Great views from the Hill of the Harbour and all the boats. Nice historic army base situated at the top near the lighthouse. Plenty of cafes to get food and drink from. Very nicely kept and clean all round. Stunning views looking out to sea. We went on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. Will be going back some day as we didn't have time to walk round properly.

Lot's of parking, cafes and an ice cream van or two. Lively to walk alongside seafront , sit and have a coffee. People watch or look at the sea

Great Disability Blue badge access on 'normal' non event days. You get to park on the flat tarmac area. So those with mobility issues are able to get around. There is also a averagely good cafe with good access. Not forgetting the great views. You can also make shadow angels of it's sunny.

Very overcast day with scattered showers and a strong breeze but if you're not prepared to go for a walk in England in this weather you best stay at home. I just love the wind coming off the ocean and messing your hair up. Not much activity here today but a lot more people further down. I made time to pay my respect at all the memorials to those who sacrificed their lives so we can lead a free life today.

Absolutely beautiful place to come and read the history of the place and see the statues. Great for picnics on the grass and skating, biking and walking across the tarmac.gmGoid number of seats dotted around to sit to just watch the world go by. Another great thing to do is to go up in the light house, gives you a bit of height to look over Plymouth, Barbican and surrounding areas. Highly recommended.

Lovely space on a beautiful day. Great views across the bay out to the Naval ships at dock, and we sat watching the swimmers for a while, before finding an ice cream and a coffee at a local cafe. We really enjoyed our visit - it was peaceful and picturesque.

Taken on a very cloudy overcast day, still the scenery was breathtaking, plenty to see in the area. The war memorial is really big, walls and walls filled with names…. The lighthouse was lovely and eye catching, you can pay to go inside. The swimming was stunning, not many in with the weather, bet the water was chilly. Great very, peaceful, relaxing. Plenty of benches to watch the world go by.

Located in Plymouth, England on the Barbican, this distillery offers regular tours and an extensive gift shop selling a variety of alcohols and types of gin. Tours are available in English or French. Admission is charge but discounts are available for children and those under 10 years old.
Fab tour! The guides were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Value for money at £11, we tasted 3 gins & stayed for a complementary drink in the cocktail bar but you could have a miniature to take away with you if preferred. You also get 10% off in the shop if you’ve been in a tour. Visited on Saturday 19 June 2021 - best to book although they do take drop-ins if they have room.

If you are in Plymouth for any reason, you absolutely must check out the Plymouth Gin Distillery!
Great shop full of goodies, easily the best cocktail bar in Plymouth attached to the distillery, the head bartender Coco was incredible & made sure my visit was memorable (as well as making one of the best martinis I’ve ever had).
The tours are great as well, regardless of how experienced you are with gin. Beth was sublime as our guide! Incredibly knowledgeable & charismatic. Made the history of gin fun to learn & get everyone involved. Thank you to everyone at the distillery, could not have been more friendly & guest welcoming!

We went on the Master Distillers Tour and it was fantastic! We were given a gift voucher for Christmas and i can highly recommend this as a gift for anyone (gin lovers or not) Our tour party guide was Naomi and she was very informative, funny , entertaining and answered any questions with ease.
Unfortunately due to some roof maintenance and repairs there was considerable scaffolding erected in part of the building but we were still able to view this area . It just hampered photos slightly. The history of the company and of gin itself was very interesting . The tasting was very well laid out in a very nice room/bar. We never thought gin could taste so different just adding water! Onto the gin producing area ( reminded me of school chemistry lessons!) and we tried some cocktails before mixing our botanicals and adding to the alcohol. It was great to see the mixture bubbling and rising up through the tubes and then condensing back into a collecting bottle as gin! Really looking forward to trying it ( recommended to leave it for 24 hours) After this we went to the relaxing bar for a complimentary cocktail of our choosing. (Our 9th gin!) Overall a very well presented and organised experience. We would definitely visit again as it was so informative and interesting and great fun.

We did the standard tour which was really good. Harriet, our guide, kept it light and fun whilst providing plenty of information, and it was good value given it included a tasting of each of their products followed by a drink in the very impressive cocktail bar. Highly recommended.

We did the full tasting. Short tour and history lesson. Long tasting session. Tour guide Carly was excellent. Gin tasting was excellent. Totally smashed now!! 😜👍😂 BTW Plymouth Gin is F.A.B.

Great to find out about how Plymouth gin started and to see how it is produced. A true original. Great guide and gin tasting experience followed by a relaxed afternoon in the lounge/cocktail bar. Certainly a visit not to be rushed!! Mr Kings and the Fruit cup real favourites!!!!

Hugely entertaining tour. I was the only one on the opening time tour (train to catch!) so the detail and information was in depth and very interesting. To see the pot still actually 'at work' and the master distiller going about his business was fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the ingredients section where you can sense the Plymouth gin aroma coming together. And tasting the wares just topped it off! (I recommend the Fruit Cup!) Many thanks to the tour guide and the lady in the shop who helped to book a taxi. HUGELY enjoyable!!

Had a great tour here on a Saturday. It was good to do something as simple as squash and sniff the botanicals ingredients and our guide was very positive in the narrative. Ended up spending too much in the shop, the 10% discount was put to good use!

definitely a sight to visit in Plymouth.
Will come back for the TOUR.
this time only went in for a few drinks.
Great service and lovely staff.
Had the “Mr. King’s Recipe” and don’t regret it at all!
Make sure to buy some bottles on your way out.
If the store is closed you can fetch some bottles at the bar.

