The Lalbagh Palace is a magnificent historical place museum in Indore, India. This palace was built during the Holkar Dynasty and features beautiful architecture of different styles including baroque, rococo and neoclassical. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indore and is well worth a visit for anyone interested in history or architecture.
The palace is so beautiful.
The marbles and the tiles used inside are one of the best I have ever seen. The palace will give you a feel and journey of how king and queen must have lived and what their days must have been like !
From their grand Dining area to their grand dressing rooms. Everything is elegant.
Photography isn't allowed inside, as they take your phone and store it with them.
But it is definitely a must visit when in indore.

It's a great palace with very unique European Style architecture not commonly seen in Indian monuments. Entry fee is Rs 20 and adequate parking facility is available. The only disappointment was that more then half the palace was not open to public. More rooms could be opened for visitors.

An exquisite palace that stands out in its uniqueness and beauty! A must-see attraction in Indore, it exudes a royal ambiance that leaves a lasting impression. The palace's grand scale is impressive, and its impeccable upkeep adds to the allure. Notably, it's wheelchair-friendly, catering to all visitors. The palace's architecture is refreshingly distinctive compared to the norm, setting it apart from other destinations. Informative details grace every room, enhancing the exploration. While the ground floor welcomes all, the upper levels remain off-limits, likely for maintenance purposes. The presence of facilities like washrooms is convenient. The expansive garden surrounding the palace provides a delightful setting for leisurely walks and strolls amidst the enchanting trees.
Gaurav More — Google review
When we went, the palace was being repaired. There are many combined ancient and modern artifacts there, and it is well done. The palace has excellent maintenance. Its exquisite architecture transports you to an earlier time. We just stayed on the ground floor because the stairs are being repaired. The price of the ticket is affordable. One issue was that although there is a large lawn close to the palace, it doesn't appear to have been well-kept. I highly recommend visiting this palace.

Renovation work of the royal palace is underway. Photography is prohibited.Mobiles and other cameras will be deposited at the time of entering the palace. There are two floors open for visiting.
There is a park next to and behind the royal palace, where there are benches for sitting. A place to visit with family.

No photography allowed inside, I've no idea why!! I visit a place after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures.
Anyway, there is really nothing much to see here. Development work is going on, several chambers are not open to the general public, and the general upkeep in the surroundings is not very good. There are huge open spaces which could have been converted into gardens, to welcome more people.
The staff are also not very hospitable, they aren't exactly rude, but they aren't helpful either, which leaves a bad taste!!

Good old palace for a quick trip. No much special things to see such as other major Palaces around India. Its ok if you take a quick trip. Costs Rs 20 per pax as entry. Do not expect any kind of gardens or parks inside. Majority of the landscape is not maintained well.

A lovely palace in the mid of Indore City. Can visit with family and friends. Couple friendly. Minimum parking charges. Right now renovation work is going on. But can visit lower portion of the palace.Majestic royal residence, rich history, and intricate architecture. A must-visit for culture aficionados despite occasional maintenance concerns.
jyoti dutta — Google review
This is a grand spectacular heritage building, once residence of Maratha Rulers of Holker Dynasty. Unfortunately, it is probably one of the least visited tourist places in Indore because of lack of awareness.
I, along with my wife, were awestruck to see the grandeur of this palace with its beautiful plaster artwork on ceilings, stained glass windows, reliefs, wall paintings, classical furniture and its architecture.
It was heartening to see that this historical palace is presently being restored to its old glory. When we visited the palace in mid Feb, 2024, only the ground floor was accessible to the visitors, and the first floor remains under restoration.
The Palace is surrounded by large garden, which needs better maintenance. I presume the same should also be forming part of restoration work.
A visit to this lesser known place in Indore is highly recommended by me.
Arun Gupta — Google review
This was the Palace where the last Dynasty of Highness used to stay may be temporarily or permanently. The entire property is really huge, however only a small proportion of it is accessible. The ticket fare is minimal, phone or camera is not allowed inside and it would take a maximum of around 30-40 minutes to complete the entire tour. However, I was very disappointed as the place was very badly managed, most of the paint had faded away, the building was falling apart, the antiques in the Museum were completely degraded (apart from wooden antiques), and the staff wasn't proactive as well. You can visit here but there are chances of disappointment.
Tushar Singh — Google review
This place!!!! It is such a beautiful palace. Every room, every corner has a story. Some parts are built like French style, some Victorian style, and some Mughal Style. And every design, art piece, and furniture will take you back to that era. Loved my time wandering here
Astha Khimesara — Google review
It's a great palace with very unique European Style architecture not commonly seen in Indian monuments. Entry fee is Rs 20. Renovation work of the royal palace is underway.
Spread over 76 acres of property, the construction of the 45-room palace happened in three phases. Starting with Tukojirao Holkar II in 1886, who acquired this property and was completed under his grandson, Tukojirao Holkar III in 1926. It is built in the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture style[1] and once had a 20-acre rose garden, while its main gates are modelled after those at the Buckingham Palace, by Triggs of Calcutta.
After the death of Tukojirao Holkar III in 1978, his third wife, an American, Sharmishtha Devi (formerly Nancy Anne Miller) moved out and subsequently, the palace was converted into a museum. Much of the first floor was destroyed in a fire. In the 1980s, the palace fell into disrepair and was prone to theft of its antiques before the state government acquired the property in 1987.

