It was very nice, lots to see, lots of music, very tastefull things to eat and drink. Not everything was accesable for me using a wheelchair, but nevertheless we had a great time!!

Basic and historical roman settlement and a nice area for a relaxed walk and a picnic..
Carlos Brioso — Google review
It's a very modest archaeological site, since it's rather small, but whoever created this place did an excellent job.
I visited with my family on a Sunday morning, so there were no activities, nor could we visit the inside of the recreated stone dwellings, but there was still lots to see and appreciate. The explanatory plaques were very well thought out and provided relevant information both to the casual visitor as well as the more curious observer.
The area is beautiful, with staggering views and the archaeological remains are well-preserved. My children thoroughly enjoyed everything they saw, and my eldest is studying ancient peoples in school so this place was perfect for her to learn more. There are picnic areas nearby that are well worth having lunch at when the weather is nice. Keep in mind that small kids will have to kept very close by as there are lots of places where they can fall and hurt themselves.
I highly recommend this, especially for families with children who want to know a bit more about history.

Very cool. Small museum of good quality. Well staged parking and trails to view the structures. A few thatched and reconstructed homes from pre-Roman through first century CE.
And of course...a church built on top of it.

This medieval square tower in Barcelos, made of thick granite blocks (reaching two meters), was founded in the 15th century by the 8th Count of Barcelona. The decoration is from the Renaissance with a cornice, gutter and merlon. The tower offers great views of Barcelos central square.
Barcelos has always been known for its pottery, especially the "figurado", which is a comic figurine with accented features depicting traditional peasants, folk musicians and also images of the Nativity scene. The tower has an impressive exhibition
Sarmite Balode — Google review
The tower is a center for the sale and exhibition of handicrafts. The interior is very well restored. At the top has an outdoor platform that has a magnificent view over the city
Jose Tavares — Google review
Cool stairs that take you to the top from where's a great view on the city center. There is a museum exhibit inside on the history of 'Gallo'

The castle of Guimarães is a 10th century-medieval fortification located on a hill in the city of Guimarães, Portugal. It is one of the city's top landmarks and evokes the exciting mixture of legend, poetry and heroism that surrounds the beginning of Portuguese history.
Great tourist attraction. Only €6 for the tour and visit of the medieval castle. The house itself is well rebuild and renovated. Highly recommend to stop by when visiting Guimarães.
ieva Kaveckiene — Google review
Very informative historical castle. Make sure to take your own water as there is only one vending machine, which was out of order.
Lisa SIMONS — Google review
Although it looks impressive from the outside, other than a walk around the walls there is little to see other than some great views of the hills. You can buy a combined ticket for €6 to see castle and Palace but you do come away quite underwhelmed. In the space outside of castle some benches would be a good addition.
Andrew Long — Google review
It's a historic site of great importance for Guimarães and the whole of Portugal and the mighty walls and towers, are very well preserved...the imposing original fortress was built in the 10th century to defend the Monastery of Santa Maria from the incursions of the Moors. It's located on a hill overlooking the city below...Inside of the castle, you can climb inside the tribute tower, while visiting a small exhibition that tells us the history of the castle and of Portugal. The tour is well organized and takes little time. Entrance to the visit is paid: The ticket is very cheap, only 2 euros, so it's worth visiting the interior.
D?rio Silva — Google review
Already reviewed. Beautifully preserved castle in the birthplace of Portugal with beautiful tapestries and furnishings statues and everything you’d expect out of touring and medieval castle. Highly recommended to go to this beautiful, historic city
Patrick Ohearn Ph.D. — Google review
The Guimarães has important place in history of Portugal and the castle has in history of Guimarães. About 1000 years old the castle has still been maintained well for the visitors. Platforms have been erected to make it easy for visitors. Some wonderful views of the city can be had from this castle. Please take a combo ticket with Duque’s palace.
Praveen Mehrotra — Google review
The castle is well-conserved, and it’s a great place to visit. Come on! It’s a castle from the X Century. It’s worth the visit.
I don't give it a 5 star because the visit lacks some more info signs/points. It would be nice to have some more signs with some info.
Efi — Google review
Sadly the castle is closed for renovations. You can access for free the lower part of it and there is a very nice 360 virtual reality experience (paid). However the rest of sites is very good
Gilad P — Google review
It’s only four stars because is currently under renovations!! There is scaffolding and construction noise… on the upside you can still go in and see a small part of the interior for free
Shane Kruse — Google review
Basically closed apart from an interesting and rather amateur 3D experience about an important battle in Portugal's struggle for independence.
Stephen Walker — Google review
The castle was closed for construction when we arrived, so we could only walk around the outside of it. The castle is extremely impressive, and appears to be in excellent condition. We will go back again when we can see the inside, too.
Nola Kucsera — Google review
Given the weather, fog, and winter colours, the castle and palace looked absolutely eerie and beautiful! It cost 6 euros for the combined ticket and both can be done in an hour. The palace is original and underwent some renovations but the castle was completely rebuilt in the 1940s. There's not much to see actually and the outside is way better than the inside. We couldn't go to the very top of the tower as it was cordoned off. There is free parking around the area.

