Piece of paradise, water clear and powder sand. Advice to get a scooter so you can explore the island. Sadly there is some plastic around, and hope the island will not be ruined from upcoming resort

This island is just amazing! One of the best places I have been to in SE Asia. It's perfect if you are looking for a place that didn't got super touristy yet and combines beautiful beaches with the local island life and wild nature. A lot of people say it looks like Thai islands 15 years ago, there are no roads on the island and not all to many resorts. Great place to chill! I

Koh Rong is one of the most beautiful islands around Cambodia. One of the best beach or in other words, one of the most beautiful beach in south east asia, ist the Long Beach (7,5km Long). It’s the beach, where you need to go, the sand is like snow and it sounds the same, when you walk over it. The sand is like snow powder. And the water is crystal clear!!! The second beautiful beach is the 4K beach near the longset pier. On the long beach side, the food options are very limited and it doesn’t taste really good. The prices are really high!!! But on the other hand, you have the most beautiful beach in front of you. The south of the island, 4K Beach and also white beach, there are some few good food options for an average price available.

beautiful islands in southeast asia.But the entertainment facilities on the island are bad.I rented two beach motos on the island,and $60 an hour for a car.Both cars broke down after half an hour of riding,Spent $600 on car repairs.I think it is excusable that one car is broken, but both cars are broken, obviously the business is deceiving consumers.The experience is very poor, don't fall into the trap of the merchant.Never rent recreational machinery☹️☹️🤑🤑

Absolutely paradise Island and in low season some beaches completely empty. Rent a bike to go around.. !!!!be aware of sand flies!!! Prevent with coconut oil, otherwise you will get stung like me and you will compromise your vacation. The bites can be extremely hitching!!!

It feels odd to review an island created by Mother Nature, the white sand is incredible and the water is clear. But the human aspect deserves a review. The Royal Group is going to turn this island into a Chinese resort with casinos, golf courses and a new airport. Many people agree, the island is already expensive but this will make it a luxury destination. We spoke with a couple local people from the village and they are far from happy about the island take over. They are losing their land and are powerless to stop the developers. Simply put, you don’t get what you pay for on Koh Rong. Currently a 15 minute taxi costs $20, alternatively a scooter is $15 per day. Nightly accommodations are extremely expensive for the quality and service provided. We stayed in a basic bungalow without A/C, hot water, fridge, kettle and the electric only worked from dusk til dawn. Sadly this bungalow was the same price as our favorite hotel(on a beach, complete amenities) in Vietnam, but to compare the two is laughable. Food is double to triple the price from the mainland and neighboring countries. If you’ve been to Vietnam or Thailand, the hotels, restaurants and services will surely disappoint you.

Slice of Paradise. Clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Buuut - also depends where exactly you go. We stayed at Luna Resort for that much needed peace and quiet after a hectic Phuket and Koh Chang. Totally worth it. But would advise to come with some 7-Eleven shopping before coming as no shops nearby like in the beaches in the south. Loved it

My experience on Koh Rong left me utterly dissatisfied, contradicting the dream that was sold to me of a paradise with white-sand beaches and crystal-blue waters. While those elements were present to some extent, the pervasive issue overshadowing the island is the alarming amount of rubbish strewn across its shores. Staying at Koh Touch only intensified this problem, with an overwhelming amount of litter around the numerous restaurants. Even resorts, where efforts were occasionally made to clear debris in the immediate vicinity, failed to address the broader concern. Long Srt Beach, extending a wide length of the island, was shockingly inundated with refuse. Resorts along the beach made token efforts to tidy the area directly in front of their deckchairs, but just a short stroll down the beach revealed heaps of rubbish washing up from other regions or carelessly discarded by locals. Even seemingly quieter beaches like Coconut Beach and Long Beach (Sok San) were not immune to this issue, albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Witnessing people sunbathing and taking pictures seemingly oblivious to the garbage surrounding them left me deeply disheartened. Despite the evident problem, there was a stark lack of visible efforts to address it. Instead of witnessing active initiatives to combat the issue, I observed half-naked sunbathers and individuals practicing yoga amidst encroachments of plastic. The island has been declared unsafe for swimming due to contamination, yet this did not deter people from indulging in the waters. The stark contrast between the island's natural beauty and the blatant environmental neglect is disconcerting and demands urgent attention.

