Beautiful hotel with excellent service everywhere. The room was absolutely stunning with an amazing view to wake up to. The terrace of our room was really big with so many spots to take in the breathtaking views. The hotel is categorized under Marriott's Luxury Collection, so you would expect that every aspect of the stay would be top notch excellent. They certainly did not disappoint, and my wife and I had a memorable stay. The hotel booking comes with a complimentary winery tour and wine tasting, which was very interesting and educational. If you want to try the Michelin star restaurant on the property, just make sure that your stay doesn't fall on a Sunday, because that restaurant will be closed, which is what happened in our case. The only negative feedback would be that the rooms are in need of a refresh. For example, the toilet paper holder was already crooked and needed to be adjusted and secured. The sealant at the bath tub area also needs to be redone. It is a Luxury Collection hotel after all. Overall, staying at this hotel will be memorable, and I am already thinking of when I can go back.

We did stay their for one night during our Rioja trip. Directly after arriving we had a wine tasting tour which was excellent and impressive.Our room was in the main building overlooking the wineyards.Absolute spectacular.The room was every penny (or Euro cent) worth.the evening was finished by a dinner in one of the two restaurants (not the Michelin star one).The food was amazing!!!!The service in the hotel was really impressive.The employees were nice and helpful. This is an absolute amazing place.If you have a chance to go there,go !!!

What an amazing experience! We loved everything thoroughly - The architecture, the people, the food (9 course), the vineyard, the wine, our stay at the hotel, and the landscapes. Thank you so much for making our birthday vacation so special.

Had a wonderful stay there for my birthday. Approaching the hotel is just a wow moment in itself. The room was lovely...and the bed super comfortable....loved the huge bathroom. The wine tour is definitely worth it..Oscar, our groups guide explained everything so well, very interesting to walk around and learn about the history and the way the bodega works. We ate at the Michelin restaurant which was such an experience. The staff were excellent and the tasting menu a delight. We also briefly visited the relaxing spa! There was an issue with the electricity in the evening for a few hours constantly cutting out (some lights on the room) and no call from the reception to let us know what was happening. We had eaten by then when it was at its worst...but I can imagine the diners would not have had a great experience.

The best winery in the world.. We were pleased that we had a private tour from Sarah. What a treat, what a culture and history. I won’t tell to much, if you are on your way through, try to fit it in your trip, Must visit!

Had a wonderful stay here with my wife in June! The hotel is amazing and bizarre :-) One note, we were surprised to realize there were two wings: One which is in the actual cool/weird part of the hotel, and another with much more normal rooms in the spa wing (apparently there are only ~15 rooms in the original wing, with the bulk of the rooms in the spa wing). Needless to say, we were disappointed to be staying in such normal rooms. Luis at the front desk was able to move mountains to help get us into the original wing, and we are EXTREMELY appreciative of the kind and courteous help he gave us. Food was great, atmosphere was great, and would love to visit again!