The Palace of Duques de Bragança is a historic residence in the North of Portugal, which was restored and transformed into a museum in the mid-20th century. The first floor is the official residence for the President of Portugal when he travels to the North of Portugal. The museum contains notable tapestries and porcelain from the medieval era, as well as period interiors.
A very impressive castle, a variety of views of life in the castle, various objects: swords, pistols and other weapons. Pictures on the walls showing historical events. A very interesting tour. The castle has undergone impressive renovation and restoration.
Yossi Gabay — Google review
An interesting and beautiful construction, amazing details on the roof structure (one of the best parts for me). And beautiful chapel. Unfortunately the objects in the rooms were arranged more like a museum and I couldn't imagine how things were organized back then.
Thaissa da Rocha — Google review
A well kept museum with a collection of weaponry and personal belongings of the Duke, though they're not very extensive.
The route is very clear and both the building and the collection are well preserved.
The informational sheets are sadly not very informative and I wasn't aware of any guided visit option. So the experience is a bit lacking in my opinion. Regardless, I'd like to give a five star for how well the staff have been maintaining this place.
If you want to know more about the history of Guimarães, I recommend visiting Museu Casa da Mémoria de Guimarães for more detailed and interactive information.
Febriana — Google review
Reconstructed palace that King Alfonso Henrique stayed at. It’s great value - a combined ticket with the nearby castle is €6. The online guide (scan the info boards in the rooms) was useful and informative.
Greg Davis — Google review
Beautiful place, well maintained, great art pieces, papers in each chamber to explain the art pieces and history. Well worth the tour. Seniors get discounted entry
Jim J. — Google review
Impressive granite Palace which you can buy a combined ticket to also see castle for €6. Rooms are well laid out and overall quality of building maintenance is good. Building has lifts so it's totally disabled friendly. Could do with a tea room.
Andrew Long — Google review
it looks as fake as it is beautiful. really kept well, visiting this palace is a step back in time. it is preferable to take advantage of the offer 6 € palace + castle. negative point we didn't have a guide and you have to do it yourself
Carlo Pisapia — Google review
Beautiful, well-preserved palace with many interesting features. If interested in also seeing Castelo de Guimarães, get tickets here because there’s no separate ticketing office at the castle. It was very nice of the staff to allow me to leave my backpack with them while looking around but perhaps they should consider introducing some lockers.
Olivera L — Google review
The gothic architecture of this palace is very linear and clean, so, for me, nice. And I really appreciated the use of wood.

Just beautiful The Ducal Palace of the Braganza or Palace of the Dukes of Braganza (Portuguese: Paço dos Duques de Bragança) is a medieval estate and former residence of the first Dukes of Braganza, located in the historical centre of Guimarães (Oliveira do Castelo), in the north-western part of Portugal. It's very well kept. You can buy tickets for the museum of the Alberto Sampaio as well, and receive a small discount.

