Michael and Pauline are very friendly and humble. Horses(Argo and Monty) are very well trained and gentle. Definitely going to come back. Recommend this place to anyone, specially to those who are beginners and never had a chance to sit on a horse before.

They have great marketing and that's it. We drove 40 mins for what we thought would be an afternoon of trail rides, vendors, music, food and apple stuff. We had an average sausage on a bun, saw a few apple blossoms and listened to their neighbour play guitar to a crowd of three. There were no trail rides offered and they were all sold out of apple cider, which was the only apple offering. This is the first year of this "festival" so they are just beginning to spread their wings but I didn't get the impression there was any more in the works. If you're passing by, keep going.

I took my daughter to introduce her to an equestrian experience and learn more about summer camp... She help 'bath the horses and had a smile on her face the entire time we were there.... and she did not want to leave! Thank you!!

Excellent spot. Michael and Pauline are great. This is our fourth visit and we will be back again. Our girls love it. Great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Very nice Beaches area especially for families within 1:45 hours of drive from Toronto. Neat and clean sandy beach. Getting their early will help big time to enjoy the park. Relatively small areas for BBQ which gets filled up quick. Do bring beach umbrella and chairs. You can also rent small pedal boats here if you get them within their scheduled times as these are rented fairly quickly. Their portable washrooms are terrible though! 😑

Lake is beautiful, water is so clear. Went here for some hiking. Absolutely beautiful trails. Will come again and stay longer.

I do love coming to Balsam. My partner and I have been coming annually for years. I do recommend camping during the week though. The park has become very popular and can get pretty loud at night when it's busy. My experiences here have been mostly positive. The park staff is great. Unfortunately during our last visit we had to pick up a lot of garbage left at our site. Plastic wrappers, elastics bands, can tabs, and paper waste. This isn't the park's fault, it was obviously the people using the site before us. This won't stop us from returning but I do wish some campers would be more courteous and attentive to their waste.

The true North experience! Great for families with picnic areas, playgrounds and beaches ( unsupervised). Sprawling park with forested trails, designated dog beach and boat launch area. Small but efficient park store and limited food/camping items. The beach area is small and alternating sand & patches of grass/ shrubs. Quite rocky base & shoreline but further out dense seaweed so may decide for water shoes. It’s definitely a family park and noted several runners & cyclists but if you prefer the quiet, raw beauty of provincial parks this one may disappoint. Ample parking with facilities and quaint educational centre for families & kids. Camping areas looked generous and remote from the hustle & bustle of the main beach & playground. If you’re into beach volleyball, complete area designated with net & picnic tables for enjoying, just bring your volleyball & you’re ready to play! Enjoy!

Great park for camping. Clean washrooms and comfort stations. Campsites are close to eachother and sometimes that might bother you. Beach and picnic areas get super busy on weekends with lots and lots of people, super crowded. But beach is really great and water is nice and clean. Hiking trails are beautiful and scenic especially the Lookout Trail. Visit the park on week days to avoid rush and crowd.

My friend and I camped here on Thanksgiving weekend and it was wonderful! The leaves during this time of year are gorgeous and we had such a good time sightseeing inches paths and trails. Staff at the check in desk and the park rangers were friendly and helpful. Finding your way around the park is easy as all roadways and paths are clearly marked. We had a great time and were very comfortable. Water taps, toilets and garbage bins are conveniently placed so you never have to travel too far, especially in the dark. Highly recommend visiting here and we're planning on camping here again in the spring.

We had a great day! However, there are extremely stinky washrooms by parking lot 1. Just don't walk near them.