Had a 3 days stay in here in September. This is a no luxurious 5 star hotel. It is on the basic side but it is beautiful and calming. We stayed in the Spa building. Rooms: Rooms are large, with a comfortable seating area and a large terrace. Bathroom in room is large, large closets. Comfortable size rooms for a long stay. Restaurants and service: Service was good, but not extraordinary , specially in the Michelin star restaurant. There was a lack of attention to detail, dishes were not explained properly, had to ask for water every 10 minutes. Never had such an average service in a Michelin star restaurant. Food was also average. The winery is gorgeous, and the building facade is magnificent. The staff at the front desk were fantastic, responsive, and super attentive. Specially Maria. Winery visit was lovely, our guide Cristina was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Spa: I used the spa and had a bad experience, in my treatment room there was a spider the size of a tenis ball. I almost had a heart attack. How come the person providing the treatment did not check the room before brining me in? The spider was on top of some folded towels! I had a facial that I did not enjoy. The face massages provided were too abrupt and I ended having a headache ( I guess the spider issue did not allowed me to enjoy the facial)…despite this we had a nice stay. We recommend the hotel, we do not recommend the Michelin star restaurant.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. We have traveled to over 100 countries and found it lacking in almost all respects despite its impressive Gehry façade. Overpriced for its offerings, the hotel in a dull town provided a experience more reminiscent of a 3 star hotel. The interior felt hospital-like with a confusing layout, and the restaurants appeared outdated and in need of refurbishment. The spa was mediocre, and the “Spa” room, although decently designed, had intrusive lighting issues and overlooked the car park, diminishing its appeal. Our dining experiences were particularly disheartening. At the wine bar, our lunch was marred by delayed bread service, subpar fish, incorrect and incomplete dishes, and a salad unsuitably adapted for my vegetarian diet. The evening plans at their namesake restaurant were equally frustrating, with no clear vegetarian options and unhelpful responses to our dietary inquiries. Resorting to their other restaurant, 1860, we found no suitable dishes and received little assistance, leading us to dine elsewhere. Despite the inflated rates and purported luxury, the overall service and attention to detail were lacking. Our dietary needs weren’t accommodated, and basic amenities and services did not meet the standards of a five-star establishment. Our disappointment was further compounded by the manager's unconvincing responses to our detailed complaints. Contrastingly, our stays at other properties in Rioja were delightful, offering superior service, thoughtful accommodations, and excellent culinary experiences catering to our dietary preferences. Properties like Castillo El Collado and Palacio Tondon, along with a Michelin-starred restaurant in Haro, demonstrated the high-quality experience we sought, making Marques de Riscal's shortcomings even more apparent.

The hotel is great in almost every aspect. The only problem is that, for the usual rate, it does not feel like you are getting what you paid for. The room is confortable, the bed is super comfy, the spa is average, the restaurant is good. But it takes some courage to charge you 60 euros for a bottle of wine in the restaurant that was produce at the bodega and it is being sold for 20 euros in the store at the hotel. Too much for a wine service. The breakfast is “a la carte”. It may sound great, but it really isn’t. The options are limited and the service is far from being stellar. As a point for reference, at the same period I soent a couple of days at Castillo Termal Monasterio de Valbuena. It cost me half the price and there is simply no point to start a comparison between the two. Castilla Termal is WAY superior in every single aspect, from the checkin in a contortable chair while you drink cava, to the breakfast, to the whole ambience at the hotel. I would easily recommend Marques de Riscal if the rate would be half of it. At the current rate, nothing can justify it, not even the beautiful architecture and the great view.

Extraordinary stay at this Luxury Collection establishment. From the moment we arrived, the service is top notch! Amazing building designed by the architect F. Ghery - there are two wings to it: the Ghery wing and another one. We stayed at the Ghery wing, Room 14. Absolutely fantastic Design and comfort. You can feel the luxury in every Corner. The Spa experience was also fantastic and the wine tour of the Marques de Riscal winery was complementary- well done to Christina our tour guide who did an excellent job. This is not cheap but Definitely worth the money

The Marqués de Riscal Hotel is architecturally captivating and boasts a unique aesthetic that is beautifully complemented by its surrounding vineyards. My room, situated in the newer wing of the hotel, is impressively spacious and adorned with striking modern-midcentury design elements. However, the service quality, particularly in the dining experience, is markedly inconsistent with the standards I've come to expect from Marriott's Luxury Collection in other five-star establishments across the globe. The shortcomings are not limited to just the culinary offerings; a noticeable proportion of the staff lack the training or competencies that one would associate with a luxury hotel experience. What further diminishes my overall impression of this property is its policy of prioritizing private events over the general guest experience. The hotel has a tendency to restrict or outright close common areas for private functions. Given the hotel's limited spatial footprint, this practice considerably encumbers one's ability to fully enjoy the available amenities.

