Passeig de la Muralla offers a unique experience to walk along the reconstructed parts of the medieval walls, providing a scenic path around the east side of the city. The walkway allows visitors to enjoy stunning views while immersing themselves in the historical significance of the area.
Girona Cathedral is a large, impressive building made of many different styles of architecture. It is one of the most famous and popular tourist destinations in the region. The cathedral has a wide Gothic nave that is larger than any other Gothic church in the world.
One of the most important cathedrals in Europe. a very interesting place that is worth the detour. Not to be missed, the carpet of creation. one of the most beautiful pieces of art you can see. Wonderful

Girona was originally on my plan, on my way to Barcelona to Marseille, I made a stop for lunch, and the quick lunch turned out to be a whole afternoon leisure. I stayed at the Cathedral of Girona for over 2.5 hours, appreciating its architecture wonder. It has the widest nave of 23 meters for any cathedral in the world. It also collected the tapestry of creation treasure, the 1000 year old tapestry was still having the brightest colors you could imagine, with the design and story behind the tapestry. It is truly a masterpiece collection! The cathedral was very quiet on a Monday afternoon, only less than a dozen people inside. I was a very pleasant surprise visit of the cathedral! 🙏🙏🙏Cheers!😃😃😃

Beautiful structure.. the immense size is breathtaking. Structure is lit up at night.. entirely different feel. Recommend visiting both day and nighttime.

An impressive cathedral. As you climb the many steps to the entrance, you are in awe of this beautiful and grand building. Part of the Game of Thrones series was also filmed here. Nice little town.

This church in Girona is truly majestic and one of the main attractions for visitors. It is one of the best churches I have seen in Europe. The Cathedral of Girona is a thousand-year-old building famous for its historical significance and its appearances in film and television. The building is located at the highest point of the old city of Girona, known as the "Old Force," and is protected by a set of walls and ramparts. The Gothic nave, tower of Charlemagne, cloister, and sacristy remain from its Romanesque period in the mid-11th century.

The ‘Catedral de Girona’ is one the most impressive architectural buildings in the whole region. The church lays imposing at the top of a beautiful, long staircase - the best spot for portrait pictures, of course. I recommend going early to avoid too much wait.

This Gothic Cathedral is certainly a sight to behold. Beyond its beauty, it is so rich in history, so be sure to pick up an audio guide on your way in. Entrance is 7 euros, which includes entrance to the basilica as well. The Cathedral has many beautiful and majestic pieces of tapestry draped over its walls, so take your time to enjoy that and the rest of the art displayed throughout the space. Definitely a must-visit during your stay in Girona.

WOW! This is the widest cathedral I have ever seen. It's the second widest in the world, after St. Peter's basilica in Vatican! Its dimensions hit you when you arrive in the square, it's enormously beautiful. The painted glass windows are exquisite, very well maintained. Take the audio guide, it's free and very informative.

Stunning cathedral, really glad I decided to go in! (versus only taking a photo of the famous steps) It's the tallest cathedral nave in Europe and has amazing stained glass. The audio guide is great and included with ticket entry. They also do student discount. Come in the afternoon to avoid the crowds, as the coach tours have gone home in the afternoon and there's several cafes still open in Girona at that time.

Visiting the Girona Cathedral is a must if you're in Girona. I visited other great churches and cathedrals throughout my travels, but for some reason, this one took my breath away as soon as I walked through the door. It must be the sound of the organ playing, mixed with the dark setting and the overwhelming size of the interior. It's hard to describe. You have to see it for yourself!
JF Piché — Google review
One of the most important cathedrals in Europe, it is simply impressive. Being a fan of Game of Thrones, I had to visit it. It was a great experience to see it laying at the top of a gorgeous, long staircase. This is definitely a must-see place in Girona! I would love to come back soon, probably not in Temps of Flors due to the amount of people.

