We came after it had rained earlier in the day and there was barely anyone here. Incredibly beautiful and peaceful. One of the best beaches around.

Best beach in Oahu! I am so glad I went to this beach. The water is just beautiful and a great spot for snorkeling. The beach was busy but not bad.

Loved it. A beautiful adventure! This was well worth the drive from Waikiki! Parking can be difficult on the main street. Keep your eyes peeled for spots on the side streets.

Great spot to snorkel, you need to be experienced and a fairly strong swimmer but the reef fish are beautiful. We went off the actual beach away from everyone, there were a few others snorkeling in that area.

Beautiful beach with an amazing view and soft perfect white sand. This is an excellent spot to enjoy the water if it's not too windy. Parking is almost impossible to find so arrive early.

We went to the north shore about 3 times and have seen many beaches but this one was our favourite. When we arrived, the water was calm and it was very sunny! Perfect beach to relax with an incredible view. I saw some people kayaking, windsurfing and my husband brought the snorkel gear which was so much fun!! We regretted leaving this one last and not having time to come back again! PS: Parking is nuts so head there early! we had to circle around about 4 times to find a spot.

Soft, white sand! Lot's of people bring their dogs off-leash. This beach is directly behind homes, which you enter via passage from the parallel road. Lots of boats/kayaks along the coast. The water it really calm here, at least in October.

Beautiful beach with soft white sand. The water is so warm and you can easily find a place to set your things down. There is plenty of street parking. If you are in Oahu, please make this a to go place!!

One of our favourite beaches on Oahu. If you travel light, it may be worth taking the bus because parking is difficult and tickets expensive. The finest sand on the island, clear waters, some reefs for snorkeling and great for long beach walks. It can be windy, but it’s always beautiful. Not much nearby in terms of amenities, so bring snacks and water.

We caught an Uber here from Waikiki (about 40 min drive) but it was definitely worth it!! The drive itself was beautiful, through the mountains and the stunning coast line. The beach was amazing, blue water, white sand and calm water. Perfect place to snorkel too since there is a lot of reef spread out right on the beach, you’ll see beautiful and diverse sea-life! 🐠 🐟 But don’t forget to bring food and snacks, we didn’t see any cafes nearby.

We came during a weekday in the morning. Stopped here after the pillbox hike. We were able to find parking no problem. It was pretty windy so we didn’t stay long, but it wasn’t busy and it was beautiful!

This is a beautiful beach. Perfect sand and the sunrise is an amazing view. There are canoes lined up along the top of the beach and the neighborhood will walk out in the mornings to ride out after sunrise. There are 2 islands that are also reachable by kanoe or kayak, but one island is a bird sanctuary and no one is allowed on it. Also FYI this beach has no restrooms or rinse offs.

It is very clean and beautiful because it’s in residential area so you don’t see any trash around and the sand is very small water is clear feels great view is awesome. It’s the best beach in Honolulu as everyone told us and we enjoyed it so much.

Great beach, beautiful view. This was a nice and relaxing beach to visit. Lots of tourists and locals, so be ready for a popular spot. There aren’t any amenities, stores, or rental spots around so bring with you everything you’ll need. Once there it’s a nice spot to swim, relax, and snorkel.

Awesome beach. What makes it great is that there is limited parking you have to walk a bit to get there which does a couple good things: 1. Cuts out the lazy people who dont want to walk ensuring the beach is not overrun and 2. The walk which adds a bit of elevation provides for incredible views!

Very beautiful beach but unfortunately no parking. Finding a parking is very tough, you have to do a street parking and walk to the beach. No entrance fee or any food, water options. So definitely carry food and water with you. No rest rooms or shower available. Definitely a place for beautiful pictures, water is really good.

I love this beautiful beach. Water is calm to swim in safely. I lay on my bed type tube and it was great. You can snorkel if you go a little farther. But parking is tricky. You better come early to get a spot.

This is the most beautiful beach I've visited so far. The water is crystal clear and the nearby reef is wonderful. The views are also great. But be aware that since this is a popular spot it can become quite crowded during the day. No amenities or stores, etc. are there so bring stuff with you when you go.

We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island. The parking lot is decently sized, but it has a good turn around so there are always people coming and going. This beach and area is very beautiful, with soft white sand beaches, and turquoise waters. The ocean floor was very soft and had gentle waves. Looking up and down the beach, there were scenic views. This is a very popular place as we saw some wind/kite surfers, and loads of people relaxing and enjoying their beach day. We walked up and down and got in the ocean for a little bit. We wish we had more time to spend here. On our next visit, we will definitely be back and will be dedicating a beach day here.

