Of all the tours we did in Virgina City Pat our tour guide at St. Mary's museum, was by far the most knowledgeable. He also does tours at the Sutro Tunnel. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. The church is beautiful and very peaceful. Since Virginia City was full of Irish Catholic minners the churches history is really a great place to get a history of the city.

Very nice church with a small gift shop. The have a museum at the bottom. Please take a minute to talk the the gentleman that works there. He is full of knowledge and information. He is like a walking wikipedia for the town.

Bring my kids up here every few years and they enjoy it. Love seeing the historical artifacts. Love the murals that are painted on the wall.

Beautiful Catholic church in Virginia city. It's a must see if traveling to or through this old historic town.

Wonderful Church. Old pipe organ, choir sounded great ! Father's homily was clear and understandable. Make sure and visit the Museum. Also there is a wine sold in the gift shop that benefits the upkeep of the Church. The chardonnay is really good.

This church is gorgeous inside and out. I loved the ceiling beams the most. The wood beams are really a work of art. There's a gift shop at the entrance where you can buy postcards or candles to light. A museum in the basement that's really cool to see with a lot of old photos and memorabilia.

Entering St. Mary in the Mountains is like walking into God’s House. Architecture built without power in the 17 hundreds is among the classic Cathedrals in all of history.

History of this church is phenomenal and the beauty speaks for itself.

A fun place to visit and get some history and a drink. Very dog friendly. Two dollars or a drink will get you access to the museum in back, along with the crypt. They also have a full tour of all floors available to purchase.

Great place to grab a drink and take a haunted tour! Our tour guide was really informative and had great personal photos and audio to share with us. You get $1 off your beverage at the bar if you show them your tour tickets.

Very cool place to stop by. Drinks were good and cheap, but the tour was the neat thing. Interesting history and the tour was done well. I'd recommend checking it out if you're into history or ghost things.

What an incredible place. Hanging out at the bar is a great experience. The ghost tours are definitely worth it. 30 to 40 minutes upstairs on the second and third floor and more.

Outstanding place to visit while in Virginia city. For ten bucks of so you get access to the whole place to explore and take it all in. This place is one hundred percentage creepy. The third floor is possible the most haunted of the whole building. Fun for the whole family , no doubt about it!

I wish I took pictures but I did an overnight there. I caught spirits. Haunted but good people. Haha. The people that work there. So friendly and nice. The people in Virgina City are just nice in general. I'm coming back for that drink though.

Took the tour it was very informative but stay with the group because getting off on your own is spooky. My wife took a picture in the mirror and swears she caught a shadow figure behind the door. Blow up the pic and see what you think!

Great place to have a drink then do the tour. Keep in mind you can see the museum, spiral staircase, and stone room (crypt) in the back without doing the tour. Tour was worth the $10 but might be a bit unexciting for those that don't buy into the whole ghost/supernatural thing. If you are tight on time (or money) and aren't a Ghost enthusiast, you wouldn't be sorry you missed the tour but otherwise I'd say it's definitely in the top 4 things to do in this little historic town. Tour guide was informative but definitely was catering to the Ghost Hunter Crowd but I refrained from asking hard questions in order to not impede on the other people's enjoyment. Kids in the group loved it. In the Winter, bundle up as the tour is in the unheated area of the building. Didn't eat here but bar service was great.

First time doing a ghost tour and it’s very disappointing. Unknowledgeable and rude ghost tour host who is pushing you through the rooms quickly while telling you that she has a time limit. There was a total of 5 of us and 3 people at the bar. Rude bartender. I’m sensitive to spirits and didn’t pick up anything. The scariest part of the tour was the unsafe conditions of the building. It would have been more interesting learning more about the building. The history of the Crypt was very interesting otherwise just another want to be haunted tourist trap building.

LOVED it! Very cool, with LOTS of history to it. It was even on the program "Ghost Adventures."

A definite stop if you are a paranormal fan. The tour was entertaining and allowed you to roam around. You were free to take photos, record video and basically anything paranormal related.Our tour guide was really nice and knew interesting tidbits. Afterwards we went to the museum where ghost adventures played on a loop. Visit the bar and spend time talking to the bartender. She is an incredibly nice person and is willing to share her experiences at the Washoe. I had a blast and really enjoyed myself. The tour costs $10 and occurs every hour and ends in the museum. The museum is $2 but if you are drinking they let you in.

