosure's are set up you feel like you're really up close and personal. There's also lots of talks and animals out to see, you can feed the goats and miniature horse and my daughter was able to hold a snake and we got to stroke a not hedgehog (I can't remember what it was called but it came from Madagascar and was more closely related to an elephant apparently!) would definitely recommend and will be going again!

We went for the Armadillo experience and it was wonderful! The lady that told us all about them clearly is passionate about all the animals. We also noticed just how friendly the rest of the staff were. Everyone we passed gave us a cheery hello and whilst in the Rainforest building the staff were chatting to us about the animals. Wonderful place and I can't wait to take the children there when the weather is better 😊

We had a person called Sam for our experience. She was really good and explained all the facts about the animals and their background. She was really good with the animals, and patient with the children. She offered an alternative animal not on the option list as one we picked was not available. We had a great time today and recommend going here as its a great family day. The zoo itself was really great and had lots of animals to explore, plus the extra cold blooded experience finished the day perfectly. Thankyou to Sam and all the staff.

Absolutely wonderful little outing here. All staff so warm, friendly, welcoming and informative. A lovely selection of well looked after exotic animals to see and a chance to feed a couple with a little £1 bag feed was fun. Gift store was fairly priced with lots of lovely little take away items and the food at the cafe for a quick energy boost was reasonable with fantastic theming. I would go again. Worth the price.
The Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is a family-focused zoo with animals from meerkats to farmyard favourites, while Dinosaur World is a small zoo featuring dinosaurs. Both are great for food, staff and animals and would make an excellent tourist attraction.
Received a 'Meet the Meerkats' voucher as a gift and was not disappointed! There are 3 different enclosures to visit with the meerkats so you can see and learn about the different habitats. You get to feed most of them whilst there and the animals have a great time using you as a climbing frame! The staff were extremely knowledgeable, respectful of all the animals and answered all our questions. There are lots of other animals to see and feeds. Would highly recommend for all ages!

A mixture between a farm, a zoo and a dinosaur experience. Lots of opportunities for children to feed and pet animals. The keepers are so happy to talk about the animals here. There are lots of wild cats not normally found in zoos. A lot of the animals have been rescued.

Brought my 10 year old daughter the carnivore experience for Christmas and we went today. Absolutely fantastic day and some lovely memories made. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond. Grace our keeper was a font of knowledge, patient, kind and encouraging to my daughter when she was a little wary and great with all the animals. A good number of the animals were rescued. We loved the cheeky otters, lemurs and different owls and cats. The experience itself involved handling a Burmese python, owl, feeding foxes (either arctic or red foxes) and spending time in with a serval cat.

Lovely afternoon out here on a day that had started rainy so it was very quiet. It was bigger than expected with quite a large selection of animals and it was heaven for my daughter who loves foxes and big cats (the biggest here being lynx). We saw others taking part in an experience which we'll definitely do in the future. Some of the enclosures are on the small side but the animals all looked to be in good health. Another review described this place as 'rustic' and I think that hits the nail on the head! In our afternoon there we didn't have as much time as we'd have liked but we did just about get round the animals and Dinosaur wood, I'd say you could easily spend the full day here. The playground areas were fab. We didn't do any of the paid activities as they were largely closed due to the weather and we couldn't do the wallaby or lemur walks either so we'll be back when the weather is better to do the things we missed. Wellies recommended if it's been raining as it is very muddy in places. The intercom/loudspeaker system was very crackly on our visit and we couldn't hear properly what was being said - this may have been down to the weather. Staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. All in all a great day out and we are looking forward to returning!

They also had incredible food in the cafe, had jacket potato beans and cheese was delightful, whilst the child played on the playground.
They had a huge bouncy pillow too, both adults and children can enjoy together ❤️

We went as a couple as we love animals but it's more suited for families. Had a really amazing time though despite this. The animatronic dinosaurs were much more impressive than we thought they would be and we managed to see just about all of the animals! Posted a good few pictures for the review. For families we noticed they have soft play, buggy storage and other activities and you can also buy animal feed for £3 and feed some of the animals too. There's also a cafe which is priced fairly and a gift shop.

A great day out!
The walk-through Ring-tailed Lemur enclosure is worth the price of admission alone. I visited on 3rd June 2023 and was lucky enough to see a mother Lemur carrying 2 babies.
A member of staff told me that the walk-through enclosure is only open during school holidays and weekends, so be sure to check before going if this is something you're interested in. For me, it made the visit.
If you want to save a bit of money, be sure to order online and check for any concessions you may be eligible for.

Undercover eating areas is a bonus. Great play area with different sized play equipment. Plenty of parking just drive slow and a good helping of uneven potholes. Dinosaur area a defient must for Dino enthusiasts, noisey though so be careful with very young children.

Absolutely amazing day out with my loved ones. Lots to do and see. All the staff are very cheerful and helpful. Food is reasonably priced, but it's not a large menu. Loads of picnic spots if you want to take your own food.
Highly recommended for animal and dinosaur lovers.

A great find for a family day trip. We stopped here en route to a holiday. Dinosaur world is fabulous, plenty of huge dinosaur models for all ages. Lots of signs with facts and some links to Jurassic park films. The play area entertained our children for ages, particularly the jumping pillow. Plenty of picnic tables if you want to take your own food. A little cafe there with snacks, treats and some hot food such as burgers and hit dogs. The animals are fun to see also. Lots of birds, some adorable deer, and varieties of cat. When we visited there were baby meerkat. We enjoyed feeding sheep and goats. The highlight is the lemur walk where you can get very close to the happy ring tailed lemurs. Tips, buy tickets online for a saving and wear wellies as understandably given recent rain it is muddy.

