We were a little unsure of what to expect given the mixed reviews Entry x2 Adults = 3900 - AUD $50 aprox My main feedback is the Tahitian Prawn needs to be in a much bigger enclosure. He /she can hardly turn around #prawnneedsmoreroom !! (Also a few to many lobsters in the tank) We really enjoyed it - spent a couple of hours here and would recommend a few hours. Would also recommend taking your own lunch and drinks. there is a few tanks that are definitely over crowded with animals that could easily be fixed and they could have a couple more larger fish and maybe a sting ray. Generally we really enjoyed this experience and thought it was a good opportunity to see the marine life with out-too much commercial activities We would love to see turtle feeding but appreciate nature vs nurture. We feel kids would love this It would be good to have a map on admissions

This was the highlight of our trip to Noumea. What a wonderful place. So well run, and all of the tanks were gleaming and in great condition. All the marine life was looking healthy and relaxed. I was so impressed with the stunning coral displays and tropical fish. Saw several species I'd never seen before. The prices for admission were very reasonable. It was a bit of a line to get in, and it was hot! A bit more shading out the front would be great, but it was not a huge wait. The gift shop had some great items for sale, and nothing was overpriced. Bus stop across the road and made the location very convenient. Loved the outside veiwing pool where the turtle were lots of seating to relax before resuming your tour. I highly recommend visiting here to anyone thinking of checking it out.

It may not be the largest aquarium you have ever been to, and also not the most complete, but what an amazing experience. Their big tank with sharks, mantas and a huge napoleon fish is beyond mesmerizing. We easily spent an hour watching and taking pictures. That was yesterday and were already thinking of doing it again... Also since it's very reasonably priced.

Great sealife variety. They lose 2 stars because the tanks are too small for so many species. These creatures need a lot more space for their general upkeep and well being.

Awesome experience here, so much variety of fish and turtles. Has a great souvenir shop at the end too which is quite reasonably priced! Would recommend spending at least a few hours here

Nice aquarium. It's not real large, but it's worth the admission. My wife and I took about an hour to go through it... we were a little rushed because we had to get back for a shuttle pickup. If not rushed, an hour and a half should be plenty to see everything.

This aquarium was great, they have good selections of living sea animals. There are plenty of carpark around. This premises also located across the road from a beach. There is a fast-food chain next door and few other shops and cafés nearby.

This was the most amazing aquarium I've been to. Well maintained and extremely well designed. The exhibits were of a high standard and very educational. Located in Anse Varta it was easy to get to from town on the #3 bus from Place de Moselle but unfortunately, due to road works, hard to find and enter.

Wow what an experience this was! The reception had an amazing team very helpful, punctual and friendly, wide rang of different species from coral fish to sharks to lobster to jelly fish to turtles everything you could imagine all in one beautiful business, all tanks where crystal clear fish were we’ll look after the environment was a blessing, if you are travelling to new calidonia this is one to put on your bucket list very affordable for everyone very family friendly also disabled friendly to suits everyone’s needs!

Lovely aquarium for the family. We went as part of a tour group, so we had the privilege of entering in the morning outside of the 1pm opening time during the week. The range of sea life was vast, and we were able to learn about the local sea life in Noumea.

Normally I don't like aquariums they are like zoos for me. But this one has mostly smaller aquatic animals in a very interesting and educational way. We attended an animation on the life cycle of the sea turtles which was interactive and excellent. And the turtles' feeding time was also amazing.

I recently visited the Aquarium des Lagons during a cruise, and I was truly impressed. The place is stunningly beautiful, impeccably clean, and the staff are exceptionally friendly. The diverse range of fish species is unlike anything I've seen in Australia. It was a truly special experience, and I want to express my gratitude for making it so memorable.

Exceeded expectations! We were really surprised at the variety and quality of the exhibits. Would be the first time I have seen an exhibit using real mangroves to provide a truly natural habitat for the sea life. The huge hawksbill turtles were great to see up close in the outdoor exhibit. Highly recommend visiting

TOP NOTCH AQUARIUM - Relatively small but all inclusive for aquatic habitats. Animals were alive and well and the condition of the aquaria was second to none. It was similar to Monterey Bay Aquarium but on a smaller scale and yet there was so much to do and see. Great for families with in and outdoor exhibits and activities. Highly recommended and enjoy!