An amazing and beautiful place Our room (208) overlooked the main building and offered excellent views of the Elciego village. Service: Breakfast: The ladies working the breakfast service gave us one of those never forget moments we will cherish for a long time; Luz Marina, Amelia, and Marcela, thank you for loving what you do. Reception/Concierge: Awesome They definitely delivered the level of service you would expect from a hotel of this kind. Wine bar/library staff: HORRIBLE, RUDE, and clearly in the wrong profession since they lack basic customer service skills. The 2 guys wearing suits, obviously on management level, made you feel unwelcome, not a greeting nor a thank you. On Friday, November 10, 2023, was the worst we experienced. For 10 minutes, we sat without any offer of service, menu, or even an acknowledgment we were there. We actually had to go behind the counter to ask one of the guys in dark suits ( busy texting, ignoring everyone around) to please take our drinks order. The irony of this is that your bill comes with a line for tips. Tour of the winery: a must! The restaurants: The Traditional, as the name implies, serves typical local foods. The Gastronomic: We are adventurous, but there were some items that we couldn't bring ourselves to try. This high price Gastronomic experience left us a bit disappointed. the service was excellent, and so was the view of Elciego at night. The Spa: Amazing!

Probably the most interesting guided church visit I've ever experienced. You get to places you never see in normal church visits, and the new insights gained into history, architecture and the art of renovation were stunning. Also the guide pronounces clearly and neither speeds up to much nor mumbles, so that it's possible follow the tour if Spanish is only your second or third language.

It is certainly not the prettiest or the mos architecturally inspiring cathedral in Spain. However, it has an interesting story of trying to withstand the original construction errors. Fortunately, the cathedral has been saved from an imminent collapse after the last restoration. The guided visit is super interesting, as it takes you to places that are usually not accessible to the public, including the foundations.

One of the best guided Cathedral visits I've ever been on! You start below and slowly move upward until you reach the bell tower, during which you learn about the history of Vitoria Gasteiz and the Cathedral itself. We had a Spanish tour guide but could follow everything with an English audio guide, while able to ask questions in English to our guide.

As the Cathedral is still in a period of extended restoration you have to visit with a guided tour, so the entrance fee will set you back around ten euros, unless you qualify for a concession. However the tour is detailed and exhaustive, including a trip down through its crumbling foundation pillars, then into its spectacular romanesque interior before going up to the Tower. The journey there, along a narrow ledge that overlooks the cathedral interior, before acsending up a spiral staircase, is almost as exciting as the views it offers of the surrounding city.

A must visit in Vitoria-Gasteiz! Guided tours are very good...best option is: Cathedrale Tour + Tower! View from there above the city is awesome! They have guided tours in English...but also audioguides in different languages! This is a sure must visit if you are in town. Check out the tours on their official site! Never had a guided tour like this...for that price...anyway in this world! The Tour ends with projection show of how the coloring of the church was ages ago...never saw something like this before...even in Rome or somewhere else! So much love and affection to history combined with modern technology!

The work done of restoration of this Cathedral is amazing. It seems that construction was not very well done, and during the time the attempts to repair it were not very successfully also. From a few year now, was done a huge work to understand was was wrong and what exactly had to be done to save the building.

Great open space surrounded by bars/eating places, lovely old buildings, an impressive statue and huge Vitoria sign. Perfect place to sit and enjoy a drink and do a spot of people-watching. Equally vibrant at night and feels very safe.

There's a lot to do in and around the plaza. The central monument to the victory over Napoleon is comparatively new, but it lends a militaristic majesty to the setting. There are many lovely shops in the area.

One of the most beautiful parks in Vitoria-Gasteiz, located in the center of the city. Very beautiful flowers and fountains. It would be such a waist to visit Vitoria-Gasteiz without taking a moment to walk through Florida Park.

This park is surrounded by busy roads, but somehow 50m from the main road, it was pretty quiet at the cafe in the park. The cafe was sometimes way too busy though, so pick your time, or go elsewhere. The park itself offers a busy, but green, escape from the city. Nothing too sensational, but it was a lovely place to have a quiet, and cool, beer on a very hot afternoon (after 50 miles of cycling). A bit too small to be much of a place to visit on its own for the park.