We had a brilliant day out here. Being able to get up close with the animals was a fantastic experience and the kids absolutely loved it. When we went there were some very young meerkats and they were fun. A very fun time was had by my whole family and the price was very fair so all in all highly recommend this to all families

I was so impressed with Hoo zoo. We went on a busy Saturday, having booked at short notice and it was so good. Just about every exhibit is great and very well thought out. There are some really some good talks through the day and you really get a sense of how much the keepers care about the animals.
The site is wheelchair and pushchair friendly though I would say that when we went the site was extremely muddy after a spell of heavy rain and this could cause some problems.
If you visit the lemur enclosure make sure you go around a few times. They can be a bit skittish at first but when they get used to you they will all appear and it is magical. Be careful not to bring any food because they will have it off you, even it's in your pockets. This happened to me so be careful 😂
The childrens play area is really well appointed too. There are several large areas that include a sandpit, a trampoline and a pirate ship. There's a zipwire too.
It was really pretty expensive compared to other similar places but I would say that it was worth it. The site is filled with things to do and we could easily have spent several more hours there. I can't recommend Hoo zoo enough.

Lovely day out, plenty of animals to see and added bonus of the dinosaurs.
The lovely cat near the entrance was very friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed a delicious jacket potato meal and great coffee from the cafe, there are picnic tables to sit outside. Hand wash stations available around the farm. Enjoyed helping the keeper feed some of the animals and hearing about them. Wear wellies/walking boots if it has been wet for a few days! Limited parking by entrance but there is an overflow car park.

Excellent place for kids, staff were very child friendly. Try and go early and get to see the animals while not busy or at 3.00 pm when they have feeding time.
Great playground, especially when the weather is better and it has dried up a bit! Will definitely go again!

Hoo zoo zookeeper experience was amazing, we loved the meerkats and lemurs. We met a lovely skunk who snuggled down on my lap. Food was great, the dinosaur walk was amazing. We spent a whole day here and loved every moment ❤️ our guide was absolutely wonderful and answered all the questions.
Telford Town Park is a large, family-friendly park with a range of activities to enjoy, including an aerial ropes course and five play areas for kids. The park also has an adventure mini-golf course, cycle centre, fishing pools and visitor centre with cafe. Along with its sensory garden, formal flower gardens, bandstand and 62 hectare Local Nature Reserve, the park is a great place to spend a afternoon or afternoon out.
I grew up in the town, so know it very well.
Telford Town Park is acknowledged as one of the best for entertainment, features and great for family and kids, not just in the West Midlands, but nationally.
It has Green Flag recognition six years running, which is a mark of quality. It's not a sales line, it's a statement of fact, but if you think Iam biased, visit for yourself.
The park has at least two duck ponds, climbing frames, climbing bouncy tight ropes etc
It's open from early up to 8/9pm Monday to Saturday. Closed slightly earlier Sunday.
It's right next to Telford Town Centre with plenty of different shops to buy from and walk through several acres of scenic park landscape.
Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely park and woodland areas. Plenty of trails to go off along. A few pools dotted around and the Stirchley Chimney from its former days as a brick works. Lots of picnic areas to watch the wildlife and enjoy the peace. Disc Golf and Exotic Zoo there too.

Nice for a day out, lots of things to do, whether you have children or not. The walk around the park is relaxing on a nice day with plenty of amenities if needed at most points around the park too, a drastic improvement from what it used to be when I was a child.

Definitely the best park we have visited with our daughter.
Could literally spend the day here and she would be engaged and occupied.
Lots of Childrens play areas with exciting equipment, in good condition.
Plenty of benches for adults to take the weight off their feet.
Clean toilets and stalls selling ice creams, coffee, confectionery etc.
we took our own lunch and parking cost us £5 for the day on Dark Lane car park next to wonderland.

Lovely park have to walk through for work etc it’s kept very clean and it’s lovely in all seasons of the year! Quite a few different walks of the town park as well, a big playground for children and it’s right next to town so it’s walkable also has a food and drinks stand, not sure when this is open though and has the visitor centre next to the playground. Nice park to visit 👍👍

Telford Steam Railway is a heritage railway in Telford, England that operates two steam locomotives from the 1920s and 1930s. The railway also has a model railway and offers train driving courses.
The Polar Express was very well managed and the actors taking part superb. We loved the young singer who can only have been 12/13. Our conductor in Donner was great and very energetic. Altogether a lovely experience except I could not find the loo at the end

Not a far journey but still very worth it, friendly volunteers and it's all fun even with a miniature railway 🚂.
Certainly worth a stop by and try to support them.

The Polar express. What can I say it was the BEST Christmas experience We have ever had. I would definitely recommend it. The ride smooth and no issues at all. We had a rider with allergies. Completely catered for the best way to describe it is a Theatre production on a train. It was magnificent! the conductor stevie, Chef Katie, and the Hobo was as truly amazing the Children phenomenal! Absolutely blown away from the experience everyone on our part of the train Rudolph were incredible!!!! from start to finish!

