My first experience visiting orangutan nature reserve. I was very lucky to meet Seduku, the 52 years old orangutan female🦧 There is also a mini gallery there, it's quite interesting!

It was a good learning experience. It was the fruit season, and the orangutans were not interested in coming out during the feeding time. The park rangers did their best, but to no avail. Nevertheless, the park is so beautiful and pristine. I wish the park let visitors do trekking with a ranger. If you miss seeing the orangutans in the morning before 10:00am, you can still use the same ticket when you come back in the afternoon around 2:00pm.

Entry fee is just rm5, but the luck to meet the orang utan is dependable..if you are lucky, you can see them..don't go during fruit time, they can't be found at that moment..been there at 1pm, a little bit hot and we need to naik bukit about 10 mins..not too high, my 2yo can walk by herself..so, it's ok. Prepare ur own water, as when i went there..the shop was closed. Got toilet and surau. The PIC also really helpful and share lots of info about Orang Utan.

Really amazing to see the orangutas when the keepers called them with offerings of eggs and milk. We were fortunate enough to see 2 on our visit & feel very blessed. Keep up the good work with the rehabilitation 🥰

We had an amazing time here, the guides were thoughtful and informative and didn't make false promises. They informed us not to have high hopes because of fruit season, but we were blessed with 9 beautiful Orang-utan including two with babies. We walked in, it's hot and humid so if you're mobility challenged, take the e-buggy and if you have kids, encourage them to be quiet as noise spooks the animals. This is not a zoo, there are no guarantees so don't rate them negative if you don't see them, enjoy what they are doing to save the animals and rescue them. We had an amazing time and recommend it highly!

Horrible experience, horrible staff... That very rude gym kind of ranger guy lectures very arrogant a visitor that this is not a zoo place.... Of course it's not, this so called wild life reserve is so much WORSE than every zoo we have visited. They lure the animals with many many calls and some food to a feeding platform to which they admit thrn hundreds of visitors. How can they do this to the poor animals. That's really not a zoo it's more like a circus. NEVER EVER A PLACE LIKE THAT SHOULD BE SUPPORTED. Smoking is not allowed of course, but tell my WHY STAFF AT THE ADMIN OFFICE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FEEDING PLATFORMS IS SMOKING??? SEE THE Pic, the guy sitting next to the non smoking sign. As we asked him he got rude as well... Horrible people there.

What a great experience really worthy to go there, and I was so lucky to see Edwin who proudly showed his *middle* finger to us all. Also I would like to say thanks to the local staff for their professional handling of all the guests. We got a very detailed explanation for why Edwin showed us his *middle* finger. In general, it was an amazing experience.

The Orang Utan lives in the wild... So its not a guarantee you could see lots of them at one time when coming here... Definitely should buy tickets for the electric buggy or have to walk aprroximately 1.5km to the Orang Utan place...

Opening times are strictly as stated. I arrived 1.30pm but the ticket counter opens 2pm for the 2 to pm session. RM10 entry ticke for foreigners. The feeding areas are about 1km inside. You either walk the hilly road or pay RM15 for a 2 way buggy ride. I managed to see 5 orangutans up close, at the 2 feeding locations and the resting hut. 55 years old Grandmother, Alpha male, 2 daughters, and a young 8 years kid.

Orang utan only eat fruits- banana, coconut, ciku, papayas, durian and others tropic fruits. They won't eat human as reported by Zuraida. I'm very lucky during feeding time I manage to see 3 orang utan. Make sure you came during feeding time between 8am to 10am or 2pm to 4pm. Don't be late because once orang utan finish their fruits they will go back to their nest. Remark do not bring your own bananas as you are prohibited to feed orang utan.

Friendly and passionate narrator who share information on orang utan. The place is very well maintained, the condition is as good as, if not better than my last visit here many years back. Could see that Sarawak Forestry really spend effort in preserving and maintaining the place. Thoroughly enjoyed the session, we were lucky to see 6 orang utan, including 2 babies. It’s recommended to arrive at least 10-15 mins before the feeding time, you may be able to see the orang utan in action at the holding area before entering the feeding area.

Very good, however now is raining season. So the change for you to meet Orang Utan bit slim however who know you are the lucky one like us 😉

Went to the morning session and we were lucky to see 7 orangutans at two different feeding stations and sitting on a bench. Soooo lucky 🍀 A great experience!