I recommend visiting and experiencing it first hand.
The palace was under repairs when we visited. It is beautifully done and you can see lots of mixed objects there (historical and modern). The staircases to visit other floors were under repair, hence stayed only on the ground floor. The entry ticket is cost effective and do bring your own water bottle and food etc... If you are planning to spend more time in the garden(big).
Sameer Saxena — Google review
The palace gives a glimpse of foreign art. All the rooms look beautiful! Half an hour would be enough to visit this palace as of now. There is a garden outside with a sitting arrangement, though it needs renovation. Then this place would be good to spend some time in the evening.
The management is not that good I would say. Not sure if it's because some work is in progress. The arrows pointing towards the next place to go(as in the image) along the path are not clearly in the area of vision and could be informative. If you miss and go out, the staff will not allow you to enter again, even if you present the ticket bought.

It is one time visit place.
Entry Ticket price is Rs 20 per person for Indians.
Only Ground floor is open for visitors.
First floor is currently under renovation.
Place is a delight to eyes. The outer building is painted in all white.
At entrance, we have several rooms and then a large hall, which have marbles with beautiful designs.
People are not allowed to go inside rooms but have to look what is inside the room from the entry point of room.
It has rooms which were used for dining hall, reading hall, office, library etc.
It takes 45 min to 1 hour to cover this place as tourist point.

The palace is maintained very well. It has beautiful architecture which takes you back in time. The paintings on the ceilings are gorgeous! I visited couple of weeks ago and only the ground floor was open for visitors - seems that restoration was on-going on upper floors. I would have definitely liked to spend more time here.
The only negative was that there is a huge garden next to the palace but it didn't seem to have been maintained well. Except that, I will definitely recommend a visit to this place.

One may find it hard to find the plaster or brickwork cause every inch of the interior is ornamented with glass. Since it is a Jain temple, it is open to tourists(other religions) after 10:30 am. There are uncountable murals on the walls depicting stories and mythology of deities. The staff here come forward to help tourists know the history and the meaning of murals. On the first floor, there's a meditation space and three idols of Mahaveer when if seen from sideways will appear 24 times in the mirror placed on both sides of the closed encampment.

The temple is built like a palace from the outside but the inner walls, ceiling, floor, pillars and doors of the temple are all made of glass and cut glass chandeliers. The main idols of Lord Mahavir situated in the temple are decorated with black onyx and multicolored.

This temple is a marvel and I don't know why it is not popular, it's a gem and even the floor here is made of glass which came all over from Belgium and this temple is like 200 years old, and still in a superb condition, and entry is free, I think they should charge atleast 10 rs, so that it can go for maintenance, but a must visit if you are in Indore.

Situated in very crowded area which cloth Market. It was a personal temple which has been built by Seth hukum chand . It is completely made by use of glass piece only. Parking issue is there. So suggest to park the vehicle near by govt parking space only and come by walk or tuktuk(small battery operated auto).
Must visit place . Well maintained. It is having 2 floor where only ground floor is accessible for general people

Beautiful Jain Mandir in Indore, built in 1903 by Seth Hukumchanda Jain a lot of Jain religious functions are held here. Building did not look massive but pasted colorful glass pieces gave it extraordinary beautiful look. Photography was not allowed inside hence we took photo in front of the Mandir. Idol of Lord Mahavir was impressive & multiple reflections on glass looked amazing. Ambience inside the temple was really peaceful. A good place to visit while in Indore.

As the name suggests, Kanch Mandir is a Jain temple made entirely out of glass and mirrors. It is unlike any other tourist attraction you will find in Indore. An actual place of worship for the Jains, the Kanch Mandir is hailed for its exquisitely designed walls, ceilings, floors, pillars, and doors - all of which are made of glass.
The Chinese glass lamps and cut glass chandeliers are simply alluring. Don't forget to check out the idol of Lord Mahavira made of black onyx and decorated with multicolored glass beads. With 50 glass murals depicting the various stories of Jainism, this temple is an absolute must-visit, just for its sheer beauty.

The place is actually the Jain temple. Small place and even the flooring is made up of glasses. Online the timing is shown 10 am -05pm but they don't open until 11am. It is recommended to visit the place after 11:30 am only. A good place to visit once. There is no ticket but photography is not allowed inside.