Had a great day on my Diesel Experience driving up and down the line in my "little" 52 tonne Class 08 locomotive. None of the volunteer staff could have been more friendly, knowledgeable or enthusiastic and really added to the day. Everything from the the breakfast bap through the model railway to the driving the train itself along the very picturesque line was first rate. An excellent experience that both my partner and I will remember for a very long time.
Richard Brant — Google review
We visited here for the polar express experience and had the most fantastic time.
Everything about the experience was streamlined and perfectly organised and to top it off, it was 'the best Christmas experience' we have ever done.
Tickets and letter with instructions arrived in the post with plenty of time. Directions to the park and ride were clear. We arrived in good time and were able to get onto the bus for transfers to the train station. Here we were greeted by staff who explained the agenda. There was some hot food available to buy, hot drinks also. Extra toilets too so not much queuing.
There is a model railway to enjoy along with some entertainment in a marquee to entertain in the run up to the train ride.
Once called up to get on board, we headed down onto the platform where staff were great in character whilst ensuring safety around the track in the dark!
Carriages were set out clearly which made waiting in the correct place easy to find.
The performance began and my children- and me- were mesmerised! On the train everything was delivered with such enthusiasm and enjoyment. It was magical. We are glad we paid for the full experience with gift and bag for our first time but would perhaps not next time.
It followed the story brilliantly, the little girl singing was fab and chef tinsel, particularly, was incredibly friendly- but so was everyone from the bus driver to the conductor! We had such a blast!🚂🎅🎄

We had a lovely visit on the Telford Steam Railway to take a trip on the polar express. We parked at Ironbridge Park and Ride and got a bus to the station. They had put on a lovely evening with free entertainment and some food stalls, there was a lovely model train village as well.
The Polar Express was magical. I won't give too much away, but it was a lovely evening.
Very helpful and friendly staff throughout.

The entertainment on the train was brilliant and we all enjoyed it. The shuttles provided meant there was no issues with parking. Would highly recommend.

I took my son here for a quick visit on our travels, it was closed by the time we got there but there was still a load of trains you could get close to he still loved it even on a cold and downcast day. Would like to see it open and talk to the engineers. Sorry I didn't get any photos, but there's a little chippy and a nice lake to sit by

Visited here for the Polar Express with 2 families. Overall we really enjoyed it. The park and ride is effortless - and drops you right at the attraction.
The initial waiting when they ask you to arrive before your train is fine initially - you can view the model railway, view a short screening and then pop to the loo.
The food and drink is over priced for what it is (chips and instant coffee) but it is what it is. They always make money here. So if I were you I'd bring some snacks if the kids are likely to be hungry.
The train ride itself was fantastic. The kids and adults had fun. Hot chocolate on the train was lovely, the cookie decent and the Santa experience was nice too.
Gift shop prices - as expected are a bit steep and you can get the same "official" merch cheaper online by about 20% - so do check if money is tight.
Other than Lapland UK this has been one of our favourites for Christmas.

We visited for the Fish n Chips Saturday Special and we had a wonderful time.
There were five of us in our party, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food (piping hot and good portions, exactly what we ordered).
Drinks and chocolate were available throughout the journey at a reasonable price.
The staff were all really friendly throughout the experience and we'd happily come again for another event. Very well priced as well

Shropshire Sculpture Park offers a cultural and educational experience for visitors. The park features stunning sculpture pieces and artwork with messages about endangered species, environmental issues, and overconsumption. Even the eatery is decorated with sculptures and art, adding to the overall ambiance of the place. It's evident that love, care, and attention to detail have gone into creating this unique destination. Visitors are encouraged to spend at least 3 to 4 hours exploring all that the park has to offer.
Fantastic day out. Lovely grounds with fantastic sculpture. Dog friendly. Areas that the dogs could not visit was the shop area. Toilets are very clean and tidy. Only one downfall was the lack of staff in the cafe. All staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend. Where would you find a good educational day out for £5 per person.

I'd read about this place and thought it was worth a visit. It was a good hours drive away.
The ironworks shop was an emporium and I could have spent a good hour walking around it. The cafe was busy and the food looked delicious.
There was plenty of outdoor space to sit, so I can imagine in the summer it would be lovely.
The iron sculptures were incredible. But sadly they were too spread out, it would have been better if they were closer together. This is why I've given it 3 stars.
But the rest of the place I would give 5 stars.

Great place, lots of sculptures to see. My only criticism is that some of the sculptures for kids like Batman, HellBoy, Capt America have been moved into a busy cafe area so kids can't really have photos taken which was a shame as those are the main ones kids want photos with! Cafe was nice, very busy but food was good and portion was good value.
Lovely little shops with some nice handmade gifts, nice little "hippie" shop with a medium who picked up on lots of stuff for me without us even asking! Lovely guy too and he was spot on! Will be booking a private reading soon I think!

Nice place to go when the sun's out, some really good sculptures with a lot of detail, there's plenty to see, the cafe has a moderate price range but the food is very good quality. It's a very clean route around the sculptures, although a few paths were a bit of a challenge in a wheelchair, a good trip out for a very good price.

These micro breweries have a habit of finding me. This one located in Ludlow inside what looked like an old railway building was a great place. We tried 6 of the beers I think there was 7 or 8 all together. The beers were all very nice, ranging from light beers to stouts. There's plenty of room for everyone in the spacious building, over 2 floors with outside seating just near the door and on the first floor balcony. The brewing equipment is on show on the first floor, the staff all knew the beers and there's also clean toilets off to the right.

We were lucky to get a place on the tour at the last minute as someone had dropped out. However, it was more of a "look" than a "tour" due to the small size of the place.