This was a really fun saloon. The bartender was really nice. And the drinks were well made. I did not go on the ghost tour, but the museum was fun all be it small. The museum is free with a drink purchase or $2 a person. I did like how clean the bathroom was.

We love traveling to VC and a few times a year, it’s like walking back into the early 1900’s, we enjoy shopping and checking out the ghost tours at The Washoe Club and Mackay Mansion. I highly recommend coming to this adorable old town!

The woman who helped us was very sweet and helpful. Some of the places only accept cash and you can prepay with a card here. Gave us a ton of information and a map. Showed us where things were that we had payed for on the map and gave us their current hours since this is their off season.

Great place to learn about the local attractions and their hours. Nice public restrooms as well.

This place is tiny inside, but you definitely get a sense of so much history in here. People who work here are super nice and so much to look at. This was one of the stops for Hot August Nights poker run. One of these days, I'd love to walk around.

The Virginia City Visitor Center is a great place to star a visit of the Old Western cute gold mining town Virginia with many of its original buildings still standing today. You can easily spend a full day visiting the many bars, restaurants, candy and souvenir stores along the Main Street and many original homes from the time. There are many details to pay attention to while strolling the old western style wooden sidewalks. People are generally friendly, but the city can be crowded on weekends and holidays. By all means worth a visit while in Nevada.

Love the place! Its like taking you back from old country ... nice people. Lots of shops to get souvenirs. Ice cream in waffle cone is the best to beat the heat. Dont forget to stop by and buy sweets before you leave. They have ATM machines. Please donate when u use their bathroom to keep the area nice and clean. But we find one rude grumpy male parking attendant. It was a nice experience.

I love this place. We enjoy spending the day here at least a few times a years.

Barney Fife cops in the town with nothing to do but give out parking tickets for $195. Evidently they voted to charge this absolutely ridiculous amount of money just recently and low and behold the cops are now all over town looking for tiny infractions to raise revenue, praying on tourists struggling to find a parking spot. When I returned to my car the guy next to me who also had a ticket pointed at mine. We both tried to figure out what we had done wrong because it didn't say "No Parking". There was around 12 cars with parking tickets just in that general area. They were also camped out at each end of the town nailing anyone driving in above the 20mph limit which drops well before you get into the town. Total speed trap. This is a tiny town and yet the cops were all over the place looking for any tiny thing a tourist might do wrong. You want to cost the businesses in your town tourism then this is the way to do it. I used to take visiting friends and family to see the town all the time. Never again!

The town was so cute and full of fun shops. Very interesting if you’re a history/mining buff like me and my husband. Everyone was very friendly except the lady at the Visitors center. Didn’t seem to want to give information on the town (even though that’s her job) and wasn’t excited to be there . Other than that, we had a great day.

Small but nice visitor center, with a very informative and helpful gentleman at the counter named James. Appreciated the restroom, brochures, map, and tips on how to visit the cemetery and access its audio tour. We’ll come back another time for the saloon & mine tour next door.

They have a bar crawl on the same night as the Christmas parade. Town is filled with drunk people filling the streets so bad that the good folks in the parade could barely navigate down C street. Put the bar crawl on a different night ffs.

Cool little miner ghost town. A bit on the creepy side. But either than that it is well worth the find. Very tiny very little to see unless you are into paranormal then ive heard they have a tour of one of their hotels established 1859.

Nice gentleman helped me get tickets for the trolley, made recommendations, and gave me this map (pic attached). Silly little tourist town with all kinds of nostalgia from growing up in the area.

This town is amazing. So much history and beautiful scenery! People are friendly and service everywhere is awesome!

Informative museum, with plenty of local pieces of history. They have a movie playing on loop to give a more in depth lesson on the town's beginnings. They even have some Mark Twain memorabilia. This stop is well worth the $5 a person (kids under 11 are free).

Lots of interesting history, including pieces around mining, gambling, medicine, and Western history. This was a 30-45 minute experience and was well-worth the $4/person admission

This museum exceeded my expectations. I have been in many small town museums that just feel like an antique store that doesn’t let you touch anything. This place was actually very interesting and had tons of great items, maps and displays. The the one map of the mine shafts and tunnels was particularly mind-boggling. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Virginia City and remember to bring cash for a discount!

A lot of advertising but not so much to see. Of course a lot of interesting stories, models, tools and much more about the mining history. Even a short film, featering Merlin Olsen (Little house in the prairie) about the area and town history. Nice giftshop. Anyway, entrance is only 4 Dollar, so drop in!