Completely made with glass from floor to ceiling, walls, Jain mandir, it takes around half an hour or 45 min to see this place but you can walk around the old busy streets

Sparkling Brilliance: The very essence of the temple lies in its extensive use of colored glass. The walls, ceilings, and pillars shimmer with mosaics, depicting religious scenes, floral patterns, and geometric designs. Light dancing off the glass creates a kaleidoscopic effect, leaving visitors awestruck by its sheer beauty.
Beyond the Bling: While the glass might be the first to grab attention, the temple's architectural details are equally impressive. Exquisite marble carvings, intricate stonework, and delicately painted ceilings blend seamlessly with the glass, showcasing masterful craftsmanship.
Serene Sanctuary: Despite its opulence, Kanch Mandir exudes a sense of calmness. The soft glow of the glass, the chanting of hymns, and the gentle murmur of fountains create a peaceful atmosphere perfect for introspection and prayer.
Spiritual Gems: Dedicated to Jainism, the temple houses several holy statues, including a magnificent black onyx idol of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara. Smaller shrines dedicated to other Jain figures offer additional spaces for reverence.

Marvellous Jain temple. People who write negative reviews might not have understood in first place that it's a religious place and not a tourist place. We had nice experience and no bad behaviour from staff side. It's a wonderful place.
Excellent serene place to visit, very well maintained neat and clean campus. Easy darshan facility but on Wednesdays and weekends , this becomes a little difficult. may please be taken care by the trust.

Though this place is well maintained and preserved the glass work all accross floor to ceiling..But there is virtually no space to sit and remove shoes, socks as they insist ।।
Very practical trouble to ladies, elderly and children..to put off their foot wear and again wear them.. without proper sitting or support..
Hope manager, trustee..pays attention to this fact..

A simple jain temple, not a tourist place. Websites shouldn't suggest this temple as a tourist attraction. I had one complaint, Jain temples are a open minded and peaceful space, restricting photography does not make sense. This isn't a hindu temple, such rules shouldn't apply to a Jain temple.

If you talk about Indore city…
One of its most iconic landmarks is the Rajwada Palace, a magnificent structure that stands as a testament to the city’s royal past.
The Rajwada Palace, also known as Holkar Palace, was built by the Holkar dynasty rulers in the 18th century.
The exterior of the palace is adorned with intricately carved wooden balconies, lattice work, and ornate arches. The seven-story structure stands tall, with each level representing a different architectural style. The lower floors are made of stone, while the upper floors are built with wood.
The palace also houses a museum that showcases artifacts, paintings, and sculptures from the Holkar era. Visitors can explore the royal costumes, weapons, and vintage photographs that provide insights into the lives of the erstwhile rulers.
Most important-
The Rajwada Palace is not just a historical monument; it is a living heritage. It hosts cultural events, music concerts, and exhibitions, keeping the legacy alive.
The surrounding gardens and courtyards offer a peaceful retreat, where visitors can relax and soak in the regal ambiance.

Lord Ganesh's adorned presence adds to the spiritual ambiance. The well-maintained premises enhance the experience. Attending the aarti is a soul-stirring ritual with rhythmic chants and melodic bells. Beyond a religious site, it's a spiritual haven in the bustling city, offering tranquility and fulfillment. Another important temple to visit in the holy town of Dewas, if you're here to pay obeisance at the Maa Chamunda Devi mandir. Kaila Devi mandir is located just 15-20 minutes away from the former.
Apart from Rajasthan's Kaila Devi who's the presiding deity, there are numerous other temples located to other divinities.

Religious place, situated in the heart of Dewas city(M.P.) 200meter away from Indore Bhopal road. It is a bunch of temples. One bholenath temple, another isKaila devi mata temple, one vaishnodevi temple is also there with caves aroud it. A very big statue of bajrangbali is also there. Clean and calm place. Jai Mata Di. Kaila Devi temple is a major Piligrimage site and tourist attraction in Dewas city. During the time of both Navaratris various activities like Bhagwat Ji and Kathas were organised by the trust run by the temple association. Once upon a time a great fair was organised here but after sometime that was stopped. Jyortirlinga Mahadev temple, Maa Vaishno Devi Cave, Maa Durga Statue (41 feet), Shri Hanuman Ji Statue (51 feet), and Maa Kaila Devi temple are the major attraction of this place.

