Absolutely beautiful mountain and the largest in Great Britain.
We stayed in Edinburgh, got up early in the morning and drove upto Fort William and then to the Ben Nevis visitor center, the people there were very nice and helpful.
It was April so early in the season meaning there was still a lot of snow on top of the mountain, therefore it gets tough going when you hit the snow cap, infact without cramp ons or studded boots it was simply impossible to climb any further, we actually saw many people that simply could not go any further that wanted to complete the three peaks challenge in three days but were unable to. And a few were in tears.
We took our 11 year old daughter which was hard going for her but she managed to complete the climb and actually got a certificate for being the youngest person to climb to the top at that point in the season.
The views at the top are simply stunning and go be honest you feel pretty euphoric and literally on top of the world!
Caution! I made an extremely naive and near fatal mistake on the way down, by sliding down not realizing how fast I was going and that I had gone off from the route I took going up and was heading towards an edge, fortunately I realized in time and put myself into a tumble and managed to stop.
Definitely worth doing, and still to this day one of my most favorite achievements.
After we got to the car and visited the visitor center we drive back to the same hotel in Edinburgh all in good time, we did because it was much cheaper and easier to find a room.
Difficult climb for an inexperienced hiker like myself. Very nice vistas. The climb is difficult but descending is much more difficult. Take short breaks when you're having a tough time. Good luck to you all and keep it safe
I had the best experience climbing Ben Nevis in June 2023 with my hiking group. It was a roasting hot day, so it was quite a challenge but worth it to cool down in the snow at the top. Thunder and lightning on the way down the mountain. Epic mountain and well worth the climb for the views.
Great climb when the weather's good! It's always good to have experience, but we managed to do it in pretty standard kit (boots, dirty sweatpants, fleece, and a coat), so have a go! Would definitely recommend bringing sticks or boot spikes for the snow, as it can be quite slippy near the top

Beautiful scenery. The trail is all small boulders on this route and it’s very long so not great for the knees. If I did get a chance to do it again I would do a different route. Friendly people all along the way and very busy. Leaving early is a good idea. I did this one in about 5 hrs.
Best way to summit is from the north face, although exposed to elements its more challenging. Not for the faint of heart
Not the easiest climb, fine going up but coming down was emotional! Got up in about 3hrs (we went slow and steady with no breaks) and then took about 3.5 to get down. Unfortunately cloud cover meant we didn't really have a view at the top. Ticked it off though probably won't do it again
Very special part of the world, climbed last year, had hoped to do again this year but instead settled for some fantastic views from surrounding mountains
What an experience! Absolutely beautiful scenery when the weather is right, path’s were clearly visible and easy to follow. The accent after the waterfall was a challenge up the steep zig zag path that never seemed to end. Reaching the top was foggy for us and a small line to wait in for get your picture taken at the point. People behind you was happy to take the pictures, the decent was a calf and knee killer if you are not prepared luckily i had both walking poles to ease the hike back down. Would like to go back again and complete in a much better time.

