Ganina Yama, located near Ekaterinburg, is a memorial complex and monastery dedicated to the Holy Imperial Martyrs. This site holds historical significance as it was where the bodies of Czar Nicholas II and his family were brought after their tragic murder in 1918. The complex features seven chapels, each honoring a member of the Romanov family. Visitors can explore a free museum with exhibits related to the family's history, although all information is presented exclusively in Russian.
Monastery with 7 chapels, made for Romanov family whos bodies were thrown here in to the pit. It has a historical meaning as does religious. Its set in a beautiful forest and definitely worth a visit, has a museum too. Dont expected any other language here (in the museum or from anyone else), but russian..

Great and a powerful place. The place pays tribute to Nicholas II and his family who were executed over 100 years ago. The place is beautiful and is free to visit. There are 7 chapels each dedicated to the members of the family. There's also a mini museum that has great exhibits and too is free to enter. The only downside is that all the exhibits in the museum are marked completely in Russian. So is everything else, so anyone who doesn't speak Russian will understand absolutely nothing. Also unless you are going to pray in the churches, the trip would be over in less than an hour because churches are the only thing here. The main problem is going back to the city. You can come here by bus or taxi (expensive) but going back is quite difficult because bus frequency is poor (one bus every 60-70 mins (in our case the bus came almost 3 HOURS later than it was supposed to)) and there is no network, only 2G works but very slowly so ordering a taxi is difficult and more or less impossible because cars aren't available nearby. Good place though.

Place with calm and quiet atmosphere. Free to go inside churches and also museum. Unfortunately in museum everything is in Russian. If you are not going to pray, in one hour you can walk through everything. They have info about how to get there by bus on their website.

The 'official' site to which the bodies of the imperial famly had been brought to, after their murder in the night of July 16th, 1918, is Ganina Yama (Ganya's pit) at the then already abandoned iron mine of the Four Brothers. For this reason the Russian Orthodox Church gave the orders in the year 2000 for the construction of a monastery dedicated to the Holy Imperial Martyrs (Passion Bearers).
Quite a bit of controversy though surrounds the final remains of Czar Nicholas II and his family. One week after the execution of the last Romanovs the White Army had retaken Yekaterinburg (and kept it for 1 year) and order was given to investigate the killing of the last czar. It was then that Ganina Yama was declared as the place, where the bodies had been deposed, either thrown into the pit or destroyed.
Clandestine excavations in 1979, thus still in Soviet times, at a place called Porosyonkov Ravine, a few kilometers away from here, brought to light remains that by DNA analysis were said to be from the imperial family. This was though not accepted by the Russian Church.
To get to Ganina Yama it is best to take a taxi. I had it combined with the Europe-Asia border marker, a 20min drive from here. The holy site is located in the northwest of Yekaterinburg near the village of Koptyaki by lake Iset.
There are seven wooden churches here, one for each member of the family. Under the main church, dedicated to Czar Nicholas II, is a museum, just as at the Church on Blood, the site of the murder, in Yekaterinburg. Around the Ganina Yama pit is a covered walkway with enlraged photos of the members of the imperial family.
Women have to wear skirts and scarves, but these are - in purple color - available at the entrance gate. By the parking is a small café in a tent and an information board, also in English, with a depiction of the place, showing all the about 20 different buildings here. All the other information boards further inside though are only in Russian. At the site are also an icon shop and public toilets. Since Ganina Yama is in the middle of a forest, there can be quite a few mosquitoes in summer.

At the site of the initial burial, in an old mining pit, of the Russian royal family and four loyal servants, the Monastery of the Holy Royal Martyrs was built in 2000. It's a large complex of 7 churches, each dedicated to a member of the murdered family. The church "union domes" glitter in the sun and the interiors are typically ornate and beautiful. There is an excellent museum under the church dedicated to Tzar Nicholas which is a must visit. Note, to enter the site, ladies must cover their head and wear the long skirts, available at the entrance.

How to get to Ganina yama; From dinamo station towards mashinostroyeteli. go into the last wagon, exit from it, after stairs take the only exit to the right, then left... from the metro exit you will see traffic lights in front of you, don’t cross the street, take left and walk for 200 meters you will see bus stop. There you will find the schedule (check photo) wait there for the bus. Take 223..as i understood bus 223 and 111 take you to Ganina yama, however ask before you enter the bus, they might change the rout for 111. It takes one hour in a bus due to stops and longer route, but it is nice drive to see different districts of Ektrbrg. Ganina yama is a very quite place, churches are built in the forest... good to read about it before hand, excursions are available at the same location, ask for it when arrive if you want to take one. There is also a cafetria next to the exit inside with more choices than the outdoor one.

