This is one of my most favorite trails. It's a bit intense for someone that is not active regularly but the view of the lakes at the top is stunning. There is a hard path and a "well groomed" path. I personally found the well groomed path harder than the hard path. I have been up twice and adored the hike both times. If you get the opportunity, this 45 minute uphill hike is so worth it.

Breathtakingly beautiful! It’s a fairly easy hike, family/kids friendly hike. Took us approx. 30 mins to hike up to the lakes, the color of the lakes is so unique. Total tranquility. 🥰🥰 perfect for a day trip/hike with great view.

My family and I have done this hike a few times now. At the beginning there is two pathways a easy and hard. We take the hard, it's really not that bad. Be prepared for a very busy trail and parking.

It's finally open! My boyfriend and I had a blast taking our puppy to the Grassi Lakes Upper Trail, and let me tell you, it was absolutely breathtaking! We lucked out with clear skies, stunning vistas, and surprisingly peaceful surroundings, considering it was a long weekend. The hike itself was a breeze, with just a slight elevation gain. Clocking in at under 2km, it was no sweat for our furry friend.

Grassi Lakes Trail offers a pleasant and easy hike leading to two beautiful lakes. The path is well maintained, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable walk. The highlight is a lovely waterfall, adding to the trail's charm and making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

Such a beautiful hike. Definitely worth going up as high as you can to see the views. We did the lower and upper hike so got to see the waterfall, lakes and the rock climbers. Utterly stunning. Definitely wear good hiking boots.

Went here last summer, one of the my favourite lakes in Banff area. The color of the lake is amazing! I can’t use more words to describe it

Gorgeous hike! Once you reach the trailhead, you walk for a min and see a fork. Choose the easy route. The easy route is a gradual uphill hike as compared to the difficult hike. We took the easy route with our kids aged 5 to 13. Hike took us 2 hrs in total; 3.6km round-trip. If hiking with kids, pack some snack, take breaks and enjoy the views. Try going on a sunny day to see the full splendor of the lake. Closest flush toilets are at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

Very nice hiking spot. We go here almost every year. We prefer to go at autumn because of the colour of the leaves. Surrounding views are so beautiful especially when you reach the top.

There are two trails to go to the top, the interpretive trail and the upper trail, both 1.7km. The interpretive trail has more scenic views, waterfalls and overlooking Canmore. The first km is easy but the stairs on top are very steep and challenging. The upper trail is a straight path but inclined up to the top, which is not for weak knees. The view from the interpretive trail is gorgeous, and the lake is a picture-perfect view

Stunning views, waterfall, and trekking are the main attractions. I loved the colorful lake and trekking route. If you wish to introduce kids to trekking, this is the best place to do it.

Grassi Lakes trail is an absolute gem and perfect for beginner hikers, with breathtaking nature all around! The terrain is manageable yet rewarding, offering an ideal introduction to the wonders of hiking. Don't miss out on this fantastic experience!

Great place to hike! Took me and my partner 45 min from the parking lot. Please be aware it requires a separate pass from the National Park pass. Cost us 15$ for the day. Otherwise great hike. We were here on April 30th and the lakes were covered with thin ice.

I just started getting interested in hiking and this trail is good for those just starting out. The nature here is incredible, so you should definitely check it out.

What a great trail and hike to take younger kinds on. Just make sure you bring a stroller and a kid backpack, as ours made it their but were too tired to hike back. Greta views od the waterfalls and the lovely lakes. Get their early to eat the rush, as it does get very busy by 12pm

Beautiful lakes with many spots for people to sit down and relax or even have picnics. There were a couple of ladies trying to swim here, but it seems the water is still too cold. The view of the waterfall is gorgeous as well.

A beautiful turquoise lake sitting at the top end of the hill. The hike up is about 30 minutes. Easy walk even for kids and elderly, the road is not very sloped but it is unpaved so wear your good hiking boots and gears. This is one of my favorite hiking/lakes in the Canmore area because it's usually not that crowded but there is enough traffic you don't feel you are the only group.