Very proud of my first achievement of climbing Ben Nevis in 6 hours return, set off in the afternoon about 13:15 and have returned at 19:07 with a complimentary stop at Ben Nevis Inn where my family were waiting.
We were really, REALLY lucky with the weather. One word of warning that I STRONGLY implore you follow - get the right gear! If you're going in summer, walking boots. If you're going any other time there's likely to be snow in the second half, so consider snow boots, snowproof jackets and hiking rods! We went in March, and were woefully unprepared, wearing flat trainers that made us slip regularly on the snow, causing great danger to us - personally I am grateful to have survived after wearing the wrong gear.
The hike itself is beautiful and really worth doing. The views are great throughout, and one good thing about going when there's snow is that the views are gorgeous from the top. It isn't too hard in summer, so a summertime hike in suitable weather is perfect for families. In other seasons, be VERY careful about the weather, and make sure to check before you go.
Great mountain climbed solo was so beautiful. The way the weather changed from calm to cloudy to drizzle then to rain sleep snow and then blizzard was amazing to experience. Was solo walking in winter so was quite the experience as was getting very dark towards top and there was a full on blizzard with snow at least knee deep. The path is incredible well maintained and obvious. So much so that in deep snow you can still see a rough idea which way you meant to go. Walkers where very friendly and helped you and gave advance which made for a good local atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the fact it's heavily used for a mountain was at least reassuring in the winter as it makes you feel safer when alone on the uk highest peak making you Britain highest person officially 🎉
What an experience 🤩 I went on my own three days ago, on a clear December day (following the weather forecast). Parked at Ben Nevis visitors centre - £2 for 2h, or £8 for a whole day.
It took me around 2h to walk up the mountain (walk up as I followed the stony steps leading up).
The walk itself very pleasant and easy...gorgeous sceneries of surrounding mountains and lakes.
On the top - different story: lots of snow, icy surfaces, hidden rocks, strong wind with the snow, it became darker...absolutely mesmerising - the long journey was so wort it! Finally I felt the Winter Wonderland atmosphere.
Just if going in winter, be careful and prepared.
It’s a great climb, difficult in places and we managed to see most of the seasons as we climbed up and back! There is a visitor centre at the bottom but it was shut when we got back. There are little facilities there, so just be prepared.
An absolutely amazing hike up! A long old slog all the way up so take your time but the views from the top where amazing, we had clear views and there was snow up the top, which meant we could butt slide down!
Take warm gear for the top (hats, gloves, scarves, wind breaker coat) as the wind picks up a lot.

It was a nice hike. Because of the rain there were not that many others people. Definetly worth it for the waterfalls and the ruins at the peak.
Some day out in Scotlands largest Munro.
Recommend crampons for the top section.

Wonderfull climb to the top. Bit busy so recommended to start early (we camped at the halfway point). If you’re in ‘normal’ shape it’s a nice dayhike. Beware and prepare of for the weather tho, can change at any moment.