It took us a while to get there from the coastal area of Santubong but the Maxim taxi (download the Maxim app) was cheap and the driver was happy to wait for us to drive us back. Entry was complicated by the fact that you can't seem to register in advance on their website so you have to scan a QR code when you get there to register, for which you have to have your passport number. That said, the registration process was quick and entry is 10 Ringgit with another 15 Ringgit for an electric buggy ride to the guide location. It's worth taking the buggy as it's usually sweltering. The briefing from the ranger was an exercise in lowering expectations about the chances of actually seeing any orang utans during the fruiting season (we were there in November). He told us about the importance of being quiet as orang utans like silence. The groups were way too large and plenty of people were seemingly incapable of being quiet. Constantly chattering and using mobile phones. We waited for 30 minutes at the feeding station before giving up on our noisy group and moving further down the forest track. On our way to the exit a ranger told us that an orang utan had shown up in a different part of the forest so we jogged in that direction and we're lucky enough to see a young orang utan bashing a coconut 🥥 on a tree to split it. Soon after we saw a much older matriarch climbing nearby. All in all a successful outing given that the odds were stacked against seeing any orang utans. Very little in the way of refreshments available. More attention needs to be paid to the management of visitors, especially those who just don't listen as it ruins things for others. I was happy with the visit but, having now seen orang utans in their natural habitat, I don't think I would go back

Here is the pocket friendly escape into the wild, where the entrance fee is rm5. If you are not up for a 1km walk, the rm10 buggy ride might be a good call but u could miss out the nature sceneries along the way. As you enter, the serene atmosphere welcomes you, surrounded by natural melody of leaves and distant bird calls. The staff are also friendly and knowledgeable about the orangutan. Unfortunately, due to the raining season, the orangutan tend to wander deeper into the reserve as they are freely move around in the reserve. If you would like to come here, best to avoid rainy and fruit seasons to seek a guaranteed orangutan sighting.

Thank you Mas from OOHA for being such an amazing guide. We saw 8 Orangutans, including a baby!! It was so amazing seeing them in their natural habitat. The reserve seems committed to letting them be wild which was amazing.

Need to register prior to buying tickets. Went during fruit season (Dec) whilst we were lucky and saw 4 orangutans, ranger shared that there were three days in a row where no orangutan appeared at all. Paid 10 ringgit per pax and took a slow walk in. Do note that you will be walking on the road as no walking path was open when walking in. Easy walk just slightly longer around 1km each way. Do follow instructions of the rangers to keep safe especially if any of the alpha males appear

We reached there at around 1 pm on a rainy day. Getting there and back by Grab is very easy. We were able to see an Orangutan who had come down to eat. It was an unforgettable site and I'm very glad that we did this trip.

Extremely well-maintained nature reserve in Semenggoh. I highly recommend booking a package from Klook or other similar websites as it can be quite difficult to get there via Grab or taxi. It is important to manage your expectations because there are "feeding seasons" for the Orang Utans. I went in February and it turned out to be the "off-peak" season for the Orang Utans so tragically I did not manage to see any.

One of my favourite Nature Reserves in Kuching. Very well maintained, surrounded by beautiful trees. Park guides are friendly and had a good sense of humour with the visitors. It was fruiting season when we visited so we couldn't meet any orangutans. We hope we could meet some orangutans next time! Nonetheless, it was a nice visit to the park. They now do not allow cars to drive in so you can choose to take the buggy car (RM10 per ride) or take a walk (15-20 mins) and enjoy the view!

Most of the area in the park are closed. Which makes the only attraction here the Orang Utan. The entrance ticket is cheap. It is a bit of walk to the Orang Utan area so beyter take the buggy which cost more than the entrance fee. Hope to see other attractions of the park reopen.

Really enjoyed our visit. Very interesting to see traditional buildings and food production techniques. Really friendly and helpful staff who showed great enthusiasm for their heritage and crafts. Sampled some of the delicious food made by the staff. Cultural show was excellent with elements of humour and crowd participation. Understandably, post covid there is quite a lot of renovation work taking place so not all areas are open but this does not unduly impact the visit as there is still lots to see. Overall, you can easily spend a fulfilling half a day at this cultural village. Definitely worth a visit.

Interactive and fun! Recommended to everyone in order to understand Borneo cultures and complexity of the social structure of Sarawak, Borneo, or even whole Malaysia. Lots of places to eat traditional treats. Do not miss the performance in the theater. It happens twice a day.

