I had a great time. This is something that the whole family can enjoy. The trip was not super bumpy or scary. Our tour guide would stop at points to give interesting facts or stories. We hung out at Lake Michigan for about 15min. The whole trip was about an hour.

This was the highlight of our summer trip to the West side. My son had to be bribed to get on the truck but when we were done he said can we do it again?! The trucks are modified F250s with airplane tires. Each truck has it's own cute name. Ours was Sand Drifter. The ride is so smooth it's like you're floating. They drive pretty fast up and down the hills and it's like an amusement park ride. They stop at the beach and allow you to get out for a bit to put your feet in or take some pictures. The drivers crack jokes and give you good pieces of information. This place gets very busy during the summer and there's always a wait. There's a nice gift shop inside and bathrooms. This is a must do!

Amazing experience. The tour guides who drive the buggies all have great patter and deliver interesting information along the way. Handicapped accessible with extra stairs and a ramp meant that our group could easily all participate. From 18-80 years old, everting had a great time. Some big hills feel even bigger from the front of the buggy but the ride is smooth and we stayed at a pace that kept things interesting without jeopardizing safety. Beautiful scenery, a chance to dip goes into the lake at the halfway point, and a few thrills for the group made this worth every penny. Last time we came up we took the tour twice. Once in the morning and the next during the sunset, which was amazing. Worth the trip for Mac woods.

This is a Michigan must do! Our guide, Tim, was informative, funny, and made the experience even better. The scenery was beautiful, we've seen dunes, but not like this. Lastly, the ride itself was enjoyable and fun! At first our teens weren't sure about the idea, didn't think it would be worth the hour wait, they quickly changed their mind once we hit the trail! Fun for all ages!

A fun adventure! The staff is great and the rangers know their stuff. Our ranger was funny and engaging as well as courteous. We learned a lot about the history of the dunes and conservation methods. I highly recommend this place.

I loved this dune ride! I've never been on one before but it was a great experience. Our driver was funny, knowledgeable, just a great person to have as the guide. The Dunes were beautiful. The actual truck used was made so you can see a 360 view of everything. Excellent experience.

We had an amazing time! I did not expect that they would drive fast up and over the dunes. Since it was a "tour" I assumed it would be slow with a bunch of talking. Our driver was funny, he shared interesting facts, we got to stop at the beach for a bit and there wasnt too much talking. We were pleasantly surprised! My wife thought it would be cool if they offered a special tour that only included driving fast with no talking or stops, for those people who has done the normal tour in the past but want to do it again with the thrills only! Anyway, we highly recommend. You will have to wait a bit but it's worth it.

Came out here for our anniversary. It was such a fun experience. Well worth the money spent. We got to step out and enjoy Lake Michigan and put our toes in the sand. Highly recommend. $40 total for 2 adults.

Amazing experience and well worth the cost. Very family friendly as our group aged from 6 to 76 years old. Our driver Tim's enthusiasm and energy was great! Would definitely go again if back in the area.

Mac Wood’s Dune rides were great. I love that all ages are accommodated. We went to a different dune ride last year and they had age restrictions. That’s hard if you are a family with littles. Jake, our driver was hilarious. The price was appropriate and the facility was clean! We loved the little Noah’s Arc playground we played on while we waited.

We had such a great time. This was my 7 year old nephews 1st experience and he got to sit up front and "co-pilot", our driver also let him sit in the driver's seat when we were parked. He loved it so much. You can tell this business cares alot about the people and having a good experience. Our tour guide was so much fun and informative and gave us directions to our next stop to the lighthouse which was great. Can't beat the views ❤❤❤ Would def. recommend to family and friends. We waited about 30 minutes for our ride but my nephew loved playing on the pirate ship while we waited so it wasn't bad at all

We had a great time! The cost seemed reasonable, our driver was hilarious and knowledgeable. We went on a Friday afternoon and there was maybe a 10 minute wait before our car was loaded. You get great views of the dunes, lake Michigan and Silver Lake. Definitely a good experience for families! Not a thrill seeking dune ride but there were a couple steep drops.

We made the roughly 1 hour drive up from Grand Rapids and it was definitely worth it. We had 2 adults and 3 kids, ages 3-8, and everyone had fun. It was a Wednesday and we arrived at about 11:45. We were quoted 45-60 minute wait time and it ended up being about 75 minutes. They have a pirate ship that the kids had fun playing on, tons of places to sit, and a great gift shop. The ride itself was great and lasts about 40 minutes, including a stop at the lake to dip your toes on the water. Thomas was our driver and he had a great sense of humor and engaged the group nicely. I suggest giving a tip to the driver, chances are they'll earn it.

