Excellent grounds for a family picnic. There are rides, but it's not necessary to pay for those as the park is free. There is delicious soft serve ice cream, but the queue is long on a hot day, as you might expect. However, that queue is nothing compared to the queue inside at the Courtyard Cafe. Getting a coffee was a no go. Take your own.

Lovely place. Had a nice walk with the family. Grabbed some coffees, hot chocolates and snacks from the visitors centre to drink while we wandered. We didn't notice any bins to put rubbish or dog bags on the trail so had to carry it all till we got back to the courtyard but not a major issue. Sure we will be back. I'd love to see it change with the seasons.

Awesome hidden gem of a place. Set in a beautiful rural countryside setting there is something for everyone. From tree top climbing to a stately home, we'll worth a visit I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The only downside I found was irresponsible dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs.

Great facilities with cheap car parking. Our 4 yr. old grandson loved it. The adventure playground was well equipped and very safe. We also had a go at crazy golf, only £1 each for 18 holes. Very good day out.

Haigh Hall Woodland Park (aka Haigh Hall Country Park... Those who know will know) is not only the jewel of Wigan's parks but also one of the finest parks in the North West of England. . The park itself is very large and is best described as being a park of two halves (namely the Haigh Woodland Park and Haigh Plantations). A continuous path (more like a road) runs through both halves and it's very easy to simply follow this from either the main car park (next to the hall / stable block) all the way through the walled gardens through the woods (over the Leeds Liverpool canal) and on through to the plantations and park gates (opposite Wigan Royal Infirmary). . However, the area really comes alive when you explore the mass of land that you can pass through by taking alternative routes. There really is something for everyone both walkers, runners, and cyclists. . For children there are two very large play areas. One has all the things you would expect to find at a country park of this size and much more besides. The second is much smaller and is an assault circuit. This can get very wet and muddy in winter so good walking boots or wellies are recommended. . The Hall itself is currently under refurbishment at the time of writing but this is a magical building and definitely worth a visit when it reopens. . In the meantime the stable block includes several local food retailers and a delightful craft shop. There is also a microbrewery onsite. . If you enjoy golf, there is a full size pay to play 18 hole course and a range of practice facilities including a short par three course. The park also benefits from two adventure golf courses. . Another major benefit is the full size treetop walking facility with ropes and courses for both children and adults to enjoy. . Parking in the main carpark is chargeable, however there are free parking facilities available if you want to enter the park from alternative gates (all marked on the map and easy to find). . Haigh Woodland Park is a very special place and has hosted major events and concerts over the years, including the Verve's famous homecoming gig. There is so much more I could write about this place as it's so vast and steeped in history. If you've never been to Haigh Hall Woodland Park put this on your list for 2024

Came down for Dino day. Kids loved it. Park was easy to find, easy to park up. Cafe and toilets were clean. Decent coffee and food served. Dino day event was good.

A wonderful day out with lots of little play areas and beautiful walks. The train ride charges a donation and is lots of fun. Brilliant play park for both older and younger ones with a sand pit play area.

Great place for walks and a bite to eat. Alot of nature and miles to walk with or without your dog. The forests are kept in perfect condition. Many very nice views to just look at for hours must be visited to be truly appreciated plan to have many more happy walks here.

Lovely Country Park & great for kids. It's not just a fun fair & play area, but great country walks, cafe, shops & even a pub. The fun fair is only open at weekends now the kids are back at school.

What a lovely place to spend the day! A really nice park with stunning scenery and plenty to do with the kids. There are some lovely gardens to enjoy & a crazy golf course as well as a climbing site. I Was very impressed with the courtyard food court which had a good sized seating area and lots of options of food choice at a reasonable price. I also very much enjoyed my pint of San Miguel later in the day as the kids had an ice-cream, possibly the first time I've ever had a pint in a park in the UK but it won't be the last.

Probably my favourite place to be. Been going regularly my whole life. Lucky to have it on our doorstep. Love that it's had an overhaul in the past few years, better than it ever was now. Really enjoy all the event planning throughout the year.