This was a great experience. Me and my girlfriend did the regular tour and we enjoyed it so much. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you're in Plymouth. Thanks to Beth for being an amazing tour guide and explaining the history of the distillery with great detail and enthusiasm. We had to buy a bottle of the Plymouth Sloe Gin after the tasting session🍷. We will definitely come back and do the extended two-hour tour next time!
The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is a popular tourist attraction with a waterfront location. It features many enormous tanks and aquariums, as well as the cafe offering panoramic harbour views.
We had a great time in here, plenty to see, do and read about. Lots of seating areas to just relax and sit and watch the fish. Ramps and lifts for disabled access / prams. There is a cafe for refreshments. At various times throughout the day you can watch talks about different creatures. Very enjoyable, entertaining and good for learning about the environment. Must prebook to go in, can’t just walk up and go in.
Claire Cronin (All Things Dark & Dirty) — Google review
National marine aquarium is great for a few hours. Well set out and a lot of exhibits for children and adults. For some reason I was allowed to convert a normal ticket to a years ticket for free. A nice surprise. You won’t find anything else quite like this in the UK if you are into sea creatures
Geoff — Google review
We had a delightful visit today. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The aquariums were alive and teeming with underwater wonders.
The entire place was impeccably clean, and it was evident that the animals were well taken care of with dedication and love. This added to the overall experience of observing the thriving and healthy creatures in the aquariums. The larger exhibits were incredibly fascinating, captivating us for extended periods as we constantly discovered new things. While the price may be a bit high, the fact that it's valid for an entire year makes it well worth it, especially if you live within driving distance.

First visit having seen the documentary. Great use of space and exhibits. Good that there is more than one viewing area as we visited on a weekend and with families it was very busy. Very good information and signage, best take your time viewing as not able to backtrack easily to re-see things you may have missed.

Had a great time here. Quite busy, 12-3 on a Saturday. Very good wheelchair access.
Spent ages just watching the huge tanks, better than TV! Staff all very helpful.

Was really good, went here for my girlfriend's birthday and we both loved it and will be back. Highlight is definitely the massive tank, where you get three or four views into it, including a massive, floor to ceiling, curved window that allows you to see the whole thing. On top of that, you also get free return within a year when you visit, all in all super impressed!

I've made the online booking, and it was easy to enter the building. The staffs were really helpful. I have opted for the morning 10 to 11 slot, which was less crowded. Aquarium is good and well maintained. However, I felt like 25£ per adult is too much, but kids or toddlers would definitely enjoy this place.

Fantastic day out - staff obviously love their jobs and I can see why.
Amazing place to spend time - clearly they are passionate about the Aquarium and the animals they care for...
Saw this on Secrets of the Aquarium and was determined to see it for myself... my son and his family along with my sister, her daughter and I had the bestt day out there...
Interesting, informative displays, excellent facilities and a perfect chilled put vibe... 👌

Really fun place to visit. Great for adults and kids. There were a few areas that could have done with a bit more info. Lots to see and do, even a boat wreck to see with the sharks!
Only negative was the cafe, food looked past it’s best, with a very limited menu so we ate elsewhere.
Alison Rennie — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! The tanks are very well designed and their marine environments perfectly compliment the beautiful fish inside them. The shark tank was great as was the huge 'cinema' tank with seating to relax for awhile and maybe catch a talk or two from the very knowledgeable staff. All the displays have tons of information and the language is accessible to all ages. Definitely recommend a visit. Please beware the café and bar are a bit expensive, so budget that in.

Amazing for the kids. And oldies alike. Amazing collection and very well presented in a modern aquarium. They let you make multiple visits during one year of buying your tickets. Worth every penny

Went in summer holidays so very very busy. Ticket price 25 pounds per adult !! and add parking your car in a very tight car park 8.50. All indoors, cafe and toilets. Had a nice day but would say go in winter months.
Amy Hill — Google review
Good for all children, big and small! Parking is close by which is not too expensive but not the cheapest. This is not run by the aquarium, so they have no control over it.
Lots of great exhibitions showing loads of marine animals from over the world.
Extras you can do are private feeding and backstage passes.
Matthew Robinson — Google review
This surely must be the jewel of Plymouth. What a fantastic place and venue. Most weekend's you'll find the aquarium turns into a concert venue and puts on Candlelight concerts featuring: Vivaldi, Coldplay, Taylor Swift etc. Great staff, food and now offering a ticket deal where you buy one ticket and get access for the whole year.
Marc Salter — Google review
A wonderful collection of marine nature. We visited in the year it opened 1998, and it was marvellous. Having just visited in 2024 it did not disappoint and is as exciting, educational and enchanting as ever. The staff are all very cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. We will be back hopefully sooner than 2050!
Fraser Bishop — Google review
So what do you do when you have guest? Well you go to the Aquarium is what you do. Great location, excellent staff and the fish are well behaved HA! At first you do think it's a little pricey, however the tickets last a year and you can visit again and again.
So give it a go, we will again.
Mark Davies — Google review
Very nice place to go around, BUT it was very expensive, just the two of us . The price was £ 41.00 .but saying that it is worth a day out. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When you get to end, you can sit down in the
In the cafe and something to have a drink and food .
Graham Eckley — Google review
A good 2 hour experience and plenty of close up action to large fish, rays, sharks and a cheeky turtle called Friday. Hang around for the interesting talk about sharks - get there at least 15 minutes early for a seat.
I honestly thought The Deep at Hull and the Blue Planet Aquarium near Chester were better and the shop here wasn't very good but the kids loved the fish displays and your ticket gives you free entry for a year and all ticket proceeds go to charity.
Plymouth Synagogue is a beautiful orthodox Jewish synagogue in the heart of Plymouth. It is rich in history and intrinsically linked to the town's history. You will learn a lot about the synagogue and the traditions associated with it during your tour.
Jerry is the custodian of this functional synagogue with a very long history, had a great time with the history of the shul, the area and of the people involved with it over the last 250 years. It's an insight into traditions, migrations and the fact that it wasn't damaged during the second world war amongst many other things

Our Curious Club enjoyed the most interesting and informative visit to Plymouth Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Britain. Hidden away in St Catherine's Street it is one of only two buildings in this street to survive the bombings in the second world war.
Inside, it is beautiful and feels peaceful.
Our very knowledgeable and good humoured host, Jerry Sibley, taught us so many things, not only about the synagogue and the Jewish religion, but about the history of Plymouth through the ages.
Thank you so much, Jerry.
Certainly, well worth a visit.