Beautiful temple to visit in Dewas... A peaceful place to visit. You can hangout with kids during evening time... The surroundings of temple have been best to worship.. There is huge statue of Bajrang Bali and Devi Maa.. Also there are small small gardens inside, sitting arrangements.. There is parking area as well.

the main temple of kaila devi is in Kuroli Rajasthan but this temple has equal importance in mythology !! devi herself requested his devotee that she want to come to dewas !! It has a great stroy behind it !!
We visited the temple around 11am and it was too hot in dewas ! we visited the place after after chamunda tekri and their was no crowd ! the darshans of devi is first kaila devi in saffron colour than Idol of devi durga in middle and third i dont remember !!
Their is a huge Idol of Hanuman ji and Durga devi ! also their is a shiva temple !!
Great Darshans

One mistake I made earlier is to try walking.
It is not that you can't walk that long. Its this beautiful animals come and go within short time so you better have bit more mobility to get glimpse of them.
Its better to rent a cycle which is best experience to ride this in this nice road or get pass for your vehicle
I think Best time is before evening 4 to 5pm. Usually during this time animals like tiger return from ally to their keepouts and you may better chance to have glimpse of these animals.

The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya on the Shyamla Hills in Bhopal is one of the best museums in India and features a comprehensive story of man's evolution and cultural history. Spanning over 200 acres, it exhibits contemporary tribal cultures as well as dwellings from around Indian states, all in an unique manner.
A place worth visiting. Widely spread area around 2kms showing various Indian tribe culture. To fully explore you will need at least 2-3 hrs. We must promote it and people must visit it once to enhance knowledge of Indian culture.

A great place for exploration purpose. It is one of the finest museums and the only open museum in India. The place is filled with natural beauty and surrounded by forest. It is in secluded area which causes network troubles. For someone, who enjoys getaways, this museum is a must visit. They have preserved so many cultures from various states and places in a magnificent way. I visited the place for volunteering duty at one private event, we enjoyed as a group of people gathered for spiritual and health wellness getaway session. The place is very calm and soothing.

"Museum of Man" - It's one of the go-to places in Bhopal for tourists as well as the locals and I've also been to this place multiple times since my childhood.
This is full of Anthropology and you will get everything here related to the origin of Human beings starting from the very 1st man on the earth. This also has a few areas dedicated to some of the specific tribes/peoples and the way they used to live initially with limited resources.
Overall a nice place with 2 gates , one on the Shyamla hills and the other on the Lower Lake.

The IGRMS is a anthropological museum that preserves links and research ideas about the origin and social relationship of human beings long ago. The entire museum is spread over an area of 200 acres of land and is very huge. The museum is close to the famous Demonstration Multipurpose School in Bhopal and also near the Upper Lake. So we accessed it through t he lake view road. The time I visited was during the ongoing open exhibitions in the museum. I went round the museum and also learned that the museum holds different types of exhibitions throughout the year. Indoor galleries, special exhibitions, periodic and temporary exhibitions, traveling and online exhibitions are few of them.
The museum is very close to the Upper Lake, and therefore it attracts large number of visitors daily. It also contains a rich variety of ancient resources collected from every nook and corner of India. The museum has a large library where I found few of the best compilations that represented the history and evolution of the country. There is an indoor museum which depicts the life style of the people who lived long ago. From the collection of weapons they used food, utensils and clothes they wore, everything is preserved in the museum. There is also the dummy structure of the kinds of houses the ancient human beings used to live.
The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya is located on the Shamla Hills in Bhopal. So the view from the hill top to the entire city was picturesque. The lake also provides a good recreational area where I sat for a long time before returning back for the day.
As traveling is what I do whenever I get some free time, I was truly impressed by the information I have gained from the museum visit. I was truly happy that I made a good decision to bend my interest toward visiting one of the ancestral monuments of India.

This is truly a MUST VISIT in Bhopal, I loved every bit of it. Hats-off to the creativity and the hard work that has put in to make this place Most beautiful and amazing.
Wow doesn't sum up for the beauty it offers to the visitors to see and add into their memories. Starting from the entrance until the shopping area that is in the exit everything is marvelous, the wood, handicrafts, the bamboo, the clay arts. I decided not to use my phone while walking through each halls on both the floors as i wanted to enjoy every art. I just could not close my eyes looking at them, it gives chills, spooky vibes, positivity and the happiness. So I took another ticket to capture some of beauty.
I had a snack and coffee in the restaurant, it was very tasty. The shopping outlet has some amazing handmade painting that one can buy as souvenir. Overall, it is an incredible place that one must visit as they love it for sure like I did.

If you are a museum person then you should visit this museum without even a second thought. The Museum is located in the hill area, the ticket is 40₹ and 100₹ additional for cameras. Even for mobile photography, they do charge which I found very odd.
To explore the museum you at least require an hour or so. The artwork inside the museum is extraordinary and marvellous. Some of the artworks are kind of tedious to understand and will blow your mind.
The tribal part is also taken care of very beautifully, I almost liked every part of the museum which was very different from than rest of the museums I have ever visited.