Geeat park with nice play area for kids. It has nice walking trails too and a great view of city from high up. food options aew great in the Haigh Hall, and the cafes. When we lived in the area, it was a regular place for us to go for walks and to take our kid there. They also have ourdoor adventure/mini golf. In summers they have small rides too for youn kids. Overall I am very impressed how they have maintained the park.

The food was nice , plenty to do and see , lots of walks and lots of climbing for the kids , like go ape , its a really good day out , with cheap parking.

Wigan's prime Country Park with history. Woodlands. Mini railway. Historic Haigh Hall. Leeds canal. Cafes. Parking area. Enclosed garden. Pond. Children's playground. Something for everyone.

Seats were reasonably comfortable with okay leg room. Hospitality was painfully slow... ran out of draught beer and cider with over an hour brie kick off. Although I wasn't drinking, I had to queue in the same lines for a coffee and pie!! Over an hour!!

A magical place, lovely pitch. Catalans should be ashamed. Easy to get in and out of. Shame the big chippy has closed. Hope to see a game there early next year?

A modern and beautiful football stadium with complete facilities. The atmosphere is intense. It's very close to the railway station, just only a 20-minute walk, so it's very convenient to get there.

GREAT GAME DAY EXPERIENCE If you haven't been, come to a Wigan Warriors game. Tickets are reasonably priced and so are the concessions. Great sightlines from everywhere around the stadium and it's great when there's a full house (usually against arch-rival St Helens). Keep an eye out for ticket deals on the Warriors website, but if you haven't been to a rugby league game before, this is a pretty good place to do it!

Great stadium with good amenities. A full crowd caused 10-15 mi ute queues for the bar but getting there early allows plenty of time. Seating is awesome, great views of the pitch and comfortable too.

Fantastic atmosphere on a rugby or football day or night. Many memories had and shared since its opening day. I was sceptical when we central park was sold off and demolished as it was rich in culture and the best memories of successful times and was our home. Although the stadium is now shared it still is a wonderful site that has so much to offer from match days to charity occasions, recently legends nights with players from previous eras or nights out with work or hired occasions. The restaurant i hear is very good and is situated in a very good location with the shopping park directly across. There is also public gyms and a sports village next to it for 5 a side comps and general training. The food carts are very expensive but this is to be expected on a match day. The stewards are fabulous at carrying out their jobs, i havent heard of any such hooliganism ever happening at this stadium. I believe u also can take yours and make special requests for lots of things. Great stadium, great performances and entertainment. The pitch is picture too considering there can be 26 blokes battering each other all over it. The groundskeepers do a fantastic job

The stadium itself looks great on the photos however, the access for disabled needs seriously looking at. The staff were great and really helpful considering what they had to work with. The areas that were set out for wheelchair users were inadequate. We were expected to travel up to 2nd level seating area by lift which sounds OK but if there was an emergency how are we supposed to get out?? The food and drink was seriously overpriced and the queues were a joke. The staff on the concourse food areas had no clue how to serve a lot of people and keep the queue flowing. I'm glad it's not a place I visit often.

The DW stadium dominates the local skyline and is such a special place in Wigan. The stadium is the home ground for the legendary Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club and former FA cup champions, Wigan Athletic Football Club. . The stadium itself is a very modern facility despite at the time of writing being 25 years old (completed in 1999). Originally called JJB stadium (approx. 10 years), the club changed its name to DW stadium in 2009 following Dave Whelan (former Latics owner) acquiring the fitness club business from JJB, creating DW Sports fitness (now DW fitness first). . The stadium offers purpose built facilities including, 2000 carparking spaces, stadium shop, restaurants, and bars. Located close to Wigan town centre, the stadium is easily accessible by public transport and is situated on the same site as Robin Retail Park (Wigan's main out of town retail park). Traffic around the ground can be congested on match days, however, the stadium parking can be accessed via multiple routes. . The onsite catering is one of the main highlights of the ground and the Clayton Park Pies are legendary. All the food and drink is very reasonably priced for this type of venue and there is a good variety of beers on tap for those that enjoy a drink at the game. . The south stand is best suited for families and is the most appropriate for young children. However, all stands have excellent WC facilities and the communal areas are very clean and well maintained. . In summary, the DW stadium is modern, welcoming, atmospheric, and serves the best pies in town!

