Rovaniemi, situated in the northern part of Finland, serves as the administrative center of Lapland. The city was extensively damaged during World War II but has since undergone reconstruction to become a modern metropolis. Rovaniemi is recognized for its association with Santa Claus and the Northern Lights, attracting tourists from all over the world. Arktikum is a scientific research institution and museum that specializes in exploring Arctic regions and Finnish Lapland's history.
A popular attraction in Lapland, the Arktikum science museum is home to a range of exhibits about Finnish Lapland and its culture. The biggest attraction is the Arctic Garden, a glass-domed building with great views of the Northern Lights.
Such a nice museum! You'll have plenty to see. The museum is full of old fashion interactive information, where kids will love to pull ropes, switch lights and so on.
It is a lot to read so it might take some hours.
You'll be able to learn about climate change and the future of the Arctic, the history of Finland and populations around Lapland, the Finnish wildlife.
Also, if you want to experience typical Finnish food, try the lounas at the café. Much better than the food served to tourists in town.

This is a great museum, presenting everything from history and culture to astronomy, geography and lifestyle in the Arctic Circle. The exhibition design is very professional, allowing visitors of all ages to have a lot of experience. I recommend visiting with children.

Great source of information about anything connected to the North and its nature. As a visitor, you will learn how the people used to live in the North, what kind of animals live there, how to explore the nature at the North Pole, and much more.
As the permanent exhibitions are huge, reserve few hours for this place, especially if you don't want to just walk through them in half an hour. But that would be really just walking through.
Staff working at the place is very nice. As the visitor, you can leave you backpack at the storage room that the staff has keys from.

Large museum on the history and culture of Lapland and the Arctic. The exhibition is fascinating. There is also something for children to experience. Visitors can borrow a free audio guide at the entrance. That's great! There are also free lockers for luggage and jackets. Food and drinks are available in the adjoining café. You should allow three to four hours to visit the museum. Unfortunately, the entrance fee is comparatively high.

Nice museum. Pretty small, a lot of interactive displays. The ticket price is a bit high in my opinion considering the size of the exhibitions. Overall, if you're in Rovaniemi, I recommend taking a look - even just for seeing the building itself, from inside and out.

It's a really nice experience here. Awareness to climate change and its effect on Artic flora and fauna.
We also learn about Sami people and their cultural foundation.
Overall there is a lot to see and explore, but depends on what you are interested in.
We had a museum card to enter but you can buy tickets at the counter. Friendly staff and guides with loads of information about the exhibition.
I recommend you visit this place.

I enjoyed my visit to this museum even though some of the reviews say it's geared towards children. It's perfect if you have a spare days in Rovaniemi and you've already done everything else. The exhibition's are surprisingly good so they must have invested a fair bit into it. A good balance of history and current events.

To visit for one time. The experience of
Northern Light at the middle of the museum is mind blowing. The information about Rovaniemi’s history is one of the interesting things it describes.

Beautiful exhibitions, lots of information about the arctic. Cafe with delicious food. Northern Lights & ice cave. I especially love the garden which changes with the seasons and is very well kept. When Northern Lights season is on, it's a great place to be 👍.

This is the signature museum in Rovaniemi with an interesting architecture and utilises natural lighting to illuminate the museum. It tells the story about Lapland and the Artic Circle, from science to history. The exhibits are also fun and informative.
I strongly recommend this to be part of your Lapland itinerary, as it helps you to understand the region as a whole.
There's also a cafe, gift shop, a garden and a forestry museum nearby, if you want to fully utilise your time here. Finding the exhibits was initially challenging though, as they were all behind huge doors.
Entrance is paid, of course, but there are free toilets here.

The Arktikum Science Museum in Rovaniemi is an exceptional destination for those intrigued by the Arctic region and its science. It's particularly captivating for children, as evidenced by an 8-year-old who had a fantastic time exploring its interactive exhibits. The museum offers a wealth of information on Arctic nature, culture, and history, presented in an engaging and educational manner. To truly absorb the rich experiences Arktikum provides, it's advisable to plan a visit lasting at least two to three hours. This duration allows visitors, both young and old, to immerse themselves fully in the wonders of the Arctic world that the museum vividly brings to life.
We didn't time to take any photos of the interactive part of the museum though 🤷🏼♀️

It’s a must visit place if you are in Rovaniemi to get to know the history of the city as well as saami culture. There are loads of interesting visuals inside regarding reindeers, arctic circle, climate etc. It takes about 3-4 hours to completely go through it all. You can get a culture pass and get access to two more additional museums.

Great exposition, great sceney, finally discovering the Finnish Culture and the Lapland.
You have seat all the way if you need to rest or waiting, there is a coffee shop straight on your right hand side when you enter the Museum; Gifts shop available and also for your clothes you have storages available. So no need to pack your clothes for the whole time you will be in the Museum.
I recommend taking your time to enjoy every little corner of the museum. Trust me it worth it

A huge and sprawling science centre with loads of fantastic exhibits. I especially loved the old fashioned stuffed animal dioramas. A great place to learn about the history of Lapland and the Sámi peoples. It also has a brilliant interactive climate change exhibition space.
All of the captions are in a variety of languages, including English. The English translations are a bit wonky but in a very appealing way. They read almost like poems with a lilting dream-like quality. They possibly revealed an aspect of the Finnish language itself. I found them very enjoyable to read
The building's very distinctive and very of it's time, the early '90s. It looks dated at the moment but in a few decades and generations will likely become a treasured example of that era's architectural style.
It is completely wheelchair accessible with disabled lavatories.

Siida is a modern museum located in Finland that offers an extensive insight into the Sami culture and Lapland's natural environment. The museum hosts state-of-the-art displays, including a comprehensive nature exhibition depicting northern Lapland's ecology throughout the year. It also features detailed information on the Sami people, from their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle to current times. Siida is regarded as one of Finland's most captivating museums and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about Sami history and heritage.
Built on lands where the earliest settlers in Northern Lapland lived 9000 years ago, Siida is a contemporary and recently refurbished national museum with exhibitions and interactive educational materials on Sámi culture and heritage. An outdoor museum is also open during summer to showcase the architecture and livelihood, as well as boats, sledges and hunting traps. Highly recommended to spend at least half a day here for the great opportunity to understand more about their unique way of life.

It really gives a good idea how living in this part of the world was. Too bad the inside part of the museum is being renovated, so only the outside was accessible.