Went camping over the weekend summer time! It was our kids first time camping. Great experience to get together with family. Stayed in the group camp site. Pros: Have a huge space for everyone to use and enough space for parking as well. Lots of tables for more than 20 people. Have one bonfire area but need to buy woods from here. Lake was clear and safe for swimming. There's a kids park, Volleyball and shower area. Free to borrow fishing rod. The sky is full of beautiful stars during the night! Pet friendly! So much activities to do but couldn't try everything. We will definitely go back again. Cons: Washrooms on our campsite seems like it was never cleaned. I might be wrong but it stinks alot so we had to drive a few minutes to a better public washroom. Always bring toilet paper or wipes with you when going to public washroom because they always run out of toilet paper. It's always better to be ready 😅. Also, don't forget there is a ton of mosquitoes out there during the night and even early morning so bring bug spray or cover yourself with bug suit! 😆

Balsam Lake has been a family favorite for my entire life. It has one of the most beautiful provincial park beaches I've been to. The sites are always clean and well maintained. There is a small but entertaining play structure located just behind the beach and wuite a few washrooms that are, for the most part, always clean. There are 3 hiking paths to enjoy, and they are all amazing. The lookout loop is probably our favorite. We have walked and run it hundreds of times. There's always plenty to see. My only wish is that they would make the dog beach a bit nicer. Its small and seems like an afterthought, which is a shame because who doesn't want to take their pup to the beach?

Had a great time at Balsam Lake. It was my first time being there and it did not disappoint. I used to camp regularly when I was younger but I got older and life got in the way. So when the wife suggested we go camping this year because of the pandemic I was in. As we aren't as young as we used we decided to rent a trailer from Canadream. We got to the park and finding our site was easy because everything was well marked. We booked a lakeside site with power but our only complaint was the power pole was about 30 to 40' away and our camper's cord wasn't long enough. Luckily we thought to bring an extension cord or we would've been in trouble. (The power box is between two sites and it was right on our neighbour's site and we had to go through the trees to get to it.) Other than that little complaint everything else was awesome. Park staff were helpful, very welcoming and the park itself was beautiful. There were lots of trails to walk on and I saw plenty of people fishing. It also was a peaceful camp, there were no loud parties or music being played at excessive volumes. It's also a dog friendly park with lots of people, us included, that brought their pet. Everyone kept their dogs under control and there was no excessive barking at any time. All in all we had an excellent time and would return.

This provincial park is located in some beautiful country. The park covers a big area, and is very well designed, with lots of one way roads. Campsites are spacious and clean, with tons of shade, affording more privacy than you'd expect. Very large beach area, with a separate boat launch and docking. Great for swimming, paddling, fishing. Great spot to get your camp on!

Very pleasant experience... even with a little drizzle, can't beat the outdoors, though It would have been better if it was otherwise so to take a swim in the lake's clear water.....

No privacy and our site turned to a complete mud pit in the rain. Like sink into the ground, lose your shoes mud If you have young kids then it's the place for you. If you don't... avoid at all costs! Great boat launch, lots of room and you can leave it in, first come first serve. A little shallow for larger boats.

Really enjoyed the trails at Balsam Lake Provincial Park! Completed the full trail network and thoroughly enjoyed it all!

Camping here this Labor Day. Very spacious sites with none privacy. The beach is not very clean but the water is clear. Only 2 of 5 bathrooms function, and I believe their heat water tank need some maintenance work, because you need to wait a few minutes to get warm water and it’ll back to ice-cold water all the sudden. So, be ready for it.

Beautiful camping grounds, very clean. Rangers come around often to maintain a safe and happy environment for all which was really appreciated. Main washrooms were kept very clean. Overall a wonderful weekend camping here

We stayed at the Fir campground, which was going well until night-time. Then there was noise like if we were being invaded by the March of the drunkards. Someone blaring their car horn in rhythm, boisterous laughter, fighting, flash lights aimed at the tent.. The drama went on for a while. I wish the park rangers made drive bys at night like they did during the day. Besides that, washrooms were clean, the beach was nice and we enjoyed the hiking. The kids loved the playground at the beach. Pretty dog-friendly. Bring your bikes!

Balsam Lake is by far the most quintessential provincial Park I ever visited in ON. It has lots of activities to get campers emerged in to enjoy. Campers can go birdwatching, swimming, kayaking, boating, hiking and fishing. This park is where you can find the rare bird specie called the loggerhead shrike, a tiny bird that impales its prey on thorns. I didnt give the park a 5 yet bec the toilet esp the men's weren't really kept clean altho the shower units are all great.

