Real cool place to get calm and down to earth. Nature’s wonderful all around Bonaire, but this place is special. Also the team there knows it’s job and takes it serious. A lot of know how and expertise and at the same time a very friendly, welcoming and amicable atmosphere. Mangroves have a very special ambience - take good care of it and treat them with respect.

One our all time favourite excursions on the island. Fun, surprising, educational and good exercise!

Amazing experience. Learn the ecosystem surrounding mangroves and see the life they protect. Great guide and beautiful area. It is a little physically demanding as you have to canoe over some choppy water into a headwind and swim against the current if you do the two hour tour with snorkeling. Well worth it. I could have spent many more hours exploring and watching the birds, turtles, and fish.

Worth every penny! We did the long mangrove tour, with snorkling. It's special to kayak through the mangrove and it's beautifull. First we got some info about the area, then we got into the kayaks. It is a bit of a workout and it comes in handy if you have some experience in a kayak or canoe, but we had a patient tour guide (Myrthe) and allways waited for the slower people somewhere with some shade. We were with kids, 6 and 9 years old, each in a two person kayak with an adult and this worked out fine. Myrthe was explaining a lot about the mangrove area and was answering all the question from kids and adults in the group. Snorkling in the mangrove was nice, saw a lot off colors on the roots of the trees and a lot off fishes.

Loved it loved it loved it!!! This was an amazing thing to do on the day before our flight home when you can't dive. The guide was fantastic. She explained a lot about the ecosystem of the mangroves. It was a nice, easy, relaxing trip in the kayak. The only part that anyone might consider physically strenuous was when we had to kayak across a lake. However, the guide was very cognizant of the fact that we had a diverse group of young and not so young people on the tour. You were able to take your time and go at your own pace. And the lake was full of sea turtles. We saw so many coming up for air as we paddled across the lake. The snorkeling through the mangroves was equally amazing. The mixture of fish and other sea life was a treat to see. I cannot recommend this experience enough.

A must visit on the island! Most insightful and fun excursion we have done on Bonaire. You don't have to be a kayaker, the pace is really relaxed like everything on the island. Danielle is the absolute best, super passionate and friendly and knows everything! Would always come back here. Great spot to find flamingo's as well.

One of the best and most informative cruise excursions I've ever taken.

We did the 2-hour guided kayak tour with Danielle, who was extremely knowledgeable, and really enjoyed it! We brought our own masks and snorkels, as well as towels for afterwards, and our other items were stored securely while we were kayaking. The tour was mainly given in English, which we really appreciated, and Danielle also translated some for the Dutch participants. The kayaking was manageable though a bit strenuous crossing the bay to get to the snorkeling area. We enjoyed seeing/hearing the birds, especially the flamingos, at the Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab as well. A beautiful afternoon activity!

This was one of our favorite activities on our trip to Bonaire. Will definitely repeat for next years trip. We did the 2 hour tour and would have loved to stay longer. Do yourself a favor, take a half day break from diving and go kayak the mangroves. You won’t regret it.

The mangrove waterways of Bonaire’s Lac Bay are ideal for immersing ones-self in the beauty and serenity of the natural world. The Mangrove Information Centre is about 15 minutes from the capital, Kralendijk. Just across the street a shallow pond provides a gateway to the mangrove forest. With the sun magically filtering through the mangrove canopy overhead, we ventured from one tight passageway to another, momentarily exiting each mangrove thicket into a small open pool of water. Whenever we reached a large enough body of water, we stopped and gathered as a group so our guide could point out and explain the different types of Mangroves that we were kayaking through and the different birds we were seeing. This was the most relaxing Caribbean kayaking tour I have ever taken. There is always a gentle current flowing through the mangroves, however paddling the kayak was easy going. Even crossing Lac Bay was not overly strenuous. After a few short minutes of navigating through another maze of mangroves on the other side of the bay we came to a bit of an opening in the mangrove forest with a noticeably sandy bottom. We got out of our kayaks here and put on our snorkelling masks so we could get a glimpse of what was happening below the surface. After watching jelly fish floating around the mangrove ocean floor our guide lead us into another narrow passageway, this time we swam and snorkelled against the current where I saw bright coloured sponges and large clusters of mussels attached to the roots of the mangroves, as well as several groups of large fish hiding amongst the mangrove roots. What a great couple of hours blissfully lost in one of Earth’s most valuable ecosystems. It was great to experience life in the mangrove forest, smoothly gliding just inches above the water with nothing around us but bright indigo sky, green mangroves and varying shades of blue water beneath us. Totally enjoyed this place! It was our first time on bonaire and learned alot on the mangrove tour with our guide Erik. Erik made the whole trip extraordinary. He taught us about the history, development and functioning of the mangroves and introduced to us the life of the animals and mangrove plants. We had a great time! Highly recommended when visiting the island :) Tip: bring a gopro if you have one - definitely worth it.