The Brewery is part of the local community and has a great feel in that everyone is friendly beers not over priced but very tasty ..! I would suggest that if you’re genuinely interested in knowing more about the building and types of hops brewing processes you go on the tour of the building, you will meet Edd his knowledge about the processes plant and system is just astounding .. the tour is just over the hour which goes very fast ending by tasting some of the beers they brew. If you’re in or near Ludlow this place is a must to visit !

St. Laurence's Church in Ludlow is a 12th-century Anglican church with unique features, such as a large bell tower and intricately carved misericords. Although somewhat obscured by the nearby Market Hall, the church's interior is stunningly decorated with ornate ceilings and decorative details in every corner. Visitors can speak with knowledgeable volunteers who can explain the significance of each piece, including a misericord depicting the punishment for short measure ale salesmen. Overall, St.
Fantastic church, a cathedral in all but name. Very helpful church warden with lovely stewards too. Tower was worth the £5 per person to go up as the climb and the views were great!

This church is really amazing.
To be honest l haven't expected such a lovely church full of masterpieces in such a small Town as Ludlow.
Deff worth visiting!

This church is a fascinating building full of history across hundreds of years. It remains an important place of worship and is also a significant amenity that sits at the heart of Ludlow centre. It offers its visitors an insight into the lives of previous citizens and the wider history of the area. The volunteer staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the church and there is a small shop and café allowing visitors to linger a while and soak up the atmosphere of this fabulous building.
It's also worth taking a trip to the top of the tower to enjoy the views over the Shropshire countryside, and also hear the peal of bells from the carillon at certain times of the day. Definitely worth a visit. Entry is free, and there is a small charge to climb the tower to the roof (201 steps)!

Interesting visit to a medieval woolchurch. A very impressive building with wonderful features from across the ages. The volunteer guide was helpful, informative and enthusiastic. He really did a great job. There is so many quality features that it's hard to know where to start. The carvings in the chancel are astounding, but so is the roof, the glass, the tower... it goes on. We're looking forward to coming back. Next time we'll go up the (42 metre) tower!

Wonderful church in the centre of town . Prince Arthur prince of Wales who died age 15 at Ludlow his heart is buried here .you can climb the church tower to the top . Amazing stained glass windows. Well worth a visit just to see the interior even if you don't want to climb the tower. Lovely old font .

For a small (£4) fee I was able to climb the narrow and difficult steps (approx. 200) up the tower. The photos show the views.
The church was welcoming - with a very friendly gentleman pointing out historically interesting features.
As is proper for a church there was prayer over the Tannoy - whatever one's beliefs that was a reminder that churches are still a working environment (sic) not merely an historical structure.
Kevin Bryant — Google review
I came across a sign saying that the Church was open and on impulse, popped in. Whilst it's visible from around the town, once you are at the end of the market, it's slightly obscured by the Market Hall. Once inside, it's stunning. There are volunteers to explain things - the gentleman explaining the misericords was particularly interesting - pointing out the one of what happened to the Brewster who sold short measure ale in Ludlow - the third picture in the attachments below - that shows her hauled to trial and then fed into the mouth of Hell. Do also look up - the tower and the ceilings are beautifully decorated. There's something in every nook and cranny that draws the eye.
The castle, which is one of the best preserved medieval manors in England, features a beautiful chapel, a garden and a moat. There is plenty to do on a day out at the castle, including visiting the tearoom where delicious lunches, snacks and cakes are served.
Lovely visit here on a May Bank Holiday Monday not that many people around that day so not very busy. Tea room was unfortunately closed and please be aware some of the steps, stairs and floors are uneven, being such a old property this is not very suitable for people with physical disabilities depending on how thier disabilities affect each person. But this a very tranquil place near to Craven Arms and In a picturesque place. Ran by English Heritage the staff were helpful and the gift shop was OK. Well worth a visit if your a history buff like us your better off sighnig up to the monthly fee so you can get in most places for free .But overall a lovely place to visit with a Church Yard nearby and a small cottage garden within the grounds. Well worth a visit .

This is a hidden gem! We only happened upon it by driving past having visited Ludlow Castle that was slightly disappointing. This is lovely. There is a large var park and a large cafe. Staff were really friendly and there are disabled toilets. The castle obviously difficult to access - I was able to walk off my scooter. It is beautiful. The gatehouse looks like something out of Harry Potter. The rooms are largely intact and the history is fascinating. We had the booklet to give us all the information and pictures of the rooms as they would have been. Fabulous place.

This is a really beautiful medieval Manor House. It is so lovely. The church is well worth a visit too. Lovely walk and view from the back in front of the pond although the water level was very low. Nice gift shop. I’m glad I went to the cafe last rather than first based on previous reviews about waiting times. I found the younger lady in the cafe rather abrupt. She informed me that the kitchen closed at 3 pm ( I had not realised this) and that it was 3:17 pm. I found this to be verging on impertinence. I would visit the site again but not the cafe. I would take a packed lunch.

Stopped off on the way to Ludlow Castle. It is amazing, the best castle we've visited (we've seen a lot). There is an audio tour giving the history and pointing out features of interest. From the basement to the great hall to the gallery and tower, there are a lot of steps and a tight spiral stone staircase to the tower roof. Don't miss the ancient church. (We didn't bother with Ludlow!)

