Closed down for the renovation. No signs about the duration of the work.
I hope the renovation will be done quickly and will worth the wait.
Don't bother to pay a visit until is not open again.

It a nice place but I don't suggest it during this time of year, they are working outside so it full of mud, weather was not with us since it was raining.
I do like the architecture of the Castel, it's a nice place. The forest also does make this place like a fairytale. I will like to visit during summer or spring time to enjoy it more.
PS :As per program monday-friday only with reservation.
Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 20.
Cost it 15 lei

It would have been nice if the tour could also be offered in English. Maybe with a recorder....

The place is quite abandoned like. The stories told by the guide are nice but doesn’t make up for how the interior looks like. I don’t recommend going in until it will be restored.
Hodea Andra — Google review
The restaurant sucked, it's mostly improvised in an old building. Staff are too few and service is slow in a good case. The natural scenery is genuinely good (a lot of very old trees and good shade cover around), however it is littered with garbage.
The castle itself is an interesting visit, but tours are poorly organized and hard to get without planning ahead (unless you are a large group).
Parking is non existent and the walk from the main entrance to the location, while pleasant, is not always practical for the very young or the very old
Cristian C — Google review
The castle is fascinating, though it needs significant restauration. It has enormous potential given it localisation, the surroundings and the history behind.
We visited on weekend when there is not available a guided tour of the casle (only in weekdays is this service offered). The ticket for and adult is 40lei (cash only) which i find a little expensive, but let's hope this money will contribute to a restoration of the place as soon as possible. There are 2 entrances possible- one given by g*** maps and other by the locals. With the later it's easier to find a parking place. Maybe on weekdays this problem is less stringent.
It a good place to spend a few hours with friends/ family.

The 3* are for the surrounding, the tour guide, and the outside of the palace. Unfortunately, the inside is in ruins. Almost all the decorations and furniture inside were donated to the estate. The originals were either destroyed or stolen. The good news is that they have found rehabilitation, which should be finished by 2026. The visit is done only in a guided group.

Wonderful surroundings. The Palace needs renovation. The guide is the best part.
Sorin Apostu — Google review
The palace is a beauty of architecture, so it's worth visiting. But the interior is not renovated, so there is little to see. The furniture is mostly, from what I could tell, whatever they could find and not antiques. The palace garden / property offers nothing.
There is a restaurant there, a villa where you can rent rooms (not sure if already possible), a church that is just being renovated.
Hopefully they will restore the palace itself, as it would be a jewel, judging by the remnants of paint seen on the walls and mostly ceilings (the best preserved are the ceilings).

Very nice place to visit. History of that place is beautiful. You can get very nice vine to buy and is the restaurant so you can eat. Highly recommend lost of green for kids to run

I was passing by and took the camera to take a picture or two. Other than that I didn't check the wider sorrounding area and someone told me there might be a nice water/river nearby. And I also didn't visit inside of the castle but maybe that's where the nice part is. The toilets were ok but no toilet paper when I went there.
Also check the visiting times cause I overheard some people outside complaining about that there are strange visiting times for inside the castle if i remember or overheard correctly.
Andrei Turca — Google review
The tour inside the castle was nice, the guide makes you feel part of the story and the atmosphere is quite relaxed. You have the chance to freely walk around the castle gardens. Inside tour entry fee: 15 RON. Don't miss the lunch at the castle's restaurant 😁.

Sadly, the only mall in Bacau is very small. Most brands are there, however not the way a proper mall should be. A city as Bacau needs a bigger mall, with a more diverse shop selection and and a more diversified food court.

Some of the shops seemed short staffed but at the jewellery they're really welcoming. Quite clean and various
Mihaela Zavate — Google review
A good mall with a variety of clothing options, from Zara, HM, Pull&Bear.
There are many food options as the food court is pretty big. There are plenty choices for those who love shawarma and fast food. There is a Pizza Hut for pizza lovers.
Too bad the toilet is located only at the ground floor so you have to take the lift or descend the stairs if you are at the food court.
Another bad thing about the toilet is even though it was pretty new it was very dirty. I went twice in 2 hours and nothing changed. It wasn’t even the rush hour or the weekend. So they could improve in that area.

Little commercial centre. Little if you compared with an European one, but big one on this area. You can find all type of European commercial centre comfort but smaller. I liked the cinema they have. On my opinion it’s pretty. The center have a toilet and a lot of Roumanian fast food and restaurants. Doesn’t suggested to visit during a Covid-19 for small corridor they have and for people who doesn’t respect safe distance o for those who doesn’t Ware a mask (they’re a lot). 4 stars just for covid safe guard, cause they doesn’t check body temperature as well. For shopping and anything else, a really nice place.
I have just a single picture of the cinema.
Anyway, enjoy shopping :)

It's a small house, but packed with personality and charm. It's after all, the home of Ion Creangă, one of the best storytellers that also encapsulated the spirituality of the village life.