What a unique way to spend a few hours on the beautiful island of Bonaire! The preservation of mangrove forests around the world is something we all need to take ownership of. What better way to get people to pay attention than to have them paddle through the magic that is a mangrove forest. From the moment we arrived at the centre (after a typical Bonaire dirt road drive), we were greeted by flamingos, roosters and even a pair of donkeys playing tag. Our guide, Erik, was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to make sure everyone understood the significance of our experience. I highly recommend you do this tour through the Mangrove Centre itself and not one of the other operators. It was breathtaking to paddle quietly through the dense mangroves...it felt as though we were in another world. If that wasn't enough, you also get to experience the beauty beneath the water with a short snorkel session. It was very different than snorkeling on a reef, but the abundance of fish was amazing to see. We also really enjoyed seeing the jellies, the sponges and oysters connected to the mangroves. We paddled as a family of four (two teens) in double kayaks. Our entire group was only 10 people, making for a very intimate excursion. All in all, this ranks as one of our top two experiences on Bonaire. Thank you! P.S. We purposely chose a day with no large cruise ship in port as we did not want to deal with a large crowd.

Everyone should get the chance to visit such a magical location. I saw many people both young and old manage the kayaking, swimming, and snorkelling very easily. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and make learning about the area fun. It’s important to enjoy these precious pieces of nature while they exist and we still have access to them.

It was an Awesome experience kayaking the Mangrove and seeing all the different types of Red Snapper Fish, upside down Jelly Fish, Sea Turtles and all the small fish. The guide was very nice and informative. It’s very educational for all ages learning about the island of Bonaire while enjoying the waters. The guide spoke very good English and also German alongside Dutch. I’ve never used Ocean Kayaks. I personally own a regular lake kayak. The experience level is for all skill levels. I highly recommend coming out here.

Windsurfing on shallow water with stable 4 Bft wind, best place for beginners

This is one of my all time favorite snorkel spots, and I've snorkeled all over the Caribbean, Hawaii and the Red Sea. Ignore the reviews that say there's nothing to see or that the coral was rubble. They were in the wrong place. You do have to walk 20 minutes out to the reef and there'snothing to see between the beach and the reef until you get near the reef. For a large part of that walk, you're in waist to chest deep water (I am 5'6" for reference) and the tide change is minimal. Aim for the middle of the bay between the 2 points. You can see the waves crashing on the reef. Too far to the right and the coral is small and not great. To the left side, it's amazing. If I lived on Bonaire, I'd do this at least once a week. You'll start to see coral before the reef. Put on your fins and mask and snorkel the rest of the way. The closer you can get to the reef, the bigger the fish will get. We saw hundreds of fish and many different kinds. Much of the reef is too shallow to swim over unless you are really careful to not break or touch coral. Truly beautiful. I and 47 and my husband is 65. We are in average shape and had no physical issues with doing this (some of the reviews make it sound like you need to be really fit). Do it. You won't be sorry!

Loved it! Great beach for those who are a bit shy about getting into the water. Clear, serene water, and low enough to venture out and have the level remain lower than knee level. Every so often, you see a male senior, nude, walking into the water. The good news is that it looks like a crepe paper body suit, so it’s not offensive. It’s on my top places to visit every time I visit Bonaire.

This is a good historical attraction. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. This attraction has numerous small, white huts that slaves who worked at the nearby salt mine lived in. You’re able to go inside the huts, but they don’t have anything in their interior. There are some informational signs about the buildings at this site in English and Papiamento. I gave these slave huts five stars because it’s an interesting piece of history. You only need about ten minutes here because it’s quite small.

Admittedly the slaves had quite the view but knowing that half a dozen of them were packed in that hobbit-sized domicile is mental. The fact that these huts were maintained and shoved in the faces of tourists like us is admirable lest we forget how tourist destinations like Bonaire came to be

Interesting historical site that is well maintained. But not much to see here. Short 10 minute stop will suffice.