We climbed Ben Nevis via the CMD route last weekend. Amazing experience, a great challenge that took us roughly 9 hours to the top and another 3-4 hours down through the tourist route. Park in the North Face car park and follow the north face trail through the forest if you're planning to take the same route.
Wouldn't recommend for a begginner even tho 2 of us are, the ice and snow along the ridge line can be very dangerous and the snow is around 1-1.5m deep climbing up the back route of Ben Nevis.
Perfect trekking experience. I would recommend people who can’t walk a lot to not visit this place as it is a long path with lots of steps. The view is beautiful tho
A little bit busy for me. Was nice to walk up but I think about 2/3. I'm probably going to come back. I like the lake Midway up and particularly like the people I was with would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a nice walk. Watch out for the drops!
Lucky to have had a clear summit and the views were incredible.
This walk took myself and my partner 7.5 hours, stopping with rest breaks along the way and lunch at the top.
Weather was clear and sunny, at around 20-23 degrees on the way up on 31st August 2023.
Had a layering system of zip away trousers, synthetic t-shirt, base layer, fleece and waterproof and hiking boots.
On this sunny day I needed shorts and a t-shirt for majority of the walk and all of the layers with gloves at the summit. I would recommend having lunch break further down due to cold nature of the wind at the top.
A standard weather app was showing cloudy for the day and sunny the day after, was glad we decided on the walk that day as the weather is very changeable.
I had watched a few videos to decide on the difficulty of this walk beforehand, and though prepared I had slightly underestimated the hike. The ease of this walk depends on your walking experience in terms of difficulty, as a regular gym goers doing weight training the slow uphill and step ups of the path was tough on glutes and legs.
I really enjoyed the walk and the views. As someone who likes to take lots of pictures and soak in the views, if doing again I would like to try camping at the lake around half the way up, and continue the following day to make even more of the surroundings.
Tuff hike up today. Early morning start helped avoid most of bad weather. Crampons didn't go a miss either for top as full whiteout. Make sure you have your nav gear too. Wet descent with lots of rain.
Another, even more must go adventure ha ha. It wasn't Scafell Pike for sure, took us some more time to accomplish climbing mountain, but it was fun, not ha ha. Plus 19C at Fort William and -2C at the top, fog, rain, ice showers, wind .....well all the usualls :P I will never say it was a waste of time, never!
Wanted to do this one for a while and the sense of achievement in doing so was great one off the bucket list. Will look at doing again in the summer with better weather as was minus 5 up the top. Pack well as weather can change up the top in a blink as I found out with a snowstorm just as I hit the top. Well worth a visit and not too difficult a climb up and down in just over 5 hours.
We followed the narrow road till it ended at a small parking place. Here you could start some interesting walks. Really enjoyed the waterfall next to the parking and the view to the surrounding mountains.
Again we had lovely weather, the sun was shining, so we could enjoy the view.