Great place to visit English Heritage. Interactive devices tell the story in detail. Good cafe just along the lane plenty of seating. Great walks/hikes in the area.
Pete Hancock — Google review
Quite a small site, but well worth a visit. Kids enjoyed the Easter trail, quoits and egg & spoon race and the adults enjoyed the 'Giants' riddle' trail. Staff / volunteers were very helpful and friendly. Lovely views from the top of the tower.
Tom Whalley — Google review
Lovely place to visit but it is a manor house rather than a castle. Lots of old spiral staircases which should be considered by those with limited mobility. Book online to save money. I've only scored 4 stars because parking is an additional £3 on top of the entrance fee which, in my opinion should be included
Hazel Lowe — Google review
Beautiful 'castle' (fortified house) with lovely views. The solar room with the carved fireplace is stunning. The audio tour is really good. We really enjoyed the garden areas too. Well worth a visit.
Lauren Sullivan — Google review
It's just amazing. The architecture is stunning and visible before entering the English heritage property. Volunteers are very kind and helpful, and the information provided is good. There are toilets and a small gift shop at the entrance of the property and English heritage tea room next to car park
Not suitable for people with restricted mobility as small steep steps and uneven surfaces. Dog friendly, although they cannot go inside buildings.

Lovely castle, we only got to go around the outside as they had an event on and needed prebooked tickets. Still lots to do! So much history. Very worth a visit.
Good parking, gift shop, friendly staff.

Beautiful location, and just so nice to explore.
It isn't the most decorated place, but the house itself is beautiful, and the views make it all worth while!
I'd definitely recommend bringing a picnic and spending a view hours here, the audio guide is interesting, and if you fancy a challenge they have the giants riddle trail which is fun to do with little ones or just for fun!

If English Heritage and the National Trust shared a night of passion, Stokesay Castle would be the resulting love child. English Heritage looks after the kid, but it’s a most unusual castle. It’s really a fortified Manor House that still has a roof and gives the impression of homeliness. You can imagine people safely tucked up in their beds here. We visited on a lovely Summer’s day but even in the depths of winter, I can’t imagine this place ever looks bleak and forbidding. A great place to show the kids that castles were also homes.
Joanna Kelly — Google review
The most complete fortified manor house, that I have ever visited. Friendly helpful staff. A clean and well looked after site. Nice toilets with plenty of space. There was a well stocked gift shop. The audio guide, was a little difficult to follow, when you first arrive, we listened to the first instruction on our way out but its a really good place to visit.
With a lovely tea room with a really good selection of foods and drinks and plenty of tables too.
I couldn't manage the top floor, as the look of the very narrow stairs put me off. It's a place that we will visit again as we realy fell in love with the place
Barry Jones — Google review
Fully intact fortified manor house with nearly every room accessible. You can also get to the to the top of the tower. No windows, just wooden framework in the stone lined holes. The ornate gatehouse is beautiful, but only one downstairs room accessible for safety reasons. The church in the grounds is worth a look too and is open the same hours as the castle. It's been on my bucket list for a while now, and it didn't disappoint.
Geoff Wakelam — Google review
Idyllic castle and very unusual - guaranteed great photos from any angle whatever the weather.
My second visit and I think I loved it more! Small and compact, it's easy to navigate. The kids trail was really good, inventive and with a great ending. For everyone else you can wander with limited information or take the audio guide for more informative tours.
Lovely cafe by the car park too.
Jonathan Hoare — Google review
Lovely day out.
The castle is really nice, it's got a lot more character than one that's been restored and overly touristy.
One thing I would suggest as an improvement would be to add internal lighting, I know it's not ideal however there are some quite dark areas particularly the stairs to the tower which makes it difficult to see where you're stepping.
It also made it difficult in some areas to read the information boards as the natural light wasn't fantastic.
Other than that the castle is great, fantastic vies of the surrounding area, the adjacent church is very pretty.

Really interesting buildings. Very well maintained facilities, shop and tea room. The audioguide had plenty of stories and information. Well worth a visit for all the family, including your dog. There are picnic benches next to the building too.

Very atmospheric fortified medieval manor house, sensitively restored. Great views and very interesting to see the 13th century wooden stairs still functioning and the Jacobean panelled room

Lovely place well maintained. Not much exhibits within the big rooms but the buildings themselves look lovely. Only downside is no direct public transport from crave arms but it is walkable.

Stokesay Castle, a fortified medieval manor house dating from 13thC. The 'manor house' was built on the site of an even earlier castle by the wool merchant Laurence of Ludlow one of the richest men in England. The timber gatehouse dates from 17thC when the property was owned by William Craven, the first earl of Craven. There are great views over the Shropshire countryside.
Loved it!
Chris Kinnersley — Google review
We all loved the castle. Very impressive on multiple floors with lots of variations. Most rooms were BIG and all stone/oak, varied with different floor levels, windows, doors etcetera for interest/practicality. Quite outstanding and the grounds were equally impressive!
We all felt let down by the cafeteria though, small, unimpressive and not very good food. However we did get a table ok at a busy time and the dog was allowed in.
John Theron — Google review
For a weekday, surprisingly busy. One of the best preserved examples of a medieval fortified manor house. Great views from the North Tower. Very friendly staff & guides. Excellent audio tour if a little bossy (you'll understand once you've listened to it). Spend an hour or so looking round before sampling the delights of the cafe (note: very popular with local ramblers).
Ian Roberts — Google review
A must visit if you like medieval history, this fortified manor house is in excellent condition and is a very well looked after site. It is in a very scenic location with great views from the tower. There is an excellent tea room and gift shop, as well as a large car park. However, it is an easy walk from Craven Arms if travelling by train.