Well preserved and filled with relevant and period artifacts. The history of the shared Palace is and intriquiging story. The Chapel inside is one of the highlights not to miss
Bondiamo — Google review
An impressive palace with a rich interior... The Palace of the Dukes of Braganza (Paço dos Duques de Bragança) in Guimarães was the ancestral home of the powerful Braganza family.
Petra G — Google review
AMAZING! This castle is different from most of medieval castle you may ever seen. It has been completely renovated and really gives you a true feeling of middle ages atmosphere and way if living. The wooden ceiling is simply stunning and so is the chapel in the palace. For students/young tickets I suggest not to buy the combination ticket palace + castle (6€), but pay for the individual tickets with the reduction (total 3,00€)!
Michele Coluccia — Google review
Absolutely magnificent. You can simply feel the glaze and magnificence of the past from each and everywhere in the palace. Make sure you visit all the rooms including the chapel. The fee is only 5 euros. Strongly recommended.

Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira is a church from the late 15th century that boasts exquisite Gothic architecture and ornate baroque artwork. This historic site is a stunning place to visit, frequented by many people during evenings and weekends. The square surrounding the church offers plenty of dining options, while the charming nearby alleyways provide ample opportunities for taking photographs. Overall, this beautiful church is definitely worth visiting if you happen to be in town.

The Penha Cable Car in Guimaraes operates seasonally, so it's important to check its opening hours. Visitors can enjoy a smooth ride to the top of Penha, with stunning views of the city and surrounding park. The ticket prices are reasonable, and there are options for return or one-way trips. While at the top, visitors can explore the beautiful park and forest, as well as dine at nearby restaurants.
Good service. Nice view

The cable cars are scorching hot and windows are so dirty you barely see anything. It’s cheaper to take an uber up to the peak and you have the exact same views. We noticed that the main use of the cable car if for bicycles riders to take their equipment up top. One way is €4.
Eyal Cohen — Google review
Great views from the top. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic ride to the top of Penha. At the time of us going it cost €7,50 for a return ticket for adults and €4 for one way for non residents of Guimaraes. Children 12 and over pay full adult prices which is why I gave only four stars - they really should pay children’s prices like in most other places.

The Igreja de São Gonçalo is a notable 16th-century catholic church renowned for its Manueline (Baroque) facade, intricate pipe organ, and sculpted tombs. It was built on the site of an old monastery and is located near a Roman bridge, making it a unique and historically significant place. The church is dedicated to Saint Goncalo, a Dominican friar who played an essential role in the development of Amarante.
Wonderful church and monastery. It worth a visit.

An impressive manueline (baroque) 16th century church dedicated to Saint Gonçalo (1187-1259) a Dominican friar who played an important role in the development of Amarante. The city’s picturesque bridge over the Taméga River is attributed to the saint’s efforts.

Praça da República (Largo de São Gonçalo) 3, 4600-038 Amarante, Portugal
Ponte de São Gonçalo, a graceful bridge in Amarante, Portugal, was built in 1790 to replace the original 13th-century structure that was destroyed by flooding. Made of golden stone and adorned with Baroque spires, the bridge holds historical significance as the site of a heroic battle in 1809 against Napoleon's invading French army. It is often depicted alongside the monastery on postcards of Amarante.
We stopped here on a tour. It is very pretty! We took pictures and we also got to check out the local market near by. You can also find a public bathroom at this market in case you’re looking for one.
Donna Neftin — Google review
A very classical city. Leisurely, romantic and comfortable! It's worth spending a day browsing slowly. A cup of coffee and simple snacks while enjoying the beautiful river and pedestrians!
Frank Tsai — Google review
A trully look alike romanic bridge that allegedly was rebuilt by Saint Gonçalo, in the same place of a original one who collapsed due to a flood. Nearby there is the church and convent in honour of the Saint, inside church's cloisters the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso museum was developed, he is know for futurism and modernism works, some of this works and caricatures can be seen inside. As curiosity Amadeo was a contemporary of Pablo Picasso and Gaudi in the city of Paris.
A parking area can be found close to the church so its possible to park nearby and cross it by car. The river landscape, bridge, museum and other places to visit are very conveniently close. Some nice coffee shops and traditional bakeries and restaurants are in this area, a must visit city!

