Visited on Sundaynoon...it was very hot! The fort was a fascinating construction...Imagine in the 1700 thr British built something massive like this. Awesome

Nice old British fort in the center of the old town of Bengkulu - staff is helpful (Indonesian only) and they have nice exposition rooms inside the fort - unfortunately only in Indonesian. Entry price is 5k/person (2021) and you can freely walk around in/on the whole fort.

One of historical place in Bengkulu. The architecture is very unique and still original, because they never have a significant renovation. Good history worth visiting

Historical site where you can learn more about English occupation in Bencoolen. The place was clean and well maintained. After you finish fort tour, you can walk to the beach around the fort.

Clean, cheap, and very well-maintaned building and yard. Wide sea side view on top. Not too crowded in holiday yet still lively. Don't expect museum-like environment, it is noisy and no historical explanation.

Long stretch of sandy beach on the southeast side.of Bengkulu - no swimming material, and (unfortunately as on many beaches in Indonesia) with plenty of rubbish. The stalls do not seem to bother as most locals only come here to sit, relax talk and drink/eat and have no interest at all for the beach.

You don't have to know the whole history of Soekarno before visiting this place. The clues of each stuff and wall pictures tell many stories, not only about Soekarno himself but Indonesia as well. The caretaker would like also to ask your questions and help you take photos. And don't forget to wash your hands with the freshwater from the well in the backyard.

The Soekarno Seclusion House is the place where the First Indonesian President Soekarno spent his exile as a prisoner politics (1938-1942) during the Dutch colonial government. Historically, this house with an area of ​​approximately 165 m2 with a blend of European and Chinese architecture was built by Tjang Tjeng Kwai who at that time was working as a distributor of staples for the needs of the Dutch colonial government in Bengkulu, in 1918. But at the time it was rented by the Dutch colonial government. to place Soekarno during his exile in Bengkulu, this house was owned by a Chinese merchant named Lion Bwe Seng. Inside this building contains the relics of President Soekarno. Among them is an ontel bicycle, a set of chairs in the living room, a dining cupboard, Bung Karno's love letter to Fatmawati, and a dressing table and iron bed in Bung Karno's room. This modest house became a silent witness to Soekarno during his exile. There are many historical stories that will be obtained by visiting tourists. Still place this beautiful and well-maintained area is very suitable to visit because it has high historical value which can add to knowledge and history about President Soekarno.

This place might be small, but rich in history. You can learn what Soekarno did while he was exiled in Bencoolen. This is not the exact replica of how the house looked like back then because some part of the house is curated to be museum. But you can still feel the magical atmosphere of it. There is also an old well in the backyard that still in function. The myth says if you wash your face using the water from the well, you can stay young and will get the charisma of Soekarno. Well, it is yours to believe 😋 All in all, this site is worth the visit! The ticket price is so affordable ranging from Rp5k-Rp10k only. I recommend you take the guide to tell the full history and do come in the morning, simply because the sky is so blue and it is more beautiful than in the afterrnoon. I know because I visited this place two times, one in the morning around 8 AM and one in the afternoon around 4 PM. I didn't attach the photos or videos inside the house, so you can witness the magic on your own! 😉

A fusion house of European and Chinese architecture, on Soekarno-Hatta street, RT. 05 RW. 02 No. 02 Anggut Atas village, Ratu Samban sub-district, Bengkulu city, Bengkulu province, originally belonged to a Chinese trader who supplied basic materials for the needs of the Dutch colonial government in Bengkulu. In this house which is a silent witness to history, there is still 1 unit of ondel bicycle, a set of chairs located in the living room, a dining cupboard and a dressing table.

Bung Karno’s exile home (Rumah Pengasingan Bung Karno) is located on Jalan Jeruk – later renamed Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, in the Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City. Bung Karno’s exile home in the town of Bengkulu measures roughly 162 square meters. It is a simple, rectangular house with plain walls, a high pyramid-shaped roof and a spacious yard. The main doors are double leaf with ornate window grills. It is not known when the house was first constructed, but it is estimated to have been built in the early 20th century.

Soekarno's Exile House. This place has historical importance, sadly it is quite small and there really isn't much to see.

This octagon-shaped monument is worth a visit because of the historic value. The monument was established in 1808 as a reminder of the death of an assassinated British governor in Bencoolen, Thomas Parr, and today it still stands strong. The monument is composed of three arched doorways, a doom and six Corinthian columns in reference to ancient Rome and Greece. It is located at the meeting point of Jl. Ahmad Yani and Jl. Mazairi, very close from the Fort Marlborough. No entrance fee. I greatly appreciate efforts made by the authorities for paying proper attention and saving this monument from ruining away.

Fatmawati, the first lady of Republic Indonesia. This house didn't belong to Fatmawati's family, but her relative. Or even she never stay here. But we can find the history of Ibu Fatmawati during her move to Bengkulu from Curup Rejang Lebong and finally meet Bung Karno

This place is actually very beautiful. Unfortunately, some local people sell some random stuffs across the street and they sometimes litter on the lake. I don't recommend you to buy food there since the price is much more expensive than the normal price. However, this place is still worth to visit. One more thing, there is a rare variety of orchids called 'Anggrek Pensil'(Vanda hookeriana) which grows around the lake!

This lake is actually a calming beautiful lake if only it's not located right by the side of a busy road. I personally prefer to enjoy this lake early in the morning when the street is not too busy, so I can enjoy the lake with its serenity and fresh air. In the morning, when the sky clear, you can see mountains with clouds hanging beautifully on the eastern sky. To enjoy the lake, you can sit on chairs provided by the street vendors or just do a quick stop and stand few minutes and go. If you choose to sit, you have to buy drinks or snacks like fresh coconut, sodas, grilled corn, etc but the price will be more expensive than any other places in town.