So well maintained and welcoming staff.
Brilliant audio tour to guide you through.
At the end a lovely tea room for refreshments. Brilliant!
The Carding Mill Valley is a large heath area located in the Shropshire Hills. The Long Mynd is a similar heath area located in the same national park, but it is much longer than the Carding Mill Valley.
It's truly beautiful here, one of my favourite places to walk. The scenery is beautiful, from the waterfall to the reservoir. The cafe is spacious and does great cakes, food, drinks and ice cream. I've been here several times and would highly recommend visiting.

Absolutely beautiful countryside with plenty to see. Walks are well sign posted. The cafe is a welcome resting place with good staff, enjoyable food & clean facilities. Car park when we went was ample but I would imagine in the Spring and Summer spaces will go quickly. £5 all day for parking very reasonable these days. A very enjoyable days walking.

First time here was early summers evening, perfect atmosphere, a few people enjoying the stream with a drink or two. Spot on.
Decided to return a week later for an afternoon picnic. Oh dear, multiple coaches, jammed with cars, school trips, etc bah!
There are some great walking trails, some of it challenging, some very challenging but all enjoyable. Parking £5.50.

I visited today for a nice walk and a swim in the reservoir.
I had to wait a short while to enter the car park but that was to be expected as it was a sunny day and lots of visitors.
I am a national trust member so I did not have to pay for parking, and there was a member of staff at the parking meter at the entry helping everyone which was appreciated.
The reservoir is beautiful, one side in the sun and the other more secluded and shaded.
The water was fresh, and easy to access, but I would recommend swim shoes to make it easier to walk on the stones as you enter and exit.
Stopped for a coffee at the tea room on the way out, sat on the roof terrace to drink it which was a nice little treat.
Claire Holden — Google review
To travel and enjoy such places in the UK one needs a heavy duty stroller, I regret not purchasing one at the onset.
We went on a sunny Saturday, hence the ground was dry. Parking was filling up. We did a lot of timepass in the stream. Lambs were grazing around fun to watch.
As we hiked up, the pushchair became useless. He walked a lot but eventually the toddler had to be carried to the waterfall.
We had a picnic atop the hill with great views and wind. During descent we took a wrong turn and came down a difficult descent.
Played near the reservoir a bit, as the sun had gone down did not swim in the cold water.
Toddler back to parking and home. Overall not too tiring and the toddler enjoyed as well.

From the youngest to the oldest; the casual and more serious walkers, one will find something here at Long Mynd. On the Queen's Jubilee holiday, the weather was dry, with bursts of glorious sunshine.
We enjoyed the hilly views, the children the streams, and the resident sheep made the hills very close and accessible indeed. The varied paths showed different facets of the hills, the faces of brown and green, rugged and smooth. You feel like you can touch the clouds (but not quite).
Highly recommended.

Beautiful site with a selection of walks and lots of parking. Free if you are a national trust member and a lovely cafe with a selection of fantastic cakes and meals. Lots of ice cream choice too. The walks to the waterfall and reservoir is very accessible and enjoyable with great views

This valley is a real gem which we have visited a number of times. A short drive or walk from Church Stratton. Large car park free to National Trust members. Nice cafe serving coffee and snacks. We had a cream tea before our recent walk. There are a number of short easy and longer more challenging walks. We walked to the waterfall then up to the top of Long Mynd. Dogs safe off lead but owners need to be considerate and control them especially when sheep are around. Beautiful views.
Christopher ?Chris? Woodward — Google review
Stunning area! This is a National Trust place free for members or £7.50 parking for non members. We walked to the Waterfall then on to the Long Mynd and back on a circular route. As it is national trust the pathways are well marked so easy to follow. The views are stunning. It can get very busy so would recommend and early start. Lovely cafe for when you have finished your walk.

One of the beautiful place of National Trust.
Magnificent scenery across the whole area.
Friendly staffs guide you with parking.
Parking charges £7.50 also can pay through card.
Cafe at the start of your journey also toilets available.
Cinematic scenery when walking / tracking / hiking.
Quite uneven surface not suitable for buggies.
But worth getting at the end when you see the Waterfall around 30 minutes walk depending how fast you are walking can take longer.
Walk to reservoir around 10 minutes beautiful rock stairs to go up to reservoir.

This is one of England's most beautiful spots for a hike. Stunning valley with differing length and complexity of walks and very helpful National Trust staff on hand for advice. Lovely tea room at the end.
Best of all it had snowed but the sun was out and we hiked for an hour in snow at the top of the valley. Absolutely stunning views!

Beautiful little find. £5 entry fee for parking only take contactless payment (no cash). Lovely valleys with the sheep and baby lambs wondering freely about the valleys. The scenery is great when you climb further up the valleys. The waterfall was a beautiful scene. Great trekking for all. Quite a few school trips were present on the day. Spent about 3-4 hours here. There is a public toilet and cafe on site, serving cakes, crisps, ice lollies, hot drinks etc. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be returning back. Appropriate footwear recommended if climbing the limestone rocks and steep valleys.
Ce Ce — Google review
Great walks here and a very scenic spout waterfall walk. The waterfall walk is rocky so not accessible for all and the main footpaths walk through Fords and streams so make sure to bring good and ideally waterproof footwear.
The carpark is pretty large and it pay and display and free for National trust members.
There is also a National trust coffee shop with great coffee and cakes to either sit in or take away.