My opinion is 1. Overpriced 2. Not well maintained 3. Event in each of the houses is so so But, a 45m traditional show at theatre is so good I've rated this place 5. Please make this place great again.

It took 3hours est to complete whole walkabout and visiting. Show time 1130am & 4pm daily. Buy ticket online to get better price else you can pay higher price at the counter. Bring along umbrella to avoid sun & rain. Come visit yourself to know about the history & culture and how does it looks like inside the every houses.

A must visit place in Kuching, Sarawak if you want to know to first hand about Sarawak's culture and their harmonious way of living among with other races and clans. The place is situated at Mount Santubong. A picturesque place, you never wanna miss this place. Dont miss their cultural show..11am n at 4pm. This is the place where the infamous international rainforest music festival is held. The next one is in June 2022.

While staying at Damai beach the driver of the shuttle recommend us to come here. It was an awesome experience that I will literally never forget with a little bit of comedy and very educational but someone entertainable (yes that is a new word). I got to see many things and awesome history which I love! I will definitely recommend you to come here and try it.

Definitely must visit. The various indigenous lodgings displayed were really eye opening and you get a real feel of what it's like in the jungle dwellings. The cultural show was great too - lively and totally unique.

Nice place to visit, takes around 1.5 hours for the whole trip inside. They have 2 sessions for their 45mins live performance, 11.30am and 4.30pm, so you'd need to plan your trip in advance. Getting your entrance ticket online is slightly cheaper than getting it on site. The drive to this village takes around 1hour. They also have an app to download and collect stamps for discounts, would be fun to entertain kids. Good place to learn more if you're still a student studying for exams.

Received very vibrant and receptive welcome by the crew. Awesome performance by the team during cultural show. Some of facilities under maintenance, understandably. Advise to bring sunglasses and wear light clothes, very hot and humid. Only open from 9am to 4pm, cultural show at 11:30 am

Pretty cool experience if you're interested in how the indigenous tribes of Sarawak lived, but you'll need some context probably from the Borneo cultures museum or Wikipedia to get a better idea of their history. The show was a definite must but it was a little pricey at rm85 for a show. It was rm117 to include their lunch, which was good for two people.

Excellent fun and educational experience. Though there are only about 7 houses to visit, each one is unique and has a small activity by a local staff. Even tried my hands on some sumpit (blow pipe) action. The buildings certainly in need of maintenance & TLC and with more visits, they hopefully will be able to to do it with additional funds. The location is quite an hour drive from Kuching and you need at least 3 hours to really savor the experience there. They even have cultural show in the morning and evening sessions. Don't miss it.

Cheaper if you buy the tickets online. Do note that the activities are not occurring the entire day. There are only 2 show times a day and due to heading there between the show times, we did not catch the show due to the long wait. Activities were also not ongoing when we arrived where we were informed they would only resume at 2pm. Lots of houses but not very well maintained. They offered some refreshments in one of the long houses. Overpriced should you head there at the wrong time of the day otherwise would have been a more fulfilling experience.

Beautiful place and everyone is so friendly. We watched the performance at 11:30am and it was AMAZING. The lady in the Chinese farmhouse was lovely and knowledgeable. We had a great chat.

I remembered when I came here the first time as a student many, many moons ago and this place was definitely magical! It was truly a living museum. Over the years, improvements has been made and as much as these improvements are, the magic has left the place. Let me list the good and the bad… The good: 1. There’s more options for packages which includes a stay at one of the houses of your choice at different rates. 2. The restaurant comes with a package in your ticket if you want it - giving you the option of the ethnic cuisines. 3. The performance at the main stage (lagenda hall) is as good as it was before. The bad: 1. Most of the houses are run down - needing a lot of refurbishment. Some of the homestays are not available. 2. There are barely any staff at each of the houses interwxting with the visitors. There’s one very nice lady at the Melanau house who still talks to us about the house history but the rest are either mute or busy playing with their phones, sleeping or just loitering around. That “welcome” isn’t there anymore. 3. Only the Malay house (or rather the gazebo) still welcome visitors with performances. I asked the dressed performer at the Melanau house and they answered “come to the leganda hall, you’ll see us dance there”. Years ago, each house would perform all day but those times are gone. 4. Only the Orang Ulu house still makes kuih. In the old days, every house would be making trinkets or cooking something to sell or let the visitors try and make the traditional kuih or food or jewellery. That is also now gone. The management need to pay close attention to reviving the glory of the old days of the museum if it wishes to sustain. We recommend the use of voice over prompter with sensors that tells visitors the information of the the traditonal houses, its history and features. Staffs should always be available to greet, welcome and interact with visitors; not just sit around and loiter. Most of all, the condition of the houses needing restoration is paramount in maintaining the museum itself. Looking forward to a new Sarawak Cultural Village.

