A beautiful place to hike or do trail runs. There are both hilly and flat paths. It is a great park to explore and some of the views are incredible.

The beach was awesome, peaceful and calm. No crowd at all even during morning or evening. It was long beach covered with white sand and . If you love a beach without any crowd around and this is the best place. Not a commercial place and you will not find any hotels, other shops typically that you will find in popular tourist place.

Stunning park in Setubal! Such a massive park you need a few hours to walk the trails and visit. The beaches around Setubal are spectacular! Feels like you're going down south on vacation. The water is clear, not many waves, and the sand is nice and clean!

Amazing trails to walk through, a nice drive as well. The scenery is so beautiful that they even film the BMW adverts on those roads 😄 And if you look hard enough you can find trails to really nice secluded beaches ⛱️

Arrábida is always nice, this time I went there to see the sunrise. We stayed on the upper road for a better view and parked at the side of the road. It was very beautiful!

If you like beach and hike this is a great place to visit in Portugal. Very hard to get a parking spot but if you don’t mind to walk a bit no problem. There are shuttles all day long for the lazzy ones ;)

Amazing views from the sea. Should be a definitely must see place inside also. But look up to see if you are passing with a boat to see the beautiful nature and the classic lighthouse and church.

Context: visited as a tourist in Jun 2023. Can't speak for other times of the year All round amazing place. Beautiful blue sea lovely sandy beach, and restaurants all around and all just an hour south of Lisbon! Was booked as part of an excursion from TripAdvisor (again highly recommend) nd we arrived before midday. There were still a number of people so would recommend getting early. There were a number of people doing activities including kayaking, swimming, fishing, snorkeling and more. Highly recommend to any other tourists visiting Lisbon.

This is an absolute must see in Setubal and I actually make a point of coming to visit even if I’m staying in Lisbon. My favourite day to go is a Saturday. It is busy but the food is fresh and amazing and the whole vibe of the market is fantastic.

One of the world best live market. Very hygienic and closed on Monday. The entry is free. Your body temperature will be checked. Its not such a good place for breakfast but great place to buy breads and fish. You'll be surprised to see the fresh fish catch. The visual treat to see the product and curing of the fish. Nice experience to hear local stories and get great deals on groceries.

If you're in Setúbal for a day or a week: do visit the fresh market. In the main entrance you're welcomed by stunning azulejos (blue painted tiles that depict a scene). Then you arrive at the vegetables and cheese area with butchers in their shops at the side of the hall. Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, olives, bakery products and more. The second part of the hall is taken by the fish mongers and is especially spectacular due to the many fish at display. From little sardines to huge swordfish, you're going to see them all over here. Afterward you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of Moscatel in the bar at the side of this wonderful market that already exists for more than 160 years.

A perfect place to find fresh fish, vegetables and fruits, cheese, flowers and other things

Wonderful traditional coveted market with several dozen vendors. Lots of fresh fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, flowers, nuts, olives, bread, pastries, and more. Several restaurants also operate from the market. Open every day until 2:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

A 140 years old lively indoor market offering from seasonal fruits, olives and other locally-grown foodstuffs-vegetables to fish - meat - pretty much anything one can think of. Fresh fish from the fishermen's boats arrive here each day. It's best to get here early morning for the best selection! One can enjoy the liveliest atmosphere as well as Oyester with sparkling wine. The place also exhibits some of the great piece of Azulejos (a panel with over 6000), the Art of Ceramic Tiles of Portugal. It also offers a few restaurants including the vegan one.

The oyster counter was f a b u l o u s ! Ignore all these /ignorant/ people - sorry, pun intended - who say it's not clean etc. Oysters opened in front of you cannot be spoiled. They are 200% fresh and delicious. The market itself is very clean, it smells of the fresh fish only. They also sell a huge tuna

A really colorful and vibrant Mercado with lots of variety. If you are looking for fresh fruits, cheese, breads, meats and seafood then this is a one stop market. You know it’s a good sign when it’s 90% locals who shop here. If I lived in Setubal I would definitely buy my produce and meats here.

This place was awesome. Huge with lots of vendors. They have tons of fish vendors, we were cooking so didn’t go that route. Did get some great cured meats, fresh bread and some dope goat/sheep cheese. Also grabbed a bottle of wine from the little shop that had cold greens and whites. Perfect spot to hit on the way to the beach for ready to eat food. Even better if you are staying there and wanted to cook.