This is an amazing place with hiking routes wherever you look. There is something to see at all levels. From waterfalls, reservoirs, beautiful trees to a golf course on the top of a group of hills. There are plenty of places for paid and unpaid car parking with information centres, cafes, etc. This is a great place for family/group and individual hiking with an appropriate level of challenge. I have personally had picnics with a group of friends both in the valleys under the shade of trees with a cool breeze and hill tops with unbelievable views as far as the eye can see. You could spend days here exploring different areas. If you like hiking, you must try this place at least once.

Absolutely amazing! We stayed @sycamoreschristianretreat which is a Manor house on national trust land. There's a brook which runs in front of the house... it's so peaceful. The sound of birdsong is so clear. Whatever time of year I go it's always breathtaking, food for my soul. I highly recommend visiting.

Nice place to go out with the family, the pictures don't do it justice. You can walk easily from the centre of Church Stretton or if you are a National Trust member you can park your car in the valley.
There is a coffee shop and toilets about half way up the valley and it's a nice but steep walk up to the reservoir.
All in all a nice day out for the family that does not cost anything if you like the outdoors and walking.

Beautiful landscape and wildlife, Carding Mill Valley was amazing to visit. It's kept incredibly clean and the miniature waterfalls sound so peaceful. Beautiful area - have been here with DofE groups several times and always amazed by the scale of the place.
If you are heading up to the top, make sure you have the right kit! Conditions change quickly and there is very little in the way of shelter...
Always nice to get back down into the valley for a coffee...

Lovely walk at Carding Mill Valley. We've completed the waterfall walk, and it was very and slippery due to yesterday's rainfall. We had to cross the stream at multiple locations. It was adventurous and would recommend suitable footwear. We also did the Reservoir walk on the way back. Nice tea room with toilet facilities near the car park. £5.50 for full day and friendly staffs to guide.

What an amazing hiking trail for hikers or beginners or for those who just want a family day out and picnic.
A variety of beautiful scenes, lovely wild life, birds, cattles and horses are there to meet and greet you 😊
So many choices of smooth tracks as well as challenging and tough routes towards summit.
Best is you have plenty of National Trust paid parking and their well managed cafeteria, tearooms and toilets.
What else you just need is the WILL to treat yourself and your loved ones with love of nature, one of the best places to get rid of stress and leave the anxieties of life for a day behind you. The end result is you will receive a peace of mind and guaranteed enjoyment ❤️

We travelled 4 hours to get there, but it was so worth it. Large parking, decent price. Very nice cafe with amazing food ( a lot for vegans too!). Beautiful, at times breathtaking views. Few trails to choose from, from 20 minutes, to 3 hours. Managed to climb up the waterfall trail and onwards with my dodgy knee and the descent was quite steady and pleasant, with just amazing sights in front. On top of Long Mynd before you know it. Back down just as easily. Who would have thought, Shropshire Hills are so beautiful.

Whether you enjoy a gentle walk or a serious hike, this is a great place to go. Parking, tearoom & toilets available at Carding Mill Valley.
Great place for young and old. I'm 71 and had no problem getting to the reservoir and waterfall. I would always recommend good boots and a hiking pole especially if going up on the Long Mynd: but others seem to manage with a great assortment of footwear. It is a favourite place for dog walkers.

The Land of Lost Content in Craven Arms is a unique independent museum that houses a vast collection of pop culture ephemera and ordinary objects from the pre-digital era. The museum is owned by eccentric artist Stella Mitchell and the Hemingway family, who are collectors of design history. It serves as a personal design archive for Hemingway Designs, showcasing obscure and ordinary items from the past.
This place is a magnet. We have been at least three times. Today was our fourth time. At the time of writing 2021 social distancing was in place but the timed system was perfect. Everything was simply magically as ever inside. You will never be bored with this place. You see something new each time. Kids love it. Adults love it. There’s something for everyone there. No wonder this hidden treasure is so popular. I found it purely by taking a wrong turn and I’ve been going back ever since. Just do yourself a favour and go. Thank me later.

The BEST museum I've ever been to - Ever!!! Makes it even better that it's independently owned by lovely people.
Completely worth the £8 adult entry (less for students and OAPs I believe)
There's an incredible range of items here. We spent 2+ hours here and easily could have taken longer but it was closing time! The 37 different sections are all unique and brilliant. Worth a stop if you're in the area or if you aren't!

Really enjoyed it. The presentation which at first glance seems haphazard adds to the charm. We found ourselves saying 'oh yeah, I remember that!!' about 400 times. There are some very special objects in the collection too, and some more modern everyday items which another museum might overlook, but which are a great document of culture. A unique place.

This place needs help.... but not what you think. Its PERFECT the way it is. They only have 4 years left. There is some sort of legal thing going on reference ownership. If there are any lawyers out there willing to help out or give their time for free then that would be amazing. This collection needs to stay together exactly as it is. Please if there's anyone out there that can help preserve this place then please contact them. I only wish I could help more.

A good informative place to visit if you want to know a little history about the area and the buildings. There is a large pay and display car park and benches to sit on to take in the views of the river and the Ironbridge. It's difficult to decide which of the Ironbridge Museums is the best as they are all so good.
The way that they have been set up to give a living presentation of the place at the start of the industrial Revolution is excellent, from the shops, engines, both static and the traction engines to the artisans really makes the history accessible to all ages.

