Beautiful palace.
There isn't a lot to do here. The whole visit takes less than 10 mins. However, I would recommend visiting the palace as it is very pretty. Looking up the history online can be helpful during your visit.

The Reconstruction of this marvelous building is now completed and with its polished look it is looking like taj mahal complex, this is a simple presantation of love and peace from mohabbatkhan nawab of Junagadh, and creatice support by his brother un low Bahauddin Bhai.
These mausoleums are known for amalgamation of Indo-Islamic styles (mainly Gujarat Sultanate and Mughal) with considerable European (Gothic) influence.
These mausoleums have the carvings on its inner and outer façades and arches with yellowish light brown exterior. They have onion-shaped domes, French windows, sculptures, marble tracery work, marble columns, marble jalis and silver doorways. The minarets on four sides of one of these mausoleums has winding staircases around them.[3]

At a distance of 1 km from Junagadh Junction, Mahabat Maqbara is a mausoleum situated in Mullawada locality of Junagadh. Also called Mausoleum of Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai, it is one of the historical monuments in Gujarat and among the prime places to visit in Junagadh.
Often considered as the most imposing architectural monument in Junagadh, Mahabat Maqbara was originally the residential palace of Babi Nawabs. The construction of the palace was started by Mahabat Khanji in 1878 CE and was completed by his successor Bahadur Kanji in 1892 CE. The palace complex is now houses the tombs of Mahabat Khan II, the 6th Nawab of Junagadh and Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai, the minister of Nawab Rasul Khanji.
Both mausoleums at Mahabat Maqbara palace complex are the fine examples of art and architecture, typical of the late 19th century royal monuments of Junagadh. Mahabat Maqbara, the mausoleum of Mahabat Khan, is a fusion of Indo-Islamic, European and Gothic architecture and was built in 1982 CE by Bahadur Khan III for his father Mahabat Khan II. The most striking feature of the monuments is its floor-to-lintel French windows and the Gothic columns alongside silver inner doors. It also boasts of an intricate cluster of bulbous domes supported by columns built in Gothic style.
Standing on the left of the Mahabat Maqbara is the elaborately designed Bahauddin Maqbara, the tomb of Wazir Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai. It was constructed by Sheikh Bahauddin with his own funds during the period 1891-1896 AD. A sight to behold, the Bahauddin Maqbara resembles the Taj Mahal in structural design, with its bubbled domes and four minarets on the four corners with whirling spiral staircase. The minarets have rich stone carvings and large silver doors. A cautious climb up the narrow stairs gives an awe-inspiring view of the domes and other vintage buildings in the neighbourhood. There are also a number of Haveli's inside the Maqbara which have some best wooden carvings and jharokhas which resemble the Gujarat domestic architecture.
The Mahabat Maqbara is generally kept under lock and key, but can be glimpsed into by obtaining the keys from the mosque situated beside the mausoleum.

An intriguingly beautiful gem hidden away in a quaint sleepy town of Junagadh.
A mix of intricate elements from European-Gothic-Indian architecture and the white and golden color makes it extremely attractive!
Dedicated to Nawab Mahabat Khan II and a second monument adjacent to this, for his minister.
A must visit with a hassle free entry ticket of just 20/- per adult. Pause and enjoy the stillness and beauty of the place!

Located near Junagadh railway station, very beautiful building and unique architecture, renovation work is going on and hopefully it will look more beautiful after the completion of the renovation. The most important spot to visit in Junagadh after girnar. It's worth your time if you are interested in heritage buildings and architecture.

The architecture is very beautiful, the surroundings are messy and dirty. The place is under renovation so unless you can talk the workers into letting you in, you will have to be content with views from outside.
Once renovated and if the surroundings are clean, this place could be a good crowd puller.
It is walking distance from the Junagadh bus stand and a stone's throw away from the railway station.

About the location: This stunning mausoleum of Nawab Mahabat Khan II of Junagadh (1851–82) seems to bubble up into the sky in the old city. One of Gujarat’s most glorious examples of Euro-Indo-Islamic architecture, with French windows and Gothic columns, its lavish appeal is topped off by its silver inner doors. The minarets on the sides have spiral steps going up to the top of the tower.