Beautiful cathedral! Amazing architecture! It’s located right on top of the hill, so the roof can be seen from far away. It’s surrounded by small cafes, so you could have a drink and enjoy the architecture.

Beautiful gothic cathedral. Popular due to Game of Thrones, but inside is where most of the beauty is. Love their stained glass of St Michael Archangel, the huge tapestry, the cloister with a tower of lombard design. Just beautiful.

Went to Girona in November 2023 for a University Trip, was absolutely gorgeous and so quiet even though it was a Thursday! 100% recommend if you want a holiday without all the noisy tourists, a lot of steep hills and walking so if you’re a bit older or have a few kids probably not great but if you don’t mind the walking it’s a lovely area, plenty of shops and cafes further back in the towny area, this was about a 15-25 min walk from the shops and stuff but that area wasn’t horrifically crowded, pretty average I would say, so overall a lovely area and perfect for travels ^^

The cathedral is the jewel in the crown, the old town is steeped in history with it's many narrow streets and tall buildings but sitting high above them all is the magnificently built Cathedral, the entrance ticket is 7.50 euros as of November 2023, and it is worth paying just from the visual aspect, but will the tickets price you get an electronic guide that you hold up to your ear, thankfully these ones work really well and easy to use and the information is clear and short and very well explained, so give it a big thumbs up

Better come early as the entrance closes pretty early as well. However still good to see from outside especially during sunset. Gorgeous view. Need a bit of walking as the streets were really narrow.
This museum tells the story of Judaism in Girona, Catalunya, through exhibits on religion and culture. There is also a gift shop where visitors can purchase items related to the Jewish community. The museum is proud of its Jewish heritage and does not shy away from less salubrious aspects of history such as Inquisition persecution and forced conversions.
Nearly all artifact explanations in three languages. Provided otherwise hard to find site based insight regarding the brief two centuries peace before the 1492-3 persecutions. Steep Geography of Surrounding neighborhoods compliment the depictions of daily 14th C living in exhibits.

I visited this Museo on 18/12/22. Weeks later I find myself still reflecting on it. I’ve been to similar museums but ultimately I found this one rather exceptional. It has great information and translations are in Castellano, Catalán, and English. I would allow for 45min to 1.5 hr for the visit. Additionally the very sweet and kind lady work the desk first thing in morning was delightful and professional. Make this a stop if your in Griona.

This was one of the museums I definitely wanted to visit while being in Girona. Extremely interesting, very well located and have 2 exhibitions: one temporary (which is free) and the permanent (2-4 euros/person). The temporary is not available in English, only the handbook, but the permanent can be followed in English. Walking through history, with the amazing audio guide I understood more about Jewish people and their culture and past. 10/10 recommend!

The Pont de les Peixateries Velles in Girona, also known as the Eiffel Bridge, is a distinctive footbridge over the Onyar River. It was constructed in 1877 by renowned French engineer Gustave Eiffel and his company using red iron-work lattice frames. The bridge is an important landmark of Catalan art and architecture gallery, Josep Bracons.
There's several bridges that can take you across the Onyar River between the old and new sides of Girona. Most of them are pretty standard, but this one is unique with its red lattice frame.
If you're crossing back and forth, you should at least make a point to take this footbridge at least once to check it out as well as views of the river.

Pont de les Peixateries Velles - A remarkable architectural wonder: the Eiffel Bridge in Girona, Spain with a great view at the colourful houses at the Riverside.
The Eiffel Bridge was constructed where four rivers meet. Girona has got eleven bridges!! The most famous is the one that was constructed by Gustave Eiffel - The Girona Steel Bridge (painted in Red) was built in 1876 by Gustav Eiffel, a French engineer with German roots.

A bridge designed by Eiffel, who designed the Eiffel Tower in France. It had a similar steel structure and was very unique in that it did not fit in with its surroundings. It is a must see if you go to Girona.