We enjoyed out trip here.. Being in Kuching for the first time. People are friendly here. Traffic is also stress free to drive in kuching. We rented a car to move around. It was quite an interesting experience to go into each of the seven houses that depict how the six different ethnic tribes live. The performance which is offered twice a day is magnificent. Interesting leaning place to visit, Enjoyed the show and restaurant. Need a lot of work to make it worth visiting for all age. Need to improve fasilities for disable especially on wheelchair to enjoy the displayed houses.

It was AMAZING! This truly is a living museum. The guides/staff are friendly and happy to provide you with information regarding the rich history and culture of multiple ethnic groups in Sarawak. Unfortunately, there were a few renovations during my visit and I was unable to fully experience the site. Nonetheless, I'll definitely come back here soon!

Definitely one of the places to go to learn about Sarawakian diverse cultures! So many things to see and learn and try here. The place is about one hour away from Kuching Waterfront, and public transport seemed still to be a rarity in the area, so maybe if you go with friends or family you can try renting a car to go there. I myself took the Damai Loop hydrogen bus from the bus stop in front of Riverside Majestic Hotel. It only runs on weekends three times a day, so make sure you get the schedule right! (It's in one of my photos here.) I bought the ticket for RM95 as a foreigner. This ticket includes the traditional dance performance held twice a day in a nice, air-conditioned auditorium. There's a restaurant where you can try various local dishes and drinks. Make sure you wear comfortable and safe shoes and clothes - you'll have to not only walk, but also climb stairs at some houses!

The place is about 40 minutes from city center. If you want to know more about the various racial groups in Sarawak, this is the place. Except for the cultural show at 11.30am, most of the tour is by yourself. There was no one to guide you at each of the cultural houses. Some of these houses were empty (bare). It would be good if the host/ organiser would place 1 or 2 staff to brief visitors on the uniqueness of each house.

Nice place for a quick glance of the Sarawak traditional culture, tribes and people. Good show at the end of the tour inside a theatre, this place has air conditioned. It's a good half day tour.

Beautiful setting and reconstructed longhouses but not all have staff to explain the nuances of the houses. There are placards with QR codes but I didn’t want to spend my battery so signs with text would have been much more preferred!! The 45-minute dance performance at the end was a highlight. Beautiful costumes and music. The ticket is quite expensive but slightly cheaper if bought online. There is also a poor, whelping scruffy, medium terrier milling around. Please someone feed it!! And eventually spay. Shame on the site management for not caring for this poor pup!!

-depending on the weather & your time of visit, it could be so hot on a sunny day .. so bring your own umbrella & bottled water..plus if its a sunny day, u could see a clear view of the gorgeous mount santubong -the whole visit could be from 1 -2 hrs, more if you include the theatre performance -some places/parts of building(s) need maintenance -bring cash, you may want to buy some local food from any official sellers at any "longhouse/house" or stalls that you're visiting or pass by

The houses are moderately maintained. There is no signs so less appreciation of the culture if no guide. The show is a must watch. It is 45mins in a air-cond hall. The performers are passionate.

It is one of the must visit attractions if you come to Kuching and would like to explore all the tribes in Sarawak. In total, you should spend bout 3 hours to visit all the tribes' houses and cultural dance.

Perfect location to visit Kuching. We were in room 110 facing the main street. Nice, clean, spacious, but noisy! Ask for a backyard room, eventually. The complimentary breakfast is ok: coffee or tea, with toasted bread, jam and peanut butter

Room is very small as hardly enough space to put 2 luggages. The bathroom is a "wet" bathroom type with no shampoo provided. There is no elevator to get from ground to 1st or 2nd floor. The location is very central in town and walking is easy around to get to the tourist spots. Can be noisy with crowd having conversations while smoking outside the veranda.

Clean budget lodge with very basic amenities in front of waterfront. They serve light breakfast as well. Friendly and helpful staffs. There are nearby food shops within walking distance. However, room has thin walls in an old building. Suitable for economical stay.

The location is great; the lodge is a bit shabby. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The decor is interesting - lots of local artefacts.