Fun to get the gondola up and then an amazing hike up along the ridge line. Worth the effort to hike up to the top of the button lift to get the views of Nevis and above the cloud line. Just get advice as the clouds can come in fast and it's icy after the snow last week.
Absolutely awesome experience. Huge car park. Friendly staff. The cable car ride is approx 15min and smooth with breathtaking views both during the ride and at the top. We had clear weather so could see for miles. Can be closed if weather is bad. There is also a maintain bike section for those who wish to ride down the mountain. It reaches a height of 2132 feet. Cost was £25 per head. We reached there for 3.30pm approx.
What an incredible place for mountain biking! We hired some bikes and spent an amazing day flying down the trails (and struggling back up them again). Not sure if the bike hire place is still there but I implore you to beg, borrow or steal (don't steal) a bike and get your butt up to this place for a bit of high octane fun and crazy down hill excitement!
It was snowing when we arrived, so we took our daughter and grand - daughter up Anoch - mor, about 2000 feet above Fort William. We didn't see the views from up there due to low cloud, but she had fun running around in 7 inches of snow. I had cake and a drink up there which was a fair price, but the girls had hot dog and chips and pizza slices and chips + 2 hot chocolate drinks, and that was £37,also they didn't eat most of it because the food was really poor quality. ( hence only 4 stars). But the enjoyment we all had up there was great.
Excellent! Great facilities and well catered for different activities on the mountain. We took our dog on the cable car and did a walk to one of the view points at the top. The views are phenomenal as you would expect (weather permitting of course). The restaurant at the top also welcomed dogs. The hot chocolate was delicious as was the spicy bean vegan roll. My husband ordered a coffee and a the beef hot pot stew....he said the coffee was really good and couldn't stop talking about how much he enjoyed the stew, saying it was one of the best stews he had ever had! We were really surprised as it's just cafe style food and drinks but good quality. Definitely worth a trip up the mountain for the views, activities and a stop at the restaurant.
Brilliant ski and mountain bike resort, very affordable with lots of options for what do to when you are there.
Mountain biking with all types of the graded trails including gondola uplift for a Blue, Black & Orange.
Skiing in the winter with some beginner slopes that progress to some reds, then blacks all on the front side of the mountain. If conditions allow for it, then the back corrie runs can be phenomenal, likely some of the best skiing you will get anywhere in Scotland.
There are also some walking trails that you can do, along with 2 great cafés (1 at either end of the gondola), and an adventure ropes course with multiple routes.
Really beautiful place to visit. Dog friendly too. Family ticket for gondolas were £65 and ride up and down as much as you like. The two walks to the viewpoints offer amazing views. Knocked off one star for the price of food and drink, totally understand it’s a tourist attraction etc but £2.35 for a can is very steep! Very friendly and helpful staff, cafe at the top has amazing views.
Been skiing here a few times but this visit was late summer (sept 2021). If you like the outdoors and fantastic views then you'll love here. The only negative is the price of the gondola ticket which at £22 each I felt was a bit pricey. It is however dog friendly which is a big bonus and they are allowed in the gondola.
A great day out. We took the cable gondolas up the mountain. A the top there are two trail walks that lead to vantage points with the most spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. There are three tracks, of varying difficulty, to ride your bike down the mountain if you're so inclined. There's cafes at the bottom and the top selling a range of the usual fare, with vegan options.
Sadly a bit cloudy for perfect views, but still a great experience and the clouds made for some awesome photography.
I was trying out that Blue Doon mountain bike trail , it was certainly an experience! I found it very difficult , as the terrain was as expected but thought I'd be okay but ended up walking some of it . Although I didn't enjoy the trail because of my I enjoyed the other lower trails The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are good too
Went there by bus from Fort William. Access to the top via gondola (buy tickets at the ticket office). Very beautiful view from the top:)
Amazing views, but needs more information at the top to advise on views etc. Also for just shy of £50 for two adults, the parking should at least be thrown in for free if you go on the gondola....
A must visit place when visiting Scotland. The play is very well kept and maintained and the experience is bind blowing.
Poor experience all round! Seemed to be endless things unsatisfactory about our visit.
1. Cycled to the resort which brands itself as a mountain bike resort to find that there were no bike racks to secure our bikes to!
2. Ordered breakfast rolls at the cafe which, for the small sum of £4.50, got you two rashers of overdone bacon in a dry roll. There was no butter on the roll nor any sauce available.
3. Coffees were served without saucers or teaspoons. We also asked for some tap water which was help yourself (no problems with that) but the only cups were plastic, single use.
4. There was only one of the toilets in the cafe in working order and that was in use so, as suggested by the sign on the toilet door I went to find the alternative toilets in the gondola hall. These were also closed! So there was a single toilet cubicle in use for the resort before you go up the hill. I would say this is pretty unacceptable on a bank holiday weekend!
5. You have to pay a minimum of £5 to park in their very large gravel car park no matter how much you spend on gondola tickets or in the cafe.
Wild that a place set up for biking doesn’t have any usable bike racks (or any at all?). Also the prices in the cafe are a bit much for what you are getting, on top of having to pay for parking and everything else. The fact the cafe is still using single use plastic is just silly.
Stopped for one night in May on our way North, reasonable price, all facilities for our camper van, pitches quiet although looks like they are still working on bits. Nice walk through the woods. Shower blocks the best we have seen in all our trips anywhere, spotless and well set up
Nice trip up the gondola and fantastic views at the top. For two adults and 1 child it was £60…. After paying we found out that the last gondola was at 4pm so that gave us an hour to get up there and quickly walk to the view point.

