This is an old university with a lot of history. The lawn with trees is really quite and beautiful in summer.

Always a great day to be a Tar Heel <3 thankful for all the mems and people I met during my time at unc. Parking & transportation is awful tho, I hope to see it improve one day. Game days are always the best especially when we beat Duke. Will never forget rushing Franklin, springtime at quad and more. I’m so grateful for the full ride and I look forward to giving back someday. 🩵

I worked with geography and library and other faculty and students here. The whole facility is beautiful including the Arboretum.

Went to a 7v7 tournament here and the kids had a blast. The facilities are very nice and the camp was well run. Can't wait to get back here next year.

We visited the UNC campus as tourists, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A supremely well manicured and well maintained campus with a number of buildings that are couple of hundred years old. You can just walk randomly and still take in a lot of the campus, but it is even better if you have someone who knows the campus and can tell you why to take a sip of water at the fountain or a bit of history of the Old West building. We recommend the Coker Arboretum, a calming oasis with some excellent fauna (tiger lilies!).

"Greetings from Chapel Hill." A delightful community and home of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the nation's first public university. Thoroughly enjoyed walking the Campus and Franklin Street's shops, restaurants, bars and hotels in springtime while attending the Raleigh Relays. Thank you, Until we meet again!

Come during the weekend and no parking fees, one of the must visit place in NC.

I’m always finding new interesting things and people in Chapel Hill, but this time it was for the international soccer game between Chelsea and Wrexham.

My daughter and I toured UNC. I must say the admission department explained lots of information concerning being accepted into the University. I loved how the student panel introduced themselves and shared a prospective of the UNC program. The student panel was given a group of visitors to tour the campus. I like how they explained certain areas around campus during the journey. I love how they have a dormitory room setup for the parents and student to see. The guide expressed the difference for first year students versus transferring students. They also mentioned the various options for mingle between other Universities while taking classes. This information was extremely helpful. I also was thankful for hearing the rules in place as far as housing and bringing a vehicle. I love the setup for campus meal. The meal has various options based on the student. The University has a very diverse background which gives a very free spirit vibe. I loved how the students were mingling around campus. We did go to the dining hall. The variety of dishes in Lenoir Hall was amazing. We didn't know which restaurant to choose from. We enjoyed our tour overall.

My experience here was pleasurable. It seems that the establishment in itself is still recovering from covid. As it stated and I was informed that breakfast was to start serving at 6:30. Twice I went down there and they weren't ready. As I was on business , unfortunately I didn't have time to wait. I was still charged two days of parking when I was unable to get a large vehicle in the garage below. I had to park across the street on a property this hotel didn't own. The rooms are very nice and modern. Great location and walking distance to anything in any direction. CHEERS! 🍻🥃

Rooms are beautiful and service was great. However, breakfast is awful! The worst I’ve experienced at a Marriott. They charged $18 and offered toast, boiled scrambled eggs and bacon… nothing else. You couldn’t put together $5 of value if you tried. Eggs were boiled bits with way too much salt. I had a better free breakfast at the Fairfield. A joke for this level of hotel

We stayed overnight and had amazing service from the moment we entered. Blessing, Christiny, and Tara were all so helpful. There was an issue with the toilet in our room not flushing well, and they were helpful even though sold out and couldn’t move rooms. We really enjoy all of our interactions with these ladies and the property is really nice and esthetically pleasing. Would definitely come back in the future.

Very pleasant stay for a quick weekend. Excellent service and hospitality provided by Rob at the front desk. He was happy to accommodate our schedule for check-in and check-out, and made sure we had umbrellas on a rainy day. Room was very clean and quiet. I liked that they did not waste space with a chest of drawers, but instead had plenty of shelf space which is much more practical for a short stay. The only funky thing was the sliding glass door for the bathroom which was heavy, somewhat cumbersome and would roll shut on its own. Lighting in the room was just okay - one of my pet peeves for many accomodations. Nonetheless, the location is excellent for visiting UNC and surrounding neighborhoods. Would definitely stay here again.

Really nice hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Love the bathroom and the AC worked great. Bar downstairs had great drinks. And breakfast was good lots of choices.

A real gem tucked away on Rosemary Street but easily accessible to downtown. The rooms are appointed nicely and are quiet. The standout is the lounge; the bartenders clearly take pride in their work and are attentive. If you're in Chapel Hill this is a great option for accomodations.

The hotel itself is outstanding. The rooms are very nice. The location is hard to beat as well. The only downside is being so close to a local bar, the street side rooms are pretty loud on a Saturday night.

This is a newer hotel with nice common areas and rooms. Unfortunately, there a live band playing in a bar right outside this side of the building that plays until 1 or 2 a.m. and it is incredibly loud. I am here right now and even with a white noise app, it is still so loud I cannot imagine falling asleep. This is something guests should know when checking in. I do not recommend staying here if you need to get to sleep early like we do tonight.