Not only is this winery stunning with outstanding wine but it is also accommodating with over-the-top customer service, I visited the winery solo over a year ago and was impressed by the set up in the gorgeous tasting room. A small group invited me to join them and even though we had purchased different level tastings, the staff quickly accommodated us. Additionally, I purchased face moisturizer and eye cream. When I returned to the states, I noticed that one jar had never been filled. I emailed Baigorri and immediately received an apologetic response. A few weeks later, I received replacement products ALL THE WAY FROM SPAIN! What an outstanding business! Can’t wait to return and recommend to everyone!

Went to Baigorri on spec to buy some of their great wine. The doorbell was answered and we were told that it was closed for a wedding. However as we only wanted to make a purchase, despite her being told by her boss she couldn't, she let us in to make our purchase. She also let us look at the views which are incredible. Next time we will book lunch there.

This place is amazing! Beyond the fact that the wine is phenomenal (we left with 5 bottles), we ran into the main vinter while he was on an interview. He was very welcoming and told us to "Go inside" as we hesitated at the door near closing time at 1230. Our Sommelier for our tasting was incredible. Talked to us about the terroir, specific differences in grapes and processes, and how it impacts tasting notes. We tried most of their offerings and were exceptionally impressed with the B70 (of course the top end wine) and the Tempranillo Blanca. Do a tasting and enjoy yourself!!!

Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, the winery is absolutely stunning and the food was awesome! I was very impressed how fast they were able to accommodate us for he tour and highly appreciated everything hey did for us. The vineyard and architecture is nothing short of STUNNING! If your an art and wine lover this is a MUST visit for you! I recommend a food pairing as well to enjoy the wines even more! Incredible! 🙌🏼😍

We chose this visit to see an ultra modern wine production. They assume the fact that they are modern and still manage to make very good wines. The architecture is spectacular. After our visit we enjoyed an gastronomical late lunch enjoyed the view.

Amazing. I did the visit of the Bodega (winery) plus the lunch tasting menu. The Bodega itself is worth the visit, completely built/hidden/integrated within a hill. The view of the valley and the vineyards is breathtaking (especially with the fall colours!!). The lunch menu, very good, plenty of dishes (even too much food!) coupled with different wines. A must do.

We had heard great things about the Baigorri winery, but it's truly even more epic in person. The architecture is breath-taking as is the technology used to build upon the time-honored wine-making traditions of the region. We booked a tour and tasting with Marta, whose knowledge and passion for the bodega was contagious and made our visit a great one. Our only regret is that our visit was one day before the famed "vendimia," but we are hoping to make it back for another visit (and more delicious wines to take home!). Eskerrik asko eta topa!

Wow!! We went to a number of impressive places in Rioja, but this one was an amazingly pleasant surprise. The scale of the place isn’t evident from the road; and the excellence of both the wines and the dining experience needs to be experienced. Very professional, even when I showed up with three kids and no lunch reservation... That said, I’d recommend booking, as this place would be a shame to miss. We went on to a number of Michelin-starred establishments, but have the fondest memories of Baigorri.

We come to the Rioja every other year with a group of friends for tasting wines in different bodegas. Baigorri is an awesome bodega that we have to come back every year. Beautiful location, excellent wines (also creative new wines beside the traditional Rioja wines) and great food while tasting the wine. I highly recommend to visit Baigorri!

The best meal we have eaten in Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Baigorri with a tour in English and only the two of us by default as no one else had booked. We were shown around this very modern winery with its clever designed building which is built into the hillside After the tour we enjoyed lunch in their restaurant with wine Rose, white (the best white wine I have ever tasted) crianza, Reserva, two premium wines which we choose from their specials list Starters was a simple carpachio which was melt in the mouth delicious Followed by smoked salmon Mushrooms( I would love the recipe) Tuna and potato stew Lamb Desert The service was excellent. Every time an empty glass was spotted it was filled The meal was our highlight of the Rioja trip