Amazing experience for people of any religions and beliefs!
You will absolutely love it! Jerry created a wonderful story connecting all the history dots between Plymouth and synagogue. You do not need to be a Jew to enjoy the tour - Jerry explains the interconnection between religions, the traditions and their meanings. I felt like in a Den Brown books - so many symbols to decipher, with hidden meaning, and Jerry researched them all!
You will need to allocate around 3 hours for this amazing experience - you won’t notice how time flies!

Beautiful synagogue with a fascinating history. If you can go on a tour (email the caretaker, Jerry), I highly, highly recommend it. Jerry's tour is incredibly interesting and well-researched, and gives an excellent overview of not only the history of Plymouth and the Jews who lived there, but Jewish life in England during different periods.

Our Art Appreciation group from Lostwithiel U3A visited on Tuesday 11th July. We had a most enjoyable and informative tour by Jerry. His knowledge is amazing and the overview of the history of Plymouth was fascinating. We would certainly recommend a visit for anyone and children would be entertained and would enjoy the dressing up! Jerry is an interesting character and has carved out a brilliant life for himself. At first, I thought the sound of a Thai restaurant being (seemingly) connected to a theatre could be very hit or miss, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good this place was after I visited with a few friends!
B Bar is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants that I've been to, and I've been to quite a few!
The food was excellent, my panang curry was very tasty & had the perfect level of spice to it
The spring rolls were some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant & really reminded me of my mother's home made ones!
The staff were also lovely which is always a bonus!

Plymouth Naval Memorial is a tribute to sailors from the First and Second World War who have no known burial place. The impressive obelisk, which stands at the center of the park, bears the names of 7,251 sailors from the First World War and 15,933 from the Second World War. The memorial is a beautiful architectural design steeped in history and it is a must-see for anyone visiting Plymouth Hoe.

I visited for the Holocaust Memorial Day service. Very moving speech from Dr Beckman and kaddish sung by Dr Bard. Otherwise rather corporate civil genuflection from the Council dignitaries that felt very much like a Council meeting. Would have liked to hear the testimonies and talks as in previous years, from Pastor Osee and Toby Gorniak MBE. Sad to see our Plymouth MPs not in attendance this year and that the talks were all in private at the Council Chambers. We need to keep the lived experience front and centre, however we do that as survivors pass on. Perhaps by recording them or speaking to their descendants.

One of the three great naval memorials built by the CWGC to commemorate the missing of the Royal Navy from two world wars.

The last time I was here I had accidentally joined a memorial service and it was incredible. It is a very historical place full of memories for people of all ages. This particular memorial service was very heartwarming and full of respect and love to everyone and I will never forget the old man in the wheelchair so full of love he shed a tear. It was a beautiful day, I remember afterwards laying down in the grass and watching the clouds. I even saw the princess there (I believe princess Anne) paying her respects. This really is a wonderful place to visit if you get the chance.
Richer Sounds is a retailer that offers discount prices on hi-fi, home cinema and TV equipment. The company provides excellent customer service, as evidenced by their handling of faulty products. Purchased a new LG TV from Josh at Richer Sounds in Plymouth. It was sadly faulty when I got it home (out of their control), but Richer Sounds dealt with this superbly. A replacement TV was delivered to me, with them picking up the old faulty one.
I believe I've dealt with 3 people from Richer Sounds now, and each time they remind me why I don't shop in Cu**ys any more. They are knowledgable, professional, polite, non-pushy and simply couldn't be any better at their jobs.
The price was excellent as well. It was the best deal around, including oonline. We got an Online price, with in-store service. That's the dream right?!
10/10 would recommend to everyone

As always Richersounds Plymouth offers a very competitive prices. I'm glad to have a well-informed, no-pressurizing, and professional squad that is willing to go the extra mile without pursuing the maximum profit. Couldn't ask for more especially now as HIFI shops are a dying breed. Keep up the great work!

Recipient of a gift voucher recently, i found that the details wouldn't work online. By the time i tried again, the speaker price had risen by £51. On phoning the store, Jay was fantastic. Honoured the original £299 price, sorted the gift voucher and split the difference on next day delivery. He also gave me great advice on my final choice.A lesson in superb customer service. I wouldn't entertain using anywhere else for my HiFi needs. Well done Richer Sounds.

Didn't actually buy anything, but these guys were super helpful and kind when I needed to find somewhere close to my hotel to park my disabled clients car while the Plymouth marathon was going on. They let me park the car in their private space overnight so I could access it during the marathon while all other places were inaccessible.
Good guys. Thanks.

I knew exactly what I want, a new TV LG42 OLED42C24LA, no fuss just check the box and pay for the TV. The sales woman who seemed to be very new, was instructed on how to process the sale. No extra sales chat, asking if I wanted a sound bar with it, which I was thinking about, but no just a straight forward sales.

I've used Richer Sounds for my TV and entertainment requirements for the last 5 years buying a number of TV's and complete home sound equipment. They provide excellent friendly advice and complete service from infrastructure design and install to final fitment and set up.
We had spent heavily with them in the past but loyalty does reward and with a recent warranty issue on a 5 year old TV they really did work hard to find the right replacement.
Their recent service went above and beyond what was contracted in the warranty and this has been much appreciated. Thank you RS team.

