This was a great way to spend an evening leading about the culture and history of Lunenburg in a fun and music filled way. Costumes, while simple, added to the ambiance of the acting and singing. Good for locals and people from a far.
St. John's Anglican Church in Lunenburg is the second oldest Protestant church in Canada, with a rich history steeped in the Anglican tradition dating back to 1754. Sadly, disaster struck when it was destroyed by a fire on October 31, 2001. However, with great resilience and determination, the congregation voted to restore the church to its original condition prior to the fire. Reconstruction began immediately and was completed by June of 2005.
Such a beautiful church. It tells the history of the fire that the church has that destroyed everything and there’s a tour guide there to tell you more if you ask. Stained glass is on all walls and the balcony has the Lords Prayer and the 10 commandments written down. Definitely recommend if you love history & religion. The glass is absolutely beautiful

St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg, which dates from 1754, is the second oldest protestant church in Canada. St. John’s has a rich history in the Anglican tradition. Disaster struck on the evening of October 31, 2001, when the Church was destroyed by a fire. With remarkable fortitude the Church congregation voted to restore St. John’s to its original condition prior to the fire, and reconstruction at the site began almost immediately. St. John’s has been fully restored and was re-opened in June of 2005. The Gothic architecture is amazing. Beautiful exterior and interior it is great for photographers. This lovely church is a must-see when in Lunenburg.

Love this beautiful church and its history. Amazingly, there are still lots of people who come to join the worship. We were surprised to see how the 10 tuned bells sang different songs at noon for half an hour. Don't forget to check the "Vinegar Bible" downstairs.

Beautiful architecture in this church. Open to the public.

Beautiful ornate church, which was rebuilt after a devastating fire that practically burnt down the building back in 2001.
You would never know if you were not told that what you're looking at was not original to this 1753 church!
We learned so much from our guide Andrew. He was very detailed and knowledgeable about the church and its history.
We were told that the pews and the wood floor were the only parts of the building that were saved. Also one of the stained glass windows was remade from the broken pieces collected by the Lunnenburg residents nest the bay in the water runoff from the fire fighters water used to extinguish the fire!
If the Crypt and the balcony is open, do not miss the opportunity to checkout.
Overall, if you're near lunnenburg, this is a must stop!

St. John's Anglican Church is a beautiful and historic church located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It was founded in 1753 and is the second oldest continuous Protestant church in present-day Canada. The church is a popular tourist destination and is also a vibrant and welcoming community of faith.
The church building is a fine example of Georgian architecture. It is made of wood and has a steeple that rises 100 feet above the ground. The interior of the church is spacious and airy, with a high ceiling and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The walls are lined with stained glass windows that depict scenes from the Bible.
The church offers a variety of services and programs throughout the week, including Sunday morning worship, Bible studies, and youth groups. The church also has a strong commitment to social justice and works to help those in need in the community.
If you are looking for a beautiful and historic church to visit in Nova Scotia, St. John's Anglican Church is a great option. The church is also a welcoming and vibrant community of faith that is open to all.
Our guide was super helpful and very knowledgeable.

Beautiful church that is worth walking inside when visiting Lunenburg. They did an incredible restoration after a fire in 2001.

Beautiful church carefully and loving restored after a 2001 devastating fire. I don't know how they did it, but it looks so original complete with its wonderful stained glass windows.

Closed by the time we passed by. But, the facade is impressive enough for me to write a five-star review. Surrounded by churches in the neighborhood, this Anglian house of prayer stands out with its stylish architecture.
The Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens is a well-known tourist destination situated on a tidal river, renowned for its vast collection of roses and an Acadian house constructed according to 17th-century plans. This North American showcase garden spans over 10 acres and features immaculately designed beds that highlight both horticultural and historical elements.
We visited the gardens on a girls weekend trip and we were all blown away. The fee to get in ($10) was very well worth the experience. I would pay twice that, seeing how well maintained the property and gardens are. Each team member we ran into had something to teach or share and they were all so lovely. The gardens are absolutely breathtaking. I would drive the 90 mins from home to go again. I learned a lot about how certain vegetables grow (like artichokes and okra) and seeing an old thatched roof was pretty neat. Again, I can't get over how beautiful and pristine they are. Please go. You won't regret it.

