Really disappointed the last time we went. I remember there being so many cool exhibits, and a lot to learn. Now mostly photos, and rocks, and coins. Nevada has so much more to offer! Just seems like I ferment learning and seeing so much more.

It's been a while since I've been to the Nevada State Museum. This day, coin press #1 was stamping a special coin. The coin is to honor DATSOLALEE. She was the queen of the basket weavers. Their are many exhibits to see in the museum. There are plenty of old west artifacts and pictures. A very large gun exhibit was my favorite. The museum is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours with the family. Or even on tour own.

The Nevada state museum is amazing. It has very interesting exhibits about Nevada's history including natural history and the native people of the state. They have the original coin press from the museum's days as a US mint and you can have commemorate coins pressed on it on Saturdays. The museum itself is not very big but they do a great job cramming in a lot of fascinating information.

What an excellent State Museum! From the ancient history of Nevada to modern day, everything is in one place. It is a wonder that such a sparsely Populated state would have such an amazing museum. Especially enjoyed the taxidermy and Nevada history wings. I didn’t realize this was a US mint so there is a lot of history here. Not just the gaming industry but all the mining and contributions that Nevada, the state has made. I highly recommend taking time out for this Museum it’s fun to know as much about the state as it’s residents.

Lots of cool history artifacts. Ghost town and Gold mine really stood out. Gave a great depiction of early life of tribes that had settled in Nevada. Worth the ten dollar admission!

We had a wonderful visit to this museum. There were two field trip groups of children but the lady at the front told us their path so that we could go opposite of them. Lots of useful and interesting artifacts, fossils and the variety of information is very thorough from the beginning of time throughout today. It has exhibits of all things Nevada. We will come back to Carson City another day to see the railroad museum. This was plenty for one day.

I did not expect to see so much stuff! Beautiful Nevada History... amazing staff, very friendly and helpful. Educational tours... I loved it! I will definitely stop by again!

I have visited many museums around world, this is a cute local museum with some unique exhibits about Carson City Mint and the silver mining. I was visiting a former colleague who has been living in Carson City for over 24 years after she got retired. She recommended the museum and we had a good time checking out the exhibits. As a guy, I also liked the gun exhibits and early gambling slot machines, you don’t see those exhibits in other major museums. The natural history section is very rudimentary. In all, it was well worth the two hours we spent there! Cheers!

Very interesting place with many highlights. In the cellar there is a gold mine replika of impressive size. A part of the museum is in the old mint building, you can still see the old coin press. Also a large collection of silver art, a historic weapon section, the history of the state, the story about native Indians, information about fauna and flora and many more. Also a large giftshop. Glad, we have visited.

Just amazing places no moreto say. So many things to see and enjoy for all ages. Higley recommend.

Great Museum. So much more information than I expected. The staff are wonderful. Very helpful & informative. The Director, Josh Bonde, is beyond amazing and so down to earth & approachable. Definitely will be going back. Recommend it to everyone if you get the chance to go. Multiple trips and you still wouldn't see it all.

This was amazing! Perfect for any age. It gives plenty of information about history through the museum with some fun things even the children can look at and probably ask questions. There is a whole part with a ghost town and a hidden staircase to a mine section. The worker there was great, I didn't talk much to him, but my father chatted with him for a while and helped with some questions. It's a great place for visitors to learn about Nevada!!

It was absolutely wonderful to spend a few hours and to brush up on Nevada History. Great exhibits, audio tutorials, and tours.

I love a good museum! This place was surprisingly good. The parking was free as I found a place in the small parking lot right behind the museum. The cost to enter was $10.00. The clerk was helpful, provided a map, and how to navigate the building. The only downside is I went on a Saturday to see the mint working, but it was offline on the day I went. The amount of information and exhibits was impressive. You can learn about the people, walk through a recreation of a mine, see a ghost town, learn about the mint, see a bunch of local wildlife, and much more. I recommend planning at least two hours to get through everything the museum has to offer. The only reason I gave the museum four stars is the mint being offline. I checked the website and GoogleMaps before making the drive and nothing said the mint was down. Other than that it’s a definitely must see if you’re in Carson City!