Huge historic market with veggies, fruits, fish, meat, and local foods. Open and airy

This was a must-visit for us at the start of our 5 day stay in Setubal. Cheeses, meats, and especially shrimp and sardines were on our list. What a great experience. Highly recommended for shopping and even just sight seeing.

Whenever you visit a country or city, local markets tell you the most about the local culture. The market in Setubal is in a beautiful old hall with a great variety of products, from local fish to cheese, vegetables, fruits, broidery, etc. Worth visiting!

Beautiful and historic market. This was the first place we visited in Setúbal, and it really set the tone. Produce is fresh, local, and delicious. Vendors were kind, fair, and willing to work through the language barrier. Prices were really affordable too. Highly suggest a visit if you’re in town!

Such an amazing beach if you are able to walk down the steep rocky paths/stairs to get there. Gorgeous sea, although very cold, and beautiful sand. Avoid high tide as the beach shrinks substantially, with limited access to parts.

Simply the bet beach in the area. You can parl in front of the access. Its silent, with amazing landscape clean and soft sands, and stunning blue crystal waters

Stunning beach. We parked roadside and it’s a small walk down hill may be difficult for some with the rocks but I did it in flip flops and was fine... beautiful colour water Even I if it is freezing! One of the best beaches I’ve visited in Portugal so far

During summer from 10th of June to 30th of September the road is closed from 6 am to 8-9pm! Don't come by car. Take a taxi, uber, moto, or be prepared to park your car far away and walk! Else take the bus but take your mask. According to the locals this year 2022 the big parking of secil is closed. Else Wonderful beach with white sand and transparent water. Quiet during the week but quiet busy on weekends. Family, dogs etc.. So come early or at the end of the day :)

Beautiful beach in Setúbal. To go there you can take the Fertagus train in Lisbon, stop in Setúbal (last stop) and then take the 4472 bus line (direction Praia do Creiro). You need to go down the stairs to arrive at the beach but it takes around 10 minutes only. And it's totally worth it.

Ver nice beach, a bit though to access since you need to ‚climb‘ a bit down, but absolutely worth it. Not to many waves, very smooth sand and you’re also able to buy some drinks and ice cream from small shop - so you’re able to spend a whole beach there. Parking is a bit hard too find, there are also some where you need to pay. So we came by Bolt (Taxi).

The beach is a little bit hidden but worth the small walk down. Very beautiful and not too full with people.

This must be the best beach I've been to in Europe! Makes sense it was tagged as one of the best beach in europe a few years back! Very well maintained natural beach, not much establishments around so you gotta bring your own food and drinks. There's a store with drinks, ice cream, but not much food. You also need to hike a bit going down before reaching the place. Unfortunaltely public transpo is difficult because of the ongoing road construction, it would be best to secure you have a car!

Galapinhos and Galápagos are two beaches in the same cove. Galapinhos is a more beautiful beach, but its access is steeper.

Great beach, not much space as a tiny stretch of sand but the views and atmosphere is well worth it. National park on your back with its green hill and the clear blue water ocean in front of you. Not to miss! Parking is a big problem...go early. Don’t litter!

Impressive paradise at less than 1 hour drive from Lisbon. Sorrounded by a natural park area. I think it would be difficult to park in summer. I went in late October though, and we were lucky enough with such a great weather that we even had a bath!

Nice but cold. Cheap option for those who don't want to pay to go to Troia. Maybe if you go by car (was not my case) you have to pay for parking. Is better to go by bike or bus.

It's a lovely beach. Not too many waves. Clear water. No rocks and shallow water. To get here we passed through the cement factory and it was like going to a chaotic sci-fi futuristic movie. 🫣 The beach has lifeguards and is quite clean. The parking lot is quite small though. We were lucky to get a free spot but also we arrived at almost 4pm on a Saturday in early June. I believe this might be difficult to get too in the peak of the summer. Still wonderful.

Beautiful landscape and clear water. There are public toilets available, not the cleanest ones, but good for use. There were 2 places open for food and beverages. Public transport doesn't work in weeks days during what they call "school time". You can easily get there by Uber or Bolt, cost around 5€ from Setúbal historical centre.

Top beach on setubal. it is located at the beginning of the arrabida park, where you can then visit the different bays set among the rocks, there is a shuttle service every 20 minutes, but you can also take a nice walk to admire nature, tiring yes! I recommend the bus to get to the 3rd bay. fantastic location. TodayTravelers again

Our favorite. Absolutely beautiful, and the water is so calm that it makes it perfect for families with small kids.