What a lovely spot. We were so impressed that 2 of out 3 in our group bought season tickets so we can return.
A pocket of lovely gardens and tranquility in Annapolis Royal. Even in spring, when most of the leaves were absent from the trees, it was beautiful.
Will definitely return to see the beauty throughout the seasons.

Lots of plants still blooming. Grounds are very well kept. Staff was friendly (although only seen/interacted with them on arrival and exiting) Bathrooms were very clean and both are family friendly.
Plan on spending at least 2 to 3 hours here.

Absolutely stunning. Most plants were labeled, which added to the experience in being able to take in, enjoy, and remember the sights. The artistic birdwatching exhibit was a nice surpise, and we bought a ceramic bird and some flower seeds from the adorable gift shop to commemorate our visit. I could have easily spent the day here enjoying the gardens, but we were just passing through as tourists! Definitely worth seeing!

Beautiful spot! Was a bit hesitant to go in first because of the highish entrance fee ($16?) forgot exactly how much, but we ended up spending over 2 hours in there that made it well worth it. There is a little cafe situated in the middle of the gardens. The flowers were beautiful, scenery beautiful and landscaping well done. definitely a lot to see and enjoy if you’re into this type of thing.

My visit came in late spring, so earliest blooms were beginning to fade, while summer flowering plants were barely in bud - even so, I spent several hours wandering the beautiful landscaped grounds, enjoying the plantings. A recent rain magnified all the colours and details and it is very easy to imagine how lush and alive the gardens will be in another two weeks. Beautiful water features add delightful sound to the landscape and are cleverly set to run from one into the next. Surprise garden sculptures feature in unexpected corners. A very wide variety of Nova Scotia themed, sourced or crafted gifts, books, jewellery and more are very tempting in the gift store. Well worth the reasonable admission fee, and I will certainly return in future.

This is a beautiful location to walk every season of the year. The gardens are stunning and so well looked after. The little shop is perfect for Christmas presents carrying lots of local products. Must see.

The gardens blew me away...we expected gardens and the Royal Historic gardens are well planned and organized. I loved that almost every plant was labeled. It's the perfect environment for mushroom gardens!

What i like about this place is they have a wide range of flowers.
What i didnt like about this place are
- expensive entrance fee (didn't meet my expectation of the said fee)
- they have flowers, yes. But this place lacks landscaping. The flowers weren't presented optimally.
- too much bugs and they are big! Up to the parking lot
The place needs some polishing especially for the entrance fee they charge.

A must visit on your trip to the Bay of Fundy area! Beautiful garden and very cute gift shop. There is also a cafe but it wasn't open when we went. Our favorite part was the rose garden.
Pictures are of the garden in early July. A great time to go!

The garden is very lovingly designed and contains a lot of different plant species. The garden appears larger on the map than it actually is. Nevertheless worth a visit. Within an hour you have walked all the paths including the dam where you leave the site for a short time.
The ticket is a day ticket so you can also go out and come back.
The prices I find for the size of the garden a bit expensive. Here would also be sufficient for adults a reasonable price.

It's worth the drive! We were amazed by the variety of plants there. The rates for family are very reasonable at $35 plus tax. There is a nice little gift shop and a cozy cafe. Highly recommend the strawberry lemonade.

This was a great Garden but we arrived too early to see full bloom although everything was in bud.
The grounds are nice to walk around and fairly large.
There's a wonderful display of tulips, peonies, and various trees.
There's also a well-stocked gift shop and on site restrooms.
The garden is mixed between flat areas and areas that require stairs, but not too strenuous for the very young or very old.
Recommended.

