Apart from religious view, this is best place in Dharamanagor. You will get thrilled when you use the way to reach there. Full thrilling hill road. You will be amazed by zigzag road and green scenery. This place is really eye catch and have great impact on mind. This place and its rock monument is awesome. I really find hard to believe that how it was made, although there is so many myth about this but if you left all the myth and just try to see the inner beauty of the rock will amaze you. Perfect monument of elephant, human face, turtle, cow and so many more. It's easy guess that this taken place long long time to frame it. I will recommend every tourists to pay visit here and they will be fulfilled by wao things. One thing we went there on rainy season and day ling rain makes the place more awesome more green and more alive. Dry season grass and green might be little less or brown.

Please visit during after rainy season and start of winter. During October to December. In winter the green will reduce. Also road work in progress from Kailasahar to Unokoti now. Other way it is a historical place. Once in your life you should visit.

It is in the state of Tripura. Good ancient historical place to visit in Tripura state. Full masti, timepass for kids. But for old people this is not the best place as everyone must walk through several stairs which is not so much easy. Although Hindus Goddess are scrupulously made over the stone but other religious people may also visit this place . Unakoti Rock carvings were made at around 9 century AD by the local Chieftains of local Inhabitants. But there is no documented history of it. Whatever may be the origin adventure lover's will get a glimpse of history and taste of tracking at the same place. Winter and Monsoon are the best time to visit. Nearest Town is Kailashahar, just 9 Km away.

Unakoti is a mystical heritage site with rock carvings of different hindu deities. It is amazing to encounter these awe inspiring marvels. One has to walk a little up and down to explore these rock carvings. There is a little water stream as well. The surroundings are all natural, it is also a part of adjacent Eco Park, so you get to see some bio diversity as well. Entry is free. Cameras are not allowed. Enough parking space. There are little shops outside selling fruits etc.

Historical significance of this place cannot be denied. Huge rock carvings all over the hills are truly mesmerising. The road from Agartala has become straighter and shorter than before. Once the roadworks are completed it would take less than 4 hrs to reach Unakoti. Authorities could've put some more description boards about the carvings.

Unakothi known as Angkor Wat of the North-East. It is a sculptural emblem and ancient Shaivite place which hosts rock carvings figures and images of gods and goddesses. It is a place of worship with huge rock reliefs celebrating Shiva. Unakoti literally means "one less one crore" or "koti". It was put on the UNESCO world heritage site tentative list in 2022. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Shiva once spent a night here en route to Kashi. 99,99,999 gods and goddesses followed him. He had asked his followers to wake up before sunrise and make their way towards Kashi. Unfortunately, none awoke, except Lord Shiva himself. Before he set out for Kashi alone, he put a curse on the others, turning them to stone and that is how the site got its name. Unakothi is approximately 180 Km from Agartala. There are idols of lord shiva, lord Ganesh, lord, Chaturmukh ling, Godess Durga, Nandi, Lion, Tortoise etc. Visitors who come Tripura must visit Unakothi.

April 2022 Unakoti - One less than a crore; The Lost Hill Faces Closest towns with railhead are Kumarghat and Dharmanagar. There are daily express and passenger trains from Silchar and Agartala. The train travels through valley's and a number of long tunnels. The weather is cold during rains and in winters and really hot during summers. Unakoti, Kumarghat, Dharmanagar and surrounding areas are hilly with lots of pond and lakes and it had rained the previous evening. One of the reason why the place was extremely humid and hot. Unakoti Rock Carvings - The Lost Hill Faces, is equidistant from both Kumarghat and Dharmanagar yet cab charges more, when you reserve one from Dharmanagar. From Kumarghat the charges are INR 1500.00, the up and down journey takes 2 hours. Roads are being developed and the present one is mud road at most of the streches, expect a dusty drive/ride. Being a sacred place for the tribes of Tripura, there's no timing to visit Unakoti, however locals recommend to visit this place during the first half of the day. I started at 7:30 am and was back in the hotel by 11 am. There's a small parking ground near the entrance with a shop selling snacks, bottled water and other aerated drinks. Tourist will have to register at the entry gate of forest department. Wear comfortable clothes and shoe when visiting this place and do carry plenty of water. There are more than 1000+ steps to climb to see the stone carvings and don't expect to see 'one less than a crore ' stone sculptures and carvings. Most of them are scattered on the hill with thick forest with no access. It will take 1-2 hours to explore the place. According to the folklore, shiva and other goods, total 1 crore in numbers were travelling to Kashi. Night fell and they decided to rest at this place. Shiva asked other gods to wake up and start early however no one awake when he was ready to go to Kashi, all were sound asleep, this Shiva angry and he cursed that all of them to turn into rocks. Thus the name, Unakoti - One less for a crore.