What an amazing place to visit! Spectacular road and views on the way to the waterfall, lovely Ben Nevis. Moderate walk, only 6.5 km return, but what a view! Beautiful mountains, lots of waterfalls all way around. Rope bridge to get closer to the waterfall, a bit of adrenaline there. It is a "must visit" place and I was very surprised that we not been here yet! Highly recommended!
A awesome trekking to this beautiful waterfall. This is quite close to the highest hill in UK Ben. The trekking was easy (says the amateur). There smaller waterfalls to the way to Steall falls. Take appropriate shoes and gears.
Parking is available at the start of the trek. It's for free (at least when we went ; March)
Amazing!! Love this short walk. A wee big boggy in places. It’s accessible via a rope bridge but you can still get reasonably close without crossing. Huge waterfall, would highly recommend going.
Really nice spot to visit. Free car park. Then 30/40 minutes walk in between the mountains path. Some parts of the path could be hard but not bad with beautiful views. Fun to cross the river climb on the wire bridge or through the clean and clear water to reach the waterfall.

Lovely walk for able people as a lot of it is over natural rock terrain, narrow to started with then opens up to big fields. Only regret was not packing a picnic like many had done. There were people waiting to go over the steall bridge so we just admired from a distance. And did the walk in about 1h10m return with a few stops for photos, including a quick undergarment shoot for my brand which got many cheers 😂
Long drive to get on the Scottish narrow roads with the give way sections that say no parking but so many tourists ignore that which was sad to see.
It's worth every single step up and down the way there!
Do not give up and keep going you'll love the view and the plain open space to do a picnic, play with the doggies, take lots of pictures from different angles and a well-deserved rest.
Wonderfull easy hike. Recommend parking at the top free parking. If no space there, there is always a chance to return to the large Lower Falls parking (paid parking, public toilets, picnic tables...) If you wish to see the waterfalls up close, you need to cross the steel wire bridge or cross the cold river.:)
One of the most beautiful places to go and visit. Well worth the walk. It's not entirely a difficult walk but there are some spicy parts. If you're not stable on your feet you will struggle.
Absolutely stunning site. Parking was easy to get to. The walk was relatively easy and once down by the falls the scene was beautiful, we went over the wire bridge and down by the falls. Weather overcast but doesn't take away from the breathtaking views. Would be absolutely amazing to have a summer picnic here.
A Must-Go place in order to witness one of the best waterfalls in Scotland. The trekking is quite challenging but doable! Took us about 45 minutes to reach the falls, but once you are up there… Wow! It is indeed a lovely place to be with the scenic beauty of the Nevis Gorge around you.
This hike is a must if you're in the area. Stunning waterfall and scenery. I recommend hiking a mile or two further thru the valley after checking out the waterfall, along the river. One of our top walks/hikes.
Whether it's winter or summer, this is a great walk. The first part from the carpark up to the Glen can be a bit of a scramble in places, especially if wet. Once in the glen, though, it's much easier walking conditions. Don't just stop at the falls, though. Take the path to the head of the glen. it's worth it.
This is a really beautiful walk to take. Starting from the lower car park it is around a 45 minute walk through Steall gorge to get to the open meadow where you can walk to Steall Falls. Take the wire bridge (which isn’t too tricky and very fun) over to the falls where you can sit right next to it. It is a really impressive site to visit. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
Great walk from the Upper falls carpark. I'm not really a seasoned rambler, so the terrain was a bit challenging in places. There were people in normal trainers but I wouldn't have attempted it without a good, supportive pair of walking boots as there's a lot of wet rocks and boulders to traverse.
Beautiful. Really enjoyed our walk. A little bit scarey in some places with a deep drop next to the path but well worth it for the views and the overall experience.

It's about 30 mins walk on a rocky path intersected by streams and gorgeous views along to the falls.
You can either cross the river to the falls on the tripwire, which is pretty easy or cross barefoot to save on wet shoes, just check yourself for ticks after.
Much better to get parked at the upper car park as the lower is about 1.7 miles further to walk and it's a bit of a steep one, unless you welcome the extra walk, and the lower falls are also nice.
Set aside the best 2 hours for trekking to and fro. Best family day out one can experience. Pls carry enough water and enjoy the walk. It’s meant for the old and the young.
Aprox 30-40 mins walking time from car park to waterfall. Easy path, good experiance for kids. Rope bridge close to waterfall. Make sure to wear hiking boots as when is wet it may be slippery. Amazing views. Highly recommends
The majestic waterfall presents a breathtaking spectacle. The approach to the waterfall offers a scenic experience. However, it is advisable to be well-prepared for adverse weather conditions, particularly during the winter season. Despite our inadequate clothing and the strong winds encountered, the overall beauty of the location remains undeniable.
A beautiful waterfall reachable after about a 45min walk along a trail. Parking is available at the start of the trail but can get crowded. There are also taxis from Fort William which can drop you at the start of the trail.
Midgets, as in other places in the Highlands, can be troublesome especially in the fields near the waterfall. Visited on a late summer afternoon. The experience of the walk and the visual treat of the fall is highly recommended 👌