Who would have thought that the gardens could be so lovely on a sunny late November day but they were. A lovely walk about. Amazing, huge old trees so majestic without their leaves. We must return in spring/summer. But we still completely in joyed our walk this time. The store was open and the staff were friendly and helpful. Truly a garden for all seasons. Bring cash for a donation to enter. Walking is easy and mostly level and gravel. 🥰💚🌳💚🥰
Ocean Explorations Zodiac Whale Cruises offers an unforgettable experience for whale watching enthusiasts. Captain Tom, a professional and knowledgeable guide, leads the tours with a keen eye for spotting humpback whales, dolphins, sea birds, seals, and other marine life. The longer-than-typical tours ensure ample time to locate these majestic creatures further out at sea. The zodiac boats provide a safe and thrilling way to get up close to the wildlife in their natural habitat.
Tom and the rest of the office crew were professional, friendly, and super informative! Captain Tom was a fantastic tour guide, and exceedingly knowledgeable; he really is a whale whisperer. We saw 6 humpback whales (inc. a calf, mother, and 'escort' whale). We also saw puffins, various seabirds, porpoise, dolphins, and seals. It was absolutely awesome! Would 100% recommend and come back to do again! The zodiac boats are the only way i want to go whale watching.

Tom is amazing and took us all the way out to see many groups of humpbacks, and taught us about the whales, letting us spend a lot of time out with them. He was so knowledgeable and kind and we can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful time. We saw an Orca and 7 Humpback whales! Tom was great about us being delayed and waited for us. He was informative and a great guide. It was an adventure that I would definitely do again. Thanks Tom!

Captain Tom was very professional and I felt very safe on the zodiac whale watching tour. I went back in August 2021 and it was a lot of fun! Tom spent over 2 hours looking for whales until we found some humpbacks. We also saw sea birds and dolphins! I’d highly recommend going with Ocean Explorations but just make sure you book reservations in advance because tours can fill up quickly. From my experience, Tom was most responsive to emails around 8am before heading out on tours for the day.

We had a wonderful day with Ocean Explorations Zodiac Whale Cruises and highly recommend the tour. Captain Tom was very knowledgable and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Our tour was longer than typical as the whales had been spotted further out, which means more gas $ and more time for Tom. We saw dolphins, seals, puffins, and of course, the majestic humpback! We are so lucky to have the opportunity to see these beautiful animals up close. Thanks Captain Tom!

I loved the zodiac boat. Although the boat was uncomfortable but ONLY because the sea was rough that afternoon. Seen a pod of dolphins swimming around the zodiac. Tom was rough around the edges but when you deal with spoiled tourist for 35 years it can get to you. Boat was safe and ran beautifully. We did not see the mighty humpback but nothing is guaranteed. I went on previous whale watching tours elsewhere and it's hit or miss sightings, it's not like sea world Florida where they train them to wait for you and when you show up they dance and do flips in the water. I will DEFINITELY be coming back next summer to give it another try. I'm pretty confident will see whales next time.

What an incredible experience. Captain Tom made it a really informative trip. We were so lucky to see 4 humpback whales. A mother and very playful calf, and 2 other adults.
We were given flotation suits, hats and gloves to wear. My 6 year old daughter was given waterproof jacket and trousers and a life jacket. You should wear closed toe shoes. It wasn't really cold but the gloves were good for holding on. It felt very safe on the zodiac and exhilarating when we travelled at speed.

Le Village Historique Acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse
The Acadian Village in Nova Scotia tells the story of the Acadians and their ability to preserve their culture and traditions. This museum showcases historic buildings, offers educational experiences like blacksmithing and fish preservation, and is a great stop for anyone interested in history or science. Visitors can also enjoy the generous and friendly staff as well as food at the on-site café. There's something for everyone at Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
What a great place to get a feel for traditional lifestyles in this part of the world. Started off with lunch in the museum store (local dish, Rappie pie - either you like it or you don't). Tour consists o two salvaged houses (with backstories on the original owners), an old post office, a blacksmith (with a functioning forge), a boat shop (dorries under construction), a fish factory (hand made salt cod - tasty), and a fish shanty (equipment storage and repair). The docents were exceptional with personal knowledge of the area and the times depicted. Lot of fish tales, so to speak. Well worth the time, especially on a beautiful day.

This place was fascinating. It covered a not very well understood part of history and it made it real. The staff of living history interpreters were very knowledgeable. The preserved old buildings were amazing.