Hotel is in such a great location, one block from Franklin Street - very walkable to get to dining and attractions. The staff was excellent, especially JC one of the bartenders. The rooms were very clean and quiet. Loved the long bench in the room which provided lots of space to set things out. Set up was great for business travel.

My wife and I stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon as we made our way down to Charleston. As a lifelong UNC fan it was great to be in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill. It was extremely walkable and we had a blast being so close to so many great shops and restaurants. Ashley at the front desk was amazing!! When we mentioned our honeymoon she immediately put us in a corner room with a great view and gave us some credits to be used towards the hotel bar and snacks. JC at the bar was equally amazing. He was personable, funny and also made a ton of good drinks. If we ever find ourselves back in Chapel Hill we will definitely be coming back to the AC Marriott!

Location great. Nice workout room. Felt safe. Second time staying—this time stayed on second floor facing courtyard below. It was a football weekend and both nights guests returned late and sat out in courtyard chatting the night away. Had to sleep with tv on low to create white noise. Had an early flight next morning. While communicating about upcoming reservation, I found one desk clerk condescending and unprofessional.

So take this whole review with a grain of salt because we had a toilet that kept blocking up and colored our overall opinion. And we were there 3 nights. And although they didn’t switch us to another room they said they plan on comping us one of the nights. The other sort of downside things are that at the upscale hotels you get to pay for breakfast ($18 while we were there) and parking ($20 a night) and a sort of strange cramped entrance to the room. The room had no closet but rather a metal framed piece of furniture that held the fridge, coffee tray, iron and ironing board and 4 hangars. And this piece of furniture sort of blocked the entrance to our room. Now on the upside we’re very comfortable beds and pillows, upscale modern rooms, hard floor which I love in a hotel since carpets are just gross. Nice modern touches with the sink shape and mirror. The shower had great pressure and choice of rain style or nice powerful hand held that also mounted at any angle or height (I’m tall). Frosted glass sliding door to the bathroom. And the gym was super nice, clean, and well maintained for a hotel workout room. There was plenty or parking but I had my Tacoma and the spots are tight (indoor two basement levels) so be warned.

Hotel itself is typical AC hotels, but the staff here does a great job keeping up with it. Currently a Titanium member so my experiences will be a bit different than others. Regardless, the receptionist were all very helpful in getting me situated and even tried to help find a last minute change out of personal preference! We didn’t find a room but I was still super grateful they tried to help me out. Super comfy beds, excellent showers, and all around good styling and vibes. Only complaint would be with the actual AC Hotel designs and I wish they had tighter closing bathroom doors instead of a locking sliding door. Makes things a wee bit awkward sometimes 😅.

I found a discount code online, but when I was making my reservation there was nowhere to enter it , so I called the main number. The customer service rep said that she entered the information, but that I should confirm when checking in that it was in the system. When checking in, they said codes are only accepted through some third party website booking. Despite the fact that a Marriott employee told me I would be given the discount, the on-site front desk manager refused to honor the discount. I was told I was "able to go elsewhere" if I chose. My experience with Marriott in other locations has been of much higher quality.

I don’t leave many reviews on hotels, but you should know that UNC is letting undergrad students LIVE here. Why?? And the door latches are extremely loud. So when college kids are coming in and out at all hours of the night, you will hear their doors slam shut - on top of all the other wonderful noise they make. So, be prepared for that! Also, the mattresses at this hotel are extremely cheap and uncomfortable. They are maybe 6 inches thick and not quality whatsoever. I was extremely disappointed and needless to say, did NOT sleep very well. The water pressure was laughably weak with the overhead “rain” shower - I had to use the handheld shower head that can mount on the wall. Another feature that i cannot stand - the air conditioner has the motion sensor so it shuts off when it doesn’t detect motion. So when you’re laying bed listening to all the college kids go in and out of their rooms, the thermostat reads 73 degrees when you’ve set it to 67. And you don’t have the noise of the A/C to dampen the noise of the slamming doors. Awesome! The only thing nice about the parking garage is that your car will be covered. But I don’t know who the designed the garage. The ramp down to the garage is extremely steep and once you’re down there, there’s not much room - for parking in the tiny spots or navigating the confusing layout of the garage.

My wife and I stayed here for a night while in town for a wedding and had a fantastic experience. Everyone working there from hotel front desk to bartenders to housekeeping were extremely friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Also, the hotel is located in close walking distance to restaurants, shops etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Small garden but very nicely done. Some shady areas, but also very hot in the sunny areas so plan your day accordingly. Small parking spaces, but we found one in the shade so that was nice. Indoor building had AC, gift shop sold seeds for some of the plants and they had a large selection of nice gifts for the gardener in your family. Beautiful place. So many butterflies and loved the history of the cabin!!

