The exterior view of the church is perhaps the best part as the gothic facade fits pretty well with the decadent buildings around it. Church interiors are also nice, even though there are not so many things to see besides a tomb, few paintings and the overall gothic architecture.

Of the two Renaissance chapels at the entrance, the one on the right, "Cappella del Rosario", shows a painted wooden roof and, next to it, the sixteenth-century altar of the Madonna della Febbre, the work of Giovanni da Nola. To the left of the church is the ancient convent with the adjoining cloister which represents an extremely refined architectural example, which underlines the transition from Gothic typologies to the first Renaissance forms. In 1588 it hosted the philosopher Tommaso Campanella attracted to Cosenza by the thought and work of Bernardino Telesio. The monastic complex, in the past, was also used as the site of a barracks and the military district. Purchased and restored by the Municipality of Cosenza it currently houses the offices of the culture and tourism sectors and the BoCs Art Museum. Considerata una delle espressioni più significative dell’arte barocca della città Bruzia, secondo alcuni studiosi la sua prima fase costruttiva risalirebbe al Cinquecento (forse faceva parte del primo impianto della chiesa dedicata a San Matteo). Presenta un ricco e opulento decoro con fogli in oro zecchino, tipico del variegato repertorio ornamentale barocco, eseguito con motivi fitomorfi e zoomorfi (leoni affrontati, aquile, figure grottesche, simboli eucaristici, testine alate, corolle, fioroni), su cui si stagliano lo stemma del mecenate Lorenzo Landi e cinque stupendi dipinti su tela che mostrano la perfetta simbiosi tra pittura e arte scultorea.