Nice walk, it was absolutely roasting, had a chill out at the top of the viaduct, saw some deer, had a cone of chips. Can't tell you anything about anything from Harry Potter because I've never seen any of them. But as a fan of Scotland is a great place to see ... it IS becoming very touristy because of the film obviously
Becoming very touristy because of the Harry Potter films, but it's not too bad. You can still find untouched nature further out from the main viewpoint. There's a lot of paths to explore while you wait for the train to come.
Best place to view the Jacobite train passing by!
Decent trail. Roughly 15 minutes and you are in sight of the viaduct.
There were 2 places in our side the view the train. I stayed at the bottom part as the train is passing by in my side. But would suggest to go the other side to get a better view.
Must watch place for Harry Potter fans. There are 2 hikes for viewing the train. Pick the spot on the left. The hike to both trails is easy. Just be careful when it rains though.
I was lucky to capture some amazing pictures there.
This was such a bucket list item for an American girl. We parked and walked a short ways on the path up above the track to wait for the train to come through. The train comes through at certain times and it passes fairly quickly so have your camera ready. So grateful for this experience!!

The parking is 5£ which is basically just a donation and the walk there is 15min. There is a hike around it and it'll take you about 1h30 and is not too challenging. Views are amazing and definitely worth it
If you are a Harry Potter fan, it is a MUST visit. However, if you are not, it is still worth visiting as the railway itself is very stunning and well-designed. There is a car park available. To reach the viewpoint, you will have to walk approximately 10 mins, and there are on both left and right of the railway. However, you need to check the train timetable and how the train will go before choosing the path to walk to the viewpoint. There is also a beautiful stream and nature along the route while walking up to the viewpoint. I hope you guys enjoy the view!
Nice to take pictures of the train from here, but the bridge itself, other than being from the movies, is a concrete bridge, which is a bit boring. Would recommend if passing through, or a big Harry Potter fan. Would recommend also going to the monument also, which is located across the road.
Everything and more. Make sure to figure out the times the train will be going by and try to be there at least 30 minutes early. The hike in will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on fitness level. We left 1 hour before the train came down the bridge and that's what we would suggest for everyone else to do. Prepare for over 100 people to be there, rain or shine.
If you’re in the area and a fan of Harry Potter definitely worth a visit for some great photos and a gentle stroll on well made paths. We didn’t go to the visitor centre but I’m sure in there you can get a tea or coffee. Didn’t see the Jacobite steam train go over but I imagine it’s impressive when it does.
Great view of the famous 'Harry Potter' bridge. Short walk from the car park to a fantastic viewpoint to capture the steam train crossing. Just be aware it gets very busy so worth getting a good spot early.
Went to see this bridge as it is featured in the Harry Potter film. The stream team passes twice a day. Got to see the train pass would recommend going as the scenery is beautiful.
Amazingly beautiful. Caught this around 4pm and the light was amazing. Easy walk to the viaduct (1km) with more of a push at the end of you want some elevation to get a picture of the entire viaduct. We were there in March so crowds were quiet.
This place is a bucket list tick off for any Potter head. What an incredible work of art is this place is beyond explainable. The viaduct itself is a site of beauty. The stream engine passes through this viaduct not more than 3-4 times a day. There is free parking available and a good 10-15 mins walk. If you want to capture the best picture of the steam engine passing, you might have to reach earlier as the spots get filled by people real quick. The backdrop of this place is beautiful mountains and a lake and the view you get from a height is absolutely stunning. Magical is an understatement. Such an visual treat is this place.