We had an amazing guide at Siida who told us so many personal stories that really helped everyone relate and learn about the Sami people and their history. The museum has a great open air part as well as some wonderful interactive exhibits indoors as well. Highly recommend!

Wauw what an amazing museum. We loved everything. The videos were very special and the picrures on the walls were of such high quality that it felt like being in nature. It was nice that the museum showed both the historical aspect as a contemporary view on Sami live. Definitely a museum you do not want to miss.

Well-built museum about Saami Culture with beautiful photo expositions. Outside area is a great part of the museum!
Things in gift shop are bit overpriced, I just hope the money will at least help to preserve the Saami Culture.. However the overall experience was pretty amazing, we spent here much longer than we expected. English translations available everywhere.

Indigenous people always get hosed. We learned a ton about Sami history. An amazing museum.
Rebekah Perry — Google review
We really liked the museum. It was well designed and very informative. Had great information about the geological and biological development of the region. It also had great exhibits about the Sami people and culture. Being really interested in anthropology, I kind of missed a more detailed explanation of the migrations of people into the region. When did the Sami get there, where did they come from, when did the Indo-European and Finno-Ugric people arrive, etc.
The biggest disappointment was that we weren't able to see any of the outdoor exhibits because it was too icy. Damn global warming!
We spent about 2 hrs looking at and reading about the displays, but I felt like I could have easily spent twice as long. Unfortunately, it started getting pretty cramped with a lot of people, so we wound up leaving earlier than I would have wanted. Though I am glad that so many people came to read about Sami history.

One of the best museums I have ever visited! Indoor interactive section, with plenty of pictures, videos, captivating explanatory text, real Sámi items, a lot about nature and animals, and geopolitics, very well designed. Outdoor part is simple, which depicts the Sámi balance with nature, in beautiful settings and very authentic. Visited during very cold snowy days, beautiful and chilly experience.

If you want to learn something about Sami culture, this is the place! I recommend to reserve few hours of your time, as the place is quite big.
Unfortunately for me, the museum doesn't offer guided tours. But you can walk on your own through both inside and outside expositions, and read texts on information tables. Or you can use the audio guide on your phone that is available through QR codes.
Jana Krištanová — Google review
The SIIDA museum is worth a visit, despite the quite high entrance fee. The exhibition is high quality, there are touch-sensitive tablets everywhere and everything feels new and robust and isn’t worn out at all. The outdoor exhibition was my personal highlight, very much to see from bear traps to Sami tents to a whole Amphitheatre made of snow and ice. Really worth the entrance fee! The in-house restaurant is excellent and the self-service lunch was delicious! The restaurant is also certified gluten-free. We enjoyed our stay very much!

We thoroughly enjoyed a visit to this museum and wished we could have stayed longer ( we were there about 2.5 hours). The geological information is delivered in an accessible format, being neither too detailed nor lacking clarity. The outside part of the museum added a further dimension and it was good to see the cultural information with authentic artifacts. Sadly we ran out of time in the third gallery but we were very interested to learn about the native animals and birds and all of the exhibits were well presented and informative. This museum is a must if you are ever in the area of Inari.
If you're looking for a festive place to visit this Christmas, consider Santa Claus Office. The rustic setting and the charming characters can make any holiday feel special. You can also take beautiful photos without any crowds!
The Santa Claus Village is the best and major tourist spot in Lapland – Santa’s own hometown!
It is almost impossible not to cross the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi. The Arctic Circle runs through the Santa Claus Village, located eight kilometres north of the city centre, where it is clearly marked. Santa Claus Village in Lapland is a popular place to cross the Arctic Circle: here the line is marked, and you can even get a certificate confirming the feat. At that moment, I felt I was the luckiest man in the world.
We first stepped into the Santa Claus Office. The ambience was just fantastic and a real fairy-tale-like experience. We were ushered in by Santa’s hard-working and beautifully cute helpers, the elves. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw Santa seated inside on a wooden chair amidst a lot of gifts with his big fat belly resting on his lap! He is around 6.5F tall with a long real looking beard. He greeted us and gave us our seat. And had a little chit chat about the Xmas and arctic history. However, photos and videos are prohibited inside. For 45 Euros, we all got one photo each to cherish as a memoir for a lifetime.

This is where you can meet santa clause any day of the year. Unlike usual grottos that come up during christmas, his room here is well decorated and he is well dressed up to bring up that perfect christmas vibe.
Meeting santa claus is free. But you cannot take pictures or videos inside. Pictures and a video will be taken by the staff there and you have to purchase them. For the picture you have to pay EUR 35. For EUR 80 you can get one printed picture and link to download all pictures and the video.
However, unlike most of the pictures taken and sold at attractions, pictures here are taken by a professional using high end gear. Pictures are of superb quality. Printed photo is bigger than A4 size. It is sharp and has crisp colours. Given in a pocket that can be carried as a side bag.
Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm. It is located in Santa claus villege, rovaniemi which is about 3 km away from the airport and 9 km away from town centre.
Buses between town centre-santa claus villege-airport are operated by two bus companies. Buses are there every hour and they are reliable. But they dont run late. Last bus is at about 6.15 pm. Taxis are alao available. They charge EUR 30 to town centre. Bus fare to town centre is EUR 4 and to airport EUR 8.
You can even take Santa claus express night train to and from Helsinki which has upstair cabins with private shower and toilet. Regular seats are also available. This should be booked in advance at VR trsins website. Train has a good restaurant on board which operates till late night and from 4 am in the morning. Remember to check in at the station so that conductor will not disturb you to check tickets at the cabin.
Santa claus village has lot of activities such as rain deer sleigh rides, husky rides and snowmobile rides, nothern light tours, polar explorer tour, frozen waterfalls tour etc. There are more than one operator for raindeer, husky and snowmobiles. You need to have a valid driving lisence including class D to ride snowmobile. All rides are expensive.
You can see snow capped arctic forest.
Arctic circle which runs across the santa claus villege, is also marked here and you can cross it.
Santa clauses post office is also there where you can send a post card stamped here to anywhere.
There are some good accommodation options too, but expensive. There are many restaurants. Most of them close early like 5-6 pm. Restaurants that are open for dinner are expensive. Food here in general is expensive.
Remember to bring your layers and sun glasses.
You can get a live view of the central courtyard area via youtube through webcam fixed on one of the pillars marking the arctic circle.