Burrator Reservoir is a beautiful, rolling reservoir located in Dartmoor National Park. The reservoir and surrounds are great for hiking, birdwatching, and fly-fishing. There is also a discovery centre with exhibits on the history of the area.
Hey there everyone, well off we went for a small mellow loop around Burrator Reservoir. A tad busy today but still mainly quite. As normal Dartmoor and the surrounding areas are fantastic and Burrator is no different. If you want a mellow walk this is a great start.

Lovely 🥰 you must be careful to don’t take wrong way and get lost that happened to us 😁😂but all was just an amazing experience.🙃
You can also camp 🏕 there carful also where you park your brand new car as are many horses 🐎 and they could scratch by passing by.
Also take water with you for a long walk

I love Burrator. It's perfect for either a short stroll or the 3.9-mile walk around or even as a base for longer hikes. It's beautiful, easy to get to as well as super relaxing.

Burrator Reservoir is nature at its best; breath taking, beautiful & dramatic set in a remote & tranquil area. The sheer force & sounds of gushing water on one side of Reservoir, with serene & calm lake on other side provide such contrast. The depth of Reservoir is both menacing & exciting with it's lake, a great habitat for many birds. There are many walks surrounding Reservoir area, both via road & alongside river. Can be quite cold & wet during winter months so wear appropriate clothing /footwear. Toilets near Reservoir although did not appear to be open.

Beautiful area to walk around, the dam itself is also stunning. Walk on the west side of the Reservoir a few 100 meters up the road and you'll find a nice waterfall.

I went here with my wife and a couple of friends. The hiking trail to reach there was amazing. We walked for about two hours to be greeted with this amazing views.
I recently visited this location with my wife and a couple of friends, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The journey began with a captivating hiking trail that left us in awe. The trail itself was nothing short of amazing, offering a perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty.
We embarked on a two-hour hike, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking surroundings. The scenic vistas unfolded gradually, rewarding our efforts with stunning views at every turn. The lush greenery, towering trees, and the invigorating scent of nature created a serene atmosphere that rejuvenated our spirits.
As we reached our destination, we were welcomed by an awe-inspiring sight. The views were simply breathtaking, stretching far and wide, and leaving us speechless. The effort we put into reaching this point was undoubtedly worth it.
In addition to the stunning views, the location also provided a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts like us. We captured countless moments, each frame showcasing the natural splendor we were lucky enough to witness.
Overall, our visit to this location was an incredible adventure filled with awe-inspiring beauty. The hiking trail leading us there was exceptional, and the views we encountered were nothing short of magnificent. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders.

Brilliant walk. We parked near the arboretum and did the whole circular walk. Only took 2.5hrs with a small picnic stop half way round near the dog exercise area (the only part of the walk dogs are allowed off lead near the resevoir).

Good for a quick visit as it is just the reservoir there. On road parking, toilets available but very dirty when we visited in November. Ice cream van present, also selling hot choc. Nice views over the water and forest.

Very quiet.
There was an ice cream van (we went on a Monday)
Plymbridge Woods is a wooded valley of the River Plym, located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. The area is popular for hiking and has several trails that take you through wildflower-covered meadows and into the old quarries where peregrine falcons breed.
Great free place to spend with the family on a bike ride. A car park if you want to bring your bicycles with you, or your dog(s). Great cycle tracks that go on for miles in beautiful surroundings. A well used path with plenty of stopping points to take a picnic or rest and admire the sights.
Jamie L. Thompson — Google review
Great walk from the car park alomg the old railway line, now a cycle path. Cross over the viaduct then walk back down by the river. You can paddle in the river which is great on a hot day. There is also a heritage railway line that runs on Sundays this runs either steam or vintage diesel.
Matt Cook — Google review
Plymbridge woods is my absolute favourite place. I love the variety of trails and the beauty of the woods never fails to lift my spirits. I've been visiting the woods for years and I am still discovering new things about it. Some of the trails are more popular than others and unfortunately these attract bad dog owners who don't pick their dog's mess up which is a shame. People need to learn to respect our natural beauty spots.
C A — Google review
Still my favourite place in Devon 🖤 perfect for a short wander, a longer explore, or a challenging hike, so many routes and paths. Cycle trails are also apparently good, and easy to stay out of the way of if you're walking with your family or dogs. Some old settlement ruins to explore (be careful near the cliff edge). It's beautiful in all seasons. Please take your rubbish home with you x

Great place to spend the day young or old alike. Lovely river walks and plenty of open areas for swimming and having a picnic. Road a little tight to get down, but saying that we went down in our motorhome. Walks along the river give you plenty of opportunity to see Kingfishers Dragonflys and if really lucky an otter.
Caroline Hales — Google review
So many trails to choose from. Both car parks are not very big, but they can still accommodate many cars. Gets very busy when the weather is nice. There was ice cream van when we visited. Riverside paths are stunning. Very good cycling paths too. Can be muddy after rain though. Very popular for dog walkers.

We cycled along the path as cannot walk without my back hurting, never get over how beautiful this place is, also the peacefulness, hearing the river and the birds

Lovely place to walk in beautiful surroundings. Just have to dodge the dog poo! There's the steam railway which runs on a Sunday. And a coffee/tea van down there on a Sunday, not sure about other days. Lots of people cycling and running too.

A lovely spot full of history, quiet (The day we visited, but then it was raining!) well paced car parks. The map was a bit hard to work out where the trains started but once we worked it out it was lovely. Whether you follow the old canal, the river or the railway it’s a lovely walk.

Plym Bridge is a hidden gem of natural beauty. The lush greenery, tranquil river, and well-maintained trails make it a perfect escape from city life. Whether you're walking, cycling, or simply enjoying a picnic, Plym Bridge offers a serene and picturesque setting. The historic railway track adds a unique touch to the landscape. It's a fantastic place for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Just be sure to bring some insect repellent during the warmer months!