Lovely place. This is the viaduct featured in the Harry Potter movies. The nature surrounding this area is beautiful and you can follow a trail which will lead you to some spectacular viewing points of the viaduct. Entry is free as it is owned by the Scottish National Trust, you just have to pay for parking.
Beautiful and historical place placed in the middle of an astonishing landscape.
We got here just by case, because we saw the picture in a biscuit box and we asked where is the place. We were just 30 minutes away during our visit to the area. You have to walk a little to get to the top of the hill but it is not that hard, it worth the effort greatly.
Place is ideal also for Harry Potter lovers as this was featured a few times during the 2001 - 2010 movies.
If you love harry potter this is a must see, the views of the bridge are stunning especially when you get high enough to see the tracks. Unfortunately we stood at the wrong end of the line for the afternoon train but it was still an awesome sight to see. Would 100 percent recommend. The car park can get very busy at peak times when the train arrives
Epic views. Loads of tourists. Harry Potter vibes. Very chilled afternoon and lucky to get parking was very busy. Recommended if your passing by. Good walk from car park so take care if not very mobile.
Great views, as well as some nice trails.
And if you're lucky (or timed your visit right) you can also catch a look at the Hogwarts Express.
There is also a very big parking area where you have no issues even with a big motorhome.
I mean, it’s a viaduct. It would be completely unremarkable if it wasn’t in the Harry Potter movies. It was pretty cool when the Hogwarts train came over it. It’s a short hike to get to it. Parking lot is pay to park. There’s also modern, fairly clean bathrooms and a small coffee shop right by the parking lot.
2/10/2023 - Monday. My husband & I took a magnificent train journey on Harry Potter train, passing the Glenfinnan station. The magnificent Harry Potter Bridge. Journey along all the scenic views of mountains over mountainous ⛰️ views. It's really a super fantastic train🚆 journey experience. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A must see for all Harry Potter fans. Car park and toilets are available £5 parking for all day unless Scottish Trust Member. Train was not running which was a shame
Well when we visited the trains on the rail were suspended. 5 pounds for parking felt a bit steep but there were so many people around because it was a public holiday.
The parking was handled brilliantly by the people present on the site as it was very crowded.
There is a small little cafe as well at the entrance if you want to eat/drink something.
The best view would definitely be if you hiked to one of the hills nearby. Unfortunately we did not have the time then but would love to do that next time.
This is so exciting as I was walking through station to the viaduct on a rainy day where the view was amazing but it wasn’t the time to catch a Jacobite train to film. P.S if anyone want to enjoy the Jacobite then please visit this place from march 28 till October as you can enjoy Harry Potter visuals happily in clear sunny day
Very busy (as to be expected), even off season the parking lot can be full and the hill has tons of people on it. Most didn't seem to know the train was canceled currently. You aren't allowed to fly drones here.
A must see for every Harry Potter fan. There is a small overview, the path starting right next to the visitor’s center. The walk up there takes around 2 minutes and from up there you have a great view od the viaduct. The main trail leads you underneath the viaduct and then up on the other side of it. That walk is 100% worth it even in rain. Once up there you will have an amazing view of the viaduct. You can either return to the parking lot or you can continue to the Glennfinnan train station. I can only recommend it.

The train doesn’t go everyday so check before you visit.
The train journey over the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland was absolutely enchanting! The majestic landscape, coupled with the rhythmic click-clack of the tracks, created a mesmerizing experience. The sight of the viaduct amidst lush greenery and mountains is truly breathtaking. A journey filled with awe and wonder – highly recommended! This is the best way to re-live the childhood memories of harry Potter.

