The NWT Legislative Assembly is a government office in Canada that showcases an impressive building design, honoring and incorporating elements from 11 different indigenous languages and cultures of the region. The self-guided tour is highly recommended, providing easy-to-understand information about the exhibits. The assembly's behavior towards each other during sessions serves as an example for respectful conduct while discussing governance matters. Additionally, visitors can enjoy good food at the cafe inside the premises.
Beautiful building. Totally worth going for the tour daily at 10:30
The painting collection in the meeting room is world class.

Really interesting tour of a unique (circular) political chamber. Very different to any we have seen before, and well worth a visit. Great tour guide (they are free at 10:30am daily).

Excellent tour that speaks about the building design and how it ties into the indigenous peoples of NWT. Amazing to learn that a government body in Canada is built around its people and respect for its indigenous peoples and their wisdom. This is a beautiful building with brilliant architectural design that weaves in different aspects of 11 different nations and languages of NWT. Highly recommended!

Wonderful free tour, approximately 45 minutes, of this beautiful building. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable as she talked us through all the details of symbolism throughout the building and on regalia.

Nice place to visit when in Yellowknife. It is possible to attend to a session if you are when they are having one.

This is well worth a visit. The self guided tour is easy and informative, the exhibits interesting and the building is impressive.
We listened to a session and it was great to see elected members behaving respectfully to each other. We could all learn from this.
The cafe has really good food too.

Oh, I see. Here is the review optimized for Google Maps Revit:
I had a great tour of the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate, and the tour was well-organized. We learned about the history, politics, and 11 official languages of the territory. The building is also beautiful, and it was interesting to see the main assembly hall.
I would highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in learning more about the Northwest Territories. It is a very informative and enjoyable experience.

This place gives free tours on most days at 10:30.
I went on one. The content of the tour was very good. It was really interesting learning about how the construction of the building relates to the style of politics in NWT.
The tour guide was amazing. She was authentic and presented the material well.
Bush Pilots Monument is a historical site located in Old Town Yellowknife. Accessible by a short flight of steps, it offers stunning 360-degree views of the town and surrounding lakes. The site also serves as a landmark visible from most parts of the old town. In winter months, visitors can witness cars and people on ice roads and planes taking off/landing on ice runways. Though the staircase is slightly hazardous, exercising normal caution will ensure safety while enjoying the beautiful panoramic views.
Visited in early April. A short flight of steps gets you to the top of the hill. I would go just for the view, if not for the history. The place offers a 360° views of Old Town Yellowknife and the lakes around. In winter months, you can see cars and people on ice roads and probably a plane or two take off/land on ice runway.
Jose Joy — Google review
Just a 100 steps up the hill by stair case. It’s doable and the view is worth it. You have a 360 degree view of Great Slave Lake, Old Town and the newer parts of Yellowknife. Dress warm because the wind was really strong up there. We spent maybe 10 minutes before heading down.
Tina — Google review
Very beautiful place with amazing panoramic views. A great place to sit, relax, enjoy the view, and listen to music 👌👌👌

Bush Pilots Monument is "the landmark of Yellowknife" you must visit. Climbing to the top of "The Rock", you stand at the intersection between the historical Old Town and the later-developed downtown, viewing the past and the present Yellowknife in all its glory. The vast and beautiful Great Slave Lake lies before your eyes. If you're lucky, you can watch the floatplanes take off or land on the water. The island across from you is Jolliffe Island, with many cool floating houses.
I do think such a great vantage point should be better maintained. The garbage can doesn't seem to be emptied for a long time, and wastes are flying everywhere which affects the photography. There is also vandalism/graffiti which ruins the monument and the scenery. It can also be cold during winter.

A Lovely look out point with a great view. The staircase is a bit treacherous, but exercise normal caution and you'll be fine.
Once at the top you can see for miles, and from the ground this site is visible from most of the old town, making it a good landmark.

A 360 degree view of Yellowknife’s old town, back bay and houseboat bay. Reminders of Victoria, BC Mount Tolmie.
The steps aren’t as many as it appears, they are close together and the view is all worth it! I went on a cloudy and windy day but it wasn’t very cold, perfect fall day!

Down to Earth Gallery is a small yet diverse establishment that offers an assortment of locally made goods, artwork, and pottery. This distinctive gallery houses an array of unique pieces from local artists and hosts exciting events such as the anonymous expo for local painters where all paintings are priced uniformly. In addition to showcasing art, they also provide information on the northern lights' indicators and the construction progress of the Ice Castle. It's definitely worth stopping by this gallery for a chance to discover something exceptional and support local artisans.
I would call this place more of a craft shop. There are great artisan pieces, that are sold here. Every thing from paintings, real fur mittens, traditional toys to tea. A great place to stop if you are looking for some local artists work.

Prelude Lake Territorial Park offers good camping facilities with well-maintained sites. The surrounding trees may not provide complete privacy. The Nature Trail is marked well and offers a diverse range of terrain such as smooth rock uplands, sand flats, and forests. Mosquitoes are less intense here than at Cameron Falls. This is an excellent hiking trail that takes you through amazing views and beautiful scenic points on the path to the lake.
Awesome. Didn't camp here but the sites look good (though maybe not very private because the trees aren't really thick). The Nature Trail is very well marked and takes you through varied terrain: smooth rock uplands, sand flats, forests. Bug intensity was much lower than at Cameron Falls.