This beautifully restored fortress is situated high up on a hill side, a 15-20 minute walk from the hill base and across a very high and long bridge.

The "Cucuteni" Museum of Neolithic Art in Piatra Neamt is a must-visit for anyone interested in European prehistoric art, anthropology, or spirituality. It houses the most important Neolithic collection in southeastern Europe and features breathtaking artifacts that are representative of the Cucuteni-Trypillian aesthetics. The museum offers limited signage explaining the exhibits and unfortunately, some floors may be closed to visitors.
The museum is definitely worth visiting for anyone stopping by in Piatra Neamț. However, it is A BIG MUST if you are an artist or designer looking for inspiration and certainly if you're a history buff, even remotely interested in European prehistoric art, anthropology or spirituality. The displayed artifacts are simply breathtaking! Some of the finest exhibits, truly representative of the Cucuteni-Trypillian aesthetics.

A special museum! Very well organized, the exhibits are very well distributed so as to attract the attention of the visitors. The guides are very well prepared and dedicated to their job so as to be as explicit as possible to capture the attention of tourists. They told us the story of those pots forged by those in the Cucutenian civilization. Very charming!
Ana-Maria Sandu — Google review
The museum is dedicated to Cucuteni civilization, wich lived around Piatra Neamt about 6000 year ago.
Apparently, the Cucuteni people were geometry fanatics. They loved to paint triangles, circles, squares and other geometrical figures.
They also seemed to be obsessed about female torsos. All the female statues displayed in the museum are very curvy, with small head and no arms. As far as I understood, the only artifacts left behind by Cucuteni civilization are the ceramic pots and statues exposed in this museum.
The exhibition really worth visiting if you're around. If no one tells you how old the exhibits are, you might believe it's a modern art gallery.
Ionut Sendroiu — Google review
"The cucutenians had the gift for pottery making in the highest degree, so that the question comes to our mind, whether if making and decorating vessels was not in fact their only reason to be. Even if not so, in the history of the human kind they will always stand as undefeated modelers and pottery painters. We are certain that the decorative cucutenian art was not limited only to pottery decorating, as some painted wall fragments suggest that the obsession for polychrome decorations manifested also in the constructions. Without any doubt the clothes and shoes as well as some common use objects were also richly decorated. Unfortunately, the only remaining witness for the cucutenian decorative works is the pottery. It is though enough in order to place the cucutenians amongst the most gifted and sophisticated European prehistoric art creators" - Dan Monah

70% of the Cucuteni artifacts are in the museum. Impressive collection for a culture that is almost 7000 years old.

Food was not spectacular, the house wine was pretty bad, prices were average-high. Nice surroundings, but the car noise coming from the road nearby kind of spoils the experience. I think it's a cool place to have some beers with friends.

Some of the best food in the city. Burgers are amazing, and the beef steaks are to die for.

We stayed here three nights and ate dinner once. The rooms are clean and modern. Because this is close to a busy road, it is noisy. Also, dinner guests sit just outside your window if you're on the ground floor. Customer service was great. We thought the food was better than average. We would stay here again.

Very nice location, with a beautiful view towards 15th century Princely Court.
The owners payed attention to every detail (from the trees in the restaurants' court to outdoor furniture, from keeping the historical architectural style to adding a modern touch to it).
The food will make you enjoy every bite.
Staff is friendly and efficient.
Definitely a place to return to.
Later edit:
Fancy rooms, very clean.
Personnel is always around, they offer to help you every time, although one does not need any help, everything runs smoothly by default.

Very nice place. I ate the Burger Curtea Domneasca. It was tasty, I liked the fact that the fries were natural, not frozen.
The service was amazing, very kind Staff.

The general atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the people working there were friendly and helpful, the room and the whole location is really beautiful decorated and clean, the breakfast is the best I had in years, the delicious food competes with the one prepared in Europe’s best restaurants, a quality surprisingly to find in a small town, and the location suits all kind of touristic activities. I recommande Curtea Domneasca both for young and well aged, for families with children and for lovers.

Very peaceful peaceful tacked away location. Visited here in March so was very quiet. The habitants are very friendly and even invited me to eat with them. Buildings on site are beautiful. It is a fairly reasonably sized monastery and feels special. You won’t regret visiting Rasca.

