As you enter its a wonderland of color and light-Chinese love their lights and here you get abundance and it truly makes it spectacular-very easy going when you enter the cave and its large enough not to meet other mass groups so you can take your time and enjoy.

It was really a pleasure for me to visit that reed flute cave. You must go there once in your life and watch it ith your whole heart. It's beauty is unlimited. I am very thankful to God for giving me a chance to visit this beautiful cave which has multicolored stalactites and stalagmites.

Was amazed by their lighting technic to made the cave looks even more majestic. They are quite creative on makin the theme for each stones that created similar enough to resembles something. I was fortunate that i could understand a but of Chinese, otherwise their story plot line was useless. It’s beautiful overall but the price to enter for me is quite expensive.

Visited Oct 2015 The Reed Flute Cave is a landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into flutes. Reed Flute Cave is filled with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites and other rock formations. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions written in ink, which can be dated back as far as 792 AD in the Tang dynasty. It was rediscovered in the 1940s by a group of refugees fleeing the Japanese troops. Nowadays, multicolored lighting artificially illuminates the cave. The Reed Flute Cave is filled with various stalactites and stalagmites, which are named according to what they look like and the legends surrounding them, Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak, and Dragon Pagoda. One giant stalactite is said to have been the magic spear of the Dragon King, used by the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the Chinese Buddhist classic, Journey to the West. This is an attraction you’ll want to see. It’s about an hour once you’re in the cave with the tour guide. It’s like most of caves except this one they used colored lights to make the entire cave look colored. Apparently there are many spots here where they shot journey to the west as well.

I came to Guilin and went to the Reed Flute Cave at the end of October 2018. When I arrived at the bus location, I had to park at the parking location located below. We can climb up on foot or take the train. The Reed Flute Cave is a cave that is formed naturally but requires a very long time. The view of the stone in the cave is given a very beautiful colorful lights. The air outside and inside the cave is very cool. We have to go up and down stairs to walk down the cave. Then prepare yourself and maybe be able to bring water in a bottle because the cave that must be passed is quite long. If we come there with a local guide, they can tell fairy tales about stones that can resemble several shapes.

A nice experience. It's about a 30 minute slow walk through the cave. The air is cool and the floors are wet and slippery. Take your water bottle and wear good walking shoes. I went with a tour group and they had a short movie playing across the limestone walls/ceiling. There's also a photo booth within the cave where you can get your photo taken by the cave photographer and printed out. The cave guide spoke good English and pointed out limestones formed like snowman, Christmas trees, local vegetables, mushrooms, etc.

Could have been a great scenic spot provided you visit during the proper season but by then it can be rather crowded. Boat ride available if the river hasn't dried out yet. Do visit both in daytime as well as night when it is lit up by artificial lighting.

You can also get lots of local fishing in the lake as well. For me the best time to visit is during evening as you can have 2 different view of the same 2 pagoda.

Very unique double towers. You can use the tunnel under the water to get from Moon tower to sun tower, and they have a lift in Sun tower!

Pretty little lake with two similar yet slightly different looking pagodas in it. Particularly beautiful at night when the sun and moon pagodas are lit up in white and orange. A nice Park right in the centre of Guilin. The view from the star pavilion is great. We met a monk praying at the top of the mountain, saw some monkeys and took a photo in ethnic costumes in front of camel Hill. All in all a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon

Yaoshan cable car and mountain is under renovation when I visited in Sept 2023. The trail to walk up exist but went up from 240m at cable car station to about 360m elevation only, the trail disappeared after. Disappointed, it looks like a mountain with good aerial view of Guilin city.

Great trip up the chairlift to see some of the surrounds of Guilin.  A decent long ride and some interesting views. We had three kids under 1.4m so they couldn't ride alone, so we paid our taxi driver to accompany our oldest. The kids weren't very well secured but most of the time you aren't very far off the ground. Our weather was foggy so we couldn't see really far but it meant the ride wasn't too hot.