Only given 3 stars, for the great position and lovely staff. The rest would be Zero. Breakfast an absolute joke, only offer toast, but the toaster was broken, tea, but the kettle didn't work. Walls in bedroom paper thin,you could hear everything from the next door rooms, tv very old and unwatchable, sheets didn't fit the bed and were torn, and the air conditioner had no controls.

Love this place. It has unique and antique furniture. This lodge are suitable place to stay because it's surrounding with restaurants, Sarawak Kek Lapis, souvenirs shop, Darul Hanah Bridge you just can walk from this place. And many more. Overall this place is suitable for you to get everything just by walking.

Overall, i like it..the staff are friendly and very helpful. The room are okey and simple..the location are very strategic very close to waterfront..just step outside you already saw waterfront in front your eyes. Very good experience for me..

Male receptionist was rude during check-in. The worst locals I've met during my trip in Kuching.

The Lodge was a great place to locate during our stay in Borneo during November/December 2018. Arshad, Abu, Mary, Zack and Zienon were friendly and helpful night or day, whatever the hour. When we traveled overnight or several days to national parks and wildlife refuges our extra baggage was stored under lock and key while we were away, making our excursions so much easier. We stayed in multiple rooms, but our favorite was Room 214, centrally located. There are festive events and activities on the waterfront and an all-night open air restaurant behind the Lodge and Room 214 insulated us to a good degree from the reveries. Returning from excursions away from Kuching we welcomed the ability to sleep early.

It was a wonderful day in this museum that encapsulated the essence of Sarawak's history and culture while allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the experience. Very well-thought out and remarkably beautiful displays and infrastructure. It was a pity that some of the exhibits with interactive options were not available that day, but would definitely go back for another visit. The best RM20 I have ever spent 💖

Time: Weekend, 3pm Crowd: Average, No waiting/queing Suitable for kids: Yes Recommended time spent: 4 hours A grand and modern museum, beautifully curated for all age levels, with in-depth historical information about Sarawak from the paleolithic age, up to the medieval times, The Brunei Sultanate reign, James "White Rajah" Brooke era, and the modern day Sarawak. This is not your average museum (at least for the Sarawakian), all 5 galleries featured interactive learning experience not only suitable for kids, but for the adults as well. Lots of interesting stuffs to learn and absorb, so make sure to arrive early so that you can spend your day in peace. Galleries closed at 4:30. Just bare that in mind. Overall, fantastic experience, exactly what is needed in Sarawak right now to showcase our culture to the whole world.

Currently as per Jan 2022 only 4 museum open to public. This is Natural History Museum. Great spesimen to see.

It's a big muzeum and need to spend at least 2hrs as There are 4 levels. There are so many things to see and educational too. The view is also nice. I arrived at 3pm, walk in, but haven't finished going around the muzeum. Definitely will come back.

A fine example of cultural sensitivity and design. Excellent exhibit. Only negative is that the description plates almost can’t be e read because of tiny script and insufficient light directed on the writing. Definitely worth a visit however- a magnificent architectural building

This museum was blown away by the quality and variety of exhibits on display. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to Sarawak local art, history, and culture, and was truly impressed by the attention to detail and thought that went into each and every exhibit. One of the highlights of my visit was on the 3rd floor. The accompanying information and context provided by the museum really helped me understand and appreciate the piece on a deeper level. The museum staff were also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making my visit even more enjoyable. Overall, I had an incredible experience at Sarawak museum and would highly recommend a visit to anyone who loves art, history, and culture. Whether you're a seasoned museum-goer or a first-time visitor, there is something for everyone to enjoy and learn.

Its worth the visit and enriching experience.The new museum also have various interactive exhibits which instil the interest to explore on the topic. Make sure u stop by at the Restaurant. For coffee lovers do try their various coffee drinks their offer. if you are lucky enough do ask for their hidden “coffe kayangan” which not in their menu. i just come to know abt it after told by their friendly barista😄.

Building is awesome but content could be much more interesting.

The old Sarawak Museum used to be an excellent place to visit, on a hot day. Reputed to be the very best in South-East Asia, when I was a teenager I saw Rajah James Brooke's sword on permanent exhibition there, 😀 😄 and this had awed me about Sarawak's history ever since.