This is an excellent place - I have been to many aquariums and would rank this as my top 3! It is entertaining as well as educational, with plenty of information about each of the species. The highlight of my visit were the two huge tanks - one with a large tropical fish 🐠 glass and another floor-to-ceiling enormous tank with sharks, stingrays and plenty other vertebrates 🐟 and cartilaginous fish!

Outstanding Tour. The Mary D tour to Amedee Island is justifiably one of the top attractions in New Caledonia. The island is public land but Mary D (a family business) has had a long-term agreement to bring tourists to the island so while Google lists this as a review of the Island, it’s actually a review of the only tour option. The only area of this tour that is lacking are the Mary D/Amedee Island websites. They don’t give a clear description of what the tours involve. So I’ll explain our experience. At 7.35am a large bus collected us from our hotel (Le Meridien) and took us (via a few other hotels) to the port where we boarded the boat for an 8.15am departure. The Mary D Seven is a large boat that holds maybe 150 people. Our tour (July 3, 2022) was almost full. The cruise to the island was calm and took only 45 minutes. They served coffee, pain au chocolate and croissants on board. This was not included in the tour price. The island is quite small and there’s basically 7 things to do. We did them all: 1) Sit on the abundant deck chairs by the beach. 2) Visit the small store. We bought a hot chocolate after swimming but given how substantial lunch was, see below, it probably wasn’t necessary. 3) Climb the lighthouse. This was well worth doing. It’s 240 steps but I did it when it wasn’t busy and took maybe 3 minutes to get to the top. It’s not hard and the view is excellent. 5) Lunch. Amazing. The company puts on an extensive buffet lunch. There is plenty of food and drink and it’s all included in the tour price. It was excellent. There was a short dance performance during lunch that was very good. 6) Glass-bottomed boat tour. This is included in the tour and you’re divided into groups of about 30 and given a wrist band which determines which tour you’re on. Each tour goes for about 30 minutes. We saw coral, fish, a turtle and a small shark through the glass. The tour was very accessible, even to people in a wheelchair. The main commentary was in French but another guide translated the key points into English. 7) Swimming and snorkelling in the ocean. This was the absolute highlight. The reef starts at the beach and we swam with large turtles in water that was less than 2m deep and always within 200m of the shore. There were so many coloured tropical fish and it seemed trivial to find turtles. It’s free to borrow masks, snorkels and flippers. The staff make sure everything fits and tell you where to swim. The water is so calm and clear, you could see fish just wading in the water. Remarkably, I estimate only about 20% of the people on our tour went snorkelling. The others really missed out. At 3.30pm we began boarding the boat, were back on our bus at 4.30pm and back at the hotel by 5pm. The tour was extremely professional and the quality of the experience with respect to the ease of seeing the fish and turtles was better than tours I’ve done in Maui, Cairns or Fiji. Ningaloo Reef is probably the only place that has been better. I thoroughly recommend this tour. To Mary D: you’re doing a great job but I strongly suggest adding more detail about the tour to your website.

Great beach and awesome views from the lighthouse (300 franc and only open when the ferry - Mary D - is there). Nice snorkeling and beautiful turtles! Be careful with the snakes! Took a taxi boat for 6000 franc per person. I can recommend the agency called NAUTICA.

Came here with Mary D tours. This island is very pretty. You can go up the lighthouse for 300 xfp. I recommend going up as you get a very nice view of the island. This island has a lot of snakes. They just do their own thing, but please be aware that they are turkey everywhere. There’s a post office on the island, and you can buy postcards and stamps on the island.

A definite highlight of our trip. Staff take special care of you. Great lunch and show. Perfect beaches and can swim with the turtles!

We went in a taxi boat and have a blast. The place is amazing. We saw a few turtles eating . I love turtles so was a dream come true when one of them pop up to breathe in front of me I was about to cry. Such a beautiful creature and super chill. The lighthouse offer amazing views of the whole island and the landscape is movielike blues and white sand. Definitely worth going. Corals where not so bright but I didn't want to go away too far. Still manage to see many 🐠 fishes. We saw 4 turtles, some snakes too. The striped ones. But they are harmless, you just don't want to bother them as they are endangered species so just watch them from afar.