We walked along the old Plym Valley railway path with our two dogs. I'd suggest keeping dogs on leads because bikes come so fast down the trail! It's a fairly easy path, but frustrating when in a wheelchair because of the camber of the path.

My first time there, would go again to try the other trails. Could be better signposting but other than that, clean, ample parking, good path ways and very scenic
Smeaton's Tower is a landmark lighthouse on Plymouth Hoe that offers amazing views of Plymouth Sound and the city. The 93 steps up to the lantern chamber offer an adrenaline rush for some, while others may enjoy just watching people and enjoying the sunshine on Plymouth Hoe. A must-see tourist attraction in Devon!
Great afternoon out with the family. Decided to take a trip to Smeaton's Tower and I was amazed to learn the history of Plymouth's lighthouses, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The view's from the top looking out over the Sound and back across to the Moors were stunning

Very interesting tower with stunning views. A lot of steps to climb to get to the top but we'll worth it.

This is a pretty special place, I rely enjoyed my time spent here. We walked up the tower, entrance was £5 each if I remember correctly, very interesting and we had a fabulous guide who was from Poland perhaps who was full of interesting knowledge about the tower and Plymouth in general. A wonderful place to visit.

Admission to this former Eddystone Lighthouse is just £5 for adults and half that for children. It is a fascinating attraction and the views of the City and Plymouth Sound from the top of the 72 foot high tower are quite spectacular! To get to the top there is a total of 93 steps, part stone spiral staircase, part ship's ladders and you have to duck A LOT, but it's well worth it!

Climb the Plymouth icon for just £5 (£2.5 for kids) amazing views out and both an external balcony and an internal viewing area right at the top.
Not suitable for those with movement difficulties due to restricted headroom / steep narrow staircases.

A lighthouse from 18th century, it is even older than United States. Inside there are sets of ladders. Climbing to the top, viewing Plymouth sound from its best location.
Nice for kids and family.

This was a fantastic lighthouse to visit, for which I received a concession of at just £2.50! The lady at the door was lovely, plenty of information is on display about the history and there is a wide variety of rooms. The replica settings really take things back in time, going up to the balcony is a top experience and spiral stairs are amazing!

Great climb to the top. The steps are narrow and steep. Full of historical history, great view at the top even on a cloudy day. Adults cost £4 to climb and Children £2... Under 5s are free.

Cost £5 to go up for an adult. It was worth it for the ranging views and historical context/info inside. The tour guide is located half way up and is helpful.
You can visit both the interior and exterior of the light house once you reach the top. WATCH YOUR HEAD!! Enjoy the views i posted here. Also there are a lot of step ladder steps to get up there! Be mindful if you have trouble climbing.
The Theatre Royal Plymouth is a prominent performing arts venue in the city, known for its diverse program of shows and events. It is the largest regional producing theatre in the UK and offers a wide range of performances throughout the year. The Lyric, one of its performance spaces, hosts various musicals and other large-scale productions, often brought directly from London's West End. Additionally, The Drum presents dramas and comedy-theatre performances, providing something for every taste.
TRP in Pymouth is an outstandingly arena for shows and performers. There are the Stalls and 3 Circle tier levels, Lower, Middle and Upper. Full capacity is 3,500. Admittedly the seats in the Stalks are somewhat cramped but not unduly. Whilst in the 3 Circle levels, which have small safety barriers for obvious reasons. Giving more leg room. Also, there are mini binoculars for hire for £1 on the Upper Circle seats if you should desire to use them. There is capacity for any disability to watch shows/performers at various locations in the Stalls section, or at the side of the front rows. The Emergency exits are readily visible with staff ALWAYS visible and at hand if needed. Sometimes photography is NOT allowed. So don't try to be clever. You WILL be spotted and stopped from breaching the performers/ shows copyright rights.

Very easy to get to and parking was right next door. Very easy ways to pay contactless for car parking. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Show was excellent. Very easy to get out especially as there were 1300 people all leaving at the same time.

Awesome show, tonight. Joe Pasquale knows how to knock out a panto, alright! Staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and polite. Shows are NOT socially distanced, so please be aware of that fact before you book. Seats could be a little wider, so if you're bigger built, try an aisle seat or the arm rests might dig in slightly. Otherwise, fantastic, clean good atmosphere, all at a decent price.

A gem of a place!! We went to see the Welsh National Opera La Traviata. It was outstanding!! The leading lady had an incredible voice!! & the cast were brilliant. Costume & set design were beyond fabulous.
Staff were really friendly. Highly recommended!!
My only grizzle was that when we arrived, a woman had selfishly stolen our seat, to pile up all her coats!! So our view was slightly obstructed by the top of the balcony as we had to shift along one seat. Not the Theatre's fault though.
A cloakroom (chargeable) to leave coats would help!!