Went to watch wigan vs sheff weds. Tickets were £20. Plenty of parking. Where i was it was £2 due to getting there for 7pm amd then free after 9pm. Inside the stadium was nice. Plenty of places to get something to eat. Contactless payment. Nice ground and good build up music. Wigan fans were noisy but friendly.

I was visiting the area and went to a game with friends. We did the hospitality thing which included a hot buffet style meal and a pay bar. I thought the whole thing was great. Staff were brilliant, the stadium size seemed just right for atmosphere and feeling part of the action. In all we were there for 4 hours and I'd do it again if I had chance!

We saw our toffee boys here. Stadium is ok needed more on the ticket box to collect our tickets.

Great stadium with good view points all round. Crowd generate a good noise aided by a competent drummer. PA clear with interesting music choices. Access in and out was easy as was the choice of parking, either street or official. Overall a pleasant experience and we were glad to visit this community club doing its best.

Champions. Food is so over priced. Some staff are clueless. Bogs are ok. Hot drinks should have own counter so don't have to wait for all the beer guzzlers. Parking is ok but the lights should give priority to empty the DW.

was there for an away match , The FA cup vs Manchester united, signage was very confusing, they only opened the gates an hour pre match so took a while to get in , which left long lines at the concession stands which meant I couldn't get food pre match , atmosphere was great and united won so made it a great away

We went to see Wigan v Burton Albion on Good Friday. A very good 1-1 draw,a pint of beer & a portion of meat & potato pie,mash mushy peas & gravy(really hot & delicious) made for a very enjoyable day out. A cracking ground.

Went with my twin boys (18 months) to the rugby league championship game. Arrived at the stadium with no issues. We did not park on the grounds, we parked locally at a friend's house. So we can't comment on parking. One of our babies needed a nappy change so we sought a baby change facility. Spoke to several stewards and onsite staff with not one person being able to tell us or give us access to a baby change facility. You cannot sell tickets to under 2 year olds and not have the appropriate facilities. After scrambling around trying to find someone to get keys for a locked baby change toilet, a very very kind man in a wheelchair unlocked the door with his disability toilet key. Again, upon leaving, another man with disabilities let us into a toilet with facilities. Not the stewards or staff. That was our only complaint - staff need to be versed and know and hold facility keys.

I only came here for a business event. The stadium was easy to get to. The parking was simple and the venue was adequate for the event I was attending. Don't ask me to review the team...I don't even know if it's a football or rugby station. Though I'd have given it five stars if I'd have glanced at the team, I'm sure. ( Definitely not fickle).

Can't be a great game of rugby league with the best team in the world!! Advice to park away from stadium gets very busy

This place is very muddy and slippy. There are many nice points to enjoy, but no car park nearby except a small ramp other side of road.

Lots of purple flowers and grounds for walking. More arrows for suggested to routes would be ideal as we had to double back on ourselves. At the top when you finish at parbold hill there is an ice cream van, which is a welcoming sight. We got a large soft serve in a tub, which was half as big as the large at Haigh hall park. I think she ran out of pots and was giving small portions as large also so be careful if buying from her.

This trail is very muddy and slippy in places so bring wellies! There are many nice views at various points but repairs to bridges, walkways and stiles needed.

This was a good, muddy tramp of a walk, down one side of the stream and back up the other. Be prepared to scramble and slide and you'll have a great time. There are sturdy planks to help you through the worst bits. Free parking across the road. Another world down away from the road, with water falling and birds singing. Recommend you come and find it.

Cute little Glen with lovely little waterfalls and trails up onto a field with views. Some litter and noisy from the road but a nice stop over

Great day out and suitable for little legs, and still lots to enjoy for the big legs too! Cute waterfalls and nice walk through the woods, a great area to visit when it's not raining. If you are going with small kids then get them in wellies as lots of little streams to splash in, and can get quite muddy in places. Children will love it here.