Wonderful day trip from Nouméa and excellent value for money. Crew was extremely warm and welcoming. Lighthouse is great, lunch delicious, cultural dancing brilliant. Snorkelling with the turtles was a highlight, although snorkelling area is otherwise not remarkable.

Had a great day at amedee island, we forgot our snorkeling gear and unfortunately the hire shop only takes cash which we didn't have the bar takes cards and the desperado beers were good , the lunch was amazing heaps to choose from and all delicious, if you don't like snakes be warned you probably will see quite a few although they didn't seem bothered by people and just wanted to hide

Visited Amedee Island with Mary D cruises with a group of friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. The day trip was well organised and included hotel pickup/drop off, ferry tickets, lunch, glass bottom boat tour and island access. The location is stunning and is around a 40 minute ferry ride from Noumea’s ferry wharf one way. It is a protected destination and the ferry only has one service to and from daily on most days of the week. The abundance of wildlife is outstanding and the location was pristine. On the island, one has the option to hire additional equipment at a small fee which I’d recommend such as snorkels, kayaks and paddle boards. The island accepts both cash and card. We were very fortunate and managed to see a number of turtles whilst on the water and a number of local snakes (they’re harmless so long as you’re respectful of their presence). The destination is suitable for solo, couples and families and well equipped with facilities such as toilets. Buffet lunch organised by the tour was delicious and expansive. Definitely worth the ticket price!

Did as part of p&o cruise shore tour. $220 pp only $20 -$40 or so more than booking direct with Mary D who did the tour and have the monopoly for trips to amedee Island but Mary D wouldn't take direct bookings when I tried. Lovely little island white sand clear water. The included extensive bbq style buffet lunch was delicious, desserts limited and average but did include a sugar free mousse and dragon fruit. Show entertaining. Have sun lounges , only a few umbrellas and under trees. Left of jetty facing island was best area . Included glass bottom boat trip very ordinary mainly because not great coral but did see big fish that arrive when give fish food. Snorkeling very ordinary not great but still pleasant pastime. Saw 2 turtles which was great. Be careful rips and sea snakes. We had 2 come onto land under my sunbed! No idea if dangerous or not. No one said anything about them or saw no signs . Left noumea 9am 45min boat ride left island 3pm. Pleasant day relaxing. Probably not do again mainly due to the steep price and felt too short a time. Other better snorkelling islands to ho in area.

Loved this excursion. The staff were super welcoming and helpful The lunch was fantastic, tasty and lots of it. My least favorite was the entertainment. I thought that the cultural show was a mix mash of other cultures. Ie: Tahitian, the poi from New Zealand. I would have liked to see more of what the Kanak peoples culture was all about? The snorkeling was great, but be aware that when hiring these items, you get asked to hand over your passport or drivers license, which I couldn't understand because you couldn't leave the island without handing over these items anyway.

The place itself is beautiful and good for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the beach. Heaps of coral which is great, but on the beach it’s sharp so wear suitable shoes. The restaurant and facilities are limited and parts of it quite poorly maintained. The island is tiny so it would be a struggle to spend more than a few hours there. But it’s a very quick dash from the mainland in the water taxi, and back.

If you are staying at Noumea, going to Duck Island is a no brainer. The best way to get there is taking the glass boat from the pier in front of the Burger King. In my view this island is better than others that are usually better rated (eg Amedée and Maitre). The corals are abundant and very close to the shore. Even my six year old kid could easily go and see all sorts of corals and fishes.

The best snorkelling experience I've ever had.

After reading all the reviews online for Duck Island, we decided to spend a couple hours on Duck Island, If you want to enjoy the good side of the Beach you will have to pay for Beach chairs (as all the reviews advise they are expensive) unfortunately, they do have the nest side of the Island where they clear the beach from all the Coral and rocks. We opted not to hire one but instead explore the little Island, there are very few spots to sit and enjoy the water but depending on the weather the spots are not worth swimming. There is a restaurant on the Island with a few good selections of cocktails, a little expensive compared to the main island. Also great views of Noumea from the Island with photo opportunities.