You should never miss this place if you are in Tripura. This is one of the real marvels of India created by our ancestors for some special purpose. The large 30 feet stone carved faces of lord shiva are main attraction here but the waterfall and jungle are a must visit thing. So, don’t forget to go deep into the forest as this is the main part of this place.

Local tribals believe that the maker of these idols was Kallu Kumhar. He was a devotee of Parvati and wanted to accompany #Shiva #Parvati to their abode on Mount Kailash. On Parvati's insistence, Shiva agreed to take Kallu to #Kailash, but for this a condition was kept that he would have to make one crore idols of Shiva in one night. Kallu got involved in this work like a man of his tune. But when dawn broke, the idols turned out to be one less than one crore. Nothing special as it is over hyped.....simply rock cut images as shown in any local magazine or newspaper are there...no extra special attraction is there. Yes...it's a historical place but nothing extraordinary to spend time. Hardly 1-2 hrs is enough to explore the place. Besides there are no public transport to travel in that area and also no shop or hotel or restaurant or guestroom is there for refreshment. Hardly 3/4 shops are there where there soft drinks, coconut, chips etc are available. Even there are no proper street light in the jungle road of unokoti.

Beautiful place to visit. Sculpture of gods are created on the rocks looks more attractive. Nice and cooperative staff. When we reached there were raining. Its good to spent some time there. Some small shops present outside and near the gate where you can get some foods and drinks. No any stay hotel present nearby.

It is a beautiful place for people to see and learn about history from. Their are several rock carvings and hundreds of steps which amazes tourists. But the sad fact is that the entrance of such a wonderful heritage site is not kept clean and thousands of plastics and rubbish are seen.

Unakoti, literally meaning, one less a koti in Bengali( One less than a crore ) , hosts an ancient Shivite place of worship with huge rock reliefs celebrating Shiva. It is Shiva pilgrimage and dates back to 7th – 9th centuries if not earlier. It is the prime tourist spot of Unakoti Tripura District in the Kailashahar Subdivision in the North-eastern Indian state of Tripura. Unakoti lies 178 km to the northeast from Agartala which has the closest airport, 8 km to the east from Kailashahar, district headquarters of Unakoti district, 148 km to the south-east from Silchar. The nearest railway station is about 20 km away at Kumarghat on the Guwahati-Agartala line. Every year a big fair popularly known as Ashokastami Mela is held in the month of April which is visited by thousands of pilgrims. Another smaller festival takes place in January. Apart from that tourists also flock to see this marvel of nature almost every other day from different parts of the country.

The story and the place has it vibe. The rocks craving are natural as per story or is it man-made is what the confusion is but the place need maintainance since it holds history. The place has enough places with temple at tops. You don't need to pay and visiting fees but loitering or plastic is strictly prohibited. There is one shop inside so you can get water, some snacks and food. Worth one time visit atleast.

It's a world renowned place. Stone carving is unique. It's 150 kms away from Agartala. Route via Khowai market is under construction yet this way is better to reach there through NH 208. It's situated at remote location so rooms and hotels are unavailable. Small stalls for snacks are available. It's entry is free,But very high and low stairs so person having knee issues have to compromise .carving are magnificent and very attractive.

People who like treking can enjoy seeing many idols of gods like Siva,vinayagar,..weather was very pleasant .But route from agartala to unakoti was not good.

Unakoti is a UNESCO world Heritage Site and the it is best for trekking. The visit was awesome and I got to know various historical tales about the carvings.

I have visited many museums in India but this is one of the best. I would recommend visiting the museum inside the palace. You will learn about North eastern tribal community culture, tradition, history, artifacts, struggle etc completely.

One of the most iconic places in Agartala. You'll fall in love with this. The majestic royal palace of Agartala. It has turned to a museum of the royal history of Tripura and North East India. Photography is prohibited inside the building, thus, only photos of the outside is here. The museum is huge. It consists each and everything of Tripura, starting from the communities live here, the religious sites, archaeological sites, mountain, tea gardens, floras and faunas. You'll need at least 2 hours to complete the whole museum.