Went to see 'And then there were none', booked late and got a seat in the upper circle. On arrival found that the upper circle was empty apart from the first three rows, found out why as soon as the play started, they had no microphones so couldn't hear a thing. Spent the whole play reading the subtitles on the screen above the stage. Absolute rubbish.
Gave feedback to TRP customer experience team and after 3 weeks no reply, awful.
Saltram House is a beautiful and well-known tourist attraction in Devon, England. The house was once the home of Sir Francis Drake and it is now home to the National Trust. The house has a secret garden that is only open to visitors on specific dates and Saltram also has a large park that can be used by families.
An incredible time capsule of the beautiful and jointly, the regal. Thank God for the National Trust, as they’ve long engendered and fostered preserving landmark buildings, castles and all sorts dabbling in and out of British history. Saltram House offers an incredibly breathtaking experience and step through hundreds of years all at an extremely reasonable fare. This Christmas was The Nutcracker theme, in which decor of each room was tailored and completely fashioned to adhere to a running narrative of the aforementioned suite/ballet. It was completely charming and breathtaking in all the best ways possible. A lot of love and attention went into making sure that all was period authentic and every physical article had subtle referencing of the great “Nutcracker “. Thematically, it was truly a sight and sound that was intoxicating. Year round, the house and grounds are close by to residents and visitors to the Plymouth region. The house has also lived on in cinema, being featured in a number of high profile Hollywood films that cater to those who love Victorian era romanticism.
A superb outing and a great experience with kind and attentive staff and a nice spot for tea on the grounds. Beautiful enveloping landscapes further cement these grounds as a picture perfect outing. Highly recommended!

I assume it is a highly enjoyable place for a whole family to visit all year round.
We were lucky to catch their nutcracker installation. Over 30 Christmas trees, thousands of lights accompanied by the Tchaikovsky music.

Nice house and small grounds, but not remarkable and disappointingly not at all dog friendly.
Dogs are not allowed into the grounds at all, but I'm not sure why this is because they are not manicured, walled, or formal gardens. An explanation would be useful as this is unlike nearly every other National Trust property.
It was a very short visit, as we were forced to leave the dog in the car, and even on a cool day this is not ideal.
jenny williams — Google review
Great day out especially if you have a 4 legged friend. The route is circular and I'd fairly level all around apart from one area. Dogs are allowed off lead for a lot of the area, and there are some stunning views across to Plymouth.

A beautifully kept house and gardens.
The house is a stunning property with meticulously decorated rooms and gorgeous original fixtures, fittings and furniture.
The gardens spread on for miles, with quaint walks around the house, you’ll find the chapel and a decadent orangery which houses their collection of trees.
This is a tranquil place outside the bustle of the city. Really worth a visit if only for a walk. The Christmas events are also incredibly impressive.

Considering we're heading into winter and today was a tad damp, what a great place. The house had the Nut Cracker display throughout the house and a well done to the staff at Saltram. Excellent effort. The grounds are great even at this time of year. Will we return? Indeed we shall. Stopped off at the Chapel cafe for a tea and hot chocolate plus a warm treat 😋.

Team all very helpful and enthusiastic, the Christmas theme was beautiful, extremely well executed and well worth a visit..... Really Christmassy!!
As with a lot of National Trust houses in recent years, you can only experience a very small portion of the house (I think there were probably 6 rooms) as the rest is closed off for other purposes such as holiday lets.
Definitely worth a visit, absolutely beautiful interior, just sad that we can't see more of it!!

Visited family run café located right next to train rides & enjoyed a breakfast bap (sausage, bacon & egg served in a fresh soft bap), chips & cup of steaming hot tea.
Café has been running for years, as have the little rides near it, providing families delicious hot & cold beverages, snacks & meals at reasonable costs, as well as providing activities too; they deserve to do well.
(I used to come here as a child, particularly enjoying the train ride & eventually brought my family here, who equally loved it.) Public toilets located nearby & further down green on left, families can benefit from activity park selling tokens for crazy golf, mini boat rides, treasure find & more. Opposite is traditional but large swing park. Great day out with always something to do.

A really lovely park, today totally spoilt by every bin in the park overflowing, rubbish blown around and probably assisted by foraging seagulls. Really sad to think what a poor impression of this beautiful city is taken home by tourists, who then don't return. 😦 I can't understand why emptying the park bins has such a low priority, especially when it's the half term holiday and lots of people will be enjoying the good weather.

Took the grandchildren for a play . The play area is great even adults were playing around on some of the rides. I saw a couple of parents taking their children into the bushes for their toilet needs...not ideal really. But overall it was a nice well spaced out park.

We come here on every visit to Plymouth. The little train is a must do for our children. It’s a tradition. This is a lovely clean park with a couple of rides, shop and play area.

This is a lovely area for families but nothing like as good as it was 50 years ago when it was clean, tidy and well maintained. Now, it's overflowing bins and discarded rubbish mainly from young families who do not look at the beauty this place should offer if respected.
The old Guss Honeybun train still runs, and there is crazy golf and a park with swings, climbing frames, and rope climbing.
There are brand new public toilets that are poorly cleaned and maintained and totally abused by its patrons.

Lots of overflowing bins, the loos were a joke says 20p to get in but it's 50p 2 toilet machines swallowed my money and remained locked, no one to approach for help. That's an adults perspective but my grandson loved his tome there. Probably will go back but I will be prepared!!

Great place to go with the kids. Gus honey bun train is fantastic for the little ones. This train is historical has been there for over 40 years. Also located in the park is an adventure playground. Tokens need to be purchased for most of the rides and the trampolines located with in it. Great field area for picnics and also has a cafe and ice cream stand near by.

How lovely to take the grandchildren into the free park. Had so much fun. Then a little treat on the trampoline, a play on the woodenboat and climbing frames on the green, followed by an ice cream. Fabulous views of the busy sea festooned with colourful dinghies, water boarders, canoeists, swimmers, and distant big ships near the breakwater. Sparkly water and fresh air. Lovely

Amazing views, historical gem and places to eat, drink and public toilets available. A children's park and huge grass areas to enjoy. Golf and bowls available. Boat excursions ran from the area and places of interest to visit. Beautiful scenery and area I love.

Great fun place for kids. Shame they cut the 'boat pond' in half as it's not half as much fun now. Other than that, all good, and you can get a decent ice cream waffle and coffee there too!

