Road connectivity is good, roads are not too good there are some patched, once you reach there You have to park your vehicle on the road and have to walk for 5 minutes to reach the destination Try to visit during the evening, you can see the colorful sky and feel the cool wind. There is not much to see but a good place to take some photos. Usually fishermen come there to ask for a coracle ride for 100 or 150 rps, i prefer to avoid that, because they are not permitted to take you on the coracle as well there is no life jackets, they come there to make some small money but be cautious about what you choose, I'm writing this because I have took that ride for 150 rsp but didn't felt safe

Really a good place to go with your family or friends, consider going after 3 in noon or for the sunset. It's just old place in the river side or banks. You can also go boating here which costs 100-150 per person. The place is always open to visit. During rainy season the church submerges under water to the tip so better visit it in summer or around. You don't have to worry about parking either.

It was a good atmosphere during weekdays, there will be no disturbance or much crowd. I visited during the first week of March. I suggest you guys to visit starting week of Rainy seasons and winter to feel the beauty of place and nature and much more..... One more thing that do not miss the Sunset in the evening time....

This century old abandoned church is a magnificent structure located on the banks of Hemavathi river. It is a famous tourist spot and the church submerges during the monsoon and water level recedes during the summer. Parking is not available, but can park the vehicle on the road side and walk towards the church in the mud road for about 500 meters.

Splendid place to spend the evening. Don't expect a beautiful sunset, since an nearby bridge obstructs the view. I don't recommend getting into water since it seems dangerous. Best place to visit is in weekdays. In the weekends lot of crowd gathering will be there

It's a Gothic church in ruins frequented by mostly photographer community. The construction of the dam and reservoir makes it unique with the surrounding areas (and also the church in rains) under water. You can take a detour from Hassan and visit it on the way to other parts of Karnataka. Will not recommend it as main attraction . Looks better in pictures than actual (Alas it's a prey to those lovebirds with an innate zeal of proclamation and no sense of heritage or architecture). Good for testing your framing skills though.

Nice place to visit once. Good to visit during the afternoon and early evening time. Might get spooky during the late hours. No houses or colonies near the location. Seems to be a place to wonder about its origin, civilization and the history around it. There are few vendors, who sell water, juice and snacks in portable vehicles. Saw a party having their pre Wedding shoot. Can go there by car and bike. No tickets necessary. Maybe they should recognise it as a tourist spot and maintain it. It's just a beautiful wreck which is not monitored by authorities and is abandoned to go unnoticed by the majority.

I never knew a ruins can be so beautiful and still standing strong in water. Best spot for photo shoots nice scenery. Best time to visit is summer. This is submerged in water during rainy season. Ample car parking space. Small shop is also available for water and cold drinks but I recommend take your snacks and drinks along with you. Well connected to road vehicles go right next to this place. No tickets required. Can see lot of plastic bottles and covers thrown out. Please avoid dumping waste here when you visit.

Beautiful photogenic place situated at the backwater of Hemavathi reservoir. The road leading to the place is not in good shape. So drive carefully. When the Hemavathi reservoir is full, the church gets submerged in water and will not be accessible. The best time to visit would be when the water just starts receding, it provides a wonderful backdrop to the church.

Shettihalli Church is located 200km from Bengaluru in Hassan Karnataka. Built in the 1860s by the French missionaries in India, the church is a magnificent structure of Gothic Architecture. After the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir in 1960 the church was Submerged under water due to the dam, It has since then become a famous tourist spot where people flock to see the half submerged church during monsoon. It is also known as The Submerged Church and The Floating Church.. These ruins are best visited once during the dry season and again during the monsoons. Its a great site for a photo-op.. ⛪✨

If you are planning an sakleshpura trip, this is a must visit place. If you are visiting this place during the rainy season then you can see this church submerged but if you visit this place during summer you can go inside the church and enjoy the place but the worst part is no maintenance here people come and throw all possible things. And there is one more hidden temple in this place and is not visible to the naked eye, if you are carrying a binocular then if you view the point towards the dam you can sear the top part of the temple tower and again it can be seen only during summer.

No one says you are in Karnataka. Just beautiful Gothic charm Despite the decay, the church exudes a sense of history and mystery that is truly mesmerizing. It's a place where time seems to stand still, inviting contemplation and reflection amidst its fading grandeur.