I love this island. It has the perfect blend of fun and beauty. If you want peaceful paradise there is a beach for it. If you want all night party there is a beach for it.... Never seen more perfect sand and sea. Also Koh Rong Ink do great tattoos and Koh Rong Pub Crawl is really fun 😁

Interesting mixture from 5 star resorts to a backpacker village, beautiful beaches and all that goes along with each.

A nice small Island. To relax on. Find a private beach at a resort, or join in on the fun at Lonset or Koh Touch. With many people.

Fun day trip with Denis and co. Brought to some great beaches but some don't have a lot of shade so bring cover-ups and suncream to prevent burning. Has a bit of a party boat atmosphere so skip if that's not your thing. Snorkelling was super fun and equipment provided. Fishing was fine, had two opportunities to fish since the first stop didn't have enough fish and a few people managed to catch some at the second stop so that was exciting. Lunch on the beach was rice, some salad, chicken and a fried egg plus the fish that was caught and some veg soup. There's no facilities on the boat and the only actual toilet stop is at the village which is one stall for men...just something to bear in mind. Swimming with the plankton was the highlight for me. Wouldn't repeat the trip (because of seasickness) but glad I did it.

We had an absolutely amazing tour. Adam was really nice and helpful and his knowledge is profound. Even though the visibility in the water wasn't that great and it rained for a bit he did his best to offer us the best experience he could.

We took the Open Water Course (level 1 PADI). It’s a 3 days course while you learn how to dive seeing corals, fishes etc. It allows you to dive alone til 18 meters at the end of the formation. The nature and corals are quite preserved and beautiful! It was an amazing experience, we met a really nice dive master. We highly recommend this!

Took on the open water course during my stay on Koh Rong. The folks at Koh Rong Dive Centre were some of the friendliest I’ve come across during our travels throughout SE Asia. Extremely knowledgeable team, so you know you are in good hands. I had an amazing time, and can’t thank them enough.

I did my PADI Open Water Course here in Januar 23 and had a great time! Great team and especially my Dive Master Hakan explained everything calmly and taught me a lot while diving. The coral reefs are breathtaking. Besides many small schools of fish we saw octopus, puffee fish and even stingrays. It was a great experience. Thank you very much! See you next time =)

We did our Open Water Certification with Koh Rong Dive Center and we had an amazing experience! Our instructur Gözde was so nice and made us feel confident in the water. We really recommend going diving here!

We had a great time with the Koh Rong Dive Center. My son did the Open Water Certification and I did 2 days of fun diving incl. refreshment. They were very accommodating to our schedule and everything was in a very relaxed atmosphere. Gözde is an excellent teacher.

First time ever diving, but the people from Koh rong dive center made sure I felt secure, save and most imporantly had fun! Together with my friend we got our open water PADI. Thank you Onur! And if you are in need of food advice for around the island they have the best tips as well!

Great diving trip. The underwaterworld is great here. Loads of (small) fish and coral. Visibility wasn't great, but probably caused by the rain we had. The dive guides were good and enthusiastic as well!

My son and I completed our scuba diver certification with KR Dive. The check in and education process was efficient and clear and our instructor was super diligent and safety conscious. The dives themselves were shallow and easy because of the course we were doing and the conditions but we still saw some great sea life and coral. There are some other Chinese based businesses also in the village and I would stay very clear, they have zero respect for the marine life or coral + I’m unsure if they are linked to any credible certification. All in all a great experience!

We did our refresher dives with the team and they were great. We had small numbers on the boat and it was a relaxed feel. We were a bit unlucky with visibility, but I was SO surprised with the beautiful coral and sea life we got to see. The coral was beautiful. I honestly didn’t think we’d see much, but it was great even with the poor visibility. Highly recommend.

At Koh Rong Dive Center, Gözde and her team made my diving experience absolutely incredible. Their expertise, friendly attitude, and top-notch equipment ensured a safe and unforgettable adventure. The diving spots they chose were breathtaking, showcasing the region's marine beauty. Highly recommended!

Our instructor was great, the boat and equipment was great. The corals were very beautiful. The dive sites are not as awe inspiring as those you can visit in Thailand but it was good fun nonetheless. We saw mainly shoals of little fish and also a sting ray :-) We visited in Feb 2023

Glowing experience! Couldn’t recommend this Padi approved dive center enough! Halan and Onur are amazing Padi instructors! There were 5 of us and 2 were quite nervous and their calm, professional, straight forward approach allowed everyone to feel confident and have a wonderful dive! They took the time to point out things underwater and then explained what they were when we surfaced. The tanks are heavy and quite awkward for me, but everyone was there to help in anyway they could. The Koh Rong Dive center was easy to communicate with when making reservations, once in Cambodia they were able to help us coordinate transportation to/from area, and the dive master brought a camera down and for a reasonable amount $ offered you photos of your dives- which was awesome !! Can’t go wrong!!