I bought a vineyard tour experience for my sister for her birthday and we had this experience today. We both had a great time learning all about the vineyard and how the grapes are grown and the wine is made. The wine tasting was excellent with a good selection of delicious wines and lots of information to accompany.
The afternoon tea was fabulous too, all freshly made (which you can absolutely tell) and you get to overlook the beautiful vineyard whilst you enjoy.
The staff and owner of the vineyard were all an absolute pleasure and more than happy to help and answer any questions.

The Iron Bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that spans the River Trent in Nottingham, England. The bridge was built in 1779 and is the world’s first cast-iron bridge. It is also one of the most iconic landmarks in Nottingham, and underwent a 1m renovation thanks to English Heritage. The Bridge is open to the public from April-November, and features an exhibition on its history as well as night illumination.
We were in the area so decided to make a visit here. My 9 yr old loved it as much as me. Lovely village highstreet and lots of great shops and eateries. Views are spectacular, and the architecture is wonderful. The bridge itself is great and has access by foot only. Footpaths at various levels give you many perspective views of the bridges structure and beautiful local buildings.

A nice place to appreciate some fresh air and a bit of British heritage in a lovely spot, along side the beautiful River Seven. Another good thing about this place is than, less than a mile and a half is the Coalbrookdale museum that gives more information about the bridge and where all the 380 tonnes of iron for the bridge was produced.

Amazing location, inspiring history and beautiful scenery. Plenty of parking spaces on either side of the bridge.
The bridge itself is lovely. Situated in a beautiful town with cafes, restaurants and stores. A museum filled with interesting information. Peaceful walks on the banks of Severn. 100% worth a visit.

Beautiful place. We parked in the car park of the museum and walked down. We followed the path down to the river, and there were some spectacular views. It's free to walk the bridge, and there are other places around to go to that show the history and the way it was built. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Beautiful scenery and small shops dotted around the famous Iron Bridge. We only stayed an hour, but want to come back and visit again as it felt so friendly and relaxed. There is ample parking and toilets in the town. Plenty of benches to rest tired legs.

The weather was perfect. The history was perfect. Being from Middlesbrough, the home of Iron & Steel to see Telfords bridge was a bucket list for me. A perfect pork pie and a pint of Guinness with amazing pork scratchings...
We came just to see the bridge but had a lovely walk and took in all there is to offer.

A really quiet beautiful place full of coffee shops and restaurants. Very quaint.
The car parks are nearly a mile away so a long walk to the bridge. Not suitable for disabled people unless you can park on the yellow lines in the town itself.
Once there time passes with ease as it a lovely place.

Ironbridge is a beautiful place to visit... The main attraction being the bridge but it is full of independent shops, pubs and eateries.
It is really well looked after, very clean and full of flowers perfect for that insta worthy photo
Lots of info on the history of the bridge are dotted around
We stayed overnight here and it was really lovely and quite peaceful once the day tourists has left

A sublime bridge and majestic piece of creative and engineering skill.
Having been constructed by Abraham Darby III between 1777 and 1779, being the first major cast iron bridge in the world, it still remains an engineering masterpiece, set amongst some of England's most tranquil and beautiful natural scenery. The adjacent village is also magnificent, and it's no surprise this place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for it truly deserves the honour.

Lovely little town. For some reason it appears many establishments close on a Monday - ?. It could examine why it wasn't as busy as we thought
Lovely views up and down the river though.
Like the gift shop in the olde toll building.
Car Park pricing across the River is very reasonable if staying more than 2 hours.

Very peacefull area, not many people around during our visit. Wonderful architecture and scenery, post flooding so many huge puddles around. Shops starting to display festive decorations. Beautiful place.

One of my favourite places. The gorge is scenic to say the least. It is spectacular from the ironbridge. Lots of museums in the area. The restaurants are superb with great food and excellent atmosphere. Most pubs offer accommodation and it well worth staying over. Highly recommended.

A lovely place to visit. The Ironbridge is well worth a walk around, under and over. There are museums and other attractions and towns nearby to visit. There are plenty of things to do, but it was pouring with rain on my visit, would have been much nicer in the sun.

Incredible visit , so much history in one place! Loads of museums to look at, although these are spread out along the gorge so you’ll need to plan parking etc. plenty of independent shops to pop in, a throughly enjoyable day out.

Beautiful little place to explore. The gorge has a few car parks and some on street free parking if you’re just looking to take a quick picture. We were passing nearby and so decided to stop for refreshments and to visit some of the unique independent stores nearby. The bridge itself is a sight to behold and there’s lots of lovely angles for pictures.

Beautiful place, lots to see, nice touristy shops and restaurants. Good walks, (but a bit muddy after rain!) need to be fairly fit (although at 78 I managed a five mile walk and climb through the woods.

World renowned Heritage site that's also a great place to walk around. Plenty of places to eat and drink also public toilets free of charge which is important as you may have driven a distance . Plenty of car parks in the area not free , charged at £4 for over 3hrs (recommend).
Would definitely recommend.

Great family day out.
Lots to see, do and learn. The large number of knowledgeable staff playing different roles brought the place alive.
Definitely try the victorian school lesson!

Great place to spend the weekend. Lots to do with great historic museums locally. Lovely old town where you can walk around and enjoy the views, or go down the old railway path for a long walk. Nice ice cream shops, and coffee shops for a pit stop or the local ours and fish and Chips shop are great too. He sure to try out the porkpies!