Free admission with plenty of parking spots. I can see this place being stunning in the right season when the flowers are in bloom. When we went. (End of March) it was beginning to look pretty. There are plenty of trails to walk around. The herb garden was our favorite. There are restrooms and a shop as well.

Lovely experience! There are a lot of walking paths surrounding the garden too. The herb garden is very educational. Also, some of the water plant basins have huge tadpoles, baby goldfish and minnows inside!

The carnivorous plants were in full bloom when we were there, and it was a pretty sight. The chess board added a fun element to the experience. Though the place was small, it had many species of plants, and they were well labeled.

What a great place. Free, lots of beautiful gardens, a hiking trail, a modern visitors center. Very nice.

It was pretty good. This was our first time going and they seemed to have some nice trails. The flowers were pretty but I think it's a bad time of year to visit. I would imagine it is more beautiful in the spring. Today was hot but most of the trails that we checked out were shady.

We love coming here! It's very peaceful, and there's so much to see year-round. It's a very comfortable place for babies to explore nature. When walking the gardens we get to see fish, and tadpoles. There's a birdwatching station, a sandbox and some grassy areas. It's perfect. The discovery room (ages0-10) is amazing too!

The grounds are nice for a walk or just to have a look, won’t take long. Very low variety of plants, gift shoppe sells work from local artists.

It's free to come to the botanical gardens here and they have a lot. The sculptures were stunning and I was very impressed by the nature walks! Their trails are well maintained and labeled properly. The plants have educational plaques so you learn a lot here too! There is a library, gift shop, plant shop, and classrooms here as well with very friendly staff. I highly recommend for anyone in the area!

Beautiful Gardens. The grounds are very nicely cared for. There is a lot to see and plenty of room to explore, even during the winter.

Loved this fully outdoor Botanical garden. In a few short weeks, it will be amazing. Lots of trails to explore!

Wonderful gardens to meander and enjoy. A variety of North Carolina ecosystems are represented. Gorgeous display of native carnivorous plant’s indigenous to North Carolina. Highly recommended.

Nice walking paths on a hillside with a creek running through. The garden shop has some unique greeting cards and stationary.

I'm taking the NCBG native plant classes and they have been amazing. So far every instructor has been great and the gardens are fantastic.

Free admission (please consider donating $5/pp) to beautifully kept, natural gardens in a non fancy setting. Perfect for families with littles as they can wander and roam. Flowers were lovely and plentiful in May 2023. We did the scavenger hunt and walked around for about 1.5 hrs happily. Enjoy!

Well done and continuously updated. I visited roughly 5-6 years ago, they have continued to update and impress. True UNC fans, this is a must visit.

What a phenomenal place! Blue Heaven the history of the Best Basketball program of all time

Whether you are a new Carolina fan or a seasoned one, this museum is a must visit! It features old uniforms, awards, NCAA final four and championship rings, Michael Jordan memorabilia, and all the impressive NCAA trophies. Such a fun experience!

I love the videos provided and if you are a Jordan fan it is so cool to see the history of Era at North Carolina basketball.

A perfect journey through the rich history of the UNC program - the honors, achievements, and special moments for teams, players, and coaches. If you visit CH and like basketball even a little bit, visit the museum. Other than parking, there is no charge. There is hourly paid parking in the lot right across the street.

Just a spectacularly curated collection of a world class program. Living in Chapel Hill, I sometimes take the history of Carolina basketball for granted, and to see it in one places reminds me.

This visit was a slam dunk! When looking for things to do in the area, I was thrilled to come across this museum! Being a long time Michael Jordan fan, nothing makes me happier than seeing where he hailed from. The museum was a basketball court with loads of memorabilia. So awesome to see bits and pieces of his life leading up to the man and amazing ball player he became! Many other ball players represented as well. A great place to visit!

It was like walking though living memories of the past in the present. Just the presence of being around that greatness puts a feeling in you that's hard to describe. A feeling that only those who bleed that Carolina Blue would understand!!! It has history you knew, facts you didn't... Greatness from 1924 to the present. Best museum hands down I've been in. Cleanliness as well as informational.

A must visit for any NCAA or ACC basketball fan. No entry fee. You could spend at least an hour depending on how much and fast you read. The Duke museum is a little larger, but it includes the NCAA women's stuff as well. Paid parking across the street via a machine or the park mobile app.

Such a cool experience...walking down North Carolina basketball history. The museum starts with a short video about the history and some of great players that started at UNC. After the video you go straight into the museum with everything from Michael Jordan’s sneakers to his letter of intent to all of championship trophies from the years. This museum is a MUST see for basketball and tar heel fans everywhere.

Must see if you are in the area. We made a quick stop and super glad we did! The staff was very welcoming and answered any questions we had. The whole museum is done very nicely!

