Connie and Ted's in West Hollywood offers a welcoming and casual setting with open kitchen views, indoor and outdoor seating, and excellent seafood options. Reviewers praise the delicious chowder sampler, perfectly cooked Alaskan Halibut with herb oil, outstanding Mac n Cheese, feast of oysters, grilled lobsters, lobster rolls, fish & chips, calamari dishes, and exceptional service. The atmosphere is described as relaxing with high ceilings and visible kitchen operations. While some mention occasional service issues affecting their experience negatively like slow orders or small portion sizes for the price paid.
A really nice, casual, and great tasting seafood dinner in West Hollywood. It’s a really welcoming and casual setting with an open kitchen, something I really enjoy because you can watch the kitchen operate, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Our server Danny did a terrific job, was very polite, and helped with a few menu decisions. Parking in this area can be a pain, but I was able to find parking on SMB right out front for a 7PM Saturday dinner.
For my starter I chose the Chowder Sampler which was comprised of 3 smaller portions of New England, Manhattan, and Rhode Island Chowder. It was nice being able to have all three and honestly I’m not even sure if I have had the Rhode Island type before. For my entree I chose a fish of the day the Alaskan Halibut with herb oil. It was perfectly cooked and the herb oil sauce was very tasty with lots of garlic and something I would order again. For my side I chose the Mac n Cheese and it was one of the better ones I have had in a very long time. I loved the crispy top and mixing it with the cheesy bottom.
Overall a really nice meal in a casual setting. I would recommend to any fan of seafood.
Found this gem while researching seafood spots for my Cali visit. The atmosphere is nice, I personally like places where you can see in the kitchen. When I'm looking for seafood, there's nothing wrong with a place that has people grabbing live crab out of a tank to cook. It adds to the vibe!
My wife and I shared a side salad, three chowder sampler, a dozen oysters, and a seafood boil. Yes, we were hungry. 🤣 But honestly, the portions weren't huge. One could argue it's pricey for the portion sizes, but we were satisfied.
All of the oysters from the chef selection were delicious. I enjoyed the chowders as well, but Rhode Island was definitely my favorite! The seafood boil was great, but probably better suited for one person. There was only one piece of lobster and shrimp. The rest was full of clams, muscles, and potatoes.
The service was satisfactory and everything came out at an appropriate cadence. I would come back if I am ever staying in the area!
Connie and Ted’s is my go-to for authentic east coast seafood in LA. I haven’t had a bad dish yet in all my years of coming here.
My suggestions for anyone who asks:
Raw Bar: Fresh Oysters (daily selection varies)
Parker House Rolls
House Smoked Fish Dip
Joanne’s Fish and Chips
Fresh Maine Lobster Roll (hot w/drawn butter)
New England Boiled Dinner (SAT Night Only!)
Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée
Old Fashioned Buttermilk Donuts
Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Went on the weekend (Saturday) for lunch/ brunch. The chowder's were very satisfying as a starter. Crab cake, salad, and butternut squash were delicious. Our main entrees were Black Cod and Black Sea Bass, which were delicately prepared and melted in our mouths.
Delicious, fresh seafood. Great outdoor dining setup (large, open tent). Dog friendly.