We had a great time. The weather didn't really cooperate (heavy rain the first night and bitter cold the second), but it didn't dampen our spirits. There are lots of hiking trails, and the park is exceptionally well maintained. The only two disappointments were that the Lookout doesn't have much of a view, and the park store wasn't open, so it was a bit of a walk to get the kids treats.

The car and antique museum closed down 2 years ago, but they still sell handmade crafts and honey. The socks they sell are beautiful and their cat is too cute :)

This place is a must see. My husband and our two children went recently. There are no words to express our experience except, WOW!. if you love museums and stories about how these exquisite items were found and restored, you will love it! The collection of items we saw there are of the caliber of those found in large public museums. Mr. Bennett has a passion for historic mechanical treasures, his stories of how they found the pieces and restored them made the visit even more memorable! Thank you Mr Bennett, for the pure love of what you do!

We stopped in on a whim, and were lucky enough to join in a tour with another couple that had called ahead. Fabulous tour, we had a great time! Mr. Bennett has such a passion for historic mechanical treasures and his tour was very informative. Be sure to bring some cash, as his wife makes and sells hand cranked socks and other nifty crafts. What a real treasure this is - a fabulous museum!!! Antique cars, gas pumps, steam engines of all sizes and shapes, music boxes, cash registers and many more historical artifacts, almost everyone restored and in operating condition. Richard Bennett is the curator and he is one entertaining individual, who has an intimate knowledge of his historical machinery. He has intriguing stories, which he graciously shares. Our group of six was captivated with the artifacts and the stories. This is a national treasurer that should be enjoyed by the local community.

When you pull up the drive you might think to yourself "how long could I spend in this barn?" But you'll be surprised! The antique and vintage equipment and period pieces are impressive the way they've been immaculately restored, and most are in working condition, but what really sets this place apart from other attractions is the passion and generosity of the owner, Mr. Bennett. His contagious energy and enthusiasm will draw you in as he explains the restoration process and historic significance of each piece in his collection. Gearheads, historians or anyone with a curious mind will love absorbing the rich stories that this place has to offer. They also sell candies and preserves, so be sure to bring cash!

Extremely informative and interesting. Mr. Bennett was just closing up when we came by because we had heard about the private museum from a relative, local to the area. He graciously gave us the tour and I am so happy we were able to see his collection and benefit from his vast knowledge! So many unique cars and machines and collectibles! This museum needs more exposure in "Things to Do and See in the Kawarthas".

We lived in and around the area for many years and just discovered this private museum. What a great place to visit and spend an hour or so. The tour was very personalized and extremely knowledgeable and most everything is restored and in working order from the early automobiles, steam engines, music players and so much more.This museum is by far among the best of the Kawartha jewels. We will do this again as there is almost too much to take everything in during one visit. Thanks for making this a day to remember.

The epitome of a small-town cinema! The staff are always friendly, the theatres are clean, a great selection of confectionary snacks and drinks that are reasonably priced (especially compared to larger cinemas). The location is always quick to update and offer new movies, with great quality viewing. My only complaint is that the seats could be a bit comfier, and updated.

Absolutely love this place. I've been coming here for years with my family and friends, always such a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff! (They also have the best popcorn of any theatre I've been to)

I love going to the movies and have been here twice now. It's an older style theatre so no stadium style seating but, this didn't seem to be an issue with how the screen is positioned. Snacks are priced pretty reasonably with a kids pack for $5. No early ticket purchase or early entry. Pretty simple, show up a half hour before showtime and pop in. Matinees are only $8.

small town theatre vibes in this fun cinema. Tickets and concession are decently priced and never had any issues either technically or with staff or other patrons. Theatres are small so lines can be long and you may not always get in if it’s a more popular movie.

Century Cinemas is a icon of Lindsay’s downtown core. With the iconic marquee this theatre boasts the big new releases. Locally owned and operated the customer service is great. The popcorn even better. Recommended.

It's been a long time since visiting a cinema that wasn't a Cineplex but I must say, it was almost a better experience than the big guys!! Staff were friendly, theatre room was cozy. Even the other movie goers seemed more considerate about each other with noise levels during the film. Was a wonderful experience!