Out of all the places we drove around the area trying to hunt down the Northern lights, this is the place that came for two nights and we stayed a few hours and saw the best show we’ve ever seen. The three factors that’s needed to see the beautiful Aroura are: the sky needs to be clear and not cloudy that night, there needs to be solar flare activity for that day/night, and you need to be in the right location. The locals said that you need to check the site "astronomynorth" to see the probability is for Yellowknife area, and check the site "auroramax" to see if the live cam sees anything, and last just need to be patient and wait for after midnight or 1am. If you want to capture it on a camera, you better have a really good low light phone or dedicated camera on hand, because out of 4 people with 4 phone cameras and 2 dedicated digital cameras, only one phone was able to capture these pictures while the rest only captured fuzzy faded mess. Good luck!

Northern Images is an art gallery located in the older section of town. It features a variety of local art and some craft, as well as Chinese-made souvenirs and maple syrup products. Each store on the main street has its own unique blend of local art, making it important to know what you're looking for and have some knowledge about local artists. While some galleries feature more touristy items, Northern Images has a diverse selection of options great for souvenirs or gift-giving.
Loved this place. Great selection of art from local artists in painting, carvings, beadwork, fur and ... as well as printed pieces and cards. Prices are all different ranges for different budgets and fairly priced for the type and amount of work that has gone into making these beautiful things. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

We went into several of the "galleries" on the main drag in the older section of the town. They all had local art, some craft and a lot of Chinese made some souvenirs. Also, for some reason, a large selection of maple syrup products. You have to know what you are looking for, and maybe a bit about the local artists. I forgot to note which pictures where of which stores and can not tell from looking at them now. Some had more local art than others, some were tourist traps. All were fun to check out, so I'd just suggest you walk the streets and try them all.

Super great art/souvenir store. Owner is A++ for customer service. Hell, I tried to tip him for the service-- he cut me a deal that I'm sure he lost money on, and I at least wanted to make up for his loss by giving his staff a few bucks-- and he refused. I was seriously o_0 and cannot rate Northern Images highly enough.

The state park, Cameron River Rampart Falls, may be difficult to locate from the road but it's definitely worth the effort. The trek through the forest is stunning and leads directly to the base of the falls. Visiting during winter time provides an enchanting experience as everything is draped in snow, creating a fairy tale-like setting. Accessing these gorgeous waterfalls is effortless and they are frequently visited by many.
Pretty hard to find from the road but it is well worth the search! Beautiful hike through the bush right to the base of the falls.

The Aurora Emporium Art Gallery is a must-visit gift shop that offers unique and high-quality hand-made items such as sweaters, bags, wallets, paintings and beadwork. They support local artists and sell fair trade products which make them stand out from other stores. The owners are welcoming and friendly to customers who come to purchase souvenirs or gifts. The sole camping option in Yellowknife is the Fred Henne Territorial Park, which features a vast expanse of campsites with ample privacy. Although it takes roughly an hour to reach downtown on foot, the park boasts stunning views that make for a pleasant stay. While there is only one shower and flush toilet facility near the entrance, pit toilets are scattered throughout the campground. The staff is top-notch and free WiFi can be accessed in the camp entrance building.
Do know, you will hear the planes at the airport and cars on the main road all night long. That being said i still loved the campground! The camping spots have walls of trees between them for privacy. Showers are no longer free. 1 loony (loonie?) runs about 5 minutes and the water is lukewarm. Only bummer is that they close the beach at 10:30pm and it's not open until later in the morning. So no sunrise pictures over the lake or swims or open space to watch the northern lights.
Jack — Google review
Great rv campsite for a stay at Yellowknife. Sadly, the campsites only have 30 amps of electricity with no water or waste pipes. However, the campground has several other areas for filling up water and dumping waste water. Has a small tent area with grass for kids to play. The beach is very safe with a rope to prevent people from swimming too far, a volleyball net, picnic tables, etc. However dogs aren't allowed on the beach. The campground is currently packed. Little rocky hills surround the area so it's a fun little hike but make sure to have good shoes. Saw a fox hanging around our site. Bears are also commonly seen. Staff were friendly and made checking in easy.

Basically the only place to camp in Yellowknife. You can walk into downtown from here but it takes around an hour. The campground is huge with lots of privacy between sites. The is only one set of showers and flush toilets but they are situated near the front entrance, the rest are pit toilets located throughout the campground. Staff is excellent and they do have free WiFi in the camp entrance building.

Beautiful building to set your food up and get out od the sun if needed. I would give it a 5 rating if they had flush toilets
.There is a beach for people to swim and hang out. Many people boating and paddle boating when I was visiting.
Lovely place and I am guessing it is packed jammed on the weekends and when it is hot out.
L K — Google review
Very nice place to enjoy a day out of the city while still in its proximity.
There are 2 different parts of the park: the day access and the night one. The night one is more for camping and requires reservations (even for 1person tent) at least 2 days in advance. At same time it has all required facilities for a night sleep (washrooms, water, electricity...). The area is locked at night from the day area by a fence.
The day area is open 24h/day with WCs, drinking water, tables, paddock, parking areas.
The place is indeed great for a swim during summer or enjoying the midnight sun in june/july.
Just remember to clean after you leave!

Pro tip. If you need to go to the bathroom and hate the pit toilets, go to the shower complex, they have great(real) water flushing toilets. Showers cost a loonies for a few minutes. The camp sites are spread out better than most camp areas. The noise is not too bad from the other people...but the airport may keep you up (bring ear plugs). If you are tenting make sure to get a site with a platform.
The performing arts theater Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) has hosted several events recently, including The Nutcracker Xmas 2021 and Crook the Kid w Cynergii feat. NARA.