I was surprised to see how close it is from Anse Vata beach but I love the island for its lovely, clear water. It is not really a white sandy beach but you can enjoy the lovely swimming session and snorkeling as well. Too bad when I came here it was just a day after the storm so the visibility was zero. But I still enjoy the day out here. There is a cafe here as well where you can order some drinks and finger food. And you can rent the umbrella as well as the snorkeling gear if you don't have yours.

Only 5mins from Noumea (1500xpf by taxi boat on the mainland - look for the yellow/red flag) but full of tourists. Beaches covered in dead coral which is surprisingly painful so bring water shoes! Snorkelling is pretty good but better on the further islands so not my favourite. Would come if you are short on time/need convenience. Popular with young families.

As someone suggested in their review, most of the coral reefs are dead but they are still refuge to lots of colourful fishes. I snorkelled there for more than an hour and was lucky to swim with turtles. Not worth renting anything from the island. No fresh water bath available. It is only available on the mainland beaches (5 min away by a ferry). Lovely helpful people on the mainland beach at Rock sail stop ( Hop on Hop off bus). Very hot and two chairs and an umbrella cost about 46A$.

Such a beautiful tiny island ! There is a little restaurant bar in the center of the island, so you can order food and drinks here but be ready to know that nothing is cheap in there ! To be honest with you, I was quite shocked ?! Or let's say surprised ? By the toilet there, there is no water to flush the toilet but only sands to bury your own excrements !

Great place, few minutes far from Anse Vata on taxi boat. Depending of the wind, you can get there in SUP, Canoe and small sailboat. You have a restaurant, a bar and an underwater trail on the island.

An absolute gem! We were there for an afternoon and didn’t get to see everything it was that fascinating! The architecture itself and the grounds are way worth the visit! You’ll learn a ton about kanak culture and heritage. I was moved by their philosophies and beliefs in the role of Nature and it’s relationship to us. The entrance fee is only $10 and you could be here all day! (The reception area could use a coat of fresh paint)

Nice stop, not far from the Magenta domestic airport. There's an entrance fee of $1000 per adult, but it seems well worth it. The Ranzo Piano structure is unique (although it could do with a bit of renovation). Generally there is a café and some shops, but when we went there (Tuesday morning) they were closed. The walk is not too hard, and is very accessible. All in all, a great way to kill a few hours between a flight and the next, plus, we learned more about th Kanak culture. On a side note, there's no shade on the walk from the airport. If it's hot and sunny, consider a bus/taxi.

The museum is a wonderful architectural space with numerous galleries featuring ancient and historic items. Outdoor trail with important local flora labeled and with good description of the significance of the plants. Two traditional structures are also found on property, which are of ceremonial importance.

The walk around the gardens are a great way to learn about the Kanak culture and their connection to the land and sea. It's a must visit and definitely worth it!

Exceptional experience. Gives you great insights into Kanak culture, colonialism, reconciliation etc. besides some magnificent pieces of art, architecture and artifacts. Bold structures combined with a traditional village setup.

This place is absolutely must visit when in Noumea! Located about 20 mins from the city canter you can get here by public bus, taxi or tour guide. Entry costs 1000 XPF for adults and 500 XPF for children and free for kids up to 12, however many hotels offer free admission coupons too. Located between Magenta and Tina bays, the site encompasses an art centre, a museum, performance spaces, a library, a landscaped park and more. Named after the Kanak political leader Jean-Marie Tjibaou - the Tjibaou Cultural Centre was constructed to celebrate the history and culture of the local Kanak people. It’s truly stunning in all aspects, sculptures, exhibitions, plants, views, buildings giving visitors unique taste of local culture, history , diversity and habits. Several main buildings host exhibitions and library, but date you to go outside and see the huts and even walk up the hill for the addition stunning views over the bay and islands are bonus. Souvenir shop and cafe was closed when we visited. It takes around 1.5 -2 hours to truly enjoy the place, so allow enough time to truly experience the place.

It would be very informative if they had the expos in English as well. However, they do offer free WiFi, so one can use Google translate. It is a slow and tedious process and after the first village we just breezed through the exhibits and only read through the ones in English. Anyway, it was organized in a way to go through the villages first and then to follow the Path of the Kanak. However, the path ends where the exhibits end and you have to go all the way through the building again to start the Path. We did it backwards because we were tired. Good if you can read French and some interesting artifacts from the Kanak culture!