Attractive but over visited woodland. Great for tinies but bigger kids will enjoy Dean Wood more. Plentiful free roadside parking at Stoneygate Lane. Lots of good walking options into Parbold or Appley Bridge

Lovely place but only come on week days or when weather has been dry for a while. Very slippy in places. Could do with maintenance too if I'm honest, seems to have gone downhill a bit. Parking on other side of main road.

Such a beautiful woodland area with many paths & trails of varying difficulty for those who like a challenge or who have mobility issues so need to stick to the more level paths. There's an air of magic about the place, with little paths here and there that make you want to explore. There's lovely little waterfalls and wooden bridges over the water, bluebells & flowers everywhere and trees making scenic archways. It wasn't too busy on the Sunday afternoon, quite a few people walking dogs or just couples strolling through & everyone very friendly. A very peaceful, beautiful area.

Came here years ago with eldest daughter, returned today with them both and it's not as good as it was. Fairy element has diminished, which is the part the kids are most bothered about. Nice walk through the woods, picturesque, paths muddy in places (expected), but the dog walkers leaving bags of mess strewn around ruins it somewhat.

Beautiful place but had to take it slowly as I'm disabled & underfoot could be a little treacherous for me as I'm not steady on my feet. Enjoyed it though.

My brother had a great day out here today for his birthday treat. He drove 5 'super cars' from car chase heros each ride was about 5 laps of the junior track which they should state is alot smaller than what the adults get to drive on however he enjoyed them all with his favoutite being the ferrari. All the adults working there were kind, friendly and helpful. Payed extra for a test lap which isnt worth it. Payed extra for a 2 lap superspeed thrill in the atom which actually took him round the full track he enjoyed this alot as it went so fadt! Even carried on driving in the extreme weather/storm which was good! You can take your own photographs but you cant see all the track so proffesional photos are available to buy. Overall good day out and happy brother :)

Great place,definitely worth of visiting to see great cars and drive them. Everything was booked online and I must say we didn't wait long for driving experience. High speed passenger lap was great !!

The Mrs drove Aston Martin Vantage V8 and the Bond DB5. 40 mins driving home that's all I heard. Needless to say she had an amazing time!! Then a hot lap in a Golf R. Friendly and helpful staff

I went with my partner today for his birthday. So impressed 😁 the staff were brilliant and we didn't have to wait long in-between driving the cars. The high speed passenger ride was amazing!

Came to a Super Car Race Track day here to see my little brother drive a supercar. Nice track and my brother really enjoyed his present. There is some food and drinks available in the cafe and there are toilets, with wheelchair access and baby changing mat.

What a great day. My grandchildren were given the driving experience as birthday presents. You need to allocate a full day as you have to wait quite a long time in each session you do. It was worth the wait as they all enjoyed the day. They have a really good cafe serving nice food and at a reasonable price.

Nice little local race circuit it's worth checking out there website if your in to seeing cars drifting or bikes racing to see what events are coming up. There is also a nice nature reserve what surrounds the circuit where you can feed the ducks and get ice cream. If your in the area well worth a visit.

Best morning out in a long time. We took 2 of the grandchildren for a car experience. One drove a Porsche and the other a Nissan GT6. They have a wide range of cars to pick from. Ford Mustang, Lotus Cortina, Dodge Challenger, Aston Martin, Nissan GT6, Police Cars and many others. See the web site for full list, Prices and booking. They got a few laps with a driver showing them the track layout. Then they got to drive a car of their choice. They got 3 laps round the track and came back thrilled BEST day ever they said. There is a great cafe on site. serving hot and cold food. We had curry n chips, chilli n rice, chip barm and a chicken salad. All well cooked or made. So a good morning out and well worth a visit. Car park is only £2.00 but was a bit muddy so go in your boots, wellies or some old shoes. Staff very helpful and nice. We had bought a deal price so I can't say how much it normally is. But you will have such a good time it wouldn't matter. Good atmosphere, a bit of queue waiting for your car. But with loads of hot cars to watch driving in and out it wasn't so bad.

One of the best karting tracks around. Marshall’s are all friendly and it’s always good fun here. Would highly recommend for the price!