The Taj-Ul-Masajid is an imposing 19th century red-stone mosque that features finely carved pillars and arches. The white domes atop the minarets are a striking feature of this beautiful mosque, which remains one of the largest Mosques in India today. The exterior is a soothing pink color and it is powered by two domes.
Taj-Ul-Masajid, the grandest Mosque in Bhopal, The Grandest Mosque in Madhya Pradesh even you can say the Grandest Mosque in India. This beautiful Masjid stand in the middle or you can say the heart of Bhopal city, the area which this Masjid takes is too huge, around 80000 people can perform Namaz here together. The architecture of Taj Ul Masjid is somewhat like mughal Era, the very interior part of Taj ul Masjid will remind you Jama Masjid of Delhi and Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri.
It has 4 gates to enter inside the Mosque premise there is ample space for parking two wheelers and four wheelers and have a canteen which offer snacks at a reasonable price. The Masjid has four pounds calling Hauz one is the biggest Hauz where Namazi do Wazoo and other 3 reserved for children residing in Madarsa for their personal use.

Taj-ul-Masajid, located in Bhopal, India, is one of the most magnificent and iconic mosques in the country. Its name translates to "Crown of Mosques," and rightfully so, as its grandeur and architectural splendor make it a crown jewel of Islamic architecture in India.
Construction of Taj-ul-Masajid began in the 19th century during the reign of Sultan Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal, but it was later halted due to lack of funds. It was not until the 1970s that efforts were resumed, and the mosque was finally completed in 1985. The mosque's design is a harmonious blend of Mughal and Islamic architectural styles, featuring imposing domes, towering minarets, intricate marble carvings, and ornate calligraphy.
The main prayer hall of Taj-ul-Masajid is awe-inspiring, with a vast central courtyard capable of accommodating thousands of worshippers during prayers. The prayer hall is adorned with exquisite marble flooring, intricately carved pillars, and beautifully crafted mihrabs (prayer niches) that point towards the direction of Mecca.
The mosque's exterior is equally breathtaking, with its imposing facade adorned with intricately carved arches, domes, and minarets rising majestically into the sky. The central dome, in particular, is a sight to behold, with its elegant silhouette and intricate detailing.
Taj-ul-Masajid not only serves as a place of worship but also as a cultural and educational center for the Muslim community in Bhopal. It hosts religious lectures, Quranic studies, and other educational programs aimed at promoting Islamic knowledge and values.
Beyond its religious significance, Taj-ul-Masajid is also a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world who come to admire its architectural beauty and learn about its rich history. The mosque's serene atmosphere and stunning architecture make it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bhopal, offering a glimpse into India's rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Beautiful mosque. Very massive beautiful carvings and colors. Very peaceful at the same time. The tree inside in the compound is pretty too.

The Taj-ul-Masjid largely takes inspiration from Mughal architecture. The mosque has a pink facade topped by two 18-storey high octagonal minarets with marble domes, an impressive main hallway with attractive pillars, and marble flooring resembling the likes of Jama Masjid in Delhi and the Badshahi Mosque of Lahore. It has a courtyard with a large ablution tank in the centre.
THE MOSQUE ALSO FEATURES A ZENANA(women's gallery ) RARE GIVEN THAT PRAYER FROM HOME WAS THE NORM FOR WOMEN AT THE TIME OF THE MOSQUE'S CONSTRUCTION.
The structure is constructed in the midst of three water bodies, namely: Munshi Hussain Talab; Noor Mahal Talab; and Motia Talab.

I was fascinated by the beauty of Taj-ul-Masjid even though I could only see the outer structure. The white marble exterior was stunning, and the intricate carvings were truly awe-inspiring. I could tell that a lot of time and effort had gone into building this mosque, and it was clear that it was a place of great importance to the Muslim community.
I was also impressed by the sense of peace and tranquility that I felt when I was standing in front of the mosque. Even though it was locked, I could feel the energy of the place. It was a reminder that even though we may have different religions, we can all come together to appreciate beauty and peace.
I would love to visit Taj-ul-Masjid again one day and be able to go inside. I am sure that it would be an even more incredible experience.
Here are some thoughts I had while visiting Taj-ul-Masjid from the outside:
I was amazed by the beauty of the mosque. The white marble was so pristine and the carvings were so intricate.
I hope to visit Taj-ul-Masjid again one day and be able to go inside. I am sure that it would be an even more incredible experience.

The Bhimbetka rock shelters are a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Bhopal. Primitive human inhabitants approximately 100,000 years ago used these rock shelters for household and hunting scenes, as evident from the paintings on their walls. Surrounded by a forest, only around 14-15 of these rock shelters are open for public viewing. Visitors can follow designated trails to explore the area and witness the historical significance of the ancient paintings made by primitive men that still exist in these rock shelters.
I visited here with my batch mates in the month of April.
Mid day heat was very much.
But inside the Rocky shelters it was cool..
It is amazing to see the massive size of the rocks.
Ancient Prehistoric men of India stayed here nearly 100000 years ago.
They painted the walls of these rocks with Animals like wild boar, elephants, Tigers, horses, birds, deers etc.
There are hunting scenes, food gathering, dancing activities clearly depicted.
It shows how they are managing their daily activities.
Some paintings are from Paleolithic and some are from Mesolithic age.
Also hand tools made of Stones, rocks were discovered from these Caves.
As an Indian I feel proud to witness the development of human culture in our countryq back from stone ages.
Visit this place in morning time with families and friends.