A magical place if you visit during Christmas. It is for children but also for adults. You can find many gifts for your loved ones, send a letter from Santa Claus, see him and take a photo with him. The landscape is completely covered with snow. I highly recommend it.

nice place, of course its for tourists but you can spend a half day here exploring everything. All basics are free (Meeting Santa is to) but the photos come with a somewhat high price of 35/50€. To many low quality gift shops, I would wish for more authentic and handmade or locally produced goods.

Beautiful like in fairy tail place.
Details, music, lights and overall feeling is magical!
As we have been few times here during our stay. We recommend to come here in the morning or late afternoon (before closing time)
In this time you can take beautiful pictures without so many people.

I'm not a Christmas Person , I thought it was ok , but not "wow" like seeing Disneyland castle. Though I could see other people super excited, happy to see all the Christmas themed buildings , there is actually a lot you can see and do completely free of charge.
I did think that charging €35 Euro for 1 picture with Santa was a bit expensive but for someone else that could be a bargain and something they treasure for a very long time.
For kids it must be a magical place.
The "Artic Circle" was great, as was the "post office "
Lots of places where you can take pictures.
There were people from all over the world , just to name a few people I came across , Romanian, American, Chinese, Polish, Korean and Finnish of course :)

I recommend it 100%! Santa impressed our daughter (10) very much, by speaking our language (German) and by surprising her with her favorite gift (coincidence or the Christmas Magic)
The line was about 30 mins but definitely worth waiting.
The costs for the gift are 28€ the photographs taken there 45€ or the full package, photographs and video 70€ downloadable.

Was worth coming to see Santa Claus with kids. It was our second time but 10 years apart. Last time it was during summer, now during winter it felt really magic, full of snow, trees covered in snow as well... Love it!

Maybe it was because of visiting Santa Claus Village during May when it was very much out of the season, but I didn't meet Santa. When I was at the building, Santa was on his lunch break. And considering the whole atmosphere at the Village during summer, I didn't make the effort to wait for Santa to return from his lunch break and talk to him. Since there was no right setup, it would felt very cheesy to me.
Besides meet and greet place with Santa, there is also a giant souvenir shop inside of this place.
Jana Krištanová — Google review
Extremely expensive!
Obviously it's magic of Santa, Christmas etc, but expect pricey visit. 30€ for gift from Santa, 35€ for printed photo, 50€ for online download and 85€ for both option. Gift shop double prices than in Rovaniemi center for the same products.

Very poor atmosphere. It must to be centre of magic… but here is not. Now it’s looks like we come here to stay in line to make photo. No music, no Christmas lights… just dark interior. With this opportunities you can make magical place for everyone. But now it’s just place to make photo with man with beard.

The supposed main attraction of the Santa Claus Village, this is where they charge you an arm and a leg to print a photo of you with Santa. And nope, you are not allowed to use your own personal camera or whatever device you brought to take photos with Santa. Only official cameras are allowed.
Meeting Santa is free though, you have to give then that, and the Santa does give off Dumbledore vibes when you're talking to him. It's an experience that children would definitely enjoy, not so much adults. Unless you're still very much a child at heart and still believes in Santa.
We would have enjoyed our experience here more, even paid for the photo, if it's not for how insanely expensive the photo is. 50 euros! And it can go all the way up to hundreds of euros if you opt for the entire package, with digital photo and video included. They didn't even bother listing the price upfront and would only tell you when you ask them. A complete ripoff, we feel.
Still, it's still a rite of passage to visit this place if you're in Lapland, just don't have too high an expectation.

Beautiful bridge with history. The lights at the top is an historical reference to the lumberjacks of Rovaniemi. When they worked at winter season the had to see from far where was the bridge. The view from car is excellent at the two sides of Rovaniemi. Bridge also has a pedestrian road and bicycle road at any side and I think that this figure is like an old ship. At winter time the water of the river behind the bridge doesn't frozen

We booked it because of the reviews but sadly today elfs did not know anything special about the kids and in the bus they asked KIDS to fill up what they wish for Christmas:))) so there was really no surprise for them when Santa said what was their wish. Santa was very real looking, though. The age, the beard .... just wow. He gave hugs to kids... that amazed them. Thank you!
Elfs were fun and helpful🌟 really nice and energetic even though -28 outside.
I'm leaving 4 stars as I heard Santa in SCV does not seem more different than, let's say, irish Santa, so we booked the Secret Forest experience. For the price, I think they could squeeze a bit of "surprise" for kids to make it more special.
Overall, the forest is absolutely beautiful, the marshmallows, hot juice and ginger bread cookied are delicious.

The Rovaniemi Church is a renowned Protestant church situated in the heart of Rovaniemi, Lapland. Although it was founded in 1817, the current structure was built by architect Bertil Liljequist in 1950 after the original wooden building was destroyed during World War II. The church is capable of accommodating up to 850 people and houses an impressive 45-key organ made by Christensen Organ Factory.
Opening times do vary, but a beautiful church with an outside appearance and design giving it a much older period look than it actually is. Interior still very beautiful, but less period. Red lit cross on the top of the spire very unusual. Well worth a visit.

The course features two races of considerable length, providing ample opportunity for enjoyment. Clear instructions are provided, making it easy to navigate the course with functional karts. Fun. You get two 15min sessions with a break in-between to have a hot drink around the fire & then get back on the track in the opposite direction. Really easy to drive just using the accelerator and not using the break. There's a pedal adjustment to help anyone if their feet can't quite reach the pedals. It was an amazing experience in Lapland that one not to be missed. We were trained with video tutorials and given special shoes, helmets, suits, gloves and many other accessories. The cart car having 13 H/P engine and can speed up to 60km/h. It having speed and safety monitor and side of tracks are made of 2 feet tall tick snow wall. So the safety is promised.
The race was between four of us. The sensors fitted on both sides of the track mark the laps covered and time taken accurately. After 3 or 4 rounds, we got the hang of it. . It was getting dark soon, so first we posed for some photos then move to the race. The first lap was very difficult. But we learned the technique very fast. Drifting through the ice is very tricky and lots of fun. Also a few times we crashed each other and hit on the snow wall.

Great experience and totally worth a visit if in Levi. We booked the two 15min session which were on the same track but the second was reversed. You need to book in advance and there is a free bus from outside Zero Point. They serve some light refreshments in the go kart centre.

Awesome experience and excellent service.
The course was challenging and exhilarating. The adults and the kids all enjoyed it.
There were two races and both of a good length.
They provided gear from helmets to boots and everything in between.
We hope to be back soon!

