It was a great learning experience. The staff are super nice. I love how there have been small changes made to accommodate and attract children. I loved it here, and spent more time than I had planned. The only suggestion is an improvement in the aquarium section where children can interact with the creature. There should be more creatures there. It was really exciting for the children.

We opted to have a look at this museum which was three floors. 3rd was about the Bluenose 1 2nd was about the fishing village and the evolution of the industry. 1st was more the wildlife/sea life of the Atlantic. Also included in the admission was a tour of the Theresa E Connor schooner. If you have CAA you save on admission overall. We had only 30 mins to tour before they closed so we did a very quick tour of both and didn’t make it through everything.

When we first approached the entrance I did not expect much. When we walked into the aquarium part I was blown away! It was really good with a wide variety of sealife. My young grandkids literally ran from on display to the next. Then we moved into the main display area. There was so much to see that we spent two hours there. My grandkids favorite displays were the dioramas. I found the entire setup very informative and interesting. We ended with a walking tour of the Bluenose 2, a sailboat permanently docked by the museum. It is well worth the trip.

A must do item for those interested in the lore of the life on the Atlantic Fisheries. The only negative was the reconstruction on the Bluenose II and the other museum owned fishing boat which prevented us from touring the boats and we were looking forward to exploring the boats first hand. Otherwise, an extensive museum, plan at least a couple of hours, more if you want to watch the videos and movies available and there were numerous. We learned how to dress out a cod in an extensive video by a man who clearly had expertise in fish processing. There is history of Norwegians who trained there in WWII and the losses of ships due to German submarines. There is a live aquarium, there are knowledgeable staff standing around for questions. There is a restaurant in the museum although not part of the museum, which serves some of the best fish we have ever had and was recommended by a native NS person.The setting is adorable historic Lunenburg and there is much to see and do besides the museum. The museum provides a wrist bracelet which allows one to leave for coffee or lunch then return. We had coffee and scones then returned to the museum in the afternoon. And the most touching item is the memorial to the ships lost and the hands lost over the years.

Great museum! Such an attention to details! Kids will love cute little facts about the fish and lots of games along the museum. Adults will certainly learn a lot of new interesting facts. Be sure to save some time for the old fishing boat.

My husband and I spent part of our day at the museum and were pleasantly surprised at the number of artifacts and displays. The staff were amazing especially Tina for her talk on the Theresa E Conner and Nancy on the second floor for her personal stories of fishing life in her family. It all made the visit more lifelike and interactive. Thank you for all your efforts in teaching about this part of our history.

Our visit was great. We got a very good impression of the history of fishing in Nova Scotia. Also we have enjoyed talking to the staff who were very friendly.

Great multi-level museum about sea life, the history of the region, and the fishing industry. Especially loved that they had museum workers walking around to answer any questions you might have. It was a true learning experience and great for kids.

We had a nice time walking through the museum and taking part in the Blue Nose talk. Lots of bathrooms, elevator available, gift shop and even a restaurant on site. Walking through the schooner was a neat experience.

Cute little museum. Lots of different aspects, from history, to aquarium, to Indigenous education. I went through it pretty quick - 1 hour was enough for me. But my husband spent 2. Great for all ages.

Friendly staff. I had some fun to loosen two ladies when buying my weatherproof coat. Great fun and laughs.

Came here to check out the Bluenose 2 merchandise. The company store is a nonprofit. The proceeds that the store makes goes to funding the Bluenose 2. I saw some traveling YouTubers go to the Bluenose 2 Company Store and get some t-shirts. I figured that this store would have hoodies too, so I came here to get a hoodie. And I have successfully gotten a white light hoodie with the words Bluenose 2 and Nova Scotia written on it. Merchandise gotten. It was expensive lol. It came to a total of around $57.

My wife, daughter and I drove from Greenwood to see this beautiful ship. We were not disappointed we were able to board and take pictures in front of her iconic bow. Our only regret is not being able to sail on her serving as one of the deckhands. Hopefully next year. My family has had a love for this ship all my life as she is known as "the pride of Nova Scotia" and we are proud "Bluenosers" thank you for keeping as I remember.

Great store, lots of things to buy at a good price. Friendly service. You can buy tickets there to take 2 2 hour bluenose ride. So fantastic

Great trip on the Bluenose II! The store had a nice variety of merchandise ranging from the kitschy to the ornate. I left with a bulging bag of gifts and souvenirs and some lovely memories.

Beautiful ship; unfortunately we were not able to get the full experience due to poor weather but enjoyed it anyway. Worth a trip; spend some time in the beautiful town.