We arrived just after opening at 9:30am on Saturday, and there was a huge line out the door. The staff worked so fast to get everyone through, rides went out fast, and my family only waited about 15 minutes for our ride after our ticket purchase. Our driver was so funny, had so many great things to tell our group, and made the trip so much fun for everyone. There is a large step getting in, and people were willing to help my grandmother get in and out, but it would be difficult for someone with mobility issues, likely not impossible though. There is a 10ish minute time to get out and take pictures at Lake Michigan, which is really nice. The drivers also stop quite a bit to stop, take pictures, and talk about the dunes. Very informative, and a lot of fun!!

What a great experience! 18 of us on a family vacation piled into one of the dune buggies. Our tour guide was awesome! He was informative and entertaining. It was worth every cent we paid.

Really enjoyed our driver Chuck. It was a nice ride for our two kids, who are 3.5 and 2. Nothing too wild and crazy so if you're a thrill seeker, this probably doesn't fit the bill. I would say it's at least worth doing it once.

Amazing park! BONUS- dog friendly!! The scenery is beautiful, the sand is soft, and there is plenty of beach to swim on! There are little bathrooms in the parking lot area (no running water though, so be sure to fill your bottles before hand!). My kids loved climbing the dines behind the park. They tried sand berries for the first time (😝). Thdre are some little waves which make the swimming fun for them. We didn't take the tour of the light house, but it was cool to photograph and read about. I couldn't stop taking photos! A must see if you are in the area!

Beautiful lighthouse tucked amongst endless sand dunes. A short walk for those with limited mobility. Fantastic tours available (see website for info). Great sunsets!!

This is the Lighthouse where I proposed to my Wife, while we were at the top. We are avid lighthouse visitors, and Little Sable Point will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love the area, and taking pictures of the lighthouse. Breathtaking views from the top. It's cool to see the little tags around the railing at the top, showing the distance to certain places. Little Sable is always worth the trip to the west side of the state

Nice little park. The beach is beautiful and the lighthouse it’s awesome. For a small access fee you can climb the lighthouse all the way to the top where you have a beautiful view over the lake Michigan But it’s not For the people who are afraid of heights. The parking it’s free if you have a Michigan Recreation passport. The tickets are sold in a trailer in the parking lot not at the lighthouse

Be sure to come on Tuesday as you can climb the stairs and view the lake. Great place for sunsets, swimming, pictures for any occasion from weddings to senior pics, engagement pics or just family pics. Be sure to come and enjoy this Michigan Gem!

Beautiful lighthouse overlooking Lake Michigan. Very easy to get to: a paved road to a paved walking path that leads directly to the lighthouse (and the beach). I'd say it's a must see when in the area, even if not touring the lighthouse. It's a known tourist spot and is typically fairly busy, but with no lines. Restroom facilities on site, but no picnic area that we seen. As of 9/2/23 it is $8 for adults to tour the lighthouse. A state park pass is also required for the parking lot.

Such a beautiful beach, the sand is so soft! I love that the sand squeaks it’s so fun! When we arrived there was a wedding set up right next to the lighthouse- very nice place for a low key but beautiful beach wedding! The bathrooms weren’t as nasty as anticipated so that was a plus! There is a good amount of space on the beach, I would imagine it could get packed pretty quick on hot summer days. But it is very beautiful, it is also rather shallow for a while! You can see my 3’7” three year old girl she can walk in it very well. So it’s a good beach for littles to be able to walk and play in the water. It’s a typical beach and gets deeper as you go out for adults. Also- for a Michigan beach it is not as rocky as some or as filled with nasty grass and gross stuff. It is one of the cleanest beaches I have been too- and It’s just a soft sand in the water- did find some small rocks but no shells to look through. Over all 10/10 would recommend to families for a little vacation spot!

Beautiful, sandy beach with a picturesque brick lighthouse that you can climb for a fee. Concession trailer in the parking lot, although I'm not sure what they were selling as we arrived more than prepared for the day. Paved path up to the beach area. Porta Johns available. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no cell service while we were there.

One of the oldest standing lighthouses in Michigan, and you can climb to the top for an amazing view! Low cost admission with great staff who truly enjoy what they do. The Little Sable Point Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Michigan, originally built in 1873, standing at 115ft tall! The lighthouse still remains in beautiful condition with ALL of its original design and structure, including the light itself which remains in pristine condition, though automated now as the lighthouse is still used. This is an absolute must-see for any trip or vacation in West Michigan for both adults and children! I cannot recommend it more!

