The Norwegian Aviation Museum is a well-organized and fascinating museum that celebrates aviation of all types, including military and civilian. The displays are interactive and feature exhibits in multiple languages. Visitors can spend hours exploring both the military and civil sections, which focus on airplanes and aviation history in general. In addition to interesting exhibitions, the museum also has a restoration workshop for vintage aircraft. Overall, this cool museum is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Bodo.
You can spend hours here. Lots to learn and see. They have both a military section aswell as a civil section. Both sections focus on airplanes and aviation in general. You must go here if you are in Bodø.

I recently visited the aviation museum in Bodø and was blown away by the sheer number of planes and displays on offer. The military section of the museum was particularly interesting, with several rooms filled with real planes that have played a significant role in the history of Norwegian aviation. There were also plenty of displays showcasing plane engines and other aircraft components, along with informative explanations about how they work.
The civil aviation section of the museum was equally impressive, with a wide variety of planes on display ranging from small private planes to larger commercial airliners. There were also several interactive exhibits that provided a deeper understanding of the science behind flight.
While the museum was a bit pricey, I found it to be well worth the cost. The 2-3 hour tour gave me plenty of time to explore all the exhibits and learn more about the rich history of aviation in Norway. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the aviation museum in Bodø for anyone with an interest in planes and aviation.

Visiting the Aviation Museum in Bodø became an unforgettable experience, filled with knowledge enrichment. The museum astonishes with its scale and diversity of exhibits. Walking through the spacious halls, you find yourself surrounded by a vast number of airplanes and aviation technology, each telling its own unique story.
The museum displays aircraft from different eras, starting from the first aviation pioneers to modern military and civilian aircraft. The level of preservation of many exhibits is particularly impressive, allowing one to understand and appreciate the technical achievements of different times.
The museum also offers unique opportunities for learning and entertainment, including simulated flights and educational programs. This makes it an ideal place for family leisure, where both children and adults can find something interesting and informative.
The Aviation Museum in Bodø is undoubtedly a place worth visiting. It offers an extensive collection that amazes with its scale and diversity, and provides deep knowledge about the world of aviation. It's a place where history meets modernity, creating a unique and inspiring adventure for curious minds of all ages.

The museum offers a big collection of aviation history, I was really surprised to find such a gem here!
Sadly they did some work on the public aviation part so we couldn't see much of that, but we wouldn't have had time anyway since the military part had us occupied until they closed.
We were there for about three hours and we couldn't see everything we wanted so I'd suggest getting there early enough.
One big plus which I didn't see in many other museums is that you can touch many of the pieces at display, which in my opinion adds a lot to the experience.

From an American point of view I thought this was an excellent museum. Clean, open, many of the exhibits were in several languages. It will take about 2 hours to see it thoroughly. From an aviation enthusiast point of view it was great to see that all aviation was celebrated and not just the Norwegian history, though that was obviously emphasized. Great history, cool museum. The control tower was fun too.

Excellent museum! I was so surprised to find this amazing museum during a short stay here. As an aviation professional I always seek out aviation museums but I had no idea this one was here and it was SO well done. Great history of aviation in Norway both civil and military. Mjelle is a scenic beach located about 15 km north of Bodo, towards Kjerringoy. The area is famous for its red granade stones scattered in the sand, which adds to its unique beauty. Despite being highly visited, it remains pristine and untouched, making it a bit of tamed wilderness worth seeing. While there are no facilities available at the beach, visitors can bring their supplies for the day and enjoy the peacefulness of this remote location.
First time experience "Midnight sun" here.... MAGICAL hours ☀️🌞🌅🇧🇻♥️

It's not surprising that this beach is featured in songs and literature from the area. It is highly visited but still pristine. A bit off the beaten track for visitors to Bodø, but this is a bit of tamed wilderness worth seeing. This is fantastic remote beach Mjelle about 15 km out north of Bodø towards Kjerringøy. It's not really red but in parts it has a lot of small red granade stones in the sand. The beach has no facilities at all, so I needed to bring my suppleres for the day. Anyone can find nudity occurs here. However, there is normally more than enough space so no-one won't be bothered by other people. We need to find a spot and enjoy our day and maybe the night to see the midnight sun over Lofoten Islands.

In the accompanying photo below, the Northern Lights combine with the sunset to present an opportunity for a staggeringly beautiful landscape photograph. The beach at Mjelle, is nestled along the shoreline of one of Norway’s Lofoten Islands, all of which offer among the most picturesque vantage points in the world from which to observe “The Lights” between the months of September and April.
Saltstraumen is a narrow channel situated in the Bodø municipality of Nordland county, Norway. It boasts one of the most robust tidal currents globally and can be found approximately 10 kilometres towards the southeast of Bodø town.
The Bodø Cathedral is situated on an elevated position in the town and boasts of a unique modern architecture with a striking bell tower at the front. The interior of the cathedral is adorned with beautiful stained glass and illuminated by plenty of lights, creating a serene atmosphere. A spacious area accommodates an impressive organ and playground for children. The cathedral attracts numerous visitors during services, featuring 12 bells that ring every hour.
Huge cathedral in a modern and really particular style, might not suit everyone's taste but it's a must see in the tiny town of Bodø.

An unexpected gem inside when the outside looks rather cold, uninspiring and somewhat brutal. (Apart from the tower) . Inside its simple but beautifully decorated. The ceiling gives the impression of being in the upside down Hull of ship. It was truly wonderful. A couple of points of note, Entry is free, and there are also toilets inside.
kevin mills — Google review
This Cathedral is quite surprising for a relatively small town like Bodo. It is well worth visiting, with a modernist appearance outside and a more traditional one inside. Outside the there is an external bell tower which I think is a war memorial for Norwegians in WW2.
Inside the cathedral the atmosphere is very peaceful, and the organ was playing when we visited. There is a lovely stained glass window above the altar, and the cover over the font seems to be covered in reindeer hide!
There is no charge for visiting the building, and there are also toilets if you need them.