Unfortunately, my experience at Icekarting Levi was not what I expected. Despite booking 1.5 hours of karting, we were only allowed to drive twice for 15 minutes each time, which was not clearly indicated beforehand. This was not only misleading but also disappointing for those who wanted to spend more time on the ice rink.
What was even worse was the attitude of the instructors at the ice rink. They were very grumpy and unfriendly, and one of them even started shouting at us over a small mistake we made. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and can ruin the experience for visitors.
As a result of this bad experience, I would not want to come back to Icekarting Levi. It is important that businesses are transparent about their services and that staff treat customers in a respectful manner. I recommend that other visitors spend their time and money elsewhere, where they can enjoy a pleasant and safe experience.

Great staff, great equipment, we had a great time racing on the ice!

Fantastic experience, smooth process when we arrived, great facilities & clothing supplied. Racing on the ice in the karts was amazing. Was encouraged to push as much as you want with power sliding round the corners a great experience.
30mins on track over 2 sessions, but felt longer. Nice warm by the fire with hot juice between sessions.
Would recommend to all when visiting Levi

Driving a kart on a slippery track is incredibly fun! I highly recommend paying this place a visit, especially since a free transfer from Levi center is offered.
When we came there, we were warmly welcomed, and girls who helped us with the gear were extremely friendly.
Overall, I can conclude this experience with a single phrase: "It was AWESOME!". Worth every cent.

Not perfectly managed at all. We wanted 10km Husky Safari with a baby and they just said we don’t have that available even thought they claimed working with all husky providers in the area.
So they told us to call to all providers on our own and figure out if we get what we wanted. So is that really so???
And yes surprisingly I managed to find perfect safari for us and our baby and there were places left even for Christmas rides. So thanks to me we got a perfect husky ride in the end but the tourist information office or staff didn’t do much service since even the phone numbers we got from them were wrong.

Best Service you could imagine. All Events are booked at the time slot we liked.
Also make the HuskyTour available at afternoon, at the same day.
And Ice Karting was some of the best Events we have ever make...

Luvattumaa Levi, located 7 km from the city center, is a serene and relaxing natural spa and sauna. It harnesses the crisp waters of the Lappish river for its hot and cold open-air baths, as well as its traditional saunas. Additionally, Luvattumaa boasts an exquisite ICE Gallery that's definitely worth every penny spent on it - both adults and children alike can enjoy it. The location is easily accessible via cross-country skiing trails.
Very cosy cafe, incredibly friendly staff and delicious food - big plus from gluten-free options! Highly recommended

Not great, went 2 years ago, it was fantastic, this year, absolute rubbish, go to the ice village near Ylläs, it's a million times better. This had the odd ice carving, most of the bedrooms were plain, we looked around in about 20 mins and we took our time, save your money and go elsewhere, same price, tons better. Also, they don't recognise disabled access and my carer had to pay, everywhere else, my carer went free, even for skiing. Avoid this place!
christine govier — Google review
Very poor communication from staff, was told it was open by a flyer from tourist info but having paid 40euro entry fee it was only the ice bar & chapel open, of note not even with staff to serve a drink! None of the rooms nor the kids area to view as still being constructed. Such a shame as holiday was wonderful in Lapland until this point but would never have paid if they had advertised it as barely starting construction! Likely to be wonderful when finished but now a parent of an upset child & no time to do anything else before our flights home. For anyone hoping to go when we complained (not even receiving an apology) it apparently actually opens (completed?) 1st January.

Urho Kekkonen National Park, located in the arctic fell region, is renowned for its stunning Northern Lights and association with Santa Claus. Visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing by renting gear from the entrance rental shop. The park's Tankavaara entrance offers great starting points for short day hikes that showcase local war history and provide information about surrounding nature. Hikers can also take advantage of picturesque views from Pikku Tankavaara during the Kuukkeli walk.
Spectacular place. It's a must for all hikers, regardles of the time of the year.

This was my first hiking experience in a long while. The scenery kept changing throughout our 7 day trip and that was the highlight for me. I didn't look at the map a whole lot so every time we took a trail, there was always something new to discover.
This was a great place to find quietness and peace, and the people we came across shared that same energy.
I would suggest visiting it one month earlier, the weather is likely to be more stable and warm. Though I've heard that there are a lot more people at that time.
The wilderness huts were well equipped and they serve a traveller that likes comfort. The mice do enjoy them as well, so always hang your food sources when entering those.
I would suggest taking Luirojärvi as a goal for the trip. It's the heart of the park for wanderers. A lot of people recommended visiting Sokosti on a clear weather, it's nearby. There is also possibility for sauna and ice cold swimming.
I'll be recommending the park to everyone I know who likes to hike a little longer and enjoy silence. I'll be coming back here myself for sure!

Pielpajärvi Wilderness Church is a centuries-old landmark in Inari, known for its stunning beauty both inside and out. The church has been a gathering place for inhabitants during cold winters and is one of the oldest constructions in Northern Lapland, dating back to 1760. While it now functions for special services like Easter and Midsummer, visitors can still appreciate its historical significance by making a small donation towards its upkeep.
Such a wonderfull abandoned church in top of a hill in middle of the woods.
Old about 300 years, many story's are around it, about a century ago a women had be slaughter, if you are walking by night there you could see her walking trying to scream. And the second historical fact was during the second great war where this church was a defense point where it had a gatling on top of its church !

Beautiful church completely made out of wood! The trail leading to the church and camping area ist easy, yet I’d recommend sturdy shoes even though it’s also easily doable wearing sneakers.
The lake and facilities such as toilets, benches, and a hut with a fireplace and in a great shape! Definitely do this hike when you’re in the area.

What a beautiful hike! One hour walk, without stopping and a big backpack (experienced runner). Heard that the church is not always open, but just go for it. The outside is stunning and if you have the change, talk to the shepherd, he knows a lot about the area. Go there with sun, you get nice pics...

Beautiful hike through ancient wilderness with ponds and marshes. The hike itself is easy but takes time because of the rocks and stumps. Carefully pick your season for this hike. Children and dogs can come along if they are used to these kind of hikes. Day cabin and fire pit just before the church. Church itself is of historic value and in very good shape.
BB UpNorth — Google review
We reached the church with a very nice and easy trek
Mattia Genolini — Google review
Lovely landscapes and nature on the route and an unique church. Paths are semi-demanding with a lots of rocks and tree roots.
If you are doing one to two days hike near Inari and choosing between this and the dull and quite boring Lemmenjoki national park's routes choose this.
Jukka Lampinen — Google review
As completely areligious person it's probably the only church I visited twice of my own free will ;) I recommend not only for the object itself but also for 5km long stroll leading to it through stone-marked forest at the Inarijärvi wilderness.