Very nice beach park. Super windy in April. They do have an outdoor shower for getting the sand off. Bathrooms could be nicer. Breathtaking views and great for pictures. Lots of birds.

This beach is beautiful with gentle waves. I’ve been to a few beaches in Oahu and this one has got to be one of the best. The water is clear and super blue—downside is the bathrooms are kind of dirty but at least it’s steps away from the beach. Also has clean water outside the bathrooms to wash off. We went around 1 PM and the parking was completely full. Although there are a couple parking lots, they’re very small and most of the time people try to park on the side of the road. We got lucky as another car left, so you might have to keep driving around until you get lucky as well. Definitely worth all the hassle though.

5 Star beach suitable for families and surf sports. Sea, sun and sand with amenities and good parking whats not to like about this location. Washrooms for changing include outdoor showers (could do with more routine cleaning). A beautiful spot to visit and relax even if it is on the way to another location.

Very peaceful! Gentle waves, big parking lot. Great ocean and mountains views. Although there are lots of visitors, they are spread out so you don't feel crowded. Hidden gem!

The best beach in Oahu imho. Went there early as 7AM and it was only us and a couple of locals who are doing their morning jog. Showers are maintained and cute dogs walking. 10/10

Great beach! Perfect for younger kids to play in the sand, and the waves are calm. There is lots of shade!!! The sand is soft, and it's not too crowded. There is a parking lot so there is easy access

This was our first beach outing in Oahu. The pleasant sound of the waves, soft white sand, turquoise water, and constant breeze altogether provided reassurance that we were in paradise. Every picture you take here is a screensaver, a "Wish you were here" postcard, a hint of what heaven actually looks like. Equipped with bathrooms and washing stations. Now, everyone else mentioned that parking is limited. They're not wrong. You might have to wait anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes for a spot to free up. Or come early!

We were told that this was “the best beach of Oahu” with beautiful vistas, less people, and soft sand. They are correct. The only difficult part is that parking is limited. For a quieter setting with gorgeous water, this is your spot. We spent two hours here and soaked it all in! They also have bathrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off before getting back in your car. It is about 1/2 hour from Waikiki and so worth it!

Beautify, serene, and a great place to kick off your shoes and walk along the beach. There's also a park here and BBQ areas.

Loved the crystal clear, calm, turquoise waters and white sand. Great for swimming and paddle boarding. It has to be of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Free admission, children, elderly and dog friendly. The only downside is limited parking, especially on weekends.

Parking was super easy and it was such a beautiful beach. Unfortunately, it started raining pretty bad about 20 mins after we got there, so we didn’t get to stay too long. The water was so pretty and the sand was so smooth. We were staying in Waikiki, so it was so nice to visit a beach with like 90% less people lol

This is one of those turquoise water beaches that feels like you're in an edited image. It's surreal how beautiful everything is. The sand is super fine, white and soft. There was a ton of high wind, but the waves on this part of the island were still mellow enough that lots of small kids were playing in the water. There were a lot of surfers using sails to take advantage of the wind. There are also a lot of trees not far up the beach, so there is shade available to relieve the intensity of tropical sunshine, and a few scattered picnic tables. The parking fills up early and is a little crazy.

Woooow. Excellent wide, flat, shaded beach with sky-blue water. Relatively plenty of parking, plus showers and bathrooms. Popular with wind wing users. All free, no ticket needed.

There are picnic tables, fire pits for emptying your used charcoal, restrooms and the clearest water and softest sand my toes have ever felt! Grocery store within minutes.

This was a great quiet beach. Family friendly. Just walked there the first day with no stress to park. However on the day we decided to kayak from there the parking was difficult. Was definately worth the difficulty. Truly enjoyed this beach and the surrounding areas.

I fully understand why this beach is so popular! Gorgeous white sand and blue azure water. We also saw 2 turtles swimming. It does get windy here, which is why I think it’s popular for the windsurfers. I didn’t give this 5 stars as I think the bathrooms need to be better maintained. One bathroom had pooling water and the other, only 1 stall was usable. I also feel more shelter could be added to this popular park esp for seniors. Great place for kids and a family outing. Keep in mind parking fills up quickly on busy days so come early.