A monk (masculine gender) Orthodox monastery that holds one of the oldest painted icons in the Orthodox world, The Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus in her arms, painted in the 7th sentury in the year 665 in Constantinople and eventually gifted to the romanian country of Moldova, covered in golden'ed silver and gems in the year 1844 - 1845 is the centerpiece of the main chirch and surrounded by an incredibly beautiful monastic settlement, close to theological school and in a landscape that God Himself would want to live. Superb and Divine... must visit !!!! As well close to Reserve Bisons and Carpathian Fauna "Dragoş Vodă". Must see both... one for nature and one for spirituality and personal relationship with God.
Extremely well maintained place. The church has some of the most wonderful paintings I’ve seen in an orthodox site. A must visit place.
Lulu De Hillerin — Google review
Beautiful monastery with well kept gardens. The artwork is less typical of Christian Orthodox artwork as it was done by Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu who painted in a neoclassical style. You can also visit a museum of his work inside the monastery. Sadly you can't take pictures inside the church so the paintings can be preserved

Red Lake, Romania's largest mountain lake, offers summer boating and nearby hiking in a picturesque forest setting. Meanwhile, Salina Turda is not just a halotherapy center but also an underground marvel with a rich history of salt mining. The 200-year-old natural lake may dry up by the end of the century, with dead tree trunks in its waters revealing its rapid formation. Visitors can take a leisurely walk around the lake or rent rowboats during the summer.
The Red Lake is a natural reservoir created in January 1838 after an earthquake dislodged part of the mountain and dammed the Bicaz River. Also known as the Killer Lake.

A very old and beautiful lake. Here you can stay and just admire the beautiful nature. Everything about this place is so beautiful. There are enough restaurants nearby the lake where you can buy food and drinks ( the prices are a bit higher). Here you can also hire rowing boats or a horse carriage and explore the area more. Here you can also find a NoMAD library- a mobile library. I personally think the idea is fantastic and I wish I could see more mobile libraries.
The car park costs 10 lei per day and to use the public toilets will cost you 3 lei per person.

Almost 200years old natural lake, could possibly dry up by end of the century.
Dead tree trunks in the lake tell the story of its quick formation * (see below).
Complete walk around it possible in ab 40-60mins (although crossing of the creek (the one near the boats) might be a bit difficult). Some benches also placed around it to sit down.
There were boats to rent during the summer, but not all of the lake could be sailed on.. some parts were understandably closed/protected.
Cristal clear water, you could see some fish on the top. Some wild ducks also present. Virgin forest surrounding, clean fresh air.
Definitely worth the trail walk.
Unfortunately cleanliness of the surroundings was lacking.. no trashbins and way to many toilet papers along the trail. Only one public toilet station (only 3 RON entrance), which was at the end of the market area.
* The lake's name come from the hungarian 'gyilkos' meaning killer, then translated to romanian 'roşu', meaning red.
The word 'killer/ red' comes from the legend of the lake's formation. A young girl who promised her heart to someone was taken against her will by another to be married.. her cries evoked a huge storm, causing the mountains to shake and rocks to fall and kill her, her robber and the sheep herd of the village. These rocks acted as a natural dam and created the lake.

Red Lake is a natural dam lake in Harghita County, Romania. It is located in the Hășmaș Mountains, on the upper course of the Bicaz River, and lies at the foot of the Hășmașul Mare Peak [ro], near the Bicaz Gorge, at a distance of 26 km (16 mi) from Gheorgheni and 30 km (19 mi) from Bicaz.
The lake formed following the collapse of a slope due to the earthquake of January 23, 1838 at 18:45, measuring 6.9 magnitude on the Richter scale, VIII intensity. The landslide blocked the course of the Bicaz River and the lake formed behind this dam.
The Red Lake is located between Suhardul Mic and Suhardul Mare peaks on the north side, the Podu Calului Mountains to the south-west, the Licaș and Chișhovoș Mountains to the north-west, the Făgetul Ciucului peak to the north-east, and Muntele Ucigaș (The Killer Mount) to the east.
My personal opinion: We are going here every season and we have the same good time every time, the path is easy and accessible for everyone. Even sitting next to the lake and enjoying the view makes the trip worth the time. The drive is wonderful up through the mountain pass narrow in places. Everything is beautiful and the path is kept clean. The location provides a well marked (red cross on white background) circular walk around the lake which takes an hour or so. There is parking available although we were staying at Hotel Lacu Rosu, so this wasn’t needed. The location is an excellent stopping off between Gura Humorului and Brasov.
There are lots of stalls selling the usual tourist stuff and nearby toilets so even if not staying overnight it is a useful stopping off point. It was very quiet, almost deserted during our mid October visit but can imagine it gets very busy in mid-summer. Please do not litter. Thank you.