A must see in Inari. It’s pretty easy to reach by a well marked 5 Kilometer walk and once you’re there you can marvel at the church and have a break at a campfire in the small hut there or at the outside fireplace.
Lapland Hotels Snow Village is a unique tourist attraction in Kirovsk that boasts imaginative lodging options. Visitors are treated to stunning ice sculptures and themed displays meticulously carved into walls by talented ice sculptors from the region. The Snow Village's attractions include a giant banana ride attached to a snowmobile and an Ice Chapel, which offers couples the chance to exchange vows in a truly enchanting setting.
After a 30 minute drive from Levi. We were reaching close to the Lapland Snow village. After we turned from the main road as per our one and only google aunty's instruction. Actually, we were a bit confused as the road does not seem to be a normal road and we doubted that we are driving through the actual road or not. The way google map was showing is a dark snow-covered path between a pine forest. After a few hundreds of meters, we saw some lights and found the actual road to the Lapland snow village. Also, we are too happy to experience that snow road adventure drive. Snow Village is a Chapter of Lapland ice Hotels group. It's built up only in the wintertime. There is an amazing video showing the construction of the ice hotel. The temperature outside was around only -25. So we couldn't stay further exposed. We took some quick snaps in front of the welcome wall and got inside. The building is completely made by ice except for the reception area. To enter inside the snow park we need to purchase a 15 EUR admission ticket. On the left side of the entry, you could witness one of Lapland's amazing experiences - The Ice restaurant. But the minimum expenditure to enter is 75EUR. But when we had a look from outside, we didn't its that worth visiting. So we just skipped and proceeded to the real ICE world.
When we stepped inside the door it looked exceptionally magical. At first, we see an ice corridor coloured with pink lights and shining ice crystals. The reflection of lights through the ice and the silence inside peeped us to another world. The temperature inside was around -2 to -5. And we dressed up for -25 because of the outdoor activity. So after a few steps inside here, we started feeling hot… yes.. Really… inside the ice room, actually, we were feeling hot. After we pass through the corridor, there are plenty of rooms. A theatre to show the construction of the snow village and ice hotel. A chapel for peaceful pray. And some chat rooms. But the wonder is, each and everything on those rooms is made by crystal clear ice. The sitting bench. The tables, shelves, status each and everything made by ice. And each year they are constructing on a different design. So, each year the visitors will see something different After watching all this, we entered the centre. Each junction inside the building is connected with colourful ice corridors. And at the centre, the most amazing experience… THE ICE BAR. The ice bar is completely made of ice. Completely means from the sitting chair to the drinking glass. Everything is made using crystal clear ice. And they have some special arctic drink. we decided to try something from there. Something unique. Yes, the drink only available in Lapland region. Called Lplandia” its a fine vodka for cold temperature mixed with different flowers. we choose to try a shot from the Blueberry Laplandia vodka. The short glass also carved from ice in front of us and we really enjoyed the hotshot. Next to the ice bar, the is a huge sculpture of "Game of Thrones" made in the ice. And from there onwards, there are many bedrooms made using ice blocks. Yes.. only the mattress and pillows are made using wool. Everything else is made by ice and decorated using colourful lights gives a really romantic atmosphere. And each bedroom is decorated with different kinds of sculptures. I felt like, this place is a photographers paradise.

Awesome experience. Love the two type of the art one north mythology and one Finish. Rooms and art work looked so cool. Loved the touch of ice bar and drinks in ice glasses. Visiting here was really cool, especially for someone like me who comes from a tropical island. The talent and art was stunning and just the whole idea of them coming up with themes and finding artist from around the world to bring it all together is just fantastic. This year’s theme was the Nordic Mythology and we had so much fun on the ice slide. We also had lunch in the ice restaurant and I enjoyed the soup.

Beautiful Ice Artwork! Every year another theme and every room looks different. Must have is a shot in an ice glass in the ice bar

Fantastic place, we had a quick tour around explaining how they build it and why they can use snow from the sky and how they make it by pumping it up from the local river and spraying it in the air to freeze and then harvest it. Every year it melts down and last November they started building and had most of it done in a month. Slide was the best part .

Very nice built hotel and rooms . You can sleep overnight, around 200eur for one night. We didn't do that. There are around 12 rooms, looks nice. Seems to be extremely quite there at night. You have an ice bar with ice drinks from ice glasses. Every room had it's own theme. Also Amsterdam! There was also a Northern light watch but unfortunately we didn't see that due to some clouds. Nice to visit this when you're in the neighborhood!

Amazing experience. Drove here from Levi in the middle of winter and it was still a great, beautiful drive.
We ate at the Ice restaurant which was an experience in itself, but the ice sculptures in the ice village is amazing. Every room deserved a picture and it was once in a life time experience.
Make sure to dress VERY warmly though. It gets cold being in there while.

We loved this place, it was so magical. Sledge ride to see Father Christmas, Saw the Reindeer, Sledge ride being pulled by Huskys, a go on a snow mobile , went in the huge igloo place to look at all the sculptures and went on the ice slide and had a drink in the ice bar. Went on sledges down a slope. Amazing place

I've always wanted to stay in an ice hotel, and this did not disappoint. There are some things that are a little bizarre, but it's as much of an experience as it is accommodations. For instance, the bathrooms and shower are separate and community style, and there are no doors for the rooms but an ice entrance. There are no electrical outlets inside the rooms, but there are lockers and plugs in a "warm room," which is a small cabin where bathrooms are also located.
Marissa Mejia — Google review
Very good. Awesome ice hotel. This year's theme is Nordic legend so far there's Thor's hammer made of ice. Hotel is still being built but the ice sculptures inside are amazing. Bar prices are not cheap but then you'd expect them not to be with the amount of work that's gone in to build the hotel.

Amazing place, this was part of my holiday package,I'd happily come back, lots to do from walking around the snow village to husky rides to snowmobiling to enjoying a drink in the ice bar and to top it off, meet the main man (SANTA) himself by taking a sleigh ride through the forest, simply magical

Icebreaker Sampo is a company that offers guided tours and Arctic cruises aboard a massive vessel from the 1960s. My sister and I thought this was a great experience! It was pricey, but it included lunch, transport, a tour of the icebreaker, and a dip in the frozen waters while wearing a survival suit. We chose an afternoon tour and got very lucky with a beautiful sunset. Boris was our tour guide and he was very nice and knowledgeable.