This beach has soft white sand and beautiful aquamarine water and is very clean. The restrooms and changing areas are basic. There is free parking but it was hard to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon.

Obsessed with the views from this pillbox! The hike can be strenuous, the trail a bit dangerous in some parts, so go slow. For great views you don’t even need to hike to the pillbox - you’re already served at the first lookout / plateau. It’s windy and can get hot on the trail, so make sure you have water. There are no amenities here and parking is difficult.

A steep grade, but short hike to a couple of pillboxes overlooking Lanikai beach. Bring some good hiking shoes with grip, no tennis shoes or flip flops, you have to scramble up dirt/mud and over rocks. There's no tree cover so wear long sleeves and a wide brimmed hat or sunscreen. I recommend taking the back route for a less challenging climb up but it can be fun in the rain if you like the challenge and don't want to struggle to pass groups on the trail. It is a very popular destination.

What an amazing sunrise! We left Honolulu at 5am to get over to the hike in time. Luckily we got one the few available parking spots at the base of the hike, otherwise it's a short walk from the beach parking. Go early and get to the top before the sun comes up! Totally worth it. The hike itself is a little strenuous at times. Can definitely get your heart pumping, but you can also just take your time and it's pretty easy. Think we got to the top in half an hour. There are two pillboxes and if you are going for the sunrise, get to one and get a good seat so you can enjoy it. 5 out of 5 experience. We will be doing this one again in the near future.

Easy hike along with great views most of the way! You’re basically hiking on a ridge overseeing the ocean. Definitely worth a visit.

The views from the pillboxes are just beautiful. Wear good shoes as there is some erosion on the trail! I just wish I stayed longer!

Took us 20 minutes to hike to the top at a normal pace- and this was in the dark at 6am with a slight drizzle going and using our iPhones for lights. Short sections of the trail might require a little bit of scrambling but overall this was a easy hike. Great views of the surrounding areas- including lanekai beach, the nearby golf club and the moke islands.

Breathtaking sunrise! Totally worth getting up early!! The hike wasn’t strenuous. However the trail was quite muddy and slippery in January and it was quite dark. So, expect to use the flashlight on phone and wear hiking boots

Nice and easy hike, with some small but steep areas. Two pillboxes that give you a nice view of Kailua and Turtle Island. Lots of nice places to stop on the way up, too! Becomes a bit of a race against the clock when the sun starts going down, so maybe make your way down once the sun dips below the horizon.

As visitors we had a great time on this hike. Our 16yo loved it. Many great views, not just from the very top. We went to the 2nd pill box and wanted to go further, but we were too hungry! We are not frequent hikers and this was moderate for us but since it was short it wasn’t bad at all. Would go again and go further!

Must wear cover shoes!!!it’s not an easy trail especially after rain as it could be muddy and slippery. Definitely worth it! Hard to find a parking spot as the beach is great, too! And there’s no designated public park lots around. Don’t park in front of the residential houses as it could be towed. Make sure you bring enough water. As there’s no trees on the path.

It was pretty windy in February, but 7-year-old made it without any problem, as did 4-year-old :) We parked near Lanikai Beach (it was hard to find a spot!! So make sure you give yourself enough time to find a parking spot if you are driving). Some parts of the hike were a bit rough, but our whole family, ages 4 to 60, had no problem! Even my pregnant sister-in-law. Great hike with an amazing view :)

The Lanikai Pillbox Hike is a workout, but the views from the top are totally worth it. The panoramic views stretch for miles in every direction, and the scenery is beautiful. You can look out over Lanikai Beach and the two small islands just off the coast. If you are lucky, you might even spot a few whales out in the ocean. The hike is a bit challenging, but the views are absolutely breathtaking. It is a great way to spend a day.

The best pillbox around the island, 30 mins walk to the top. Definitely 5 star, highly recommended. The route is a little bit challenging, sometimes you need to use your strength and keep balancing, but the view is amazing! No parking lot, so we parked at the beach and walk to the trail, around 15 mins.

I Love doing this hike for sunrise. It has breathtaking panoramic views of the island and the Ko’olau mountain range. I would check weather to find out sunrise time and also the weather. It does rain a lot on this side of the island. When it rains the trail tends to get muddy and slippery. Some parts of the trail is steep. Parking is going to be limited and maybe restricted because it is in a subdivision with private homes, so carpooling is recommended.