Stunning white sand beach set against the backdrop of the Arrábida national park. Amazing views to the park behind and across lagoons and sandbars to Tróia across the bay. Superb cafe on the beach with restaurant dining, sun terraces, great food, and drinks. Regular buses to and from Setúbal, or a short 10 minute drive with reasonable parking. Be warned it gets incredibly busy in summer from the early morning and often has police regulating the traffic.

Stunning beach in Setúbal with a great structure: toilets, food and drinks. To go there from Lisbon you can take Fertagus train the until final stop in Setúbal and then grab a bus in front of the station. This bus goes to the beach and you can also take it from there when going back to the station. Enjoy it!

What an incredible beach! Clear waters, very calm, and clean. Very very cold though, but it’s tolerable. There’s also a really good parking area. The rent fee for the umbrellas are not very expensive as well. Great local bar near the beach where you can get a quick ice cream or some bottle of beer or water. There’s also a proper area for shower. Really loved it!!!

Beach is huge with good parking options but watch out for the pigeons, and the cafe onsite is pretty average at best.

Cool castle with amazing views. Great getaway for a sunset. Elegant cafe on the premises, however they only serve drinks and snacks, at least in November. Come in the morning with sun on the castle, on the afternoon castle will be in shade and city/marina is light up with golden colours.

What a stunning view !!! Beauty at its best. Amazing view at night. Amazing view and it was a very good attractive place to visit. The castle is beautiful with a small museum where you can learn more about its historic importance and the view is absolutely fantastic....!

Free entry at this fort overlooking setubal and the bay. Beautiful views from different angles. Be sure to stop inside the tiled chapel (a small door to the left as you walk up the stairs entering the door). Take great photos from the high points, both the bay side and the ocean side. Stop in the coffee shop to enjoy a coffee from the top of the world. :)

Such a perfect vantage point to see the entire city of setubal! Nothing much in the fort itself, but it's a wonderful view, relatively good cafe (with such delicious pastries!), and a lot of angles to take photos of the port and the city/sea!

16th Century Fort overlooking the sea. Built by order of Philip I (1527-1598), according to designs by architect Filipe Terzi and, after his death (in 1598?), Francisco Turriano. From the hill overlooking the sea where it was built, this superb military structure completely controls the entrance of the Sado and, at the same time, subdues the city itself, once within reach of its cannons. It is clear that the St. Philip fortress fulfilled a twofold defensive purpose: while staying alert to the dangers coming from the sea, it attentively watched all movements in the village! From the sea came the already traditional attacks by North African and French pirates. In addition to those, at that time, there were also attacks by the English and the Dutch, who, at the end of the 16th century, were at war with Spain. On the other hand, the Spanish occupier, though certain of the support of the Portuguese elites, most likely feared the lower classes, who were against him. The massive, imposing, unfriendly and threatening bulwarks, the austere entrances and the lairs decisively contribute to reinforcing that vocation of the Philippine fortress. Saint Philip's construction works started in 1582, in the presence of the king himself. The blueprint of the fortress depicts a six-pointed star, and a sinuous outline, likely due to the rugged terrain where it lays its deep foundations. In the fortress there is also a small Joanine chapel, with a rectangular plan. The inner walls and vault are completely covered with rich tiling, part of which narrate the life of Saint Philip. On the vault, we can admire the royal coat of arms in an intense Baroque composition. In the very discreet chancel, with a gilded woodcarving altar, there are small panels with a Marian theme, dating from 1736 and signed by master Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes.

Castle located high up in the mountains, which can be explored by the public for free (no admission fee). The Castle are spectacular in itself, but the view over Setubal and Atlantic Ocean is superb. Bar/restaurant is available. I would say that 30 min minimum is required to see the cattle. Cab or car is recommended, as the hill is quite steep for any one that would like to visit the castle by foot. Worth an visit!

Amazing views with lot less crowd. You can take a train directly to setubal from lisbon, then take a bus, walk for 15-20 minutes uphill till you reach the fort. The scenery is beautiful with the view of city and the hills around. Also, entrance to the fort is free and they have a small cafeteria if you’d like some drinks.

One of the must-see Setubal attractions if you plan on visiting the city. It's a bit of a hike if you can walk. Otherwise, you can take a taxi. Built over 700 years ago as part of the city's fortification. Once at the top, make sure to visit the Chapel. The walls and the ceiling are decorated in blue and white tiles. The views of the city and the ocean from the top are beautiful. There is a cafe at the top that serves coffee and drinks.