We have had the pleasure of visiting this place on multiple occasions throughout the year, and each visit has been consistently incredible. Our preferred route involves taking the upper trail to reach the destination and then the interpretive trail on the way back. This combination allows us to enjoy a decent view of the waterfall during our return hike. The trail itself is relatively easy, spanning a short distance of 1.7 kilometers each way. It is suitable for both pets and kids, making it a family-friendly experience. One aspect we appreciate is that the trail tends to have a sufficient number of fellow hikers, so we never feel isolated or lonely during our journey. The lake in this area is a true gem, boasting crystal-clear waters and an exceptionally beautiful scenery. The pristine clarity of the lake adds to its overall charm, making it a sight to behold. Overall, our experiences at this place have been consistently wonderful, no matter the time of year. The accessible and enjoyable hike, coupled with the stunning beauty of the lake, make it a destination we highly recommend exploring.

Easy hike, good for families with small children. Amazing views but does get busy later in the day.

This is one of my favourite hikes! It finally reopened in May after being closed for trail and parking lot maintenance. The new parking lot is really nice and there’s a couple overflow lots that are paved now as well. Bathrooms are at the trailhead. It’s always busy so I recommend arriving early (like before 10am). I always like taking the upper tail up and the lower trail down. The upper trail is the easier one. The lower trail is harder, steeper, and now has rock stairs and wooden railings to help you. The lower tail also features a beautiful waterfall. Once you reach the top, there are two large ponds, several benches to sit and enjoy the view, and some really cool rock formations and cliffs. There’s often people climbing up there too. The view from the top overlooks the entire town of Canmore and is quite stunning. It is a great hike for all ages and fitness levels.

Not the easiest hike but well worth it. There are many viewpoints as you go up and it gets better and better. The lake itself is unique with vibrant shades of green and blue

This was an incredible experience. Our guide Brett was knowledgeable and passionate about the tour and area. It was my first cave experience and definitely felt that it was more difficult than I was prepared for doing. However, I was able to push through and complete the planned route. I recommend checking out some photos of others and make a careful decision if this is also your first time ever doing caving or similar activity. Definitely a once in a life time memorable tour. I’m happy to be able to push out of my comfort zone and make this bucket list item come true!

Was an amazing experience touring a cave for the first time with a group of friends. Our tour guide Sarah was amazing. She made sure we felt safe and comfortable going into the unknown and educated all of us about the cave, its history, and science. Even had the opportunity to sit in absolute darkness, which I can say was my favorite part.

A must do experience in the area. Truly unique, educational, adventurous, and fun! Shout out to our guide, John who definitely made the experience a blast. He kept things light and playful while also making us feel confident and safe during this new experience. Thank you!

I had some knowledge of caving going into this tour, but the experience was still far up and above my expectations! Our guide, Max, is so knowledgeable and passionate about caving, geology, and outdoor adventuring and he made us feel so at ease while we were squeezing through impossibly narrow crevices. We loved the whole experience and are now definitely interested in doing more caving in the future. The approach to the cave entrance is a fairly short hike (30-45min depending on your fitness level) with some beautiful views. It was however quite icy even during the first week of March; the company does provide crampons but it's best to bring your own if you have small feet.

Amazing experience. The hike to the cave, the views on the way, the preparation to go in, and the cave! The chambers, the water pond, the bones, the slide, the climb in and down, and the explanations from our guide. The guide John was very attentive, patient and knowledgeable. 100% recommended.

Didn’t expect this to be the most memorable part of our trip in Canada! Was thinking this will be a simple walk and some climbing but it was a 55m descent , involving squeezing through the tight spaces at some parts. It was challenging and fun, but not overly hard. The hardest part is probably the hike up to the cave and the final climb back to the cave entrance. Recommended to use good hiking shoes as some surface are slippery. The provided gears - overalls , knee pads, helmet and gloves etc were all in good condition, our guide was fantastic as well sharing loads of knowledge on the cave and patiently guiding us through. First time caving for us and very enjoyable experience. Definitely a must do activity when in Banff/Canmore.