Strada Harghita 9/b/3, Miercurea Ciuc 530003, Romania
The Ice Cave is located in the Gâtul Chibei mountain area and was formed in a grotto of the travertine massif. It is developed as a vertical canyon-like fissure and has a height of 50 meters. In length, it does not exceed 60 meters, but only the initial portion is accessible to visitors.
It earned its name due to water infiltrations that freeze and take the form of stalactites and stalagmites. They thicken during the winter, and in late spring or summer they melt. Once in front of the cave, you can feel the cold current from inside.
A narrow passage, between two rock walls, leads to a dark part, where the cave opens its spectacle, one of ice. To see the concretized shapes, carved in the ice, you need a strong flashlight.
Cristi G — Google review
The cave can no longer be visited because it collapsed. You can go in maximum 10 meters and then, only if you are willing to squeeze thru the fallen rocks you can go further but I do not recommend it.
The way there is worth it because of the views.

Quite a small cave, with some fallen boulders; one could crawl further in it, but would need some special equipment. The landscape getting there is nice so I would say its worth it for the walk not for the cave.
There is nothing spectacular, but the view over the valley is pretty good.
You can go there with kids but inside the cave it is dark so you’d better come prepared with a lantern.

Having visited Medveles, the whole family had a lot of positive emotions. Watched very close for big bears, foxes and wild boar. Everyone liked it! Recommended!

Great experience for a rainy day.
We were a large group with adults and kids, spent a nice time in the heart of nature with wild animals a few meters apart.

Nice experience. Safe, they can be seen from up close. The bears live freely, only given 3kg of food, not treated otherwise, not touched by anyone.

Everything is fabulous. The place, the views, the team and ofcours the bears. We had luck to see the bears from truck. You also have option to see them from cabin, behing bullet proof glass. The organizers are very friendly and tolkative. They can tell interesting storyes about bears. Definetely a must see place!

When you arrive there, you will be greeted by a person who will hand you a leaflet with information about the complex that also has a map. You can leave the car in the parking lot, there are paths arranged to each objective, and the ticket costs 20 RON (4 EUR) per person. The included objectives are: the extinct volcano Racos, the basalt quarry Brazi nicknamed by the locals The Emerald Lake, the basalt columns, and the Sükösd-Bethlen castle.
There's a toilet as well as kiosks where you can buy souvenirs.

The whole geological complex is unique in Romania. A landscape that reminds me of Iceland and a lot of beautiful landmarks. The crater is quite beautiful in the right light or high from above.

Beautiful view. When we visited the place, the inside of the volcano area was closed as there was a movie set occupying the volcano for the entire year but that was not a problem as we hiked on the trail towards the antennas and we managed to snap some pictures of it. I totally recommend taking pictures or videos from above with a drone if possible. The dirt colouring combining with the plants that grow on it is amazing!

Odorheiu Secuiesc, situated in Transylvania, Romania, is the second largest municipality in Harghita County. This town is commonly referred to as Odorhei in Romanian and Udvarhely in Hungarian. Its name originates from the Hungarian phrase "courtyard place". In Lazarea village, located at the foot of Eastern Carpathian Mountains within Szekely region, you'll explore Lazar Castle that was constructed during 1450 employing Renaissance-style architecture.
Laid-back resort featuring hostel- & hotel-style lodging, as well as restaurants, bowling & a spa.
Good communication & friendly staff. The rooms were clean and tidy. The spa resort is great to chill for a few hours. Only thing I missed to getting some cocktails at the bar and drinking while I’m in the spa resort.

It's a perfect location for families, lots of activities around and also in the resort. It has 2 pools (one outside in summer and one inside all year long), jacuzzi, sauna, massage, bowling, football court, and tennis, restaurant and big parking. The rooms are pretty big and comfortable, very good customer service.
We've been up there for a full week and still had things to do/try in the area.