I don't know why people say this is a beautiful place worth visiting! This is just a metal bridge (for pedestrians), nothing more than that. Even though it was made by the guy who built the Eiffel Tower in Paris; guess because of that.

Absolutely loved visiting Girona, the town was clean and a beautiful place to visit.
We ate at one of the plaza restaurants and then had cookies from the Guilty Cookies.
The food and service at the restaurant were both absolutely incredible.
Girona offers a plethora of activities, but some of the most cherished experiences include savoring wine while basking in the sun, taking in the picturesque views from the unique bridges that span the Onyar River, and indulging in delectable tapas. Consider renting a car to explore the charming nearby towns and Costa Brava coastline.
The 'must-see' point of any trip to Girona, this picturesque raw of houses by the canal, with their intense colors, will remind you of other sites in Europe, like Bruges or Venice.
Despite, sorry to say, that the majority are much debilitated and hence inhabitable, they still they offer a wonderful scenery that changes according to the light.

Banys Àrabs is a majestic Romanesque-style public bath complex built in 12th century in the city of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. The baths were founded by King Alfons I after he had toured the famous Baths of Rome. The complex features two large pools, each with a different purpose: one was designed for therapeutic bathing and the other for relaxation purposes.
Well presented Romanesque building, giving you a great insight of how they worked and what they would have been like back in the day.
Costs a few euros to look around (students get a discount) and only takes around 30 minutes of so to see it all.
Well worth a visit while you're in Girona, especially if you're a Game of Thrones fan.

The Girona Arab Bath is a historical site that is a must-visit location in Girona. I visited the bath with a group of tourists from Barcelona on our journey to Girona, and it was worth the visit. Do not expect too much from it just because it was in the popular TV series Game of Thrones, and there is nothing colorful or beautiful about this place other than its historical value. Historically, the baths were built in the 12th century as Roman-style baths and have been well-maintained so visitors can admire the medieval public bath.

Only if you are a history nerd or a Game of Thrones fan, I would recommend visiting the bath house. Otherwise, for 3 euros per person, there isn't much to see. The whole visit lasted less than 30 minutes, including taking time to read about each room and taking pictures.
Note: when visited on December 9, they only accepted credit cards and not cash.

Interesting and lovely place to visit. Right in the centre of the old town, which is just brilliant. Stroll around, visiting world-class sites like the cathedral (Game of Thrones filmed here), the old cathedral (next door), and the city walls, a must. You can get a ticket which includes both cathedrals and the Girona Museum of Art. If art isn't your thing, the building is worth seeing anway as it was The Bishop's Palace. The baths date from the 1100s and have undergone sympathetic restoration. Only 15 minutes to go round but well worth it.

The information about the historical place is very well presented including a tv screen with animations is how it would have been used, therefore making it easy to understand the place. The Basilica de Sant Feliu is a large, brightly lit church with a mix of romanesque, gothic and baroque architecture. It features several sarcophagi, as well as an impressive facade.
The Cathedral is astonishing and makes you feel out of this era. The gothic architecture from the inside and the Baroque facade makes this place a must visit in Girona. The tickets were 8€ and they included the access to the cathedral, the Basilica and the museum.