I was extremely nervous to do this, I am scared of small spaces and the idea of underground. Within 10 minutes of being inside the cave I was having such a great time and even wanted to do the optional smaller crawls. Go even if you're scared, you might just love it! John was an amazing guide, the walk to the cave was beautiful. Lots of fun science. The best part was I felt like a kid again crawling and exploring! This is a must do!!

This was an amazing experience from start to finish, everyone we spoke with was amazingly friendly. The hike up was beautiful but the caves themselves were so much better than I expected. I thought we would just be walking along the caves but there was a ton of climbing and exploring to do while we were down there. Max, our guide was awesome the whole time too.

Our tour guide, Tiffany, was really fun and friendly. She clearly knew a lot about ecology and geology and a lot about the caves. She had answers for all of our groups’ questions. Tiffany had a very calm attitude when we were stuck in difficult situations such as climbing up slippery rocks. Down in the cave we got to slide down rocks, touch old bones, and observe cool structures carved out by glacier water centuries ago. This cave tour was a real adventure.

This is an incredible tour!!! We did the adventure tour with Sarah and cannot say enough about her knowledge and professionalism! I will say that I was quite surprised at the level of effort/fitness was required as well as the technical aspects of the caving. THIS IS NOT A HIKE OR WALKING TOUR! If you think you can handle it, this is an experience of a lifetime!

What an amazing experience! We squeezed, rappelled, and crawled. Our guide, who was super nice and energetic, asked us to turn off our lights and experience absolute darkness! I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Banff.

My daughters and I had such a seriously fun time on our tour! Brent was an excellent guide and showed us just how capable we were by encouraging us to go through some outrageously tight spaces in the caves! Besides being uber informative during all phases of our tour, he put our health and safety above everything else! Definitely recommend this to everyone who wants a true adventure!!

This tour rocked!!! It was more adventurous than I thought (we were given the option to take a challenging or simple route, we chose adventure) and I had the best time! I would have done loops and loops of the rappel!! Our fearless leader Brent really made the day through!! Funny, personable, entertaining, just all around the best, you could tell he was in his element and having fun and it just made the experience that much better. Definitely worth the drive out, an experience I will cherish for years!

Amazing tour, friendly and knowledgeable tour guides and great at giving instructions. The tour wasnt challenging or scary and it was a good exercise. 10/10 would recommend you can learn some really cool things on the way.

We had an amazing experience doing a caving tour yesterday!! It felt like we were on a different planet, everything looked and felt so unreal and incredibly cool. Our guide, Brent, was very knowledgeable and fun, and he was able to make our caving experience even more interesting, and we felt like we were welcomed and appreciated there. We learned a lot about caves and ecosystems within them while having a true adventure. 1000/100 recommended!

Sarah was a fantastic guide. She made sure on the trek up that there weee frequent rests so it was accessible for different fitness levels. The equipment that was provided was top quality. Safety was paramount and though I was very nervous about the experience, I felt completely safe throughout. The company is highly professional and extremely competent. The tour was five star. As we were sitting in line at the cave entrance waiting to exit, a furry friend (chewy) scurried by all of us - an amazing goodbye! I highly recommend this adventure.

Can't recommend enough of you're a fan of adventure! Its unlike any other activity, an incredible experience from start to finish and plenty of opportunities to push yourself to your limits. Incredible venue for our wedding. The location is so gorgeous and perfect for an outdoor ceremony. The day couldn't have gone better thanks to our INCREDIBLE wedding planner Maren, who is a part of the nordic centre team. She was so organized and my family couldn't stop talking about how well planned everything was. The catering and bar staff were also so great and lovely to chat with. I had a lot of comments from my guests saying the food was the best they have ever had at a wedding! I can't think of a single tiny critique. It really was the perfect location, food, and staff!

I always loved coming here when I was younger to go mountain biking, and I still love it! The trails are super fun and the lodge is great, and the staff were super friendly as well. The service shop also fixed my bike seat after it broke! So it was still able to be a great experience! The views were beautiful as always, so I highly recommend coming here!