Came here for a driving experience for my 12-year-old son. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The downside was the cost. The experience, additional dashcam video and photos all soon add up and whilst we chose to pay for the extras, some people may not be able to afford this. It's no different from any other large attraction really but it cost a lot of money for an hour worth of entertainment. My son was beaming from ear to ear though when he got out of the car so he would say it was worth the money as he can show his friends the dashcam footage to show that he was actually driving and not just a passenger.

Went to celebrate Sons birthday present delayed due to COVID and also managed to squeeze in a drive for Daughter In the end Son and I drove the Mitsubishi Evo X and squeezed a drive in for Daughter forn her 19th driving a McLaren 570s Afterwards we all were treated to a couple of laps driven by a British GT Driver round the track in an Aerial Atom.... A totally mental experience and something we will never forget. We will happily return here and had a whale of a time. This place can only be a victim of its own success. So many people attending we're having a truly memorable experience and making memories.

Easy to book. Friendly staff. Brilliant circuit. Very reasonable price. Can't wait to go again! Sam was a brilliant!! We had a prob with a missing oil cap. He & his team could not have been more helpful. They sorted us out so we could go ahead with testing out our Z cars mini. Sam was enthusiastic & knowledgeable & we were really grateful for his help.

Took my Lad outdoor Karting for his 16th. Absolutely LASHED it down! Our Race Co-ordinator gave us collectively loads of advice on how to stay safe in the wet & there was a lad on track to monitor everyones progress. Very Impressed! Awesome track & even though it was Baltic, it was absolutely FANTASTIC! 100% Recommend!

What a fiasco this day turned out to be, they obviously overbooked, complaints as follows, paid for double the distance and only given half. Then had to wait again to go back on, bought full media package, never recived, waiting line at the end of the day to choose pictures only to be told 2hrs later they can't do them and they will post everything within a week. That was the middle of March, too many emails later, and still no joy. They obviously don't even read the emails as they just keep asking for the same things, now they say that only keep media 2 months and last years have all been deleted, " fantastic I say, we were only there in March, now no correspondence again. My advice, save your £400 and go on holiday. What a shower of rip-off merchants this company is..

I ran a Charity rock night in the Court Room, and Jo & Michelle were brilliant from start to finish, helping with the booking and laying out the room. Michelle went above and beyond to make the night a success even getting some Redstripe in and helping with the sound system. The night itself was a great success, with a busy bar! Staff worked like troopers, so thanks Mike 🤟 and a few others. Can’t recommend the venue enough, they were brilliant. See you again in May 🤞🤟🍺

We had our baby boys Christening party at the Old courts a couple of weeks ago and we just couldn't fault it. From start to finish it was amazing. We love this venue as we have been here before so we wouldn't want anywhere else. We booked this with the manager Jo a few months before hand and she was just so helpful and patient with us, which is not easy when I am being indecisive. She sorted everything out including the buffet, every little detail even down to the colour of the lights in the main room. On the day of the Christening Michelle was managing and what an amazing job she did. She made us feel so relaxed everything was sorted and we had nothing to worry about, she made the day flow so easy, she was just lovely. If your thinking of using this venue for anything I would highly recommend it. 5 stars from us. Thank you Jen, Sean and baby George x

Last night was my mums 80th birthday and as she used to work at the county court, my sister and I decided it would be the perfect venue to throw a surprise party for her, and it really was just that! Michelle was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She went above and beyond to make sure the evening ran smoothly. She and her team could not do enough for us. If you are looking for somewhere to throw a celebration then the old courts is definitely the place to go. We will be back . Thanks again Michelle for making the evening flawless and for making sure my mum had the party she deserved.

I love this venue, ran the right way. The bar is well staffed and stocked, the sound is great and well managed. I've been a few times and had the same experience every time.