Bahauddin Maqbara has been built over the tomb of Sheikh Muhammad Bahauddin, who was the Diwan in Junagadh during 19th century. The Maqbara exhibits architectural splendour during the Babi Dynasty.
The speciality of this Maqbara is the ornate minars at the four corners of the Maqbara have spiral stairs externally to climb, which is unlike any other minars.
The architectural style and carvings of the Maqbara reflects the fusion of of Islamic and Hindu art. Finely carved arches, jalis(screen) made of marble, various decorative designs, round shaped central dome at the top and and small dome on the four corners of the roof adorn the Maqbara.
The Mahabat Maqbara was built on the tomb of Nawab Mahabat Khan-II by the Diwan of Junagadh, Bahauddin. Mahabat Khan Maqbara is a classic example of the fusion of the Hindu the Islamic and the Western architectural style.
This Maqbara has a central dome surrounded by a variety of smaller domes. On the outside of the Maqbara, various carvings including flowers, window-like structures, domes etc. can be found.

A fort and town was established at the foothills of Girnar hill during reign of the Maurya Empire. Abhira Chudasama King Graharipu Ahir (r. c.940-c.982) cleared the old structure from the jungle. and laid the foundations of the new citadel. Dewan of Junagadh State, Haridas Viharidas had restored the fort In 1893-94. Government of Gujarat initiated restoration of the fort and the structures inside it In July 2020.
Structures -
Jumma Masjid built by Mahmud Begada.
The Tomb of Nuri Shah is close to the mosque.
There are two Wells in the Uparkot — the Adi Kadi Vav is descended by a long flight of steps; and the Navghan Kuvo, cut to a great depth in the soft rock, and with a circular staircase.
Uparkot Caves are 2nd-3rd century double storeyed Buddhist cave complex located in the Uparkot.

History: Said to have been built in 319 BC, the fort was the architectural work of Chandragupta. But the fort changed many hands. Remnants of different rulers can be seen in some parts of the structure. For example, on the rampart above the gate is an inscription of Mandalika III, dated 1450. Another emblem is in the form of a 10 inch bore cannon of bell-metal - 17 feet long and 4 feet 8-inch round at the mouth. This gun was brought from Diu, where it was left by the Ottoman Turks when they were defeated in the Siege of Diu in the mid-16th century.

The fort has two fine step-wells both cut from solid rock. The circular, 41m-deep Adi Kadi Vav was cut in the 15th century and named after two slave girls who used to fetch water from it. Navghan Kuvo, 52m deep and designed to help withstand sieges, is almost 1000 years old and its magnificent staircase spirals around the well shaft. Look for the centuries-old dovecotes.

It is a great historical place, but the government has changed it to a commercial place by building Game Zones, Food Zones, Sports & Entertainment Zones inside the fort. They just vanished the original beauty of the historical fort. I am not recommending visiting Uparkot now.

Located near Sonrakh River Bridge on the Junagadh-Rajkot highway in Junagadh city.
Considered one of the prime Junagadh tourist attractions, the zoo authorities are famed for having wild and free moving Asiatic lions that have been wiped out from most of Asia and are nowadays found only in the nearby Gir Forest. Apart from the Asiatic Lions, the Junagadh Zoo is home to 700 mammalian species, 115 reptiles, and 200 hundred birds. Chowsingha or the four-horned antelopes, Indian Leopards, chital, sambar, blackbucks, black panther, hippopotamus, Crocodiles, Ostriches, spotted deer, flying squirrel, monkey, etc. are the main animal species found in the zoo.
Lush-green Ravantad tad palms, foxtail palms, tall Ashoka trees, and large banyan trees visible from the busy road add to the beauty of the zoo’s general surroundings which otherwise resemble that of the Gir forest, the last abode of Asiatic lions in the world. They've taken away the tigers as they were nowhere to be seen during the visit. As of the conditions of animals were not in a proper manner. Wildlife should be protected at any cost as they are very essential for our mother nature. Taking utmost care of them and providing necessary facilities will do a little part on ourselves to ensure the beautiful mother nature.

The relics which were in the old Durbar Hall Museum have not been brought to the new museum and the Durbar Hall which was there is nothing special in the new museum, everything else is good, but the weapons, glass utensils, from the reign of the Nawabo of Junagadh. The show pitch, the old furniture and much more are worth seeing. You go and visit here.

Good collection of artifacts used during Nawabs of Junagadh. 25 /- per person. It took 1 hour. 100/- per camera. Worth visiting if you are in Junagadh City and you have some buffer time.

Ordinary place for those who want to know the culture of the king's era...
Entry ticket per person is only 5 rs per person and for photography 100 rs..
But you might not need to take photos at this cost...
As a tourist you can skip this place if you don't have much time and want to cover other places in junagadh...
Otherwise the culture, tradition and those ancient items of that time like weapons, sarees, shawl, silver items will attract you...