We hadn’t been to the Nevada State Museum for a while and decided we needed to revisit this place. So we set out on a rainy day with nothing else to do. We were glad we did as the exhibits there are so well displayed. There was a section on the history of gambling in the Nevada that we hadn’t remembered and that was particularly well done. Also much had been added to enhance the Native American section. We ended up getting a few items from the gift shop also. All in all, it was a very enjoyable visit.

Visited the State Museum with my family and we had a great time. It's not a huge Museum but it's sure filled with a lot to see. One of our favorite parts was the mint area. The video you can watch has some really interesting information on Carson City and the history of the Mint through the years. They do have it open to see actual minting of coins but just on Saturdays I believe. There are parts that they are expanding and we can't wait to go see the new parts of the museum when it's all done.

Fantastic museum! Lots to see about Navada history and the Carson City Mint. Very nice gift shop as well. Lovely staff.

Restaurant was very disappointing. The entire floor looked like it hadn't been swept or vacuumed for days. Could understood if it was busy but there were only 2 other tables occupied. Ordered 2 coffees & had to have the waiter bring 2 fresh ones after we added the creamer that was obviously spoiled. The food was only about average. Considering the prices, I expected a lot better

Hidden gem the food is amazing late night spot to eat good food service absolutely amazing.I highly recommend this place.

Great happy hour at Draft 55, but there's the smokey scent there even though it's nonsmoking.

Best locals casino around!! Friendly staff, great environment. Clean. Relatively smoke free, but it is a casino so expect some. Palm Court Grill is is good casino cafe. Craft 55 has some great local beers on tap

The William Hill sports book was closed on Sat. Night? Probably no fault of Casino Fandango. Didn't win this trip. Staffing seemed a little slimmer than my previous visit 2 years ago. Food was good enough. Just, nothing screamed 5 Star! anymore. One nice thing, I felt safe in this casino.

Just paid $32 for two of the most pathetic breakfast burritos I’ve ever seen. This must be a joke because I’ve never received such a sorry excuse for a burrito. Someone gave me the recommendation this morning to go here because they make “large burritos” I was told. This is absolutely pathetic and I won’t be coming back.

Casino Fandango is a great place to hold an event! The facilities are very nice with a large hallway outside the main rooms that is ideal for gathering or setting up a buffet. The service was outstanding. In particular, Josh, the Banquet Captain, did a great job. Whatever was needed; a juice for an attendee, fixing the speaker volume or microphone, or jumping in as an extra bartender, Josh was there making it happen with a smile! Even with about 100 participants, the food was excellent with the steaks pink and tender! Our DAR conference went very smoothly!

Love this place. Have been going here to eat and gamble since I was 21. They are always improving everything which makes it a wonderful place to be. Plus all the bomb restaurants to eat at. Dukes Steakhouse is one of my favorites in town.

Our favorite place for gaming, food and drink! The staff are friendly and helpful and really seem to care for the customers. The restaurants offer high quality fare at decent prices and drinks are on the house while you are gaming. Please don't forget to tip your servers well!!! We win sometimes and we lose sometimes but we always have an enjoyable time! The only thing keeping us from giving a 5 star rating is that smoking is allowed and that is a big turn off for many.

Went to check out the casino and found out there was a bbq cook off on the top of the parking garage. Score! Tried some ribs after playing some blackjack. What a nice surprise. Carson city ribs were the best!

I went here on my way from Hoover Dam and this was a great little find. Turns out the museum had been closed for a private education event but the staff let me enjoy the museum anyways and I sure did. This place is great. The displays are fantastic and clean. A lot to look at here. I recommend any rail enthusiasts to check out this place and families to.

This is a great little museum. It is put together by locals who love trains - full size and models. Within the building, they had at least 3 locomotives and some cars. They have a gift shop that was fun - especially for grandmothers around Christmas time. They were also putting together a model train board in preparation for an event. Well worth the modest sum. Kids of all ages will enjoy going here!

This is a smaller museum so it won’t take long to enjoy. Nice displays and information, along with some hands on experiences for kids (and a fun scavenger hunt!). Trains have been lovingly maintained and the staff is very knowledgeable. There is a small gift shop and some outdoor areas for exploring (in good weather).