The lighthouse was very fun to climb. The view was amazing and worth the scary winds up there! The guides are cool and obviously knowledgeable. The beach was also very cool. Lots of people. The beach was warm and you can go out pretty far before not being able to touch. Parking was cheap and the lighthouse was too.

Easy walk from parking lot on paved path. State park pass needed for parking lot. You can purchase a recreational permit at the entry to the parking lot. Restrooms on site; no running water. Beautiful views all around area. Great for celebrational pictures. Clean beach. Great place to hang out for the day. Dog friendly. Our group enjoyed the beach area; played in the waves, and lounged in the sand. You are able to bring your beach chairs and gear. There is a merchants table to purchase souvenirs. The sunsets are amazing, and the night sky is crystal clear. There is a small fee (we paid $8.00 usd adults) to enter the light house. As you would imagine... you are climbing steep stairs (130 steps), but there are landings with windows to stop and rest or take in the views. There are two water tight hatches and the opening to get to the outside top railing that may be daunting for some to get through. The climb is worth it for the breathtaking views of Lake Michigan coastline. The wind was scary fun on top 360 view. Full of history, built-in 1874. A must stop to check out this Michigan treasure.

I cannot believe I have not been here before! The lighthouse is right there, no hike out from the parking lot. I hear you can climb to the top of this lighthouse, but it was not open when I visited (off season).

Amazing experience the beach is so cool I wasn’t expecting The lighthouse to be so tall

A small group manages the lighthouse and charges to climb it to help with the cost to maintain it. Internet is spotty so bring cash if you can. The climb wasn't bad, but it is a spiral staircase for those with joint problems, or are afraid of heights. Gorgeous view is quite the payoff!!

Had a great time there, was like nothing I’ve done before, the dunes were awesome to ride and beach was beautiful. Definitely want to go back.

Home away from home. Great place for riding and meeting people in a special community that help each other out! Just wish the township would update the laws about orvs being able to ride on the shoulder from campgrounds and hotels.

Really fun place that you can experience the beauty of Lake Michigan and it’s mystical dunes. Sand Dunes with fun for everyone. Whether you relax and enjoy the day at the beach; 4 wheel the dunes; watch dune drag racing or climb the dunes there is fun for everyone of all ages. The dunes are very protected by MI DNR traveling throughout the dunes to patrol and enforce rules. Dunes are clearly marked with where to go and not go. Clean and newer vault restrooms are available out in the park. Great place to go off road, relax, unwind and have fun. 4X4 is highly recommended. There are local rental places for renting dune cars or you can lower your air in a 4x4 and travel just to the beach. Bring air to fill your tires once you leave. The dunes get really busy on weekend. My whole family enjoyed the experience enough to make it a yearly tradition. Once you go, you’re hooked!

Tons of space for adventure on these sand dunes! You can hike across the dessert, drive an ORV around, or just climb the dunes and see the lake or watch the vehicles. Amazing!

Great place to go play in the sand dunes! Rent an off road vehicle or bring your own. Combine sand dunes with a nearby beach. We visited midweek do it wasn’t as busy.

Awesome place to free ride your motorbike. I would recommend going near the end of the year or beginning for best times not being to crowded during the peak in the summertime. But overall some of the best times I’ve had on a dirt bike so much fun throwing the paddle tire on and going wide open on a 450.

Absolutely Beautiful! Perfect for a family trip! PLAN ON A DUNE RIDE- the walk up to the top of the dunes is atrocious. Not good for littles or elderly but amazing if you can make it to the top!

I couldn't say enough Good about it. But I am glad that we had our own side by side to ride the dunes in. The area was very clean, groomed and directional signs were posted. I did get to jump a few dunes, and the drag area was pretty cool. Going in between the trees, jumping the dunes and socializing. It was the best part of my vacation to Michigan.

This is a fun place to spend a day. There is nothing quite like this anywhere else. I would recommend coming on no holiday weekends as it can get really busy.

My girl and I had the greatest time ever thrashing around on the dunes for an hour in our Jeep. Tons and tons of fun was had! Cute little tourist shop inside, super friendly and accomidating staff, best prices around. We paid $165 plus taxes and fees to toy around with our Jeep Wrangler and had lots of fun with it throttling it around up and down the sand. If you come to this corner of Michigan, do this! You won't regret it and you won't find a better price. **Highly recommend**

The Front office folks were excellent. The initial process was also smooth. All the staffs were friendly. I thought the price was a bit expensive(but I really do not know the cost of running a business like this). We took the 1 hour guided tour and 1 hour self drive plan. The 1 hour guided tour was worth and enjoyable. But for me being a first timer the self driving plan was confusing. They did tell us where to go and not to go but it was not clear to me. The exit's are not clearly marked and we can get lost. The whole place is like a market with vehicles coming from all directions. Not an issue with Parrot's landing but the field itself is a mess. But may be Parrot's landing should try to organize their fleet in a specific region. Overall, double thumps up for Parrot's landing. Will do the guided tour again.