Septima Resort is a nice and clean wellness resort located in beautiful city of Székelyudvarhely in Transylvania. We live in Belgium and booked this accommodation to celebrate my Transylvanian father-in-law’s 70th Birthday since they live 90 km from this place. Apart from enjoying the wellness facilities and beautiful region we also planned to have a nice festive dinner in their restaurant which we reserved well beforehand. However, on the spot we were told that the entire restaurant space was already booked by a group for that particular evening and that therefore we would be placed in the rather shabby looking bar part of the restaurant which is obviously not an environment to celebrate such a special occasion. When I asked the restaurant manager (a young woman with glasses) if she could perhaps recommend us another quality establishment in the neighborhood, she turned her face away from me and refused to answer my fully legitimate question considering the circumstances. After repeating my question she mumbled something about that ‘it depends on what we consider quality ’ while at the same time still refusing to look at me. I was and still am, absolutely stunned by so much customer disrespect, shameless behavior and utter amateurism. When I later learned that she was recently appointed as manager of this restaurant, I immediately understood that this clearly reflects bad on the standards of this resort and the way it is managed in general. We were happy that back at reception the extremely nice and professional Zsuzsi recommended restaurant Páva to us and also apologized for the appalling behavior of her colleague at the restaurant. To make matters worse, I was also negatively surprised that although I met this manager twice after her ridiculous reaction to my question and not once did she make an effort to make us feel welcome or comfortable at all. As a matter of fact she made us feel like she didn’t want us there. All
in all this is by far the worst experience I ever had in any restaurant during my lifetime. Therefore I would definitely NOT recommend this accommodation if you are looking to relax and spend quality time in the region. As the other accommodation/restaurant ‘Páva’ turned out to be a real treat on all levels, in the end all turned out well!

Best place to stay in the heart of Székelyföld. All the thousand ++ year historical places and culture of the Hungarian - Székely indigenous population can be accessed from here. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were well versed in the Hungarian language and many other foreign languages, too; which is quite a contrast to some other large cities, like Nagy-Szeben, where neither the original inhabitant's tongue, i.e. German, nor any meaningful languages (like English, Spanish, French, Cantonese etc.) were spoken in any of the venues.

Strada Orbán Balázs 102, Odorheiu Secuiesc 535600, Romania
Popular salt mine known for therapeutic cures for respiratory infections & chapel carved from salt.
It's an amazing place and you have to visit it if you're in the area. The price is affordable (it's even lower if you buy a ticket for more than 5 days) and it's well worth it.
Apart from the bus that's getting you inside, which is old and polluting (an electric one would be more suitable), everything else is OK and very well organized to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Inside there's an adventure park (for kids and adults), a cafeteria, ping-pong tables, a few small shops and some information panels presenting the salt mine's history. There's a restaurant with an affordable menu (changes every day) and even a church. There are many tables and benches along the walls, so you can have a seat and rest, eat or have a drink. Plenty of people bring their laptops and work, as there are numerous power outlets throughout the area and there's free WiFi.
Mihai Belcan — Google review
There are diesel toxic fumes at the entry and exit. You need an electric bus for transport. At the restaurant there is nobody at the desk, you have to call. And when they come they are bored and lazy
I asked what kind of soups they have and they told me to read the labels. There was nobody else to serve, just lazy. The food is edible I guess.

Destroyed for money. Entire mine filled with arcade halls and other things to make tourists spend money. Hard to enjoy the mine itself. I would not come here again, or even once if I knew.

This is just a big chamber with a few activities for children(for money of course) what you can do anywhere else. Nothing interesting or unique is about this salt mine. If you want to see something unique pls go to the salt mine in Turda.
T?r?k Krist?f — Google review
The view from the observation post is spectacular!
You can also find here a church, a restaurant, a small exhibit presenting the history of the salt mine and lots of fun places for children (adventure park, planetarium, swings, etc).
There are also a lot of sitting areas to enjoy a cup of coffee and admire nature's underground beauty.
Crisstrix — Google review
Beautiful salt mine, a lot of activities for children and adults. There are a lot of playgrounds for kids, shops for adults and at the upper level there is a restaurant with a fixed menu each day.
All areas are very well signalised with all directions.
There is a bus next to ticket office that takes you to the salt mine and after are stairs to get down.
Face mask is mandatory inside the salt mine and a lot of hand sanitizer disposers all over the place, inclusive in the bus.
alina dobre — Google review
Love it! Lots of things to do, plenty of space to walk around. Very good for your health also. I recommend it!
Sorin Chita — Google review
Overrated and underwhelming.
Considering the cost and the amount of ppl visiting they could actually have more mining related things about and a higher standard inside given it was of a child daycare facility.
Salina Turda was more authentic and interesting whereas this was smore of a square hall that's rather dirty, full of random moneyhungry attractions. If you have kids I'd say it's fine to have them running about but for adults.. Meh,..
Needs more oxygen, less gimmicky things like expensive VR experience etc...
Anyway, if you want to sit and have a coffee and brows the Web then fine.
Whatever the health benefits were gained from the salt, they were most likely evaporated by the heavy exhaust fumes in the tunnel getting on the dirty bus to leave the place after climbing many stairs which aren't really that great for older ppl.
Luckily there's a church there in one of the chambers where you can pray for, well, whatever you wish to pray for. Like an elevator to the top to avoid the smogbuss.
Victor Chirilas — Google review
Very nice place. It is not that big, you can see everything in 30 minutes, however, there are many activities to do and its good to come prepared. You can being different games, food, or any other activities. You have table tenis here, you can play badminton (just bring your own equipment). You can also buy it there. Its good to bring some things to do and spend time there while breathing that good air. There are also play grounds for kids, climb park for kids, church etc