Held my 21st party here, brilliant space for the party, Michelle (bar manager) and the team were great and accommodated all my needs. Nothing was too much for Michelle and she was always making sure I was okay all night and also went the extra mile to make my night special by her attention to detail. Only issue I had was during the initial booking and confirmation stage the communication was slow and difficult to make contact. Other than that amazing, would happily book here again for future events. Thank you

Hi We got married on Friday 25.08.23 We're do we start... it was absolutely brilliant from starting to book it all with Jo..and Kenny..to Alex the room design was absolutely amazing every single thing was perfect and the start of the venue in walks Michelle what an angel she was .. she was so lovely and helpful from every single detail.. and the wonderful staff who served us all.. even got my own special cups of tea.. Dj everyone was amazing and what a beautiful place absolutely stunning.. but most of all our beautiful hostess Michelle such a kind caring lovely helpful lady .. Beautiful building and it was a beautiful room. Lots of wood and high ceilings. The staff were really helpful. The only downside was that the heating was not working that night so the room was a bit chilly. They did put heaters out to try and take the chill off. Would recommend for a party!

Fantastic venue, team and staff Booked The Victorian Suite for a surprise birthday party in December. It was nicely decorated for Christmas. The room is ideal for 80 to 100 guests. The team (Jo and Michelle) and staff were brilliant, really organised, helpful and a good laugh. I've received quite a few compliments from guests who had not been there before, or not known it was available for functions. So I expect we'll be there again in the future!

Our daughter got married in Cyprus but we had the wedding party on return home. The old courts was the perfect pick. Michelle and her team were absolutely fantastic to make sure our night was flawless. She was constantly attentive to our wishes and made the party run smoothly as did her team. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them and I can't thank Michelle enough for her outstanding professionalism she showed us. A credit to to all. The venue was great and catered to our needs. We had our wedding at the old courts last weekend and honestly can't thank the team enough for everything they did. The place looked amazing and the entire team were so friendly and professional nothing was too much trouble and many of our guests commented on how great they were. We had our wedding party there last night and it was amazing. The room is beautiful and the staff were absolutely brilliant! Michelle went above and beyond, such a lovely woman, Chris helped us out with the music and Mia is an absolute gem, always has a smile on her face and happy to help. All the staff were brilliant! The play "Spirit Level" was a delightful surprise – funny, thought-provoking, and superbly acted. It's truly a hidden gem. I hadn't considered going to the theatre before, but I was proven wrong! This venue has a rich history and boasts a beautiful interior. The range of shows is diverse and popular, and they offer a reasonably priced, inviting bar area staffed by friendly volunteers. It's an all-around welcoming place for a fantastic night out, and I'll definitely be making more frequent visits in the future. Now, the only question is, what should I watch next?

Attended my first ever show here this week it was absolutely brilliant. With a little interval in a nice bar area. I will be back

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Wigan Little theatre. The theatre was lovely, the performance of Spring and Port wine was fantastic, and the actors truly brought the story to life. I defiantly give the experience 5 stars. In a previous review for this production when I sent review, I gave it 5 stars, but unfortunately when it was sent only one star came up. I will be returning to see future productions

A great theatre and some very fine acting. Made to feel very welcome by the informative staff at the front. Enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to going again very soon. Lastly the drinks were very reasonably price, they didn't treat you like a captive audience like other places do. Fantastic evening.

I came up to the front door to inquire if the new seasons information booklet and up and coming play list was out. They, the volunteers, said to meet them at the side door yet never came to the side door. I came back to the front and they looked at me then continued to sit back down and talk amongst themselves. Needless to say, we'll go to Manchester for the theatre this Spring. Very unprofessional even for an amateur theatre.

Really nice theatre, with bar and snacks. Sadly the acoustics were poor and We couldn't catch much of the speech

A true hidden gem. I'd never considered going to the theatre, thought it would be quite boring....how wrong I was! It's a great place with a long history and has a beautiful interior. Shows are quite varied and popular, together with a great bar area, very fairly priced with friendly volunteers. Overall a very welcoming place to enjoy a great night out. I will be going more frequently in the future. What to watch next.....

We had a wonderful visit to Wigan Little Theatre. The venue was excellent and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The play itself was amazing and the actors were first class. We took a family member who was visiting from Norfolk and she thoroughly enjoyed the visit. I would highly recommend you visit if you get the chance.

First time visiting Wigan little theatre for over 30 years. The venue is lovely, well set out and welcoming, once I found the side entrance after trying to enter through two sets of automatic doors that weren't in use. The opening performance of David Copperfield was truly brilliant. Really well acted and cleverly done. A very enjoyable evening, will definitely be going more regularly.