I really thought it is going to be a ripp-off with that price BUT there are so many crewmembers who have to drive, prepare, watch the icebreakter and there are many people just there for you. Like helping in the suit, making photos of you (still smiling, I would be annoyed after one week, but they still make you feel welcome). That was such an awesome crew, never had such nice people on a tourist trip. Thanks so much, worth every euro. And the experience itself, I had to cry as I watched the endless ice. So beautiful but so in danger due to climate change. i am very grateful that I could see that in my life. Thanks!

Very bad experience with Icebreaker Sampo. We had a paid reservation for a cruise on April 1st. And we organized our trip in Lapland to be in Kemi that day, dedicating a day for the cruise and the Kemi ice castle, which made us incur additional costs (hotel, extra day car rental...). But the company decided to cancel the cruise, claiming that it did not have enough clients for that day and proposed us to bring the cruise up one day, which was impossible for us due to the travel schedule. Although we got our money back (of course!) we were terribly upset, we incurred unnecessary expenses and, above all, we lost a day of vacation: both the Kemi ice castle and SnowExperience365 are a complete joke... they are not worth it absolutely nothing. In short, we strongly discourage booking this cruise in advance; this is intended for tour operator or group reservations. A single couple is left at the mercy of a cancellation policy that may be legal in Finland but is certainly totally immoral.

It's fun and special but it's really touristy and too expensive for what it actually is. The icebreaker "brakes" the ice that has already been broken a thousand times so it doesn't really break the ice anymore. The crew and guides are super friendly and explain well.

Saana fell is a mountain peak situated in Kilpisjarvi that was once considered sacred by the Sami people. It boasts of stunning views and a hiking trail to the summit. The mountain has an unmistakable profile, making it noticeable from afar. Saana fell attracts thousands of visitors annually who hike up to admire the views over three countries.
I had the opportunity to hike along the Finnish-Norwegian border to Saana, a sacred mountain for the Sámi people. The ascent took about an hour and a half, and it rewarded me with breathtaking panoramic views in every direction. On sunny days, the trail is quite popular, so be prepared for crowds. However, it's essential not to underestimate the distance, as there are no huts or restrooms along the way, not even at the parking area.

With it's distinctive profile is Saana fell the first thing you see when arriving to Kilpisjärvi from the south. This ancient place of worship for the Sami people hold's a certain magic still today and every year thousands will hike on top of Saana to admire the views over three countries. The easiest way up to the mountain is to follow a marked trail that starts from Kilpisjärvi Camping & Holiday village. Altogether the hike will take you 3 to 5 hours with breaks and loads of photographs. The trail is walkable all year around, sometimes snowshoes might come in handy. Remember to dress warmly, it's usually always cold & windy on the top!

Free parking and visitor centre with limited free info on local trails and routes. Maps are paid for (€10) but most shorter trails are well marked and signposted so not really necessary unless you’re doing a longer route.

Great hiking route through several fjelds. Not very demanding but have to remind that it is mountain route after all.
The Amethyst Mine - Pyhä Luosto, situated in the Finnish Lapland, offers year-round tours that provide visitors with a chance to learn about the history of amethysts and traditional mining methods. This unique tourist attraction boasts the only active amethyst mine in Europe, formed over 2 billion years ago. Visitors can dig for their own precious stones inside the mine and explore its wonders. The company operates responsibly, avoiding damage to nature by not using heavy machinery in its operations.
Amazing experience. Me and my husband really loved it, it was something very different and the views from the top are outstanding. Lots of fun digging and nice to have some keepsakes to take home, some of which I would like made into jewellery.

Very worthwhile and great to visit this special mine with scenic surroundings.
The tour is excellent and there is time for you to try to mine your own amethyst which is a real treat.

The tour is a great experience we all enjoyed. Just the journey to the mine is great in the beautiful snow. The staff are very friendly and Pascal gave us a funny and great talk before the digging part of tour. We took a few little treasures home, definitely recommend a visit to
the mine.

Beautiful place and very good explanation of the minerals
Very good guide 😀
Also that you can do some smal digging 😀
The area around was nice, the rooms are 👍

Giant scam. Tour is supposedly 2 hours. You get less than half hour in the mine digging with a little piece of rebar. Might find a a fingernail size piece of quartz. Rest of time is spent in cafe or gift shop.
Andre Chezik — Google review
Kind and funny French guy gave us the tour. Price is to high. Really disappointing is that you may keep from the amethysts only one and that one has to fit into your closed HAND!!
The others they keep so that you work for them in case you find any bigger pieces.
For the mining we had 20 minutes in a field of maybe 250 square meters where visitors search for amethyst for years.
At the end we found 6 tiny and one small stone :-(. But our guide gave us a little bigger one as present ...

Visiting the amethyst mine is definitely fun. The tour was interesting and interactive, very recommended. Thank you, Pascal & Amethyst Mine Team :)

Im glad i didn’t miss this experience! Because of some reviews I didn’t have high expectations but I highly enjoyed the trip with the pendolino uphill through the snow, the information our lovely guide provided, and the (quite competitive) digging for your own gem in the mine. I actually found some nice examples! Would definitely like to come back some other season.

Really unique place to visit. Digging in to the dirt for finding your own jewelry was nice experience for both adults and children. All of us found more amethysts than we were allowed to take with us. Really good that the place isn't being mined with heavy machinery and there is not much damage to the nature.

Great visit An excellent talk by a knowledgeable and informative guide made the walk in on quite a miserable day well worth it (our visit was in early June). My wife particularly enjoyed searching for her own Amethyst which you are allowed to keep. An added bonus is the lovely cafe which served very tasty coffee and doughnuts!