Awesome time. Great and knowledgeable tour guide. Had a blast learning how to wrangle the Jeep's up them dunes. Would highly recommend to anyone!

What a great experience! For our family of 5n this was a GREAT outing! The guide was great and instruction for attacking the sand was easy. If you are visiting Silver Lake, you need to see the dunes. And, if you don't have your own means to do so (an ORV, ORV Sticker) Parrot's Landing is the place to gain access to an off-road experience that will have everyone smiling and laughing.

Hayden was straight to the point, but very friendly and accommodating. Cars were in good condition and instructions clear. We didn't know whether to do an hour or two. Decided on an hour, and with two young children that was ample. We had a great time bouncing around in the sand!

We’ve done Jeeps Silver lake dunes tours and also rented Jeeps from this place. Everything was done quickly, smoothly and explained throughout the whole process. Definitely worth the money while visiting this beautiful part of Michigan.

We did a jeep tour of the dunes and then had an hour on our own. Two kids, two adults. The guide was fantastic and if you listened to him, you'd have a great time and stay safe.

Country Dairy never disappoints. The food and chocolate milk are absolutely amazing. The tour is so much fun and informative. I always can’t wait to go back. The staff is always so nice.

Bottomless milk is awesome. The tour is good. The food is good. The people are friendly. Rather clean. The ice cream is great. Getting your food order takes way too long. It’s ‘first come, first serve’ on the tour so know that- don’t show up 10 minutes before a tour starts. The robotic milking system is fascinating. Very humane. They name all their 1200 milking cows so folks will treat them kindly and with care. Best chocolate milk I’ve ever had. Picked it up but haven’t tried the cheese yet. The steaks we picked up were amazing! Interacting with the 4 month old cows was so cool. My 10 year old loves how they liked to lick her fingers! Please tip your driver ;)

Unlimited chocolate milk with each meal! Burgers are awesome. Great selection of cheese, bakery and homemade sweets. It was raining we went so didn't explore much else but it looks like lots to do. We'll be back on a sunny day.

Everything you can get from cows and pigs. Milk, butter, ice creams, meats - Fresh, no hormones, and great prices. Their sit down restaurant obviously uses their own products, and the meals and sandwiches are great! (Bottomless chocolate milk with your meal will keep the kids happy too)

Delicious food! We really enjoying stopping at this place! The food is worth its money and the bottomless chocolate milk hit the spot! Everyone was super friendly and helpful! We didn’t have time to do a tour so hopefully if we come back up this way we can do that! My husband also picked up some jerky and sausage sticks and he was very impressed-so much so that he wished he bought more!

This was a great place for the kids to have fun while having a bite to eat. Outdoor seating is in both the sun and the shade with plenty of sites to see.

We took a random day trip to The Lake and were in the mood for ice cream. Stopped at Country Dairy because it was the only ice cream place we could find open on a cool rainy March day. It was literally the best ice cream I've ever had. It's so rich and creamy. The clerk at the counter was super nice and helpful.

Country Dairy is a lovely local establishment. I got the vanilla soft serve which was SUPER tasty and the pulled pork nachos which were way better than I was expecting. It's a fun spot to see the cows and to try their unlimited chocolate milk! My only difficulty was they have two separate lines for food and ice cream ordering so I had to queue twice, but service was quick and we had a great time.

This place is awesome! We rode 11 miles on the hart-Montague trail to the country dairy farm. It was beautiful. The views are remarkable and the food was delicious. I had a burger with chips and I loved the cheese curds on the side. My kids loved the play scape while waiting for food. The pavilion was dog-friendly which was perfect. We will be returning.

We went to Country Dairy this evening for Ice Cream - amazing! So good. Decent prices - and all the ice cream products are produced right on the property. Decent amount of options available for ice cream as well. Looks like they have a good restaurant and farm tours available as well! Highly recommend it.

We had a group of 9, all adults except 1. We purchase a ticket for the tour, cashier was friendly. We decided to get ice cream while we waited, they were extremely busy but the girls behind the counter were happy and nice. Our tour guide Christina was a lot of fun and Jenny who commanded the horses Daze and Dan was also friendly. I can't remember the gentleman that was cleaning in the calf barn but he was nice and stopped to tel the little one in our group about some of the calves. The chocolate milk and cheese curds are amazing. Great place young and old

This place is great all the time. Bottomless cups of milk, tasty treats, pizza & burgers. It’s our favorite stop for a good time. We’ve enjoyed the Moo School your, the playground, or just dining in. Our toddler loves it as well. We recommend this to anyone in the area. You can also get gifts and cheeses to send to anyone in need. There gift selection is nice to boot.