Newest Museum in Kuching, Sarawak. The Borneo Cultures Museum, touted the biggest (30,000sqm building) in Malaysia and second largest in Southeast Asia. Free entrance until further notice. Booking for visit is not required. Brand new five level museum with spacious display for people to enjoy 100 years of Sarawak history. First level house the interactive displays for the kids to enjoy & learn about the environment. The rest of the levels has many interesting Borneo forest animals & tribal items displayed. Over 1,000 artefacts that boast the rich culture and heritage of the indigenous peoples of Borneo and Sarawak, with 30% interactive features. Definitely worth at least a couple of hours or half a day to explore at your leisure. Must see for tourists or residents who are keen to learn about the rich history of Sarawak. There is a museum gift shop at ground level as well. Still a little empty as it’s new, more displays or online audio guide assistance could be added for improvements.

Plenty of parking if you drive your own car. The counter service is very friendly and exceptional. Private charter boat to the Bako National Park is $200 round trip, go and come back based on your own schedule. If you plan to share with others, round trip fare is $40 per person but you do not control the boat schedule. Overall, a great experience to see such an exceptional National Park with mesmerizing sceneries.

Beautiful park with picturesque places and many routes, only one of them was closed at the moment. The price for the ferry is 100Rm for 1-5 persons one way. Bus there goes just for 1rm right next to the market. (Red bus 6a) You can meet the proboscis monkey there in the morning or evening. There are also many other different species you may find. It's better to have a night there and take a night guided tour to see more wildlife.

Open at 8 am. Return ticket cost, RM 40 / person. (For 5 people). The staff are very nice. The lady at the ticket counter speak very good English. She helped us to get taxi from Jetty. Register to Bako National Park also in here. Bring your IC/passport.

Nice trails. Can see all 7 ecosystem in one place. Silver leaf monkeys and proboscis monkeys are the main attraction

Park is very nice, although I didn't see the monkeys. It is worth staying one night in the park. All the trails are maked well, but the map you get at the entrance could and should be better. The boat trip to the park is too high compared with entrance fee and overnight stay

If you want to go to Bako National Park, you have no choice but to go through this ferry terminal. It's not usually very busy. You have to charter a boat for RM200 two-way, and it can fit up to five people. You can either wait until other people arrive and are keen to share it with you - or bear the entire cost yourself. The boat then waits until you (or your entire group if you are sharing) are ready to return later in the day. If you are hoping to share, then definitely do come earlier in the day around 8-10am as that is the time most others will be coming too and so your odds will be higher. It's not a very efficient or cost-effective system, but it works, I guess. The saving grace of this boat terminal is how beautiful the park itself is once you reach.

So today I went there and there are a lot of tourists because of raya holiday. We registered and bought our tickets for boat then started to wait. The staff told us she will inform and lead us to our boatman, but one hour passed, those who came after us already got their boat, but not us. When we confront with the staff she just continuingly asked us to wait. So what we do, we just hop into the next arriving boat, and ta-da that's it, you don't need to wait for the staff, you saw the boat stop by, juz go and show the boatman your ticket. Aside of this, my gosh it has the worst washrooms that I have ever seen in my life. The toilet bowl in men's room is spilling out of urine, can you imagine that scene??? I heard women's room also had similar situation. We can even smell the disgusting odour from the waiting room. Like seriously what the hell, what would those foreigners think about us, we are like a poor third world country. PLEASE FIX YOUR TOILET

Excellent national park! We pay rm40 per boat for 2 way per pax. Excellent service from our boat guide, stop and explain everything about the park. The boat pick us up from Pandan kecil so that we don’t have to hike back to the park HQ.