Over 750 rock shelters r distributed here over 10 km but u can witness few of them. Proper boards n informations places allover here for tourist.
The earliest traces of human life in India r present here. its an archaeological site of the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods, as well as the historic period.
These cave paintings show themes such as animals, early evidence of dance and hunting from the Stone Age as well as of warriors on horseback.
u must carry enough food n water with u while visiting here as not much options available here. be a responsible citizen n don't climb over rocks or don't engrave or damage our national heritage ( as i saw many idiotic people performing stunts here.)

A heritage site worth visiting. Usually people don't like visiting historical places but this place comes in handy with calmness, peaceful vibe, serenity and sightseeing. You need half of your day to visit this site. Don't go in monsoons and on a hot day. It is well maintained by MPT. The updates and measures they've taken to maintain the authenticity of this place is remarkable.

We feel we are practically visiting historic place that we studied in school history about stone age man and progress they made. Truly a World Heritage site. Very well maintained. Not advisable for people who can't walk much and for Wheelchair accessible. They have ample parking and entrance ticket is for vehicle. For suv cars it is 150/- rupees. Washrooms are also available which are okay types in case of urgency.

There's 1 or 2 guides there, use them because they will tell you the interesting story of this place. There's no food or drink available there. Entry is Rs. 150 per car. There's no entry free for the caves.

They are very ancient human rock shelters, where the people who live have drawn pictures. Though these pictures now seem primitive, they are wonderfully drawn. As per the information furnished on the site through edicts, these exhibitions tell many details about inhabitants, animals, use of weaponry, mythical beliefs, etc,. An interesting place to visit, which is declared as a World Heritage center.

The Bhojeshwar Mahadev Temple, located in the rural village of Bhojpur just outside of the city of Bhopal, is a well-known Hindu temple that dates back to at least the 10th or 11th century. The temple is unfinished, and its architecture and construction remain a mystery due to unknown reasons. Despite this lack of completion, the temple remains an important part of Hindu culture and tradition in the area.
My visit to Bhojpur Temple was a serene journey into ancient spirituality. The towering lingam, intricate carvings, and unfinished structure added to its mystique. Surrounded by nature and history, it left me with a profound sense of peace and wonder.

Bhojeshwara Temple - The construction of the temple is believed to be initiated by Raja Bhoj during 11th century and for some reasons remained incomplete. The shivalingam is perhaps the largest in india measuring almost 7.5 feet in height and 17.8 feet in circumference. This is set on a square platform giving it an imposing look.

Bhojpur Temple is a historical and archaeological site located near Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is renowned for the incomplete Bhojeshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Here are some key details about the Bhojpur Temple:
1. Location: Bhojpur Temple is situated on the banks of the Betwa River, approximately 28 kilometers from Bhopal.

3. Unfinished Temple: Despite its grand scale, the Bhojeshwar Temple remains incomplete and lacks a superstructure (shikhara). Travel by train to bhopal / Rani kamlapati if it is in your train route as I was traveling from Mumbai.
Bus no:116 will take you banrasiya (near bhojpur) 30₹ -32₹ fare
( Ask at the station which side bus comes for bhojpur)
Banrasiya to bhojpur 7km 20 ₹per person sharing auto goes as we were 5 we occupied the auto 😂as whole max 30₹ per person
For stay: dharmshala near Jain temple or if you want a private stay you can go with that directly to the hotel and bargain don't follow anyone.
We visited on 29th July (during monsoon/ sharavan) fortunately there was no rain but cloudy sky and when on 28th July we arrived we were astonished by the temple view we thought no going in as not bathed and were leaving after 20min ( as plan was to stay in night and bath and come back)but Shiva wanted us to see him without any bounding of laws and rituals and a 10min rain shower started when we were leaving the only place to hide was inside the temple under the lingam 😊 .
You can walk 10min to dharm shala inside Jain temple surrounding and stay at a cheaper price there as we got it for 500 ₹1night only we were 5 people. In the morning I got up early and did meditation inside the Jain mandir which is also an historical site just next to dharmshala.
Now well dressed in dhoti as planned, the bhojeshwar Mahadev temple arti was going(blessed ☺️) my plan was to meditate do guru Pooja ( performed by Sadhguru audio) just outside the temple again grace of God when I started the arti which was ended inside they came outside and started the drum playing aarti from outside literally got goosebumps while I was in dhyanm and ended at same point. Can't describe the feelings of energy and the weather was cool and pleasant.
Next to dharmshala there is a hotel too the person who is really friendly at the hotel offers us food even late at night and has his shop near the temple too.
We left for ujjain then the same travel pattern auto>bus116>Bhopal station> ujjain intercity train