Me and my friend had the best time doing our open water diving course. The crew was amazing and made sure we were safe at all times. Even with the rough sea this week, they were able to manage to deal with these factors and made sure we had a good time. We would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in diving around Koh Rong to go to this dive center :)

The best diving school ever, very kind and professional instructors. I sent my 11 and 13 year old teenagers alone on a half day trip with them, and they had the best diving experience, including under water videos and pictures - i highly recommend! Very good value for money as well!

Such kind and professional people! Had a group of 3 book a last minute dive less than 24 hours before. The staff was so accommodating to fit us in and the price was more than reasonable. The coral was gorgeous and we got to see a giant jellyfish, a tiny octopus, barracuda, and other fun creatures. Many thanks to the staff 🐠

I did two fun dives with Koh Rong Dive center and they were amazing! Our guide Vitalijs was wonderful, showing us around the beautiful coral reefs and making sure we felt comfortable and safe the whole way! The dive locations were lovely and we even saw a puffer fish! I would definitely recommend this dive centre for anyone wishing to learn or take part in a fun dive ! 🥰 thank you!

I can highly recommend the diving center, the crew is super friendly & the explanations were extremely detailed. 👍 We really enjoyed our first dive with Hakan! We felt very safe during the dive.

A must do in Koh Rong ! We had a great time thanks to Nat who was a very funny, patient and knowledgable instructor. Views from mamma tree on the bay are very nice, especially at sunset (which was the case for us). We also saw the monkey family living there having fun on the bridges as well as many geckos and animals. The zip lines and bridges are diverse and in great condition and safety was well ensured by Nat all along the way. We recommend it !

The experience with High Point Rope Park is so amazing. The guide is wonderful. I highly recommend it, and you also save cost for ferry to the island. I can join the tree top adventure as well as the zip line to see the island from high view.

My husband went here during KNY2020 holiday. I was able to follow from the ground for a bit with our baby, then we headed back to the checkin office/treehouse and chilled in a hammock until my husband came back. He saw some monkeys and a flying squirrel. The instructor helped take lots of great photos and videos! Highly recommend

I enjoy my trip here very well. The environment is nice and quiet which is perfect to relax your soul from the exhausted busy life style. Definitely, recommend you to stay a couple of nights. BTW, if you are dropped off at the Sok San Village, you will have to walk around 10 minutes. It would be perfect if the resort also pick up service from the drop off point.

Incredible beach and sea. It's a hidden gem. No people, white sand, sky-blue water. If I'm the owner of this resort, I'd take care a bit more of it. There was a lot of garbage on the tables by the sunbeds and also on the beach. We spent here 3 days and there was no WiFi... Breakfast was delicious! Lunch was average and expensive compare to other places in the village.

Five star for the beach because it very beautiful. One star for the hotel’s restaurant. The restaurant should not be on this beautiful beach . _Waited for half hour to get an order. _waited for an hour to get foods. I come here to relax , but get more stressed because of this restaurant. WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN

We stayed at Sok San Beach Resort for 5 nights this last month and really liked the place. Our room - we actually booked one of the "Family Rooms" was very spacious and - while a bit rustic - equipped with everything we needed. When we arrived the staff at first had to search for quite some time to find our reservation in the system (that part was a little unsettling after a long day of travel to get to this island hotel). But after this initial 'hick-up' they really went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The beach in front of the hotel is pristine, the water dreamy-turquoise blue ... just like in a travel brochure! Breakfast buffet was okay, it was nice that they had an "omelette bar" with staff preparing your order right in front of you. And for lunch/dinner - if you didn't want to have all meals at the hotel itself - there were plenty of other good restaurants in nearby Sok San Village, to keep it interesting. All in all, we would definitely recommend Sok San Resort to anyone traveling to Koh Rong island. It's a very good choice.

Although the beach is great, sok san beach resort has really basic rooms. During the rainy season it's 15 dollars behind and 20 dollars the bungalows with sea view. The people that run the place are kind and polite. The restaurant is quite expensive and the food portions are quite small. Note that in the restaurant there provides refill bottled water for free.