The basilica is a stunning Gothic-style building constructed in the 14th century using ashlar and masonry. The facade and steps, however, are Baroque. If you purchased the 3 in 1 ticket including the cathedral, this is another site you will visit. It is not as grand as the cathedral, but nonetheless worth visiting. The entrance is a bit tricky to find. If you use Google map to search for this place, it will take you to a good place to take photo of it, but it isn't the entrance. This imposing basilica church equals the nearby city cathedral in beauty and importance.
Located in a picturesque medieval part of the city, this church is Gothic in style with a baroque facade, full of statues in niches. The church is older than the cathedral and has also a slender bell tower and stairs leading up to its main entrance.
Irene Cotrina — Google review
This church is just opposite the bridge of Saint Felix, on the eastern bank of the River Onyar. It seemed a little odd that a basilica is smaller than the cathedral until I found out that historically this church housed the Diocese of Girona and therefore the main church in Girona until the construction of the cathedral. Much like the cathedral, it’s a lovely mix of Romanesque, Gothic and with a Baroque facade. Not quite a beautiful as Girona Cathedral, this church does have a few interesting points such as the 4th century sarcophaguses, an interesting alter with a statue of Saint Felix (I think), and the tomb of Narcissus of Girona who was one of the early bishops of Girona.
Keep in mind that you can buy a combined ticket for this basilica and Girona Cathedral, also known as the Church of St. Mary. Although the cathedral is more opulent than the basilica, I actually found the narrative of the audio guide for the basilica far superior.
Do not miss the Chapel of Saint Narcissus, which I though was far more beautiful than any of the chapels in the church for it's stunning jasper walls.

Beautiful basilica of Girona! Together with the cathedral, they dominate the skyline of Girona. Walk around the basilica where the Jewish quarter is located or go up to the hill where the old City Hall is and catch a glimpse of the basilica against the city as backdrop. You can also see the top of the basilica along the river.
Pujada de Sant Domènec, also known as the steps of Braavos in Game of Thrones, is a picturesque location that served as the setting for the market scenes in the series. The impressive Girona Cathedral was featured as the Great Sept of Baelor. Upon visiting these sites and comparing them to their on-screen depictions, it becomes evident that CGI played a significant role in bringing these locations to life on television.
Rambla de la Llibertat in Girona offers a stark contrast to the narrow, confined streets of the old quarter. This wide pedestrian boulevard runs parallel to the Onyar River and is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to shop, socialize, and enjoy a coffee. The area features beautiful shopping streets, bars, and restaurants. It's also known for its semi-pedestrian layout with various dining options and terraces perfect for relaxation.

The Parc de la Devesa is a beautiful city park with plenty of green space, playground equipment and tall trees. It's a great place to relax after exploring the attractions in Girona.
Very nice place! A few things to do and explore!

I visit this place once in a week and just love the aura of this place. Very peaceful, calm and mesmerising. Great option for kids to enjoy, adults to relax and pets to have fun. Highly recommended.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays there's a great fruit & vegetables market where you can get great bargains. Stalls selling plants and clothes too!

A large park with an impressive tree-lined entrance and two sections - one a large grassed area with playground equipment; another with tall trees like a mini forest. If you go a little further on one side of the tree area, you'll reach a maintained garden that you can relax in that's also next to a restaurant.

Very nice walk and picturesque place. Had a nice time walking through the park. Had some coffee at the coffee shop and enjoyed the weather and Woody atmosphere. There are some very nice flowers and peacocks in the park

The Parque de la Dehesa is a large park located west of the historic centre of the old city, on the west bank of the River Onyar and within walking distance of Plaza Independencia. It’s a lovely bit of green space in Girona and a nice contracts to a bit of sightseeing in the old town. It's not really much of a park in some ways because much of it is full of trees. Although there is a small adjacent gardens, there isn't much to see. Perhaps Devesa Forest would be a better name. Other reviewers have mentioned a market, but I didn't see it.

Massive space with lots of trees that are exactly the same and nothing else.
There's a separate closed off park which is inside and much prettier. Has a kids play area, bar and flowers etc.

This diverse museum impresses with its scale and variety of its art displays, which includes works by prominent Catalan artists such as Mela Muter and Rafael Maso Valenti. beautifully done and there is an audio guide, but as an individual you get lost a bit

Nice museum, art mainly limited to Prerenaissance. Be sure to request the discount pass for the other museums in Girona.
La Lleona, a colonnaded statue of a lioness located in the old town near the river in Girona, holds a special ritual where visitors kiss the lion's bottom to show respect. The statue has an iron staircase allowing people to reach buttock level for this tradition. Nearby, El Call, the well-preserved Jewish Quarter, offers charming streets and a glimpse into its historical significance. Visitors can also enjoy dining at nearby restaurants with varied menus and friendly service.
Had a menu del dia today. Food was delicious, service was great. Great little find. Highly recommended.