Nice little park. Plenty of green to sit on. Very good ice-cream cafe

West Hoe Park has a free and paid for section. The Pirate Cove extension to the park has paid attractions such as automated diggers, water games and ride on bikes and boats.
The free park is just as good, plenty of decent park toys such as swings, climbing frame and roundabout.
Parking is relatively cheap and free after 6 in certain areas.

Lovely area, clean and tidy , great views . Seem a nice and safe area to be. Enjoy my time there.
The church of St. Andrew is a friendly and welcoming place situated in the heart of Plymouth on Royal Parade. It has a range of services for people during Christmas, from traditional carols by candlelight to more relaxed (and noisy!) nativity services. The church also holds Christingle services on Christmas Eve which are very popular among its congregation.
Lovely Carol service and very well laid out. First time I've been for a long time and I felt so comfortable.

This is one of the church near in town of Plymouth, United Kingdom. Located behind The Guild Hall.
You can visit this church after or before shopping as this is just across the shopping area.
I like the structures of this church. Inside you can feel the calmnes. You can cry your heart out if you’re going through tough times. It’s nice to stay inside for quite sometime and talk to Him.
Definitely, one of my go-to in town.

A well established church in the centre of Plymouth. Lovingly restored after the trauma of the WW2 blitz on the city. Exquisite stained glass windows illuminate the east and west aspects. Well staffed by knowledgable guides who are keen to answer any questions.

Lovely stained glas windows, some depicting the war damage during WW2. There is another building behind the church, the Prystine House which carries some age. Friendly volunteers, afternoon recitals and meals from midday (check when they're on first). Worth a visit for the history and windows.

I used to belong to this Church, but there was this weird Doctor who attended BCP Holy Communion and he started shouting and screaming because I was there, it sounded like if somebody fell on his neck with a scream! It's a bit strange to say the guy had Holy Cummunion! I then went to this house party away from Plymouth with my wife and he was there! The group didn't make us welcome at all! But they did the weirdo, licked his backside! I left that horrible church and will never return. It is obvious, they're cold and religious, with nasty streaks, especially the Doctor. The good news is that I've never looked back.
If it were possible I'd leave them no stars!

I don't believe in God anymore.....not since I watched my devout Christian mum suffer a living death for 14 months. But, it is a lovely church, very tranquil, well kept, and the people are so friendly. And it must be a wonderful sanctuary for those who treasure religion. I try and get in to watch the Summer recitals every Wednesday at 1.10pm as often as possible. There is something special about live music at lunchtime in a church.....sounds so lovely and very nostalgic for me. I sit and listen in wonderment and my imagination flows freely and releases so much stress and anxiety.....hats of to the Minster for staging them....brilliant. Just wish I still had my Mum.......
Located in Plymouth, Rockfish is a seafood restaurant that offers fresh and sustainable fish and shellfish cooked simply in a New England-style beach shack setting. The restaurant is well-known for its tasty, fresh seafood, and is adjacent to the National Marine Aquarium. In addition to its seafood offerings, the restaurant also has an outdoor Salcombe Brewery Bar.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal here. Having visited a Rockfish at a different location, we knew what to expect and not disappointed. We hadn't booked ahead and staff helpful in finding a free table. I opted for the fish tacos with my husband choosing the Megrim, both being delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly at all times. Decent portion sizes and we didn't need dessert.

Nice lunch, expensive fish and chips. Staff helpful and attentive. Food very nice. Recommend the Skippers brew and I'm not really a tea drinker. Nice view. Pleasant atmosphere. probably go back.

Rockfish - The Barbican Plymouth
Dropped in to this restaurant without a reservation, Martin quickly found us a table professionally without fuss. We were told our servers name Chris and he quickly took our drinks order before expertly explaining how the menu worked and what was on offer.
We decided o smoked haddock, which was came with a lovely jedgere butter sauce. The food was terrific and Ithe chefs should be proud of what they've served. I'd recommend a visit.
The service from Martin and Chris was excellent and the owners of Rockfish should be proud of their staff, their training methods as service counts for so much in these challenging times.
Well done and thanks to all. Can you open a Rockfish in Bournemouth please...such a huge gap in the market for a great fish restaurant with unrivalled service.
Chris was also keen to advise of the online service for available products.
We will visit again, thanks

Set on the edge of the harbour, in a quieter part of Plymouth near the Aquarium. They do Gluten free fish and chips, fried in a separate fryer so perfect for Coeliac. The haddock was great.
We sat in the sun on their deck enjoying our takeaway food. Perfect Bank holiday.

Popped in here for a quick pre Aquarium lunch expecting the usual fish and chip fayre. What a pleasant surprise we got!!! This place is amazing! The food was absolutely outstanding, the menu extensive even without the daily catch options. I opted for silver mullet with a samphire side order and it was grilled to perfection with a beautiful garlic butter reduction. Small had the children’s F and C which was devoured! I did pinch a chip and are definitely some of the best encountered in two weeks down here in the S/W!
The staff here are all incredibly helpful friendly and above all personable abs happy. This makes such a huge positive difference to any dining experience and is something many other places would do to emulate.
Thank you Rockfish, we got a lot more for lunch than we expected and have really enjoyed ourselves! We will definitely be back!

This should be one of the best seafood restaurants in the UK. We love seafood very much, and the chefs at the Rockfish restaurant really understand how to cook every fish that makes the most in texture and favour, never overcooked or over seasoning, just right and perfect. We dine out here 2 times during our 3 days trip, and we really enjoy it.

Wow The BEST FISH and chips I've ever had, Andy the waiter was very friendly and informative. The whitebait was amazing and super fresh. The Batter was really light and crispy and not greasy. Well worth the price and we can't wait to come back again.

The service, atmosphere and quality of food plus general cleanliness of the restaurant and toilets was very good at the Rockfish Plymouth restaurant. My brother in law and I felt the food was well priced for the quality of it, and the portion size was just right. It's my second time to a Rockfish restaurant this year (first being in Dartmouth, who catered for me and my 7yr old daughter very well). I will 100% be returning.