There are pill boxes all over the island And this is one of the more scenic ones. I'd read the hike up here because there's absolutely no shade but the view is gorgeous. I took my graduation photos up here If you like this hike you should try out Pu'u Ma 'eli 'eli

Awesome hike, rated as moderate. Very well defined trail, really wide but also a very muddy trail, expect to get dirty. I've seen lots of people do this hike in less than adequate footware (slippers). The hike is about 3 miles round-trip with roughly 1,000ft elevation. The spots to jump from are very clear, but just be safe the waters really deep but climbing up make sure you have a good foothold before moving. Could be extremely dangerous for amateurs. Enjoy and mahalo for reading.

The hike here was phenomenal. In total it took us about 5 hours but we took our time to really take in some of the views.

If you enjoy a long challenging hike with the possibility of deep sticky mud this hike is for you. You have to cross through the river in two spots. I was unimpressed with the fall itself. The vegetation at the very beginning of the hike was beautiful. If your goal is to see a gorgeous waterfall this is not for you. If the falls were prettier I would not have not had minded the tough hike. I also went swimming and got sick the following week. I was in bed with flu like symptoms for 4 days.

First off, this location is not the actual entrance. It's about half a mile from this point. Locals suggested the hike to be between 20-30 minutes when I'm facts it's about an hour+ (each way)depending on the weather/season and how experienced you are. We went in late Jan and it's was about 90% mud (goes up to the shins). Hiking shoes and water is highly encouraged! We sometimes found it easier to go barefoot. It's a challenging, slippery, muddy and time consuming hike. The water was gorgeous and yes you can jump off as many is did. Please be a swimmer if not avoid jumping. Probably wouldn't go back but definitely an experience 🙃

The hike itself is alright, maybe 2 very nice spots to take pics before hitting the waterfall. Walking through a pretty muddy forest. But at the end. It's amazing. A nice waterfall for the finally where you can jump off

There is no specific directions to find the place, we came across a local who warned us about wild pigs when it gets dark and make sure to have a plan because many ppl have been missing, including locals.

It takes about 1.5 hours to hike down from the waterfall. Lot of mud and lots of people at the waterfall. My 62 year old mother could do the hike- but I can tell you every step made me nervous she would fall (she is NOT a hiker or outside person). There are mosquitoes and make sure to take hiking shoes. There are several locations where you see sandals left behind or pieces of sneakers that fell apart.

Super muddy trail and its difficult to travers with shoes that constantly got pull off the feet. Its a slow and painful process to get to the waterfall. But at the waterfall, everything is worth it.

Difficulty: 7 out of 10 Time to get to the waterfall: 1 hour Expectation: 8 out of 10, but reality: 5 out of 10. Picturesque place but route is pretty difficult. You will have to step into the water at least 2 times on your way to the waterfall. I recommend this place because of physical activity that you have to take during your journey.

Nice beach white soft sand though out,and it was a real clean beach, restrooms, showers, and they have garbage cans, there for you to put your trash in when your coming or leaving the park,there are some pretty cool trees that are labeled though out the park. Beautiful long beach, the sand and water are great colours, parking is very limited so be mindful of that. Also there is a very small area for launching kites for kite surfing, considering how long this beach is it’s a bit ridiculous that they don’t offer more room!

I've been all over the world and this was one of the best beaches I've ever been to! It's like stepping inside a postcard! We saw 6 sea turtles! Family friendly, but definitely need a tent or umbrella. Bathrooms and showers, but no refreshments nearby. Worth the trip- one of the best beaches in the world! 🌴

Beautiful, shady and sunny areas along the beach. Safe, sheltered waters, handicapped access to the water (and to the restrooms), shady picnic area with an abundance of picnic tables, charcoal grills for cooking. More than one parking lot, but parking can be challenging at busy times.

Next to Kailua Beach Park, at the end of Kailua road, turn left to Kalama Beach Park - if turning right, it would lead to Kailua Beach Park which is sometimes crowded. Kalama Beach Park is a hidden gem, overshadowed by Kailua Beach Park. After parking, follow a trail through a house to reach the beach. There is a community house donated to the city by a previous owner. It offers several classes for interested individuals. The beach is white and fine sand. It is very much sparsely visited. Swimmable but no lifeguard.

Beautiful stretch of beach with soft sand, a restroom/changing facility, and small free parking lot. Lots of chickens roaming around, and saw plenty of people bring their dogs. Relaxing neighborhood spot.

The water is a stunning color at this beach. Had a great time. Waves were just big enough for some kid boogie boarding. Showers and restrooms available. Very limited parking but street parking was easy to find.