This is the only museum in Junagadh dedicated to the Babi dynasty who ruled this state from 1730 to 1948. The museum was moved from the Nawabs' palace in the Old town to a small and rather miserable castle, because since 1948 the Indian administration did not care at all to maintain the ancient monuments (even the Royal Palace !) and let them fall into ruins.
Yet the nababs deserved much better. The benefits of this regime for Junagadh was immense (arts, architecture, education, government, technical progress etc.). Although the last Babi King, Mohammad Mahabat Khanji III, made the mistake to join Pakistan at the time of Indian independence, he was a good ruler and a good man. According to Sir Cyril Hancock, the former Resident of Western States, the Nawab was well loved by his people and the state was well administered. Hancock had a high opinion of Nawab's personal qualities. He established a kind of welfare state. During his reign, the Nawab oversaw the opening of the Willingdon Dam, the construction of the Bahadur Khanji Library (named after his ancestor, the first Nawab) and the opening of the Mahabat Khan Free College.
The city of Jnagadh became one of the most beautiful cities in India with a lot of outstanding buildings which were not properly maintained and completely neglected after 1948 and as far as 2023, when a few of these buildings were finally restored.
Mahabat Khanji was widely known for his love of animals, particularly dogs. At one point, he owned over 2000 high-pedigree dogs. However, Mahabat Khanji's love for animals also extended to the regional wildlife, particularly the Asiatic lion, which at the time was on the verge of extinction in India. The Nawab helped to forestall this by preserving vast tracts of the Gir forest in order to provide the lions with a stable habitat.
In fact, the museum is not a "Junagadh Museum", but rather a Museum of the Nawabs' rule. One of the many proofs that the current hindu administration wants to destroy the memory of the Indian muslim history, tradition and civiization. Another example is the ridiculous historical falsification of the Uparkot fort where there is not one single mention of the Babi kings and where they want us to believe that the beautiful Jama mosque was the palace of the legendary Ranakdevi queen who never existed just because "locals" believe that !

Housed in the beautiful old palace of Junagadh, the Durbar Hall Museum is one of the best museums in Gujarat as it preserves the treasures of the rulers of Junagadh. The Durbar Hall was the court for the former Nawabs of Junagadh and was later converted into a museum to preserve the wealth of the Junagadh Maharajas. The magnificent collection is owned by the 19th century Nawabs who were discovered here years ago.

Darbar Hall Museum preserves the treasures of the Junagarh rulers Nawabs of Junagadh. Darbar Hall Museum houses different galleries exhibiting around 2900 artefacts- picture gallery, palanquin room, textile & costumes gallery, weapons gallery and Picture gallery.
The artefacts like weapons, armour, palanquins, sparkling chandeliers, howdahs, diamond woven carpets, photos, gowns, silver items, jewellery and paintings that depict the lifestyles of the Nawabs are the major highlights of the museum.
There are displays of textiles and of arms. Further developments are planned, but much work is required on the fabric of the building and displays to bring it up to the standards.
The surroundings of the attraction also need a lot of uplifting. Currently it seems very shabby.
Attractions: Weapons, Armour, Palanquins, Chandeliers, Howdahs from the Days of the Nawabs, Huge Carpet Woven in Junagadh's Jail, Photos of the Last Nawab with his Numerous Beloved Dogs.

Best collection of heritage weapons, especially revolvers and pistols that i have seen anywhere in India....This is a small but very unique museum. Walls are adorned with majestic lifesize portraits of erstwhile rules. Overall a very well maintained museum, which gives you a heritage feel from the moment you walk in.. Also worth a look on the first floor is a rare collection of elephant saddles.

Adi Kadi Vav, also known as Adi Chadi Vav, is a stepwell situated within the Uparkot Fort in Junagadh, Gujarat, India. The exact date of its construction remains unknown but it is believed to be a Nanda type of stepwell that was carved out of solid rock instead of being built. Access to the well shaft involves descending 166 steps within a narrow corridor while observing the visible rock strata on the eroded walls.
Adi Vav or Adi-Kadı is a East-West direction Vav (stepwell) which is about 35 metres deep and has 195 steps.
This is one of the oldest step wells, believed to be of 11th century, is made by carving parallel rocks. The place has been recently renovated and a good place to visit.
It is believed that two girls named Eti-Cheti were sacrificed in this well.
The well is located inside Uparkot Fort and presents an unique opportunity for photography. It is best visited in the mid day time for best lighting of the rocks.
To visit this place one need to buy entry tickets for Uparkot Fort which is Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children.