Small little museum with some cool stories and artifacts from the silver and gold mines that once made Virginia City the richest place on earth. That is a good short video that tells of some history of the town, and highlights that this was the place where Mark Twain got his start writing.

The museum is nicely laid out with plenty of interesting and well preserved old west artifacts displayed outside and inside the museum. There was also outdoor benches amidst the western artifacts to just sit and relax on a nice and sunny Saturday morning.

The best $4 you'll ever spend at a small museum. Really happy we took the time to see the place and the road to get here was a lot of fun to drive.

A cultural landmark! Many original artifacts such as desk, geographic maps, chalkboards and more. There was a friendly staff member that was very knowledgeable of the history of the school. The visit cost $7 for adults and slightly less for children. The museum is quite large. Parking is next to the building. Parking is slightly on the small end so get there early. Great views of the valley from the parking lot.

I actually went for an interview at the 4th Ward School Museum. I did tour the place and it's amazing!! The architecture is beautiful and loads of interesting lessons on mining, minerals, Mark Twain printing press. So much to learn about there!! Kids 5 & under are free, as are active military personnel with a card.

This was a nice place to see. It has a lot of the history and photos of old Virginia City. I didn't post any photos of the inside as its a paid museum, but it was worth the price of admission.

Virginia City in NV is really pretty and full of history, and definitely, if you are close by, stop and see it fpr yourself. The school is also worth visiting.

Loved Virginia City lots of history and this is where the tv show Bonanza was filmed. Worth the trip. Beautiful Victorian School.

So much cool history in this building, its amazing to think about how school back in the day, what their day to day lives would have been like.

Really great experience and a really passionate staff dedicated to preserving the history of Nevada. The curator (I think) took as much information about my wife's great great grandmother (who taught there) and my great grandfather (who attended there) as she could and the passion she had for accuracy was amazing.

Very cool museum! While we were here there was a couple who had taken a picture of this building and they saw faces in a window on the second floor. They believed they were ghosts and we all went to the room where the ghosts supposedly were and she said she felt heavy and had goosebumps. I saw the picture it was like a grey shape ... I don't know. I felt fine though. It's fun to think about! Besides that there is a lot of history about the school and you can see their writing on the walls and desks. We liked it. 👍

The museum was nice. Our favorite area was the classroom exhibit. We were a bit disappointed that you couldn't get to all the floors but the renovation is on going.

It was a great experience. The history behind the school from begin to present is just so unique. Also had exhibits of interesting parts of the town. Mines, old switchboard, printing press, dress shop...etc. I think my husband and I spent an hour or so here, exploring all the rooms available to even the writing on the walls.

My husband and I visited this beautiful historical school this weekend. We were amazed with all the beautiful original antics we saw. Everything is set up nicely with posted history and stories to read along the way. Well worth the visit. We will stop by again next time we are in the area.

Great museum! They cover history of the school as well as history of mining and Virginia City too! This school was built to educate over 1000 students at the same time! Many of the original desks and maps and furnishings are still there. If you go to Virginia City, this is well worth your time to see.

This historical saloon has been closed for awhile. The owner has had problems with the ngc, liquor licensing, and what I understand the local government. Last information I had heard was that it went up for auction awhile ago, but it still sits vacant. A very sad situation for Virginia city.

Mediocre food. Slow service. Stood waiting at host stand forever before having to track someone down. Window seats beset by flies. Don't eat here, just go check out the suicide table and eat else where.

In a time where we are expected to recieve slow and poor service, Jamie is a breath of fresh air! Awesome server, she is everything that was pre Covid "norm" ! Thank you Jamie for making our day, despite that fact that you were short handed and busy, you handled it well with a smile, good attitude and above expectations!

It was permanently closed and there was no indication on their website to that effect. I even made a reservation on their website and did not receive any reply that they were closed.

Live music and spicy Bloody Mary and popcorn on demand. The place is hysterical and historical. Turned out some patrons were from a local history society and dressed in 1850s to enjoy the music. A real experience.

Nice historic place to go in a beautiful little town in Virginia city, food was ok, service slow but we were not in a hurry

This place has a great historical atmosphere. I've been here a few times over the years and they have always had decent food and been relatively friendly. If you go there during the hottest part of summer, it is a nice way to get out of the heat for a bit and relax. The menu as of last check was reasonable and the staff did a good job keeping the place clean. I've enjoyed my visits here. It does usually take a bit to get your order, particularly if you are there in the off season, but that is likely because they do not have as much staff. Overall, a good place to go.