This was my first time at Canmore Nordic Centre, what an amazing facility and the trails were steeped in beauty and wonder! It was the perfect alternative to Downhill skiing. We skied at the foot of the mountains. The trail was groomed and they even make their own snow, which was a blessing as there's not been enough snow this year (so far). There was also a place to rent Nordic skis, if you don't have your own.

Great place year round to get outside. Make sure you have a kananaskis pass. Can rent gear onsite as well. Gorgeous views and great trails.

Amazing trail running trails and bike paths. Staff was so helpful. There are resturants, bike shop and more. Beautiful views of the mountains. I ran 9km up and down the single lane trails, very impressed.

Had a fantastic day x-country skiing at the Nordic Centre. Love that you pay for your pass and can literally walk out the back door and be on a trail. The trails were well groomed and well marked. Loved the chalet as well, was cozy and had bathrooms, water fountains, loads of tables and a fire place. There’s also a good café there. If you need to secure anything you can rent a locker for 25 cents.

Large variety of well maintained trails. Lodge is large and clean for warming up or grabbing a bite to eat or drink. Also has a warming hut a bit further out as well as small unheated open shelters for readjusting skis or having a snack.

Great place for sledding, country skiing and ice skating. Surrounded with beautiful Rockies scenery. It has cafeteria with lots of indoor tables & chairs. Very clean washrooms. Can’t wait to go back there in the summer to try mountain biking / hiking.

If you want kilometres upon kilometres of amazing cross country ski trails, you’ve found the place. Home of the 1988 Olympics, they maintain excellent condition trails for both skate and classic x-country skiing. There’s a warming hut about 3.5km from the day lodge so you can heat up & a couple of picnic tables along the way to stop and relax/rest/snack. There’s also a rental spot right at the parking lot that provides skis for about $52/day. They also have lessons in the AM. Just a short 5min drive from downtown Canmore! Highly recommend.

I can’t speak for winter activities but in the summer this is the place to be for downhill biking. There is an extensive network of bike trails from rookie to pro and the bike rental on site rents very good quality bikes.

Fun course with a decent variety. Finding hole 1 is a challenge so use UDisc to guide you. I like that they had a practice basket as well as alternate tees for little ones or newbies. Good signage and teepads.

Stopped here for lunch on my travels through Alberta. The place itself is awesome and lots to do, but the cafe is terrible. Bring your own lunch or go somewhere else. I had the "Prime Rib" Burger special and I got a grease logged frozen patty disaster. The bun actually fell apart on me lifting it up it was so saturated with grease. The "Chili" is best described as Habitants Vegetable Soup with some chili spice added.

Absolutely fantastic Nordic skiing. Excellent training venue, really fun terrain, great grooming, super close to town. This place is legendary for Nordic skiers.

It’s perfect and absolutely beautiful 😻. You can do ⛷️ ski in heaven. All facilities are great. There’s one restaurant also and one rental store to rent all equipment.

Lovely area to cross country ski with many different trails for all abilities. Gorgeous and picturesque views of the mountains and a lovely warming hut out on the trails.

We had such an awesome day at the Canmore Nordic center! We came for cross country skiing and ended up getting an awesome lesson from Matthew at the ski rental shop. He was an awesome teacher and gave us lots of time to figure our technique out. We ended up staying around the practice area a bit longer after the lesson was over then attempted the trails. If we tried to skate ski without the lessons, I imagine we wouldn’t have gotten up the first hill. Thanks again Matthew!

We actually played disc golf here - it was a super tough course so we were happy to tag along with some locals for 9 holes. I was hoping to get a cross-country ski lesson since that’s been on my bucket list for awhile but those had not started yet. There were people out on a course that looped around the day lodge though.

Really nice hiking trail with low/to medium intensity. The trail has some great passages but it can get pretty crowdy. I did the hike early in the morning with the intention to fly down, unfortunately the wind was not good and we hiked down again. Anyhow, you will have an stunning view down to Canmore

Great hike with a great view at the top. Just be prepared with hiking shoes and especially at the top where there is very little railing. Take your time and enjoy the view.