Absolutely wonderful place. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Food is delicious and very average price compared with rest of Cambodia. Would definitely recommend!

Very well located resort which is accessible by their private ferry at "The drop off" which can be found near Sihanoukville with price of 20 usd per person ONE WAY. Rooms are well situated, big enough for a couple and offer quite nice terrace. Really bad thing about the rooms is the incredible smell ! Bed sheets, towels, pillows and blankets smell like a mold ! Wifi in resort is very unstable so it will work for few mins and other few mins it wont work at all so don`t plan any important online business calls there. Price for everything there is higher so expect to pay more for everything. Food and drinks mainly. Staff is very friendly, helpful and polite. We got welcome drinks upon arrival which was really refreshing and they helped us with the luggage to the room really 5star for them. Sok San beach is the best beach of whole Koh Rong island. We traveled over whole koh rong including coconut beach, Koh Toch, Palm Beach Bungalow opposite to Song Saa private island and there really is rubish everywhere. Sok san is the cleanest and best beach they have there. Don`t try to hike anywhere from there because its really far from anything at all (expect the village right next to the resort). Before you get to anything you will have to get through many kilometers in burning heat, I know what i talk about we accidentaly hiked from there up to Coconut beach.

Way too expensive for what you get. It has lots of potential but the value for money isn't there. The rooms are very basic and every time you walk it creeks, same goes with the bed, it creeks when you move an inch and it's hard. The door isn't fully sealed so we had to block the gaps to stop mosquitos from coming in using plastic bags. We also sprayed them with insect repellent. We didn't have an issue with them but others might. There is hot water, aircon and a fridge which great as some others on the island don't have these. The fridge is kinda loud so we unplugged it at night. Wifi really sucks there (works fine at other venues on the island). Breakfast is average but if you're paying so much to stay there i would expect to at least have real coffee, not instant. The restaurant is super expensive so we never ate there other than the included breakfast. The most disappointing thing about our stay there though is the garbage on the beach. It's not the hotels fault and staff work all day to try to keep it clean but everyone stays at this place to swim in the beautiful water on their private beach. It's beautiful only up until 1-2pm and then the rubbish comes in and it becomes gross and not swimmable unless you want to swim in a dumpster. One of the days we didn't swim at all as it wasn't clean which sucked... I wouldn't stay there again unless it was around $50 per night as that's what we think it's worth. If you do stay there and the beach is dirty you can try walk to the right when facing the beach as it might be cleaner up there.

We stopped here for food and a coffee. The staff were brilliant and friendly, however, we were not impressed with paying full price for the 'pad thai'. We are vegetarian so asked for it without prawns or shrimps. The menu said it had veggies and tofu but we were served plain noodles for $10. We asked if we get a reduction in price because it didn't come with anything, not even the tofu or veggies, but they said they couldn't reduce the price. We are staying on long set beach and you can get a veggie pad Thai, loaded with egg and veggies for $3. I don't mind paying more when you get more but this was plain noodles served on a fancy plate. I had an ice coffee and that was delicious. The people next to us also had pizza which looked good (we were not offered the pizza menu but as vegetarians would have happily had pizza given the choice). Please consider offering more veggie options and please don't serve plastic straws- resorts should be offering cardboard, metal or bamboo re usable straws. Thanks!

The resort is right next to the beach, with a dock going into the ocean. There are chairs near the beach for easy access. The ocean is clear and appears blue-green. Breakfasts are very tasty there, but water is overpriced. They provide extra towels if one asks for them, but does not provide cleaning for the rooms. This is bad because some people are swimming once, maybe even twice, a day, and will most likely track large amounts of sand in. The air conditioners only worked at night. During the day, outside of the room is cooler than inside of it. This is because despite the hot temperatures, there is a cool breeze flowing from the ocean. There is a large expanse of sand between the resort and the beach, which is perfect for playing games on. Overall, the resort is a good place to go if you are looking for a quick getaway to an island and are willing to set a slightly higher budget for the trip.

Needs renovations, electricity is not stable (AC), rooms are big but because of the wood they need to be maintained better and we had quite a few insects in the rooms. Overall, very nice people and beautiful beach but the facilities should be renewed.