The Shiva temple at Bhojpur about 32 km from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, is an intriguing structure as it is reckoned to be incomplete for which various theories abound. Dated to the 11th century CE, the construction began during the period of the Paramara king Bhoja but was never completed. Before 2007 when restoration works began the temple did not have a roof and the ASI closed the ceiling with a new architectural component matching the original one, to stop the water percolation. The Shivling is massive and is 7.5 foot tall on a pedestal that is 21 ft in height. The massive circular dome is at a height of 40 ft from the ground and is supported by 4 pillars and are adorned with carvings

**The Tropic of Cancer in Bhopal Vidisha Highway: A Great Location with Some Shortcomings**
The Tropic of Cancer is an imaginary line that circles the Earth at 23.5 degrees north latitude. It is the northernmost point at which the sun can be directly overhead. The Tropic of Cancer passes through India, and one of the places where it crosses the ground, on the Vidisha Highway.
The Tropic of Cancer point in Bhopal Vidisha Highway is a popular tourist destination. It is located in a beautiful spot, with lush green fields and a clear view of the surrounding countryside. There is a small monument at the point, which marks the spot where the Tropic of Cancer crosses the Earth.
However, there are some shortcomings to visiting the Tropic of Cancer point in Bhopal Vidisha Highway. There are no food or restroom facilities at the site, so visitors need to bring their own food and make sure to use the restroom before they arrive. Additionally, there are no shops or restaurants nearby, so visitors will need to drive or take a taxi to get food or other amenities.
Despite these shortcomings, the Tropic of Cancer point in Bhopal Vidisha Highway is still a worthwhile place to visit. It is a unique and interesting location, and it is a great place to learn about the geography of India.
Here are some additional details that you can add to your article:
* The Tropic of Cancer point in Bhopal Vidisha Highway is located about 30 kilometers from the city center.
* The best time to visit is during the spring or fall, when the weather is mild.
* There is a small parking lot at the site, but it can get crowded during peak tourist season.
* Visitors are encouraged to leave their trash behind and help to keep the area clean.

Stupa No. 3 was built during the time of the Shungas, who also built the railing around it as well as the staircase. The Relics of Sariputra and Mahamoggallana, the disciples of the Buddha are said to have been placed in Stupa No. 3, and relics boxes were excavated tending to confirm this.[33]
The reliefs on the railings are said to be slightly later than those of Stupa No. 2.[23]
The single torana gateway oriented to the south is not Shunga, and was built later under the Satavahanas, probably circa 50 BCE

It's a great historic place to visit with your friends or family!
There are a lot of small stupas and a main stupa.
There are clean restrooms, and I hope they keep them maintained.
There's a canteen where you can have some snacks and tea. And also a store from where you can buy a souvenir to remember SANCHI by!
Tour guides are available.
😇
Thank you.

Loved this beautiful monument. Thankfully, sanchi stupa has been preserved quite well. There is a lot you'll get to experience and see what we have not told in our books and syllabus. Make sure you visit this place early morning in summers. And keep a water bottle with you too.

Buddhist Stupas and caves in India that you should know 🧵
1.Sanchi Stupa: located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Sanchi Stupa is one of the oldest and most well-preserved Buddhist stupas in India.
It was built during the reign of Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE.
Today, the Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the most famous tourist spots near Bhopal and a prominent Buddhist pilgrimage site. Scores of people visit this structure every day to get a glimpse of the region’s architectural heritage and to understand the cultural history of India at a deeper level. Currently, you can see around fifty additional structures and monuments on the hilltop where the Stupa is situated.
In 1989, the Great Stupa and other Buddhist structures at Sanchi were collectively declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO for their unique cultural significance.

Nice museum with a nominal entry fee of 5₹.
Extremely neat and well kept museum. Interestingly given the sparse crowd we had one of the guards who followed us and pointed that we should not get close to the exhibits.
Very conscientious. Good job by them.

If you are visiting Sanchi Stupa then you should visit the museum as well which is located down the hill near the ticket counter and the entry ticket is just 5₹.
The museum is small but very informative with some good ancient sculptures, you can get to see parts of the actual Ashok Stambha. To cover the entire museum peacefully you require at least an hour or so.

I really liked the place. This museum has all those remains of the Sanchi stupa that were found during its recreation. It is well maintained. I loved the photo gallery especially as it has images of how Sanchi stupa looks before and after it was repaired or recreated. Also has washrooms. Ticket price for museum is Rs. 5 per person and for Sanchi stupa it is Rs. 40 per person and Rs. 35 per person if paid online. Must visit place. Maintained properly.