Great museum. Very interesting. Daily guided tours daily in french and English but for the English tour you have to book in advance. The best way there is via public transport (bus). Admission is cheap and cost 500CPF each for us.

The museum is really quiet, a lot of traditional Kanak art and explanations about the first habitant of the main island. The architecture look great, several building like the local houses and a garden with local plants.

One of the most beautiful Cultural center dedicated to Kanak culture and accomplished by famous Italian architect Renzo Piano that I have ever visited, absorbed in magnificent parque rich in vegetation even wet by sea.

It’s a cool looking place but not very interesting, unfortunately. Got through the displays reasonably quickly as they weren’t particularly varied. Looks like it’s more of a training centre than a museum. Can read about the kanak history more in depth online. However, always good to support local industry/tourism. FYI the car park is a bit of a stroll from the actual buildings, so there is about a 10-15min walk to the buildings

Very well planned, well maintained cultural centre. Great way to learn about local history, culture, architecture, flora, fauna & the affects of colonialism in the area. A clam, quiet & serene place. Wheelchair & pram friendly.

Interesting cultural centre, set in beautiful grounds. The gardens are lovely and well worth a walk. The cultural centre buildings are worth seeing as well. The experience is let down because a lot of the amenities are closed. The centre would be a great place to shop for tourist/ cultural items and a cafe would be very welcome as the centre is quite isolated.

Great location with everything you need all around you for food and drinks. Lack of public toilets and showers for beach goers. I had to go to a restaurant to use the toilet

Currently getting an upgrade to promenade which should be finished by April 23. The best beach to stay in Noumea. Best bars and gorgeous views of íslands, ocean and sunset.

Beautiful place especially the northern end Lots of families swimming, snorkelling, wind surfing Quieter than “Baie d Citron” aka “Lemon Bay”. Easy to get to from Marina via Taxi aprox $1500 XPF Or can bus from city on Bus#3 one way $300 XPF (aprox every 20-30 mins)

Council has shut the beaches...no swimming, not even a quick dip to cool off because of sharks! Seriously need to revisit this madness decision! Swimming within 20m of shore would be a sufficient warning ⚠️ 😕

This was the best beach, and probably the most beautiful one, that I have ever been to in my life. The water was a crystal clear aqua, warm, (about 24 degrees in May), and so clear you could see every ripple of sand underfoot even at waist or chest level, and watch the small tropical fish shoals passing every little while. The palms and white sand were amazing too, and the people happy and friendly. Travelling there was easy and quick from anywhere in the city.

We stayed at a hotel on Anse Vata Beach and we were very happy. Plenty of restaurants, bars, water taxis and of course the beach! All walkable

Perfect location for windsurfing or wing foiling. Less crowded than Baie des Citrons. Great for watching the sunset too.

Both the corners of this beach have super coral and lots of fish. So take your snorkeling gear and head there. No need to spend any xpf. Best shallow water snorkeling 🤿

It is one of the best beaches in Noumea. Sadly, no one is in the water due to recent shark sightings. I visited 8th April 2023.

Lemon Bay in New Caledonia is a must-visit for any beach lover. The turquoise waters and white sandy shores provide a stunning backdrop for a day of relaxation. Whether you're taking a swim or simply soaking up the sun, Lemon Bay offers an idyllic setting to escape and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Very clean and easily accessible. It currently has a restricted swimming area due to a shark attack in the next bay, but it is the best place for family picnics. There are showers and seats to use. Great place for collecting sea glass and small shells for jewellery.

Lemon Bay is probably the best beach in Noumea surrounded by coconut trees. Must visit anytime of the day, sunrise or sunset. Beach is really calm and is perfect for kids and adults to swim. Plenty of parking, bus stop across the road and lots of restaurants and cafe next to the beach. The beach is about 10mins bus ride from Nouméa's international cruise liner port.

Good safe spot for a refreshing swim. The sand is a bit pebbly and not as nice as other beaches in New Caledonia.

Lemon beach is one of the best beach I see. My family has great time there, blue, white and green color water. Must see.