I'm writing this review following our one-week visit to the Praid Salt Mine.
This place is truly a must-visit at least once in a lifetime.
The air is wonderfully salty and beneficial for health, and during our visit, it wasn't crowded.
The vast corridors and the presence of wooden furniture and toys for children were definite highlights.
However, there are some negative aspects to the Salt Mine Praid that I'd like to expose:
* One aspect that doesn't belong in this beautiful place is the presence of GSM antennas, which include 3G, 4G, or possibly 5G (as seen in the attached picture). These antennas emit high levels of radiation, which can be concerning for human health, potentially leading to issues like DNA disruption and other serious diseases. If anyone from the Salrom S.A. management sees this review, I will kindly ask you to take immediate action to remove these antennas for the safety of all visitors.
* In the middle of the mine, there's a play area with colorful lights and noisy mechanical games, which don't quite fit the natural atmosphere of the Salt Mine.
* Additionally, the machines with toys that are picked up by cranes are also not fit to this place.
I hope that in the coming year, the Salrom Management will solve these issues and restore the natural charm of the Praid Salt Mine.
I will downgrade 3x stars because of the GSM antennas.
If the problem will be solved i will put the stars back.

Great experience! We're going to visit a place every weekend. Some weekends ago we visit @Salt Mine Praid. The underground it's great, there is plenty of activities for kids. And not just for them. There is Aventura park accesibile for any age. We walk over through galleries, we spent time at the museum, we sit together for a meal and visit the beautiful church. On the way out you can find and the restaurant and another nice designed space. It's my second time @Salt Mine Pride and I will come back for sure. There are plenty of destinations around the salt mine.

The longest salt mine I have ever been!
The bus took us from the ticket station ( price for adults is 50 lei) and drove around 2-3 minutes!
The mine is perfect for people who have allergies( you can feel the air difference+the humidity which is 60% usually).
Inside you can find a lot of recreational places, a church!!, restaurants, and swings!
Worth a visit if you are nearby (or even far away!)
Gabriela — Google review
Review for March 2022 after several consecutive visits inside the salt mine.
A fascinating place! Spectacular underground salt mine in Praid - but all these could be improved should there be willingness from the owners (there isn't):
Acces fees: 35 lei/ adult; 25 lei per child above 3 years; I consider it expensive for the services received back.
Access inside the mine is done via a diesel bus that drives 1.2km inside the mountain and there are like 200 wooden stairs to descend and another 150 steps for the ascend to the bus;
Visiting depth of the mine is 120m;
Good things:
- experience
- salty air
- access to inside resources/activities
- toilet available underground
- plenty of seating / benches / relax areas;
- plenty of recycling bins;
- WiFi inside, GSM access (Vodafone / Digi) with high speeds available;
Require improvements:
- migrate the buses to electrical ones;
- overcrowded buses, too overcrowded even now at the end of pandemic;
- extend the schedule also for afternoon/evening visits (at least Friday / Saturday)
- !!! Mine's doors are locked on the outside and you cannot exit unless a security guard opens the gates for you only after the bus is ready to take passengers. In case of urgencies / emergencies you are trapped inside like a rat. Obviously this is highly illegal but no one checks for it.
- clear signaling how many steps are required going down and up; (yes there is climbing required and saw several middle aged persons and seniors struggling;
- bus schedule: they state "there are 2 buses per hour but no clear schedule; Once you are inside you go out when you want and then you just have to wait for the bus.
- upgrade the explanation on walls, with better graphics and more languages.
- there are several hidden gems inside the mine, but are poorly signaled or not advertised. (Belvedere view - I've discovered it only in the 3rd day - by mistake)
- in the last 7 years a lot of kitsch installations were added (flashy video game area, massage area, air inflated jumping space for children) which definitely attract crowds but create the feeling of disbanded place;
Nice experience, not to miss if you are in the surroundings. In the season tickets are selling fast, so it's better to come at the opening of the selling office.