This trail is very well established, no guessing where to go. There are amazing sets of stairs constructed, both stone and timber. There are a number of rough rocky spots, but that's to be expected. The rate of ascent can be demanding, depending on your physical condition. I always find the decent to be the least happy time for my legs. The quick access to a summit and the 360 views that you get are absolutely worth every calorie burnt. Anyone can do this if they want to.

Have been here many times over the years, and am VERY glad that the mountain was shut down so that a trail could be built; it should not have been necessary, but now amateur hikers no longer have an excuse to tear up the land by creating their own convoluted routes up the mountain. Equally as pleasant in winter as it is in summer. Be safe and enjoy! :-)

Moderately difficult hike in the Canmore area, Ha Ling doesn't disappoint with some spectacular views at the top. You're hiking up straight out of the parking lot and there isn't much for flat terrain. Speaking of parking, you probably want to get there early to mid morning if you want a chance at a spot otherwise you pretty much have to stalk hikers coming off the trail to get their spots. The trail is predominantly on the west face so in the morning you'll be mostly in shade and the afternoon will be full sun. The trail has undergone upgrades in the last few years so there are several sections of stairs that make it easier than it used to be. Definitely a classic hike and one that you need to check off your bucket list.

Beautiful sunrise hike! Trail is very easy to follow until the saddle. To get to summit. You need to scramble a little bit. Spikes and poles are needed during the winter. A popular hike in Banff/Canmore area

The hike is challenging but rewarding, with breathtaking views of Canmore & the surrounding mountains, and a sense of accomplishment at the summit. Be prepared for steep sections and crowded conditions, but the experience is well worth it.

We start the trek at exactly 05:20 a. m and reach the top at 07:20 a.m., just to witness the beautiful sunrise that slowly appears behind the clouds. I could say it was a cruel grind because we don't hike often but it was totally worth it.

Hiked up to Ha Ling as an early winter hike (end of November). Snow was packed, sometimes a little bit icy, but easily doable with crampons. Great views.

So the hike is really nice until you get above the treeline. Then it is treacherous and is not for the faint of heart!! To the beginners, make sure you have appropriate shoes and hiking sticks. I was too busy dealing with my fear of heights to enjoy the view.

Amazing moderate hike . Trail was really good and well maintained added with the stairs made it easier and safer for hikers to reach the top.

This was one of the harder hikes I’ve been on. I took my dog and we made our way up in less than 2 hours. Incredible views and A great memory.

This was a very gorgeous and very challenging hike. I definitely would recommend it simply for the views. The trail is easy to follow. It took me and my two friends (were not experienced hikers at all) 4.5 hours total round trip up and down. Bring water and snacks and hiking shoes!

Decent hike. Path is well worn/marked. It's a steady climb but doable for most people! Hit miners peak for an awesome view of Ha Ling peak

As a beginner, this hike was incredible! I couldn’t make it to the peak and just up the first set of stairs as my knees were really giving out, but it was so worth it. We did the climb during the first week of May, and there was ice and snow so Im glad we rented crampons and had poles. No mosquitoes and ticks but we stayed on trail. It took us a total of 5.5 hours in and out but we look breaks and my husband who made it to the top took the time to enjoy the view. Totally worth it and would do it again!

An absolute pleasure walking this trail to see all the beautiful fall colours with the mountains in the background. Easily accessible and an easy walk. Street parking available. You can walk one way along the boardwalk and then come back on the other side of the creek. Don’t forget to stop and view the Heart of Canmore as well!