I went there with my friend. It was a beautiful place to spend your afternoon peacefully. Here you can find the left over of the king of Tripura. You can find many things of the past . It was awesome. The culture of the whole tripura is described inside with Scriptures and photos. But you can't take photos inside the museum. Everything is good there except prohibiting clicking photos. I recommend you to go there with your partner or friend, you'll really love it . ♥️

Beautiful and serene. They don't give permission to take photos, but the outer side of the Museum door has a beautiful design and view. It's a shame I can't see that whenever I walk down through memory land as I go through albums.

Iconic place should be a must visit place in Agartala, Tripura. If you are interested in History then go for the Light and sound show it starts at 6.30 PM in the evening. You will get to learn a lot about the history of the Manikya ruling dynasty of Tripura.

The palace is built by Maharaja Manikya in 1899. It was the royal residence until Tripura's merger with India in October 1949. It's on the banks of two lakes, one on either side. The doors and entrance are wonderfully carved. The entry ticket is ₹40. You need to show your ID.

I'll always have a soft spot for this zoo. Used to come regularly in the 90's & early 2000's. And while the enclosures and the overall hygiene has improved, the wildlife variety has reduced. Separate primate area is an improvement but as mentioned lesser variety. Hoolock gibbons are a bigger attraction than the famed clouded leopards. So, more of them would be nice. Sad to see that many of the species don't have partners. The old boating area & the island (near the rest house) are no longer properly accessible. Make it available to the public (atleast families) but hike the fees. It will be self-sustaining & at the same time keep the attendance manageable. As always, lots of potential here but.. but...

It's good but they should maintain the cleanliness more better. It'll be better to visit in gloomy weather or winter as you've to walk a lot. Wear flats not heels, carry water bottle. It's a good place to be with nature. There's gues house, botany garden, boating area, etc. You can visit.

Very much worth visiting. Come with a couple of water bottles as it may take more than 2-3 hours to see everything properly. If possible bring a camera as phone's camera will not be good enough to click pictures due to the required zoom-in's and also safety nets.

Other than the cleanliness and the minimal amount of helpers, good to go. I have seen a few wild cats which I've not seen in any other zoo. It's kinda long walk. Suit urself with eateries. Else, it's tiresome. Have urself hydrated. It's worth the walk.

The best place to explore wildlife in Tripura. It has a zoo with many animals, main attractions are Hulok Gibbon, Rock Python, Hippocampus, clouded leopard etc. It also has a separate boating area in Amrit Sagar lake. One must enjoy the boating there.

The place is good. They should have a proper map for navigation of visitors... They can provide this as pamplet at the ticket counter before entering the Zoological park... - Entry fee for Clouded Leopard National park: Rs 20/head. Extra fee for entry of vehicles. - Entry fee for the Zoological park: Rs 20/head. Food items are not allowed inside.

The current scenery of Sepahijala Sanctuary has been changed a lot under supervision of new energetic and passionate Director of Wildlife and Director of Zoo , Mr Biswajit Das . We spent quality time there and also took part in routine health camp for the workers of Zoo and Wildlife.

It's a family-friendly destination for exploration, although the wildlife isn't particularly engaging to observe, with many unfortunate instances of deceased animals. Despite the cleanliness of the area, the pervasive odor, likely due to the presence of animals, is undeniable. Nevertheless, it's a nature-friendly retreat away from urban life, offering ample opportunities to immerse oneself in the beauty of the surroundings and capture stunning photographs. In essence, it's a highly photogenic locale worth experiencing.

The Zoological Park is small but the inhabitants are lively and exciting. There is battery operated vehicle for going around inside the zoo. But the paths are narrow even for such small vehicles.

One of the worst experience i ever had in my entire life visiting a wildlife sanctuary. Visited the place 8th April 2023, i don't know what or why but entire thing is having renovation or maintenance stuffs, not a single drop of drinking water or tape water is available. Even so not even a toilet facilities are available, if so available the toilet are so poor & dirty and also no water available. The wildlife Sanctuary is massive it will took near about 2hrs to complete. Even during the heat summer days there is not a single cafetteria available inside the sanctuary only a single canteen available (Appayan) outside the sanctuary & also u have search for it no proper communication is available for that too. I have one simple question too the authorities if maintenance is going on then you should have kept close for the visitors, but instead they are charging Rs 20/- per head & for car charging Rs 50/- only to get inside the forest reserve gate and after that Rs 20/- per head to get inside the sanctuary & again car parking Rs 50/- . Now coming to the wildlife there is not many animals or birds are available many are empty & renovation is going, which comes to one point why have you kept open. Now my overall experience is very poor , toilets are dirty no water, no tape water or drinking water is available inside the sanctuary, i feel it's expensive with how much effort we make to reach and the output is zero.