This is a must do if you are in the area on the days it operates. (Friday-Sunday), three times daily. It is a magical journey through the woods and several valleys and bridges. On the way back, you might even be asked to sing a song! The staff were wonderful and accommodating. The steam locomotive was in great condition, and uniquely burns a mix of coal and wood. During the layover, the crew give can tours. At the end of the ride, I was even given a brief footplate ride back to the fueling depot in Sovata. Overall, a 11/10 experience. It's not too long, not to expensive, and a fabulous way to spend 2.5 hours or so. I've heard they sell out of tickets early but I was able to get two tickets on the 1700 train about 1630 with no issues, but this probably depends on how many people are visiting the region on a given day.
I only wish there was a way to buy tickets online!
Brennan Walter — Google review
Expected a ride with an old steam train but it was a diesel pumping smoke into the cabin instead. One of the staff named Florin was rude with a temper when I asked about the toilet for my 2 year old as it was apparently out of service. I would hope that staff are more friendly to customers in the future. A bit boring for small kids as it is a 2 hour return trip and not a lot to see.
Gabriel Godson — Google review
Mocanita will drive you around 2h on a 28km round trip. Tickets are valid on the day of purchase. Could be a bit boring, depending what you expect to.
Iacob Adrian — Google review
while mainly an experience for children, this historic train line is a rare steam locomotive treat that's in very good operation and gives the rider a glimpse of life in the old days 100-200 years ago especially what is was like to ply through rugged terrain of the forest. the train route goes out one hour to the middle of nowhere for a short 20 minute break and watching the locomotive switch tracks to pull the passenger carriages from the other end which is an interesting operation. at this rural point, a few vendors set up stands selling corn & juice. (it's too bad there's not an old village or settlement here or somewhere along the route that would be more interesting as a stop over, there are no facilities until you get back to you Sovata).

Very nice trip with the old train in an experience of 2 hours. The tickets sell fast so in the first part of morning must be bought for that day only. There are 3 rides per day (at least in the last year) at 11 am, at 14 pm and 17 pm.
The price per ticket is 40 Ron.
At the break point after 1 hours must be found some locals who sell their product there.
I recommend this experience like many other you can make in Sovata! You can enjoy some feelings like you are in the fairy tails. Is wonderful.

Rupea Citadel is a hilltop fortress in Transylvania, Romania. It was built by Transylvanian Saxons in the 15th century for protection against Ottoman invasions. The fortress is now a popular tourist destination, with restored rooms and towers, courtyards and some events.
Very nice castle, great views. A lot of parking spaces, if you go by it is good place to rest and buy something for drink.
Tomas Flegl — Google review
This ancient citadel is located in Rupea, on the Brasov route to Sighisoara. It is worth stopping the car for a moment to contemplate the construction because from the road it already attracts attention.
The truth is that the interior has little to see, walls that show that they have been restored, open towers without any exposure inside giving a feeling of desolation (besides that we were alone). Very good views of the area, that is true.
They have recently raised the access fee from RON 10 to RON 15 (about € 3 to change). Free parking (today). Whether or not it is worth entering depends on your timming and your passion for these constructions, personally it was a bittersweet experience, probably I would not paid now that I know what it is.
Josep Ram?rez — Google review
The view is simply amazing! I recommend going there for the view alone. I also like the fact that there is an app that's telling the story of the citadel. The only thing I disliked is the fact that all the rooms were empty :( . From my perspective some old furniture/costumes could be placed inside just not to look so... empty!

It's a good sightseeing stop. It's been restored recently so it's really nice to visit and read the info signs. It's not really recommended for wheelchairs or strollers since the stone walkway is pretty steep and uneven, but kids will love runnig around hiding in the corners of the dwellings. There are 2 parking lots, toilets, souvenir shop and a small cafe right next to the entrance.

Sure, the images might be redundant and the citadel underwhelming and empty, but it's a part of history that survived despite the constant attempts of destroying it. it's a must see if you're near it, but otherwise wouldn't say you miss out if you don't plan your trip around it

Really enjoyed it. Would have been an impressive site in it's heyday. It's only a cheap entry free so can't really complain, but they could do with putting a few artifacts in the rooms, literally 90% of the rooms are dead empty. The Evanghelic Church of C.A. Fortified Church Viscri is a beautiful, restored and preserved fortified church from the 1100s with additions made in later centuries. It is a real piece of timeless history and an important tourist destination in Transylvania. The village of Viscri is surrounded by walls and towers dating back to at least the 15th century, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside six other fortified churches in Transylvania.
Authentic place, definitely worth visiting! Take a short walk from the village parking through the fields and the village center. Climb the church tower to see the surroundings: they are very picturesque in spring!
The village itself is very nice and quiet, there is a small shop and cafe (it was closed during our visit).