Are you a train nut? If yes then this is the place to be. Friendly staff greets you. Museum is well taken care of. Volunteers have so much restoration on engines and stock cars. I was there when they brought out the steamer for the first time in over a year. I even got to ride up front. Boy. It's hot in the cab. Fantastic

I love visiting train museums, and this is a great, inexpensive one to visit. It's small, but that is fine. They have an interesting small collection, much of which is Virginia and Truckee. Grounds are very nice as well. We did not take a ride, but they were available. Helpful and interesting volunteers around to answer questions. Well worth visiting if you have an interest in trains.

If you like trains and you're in the area, this should get pinned on your e-map. There is a working engine for rides, some interesting train cars outside, nice depot, great static displays in the museum building and a warehouse with an engine and more train cars. If you go past the warehouse there are several disintegrating old train cars in a fenced in area. I've been here a few times and enjoy it every time.

First time visiting the museum and was impressed with the steam locomotives and rolling stock. The only down fall is the steam excursions run on a limited basis so if you want to catch a ride out of Carson city on a steam train you better call first and find out schedule.

Great little museum with friendly staff and great displays… They have quite a bit of history on display and everything is very informative, with videos and reader boards. They have a number of working trains still and have their own turntable and tracks on the property. The restoration barn is a must-see with some great displays and a number of items awaiting restoration. A great little museum, probably a 2-3 hours to tour if you stop to read everything.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum is a cool museum to visit in Carson City. The entry fee is $8 and there is a min structure with a few historical train engines and cars, as well as alot of history of railroads in Nevada. There is also a second large train warehouse/shop with some unique trains that you can go inside and see, as well as other restoration projects that are underway. Well.worth a visit if in Carson City, and can be toured in about an hour, and there are more activities during the summer months.

Nice museum to visit. This museum is great for a quick museum visit since it doesn't take long to see everything. Best to visit it on the weekends so you can ride on whichever train they have running at the time. Nice little gift shop and the employees are all really nice. There are employees all around who answer all kinds of questions you have. There is a small area where you can sit to have a snack if you choose to. 17 and under are free and the price for adults is just 8 dollars They do run special events that I'm sure you can find out about on their website.

This place is interesting and charming! We enjoyed it a lot! We got wristbands for unlimited train rides and museum visit! This place has a lot of volunteer helpers! They do most of the job. We were very excited to have this experience and cherish the memories about this beautiful museum forever! Thank you!

Wanted to come to Carson City but had no knowledge about the Nevada State Railrod Museum! To my surprise, I learned quite a lot from my tour of the museum. The history of the Nevada-Virginia .There is a timeline from the beginning of how the railroads were constructed, what Woodburning and Coal burning steam engines were used..There are multiple types and parts of the engines and passager cars, hand cars on display as well as the train depot and it's telegraph key all original equipment. Tours and rides are available for a fee.This is worth the trip and the cost. It is an excellent learning opportunity for young children as well as adults.

Met docent Cory. She was great, knew all the answers to the questions you'd ask. Very nice, very interesting visit. Had never seen a "wind splitter" before, and found out why I never will again! Saw an up-grade - down-grade bike!

My boys are 11 and 10, they loved this place. So neat to see the restored trains. Volunteers really know their history. Glad we stopped!

We were able not only tour the museum, but to watch the Christmas train steam engine get ready for the next day's trip. My husband & his son got to ride the engine to the turntable, and assist with pushing the lever to move the engine to the proper track taking it into the roundhouse. WHAT FUN!!

Volunteers had answers to all our questions. Very nice people. Very train, historical knowledge. Worth the trip to get up close and personal with these beautiful trains. Can even jump on and see details. I could add 100's of photos,but you should really go foryourself.

This is a really fun stop if you're into 1880's railroad history. There are restored historic trains, cabbooses, passenger and railway cars to look at. Kid friendly too.

Cute little museum we visited while at Lake Tahoe. Near Costco. Great stop to add if coming down to stock up on supply.

This is the most wonderful place on earth to take your Kids aged 1 - 100. There are signs , not to climb on things. Your children will not read these, please keep them in check. The rules are for SAFETY. The best times to go are the special days in the summer, but it is warm inside during winter hours , and the exhibits are well labeled and maintained

I love popping into the Capital Buildings of the states I visit. They are doing renovations on the outside and there is scaffolding covering the entire building. It isn't an eyesore as much of the building is hidden by trees. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. While the capital building is on the smaller and less opulent side compared to others, I was impressed by their interactive and thorough museum. There's no gift shop. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

A lovely historic building that you can self your. We saw the assembly hall, the governor’s anti-chamber, the museum, and more. It was very interesting and a lot of fun. It’s free to enter. Don’t miss out!