We went today, and I was highly disappointed.
One of the taps in the toilet are broken and there was no soap. No bowls with hot water were served either.
The waiter was new and seemed a little bit lost, bless him.
There were 4 of us, the waiter decided we only needed one menu, and we had to ask for 3 more, we also had to ask for the specials menu separately and no high chair was offered until we asked for one.
My plaice, was swimming in butter when it was served, the scallops have seen better days too.
The food was fresh but the overwhelming amount of butter spoilt it.
We have also paid for the kids package, however that was forgotten and we had to ask for it to be given to us.
Sadly such little things spoil the experience all together.
And I forgot to mention that it took an hour for our food to be served even though it wasn't busy when we arrived.
Sadly I will not be coming back to this place, I have highlighted some of the above to the manager.

Very large restaurant and part of a medium sized chain. Food was well prepared, fresh, and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Prices moderate considering location and food offered.
Looks like it could get a little chaotic when busy... but that's just a guess and I may be doing them a disservice.
Don't forget to order the unlimited chips (fries)!

The customer service at this restaurant was fantastic, the waitress who took care of my experience was professional, well mannered and eager to ensure I had the best experience.
I visited on a Monday night so it was relatively quiet, but the restaurant has a lovely feeling and design with plenty to look at and take in, including an open kitchen.
The food is fantastic quality, I enjoyed every part of it. The only fault I found was that the scallops hadn't been thoroughly cleaned and still retained a significant amount of grit/ sand which couldn't be ignored. The rest of my food was perfect with anchovy butter appertiser being my personal favourite with the light flavour of fish and strong saltyness on the crusty baguette.
The servers are well trained and memorised all of the specials available for the day including the accompaniment and prices (see image where the hostess has marked the table cover) this is a simple and unique way to explain the specials.

Visiting again a Rockfish restaurant, this time in Plymouth - it was great ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The booking was great, they were kind to tolarate our late arrival. Thank you 🙏The service was excellent. Special thanks to Perrie (apologies if I got the name of the lady who served us), as she was super quick in resolving a small issue with one of the starters ⭐
Food 5⭐ Thanks to the chiefs⭐
And finally thanks to all staff for the smiles and cheerful service and help they showed us !
Well done all👏

Tasty fish! You can never go wrong with fresh ingredients, and I love their calamari, so fresh and tender. The service, however, is too slow. I was so hungry. At least, they could give me some chips before the main dishes were ready.

Recently visited Rockfish for the first time and was very impressed. Visited particularly as I really enjoy Hake as opposed to Cod or Haddock. The Hake was cooked beautifully and the endless chips were great too. We also had a 12oz Haddock which was great too
Staff were really friendly and attentive and the cost was quite reasonable too

Went for lunch while visiting family. They selected it saying they had great seafood. There was a total of 7 of us plus kids. It wasn't very busy and service was decent although our server was very new and made several mistakes on our order. But the senior server corrected, apologized and didn't charge us. Our server was definitely trying and with time will do well.
We had an assortment of appetizers and fish main courses. Overall the food was good, fresh and well prepared. They have an extensive selection of fish although the availability changes depending on the catches that week.
Can't speak to the value as we were treated by family but it was definitely an enjoyable lunch and if we had the opportunity to go back we would.

Great atmosphere especially on a sunny day. You'll get a nice breeze even if you are sitting inside.
The portion were huge and satisfying and very nicely cooked. I had Megrim, and it was perfectly tender and not fishy at all... loved every bite. Sauce was just nice enough to compliment the fish but not to cover the taste.
Would love to try other dishes as well if we ever have a chance (we are visiting Plymouth for few days).
Barbican is a vibrant waterside district with charming cobblestone pathways. Local seafood restaurants offer scenic views of small boats in Sutton Harbour, while lively pubs feature live music and televised sports. The area boasts major musical and dramatic productions at the Barbican and Royal theatres, as well as global music events, basketball games, and ice-skating shows at Plymouth Pavilions. This historic harbor quarter showcases Tudor and Jacobean architecture along its partly cobbled streets.
Drake's Island in Plymouth has been off-limits to the public for a long time, but now you can take a boat across Plymouth Sound and explore the island. There are family activity days with various activities like airsoft, abseiling, and survival camps. The tour guides are knowledgeable and engaging, providing insights into the island's history. It's a great place for history enthusiasts and offers a mix of natural beauty and built history.
The tour guide/custodian we had was very insightful and engaging and more than happy to answer any questions. If you're at all interested in history (not just Plymouth's) this is well worth the trip. We had gale force winds so strong we could barely walk and it was still one of the best days of our trip here. Children will love it (especially the dark tunnels and the cannons) and the few dogs on our tour were thoroughly enjoying exploring. This may be tricky for those with limited mobility as it's a decent walk and very uneven but long term plans for the island sound like it will be much improved as time goes on. We will definitely be heading back over if we're ever back in Plymouth to see the next part of this island's history. In short though Views: 10/10 Staff: 10/10. There are toilets on the island but these are the only facilities I recommend bringing a snack and a drink with you or even better a cup of tea.
The boat ride over is relatively short but pleasant and takes you past a lot of the landmarks.

For those seeking adventure and excitement this is not the place for adults and young children and teenagers, for people who like history and a story behind the natural visual of what you see is a 2hr plus adventure 3 to 4 hours is a stretch

We were very disappointed with our visit to the island ... no magic ... no wildlife observation ... limited wonder to the experience .. mainly drawn out stories overloading useless facts or flimsy anecdote, lots of standing around listening to this or regarding dilapidation. A money making spin to enable the current owner to make some money for future investment.