We went to see the Magic Tree House Space Mission with my 6 and 3-year-old niece and nephew. We had an absolute BLAST. It was an educational, fun, and unique experience. There were also multiple fun science experiments to do after the show. They loved every minute of it!

All around amazing show and amazing museum with life presentations and educational set ups. We also enjoyed the interactive games. I dare to say this is fun not only for kids but for the parents too. I recommend you allocate at least 2-3 hours.

I was so excited to visit the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I had paid over a hundred bucks for a family membership that was supposed to last a whole year. But every time I went there, they had trouble finding my record on their computer. It was like they were using a floppy disk from the 90s or something. And the last time I went there, the lady at the ticket counter told me that my membership had expired. I was like, what? I checked my email when I got home and it clearly said that I still had a few months left. I felt like I had been ripped off by a bunch of space cadets.👩‍🚀👨‍🚀

Fantastic experience for adults and children. The showings on the dome screen are really out of this world. We are very fortunate to have such a projector in our state.

The recent upgrades shine - the exhibit hall is so markedly improved from what it was for years, and the space certainly makes for a much better field trip. The star of the show is, of course, the Full Dome Theater - the shows they are now producing/showing are almost uniformly outstanding, and the effects can be stunning at their best. I miss some of the things that were there for decades previously, like the Zeiss star projector and the old gift shop space... but the obvious upgrades mean this Chapel Hill landmark will be entertaining and educating North Carolinians for decades to come!

My boys 5 and 8 loved the launch lab where they can do different stem building. It was free build and we were the only ones there at 4pm on a Friday.

It was a very educational experience. Future college for my daughters, perhaps???

We loved it. The show was good, the exhibition is educational and fun, and the science show was pretty entertaining. I would return once they remove the covid restrictions to enjoy it even more.

The planetarium was a neat show but we paid a lot of money to be rushed off. One area was completely empty and a lady asked us to leave bc another group was coming in. I saw no group. Paid over $30 for 2 hours, one hour of which I couldn’t participate in with my daughter. I get it, they have limited areas but it was empty. No reason to rush us. My daughter showed interest in having her bday party here but with how they rush you back and forth, I don’t think so.

I was expecting some pre recorded show for the planetarium part and we got a super customized show where we saw what the night sky would look like that night. Amazing. It’s also super relaxing. The science show was also really neat and brought me back to high school chemistry class!

First time attending a UNC basketball game and the overall experience was fantastic. Took a shuttle to get to the game, easy access in, everyone was friendly, good views and a UNC win. Thanks for a great time.

My happy place is the Dean E. Smith Center. It's even better when the Tar Heels win. We take the "Tar Heel Express" to the games, front door delivery. It's always clean in the seats/aisles upon arrival. The restrooms are very clean with plenty of TP and soap for hand washing. The concession areas appear to be clean as well from this fan's point of view. I've been going to the "Dean Dome" for years with no qualms about taking my grandchildren. I am waiting to take my great-grandchildren as soon as they're old enough and their mother will agree.

Dean E Smith center is a classic college basketball stadium. Huge parking lot, easy access inside through various entrances. They have a good selection of food and soft drinks. Although no alcohol, so you have to bear their mediocre real sober 😅. Great experience overall, do yourself a favor and go

I’m not a UNC fan (didn’t grow up in NC) but I have mad respect for the program and the rich history here. I had the chance to attend a game with some friends and loved every minute of it! The Dean Center is a special place and every North Carolinian should take the opportunity to watch at least one game here in their lifetime!

Awesome atmosphere to watch a game. Long walk from parking but I guess that’s expected for a college.

My recently found passion for basketball games at Dean Smith has no match. From the nice indoor to the fun games and the humourous fans, I hope to never miss any games going forward - unless I don't get a student ticket :)

Words can’t describe how ecstatic I was being able to watch my Tar Heels play in the Dean Smith Center for the first time. I’ve always been to away games and never home games because I live in Florida. I hope I get to experience this again someday soon!

The score against Clemson was disappointing but for my first game there, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere of the fans.

Good sight views from upper levels. Multiple bathrooms and lots of food vendors. University does a great job at getting handicapped folks in and out 😊

Be prepared to walk and get to know your neighbor in this exhilarating sea of Tarheel blue. Stay away from top of sections 211-214...obstructed view complimented by a 32" tv.

We brought our family to a basketball game here. It was very well orchestrated. They had people directing the cars where to go. They had busses buying people to and from parking garages. The facilities are very nice and well kept. The prices on food and drinks aren't bad. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would go here again for an event.

Big time college basketball! The place rocks from start to finish. I took my 8 year old grandson and he was in awe of the place the whole time. The concessions were abundant and plenty of restrooms. It’s a special place to watch the heels. If you get the chance, GO!

My son and I had a great night watching the Tarheels play! Clean arena, great staff and tons of energy!