Beautiful construction dating to 1870 in the italian-esque style. Excellent arboretum type tree plantings in the front courtyard many different types of trees each with its own plaque. Cool rotunda type building off the back so don't forget to peek around. Fully enclosed with wrought iron fence all the way around the front of three sides parking garage and other secure buildings behind it. No photos from inside as it was after hours when I was on the grounds.

The 1871 Neoclassical building has been the office for many of the Presidents men and First Ladies. It has been a vaulted time capsule which houses the Nevada Proclamation. Along the walls with Nevadas respectable virtues and state statutes. With hallways of spiritual shadows and hand carved statues. During the after hours the courtyard transcends into a elaborate light festival. A seasonally decorated walk through park called the Carson Complex. Perhaps the most unique feature about lighted decorations is that it brings out the best shadows among ordinary figures. Should you peek through the front of the State Building. You will find a shadowy statue in the corridor. A tribute to our nations original front person, before governors and secretaries.The Native American.

Quick look around. Free. Nice sculpture of Abe Lincoln with no beard. Able to walk around their small museum celebrating 150 years. Small room filled with artifacts and a bit of info. Nice staff. Able to take pictures! Beautiful building. Lots of flowers on the outside of the Capitol!

Loved our stop and tour of the capitol. The tour was excellent and we enjoyed the little museum as well. Everyone was friendly, would highly recommend if in town.

No disrespect to the ladies that work there. But if a member of the public with a camera is enough to shut down operations and throw away extra resources, they really need to hire people that are more emotionally strong. It's not the 90s anymore ladies.

Attractive small-town capitol building with a lot of history and beautiful grounds. Parking is relatively easy and the capitol building is quite accessible.

Because of wildlife, there isn’t blue sky over, but the place is very quiet and beautiful. Also there are several statues which can tell you history for why the city is called Carson city. It is worth to visit.

An icon in Carson City with the usual casino fare, entertainment and food. Home of the original Batmobile which is cool. Have pool tables and weekly tournaments but they are small, 7 foot tables. Mostly old, retired customers per the demographics of the area. Home of the famous Awful Awful burger....food isn't too bad.

Love this older but upgraded casino. Great food and games. Perfect for locals to play games and enjoy good reasonable priced food. Restaurants had friendly, helpful staff and excellent service.

They have pool Tournaments here on Tuesdays at 2pm. I love to shoot pool so whenever I have time I will enter the Tournament. Yet it's rare when I do have time to do this for I'm usually busy then. They have some good players there so it's a challenge & I learn to play better in time when challenged as I think many ppl do. There's are many kinds of games to choose from to gamble on. They have about to play cards, 3 bars, 3 restaurants & Bingo on the main floor. Upstairs there are Conference rooms & their larger events are held up there.

Not much luck here, but the atmosphere and friendly staff made the visit worthwhile. Play long enough, and the cocktail servers will keep you plenty hydrated. Very cool inside, and the cigarette smoke was barely noticeable. Always a plus!

It has been years since I have been to this casino. We used to gamble and eat here all the time. It opened its doors in 1954. So it has been around the bin. It is a fun place to gamble especially if you are a local. They have a bingo parlor too. In 2008 it became the oldest Casino in Carson City. The Casino has an excellent Coffee Shop, Steakhouse, and comedy club. Needless to say, it still maintains its nostalgic feel. So if you wanna try your luck with the locals and make friends, try this Casino. If you are looking for a venue for a special event then you should definitely give this place a look. Keep in mind that Carson is not that far away from Reno or Sparks. Not to mention, the money you save well be worth it. I have yet to revisit the coffee shop but the steakhouse was amazing. Especially, the Prime Rib.

I love this old world but renovated Casino. Plenty of slots and table games for a local crowd. Food in the restaurant was good and the service was excellent.

Everyone was friendly! The bartender John really made the visit awesome. Great guy and smart! The bat mobile was very cool.