This Church as the whole village is so nice, friendly and quiet. Perfect for a little getaway, away from stressors. This is one of the best sites with a fortified church in Transylvania. Outstanding place, I felt like a time traveler into the Middle Ages.

The top attraction in Viscri is the fortified church, definitely worth visiting. If you climb in the church tower, you'll get a nice view of the village and surrounding area. The ticket price is only 12 RON. What I didn't like was that the visiting schedule was very short, between 11 and 15 (in the summer it s much longer).

One of the top attractions in Viscri is undoubtedly the Fortified Church. The entrance costs 15 RON (3 EUR). Besides the church and the church tower, we were able to visit a small museum with traditional objects and an exhibition of Medias ceramics housed in the walls surrounding the church. You can leave your car in the village's parking lot.

Such a worthwhile stop! Visitors are allowed to roam everywhere— to the top attics and behind the altar, where you will find amazing gems of history.

The church has a nice architecture but the surrounding areas are not very well maintained.

Interesting site to visit. You can climb literally all the way to the top of the belfry and see the 3 big bells and the old mechanism (sadly not in use anymore), you can also get up into the attic of the church, and get up close to the church organ.

Nice stop if you are touring fortified churches. Also there is a wonderful tea house/garden just 4 minutes away.

Saschiz Village in Romania is an absolute gem that deserves every one of its 5 stars. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, this enchanting village takes you on a journey back in time with its rich history, preserved architecture, and warm hospitality. A visit to Saschiz is like stepping into a storybook.
The moment I arrived in Saschiz, I was captivated by the village's charm. The well-preserved houses with their colorful facades and traditional architecture create a delightful ambiance. The cobblestone streets add a touch of nostalgia, making every step feel like a stroll through history.
The centerpiece of Saschiz is undoubtedly the stunning fortified church. Its majestic tower looms above the village, serving as a reminder of the village's medieval past. Stepping inside, I was in awe of the intricate frescoes and the tranquil atmosphere that permeates the church. It is a true testament to the artistry and faith of the people who built it.
Exploring the village further, I discovered Saschiz's charming craft workshops, where skilled artisans create beautiful traditional handicrafts. From intricately woven textiles to handmade pottery, each piece is a work of art that showcases the village's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. The locals are warm and welcoming, eager to share their stories and traditions with visitors.
For nature enthusiasts, Saschiz offers breathtaking landscapes to explore. The surrounding hills and meadows are perfect for leisurely hikes or peaceful picnics. The air is crisp, and the views are simply magnificent. It's an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing you to reconnect with nature and recharge your senses.
To truly immerse yourself in the village's history, I recommend a visit to the Saschiz Citadel. This well-preserved fortress offers panoramic views of the village and its surroundings. It's a great vantage point to appreciate the beauty of the landscape and gain a deeper understanding of the village's strategic importance throughout the centuries.
In terms of amenities, Saschiz provides a range of options for accommodation and dining. From cozy guesthouses that offer a glimpse into traditional village life to charming restaurants serving authentic Transylvanian cuisine, there is something to suit every traveler's taste.
Saschiz Village has truly captured my heart with its old-world charm and captivating history. It is a place where time seems to stand still, allowing you to escape the fast pace of modern life and embrace a simpler, more authentic way of living. I wholeheartedly give Saschiz Village a 5-star rating and encourage everyone to visit this hidden gem in Romania.

I liked the fact that the church and tower were very well maintained/renovated. There is not a lot to do inside, but the entrance fee is only 10 RON. I also climbed the tower, but you don't really get a view once you reach the top, since there are window blinds. It is only worth stopping by if you are in the area.

Beautiful but not sure if it’s worth paying the entrance fee, specially if you are visiting other fortified churches… you can see it from the outside and see pretty much the same. Costs 10Lei/Adult

Not recommended to those who dislike small spaces as going up and down the stairs to the tower isn't that wide, but the view to the surrounding might change ones mind. Unless, you know, they have a fear of height, which then yeah, you can skip that part

The church is located on the main road that goes from Brasov to Sighisoara so it's very easy to get there. Unfortunately it was closed when I passed, but I could admire it from close by.

Recently renovated and included on the tourist circuit it has probably the weirdest visiting schedule with Tuesdays and Wednesdays closed!! I visited on a Wednesday and could only admire it from the outside
The church has one of the biggest towers in Transylvania, a tower very similar to the one in Sighisoara

Finally after years of restoration the tower and church can be visited again. The tower is one of the highest / biggest, easy access and up top we found a brave cat. The church is very beautiful, with possibility to visit the attic. 10 lei for the access including museum. Toilette like medieval times which is almost filled up is not cool, mein freunds!