Very strange looking Cathedral. It feels like they built the main building and suddenly remenbered they forgot the bell tower and just decided to be creative and built something close by. Didn't saw the inside, but from the outside, impressed by the boldness of the choices made, but that was it
Bodø Public library is an ideal destination for people seeking a peaceful and productive environment to read books, magazines or watch movies. The building spans across three floors and offers various activities tailored for both youngsters and adults. In addition to reading materials, the library also provides event rooms that can be booked for occasions. It's a great place to relax while engaging in educational activities.
Visited the library whilst on a cruise which called at Bodo. The building is modern and clean, and open until 9 pm in the evenings, as Norwegians like to read a lot during the dark nights of winter.
There is an integral cafe in the building, serving light meals, cakes and hot drinks. We had excellent hot chocolate and coffee, brought to our table by the girl working on the counter. The food looked delicious, but we did not have time to sample it unfortunately. There are toilets in the building also, which are free of charge.
Leslie Jones — Google review
A very beautiful and spacious place, with a wonderful view, conducive to study but all this is ruined by people who come for completely different reasons than reading and learning. Some people talk very loudly, laughing, probably confusing the library with the cafe, which is annoying for a person who comes there to learn. I don't understand why no one warns them. Maybe some "Keep quiet" messages would be useful for those who don't know why people usually go to the library.

Harbor view from here is stunning, especially in the evening with vanilla sunlight but it’s not a place for studying at all. This is the loudest library I have ever visited and I also found that one of the staffs here was unfriendly when I was asking for help about returning system. A bit disappointed.

Library & Concert Hall are okay, but overall Bodø is rather ugly. Almost as though the mindset is: We're located in one of the most beautiful places on the planet & everyone's going to Lofoten anyway, so what do we need to care about our pathways & city architecture...

The gaming section is only open two days a week and the music room was impossible to find. I was refused entry into the children’s section with my service dog because “it’s a big problem, because of the children” even though I was with my two children, whom she was raised with, and she had not made a sound and was right by my side the whole time. The librarian was incredibly rude and loud and made a scene in front of many other patrons. Everyone else was unhelpful and rude as well, we intended to spend hours here and only stayed 20 minutes.

The Nordland Museum in Bodo is a small but informative museum that provides a detailed overview of the history and way of life of the people in Bodo. The exhibits cover various topics including the founding of Bodo and its evolution to present day. A temporary exhibit on mittens showcases the patterns and designs, providing insight into their history. While some areas could benefit from additional information, overall it offers an interesting and precise account of the region's story.
We only had a short stop in Bodø and this little museum was well worth the visit. The lady was very welcoming and informative. Its a small but interesting museum about the history and life of the people of Bodø. They currently have a temporary exhibit on mittens which was lovely to see and learn the history behind the patterns and designs of the mittens. It was a dream visit and I would recommend to anyone who is visiting Bodø!

Very nice swimming pool, really warm, great facilities including the pool and aqua play. The toilets weren't clean enough. Although all the staff were very friendly, nice and helpful, one of the body guards was very silly and intrusive. She was a young lady, and she was looking at us all the time. Bodin Church is a small, beautiful medieval church that was constructed in the 13th century. It boasts of Romanesque architecture and exudes an aura of history with its dusty, creaky old wood. The Christmas midnight mass held here is said to be magical, and the world-class organ guarantees a good concert experience for whoever performs here. Visitors are recommended to take a stroll through the nearby cemetery and public farmyard with duckpond after touring the church.
A medieval church featuring romanesque architecture. Smells of history, dust and creaky old wood. Christmas midnight mass is magical. The organ is world class. If you get a chance to go to a concert here it will be good, whoever is playing or singing... guaranteed! I've sung here myself and it's an ethereal experience. A wander through the nearby cemetery and the neighboring public farmyard with duckpond is a good way to round off the Bodinkirke experience. Notice the ship hanging from the ceiling, a feature in most if not all Norwegian churches, but at Bodin it seems to be organic to architecture, grown right out of the green painted wood of the balcony and straight backed pews.

We went to this nice church expecting some good photo opportunities. This church is not a tourist hotspot as it is a little bit outside of Bodo. From the outside the church looked very good and interesting. Unfortunately on the day we went there, there was a funeral in process. Now you can't bump in with a big smile and take pictures - this would be disrespectful. So we sadly left without entering.

The Salmon Center Bodø is an exhibit center in Norway that showcases sustainable fish farming. Visitors can learn about the salmon industry in Norway and dispel misconceptions they may have had about fish farming. The exhibit features informative visuals, including video, and has friendly guides to lead tours. It is a recommended stop for anyone interested in learning about the Norwegian salmon industry. The center plans to add a virtual reality exhibit soon, which should be exciting for visitors passing through Bodo.
Exhibit center for exploring how fish are sustainably farmed in Norway. Stopped here during a short layover from the Hurtigruten. Very informative, plenty of great visuals including video. Small but well designed - the info is interesting, the english translations are okay and beside texts and videos there is even some material to touch and feel. We even got a small tour!
Of course you have to keep in mind that this is a museum made by the fishing industry. Still, they reacted well to critical questions.
The information is only about the breeding and growing of salmons, not about the fish itself or how salmon products are made. That's not a bad thing, but it doesn't really become clear from the museum description alone.
All in all I recommend a visit, especially since it's for free!