I stopped in while on a short visit to this beautiful town and was greeted like family they are extremely fair priced on there souvenirs and the staff is so kind and friendly i will definitely stop in when i visit next

St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg, which dates from 1754, is the second oldest protestant church in Canada. St. John’s has a rich history in the Anglican tradition. Disaster struck on the evening of October 31, 2001, when the Church was destroyed by a fire. With remarkable fortitude the Church congregation voted to restore St. John’s to its original condition prior to the fire, and reconstruction at the site began almost immediately. St. John’s has been fully restored and was re-opened in June of 2005. The Gothic architecture is amazing. Beautiful exterior and interior it is great for photographers. This lovely church is a must-see when in Lunenburg.

Love this beautiful church and its history. Amazingly, there are still lots of people who come to join the worship. We were surprised to see how the 10 tuned bells sang different songs at noon for half an hour. Don't forget to check the "Vinegar Bible" downstairs.

Beautiful ornate church, which was rebuilt after a devastating fire that practically burnt down the building back in 2001. You would never know if you were not told that what you're looking at was not original to this 1753 church! We learned so much from our guide Andrew. He was very detailed and knowledgeable about the church and its history. We were told that the pews and the wood floor were the only parts of the building that were saved. Also one of the stained glass windows was remade from the broken pieces collected by the Lunnenburg residents nest the bay in the water runoff from the fire fighters water used to extinguish the fire! If the Crypt and the balcony is open, do not miss the opportunity to checkout. Overall, if you're near lunnenburg, this is a must stop!

Closed by the time we passed by. But, the facade is impressive enough for me to write a five-star review. Surrounded by churches in the neighborhood, this Anglian house of prayer stands out with its stylish architecture.

Great location in an old blacksmith shop in beautiful Lunenberg. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Tastings are offered for free - 3 per person of whatever you pick. Lots of options and tastes for every pallet. Has shipping options so you can send it home instead of travelling with your purchases. Try the maple rum cream - great tasting and mild maple/rum flavours

Cool place, very small and "homey". You can sample and buy their products right on site, although they don't necessarily have it all in inventory (e.g. their super gin was nowhere to be found, NSLC in Bridgewater had it). Service was friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend this place.

Very cool, cozy stop while in Nova Scotia. Try the one with Rhubarb! Just don't try too much unless you want to waddle around the rest of the day. Good flavors, unusual combinations you cannot find in other places.

Although you could declare this as a shop, the staff gives you tons of information how their produce is made AND you can experience it by yourself. The classic smell of a wood burning distillery, the ambience in this 100+ year old building, the old distillery itself, the fine bottles which are displayed, the recipes you can grab and try at home.... we really enjoyed our stay and we tried some of the "good stuff". And yes: It is good! Recommended for interested persons - and you can definitely learn something about the distillery. Try the maple rum and the maple cream rum. You won't be disappointed.

We had a wonderful and educational tasting and tour with Meg. She was so great. They have a wide selection of alcohol, all very delicious.

Authentic East Coast Spirits Distillery. Oozing with unique atmosphere inside. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable and articulate about the various products that they sell. They sell a wide variety of spirits, from Gin to Bourbon. The bottles are very decorative so their products make great gifts for people back home. The Bluenose personifies Nova Scotia for sure.

What an awesome distillery in Lunenburg! 100% recommend taking the tour. We’ve done LOTS of distillery tours over the years and this one with MEG was so fun! She cares about what she’s doing and sharing the history of the building as well as the spirits. Really cool to see the expansion and how they’ve grown.

We came here on a Sights and Spirits tour, the new 3-in-1 tour in the Lunenburg Walking Tours. I’m not much of a spirits drinker, but the Distillery tour was a lot of fun! Not only do you learn about the distillery industry/production, but you also learn about the history of the building which is SO cool! The tour guide, Meg, gave us very reasonable samples of all kinds of rum, liquor, and gin. My favourite was the vodka and the maple rum cream!

I like the tour and Meg does a great job of explaining the process to make the different kinds of rhum, gin and vodka. And she does throw in a bit of history 😁 They have quality products that is worth the taste and share a fun moment with our tour group.

Terrific local distillery and even more amazing history behind the location which used to be a local blacksmith location. The tour was awesome and the tasting was just as good. I had no idea the ship used in Pirates of the Caribbean was originally built here.

Loved this place. Bought a bunch of gin and vodka to take home. People were friendly, chatty and gave us a lot of information about the distillery that endeared us so much to make several purchases. Apparently, all the ingredients are entirely local. And they have these sophisticated distilling devices custom made in Germany. And, I think the building (historically) used to be a blacksmith.

This was a great way to spend an evening leading about the culture and history of Lunenburg in a fun and music filled way. Costumes, while simple, added to the ambiance of the acting and singing. Good for locals and people from a far.