Great prices for pretty much everything. I've gone on numerous friend gatherings and dates, had a positive time everytime. Comfortable, bathrooms are upstairs but there's one on the level floor so it's great for those who can't use stairs. Good movie choices for such a small theater. Overall, amazing experiences everytime and I love this place

Always my first choice of theatre for the films I want to see - partly because of the welcoming atmosphere and the immaculate condition of the theatre, but also because of the genuine enthusiasm and love of movies in the air. This is a local treasure!

Me and a few friends go here all the time but the only enjoyable part is the movie and even that is ruined by the lady who runs the place (I think). I am 14 (turning 15) and my friends are 13 and 12. We end up going to see most new releases here (closest to us) such as Wonka, Migration, Mean Girls and one that we wanted to see today at 2:00 PM. A few other people I knew went to see the same movie as us (they are 11 and 13 both girls) and which for the PG13 movie we where going to see they got in without having to say there age when they where born or nothing and it is easy to tell there ages by looking at them. From experience in other theatres if someone over the age of 14 is with the people under the age of 14 you can all get in. So when it was our turn we asked for the tickets. I will play out the conversation now. 13 year old friend says "Can I get 3 tickets to the movie (don't want to say it since they probably read these reviews)". The lady then says "How old are you". The 13 year old friend not thinking from the surprise question says "I am 14" even though if he said 13 he could get in since it is a PG13 movie. She then asks "What year and month where you born in?". He says "February, 10, 2010" and she then asks "What school do you go to" he said the school he goes to and she asked my 12 year old friend who following in the others footsteps says "I am 14 born on January, 26, 2010" and she asks the same questions she asked the other "What school do you go to" and on and on. She doesn't even ask me and then says to them pretending I don't exist "If you are lying to me you can get in a lot of trouble" she then makes insults judging what our body language was at that moment being really confused why she isn't gonna ask me or something like that. If she didn't be rude like this we would gladly leave but thought we would stay. So they told her there age and she listed (pretty loudly) the options for younger kids (rated PG) so we ended up in Kung Fu Panda 4 (still an amazing movie) but before we headed off for the movie she made sure to tell us she will keep checking in the theatre and if we aren't in there she will give us a 3 month ban (don't even need the ban at this point I will not go back for a few months). Yes I understand this is her job to sell tickets and not let people in the wrong movie but the whole time this happened she was kind of teasing us Infront of everyone, almost like she wanted everyone to think we are dumb or something. But this started happening for our trip to Mean Girls when she walked up to us (same people) and started talking to us like we where there to cause trouble and again teasing us while doing it. Every time we go she treats us terribly and when looking through the reviews others to. But to girls our age she lets them get away with anything. A group of girls where talking loudly behind us and people told them to stop but they kept going. When they lady walked in she saw my friend texting his mom and told him to shut the phone off, not told actually, screamed it across the room since we where closer to the screen and she was at the doors. She completely ignored the girls talking and, luckily, the girls stopped. I most likely will not be returning unless there is something I really want to see or I have to go.

This theater is great! So quaint and cute. I love the old style. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and the snacks are average for a theater (small popcorn was $5.00, medium popcorn was $7.00, large popcorn was $8.00, there are snacks/drinks to be purchased and a combo). This place is definitely dated and in need of renos, especially to the ceiling. However, for a little town like Lindsay, it's cute and a great addition to the downtown!

This is definitely an old time theater as is the hvac system. I thought I was gonna die of heat stroke while watching top gun maverick. All the seats are below screen level so your looking up at the screen but the price for admission is good and there's no lineup.

One of a kind theatre! So glad we chose it on our trip to Lindsay. We were debating between the cineplex in Peterborough or the Century Theatre. We decided on this small town oldie to watch Goosebumps 2 and couldn’t have been more happy! It’s such a gem. You seem to step back in time when you walk in the door. The 70’s era is alive and well here with bright upbeat colours, old displays, and vintage-looking advertisements. It’s clean, has comfortable seating, and the movie volume doesn’t deafen you. The staff is also friendly and snacks are reasonably priced. We cannot wait to go back!