Ruins of an old church. Large parts of the structure have collapsed due to constant flooding and no maintenance and many of the walls are defaced by visitors. However it's still nice to visit. You can ride all the way up to the church on cars or bikes. There's ample parking. When the water levels are down, you can even ride into the church ruins. There is also a nice view from the bridge across the reservoir. The approach roads from Hassan highway are scenic, but pass through villages, so you need to ride carefully. No stalls available near the spot, so need to bring sufficient water along

It's a nice place to visit if you are nearby or visiting areas around. It is a remote location so don't expect any shops or other amenities in the near vicinity. You can easily spend 2-3 hrs looking around and appreciating the beauty of ruins/remains of this ancient structure. And can spend some time near the lake shore. It has some excellent silhouettes and will definitely be intriguing for the photographers as it provides a perfect backdrop for photoshoots. Also roads leading to this place are well maintained so shouldn't be a problem reaching there. Try to visit in the early morning or evening as sunsets and sunrises are definitely something you would love to watch. Would have given 5 stars if it could be a little cleaner or maintained.

Came here for Bike Ride. Over all journey was excellent, once we enter from main road to this church village road, we don't get any shops for snacks or other. Recommending to buy water and snacks in advance. Go to this place, enjoy bird sound and never throw any waste in the spot.

Shettihalli Rosary Church – Shot on Samsung This is one of those very rare French Gothic architecture that we can get to see in Karnataka, A fascinating ruin, a romantic shoot location for a few while for some localites of Hassan do believe it to be still haunted! Haha.. Built by French Missionaries in 1860s was unfortunately submerged with the construction of Hemavati Dam & Reservoir. Bangalore – Hassan road is a feast to ride on, it’s about 25kms from Hassan & once you deviate from NH 75 you shall enter narrow country roads which are pretty well maintained & it’s a short ride of 20mins or lesser before you reach the backwaters to this so called haunted yet enigmatic ruins. Have fun & ride safe comrades..

This church deserves to be one of the top tourist spots in Karnataka. The church though in ruins look very majestic. Just like the historic ruins seen abroad. It's an excellent picnic spot as well! The location is very calm and serene. Would recommend to carry drinks/eatables as there are none nearby. Hope this will be preserved by the government.

If you are nearby Hassan or in that way then you might take this decision to visit this place. Just a relaxing place and nothing much there. No traces of complete history of the church, infrastructure completely shattered. One can visit this places two time a year- monsoon and post monsoon. During monsoon the church will be submerged in water to some extent and post that one can roam around the church. This church is near a water body and next time to visit is during sunrise or sunset and the view is amazing. No stalls available, no washroom or anything there. Good place for photo shoot.

Really nice place and great church ruins. it could be made up really good tourist place! the church is more than 100years old. such structure should be protected and atleast boundary marked so as to not find beer bottles and plastic all around it. A little care from locals, tourist and tourism department can protect the structure and nature around it. Very peaceful location.

Good place to visit. It's possible to drive right up to the church. The view of the lake from the church is good too. There is a sense of calmness and peacefulness at this place. Visited on a weekday and the crowd was very less.

Church is in ruins, we went at the break of dawn and the experience was surreal, although it was a cloudy morning. Really worth the visit! Last 200-250m is a dirt road with some ups and downs, so drive carefully!

One of the most powerful & peaceful experience you’d ever come across within the proximity of the temple. Sit down & relax to see how it is to experience a calm & powerful vibe & to realise how wonderful our culture itself is as a whole. Even though we must avoid taking pictures of these holy places, it’s literally irresistible. The temple has some eclectic wall carvings adorning the wall. It’s hard to put it in words how they must’ve built this, anyone explaining the details of the temple can only be a 3000 year old yogi who’s reborn in this era. Must visit to see how beautiful the temple is.

A beautiful Temple built by hoysala temples. The stone carvings are of typical hoysala architecture. There is on ASI guard at the temple. Also one poojari there to do daily poojas. Inside the temple photography not allowed. At external side we can take photos and videos. Nearby there are several other small and medium hoysala temples. Locals can guide us for those places.

