Praia de Samil is a beautiful, long beach that residents and visitors to Vigo can enjoy. It has many facilities and activities available for visitors, as well as stunning views of the Illas Cies. The blue color of the sea is a sight to behold!

Edit to review that follows. We realised on the way home that my son lost a silver bangle similar to photo. If anyone finds it in their visit please contact using Google id. ☺️Lovely beach, wide sand bank with bars dotted along. Great swimming pool for under 12s at last bus stop. Only 25 min bus ride from city centre - Google maps says it’s over an hour which is incorrect.

Better go to Cangas or somewhere else. After seeing tens of Galician beaches this one wasn't impressive because the water is dirty and isn't for swimming in my opinion. But for sunbathing the beach is enough and there are also small parks around. Toilets and showers are available too

Playa del Vao is a vast local beach famous for its pristine white sand and adjacent park. The beach offers a plethora of cafes and eateries that are perfect for enjoying the beautiful scenery. The beach's ambiance is exceptional, and visitors can relish in the outstanding views from the restaurant. The seafood at this excellent eatery is incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, providing good value for money.
The water is perfect, a bit warm and clean... the sand is good .. the Beach has a shower area and toilet. the restaurant is so close there and the bus stop. I hope in the future they'll put a sign "Save the animals in the sea,Do not litter"...

Beautiful beach! Probably my favorite beach I visited in Vigo. The sand was white and soft. A picture perfect beach that was a long stretch along the water and also to the water making it perfect for strolling. The water is also shallow which is nice for relaxing and wading. The Museo Quinones de Leon in Vigo is a fascinating museum of Galician aristocracy that contains furniture, art, and more from the 18th to 20th centuries. It's well worth a visit, especially if you're interested in Spanish culture. The museum has beautiful gardens to wander around as well.
A great discovery! On the first floor there is a little archeological exhibition, the museum is very well taken care of, you can visit all the different rooms and see the paintings. Outside there is an amazing French and English style gardens. The little duck pond was a lovely surprise.

Casco Vello is the historical district of Vigo and boasts stunning Renaissance-style buildings. A notable landmark in this area is the Concatedral de Santa María church, which contains beautiful frescoes from the 19th century. Visitors can climb up Rua Baixada O Forte's stone steps to get to a garden overlooking the harbor or stroll through cobbled lanes that lead to Plaza de la Constitución - a grand square surrounded by artisan shops.
Monumento aos Cavalos is a stunning sculpture created by the renowned sculptor Juan Oliveira in 1991. Standing tall at a height of 18 meters and weighing around 40 tons, this masterpiece captures the beauty of nature through five horses galloping down a spiral waterfall. The water gracefully flows down from the feet of the horses, adding to the realism and magnificence of the sculpture.

An impressive sculpture on the horizon as you walk up the street towards it. The horses ooze energy and vibrancy, captured in their skywards dance. It’s in the middle of the traffic circle so pedestrian access is not safely possible- a pity because a photo with the horses would have been memorable.

Nestled in the alleys of the Old Town, not easily found unless you look up for the spires ( or use Google maps 😁). A plain stone church with a modest inside - personally I find more fitting for the religion than the ornate and ostentatious alters we have seen in many other churches around Europe.

Nice on the inside, but Spain has so many beautiful Cathedrals that it rates a 3 of 5 on my scale from a visual opulence point of view only (I.e. no historical importance added to this rating).
The Museo do Mar de Galicia is a contemporary museum showcasing natural, cultural, industrial and historical exhibits. Some really good artefacts set out very well. Friendly staff, but very little labeled up in English, lots of guess work when looking at the displays, still worth a visit though. Check opening times.
Simon Thomas — Google review
The museum is interesting despite not being very thoroughly curated.
Lot of exhibits were lacking in-depth explaination, and the cards in the acquarium were only loosely related to the fish actually there, some missing in the descriptions, some in the tanks...
The temporary exhibit included some interesting equipment (most of it not really "museum grade", you can find better 'bitacoras' in antique shops around the town), the submarine section was awesome with its original unique torpedo buoy and maritime rescue equipment. The biological cabinet is an interesting addiction despite lacking a unified discourse about the topic.
The second, larger, room holds some interesting boats and models, while the lower floor -that we could only quickly visit- showcases some cool artifacts and finds about the maritime archaeology and anthropological history of Galicia.
My main complaint is about the management of the place.
The personnell is kind and caring, but the extremely convoluted suggested visit path for the musum is explained just through a quick rundown at the ticket desk, directions in the museum are non-existant.
Oh, and the main issue: opening hours. That is the worst, a joke.
Museum is open 11–14, 17–20. There is no way to visit temporary and permanent exhibits, the archeological floor, the biological cabinet, the acquarium in just one morning or afternoon.
Visiting with a young kid we needed to take our time to explain many of the exhibits, so at some point we had to rush through part of the collections to have a chance to see the acquarium before closing time.
I am at a loss trying to understand why the opening time is not continuous throughout the day, and will not come back until they fix this major issue.

Lovely museum and cheap entry at €5. A full tour will take 90mins to two hours and comprises two buildings, an aquarium and an outdoor area where you can see the fishing boats and the lighthouse.
The museum is bright and air-conditioned and the lady on reception spoke excellent English though I replied in Spanish as wanted to test that too. There was a school tour at the time but they were well behaved and respectful the couple of times our paths crossed, something that doesn't happen often due to the yellow arrows marking the way.
Only one large room includes English translation of the Galician fishing industry and the rest just in Spanish and Gallego. There was a huge conservation exhibit with lots of preserved animals and plants. Plenty to see and would have liked more on the Armada/Drake.

If you’re not into museum, it’s worth getting there just for the building itself. Modern architecture and a building that fits in the environment. Located in between 2 beaches and a stretch that leads to a lighthouse, with a nice café/restaurant that serves delicious dishes.
When I visited, there was a temporary photo exhibition about the Portuguese Camino to Santiago de Compostela. Mix of 19th, 20th and 21st century photos.
The permanent exhibition tells you all about the Galician fishing industry which is interesting considering the many changes due to geopolitical events throughout the periods of time.

Beautiful place for breakfast and people watching out in the sunshine. The menu board outside was in Spanish. Server did not speak English so I asked for a menu and a Cafe Americano. I got my Cafe Americano plus a small piece of cake but no silverware. The table next to me got silverware. No problem. I was hungry and I used my fingers to pick up the cake. It was good. I waited for the menu. It never came and neither did my Server. A male server buzzed around the other tables. I was a little nervous about how expensive that little piece of cake was going to be. Finally I went inside to pay and the cashier didn't speak English either. The cake was free! The coffee was either 1Euro 30 or 1Euro 80. Can't remember. Lovely surprise!
Another interesting experience in cultural differences. I've noticed most locals only have coffee and some sort of baked item for breakfast. I decided that I would simply call that my breakfast and have a generous lunch later.