Salla Ski Resort, located in the Finnish Lapland, offers 15 pistes and 6 lifts, including a snowpark and a leg-burning 1.3 km long run. The resort is family-friendly with gentle slopes for beginners to learn skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities such as tobogganing, husky safaris, and visits to reindeer farms.
Love it here. The people here are friendly and helpful.
The views and landscapes are absolutely stunning. The skiing and snowboarding is great for beginners and intermediates.
All the trips we went on were fantastic and all the guides were great. The view from the top of the Snowmobile trip is out of this world! Oh and the ice bar is definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic skiing location in eastern Lapland. Enough slopes for the whole family to enjoy a week of skiing and snowboarding.
Lots of easy backcountry stuff for the more adventurous skiier and nice profiles on slopes. Never crowded which means you get to send it from sun ip to sun down.
Only drawbacks are lack of more services so you’re stuck with only one restaurant which has room for improvement and there’s only anchor lifts so get your legs in shape before coming here😅
Second time here and we still like it a lot
Vesa Hänninen — Google review
Being the first time in Salla we were really positively impressed. Ski tracks and trails were excellent. Only minus is for the people walking on ski tracks eventhough it is totally forbidden. Salla, in the middle of now- and snowwhere is worth going. Surprisingly close to Oulanka, Riisitunturi and Ruka.

Having heard of the good bike routes in Salla, we decided to rent regular fatbikes and headed for the Kaunisharjun kierros (about 15 km) as per the nice shopkeeper's advice. The route turned out to be a great mix of easier and challenging terrain with some duckboards and steep climbs and downhills along the way. There were also some absolutely beautiful spots and sceneries on the way. We finished the route in around three hours and had plenty of time for breaks on the way as well.
All in all, we had great fun and I recommend renting fatbikes here and taking the Kaunisharju route. Be warned, though, that there are swarms of mosquitoes and horseflies at some places along the route.

Salla is an isolated resort approximately 100km north into the arctic circle.
The rolling hills, evergreens and potential to see the aurora borealis makes this a stunning backdrop for your travells.
The skiing here is good for youngsters or beginners as the runs are very limited and not particularly challenging.
That said, we travelled here in February and practicly had the slopes to ourselves.
Be cautious, the piste turned to solid ice when the sun is out and made the skiing not particularly enjoyable.
Obviously due to the location, there is a good amout of Nordic track which is maintained and marked out really well.
Ski hire is reasonably priced and well stocked.
There is a restaurant on site which has a beautiful look & feel to it, however the food was regrettably average and over priced.
We had a great time here and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience the wilderness of Finland.

We rented two efatbikes from here today (for six hours). We got excellent service from the booking till return (5/5)! Efatbike rental is definitely a great way to explore the nature of Salla. On our 50km trip we encountered reindeers, experienced the small canyon of salmijoen kuru and saw many amazing views. Highly recommended!

Great place to learn with pleasant slopes short to no queuing, the ski hire team were fabulous and knowledgeable the shop staff were helpful and supportive, the ski instructor we had was fantastic too. Drawbacks, short runs only T bar lifts, but wow! The scenery and opportunity to whitnes the northern lights, breathtaking, plus all the Finnish people we ever met were so nice! Thanks Salla

Fantastic place to stay, with so much to do if you want a break from the slopes too. Kelorinne log cabins are a must for accomodation.

02.12.2023-10.12.2023.Connection on top of Ylläs to Ylläsjärvi was closed/not available. In Ylläs there were 1 piste open from the top. There is 20min drive to Ylläsjärvi where there were 2 pistes open from the top. Some short and very easy blue pistes were open in both places. Explanation to the situation was that the season was at the beginning. This should also be seen in ticket prices. There were quite alot of visitors in Ylläs/Ylläsjärvi and I believe that I wasn't the only one who was a bit upset. Also it was quite awkward that the snow cannons were on during the opening hours altough there were already snow fall and quite bad visibility.

It has good slopes but I think they should focus more on the park freestyle rails an ramps.

It's taken me quite a while to write this review but I just need to say that Ylläs as a destination base to meet Santa and to do other snow related activities is just brilliant - especially if you like being away from the hotel crowd. We stayed in a lodge on the edge of town and it was fantastic. The people are utterly brilliant and our 4 day break is our daughter's favourite holiday, ever.

Lots of snow and well groomed pistes. Gondola takes you to the top with lots of long runs. Also a good chair lift that takes you half way with nice blue runs. Lots of button and t bars which are a pain. We had lots of foggy days which are common in early January which spoilt the skiing. Pistes are lit which enables skiing at this time of the year as it is only light for four hours. Saw the aurora borealis which was a plus. Due to the time of year wasn't crowded and accommodation cheap.
The Pilke Science Museum is a kid-friendly science center that features hands-on displays about sustainable forestry and wood products. The museum is located in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finland, and is affiliated with the Finnish Forest and Park Service.
Educational museum in Rovaniemi! It is all about wood- forests, paper, equipment! You can take part in different workshops, sit in harvester, play games. It is located close to Arktikum.

It is a single-story museum (it takes one to two hours) more than a museum, it is a science site about forests, deforestation and the environment. Very cool to go with children, many interactive activities and some with several languages. It's all very entertaining, it's a shame it's small. We bought the family ticket (2 adults and two children) for €55, which is good for the 3 museums in the city.

We loved it here, there's plenty for children to see and do. Our one year old son loved playing in the forestry machine (lots of buttons) and watching the rock tumblers. There was plenty to learn for older children too. The exhibits are all on the ground floor but the entrance is upstairs due to being on a hill but there is a lift. We had such a great time we went back again another day.

Awesome museum for both kids and adults. It has an interactive exhibition about forests, how timber is collected, processed, and recycled. There are games to play, buttons to push, wooden towers to build and some cool pieces of equipment which you may climb on.
P.s. it makes sense to buy a joint museum pass for 25 Eur, so you may visit Pilke, Arktikum and Art museum in Rovaniemi with the same ticket. It's valid for a week.

Fun interactive museum! We went as 2 adults (no children) with the culture pass. Otherwise, you can buy tickets ahead, but it's not necessary.
There's a coat rack and a free locker area in addition to a lovely gift shop. Our only drawback was a few displays were not operational.
An in-depth look at the history, current application, and environmental impact of the logging industry. Contrary to some reviews, we found it a fun experience as an adult and a nice way to pass a few hours (especially if the weather is extra cold/damp). It is small, but you really learn a lot, and digital displays have multiple language options.
The center is tons of play displays for smaller children, including trucks, building logs, etc.

La tienda es pequeña pero puedes encontrar bonitos detalles y tienen café barato y decente

Took our 4 year old grandson, mainly because he'd been before and loved it but also it was cold and we had 5 hours from a hotel check out and train. Very interactive, he loved being able to climb inside the equipment. He would have spent a full day going back and forwards between stuff. Cheap to go into aswell and we went next door to the museum and got a buffet lunch with a coffee for 15 euros each and were full rest of day

5 stars is NOT enough to evaluate this magnificent, absolutely unique and very clever child and adult interactive science and play facility. Your child will not want to go away from it! It's a great shame that this centre is not known as widely as the Santa's village is. In many ways it exceeds the later. Highly, highly recommended!!!