If you're looking to go to Bako National Park, this is the place to get a boat ride to the park. The boatman will take you to "Bako National Park HQ" first. At the "HQ", you will need to register your name at their customer service counter (southwest of the port the boatman would drop you at) before you can begin your trail walk or stay there. There is also a restaurant next to the said customer service counter where, for a meal, you can select and mix local side dishes together with some rice on a plate. There is also a toilet there, free of charge to use. The trails, which begin at the port in the opposite direction of the customer service counter throughout the national park, are colour-coded. Coloured paper is stuck onto nearby trees alongside the trail to indicate the one you are on and provide certainty that you are headed the correct way. These trails would take you to some of the sought-after attractions in Bako National Park, including sea stacks and rock formations. Fret not if you're uncomfortable with going on a trail by yourself or with family without guidance for this company also provides guides but at an additional cost. Attached to this post is a picture showing the respective colour for each trail you could take. Though it is said on Bako National Park's website that there are many proboscis monkeys in Bako National Park, it isn't guaranteed that you will see any. You will need to be very observant to witness them despite the circumstance that you are tired from walking so much on the trail under the scorching sun and you have probably developed a slight headache. Also, if you are not up for walking the trails to the other destinations in the national park, you can ask the boatman to take you there straightaway. The costs to take you to these destinations are attached to this post too, and they are added unto the price you paid to go to the "HQ", i.e. e.g. Price to go to Teluk Paku= Price to go from the jetty to Bako National Park HQ + Price to go from HQ to Teluk Paku (i.e., RM24 for 1 to 5 people (one way)). If you are only visiting Bako National Park without staying overnight (half-day) and when returning back to the Bako Boat Association, you will need to call the boatman (yes, there's cellular coverage in the forest) one hour before you want them to fetch you via your cellular device. When returning back to the jetty, there might be a possibility in which low tide occurs, consequently preventing your boatman from entering the port you were dropped off at. If this happens, the boatman will stop his boat near the shore and you would need to take off your shoes, wade through the waves, and climb onto the boat. Closing time is at 3pm, so you have got to call them by 2pm. Overall, although I only managed to spot one proboscis monkey (picture attached to post as well) and one lemur (didnt take a picture of that) and the buffeting ocean waves during the boat ride wet my pants and shoes (advice to future self: bring extra clothes!!), it was really worth the experience, and I definitely recommend visiting this national park to those seeking an insightful and amazing adventure nearby Kuching town. Really nice park, I enjoyed my time in this place

We had a great time at Bako. We went on a weekday and from what I read from reviews, it can get pretty busy on weekends, which decreases the chance of seeing the wildlife. It costs RM180 to hire a guide before setting off on the boat. We had Nizam who spoke very good English and he’s humorous and he’s experienced looking for the wildlife. We had 2 sightings of the proboscis monkeys.

Make sure that you are aware, whilst it only costs RM20 to enter the park, you have to charter a boat to get there at RM200! So it can be expensive. We were lucky in finding the most lovely people to share a boat with and then they came with us on our trek even if it possible more strenuous than they might have otherwise done together. They were so nice in fact, we went to their house to have dinner that evening in a true show of Malaysian hospitality ♡ As for the route, it was sufficiently tough (route 4), even though it was not route 10 The Lintang, as we had initially intended. A very beautiful national park outside of Kuching. A must visit place if you enjoy taking short hikes and enjoy the nature. The views in the trial are very beautiful

They renovated this old jetty and now is the main jetty to go to the Bako National Park. The jetty is very modern and safe, and facilities include a cafe, souvenir shop, clean toilets, ticket and information counter, and a car park. Staff here speak English, and boat & park ticket prices are all stated clearly. Boats are small, hence maximum 4-5 persons per boat. Big groups will have to take a few boats. The journey to the national park is about 15 to 20 minutes. You arrive at the Bako NP jetty. When you go back, you may depart from the park beach or arrival jetty.

Magic place to stay 2 nights minimum! They have cheap accommodation inside the national park (book in advance via the official Sarawak Booking app)

I wouldn't recommend going during the rainy season, the hikes all full of mud, and most animals in hiding.

An incredible nice place, worth to visit and “hunt” the monkeys. We spent there about 6 hours with a 5 and 1 year old kids and, luckily, in the end, we saw one proboscis monkey 🙈 and, of course, highly recommended to hire a guide. Without him, probably we wouldn’t have noticed a viper or a flying lemur 🙈 FYI: you can’t get there during low tide so need to come early (around 7 AM) in the morning or later in the day (around noon)

The beginning of an adventure. RM20 to enter the National Park and RM200 to book a boatman for the ride both ways. If this is your first visit, you will want to arrange with a guide here at the ferry terminal to bring you through the national park.

The jewels of Sarawak. For the outdoor people. Memang terbaik. Travelling here is via boat. Which cost around Rm200 per boat. So its better go in group. The boatman is friend. Everyone here is friendly. And of course the view. Cantik ooooo.

Cat Museum. Located within Kuching Municipal. Cheap entrance fees,full of historical,facts and pictures of cats all around the world. Good place for kids. Not crowded,ample parking space. There's a cafeteria inside. A must for cat lovers 😘😻😹.I like.

What an interesting place to hang out for a day! There are many different interesting facts about cats and all the different types of cats. Some of the statutes look hilarious. One lady donated all of her cat collection to this museum. We spent about an hour here going through everything and checking out all the souvenirs you could buy. Fun place to spend an afternoon and catch a break from the heat.