I'm not much of a gambler, and all the casinos here in NV are smokey-smelling. This one gets some good acts and is clean.

Machines are extremely tight. I do win every once in a while but nothing to write home about. Customer service can definitely use some personality in its life but it is getting slightly better. And then after about 9pm most days you're lucky to get a drink. Better yet, you're lucky to even see a bartender. Been there many times and they didn't even have 1 working the shift. If there was 1, they were working all 3 bars by themselves The restaurant really needs work in every area. There's 1 or 2 good servers but for the most part they are rude. You can tell who their favorite customers are. And If your not 1 of them, good luck getting any service at all. As far as the food, nothing to brag about either. Many times has been cold or poorly put together. My boyfriend & I both had a breakfast burrito on 1 visit. Ordered the exact same thing. 1 was average size but whoever put it together needs to learn how to roll them up. Pretty sad looking. The other looked more like a pencil. From what I've heard, at 1 point Carson Nugget was a hot place to go with excellent food. Don't know what happened but definitely not that same place anymore. Decided to give it 2 stars instead of just 1 because there ARE at least a couple employees there that try to make your visit a pleasant and enjoyable time

I like this place, very comfortable small casino, nice feel and very busy. We dined at the Eatery and while our waitress was amazingly absent - the manager stepped in, served us and made this experience superb. Very good food and Very small, but excellent sound and a terrific. All in all, well worth coming back to, the staff and their efforts make it worth it.

Plenty of parking here, the food was decent with a varied menu. The server got our food order wrong and we ended up with food we didn't order. Didn't make a fuss about it as she was on her own. The food was good though !

For those of you that are visiting Carson City, Carson Nugget is one of the oldest and most established casinos restaurants in the area. I had the occasion to visit there with a friend for lighting of the Christmas lights at the historic legislature as well as all the city lighting up and down Carson boulevard. The coffee shop and wine bar at the Nugget was handing out free hot chocolate and cookies. As a non-smoker. I appreciate it. The clean air of that part of the facility. I also had occasion to search out a restroom. The first thing I know they didn't appreciate it was about 6:00 pool tables that were in good use by customers at the time. I also like to mention Gina's 5 days of live music that she produces in the showroom every week. If you like dancing music, that's a great place to go! They're locally owned and operated. I always enjoy supporting those businesses.

The atmosphere was very comfortable. My date and I had a fine time entertaining ourselves. They kept the sidewalks clear of snow and ice . Overall had a great time

The cafe had good food. Friendly staff, just seemed to forget to come back to the table once food was out. The toast coupd of used jelly and maybe ketchup or sauce options with hashbrowns. Would go back

Didn’t spend time in the casino, but tucked in the back corner is a bar called Gina’s that has live music Thu-Sat and occasionally other days. They have a stage, about 15 tables and maybe 8 seats at the bar. Music starts a little earlier as most of the crowd are local retirees. Gina is usually the bartender and super friendly - generous pours and reasonably priced. Saw a Big Band this week that was a lot of fun! (No smoking in the bar which is nice since the casino is so smoky.)

An historic home in a quiet neighborhood. There didn’t seem to be any security around. It would be nice if they had yours.

Today was a lovely day in snowy Carson City at the Governor's Mansion. The flakes were 4 or 5 inches and so fluffy! Talk about winter wonderland. Unfortunately, the Governor and Mrs. Sisolak were unavailable today, this Christmas Eve Eve. Otherwise we would have come in for tea.

Fun on Halloween. The Governor filled my pocket with candy and took photos with everyone.

My friend took me for a ride to check out the Carson City Must-See attractions. Nevada Governor Mansion was quite low key in a quiet neighborhood, nothing special, no security no guards. My friend told me you can visit the Mansion only on the state holiday, the anniversary that Nevada joined UNited States. However, any non profit org can request to use the mansion to host charity and fund raising, that is quite nice for the governor to use the public venue for some good deeds! 👍👍

The Governor's Mansion is absolutely stunning. It is open to the public only one day out of the year and that's on Nevada Day! The tour is free and is given by people dressed in period clothing. You get to see all the rooms and learn about the history. I loved the silver place settings with the Nevada shaped napkins. The silverware even had little "N"s on them! They also do an amazing job of decorating the outside of the mansion during the holidays.