The experience was great! Bathrooms are a little small in the chalets so you're forced to shower with the toilet In front of you, the staff are all very friendly and the food was amazing for the most part, they did have a shortage of a lot of things but they made up for it! The location is overall great though the wifi is a little slow and not reaching the room I got, overall though I would say I enjoyed the stay

Went in for a drink and maybe food while exploring around the island. They don't even have fresh coconut, or any fruit shakes. Asked about soda water... Price is $2.5 (3 times the normal price). Moody attitude and this place is a rip off . Avoid.

We spent an afternoon enjoying the amazing beach and restaurant at Sok San Beach Resort. This beach can only be described as an island paradise with crystal clear water and a beautiful sandy shore. After swimming, we had drinks at the Sok San Beach Resort. The service was friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to visit on Koh Rong.

I had such a bad experience over this resort, but main problem not about a location and environment. It about management their manager doesn’t know how to serve a customer with manner and such a attitude. Every question I made he doesn’t bother to answer properly, not even a single look at me!! In this hospitality field the property management should educate properly and professional due to a resort costing not hostel. I hope the owner of this resort watch out this issue.

Clean, good shower. No WiFi. No TV. The beach is beautiful and wonderful for swimming. The staff are great!

For the price we paid (almost 100usd/night) we were very disappointed with the quality of the rooms, food, and service, despite the reviews. However, after driving around the island we have to say that Sok San is indeed the best beach (clean and quiet) on the island. Do come here only if you’re prepared for a very basic room for sleeping. The beach is the only highlight of the place. The best way to enjoy it is to rent a scooter from Koh Touch, and ride here yourself after getting off the ferry as everything in the resort is overpriced. More so than other more expensive resorts! For New Year’s Eve dinner the restaurant only had the “gala dinner” option available which cost 52usd/pax. Like many other guests, we walked out to the village for dinner instead. Food is subpar - do not pay for breakfast if that is an option (food is served cold and selection is extremely limited). You can walk about 5-10 minutes towards Sok San village where there are other resorts and local eateries to dine at.

I’m reviewing just the bar and party life. Came here for NYE, was able to purchase my ticket early and if you were early than you could get a free tank top. If you showed the flyer you could get a free beer which was nice that there was a lot of freebies. If you like psychedelic music then this is your place to be. I came early which there was nobody. Thankfully I had a stamp where I can go out and come back in. The only downside to this place was that drinks and food were pretty expensive. I actually went outside to go drink and come back in. They make you purchase tickets instead of using cash. It’s a good system. They don’t have plastic cups and they make you pay for a reusable cup, but you get your money back. That was interesting. They ran out of ice and told us to go to the other bar that they had. It’s good that there’s two bars on the area, because there were a lot of people. They had a fire show, but it didn’t last very long. Their bathroom is terrible and make sure you have a friend to hold the door for you. I wish there was a light bulb too. You cannot see ANYTHING. People don’t come until like 11PM and it stays open all night long. Somebody told me until like 5AM. It’s not for me, but I do recommend it to those that enjoy this type of music. It was nice to chat with others.

Stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed it. Very laid back and slow pace of life so you just gotta go with things. It's a nice short walk from town and the restaurant has some quite good food. Only thing to be aware of is that Wednesdays and Fridays they have parties that are pretty loud, but the music is very good.

Dank bungalows, Extremely low key until they host a party. Quiet(besides rave night). Nice beach. Extremely helpful staff. P.s they generally have fire toys being used at the party's which is sick. Would def stay here again. Thanks for helping this lost castaway find his way.

This review is for the bar, not the place to sleep. It's a nice bar, bit of a hipster touch and a bit further from the main village which makes it a quiet place for resting or a great place for full moon parties. The party is 10$ but for the music I thought it was a bit overpriced. When we were there there was also a movie showing

Overpriced rates. Private rooms were more semi-private, since only a thin wooden wall seperates the different rooms, leaving the ceiling almost open so that you heard your neighbors very well... Fan didn't work. Mosquito net had many holes. No water from the tap, we were unable to shower for 2 days. Run by arrogant turkish hippies who don't seem to care.

The police beach party was really mediocre for a $10 party. The equipment turned off for 15 minutes around 2:00 and sometimes the volume went down unintentionally. Toilets are also very disgusting, but the stage and the decoration were on point.

Great place to chill and forget about whole world. We spent here 3 nights, one of them was Full Moon Party and the party was very laud and very positive. We watched moon eclipse from here so it will always stay in my memory. I would definitelly come back!