This is a architectural marvel of the old time. Water was polluted with plastic bags and bottles. People need to keep such places clean.

Adi-kadi Vav, built in the 15th century, is carved entirely out of hard rock.
A narrow flight of 120 stairs cuts down through the stone to meet the well shaft deep in the stone. Two different legends claim to explain the name of the well. One says that the king ordered a stepwell to be built and workers excavated down into this hard stone, but no water was found. The royal priest said that water would only be found if two unmarried girls were sacrificed. Adi and Kadi were the unlucky ones chosen for this and after their sacrifice, water was found. The other story, less fantastic but probably more likely, claims that Adi and Kadi were the names of the royal servant girls who fetched water from the well every day.
Either way, people still hang cloth and bangles on a tree nearby in their memory.

Jatashankar Mahadev temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and located on the Mountain Girnar in Junagadh. Devotee can reach this temple via old stairs of Giranar, after climbing few stairs; this temple is located on the right side of road in huge cave. It is believed that this is spontaneous and extraordinary Shivlinga. This Shivlinga is naturally bathed by the water flowing from the Girnar. Thus this temple is perfect combination of spirituality and nature. It is Abode of peace. From the lowland of Girnar, this temple is 500 steps up. You have to walk in to lush green gir forest. You can enjoy local food items on the way to temple such as green tamarind, hot and sour Kawa, forest fruits, Boiled sweet corns and much more.
Please Beware of Monkeys. Group of monkeys are waiting for you to welcome you. If you are carrying any food items in your hands, it may a chance that monkeys can snatch away the food packets.
Points to be considered:
1. When you are in monsoon season keep dry food items with you.
2. Take umbrella or raincoat with you.
3. Take minimum luggage load.
4. Extra pair of clothes, if you want to take bath in water fall.
5. Lunch is available at temple free of cost.
6. Wear sports shoes as road is slippery during rainy season.
7. Mobile network may be hampered.
8. Avoid to take samll children or else extra precautions should be taken.

A sacred body of water known as Damodar Kund is located on the path to Girnar temple from Junagadh. This lake features a temple and idols that are revered by Hindus for ceremonial bathing and immersing the bones of the dead. Many devotees visit this holy site to take part in these rituals, which are widely observed by Gujaratis in honor of their deceased family members. It is a significant pilgrimage destination that draws numerous visitors seeking spiritual purification and connection with their cultural heritage.

Damodar Kund is one of the sacred lakes according to Hindu beliefs, located at the foothills of Girnar Hills near Junagadh in Gujarat, India. At the foot of Ashwatthama Hill in the Girnar Mountains, south of Damodara Kund, is the Damodar Hari Temple. The idols here are said to have been installed by Vajranabha, the grandson of Lord Shri Krishna who is also credited with the Dwarkadhish temple and many others. Historically, these temples are said to have been built or renovated by a Suryavanshi ruler named Chandraketpur, who is also credited with building the Shiva temples at Bhavnath, a testament to his tolerance of all belief systems. The site was renovated during the reign of King Skand Gupta of the Gupta dynasty in 462 AD.
Lord Damodar here is considered by Vaishnavais as Adhipati of Girnar Kshetra. The temple covers an area of 13 hectares and is built of pink sandstone. It consists of an inner Nij Mandir and an outer Solaha Mandapa, each surmounted by a shikar and supported by a series of some 84 intricately carved pillars. Shikhar of Nij Mandir is 20m high and Shikhar of Sabhha Mandap is 9.1m high. The Damodarji statue is in the form of Chaturbhuj, each arm holding a conch, disc, mace and lotus, with Sri Radha Rani. Both idols are carved from black stone and heavily decorated with gold and silk. There are other sub-shrines dedicated to Lord Balarama, Sri Revati and Lord Ganesha. There are several other ancient temples nearby with both lit and extinct temple complexes.
Devotees take a holy bath in the Damodar Kund holy bath tank before praying in the temple. The Sewa of Shri Damodarji is performed here in the Samprant-Yug by the Vaishnav tradition. Shri Damodarji is the Ishtdev of the Giri Narayan Brahmin community and several other local communities. According to traditional belief, the Giri Narayan community has been living here since about 12,000 years ago.