We 4 had one scooty one bike The parking fee entry fee has taken 220 rs all together Charges for parking entry even in 1st entry sepaihijala wildlife sanctuary there is nothing to see and sepaihijala zoological park something is good to see but parking fee very much takes a lot of charge takes 30 rs per person for 2 wheeler

Very nice place for morning or evening walk. You can spend time with your friends and family also. You can also see all important tourist places of Tripura using beautiful artwork.

If you feel like relaxing yourself for sometime by staying away from crowd and people of the Agartala city, then Heritage Park is the right place. It is filled with greenery surroundings and picturesque places for mind satisfaction. A must visit place for anyone !

This is a miniature form of every sightseeing of Tripura including the main railway stations connecting the state. The 1.1 km pathway leads you to the main attractions (From Assam to Bangladesh border) of this beautiful state. In my opinion this is a must visit part of Tripura as you're getting a bowl full of scenic beauty and heritage provided by the state (but in a 'CHOTU' version 😉)

A refreshing park inside the city for a quick walk. It also has models of the tourist attractions of Tripura along with the rail route model of the state, which is nice. The park is very well maintained and clean. Entry : ₹10 per person

The heritage park located in Agartala city showcases the history, heritage and nature of the state of Tripura in miniature form. If you take a tour of this park, all the important rivers, rivers, mountains, bridges, railways and sightseeing places of the entire state of Tripura can be seen like replicas in small form. This is a great idea and a wonderful initiative. The park is also being constructed and maintained with great care. The entire park and its every corner is litter free, clean and tidy.

Views are good... Good for photography, morning or evening walk, casual hangout with friends or family. The miniature of tourist places of Tripura are built in this park & I like this concept.

A historical temple built by The ruler of tripura as it was their "Kuladevata".Nothing much to see apart from the temples.Thus place comes to life during the annual mela which draws people from various parts of the country.A pond is there adjacent to the Temple premises which is currently very dirty.Animal sacrifice is still carried on as traditional offering to the goddess kali.

"Chaturdash Devta Temple, Khayerpur, West Tripura" Chaturdasha Temple is a Hindu temple situated near Old Agartala, Tripura, India. It was a great unique architectural, artistic beauty of rich culture. This temple was built in honour of fourteen deities, together called the Chaturdasha Devata, by King Krishna Manikya Debbarma of Tripura in 1761 and these deities are ceremoniously worshipped during Kharchi Puja. he Kokborok names of the fourteen deities are Lampra, Akhatra, Bikhatra, Burasa, Thumnairok, Bonirok, Sangroma, Mwtaikotor, Twima, Songram, Noksumwtai, Mailuma, Khuluma, and Swkalmwtai. Beautiful, serene and believed by many to be place "jagroto debota" (god who is alive). Must visit. Important: visit early in the morning if you want to see the daily puja or make offerings.

Temple dedicated to Fourteen Gods namely Hara, Uma, Hari, Ma, Bani, Kumar, , Ganapa, Bidhi, Kha, Obdhi, Ganga, Sikhi, Kam, Himadri. Temple is in Khayerpur and worship takes place everyday 10.30am onwards. There is also Bura Maa Mandir and Nabagraha Temple. A small museum namely "Haveli Museum" is situated opposite to the temple entrance.

Exceptional structure. Here 14 gods and goddesses are reside. But you can only see them on a particular time of the year. Otherwise you can only see 3 gods and goddesses throughout the year.

Very peaceful place with large pond. Development work is on..... nearby govt museum is must see place..... some 15km from Agartala city on Guwahati-Agartala Highway. Near the sacred 14 goddess temple during the month of July every year a Kharchi festival is organised and thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit this festival. It is a local saying that one who visits Tripura Fourteen Goddess Temple once comes in Agartala fourteen times more.

It was a great unique architectural artistic beauty of rich culture...but one thing gave me too much pain when I visited the temple during the kharchi puja festival alongside the kharchi mela week...all the things were going so good & the atmosphere was also nice & fresh but when we went on to see the fourteen gods' heads covered up with pure gold & one with silver,I was overwhelmed...but just after some few moments,,my eyes got down to something cruel spine chilling scene...there were severed heads of approximately 15 goats...I became so sad after that thing that my whole experience of this festival became a nightmare...This so called 'Bali' system during worships in our culture needs to be taken down as soon as possible...please spread this message if you have kind views for the poor animals....This is not a hate speech just a request to all to stop these orthodox beliefs which neither enriches our culture nor wants any good of us & our surroundings....