People came to this small lion sculpture and get into the stairs to hug and kiss the lion to return back to the city.

We enjoyed our dinner at this cute restaurant with a bit of hippy vibe so much that we went twice! Located in the old city very near the historic cathedral and basilica. Interesting, varied menu with both typical Spanish food including tapas and other offerings. One night, a delicious Uruguayan beef, another yummy Nepalese momos. Excellent grilled vegetables! Service was the best we had in Spain, very charming and friendly.

Fun taking picture here, but it doesn't mean and look much if you don't know the history of it. And yes, kiss the butt!

If you ever find yourself walking down Placa Sant Felix and happen to pass L'hostal de la Lleona, take a moment to look for stone column with a sculpture of a decorative lion, that looks like it’s climbing up. Kiss that lion's behind cause it might just save your life. No … just kidding. This is another one of those rub/kiss a sculpture thing that supposedly brings good luck. Go ahead if you believe in that kind of thing.
There's also a plaque near the lion describing I think the origin of this superstition (in Spanish).

I need to say this. They told me to wait outside couple of minutes until a table is free. I did that. And after 30min they told me that they don’t have time anymore.. when I came it was 1:20h before they are closing, and by then it was still almost an hour. And they could tell me before, not making me wait in the winter time for 30min outside. At this time is already hard to find a restaurant open, so I was left alone hungry. It happened to me already twice that I wanted to go there and I couldn’t eat because they somehow rejected me.. really bad experience, just not treating other person nice and respectful. I live in Girona and they could have had a regular customer, but in this case, I will never go there again.

Stellar quaint restaurant. We ate there daily for a week in 2019 and back again in 2022. Food is superb. Very reasonable. 3 course meal with many options is €16.50. A bottle of wine is €8-12.

Excellent food and excellent value. Such kind servers as well. Can’t recommend it enough. The daily menu is so diverse. If we were staying longer, we would return.

We arrived the first ones but the waitress told us she can’t take our order yet as we were upstairs and it’s priority to the guests downstairs ! After 20min waiting with 3 young kids I asked if it’s possible to take our order luckily the lady accepted but we still had to wait an hour for the starter. Then 30min later we still didn’t have our main dish and the waitress said the chef is overbooked and can’t prepare the food so we have to wait for long time again. Unfortunately we had to leave with kids starving.

Crazy legend about kissing the Lions butt. Watch a few tourists trying to climb the pole. Fun to just sit and watch the crowds.
This is a beautiful museum with period pieces and interesting architectural details. It is a great tribute to the architect Rafael Maso, and is well worth a visit for anyone in Girona.
This is a truly amazing place. I was fascinated by the whole house. A great tribute to a fine architect and designer.
A must for anyone visiting Girona.
We emailed to book a guided tour and it was very easy.
I highly recommend this museum.

Some instructions about Casa Masó:
It is a really pretty place and definitly worth visiting!!
However, you have to book in advance( at least one day) because the capacity is limited. It is very easy, on the website u get the email address and the response is really fast in a few hours.
It was the home of the famous architect Masó from Girona. Around the train station you can find quite a lot of his work!
The tour is given in English, Spanish and Catalan!
Ticket is 4 euro.

Cafeteria Pont de Pedra is a charming coffee shop situated on the triple-arched stone bridge that was constructed in 1856 to connect neighborhoods separated by the Onyar River. The location offers breathtaking views and is surrounded by numerous bars and shops, making it a perfect spot for getting some pictures taken. It is reminiscent of Florence but without the overwhelming crowds. Visitors can also explore the market on Saturdays while enjoying delicious treats at this aesthetically pleasing café.
It is a very-very beautiful place
