The Museo di Santa Giulia is an archaeological museum housed in a former Benedictine convent in Lombard City. The museum is home to a range of artefacts from the region's history, including frescoes and archaeological objects dating back 5000 years. The complex is another UNESCO World Heritage Site that is definitely worth a visit.
In a country as Italy, it is difficult to rate archeo museums.
Probably this is not a top destination, but if you are in the area it is worth a visit.
Personally find Roman and Longbard exhibits the most interesting ones.
Beside the exhibits, the quality of the organization is one of the best in Italy

Unreal collection of roman ancient structures and objects, not to mention the bronze-age objects perfectly kept in the museum.
It is part of the Roman Unesco site in Brescia, so you can't miss the museum.

It is indeed a great museum, however, the path to fallow all sections is not clear. You may pass an area twice and miss some other areas. You need to dedicate ~3h to be sure that everything is seen.

Amazing experience! Such a rich and extraordinary exhibition. Eye-opening to see the pieces and collections from 4th millenium BCE and the archaeological aeras.
Highly recommend to visit! Take time, as wandering around the museum and diving into the rich celtic and roman cultural heritage will make you loose track of time. Staff was very helpful in guiding us through the exhibition.

The Santa Giulia Museum is the main museum in Brescia, located in Via dei Musei 81/b, along the ancient decumanus maximus of Roman Brixia. It is housed inside the monastery of Santa Giulia, built by King Desiderio in the Lombard era and variously expanded and modified over more than a thousand years of history.

This is one heck of a museum. Probably the best one in my recent memory. Surprisingly wide selection of artifacts and visual displays, covering from prehistoric era to Roman to middle ages.
I also noticed that the curator placed some contemporary arts next to these old items, making the experience very unique.
When we bought the tickets we were told to expect at least two hours to spend, but I think we could have spent at least half a day easily.
Would wanted to give six stars but took one off because:
1) lack of English-speaking staff - this one was first somewhat inconvenient, but Google translator was helpful to get basic information. For safety reason, though, this might be necessary to guide non-italian speakers in case of emergency.
2) need a better signage and more maps - there are arrow signs for general flow but found them sometimes lost. It’d be nicer to place some maps every few sectors to indicate where we are at and what to do next. Or some audio-guide w/ numbering would help to follow the flow better.
3) need some rest area like cafe- the museum is bigger than it looks and it took quite a while to fully enjoy it. It’d been great to have a small cafe to grab a snack, gelato, or drink in the middle, while resting tired legs.

Definitely a must-see if you’re in Brescia! I bought the combined ticket with the Parco Archaeologico which I recommend doing! You’re not allowed to bring bags into the museum but there are storage lockers to keep your belongings!
Castello di Brescia is an impressive medieval castle with battlements, a tower, drawbridge and ramparts. It also has an arms museum in the keep. The castle is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Brescia, Italy.

Visited here on Dec. 30th. It was a fantastic place to go to. Great view of the city of Brescia. No costs for parking and entrance to the castle. It was astonishing to see a big place like this so incredibly clean. The highlight was, of course, the bronze statues of the apes scattered around the whole area.

The castle is absolutely huge, taking up the entire part of the city. The grounds are free to walk around, we didn't end up going inside at all. It's a little hike to get from the city center to the castle, but the views are worth it, even in winter. Can be accessed from a few sides. Parking is located right at the bottom. Recommend visiting. There is a restaurant located just outside of the castle. Dogs allowed on the grounds.

A compact, robust gem of a painting gallery with truly outstanding works by Moretto, Romanino, Savoldo, Raphael and others. The newly renovated galleries are accentuated by a truly bold choice of velvet wall coverings, shocking at first but ultimately successful. A free audio guide is also available through an app, though some of the selections didn’t seem to be available. Everyone was very friendly, and there is a charming piazza out front. No cafe that I saw, just a small bookstore. Well worth a visit for appreciation of unsung masterpieces from Brescian painters!

Beautiful cars and memorabilia. Could explain and engage more. If you know about old cars and this race it's great but if you are not an expert but want to learn its hard to follow. Directions are bad, you get lost towards the end of the exhibition. Toilets are outside in a sort of shed which is a big contrast to the nice interior of the museum. Big car park and bus stop nearby, restaurant onsite.
Susann Knobloch — Google review
The museum is quite small, but if you are a car enthusiast it will take you around 1.5h to go through it all. It is filled with vintage posters and car memorabilia, plus around 50 cars from the 1920’s to the ‘70s , including some superb Alfas, Fiats and Bugatti. There is also a small display of 4 Mercedes-Benz classics borrowed from the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart.
I love every inch of it, from the building to the cars. There is also a small cafe to relax after the visit.