Of course the Cat City has to have a Cat Museum. It doesn't however live up to being described as a must visit. At 3 Ringgit, it's not expensive. As a light place to visit it is fine. Has a varied mix of items on display, from your plush store Garfield to taxidermy. Desperately needs curation and updating, to it's potential of being an interesting museum, and worthy of "Kuching Must Visit" label.

A must visit attractions for cat lovers 🙀👍 The museum contains cat's history in different races, and also cat's real dead body maintained nicely inside the glass with control temperature. Lots of cats statue and also collections. The whole museum it's not big, rather small but lots to read and see. Perfect for kids 📖😊 Entrance was reasonable and cheap, Rm 3/pax. Worth it 👍👍

Firstly, there are no live cats in this museum. But it is still quite a fun place to visit. Tickets are relatively cheap and theres *a lot* of cat based photos, newspapers, statues, trinkets, as well as facts about cats in Malaysia. The souvenir shop is also pretty nice, and quite a few of the exhibits are for sale (but those are very pricey!).

You will find this place interesting if you are a fan of cats. There are no real cats though, just tons of articles, statues and novel paintings and history of cats in general. In my opinon, coming once will suffice especially if it is your first time in Kuching, the land of cats. Price for entry is really cheap RM 3, and although its a bit far from the city area, grab is just a call away. Perfect for kids, family too.

Kucing/Kuching or a cat 101 center. Learn everything about our most beloved pet in this museum. Packed with information and collection about cats from all around the world. Quite impressive collection and archive. But sadly, it's not well organized or not presentable. Just wall after wall of out dated information and display. You can finish all your tours in just under 20 minutes. The entrance fee for an adult is RM3 and for kids is RM2. Honestly, it's not worth it. Please restructure the whole exhibition and be more organized.

Love the whole experience 🥰😍 First, the visitor parking is behind the building. The reception will show you where to go. Please bring cash because the souvenir inside the building do not accept visa 😆 You don't wanna to miss it. (and of course you must pay with cash to enter the muzium)

An underrated museum since it located at the government office. Cheap entrance and there's a small cat accessories near the entrance door. Cat lovers really need to come here! If you're in Kuching, don't forget to drop by okay! 😉 Oh, you also can view Kuching from up here. A great view instead.

A vast collection of all cat things. Including famous cartoons of cat. Though there is no Tom (from Tom and Jerry)😜 Loving every second of it. The building which houses the cats sits on top of the hill looking down spectacular view of Kuching City.

For RM3 (as a foreigner), you can visit the museum that features all things cat and get a free keychain. Cat lovers surely must love it! Some of the things displayed (like pictures) are already old and not very well maintained, though. It's located a bit far from the town center, so you might have to go there using a taxi/Grab car. A plus: it's located on a hill that offers a magnificent view of the town from above. Also: the staff were friendly!

Very beautifully maintained collection of paintings, photos, postcards, ceramics and statues from various epochs and origins, some being for sale at reasonable prices. As of our visit on February 20th, the museum is however no longer free of charge, but takes a nominal ticket price of RM3 for adults and RM2 for children, cash only. Just so you don't stand here empty handed. Overall, the museum is small but features a ton of exhibits, so you can easily spend 30-60 min here and then enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Since I am not a cat lover by any means but don't get me wrong, I don't hate them either. So I cannot recommend to everyone. For me, it is mediocre and it doesn't excite me at all. It is an okay experience. BUT for cat lovers, this is a must place to visit. It is like a bible for cats. For travelers, it is one of the checklist that you must go if you ever come to visit Kuching but just don't put your hopes up too much for this place and you will be just fine.

A well-curated assortment of everything cat-related. I thought it was supposed to be free, but the guy at the entry charged us MYR 3 each. Hope we didn't get scammed!

Very disappointing place. Definitely need to drive up and there is no entrance from the basement covered carpark. Will still need to enter from the first level. There are no cats at all and it’s just sculptures and paintings. The entire building has nothing else except this cat museum and a gallery for the development plans of Kuching. There are no activities at all in the cat museum. Totally not worth a trip.

Good day from the Cat Museum of Kuching, a word that means cat in Malay. If you know what kitsch is, this is the most kitsch place that I've ever visited. If you don't, Google it and take a look at the attached pictures! Memorable, probably for the wrong reasons!