It's a little breezy, but it's so relaxing. Breathing the ocean air, soaking up the sun. This is Fantastic!

I have no complaints about this beach or any other around the Island. My only concern is for the homeless... But Kamala Beach is sort of big enough, and you can avoid them

Very beautiful beach as you would expect from Kailua. The parking lot is pretty small, so get there early if you want a spot. Waves are small most of the time throughout the year. Beware jellyfish there as they can usually be seen, especially after high wind days. This are does not allow animals or smoking on the beach.

Beautiful, easy on feet white sand beach. Waves not too high on day we were there. Sandy bottom with lots of beach space but not a lot of parking. Bathroom facility near at beach entrance. Great ocean views of small tall offshore islands with tall mountain shopping into water.

Nice clean beach. Plenty of parking. The waves might be too rough for a kiddie pool. Some waves are strong and can knock you off your feet and the receding waves can pull you out to deeper water. Good for body surfing but not for snorkeling. Otherwise, good picnic area and restroom with showers.

Great, long Beach. Lovely place to soak up the sun. Nice change facilities and a couple different washrooms.

Good variety of food and drink options, along with produce and tea/honey vendors. Not super crowded when we went around 5pm and plenty of parking. Would recommend if in the area.

Everything was amazing. I got Hurricane Kakamochi Elote corn in a cup, Li Hing Crunch popcorn, fresh squeezed Guava Pineapple juice, Keiki hand stretched noodles, and the sampler of Shrimpy Irresistible, In and Out, and Tacobella Corner egg rolls. My friends got the Kulua pork and ribeye steak dish.

Very busy. Lots of local produce. Friendly vendors. Pedestrians need to pay attention to proper crossings and get off your phones walking. Many just walked in front of the delivery truck I was in.

Our family loves coming to The Farmers Market in Kailua. Fresh produce and delicious food. I personally love WeirdDoughs sandwiches, my son loves pasta place. Honolulu Hamburgers are really good, Oohh and the little donuts are also a must! Can’t wait to try some of the other vendors on our next visit!

Service 10/10, Food 10/10 Finished a grueling 10hrs shift at work and walked in for some deliciousness...1st time! I couldn't finish Chuns loaded & the food quality was fantastic. Juice was amazing! Great atmosphere with music and food. Superb location in the middle of town. Parking is free albeit mostly full. If you troll around you will find it. Lots of super local farmers and vendors. Smaller than I expected but that makes it easy to get around to everything.

If you're a "foodie" as they say in Portland, OR this is your place. So many wonderful options...fresh fruit and vegetables also. So come to Kailua on a Thursday and enjoy.

Great place to spend a Sunday morning! Plenty of options to chose from. This market tends to be more geared towards food option, whereas the Lokahi market a few blocks away is more crafts and clothes. Both are a great time!

I come almost every week! I love they have live music and the kids play with chalk. My favorite food is the pig and the lady, pineapple crown juice, the mochi stand and pizza. They also have great noodles! You can never go wrong getting food on Thursday nights here and there's a great selection of produce.

Stumbled upon this market while on Oahu for the day while heading to Waimānalo. I’ve never been to a farmers market like this. EVERYTHING looked so delicious! And we just ate at a restaurant. I was bummed!!! The food at this market is UNBELIEVABLE! I really wanted to try “Journey”, hope that’s the name. This place is a must!!!! We had a green smoothie which was amazing but I hope to return to this hidden gem again. Worth it!

There are actually three farmers’ markets in Kailua. One trades at the parking lot of the Kailua District Park at 21 South Kainalu Drive on Thursday mornings. There’s also the independently-run Lōkahi Kailua Market at 340 Uluniu Street on Saturday mornings. But the main event takes place from 16:00 to 19:00 on Thursdays at the Kailua Town Center Parking Garage, 609 Kailua Road. With up to 30 producers, this is the place to go for seasonal fruit and vegetables, like papaya, Manoa lettuce, bittermelon, breadfruit, guava, bananas, Asian greens and much more. For delicacies with a connection to the Oahu you could pick up a ghost pepper salsa, honey harvested from local hives or traditional Hawaiian treats like kulolo or haupia. And there’s a feast of street food on offer, whether you’re hankering for poke, taro dumplings, Samoan specialties, Vietnamese bites, noodles, Hawaiian Chili, Hawaiian-style BBQ or empanadas.