The SnowCastle of Kemi is a unique and enchanting seafront hotel made entirely out of ice and snow. Originally built in 1996 as a Unicef project, it is now a popular winter destination for weddings, honeymoons, and admiring the ethereal light and lavishly decorated interior. The design changes each year but always includes a chapel, hotel, ice bar, and restaurant.
We made a quick stop to check out the castle. It was very unique and scenic. The interior was completely made of ice which is something we had never seen before and it's free of charge for entry. Played a bit of ice hockey outside and took turns on the rotating sled as well. Overall, a fun experience which I could recommend.
Nilusha Jayawickrama — Google review
Nice snow statues with two different spaces, one available all year and the other one just in winter.
A nice small sledge is also available beside the winter castle the sea right beside can also be a nice thing to "visit" by walking or by taking a cruise
Ivan — Google review
It's a wooden castle, not a snowcastle. Compared to the real snowcastle which took place every year in Kemi harbor, this is a mockery towards that. The real castle was made entirely out of snow & ice! It was stunning and everyone was amazed! But this, nothing but a waste of money. There's just a big warehouse type of room and some ice sculptures, but the vibe is off completely. As I live here, I say we didn't want this. No one wanted a wooden castle instead of the original snowcastle. But, the big guys with cigars in their mouths decided this would make more money. Well, it doesn't, and never ever will replace the real deal. It's doomed. No tourist wants to see modern hell, they come to see the culture, the originality of Kemi snowcastle, the ancient times.. they want to see the old times and culture, not modern hell

Previous years the snow castle was more impressive. It may be due to covid that this year's castle is a bit smaller. The art on the inside is impressive nevertheless. There is no entrance fee either.

Nice hotel room/ villa with good view, but there was not much to do. Only a couple of ice sculptures to look at, the ice bar was closed and the ice labyrinth is more of a child activity. We visited in march, so it was kind of off-season.

There is no snow castle anymore.
A small Ice hall with carvings and twi sldes.
Great to walk through 20 minutes.
But to pay for this for 2 adults an 2 kids 50€ was to much.
The pictures in the Internet are showing not the current situation.
For us it was not worth visiting that spot.

Apart from the view and the uniquely located villa by the sea nothing to harp. Hotel staff welcoming was below average. No one was at the desk on Sunday, the reception was closed. Therefore they left the breakfast in the villa.

Chinese tourist trap. We were told by very friendly staff that castle wasn't build this year due to absence of Chinese tourist. So there was one small room available only with few statues, where you could spend 10 minutes and that's it. Don't pay 10€ for it, it's not worth it. This whole place is build for Chinese and has nothing to offer, but for staff I give one more star and snowy magical atmosphere around one more. So 3 not well deserved stars for me

A bit disappointed! I was waiting for the wow effects from the experience of luxury in 2016 of the outdoor ice castle 😅!This year 2023 there is no castle outdoor, small labyrinth and ice slides for free to visit.
Indoor snow experience costs a fee and it is possible to bring for instance hot cacao to drink there. There are several ice sculptures with led lights and an ice slide which my 5 year old love very much.
My friend visited the ice castle in Lapland which is better this year...

We expected more from the biggest ice castle in the world, even in summer. We have been to the one next to kiruna 3 years ago and it was amazing even in summer. But this one was just a garage with a less than 10 ice sculptures and a slide. Nothing to do around. Not worth it

ok, but thats it - a but to expensive for a few mins of entertainment, we just watched the ice sculptures (€50 for 4 adults and a 5 year old kid) - 10 mins of watching, the outside area was not ready yet but still full price :/

It is a nice place to be for a while, but when we came, it wasn’t completely done yet I think.
The castle itself is great to see. It was an icehockey area, small maze, 2 slides. We used the slide and it was amazing.
Parking is free as far as we saw and the area is clear and clean. Very easy to find!

The staff is friendly and helpful, no doubt about that. But the entrance fee for the snow castle and snow world is simply to pricey in my opinion. The prices in the restaurant on the upper floor seemed reasonable to mee.
Patrick Bareiter — Google review
A great disappointment. Driving 500 km to get there, the snow castle was only a "snow corridor":( I asked in the reception if they are not ready with the construction, they said it is ready like this and this is the new concept😏 This is not worth the 18€ entrance fee, because the inner ice room is also small. Do not travel there from a big distance because it is not worth it. Such a pity for the beautiful town of Kemi!:(
Lucia Pavlovics — Google review
The building includes a restaurant, a café, bathrooms, and souvenir shops, in addition to a castle snow 365 experienc. The experience is beautiful; everything there is made of snow, and you can try the ice slide. However, I find the price exaggerated as the ticket is 18 euros, usually covering the snow experience and snow garden. Despite the snow garden being closed, and we only saw the small snow castle, they charged the full ticket price. I believe there should be a discount when the service or the offer is not complete. Besides that, the staff is courteous and friendly.
Samah — Google review
There no longer is a snow castle :( There only is a big freezer room with a fun slide an some ice sculptures. Outside are some snow walls, a tunnel of snow and a few snow games....good for 10min of fun. Really not worth to pay for. They should have kept the original outside snow castle. And yeah, you can't visit a real snow castle all year round. But it is an SNOW castle, it is ment to only exist during winter.
Elke Renard — Google review
The snow castle ticket is a bit pricey when it is for a much smaller indoor area compare to in the past that included the outdoor of the castle as well. Otherwise my kids like the ice slide indoor and the free activities outdoor.

If you want to learn something about Sami culture, I strongly recommend to visit the place. There should be guided tours at 11 AM that costs 8 Euro per person.
On the day when I and my boyfriend were visiting the place, the tour was not supposed to happen. After some discussion, the lady working at the information desk that guides the tour was nice enough to make us a shorter version of the tour, just because we wanted to learn something about Sami culture. I really appreciate this forthcoming step and big thanks for being so nice to us!
On the tour, you will learn about the language, the traditional way of living, the current situation and position of Sami people in Finland, and much more.
It might be a bit tricky to park at Sajos, since it's not clear at the first sight which places are reserved for people working at the center, and which places are for visitors. But with some circling around, you will get it.