We booked an impromptu trip trying to avoid the rainy weather (literally booked it 2 hours before we left) and it did not disappoint! Downside is that they really pack you in like sardines with no privacy which makes parking a trailer a little tricky when every spot besides yours is taken. 😅 The beach is absolutely beautiful and so close for walking. There are concessions (great food) and self-serve wood (a little pricey) and ice. All within walking distance. The playgrounds (3 of them) were fun for our 3 year old. Two of them are only metal slides with swings, but for a 3 year old that's enough. The third is closest to the beach and very modern and new looking. It was a great trip!

Pretty nice campground. Sites are a little smaller compared to other state parks. Sand, sand, and more sand. But it is the other side of a dune from the water. Our site was about 110 ft from water. Beach area had bathrooms and concession.

Beautiful park and beach. The quaint nature of Pentwater makes it more enjoyable than most Lake Michigan communities. Do yourself a favor and make a visit before summer ends. Expect to overpay for food, but it's well worth it as it makes for a priceless family event. We have made it an annual event.

Such a beautiful location. The most amazing bathroom and shower facilities. I booked my spot online. I was lucky to get something. Two things that stuck out to me... 1. Our fire pit was filled with other people's gross trash when we got to our site. It was.pouring raining and hot so we didn't plan to make a fire. The trash just sat there grossing us out the whole time. 2. If we had a fire, we would have lit.our neighbor's tent on fire. The spaces don't allow enough space for safe fires. Our tent was 5 feet from our pit. The neighbor's had a large tent and was only able to clear 3 feet from our pit. Also the neighbor's site became flooded in a storm.

Great sand, clean beach, great for kids, wonderful camping spot for 5th wheels and motor homes. Day parking fills up fast on weekends so go early. Pentwater is a cute small town.

Stopped here to watch the sunset(great views!), the beach is clean, relatively flat, and the parking lot is close so it’s more accessible for those who are handicapped and easier to bring stuff (chairs, umbrellas, etc.) for a longer beach day without having to carry everything a long way.

This is one of our family's favorite state parks. We love that it's close to the beach, just hop over a small sand dune. We love that we can bring our dog as there is a dog friendly part of the beach and we can get her a pup cup at Chuck's shack. There is a playground for the kids at the beach but mine usually just play in the sand. We like to walk the pier and sometimes my kids fish too. The state park doesn't have a lot of shandy camping spots but we managed to get one. The restrooms are clean as are the showers. There is only one slide and two swings by the restrooms for a playground but my kids meet other kids there and play.

Super nice quiet campground we went late August It's very quiet then. If you go in the middle of July there'll be a lot more people there's not a whole lot to do. But that just might be the ticket. Sit on the beach all day and relax.

What could be better than camping this close to the beach? My family and I have been camping here for 20 years and come back at least once every year. The little village of Pentwater, is a quick and easy walk to ice cream, shops, and boutique stores, with not a chain store in sight.

I love coming here to this park in our beautiful state of Michigan I've been coming up here to Pentwater ever since I was born in January 1979 plus I've even camped here when I a child in the early 80's I just love coming here love climbing old mount baldy trail up the steps and I remember when there was a time there was no steps I remember the original wooden steps walkway in the early years and the view from the deck was very clear you see the whole camp ground and beach and lake Michigan and now you can't see anything and same for top of the hill it was a lot higher back in the day after time goes by it gets different plus the view from top of hill was amazing back to 1980-2005 after that trees and vegetation grew over the years but still love coming to Charles mears state park and I remember back then when the park was full and had to wait for your camping spot to open and be ready you had to go park at red barn on way into town right near the boat launch up near US 31

Very nice beach with a designated dog area on the south side of the beach. Lots of room to spend out. Great concession stand! The restrooms were very clean.

One of our favorite parks! See the attached photos. As park with so many amenities. Changing rooms, food stand, ice bag sales, picnic tables, grills, lots of sand, long beach line, in the summer many boats go by making a scenic view, great place to fly kites, sidewalks, ...

The campground is located next the beach near the town of Pentwater. The location is beautiful and sandy with easy access from the paved road. They have internet but quite slowly due to the fact that many are connected. The spaces are a bit tight and it is not very easy to back up from the narrow alleys if you have a big rig. All campsites are equipped with electricity only. Bathrooms and showers are located in the buildings in several places. The one on the beach is directly from the campground.