The Old Cathedral, also known as the Duomo Vecchio or Rotonda, is a 12th-century cathedral in the city of Florence, Italy. The cathedral has a circular shape and is made from local stone. It features medieval frescoes on its walls. The cathedral also has a crypt inside which is supported by reused Roman columns.
It is kind of odd because right in front of the church there is a square where people can eat and drink while some buskers are performing but the atmosphere is really nice and appealing to just sit there and relax while sipping spritz after a long walk. The castello on top of the hill where you can see the whole city, is just 13 minutes away by foot.

Very nice Romanesque cathedral with unique works of art. Beware the opening times as they can be problematic for the average visitor without too much time to spare. The whole church has a permanent exhibition which mostly consists of panels with pictures and explanations on the history of the building. Notable are the crypt and the main chapel behind the high altar: it contains several beautiful pieces of both fresco and painting.
Ludovica Roselli — Google review
This is really something. Different from the newer church. Two stairways lead to the Crypt of San Filastro under the presbytery, which was built in Romanesque times (IX - XI century) making generous use of building materials from Roman ruins. It was part of the first basilica and has a nave and four small aisles ending in three little apses.

Capitolium is the best preserved and most important ancient Roman temple in Italy. It was built around 73 CE, during the Republican period, and was later restored during the second quarter of the 20th century. The archaeological site now offers visitors a glimpse into significant inscribed stone tablets from this period.
Beautifully partial restored temple dating from the Roman period 1st century BC. Free to walk around the temple and coliseum, definitely recommend. Not often you can visit such places for free. UNESCO sight. Dogs allowed.

The Capitolium of Brixia or the Temple of the Capitoline Triad in Brescia was the main temple in the center of the Roman town of Brixia (Brescia). It is represented at present by fragmentary ruins, but is part of an archeological site, including a Roman amphitheatre and museum in central Brescia.

Piazza della Loggia is a square in Brescia, Italy, dating back to the 14th century. It is surrounded by beautiful Renaissance buildings and houses a 1500s clocktower. The Venetian influence can be seen in the fancy Loggia and the Torre dell'Orologio, which is modeled after Venice's Campanile. Sono andato l’ultima volta per la premiazione del concorso presepi e così ho avuto occasione di entrare in una sala bellissima, con una collezione di ritratti, non so se aperta o chiusa al pubblico.

Via dei Musei in Brescia is a must-visit for those interested in delving into the city's rich history. It is renowned as the largest Roman archaeological area in northern Italy, offering a glimpse into Brescia's ancient past. The street spans 800 meters and is home to significant remnants of the city's history, including the Capitoline Temple, Roman amphitheatre, and old forum.
The Winter Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, also called the Old Cathedral or La Rotonda due to its circular design, is a Romanesque church situated in Brescia. It is located close to Duomo Nuovo (New Cathedral) at Piazza Paolo VI. Initially, the Old Cathedral was built after demolishing the early Christian structure of Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore de Dom that existed since the 7th century.
It's a simply beautiful cathedral, it was built next to the very old church, great place to visit in town.

Very beautiful and magnificent. The Duomo Nuovo or New Cathedral is the largest Catholic church in Brescia. Construction was begun in 1604 at the site. Work slowly but sporadically restarted on construction, the final completion came in the nineteenth century. The present dome was rebuilt after destruction during the World War II.

Very nice but beware of the super long lunch break, 12-15 they're closed. It's worth a visit to go see both the new and the old cathedral. It's very interesting to see how the new cathedral the marble is cracked all around due to the several wars witnessed by the city. The old church has some beautiful frescoes behind the altar that are definitely worth checking!

Beautiful building in a plaza with lots of good food and drink options nearby. The old church dates from about 1,000AD and the new one was built over approximately 200 years!

I have long loved the neighbouring medieval Duomo Vecchio but have recently come to appreciate its newer (1608-1825 from memory) companion. The altar/chapel by Vantini is most impressive but, on recent visits, I have also found myself enjoying the overall space and form of the Duomo Nuovo.

Undoubtedly the most beautiful ancient square in Italy. Nice and friendly with free WI-FI
The catholic church Saint Maria of Miracles features a beautiful facade and interesting frescoes. It is a spiritual place that is revered by many people, including Winston Churchill.
The ornately carved portico on the main facde (1500) is a fitting prelude to the beautiful and unique interior that suffered great damage during the allied bombardments in WWII.

(Translated by Google) Cataloged among the Italian architectural masterpieces, the church, «a jewel of Lombard Renaissance architecture, has a complex façade, which in the very ornate central part is due to various artists of the region», sixteen sculptors worked on the decorations, including Gaspare da Cairano, Antonio della Porta and Giovan Battista and Giovanni Stefano da Sesto. The four domes of the church are hidden by the tiburium and an octagonal apse. It was Carlo Borromeo who, in his historic visit to Brescia at the beginning of 1580, ordered that the fifteenth-century votive fresco of the Madonna and Child be placed inside the Sanctuary then under construction.