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Nuggehalli is one of the architectural beauty of Hoysala Architecture. Carvings at its best. Very less known temple and very less visited monumental beauty. A must visit temple. The carvings are from sand stone and three dimensional. The roof top carvings are amazing wonder. One cannot imagine how 1000 years ago the architect is able carve so intricate and perfect.

The temple is currently undergoing renovation. If you have a Pooja/offering, the main temple will be opened for you. Nonetheless, you can still visit and spend a good time observing this Hoysala architecture, taking a journey back in history. There is ample parking space available.

Visited on weekend ( 3/6/23). Beautiful hoysala architecture temple. Though the Garbhagudi is closed for some renovation work, one can witness the beautiful carvings of this times.

It's looked a very old temple with few visitors. I visited over a weekend, and the temple was not crowded at all. You will find that this temple is a protected site and many instances that the temple was attacked in past. I am assuming by invaders.

Maintenance work is going on during Jan 2024. You can visit the place and have a look at the outer area of the temple.

Absolutely stunning temples. Specially temple number 1, 12 ,13 and 14 are very very unique . These temples could be 1000 plus years old

It is one of the most cleanest places out of all the other historical places.. easy to climb as there are fewer steps, awesome sights from the top

This hill has some divine vibe being continuously renewed by visiting saints for ages. Sit anywhere and directly experience it. To get a real feel and experience of the divinity, it's worth staying in one of the mutt's guest houses for 2/3 days and visit the hill 2/3 times in a day. Sunset is heavenly.

Nice place to visit near Bangalore on the nelamangala route. This is one of the 2 hills in sharavanbelagola the other being vindhyagiri which is walking distance from this one.that has the giant statue ot buddha while this hill top has few ancient temples. Parking can be a hassle as the day progresses and more people start visiting. The view from the top is good and from here you get a good view of the kalyani and vindhyagiri hill which also has couple of ancient temples. Drone photography was prohibited when I went but things could have changed now. There is a guard who monitors people going in and out.

There are jain temples dated back to 980AD here. There are two hills named vindya giri and chandra giri. We have to climb 650 steps for vindya giri and 250 for chandra giri. We visited here with our kid so one of the locals recommended that we visit chandra giri because climbing vidya giri is difficult for a kid. We have to climb this hill without footwear. So it's better to carry socks along with you, you can find people selling socks near the entrance though. The temples were well preserved by the government. We can see some engravings on the hill in ancient language.the view is beautiful from the top of the hill.

Visited this place 2 months ago, when i visited the vindyagiri hill. This is much easier climb compared to the other hill and has lesser steps which is less steep compared to the climb for the big statue of gomateshwara. On top of this hill there are many jain temples(basadi), it is a very interesting place and some of the basadis are amazing in architecture. There is some information given at the entrance of the basadis and some of the pillars which is interesting. The achievements of a king have been mentioned in a stone tablet, which has been translated and shown. overall this place is also good, it is worth visiting if you ever visit shravanabelagola for the main temple with the big gomateshwara statue.

Chandragiri hill is on the northern side of town is 53 meters high. This place is with visiting. This is also known as Chikkabetta. One has to deposit shoes before climbing. You will find lot of inscriptions on the hill. While going to the top one will pass through Bhadrabahu’s cave, as per local historians Bhadrabahu bought Jainism to the South. It has a rich history, the complex has 18 sites including temples inscriptions on rocks in old scripts.For the convenience of visitors each temple is identified by names painted in English and Hindi besides Kannad. The temples are dedicated to Lord Shantinath, Suparshavanath, Chandaprabhu & Parshavanath. This hill is also known as Katparva, “hill of tombs” referring to various religious deaths which occur here. There are 700 instances of Sallekhana and about 100 nishidi memorials of various kinds ranging from the 7th to 16th century. In Parshavanth basadi is a commemorative inscription on a stone mentioning the death of the Jaina teacher in the year 1129. The devotional scene is at its top depicts an ascetic devotee seated in front of enthroned Jaina. You will also find 20 meter high column which was built around 1780, this sthamba was donated by a rich merchant named Chikkadeveraja Wodeyar. One has to climb approx 350 shallow steps. The best time to visit is the dusk.

It is located in Sharvanbelgola. All temples are situated in hill. There are 14 temple built in different time period but all are superb and very beautiful