A great wee location to visit Neptune's Staircase while on tour, also able to get great views of Loch Ness at the view point below the locks.
Plenty of parking close by, good food and refreshments available and room to walk around enjoying the views.
A lovely place to walk and to watch boats progressing through the locks with the aid of professional lock keepers, Barnaby and his team. We chatted to the sailors as they were going past. We watched large ocean going yachts passing through the locks and the swing bridge which was opened to let them all pass westward to the sea. We loved the relaxed vibe and the lovely views. Not all of the shops and cafes were open on the days we went which was a shame, it would be even better if they were. It was quite busy at the lower end, but was a lot quieter once you walked uphill to the top of the locks.
Stunning and beautiful location for a brief pit stop and to watch the boats navigate the staircase.
Super interesting place to visit. One of these historical marvels.
If you are into walking, visit the old barn micro brewery for some excellent wee beers then walk the length of the staircase from the bottom to the top, Cross over and down the other side. Ben Nevis looms in the background. Plenty of great wee craft shops too.
Visited this lovely spot while staying in fort william lovely and amazing site, highly requemend to see and the views are amazing parking loads of it and there a bar just to the left hand side you can use
Well worth a visit to this master piece of engineering. Grown up's and children will love it. The place is clean and tidy with loads of parking. The surrounding area has the most wonderful scenery you can imagine.
Near by shopping at Fort William with its lovely sea front harbour, and the working fishing port of Mallaig with lovey, shops,cafes and restaurants.
From Mallaig you can take a short ferry over to Inverie this remote section of the west coast has 70 people or so who live in this lovely setting with very few luxuries except the best luxury of them all being surround by it's (Nature).
Photo's show Parts of Neptune's staircase surrounding canal and mountains, also the most remote pub I have seen freshly renovated, the Inverie harbour and boat trip with it's scenery. We also managed to get a photo of the Jacobite steam train on journey back to Fort William from Mallaig. So lots to do and see including the Ben Nevis range of glorious mountains.
Fantastic piece of engineering. Walked up one side and down the other. Would liked to have seen it working but no luck. Nothing much else to see or do. Took about 30 minutes. If you are passing then fine but wouldn't go out my way.
Impressive feat of engineering, even better if you're lucky enough to catch it in operation with boats entering the staircase locks and the swing bridge in operation. Free car park at the base of the flight, an interesting walk up and down, cafe and ice cream on the way.
Amazing piece with 8 locks in a row. We went late in the evening, so there weren't any boats. But still walking around it was worth it. And there's a great view around it as well!
LOVED learning about this intriguing part of England's history and ingenuity. So cool! We were lucky enough to watch two boats passing thru the canal locks. What a cool process to witness first hand.
I was expecting something special - but then I realized it’s nice but forgotten - so no I’ve takes care of this attraction to make it more tourist friendly (line Glenfinan viaduct 22km away). It has potential but it’s forgotten- pitty as it could be even more attractive than a viaduct. Parking on one side - on south locked by local community, north side open but no overnight and free.
So glad these locks were powered as the journey for a vessel using this was soooo quick unlike this canal locks at Caen Hill in Devices where I chatted to a few people and they said it took almost a day to traverse the locks and it was manually controlled

Famous steam train also passes by on its way to Fort William from Mallaig.
There is 7 locks, road swing bridge plus the train line swing bridge.
Amazing technology, considering when it was built.
Plenty of car parking along the canal plus the Moorings Hotel / cafe / restaurant.
With the added fantastic views of Ben Nevis, this is a must stop for all travellers.
Mid November day, totally quiet with astounding views up and down. Easy walk to Corpach and the final lock to Loch Linnhe
An interesting flight of locks which raises vessels over 60ft above sea level over a series of 8 locks.
Completed in 1822, it took 21 years to build.
It was fascinating watching a large boat slowly work it’s way up the locks.
Large free car park, cafe and several independent artist shops, one I visited sold lovely hand made jewellery.
Dog friendly and a lovely place for a walk.
Large parking available. This site is an engineering masterpiece, it's a shame we didn't get the chance to see any boats.

Marked down by 1 star as public bathroom was closed, so abit inconvenient.
Luckily the sun was shining and it was sheltered from the brisk wind, fascinating to see all the locks, I think we just missed a boat going down but well worth a visit.

A must visit if you have not seen a boat lock in action before. Was lucky as a boat arrived just 10 mins after I did. Waited longer for the steam train at Glenfinnan. First indication of a boat arrival is the siren for the swing bridge closure.
It takes about 15 mins for one lock to fill up so it's 2 hours for the boat to clear all 8 locks.