It is unbelievable that 2 slaves lived in each hut. They are very tiny.

I have mixed emotions when it comes to these, given the human tragedy they represent, juxtaposed with the natural beauty that surrounds them. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit if you find yourself with some free time.

Long lasting budget accomodation - thankfully no longer in use

Love this reef. A great variety of things to see. Easy access. We visited in 2014 and stayed at Sand Dollar condos. This site was very convenient to that location. Most corals start in the 40ft zone and deeper. Diving here at night was amazing.

Pipe Horse, tiny juvenile Trunkfish, Yellowhead Jawfish, I am happy with the catch of the day. Pictures will follow!

great place to snorkeling! easy sandy entrance and a huge unpaved parking lot. no water, no toilet, no trash cans. but you may see moray eels around the sunset and lobsters at the night.

Very easy access for snorkel & dive. Good mix of fauna; reef is distinctive though limited in terms of total volume of coral. A few sand-only regions.

Best diving of my life. 6th year in a row coming here. Have not found such incredible, easy, affordable shore diving. Calm easy dives with so much to see underwater.

This place is only for scuba divers. If you come to snorkeling better run away. There is only few corals which you can see anywhere in Island. All beautiful pictures from web are submited from scuba divers.

They have a good variety of food here, plenty of produce, cheese, meats, breads, snacks, drinks, etc. You need to arrive early in the day for eggs and fresh bread, though. Prices are a little higher than the other stores and more than double what you pay in the States. You will find more unique items that aren't found in the States which is fun but confusing because packages are written in Dutch. You might buy something that's different from what you thought. (Like a tuna pizza)

Whatever you want, within reason, they have. You can also custom order meats for events. They are very accomodating.

Would have loved to see their expanded cheese counter. Everything is fresh and reasonably priced in USD for a grocery store. Layout is easy and store is spotless. For deal hunters or budget travellers…. hidden gems are $1 croissants and $3.75 frozen 🍕 pizza.

Modern store with lots of variety. Covid restrictions allow only one family member at a time. You have to wear a mask. And you have to use a cart. The carts require a token to unlock them,. This can be gotten free from the guard at the entrance.

The place where all the Dutch people shop--I'm told a lot of the brands are similar to home. It feels a little like a Trader Joes, for those of you from the U.S. Has a bakery with limited sweet items. Good deli. Good personal products section--got a great body lotion here. Prices a little higher. Checkers fast. It is always busy. Not my first choice for groceries.

Nice store, clean. Watch out for expired items on the shelves. There are lots. Also, being an island, produce is difficult to keep fresh so watch for moldy items that are left on the shelf. The biggest thing here is that the checkers are not very courteous.

Great market with large variety of goods. Good pricing on most items. You will need to bring your own bag as well as coins if you want a cart (like Aldi's)

Very nice place. Good variety of items. Finding stuff, however, a bit challenging as it's all printed in Dutch so finding similar items you may be familiar with was tricky but we managed.

Great store. Geared toward the Netherlands as you would expect which makes it hard to find some of the things we like, but it is a good store. Great fresh bread and their meat is excellent.

Luxurious grocery store with mounds of delicious cheese and artisan bread, all the beer and wine you need, and every other necessity you could want on your vacation. Prices are reasonable. They are only open from 8-8, so plan accordingly. Would have liked to see more exotic fruits like granadilla (which I found at BonDiGro down the street), but other than that no complaints.

Nearly all food is imported to Bonaire so be prepared to pay over 4 dollars for a loaf of bread, 2.5 dollars for a can of baked beans. Alcohol is very expensive and so are snacks, make a shopping list and be prepared.

Best supermarket we found on the island. The prices were a bit higher than in other supermarkets, but the variety of food was better.

Probably the most overpriced grocery store on the island. Cashes are always backed up and the lanes are never full with cashiers. Has some premium items though that you won't find in other grocery stores here.

Kind of like a Dutch whole foods. Found some great eats and snacks I wouldn't be able to get back home. Prices are very reasonable, cheaper than in the states for some items. Can get wine here and lots of fresh produce, cheese, dairy etc. Note: there's no medicine section so if you need that sort of thing youll have to find a pharmacy or dive shop for motion sickness meds. Also has a fun collection of local liquors up front