They are so friendly there. Great place to bring the kids. Hands down freshest Popcorn I've had at a movie theater. It's only 3 screens but it's a wonderful spot.

So this is like rating a friend who is super helpful, kind and always willing to help you move your stuff or drive you places in his 75 year old truck—-that keeps breaking down. 5 stars for parks staff, 5 stars for clean well kept location 2 stars for infrastructure. A 100 year old swing bridge can kill all the fun and good intentions.

Great place to watch boats and enjoy the waterfront in Fenelon Falls. A few restaurants and an ice cream shop too.

Fenelon Falls is an amazing place in kawarthas . It has a small town feel with beautiful lock 34, where you can see lots of boats coming and going. Lots of nice boutique restaurants around the town. The falls are small yet very beautiful.

It is a small waterfall in a small city, good to spend a few hours.

Great spot to spend a few nights on the boat. We were here in September in the beginning of the week when most things are closed. Would be better on the weekend. Great park for the kids with a little beach and good trail to walk the dog. Very busy on the wall for boats. Had to wasn’t able to get lower the first night.

Love watching the lock transitions and this lock has a unique and beautiful walkway that runs under the driving bridge so you can watch the water unobstructed and safely. Perfect for taking children to watch and enjoy. You can walk from one side to the other without ever having to cross the busy road.

Nice place. We actually overnighted two nights here as the weather was threatening. The kids enjoyed the free wifi at Tim Hortons. The beach was a hit and we enjoyed wandering about.

This is one of the most beautiful small town in Kawartha lakes. You can find it is well worth to drive to here just for strolling, picnic or the museum. Every shot around here would be just a picturesque one.

Friendly, helpful lockmaster to help you through, new walls to tie up to, with hydro and water on the top side. Free wifi from the cable company at top and bottom. Great falls view from the bottom of the lock. Beautiful well kept parkland.

Really amazing to see the feat of engineering involved in these locks. Could spend all day watching the boats here and Fenelon Falls is really pretty.

A Wonderful museum. Excellent exhibits covering local history & artifacts of Pioneer & farming families. Something for everyone to enjoy, with picnic & washroom facilities available.

This is a great place to walk around and experience a glimpse into the past. Kids and adults alike can enjoy looking at old homes, a school, and many old buildings equipped with the tools of the day. I especially like their annual Festival of Trees to get me into the Christmas mood. They also have a fantastic Halloween night for kids.

Beautiful historic village. We only had the opportunity to see it the COVID style (drive through) at night with Christmas decorations. It was magical. We hope to return next year and walk through it.

My most favorite place in the fall it's a beautiful drive with the leaves in wonderful colours. The Staff do a great job and make sure everyone is safe and have a Great time. The Village is amazing. Takes you back in time instantly! These pictures are from Halloween Walk!! My favorite event!!

It was a beautiful sneak peak in the lives of Kawartha settlers, everything has been nearly kept. There is a small picnic area where you can enjoy small snack or lunch that you bring with you. Chicken coop, duck cage and goat barn adds to the attraction for young kids. In my mind there were some building names that does not goes with what is inside the building. But otherwise it was a wonderful experience.

So much more to the village than I had expected. Learned a lot and had a great time. Don't miss the hiking trail but you'll need bug spray. Short bike ride from the bobcageon lock. Oh, there is an entrance fee of 8$ per adult.

This was our first visit. We loved it and we'll definitely return. The Festival of Trees was amazing. Very well done. Horse wagon ride was included with admission. They had some and drink options available. Staff were amazing. We want o go back at night.

Super laid back village showing life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Walk at your own pace! Check out the buildings, see the goats, bring your well behaved pup. Whole thing can be done in an hour - a nice way to spend time.

Wonderful experience. The staff and the community should be very proud of the volunteer work they do. It is open all year long with seasonal attractions. Everyone should visit at least once.

Excellent place for kids & adults. Got to know al ot about the village. There are summer camps for kids as well. Very well maintained. Ample parking and not very busy.