Spent 2 hours in this monastery , with 7 wooden temples, each dedicated to the last tsar family (total of 7) of Russia, killed by Bolshevik. Bring a scarf with you, as they will ask women to wear it to enter. Also all women were asked to wear a red skirt, even if you are wearing long trousers. Some women with their own skirts (even knee tall) were allowed to enter without wearing the red skirt (why?).

I get there by taxi...be sure the taxi wait for you. Otherwise no chance to return in city because no 4g available there.

This place is one of the best sites i have gone to in my visit to Yekaterinburg, the center has museum along with a shopping center and cafes. One of the best historical museums I've ever seen, it has just about everything, the museum is beautiful, very well maintained, the artifacts were displayed in the most creative way possible, the museum uses modern technology to display the artifacts in the most impressive way possible. The tickets are also very cheap, 200 Rubles, and 100 Rubles only if you're a student. Highly recommend anyone who's visiting Yekaterinburg to visit this place.

The museum is new and moden, and the exhibition is very well laid out to spend 2-3h of exploring this amazing country history. Although it could me more comfortable with more good roads in the middle of the park. And more benches, cause a lot of i found were taken by people ) And that cafe near the road is just great located in the park. Yekaterinburgskiy Gosudarstvennyy Akademicheskiy Teatr Opery I Baleta
Yekaterinburgskiy Gosudarstvennyy Akademicheskiy Teatr Opery I Baleta is a magnificent baroque-style theater built in 1912, which showcases both modern and traditional ballet and opera performances. The theater boasts world-class musicians such as the orchestra, soloists, and choir. Recently, the city opera house took a bold step of replacing paper cups with glasses to serve alcohol in theaters while also replacing elderly ushers with cheerful youngsters.
The opera was great! Nice place and warm atmosphere.

Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land
The Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints, a prominent landmark in Yekaterinburg, was built over the location where the Romanov family met their tragic end. Constructed in a grand Byzantine style, this controversial church is dedicated to honouring the Romanovs who have since been canonized as saints. Despite criticisms that its exorbitant expenses could have been better utilized elsewhere, it contains one of Russia's most expensive commissioned icons.
The Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, Храм-на-Крови, was built between 2000 and 2003 on the orders of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian government. It was constructed to memorialize the Romanov family's tragic execution in 1918, with the Ipatiev House's remnants incorporated into its design. Since its consecration in 2003, it has served as a place of pilgrimage and remembrance for both Russians and visitors from around the world. Absolutely beautiful, mesmerizing interiors. In Yekatarinaburg, the last Russian emperor Nicholas II and his family and four loyal servants, spent the last 78 days of their lives. In 1918 they were brutally executed in the basement of Impatiev's house. The house was demolished in 1977. A small wooden chapel (late 1900s) was replaced by this church. It is divided in two parts: upper level to honour All Saints and the lower "execution room". The red granite in the walls symbolises the blood. This is an important building in this tragic saga and the history of the City.

Five stars as if you’re in Ekaterinburg you have to visit it. Read about Ipatiev house before you go, otherwise you won’t understand the concept.. entrance is for free... church is built on two floors, both open for visitors. Ground floor is constructed as basement. The room where the family was killed is supposedly the one with the red light. Representing the wall.. i visited this place first before Ganina yama, but the order doesn’t matter much. There is a small shop inside. Remember to enter any church you will need to cover your head for females and trousers (no shorts) for both (most of (touristic) churches will give you something to cover up.

The works of the stone-cutting masters are simply magnificent; I couldn’t get away from the stone figurines at all) There was a feeling of such lightness, as if they were made from plasticine, and not from durable stone. I really liked the hall dedicated to Bazhov. The Mistress of the Copper Mountain made of selenite is simply magnificent, the lacquer paintings of paintings based on Bazhov’s fairy tales make me want to look at them down to the smallest detail. The only thing that upset me was the opening hours of the museums on weekends (mostly until 6 pm. I was on a business trip and on Saturday it was only half a day, because of this I was able to get into only one museum and practically ran to the museum located in the water tower because he works until 19.

The Park Usad'by Kharitonovykh-Rastorguyevykh, constructed in 1826 in a classical English style, comprises tranquil gardens featuring a man-made island and a pond. Its previous owner was the merchant Kharitonov. The park is an oasis within the city jungle that invites visitors to stroll around, play with their pets, and feed the ducks.
Beautiful Park & historic place. Used to belong to merchant kharitonov. absolutely wonderful to be wondering about his estate imagining what it felt like in the 19th century

Very good place to stay in Ekaterinburg. Everything in good shape in this hotel, rooms are comfortable, plenty of space for gear and luggage. Excellent bathroom. They have a large guarded parking space on the rear. Restaurant is just average but staff is professional. Desk staff excellent. 200 meters from underground going to city center.