Sanchi museum is located near main Sanchi stupas site. It is a single floored white building with a compound of lush green lawns and shady trees. The Museum was established by Sir John Marshall in 1919, when he was Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). When planned excavation work was started under supervision of Sir John Marshall, need for museum arose to properly store and showcase the actual findings thus museum was made in small building.
Sanchi museum comprises of four galleries and one large central hall. Here variety of sculptural artefacts have been showcased for public view. These articles are from Sanchi and its nearby Buddhist and Hindu sites like Vidisha, Gyraspur, Murelkhurd etc.
Among them most well known exhibit in the Sanchi museum is the Ashokan capital displayed in main hall. This piece of sculpture shows four-lions seated back-to-back and once topped Pillar No.-10 in Sanchi. It reminds us of lion capital of Sarnath. This image of four-lion is taken as national emblem of India.

The Sanchi Stupas, located in the heart of India, stand as an exquisite testament to the rich history and architectural brilliance of ancient times. These magnificent structures, dating back over two millennia, continue to captivate visitors with their grandeur and spiritual significance. As a witness to their awe-inspiring beauty, I cannot help but express my utmost admiration for the Sanchi Stupas.
Stepping onto the grounds of Sanchi, I was immediately enveloped in a serene atmosphere that seemed to transcend time. The sight of the iconic hemispherical domes, embellished with intricate carvings and adorned with the finest artistry, left me speechless. The sheer scale of the stupas is truly breathtaking, and the meticulous attention to detail is a testament to the craftsmanship of the ancient architects.
The Great Stupa, the centerpiece of Sanchi, commands attention with its imposing presence. Its massive stone structure, standing over 36 meters tall, exudes a sense of power and spiritual significance. As I circumambulated the stupa, I marveled at the delicate stone reliefs that adorned its outer walls. Each carving told a story, narrating the life and teachings of the Buddha, while intricate motifs and patterns added a sense of grace and elegance.
The surrounding pillars and gateways, known as toranas, add a touch of grandeur to the complex. These intricately carved structures showcase the mastery of the artisans of yore, depicting scenes from Buddhist mythology and offering glimpses into ancient Indian society. The craftsmanship displayed on these pillars is a testament to the skill and dedication of the craftsmen who worked tirelessly to create such masterpieces.
Beyond their architectural magnificence, the Sanchi Stupas hold deep spiritual significance. As a sacred Buddhist site, they serve as a pilgrimage destination for followers of the faith. The peaceful ambiance and the sense of tranquility that envelop the complex make it a perfect place for meditation and reflection. Standing atop the hill, one can witness breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, further enhancing the spiritual experience.
The preservation and restoration efforts at Sanchi deserve praise. The meticulous work undertaken to maintain the stupas and their surrounding structures have ensured that future generations can continue to appreciate their beauty and historical significance. The site's informative exhibits and well-maintained gardens provide a holistic experience for visitors, allowing them to delve into the rich cultural and architectural heritage of ancient India.
Visiting the Sanchi Stupas was an experience that left an indelible mark on my soul. It transported me to a bygone era, where craftsmanship and spirituality were seamlessly intertwined. Whether you are an architecture enthusiast, a history buff, or a spiritual seeker, Sanchi will undoubtedly leave you in awe. I highly recommend visiting these ancient marvels to witness firsthand the grandeur and serenity they exude—a true testament to the timeless allure of human creativity and devotion.

An interesting testimony to ancient history and the importance of Vidisha as it is thought to be constructed by an ambassador of an Indo-Greek King of Taxila to embody his faith in Vaishnavism. A record of early Vaishnavism. Besides the pillar, under a tree are several stones pieces with engraving. Please also notice nails in the trunk of same tree thought to symbolise a local ritual.

A wonderful place to visit. Almost two thousand years ago a Greek Ambassador erected this pillar in praise of Lord Vishnu. Heliodorus embraced Hinduism. There was a ' Garuda' on top of the pillar. It is currently in a museum at Gwalior

Heliodorus Pillar, erected around 113 BC at Besnagar near Vidisha, (Modern state of Madhya Prades), is a fine example of Hellenistic influence in ancient Indian art, architecture and sculpture.
This pillar which resembles Ashokan Pillars, was erected by Heliodorus, who was a ambassador of Indo-Greek king to the court of Bhagabhadra. The pillar praises the traditional Vaishnava religion. Its noteworthy to mention here that this pillar is situated only 11 kilometres from Buddhist stupa of Sanchi.
These sorts of sculpture and architecture is a clear pointer towards a vibrant cultural efflorescence during ancient period in India.

The Gangau Reservoir, located near Khajuraho, is a remarkable representation of the exquisite wonders bestowed by Mother Nature. Its beauty is unparalleled and cannot be equaled by any man-made creation. If you plan to venture there, it is advisable to have a spacious SUV due to the treacherous mountain roads. This reservoir stands as an exemplar of magnificence in Chhatarpur district. It offers a splendid experience, particularly during the rainy season.