A gorgeous little trail located in the heart of Canmore. Definitely suitable for everyone of all levels of fitness and hiking skills. You'll get the backyard beauty that locals take for granted every day. This trail is used by runner, bikers and tourists, can be busy at times but plenty to room to squeeze by each other or step off the trail to let others pass. You'll want to bring a camera if so inclined and you'll be surrounded by nature in such a way that at times it's hard to remember your in the centre of town. Great way to spend an afternoon to walk off your lunch calories 😉

Good trail for a nice stroll if you are staying in Canmore and want to relax for a day, and you still want to see views but without driving anywhere. Very walkable in winter, but make sure you have good traction. Entire trail is packed snow, including the boardwalk part. Best views are toward the southern end of the trail, where you come into more open fields with 360 degree views of the valley. The rest of the trail is pretty too, but mostly wooded, and you are walking between and behind a bunch of lodges.

A surprisingly lovely walk through the woods! 10/10 would suggest this trail to anyone looking for an easy, accessible, and quick hike!

It's been many years (20 years) since I've been to the mountains and WOW! I can't wait to go back again - Canmore is beautiful - I've never seen the water so clear, the skies so blue and just, WOW! Definitely recommend going to Policeman Creek - beautiful place.

My family and I have walked the Policeman Creek trail many times. It's a beautiful trail with amazing views of the mountains. The location is convenient to downtown Canmore. When we're in Canmore we will just walk from downtown to the trail. It's a nice place for photos.

Nice little trail that is easily accessible in Canmore and great for an evening stroll. Also great for birdwatching and the views are stunning.

This is an incredibly beautiful trail along the creek. It is mostly paved or hard packed with wooden footbridges through the marsh areas. It continues through residential areas and there are numerous park benches for resting. The places where it crosses roadways offers beautiful photo opportunities from the multiple bridges. It’s spectacular at sunrise and sunset.

Beautiful walks and bike riding along the river. So peaceful in the fall.

It is an absolute joy to be in Rockies and in the town of Canmore. This board walk along the river in a bit of forest in town's heart makes for a gorgeous walk anytime of the year. Latest I visited was in December (-27°C) and man it was nippy, but gorgeous nonetheless. As there are plenty of coffee shops and food establishments in the near vicinity, defrosting wasn't an issue.

Great trail, we started downtown and ended at the river. It was a beautiful family day.

It is a trail in the centre of Canmore. Just consider it will be an after-dinner walk, since it is very short and flat. It could get a bit crowded around 7 pm when the weather is nice. At the end of the trail, you can either turn left heading towards town centre, or turn right and pass the bridge to get back.

During our walk about, this caught our eye immediately. An artist from Alberta was commissioned to design a sculpture for the City of Canmore. Since Canmore means 'Big Head' in Scottish, that was his inspiration. It was installed in 2008 and weighs nine tons. It's right near Policeman's Park and there are several eating establishments in the area. It makes for a nice stroll on a nice evening. Kids will have fun with the idea. If you are lucky you might see it accessorized with a knit cap in the winter or a pirate patch in the summer as the townspeople sometimes decorate it.

It is infact, a head. Good head honestly. Great head! Splendid public statue. You can take photos with it. It's a great head.

Just a head in land @ centre of town. Parking is 150 meter away from this spot. Free parking is available for cars. Walking surrounding of town is superb experience but this place is okay type, not so great. It can be avoided, if you want to spare more time on other sightseeing’s. Apart from this photo, nothing is there. 🤗

It’s a nice sculpture but just super weird and random! In a good spot and easy to get to but would be nice to see if there was a reason for making it or the story behind it.

A giant head near the policeman Creek. Nice attraction to the spot, it is just in the weird location near the street . Could have been placed at a better location.

This is a fun stop to make if driving through Canmore for a quick photo op. The sculpture def seems bigger in photos than in person. There’s also a nice little trail you can walk along a wooden walkway that takes you up to a bridge where you can take a nice photo of the three sisters mountains.

This is a wonderful, weird little sculpture of a man's head. You can't help but pose for a photo up here. At certain times of year the locals decorate him. For instance with a giant wool hat in the winter time. If you're in the area take a look. Canmore in general has some nice public art. Mostly murals

This is a wonderful piece of art in downtown Canmore created by artist Al Henderson inspired by the Gaelic translation of Canmore meaning "great head". It is eye-catching and a great opportunity for a photo stop. Across the street is an interesting boardwalk trail well worth a stroll.