In my opinion, one of the best things in Vila do Conde. The ship (which is a new one, but built exactly like an antique one) is definitely worth a visit. Even if you won't have a guide or explanation signs, the ship is very well made and makes you feel the atmosphere of the Portuguese sailors. The ticket has to be bought in the museum in front of the ship and it's just 2€ (you will also gets access to the museum)

Built in 2007 in the waters of Rio Ave, the replica of the 16th century ship, built by the shipyards Samuel & Filhos, LDA, from Vila do Conde, is an important and precious complement to the Museum Régia Museum nucleus - Museum of Shipbuilding. In addition to an important element of tourist and playful attraction, it has a pedagogical function, because, built with the greatest respect for the scientific investigations of the responsibility of Admiral Rogério D 'Oliveira, incorporates the ancestral knowledge of carpenters and calafates of the VilaConde watches.

Replica of a 1500s ship. Interesting to visit, but hard to imagine how life on the boat might have been like, because there is no labelling whatsoever. Good for kids, as they are allowed to climb the many ladders and explore every nook and cranny. Not a good option if one has any type of mobility issues. Amarante Water Park is a thrilling destination with high-speed rides, slides, and pools set against scenic hillside views. The Tamega River offers clear waters and natural beauty, perfect for water sports like kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. The varying currents cater to both beginners and experienced adventurers. Visitors can enjoy different pools including an open-air large cold water jacuzzi and a variety of water slides for all ages.
Amazing waterpark, it is the first one that we visited in Portugal and it was a bit crounded, but it is normal based on the weather (almost 40 degrees).
Yellow slide queue is the biggest one and took about 35 to 40 min on queue (and it is not the best one), but in general, you can play on all of the slides in 2 to 3 hours.
Deivid Patrick — Google review
Bought our tickets online few days before coming, saved a bit and didn't had to queue at the entrance. Early arrival is recommended to be able to get chairs and nice spot. Many people bring cool boxes with food for a day, but if you don't bring it, food prices are good, especially for a place like this. A bit of disappointment - long queues for the slides. Overall enjoyed our day out there.
Kristina Tamulaityte — Google review
The kids had a great time.
Lots of people made the waiting on each ride between 15 and 45 minutes.
Could not ride in every slide, by the lack of time.
You have to pay for the use of chairs and umbrellas.
The rides look in good condition and safe

Great place located in a mountain by the river of douro not far away from porto town. Hence, it is possible going by bus and taxi to the park if you do not have an own vehicle. Tiago D'Herbe — Google review
loved it. lots of different pools to choose from, there even is an open air large cold water jacuzzi. water slides for all ages and some very fun radical slides, all well monitored. the downside is that you have lots of stairs to climb between the exit and entrance of the adult slides. food court is very organized, macdonalds style, with a variety of things to eat. there are smaller cabins with snacks around.large parking available too.
Filipe Freitas — Google review
Very nice water slides. Also there are other types of attractions. In order to refill the tank you can choose from a couple of snack bars.
The only improvement point in my opinion is the waiting time under the sun for most of the slides. The processing time could be shortened still without impacting one's security.
An advice, be there not later than 10 o'clock

We bought a round trip for 10€ and it saved us a long climb up and down from the Jardim da Morro. The walk along the quai on the Gaia side is lovely and was far less crowded, plus they have a nice long wooden boardwalk that goes all the way to the first bridge. (Photos from inside the cable car)

Great experience - easy to get there with the Porto Metro. Staff was very kind and helpful. You get a nice photo of yourself in the cable car, all packed in a Porto touristic guide - only 10 euros. They have a nice souvenir shop too.

Quick but fun experience! Line can be long so consider buying your tickets online. Good news is the cable cars can seat something like 6 people so most groups ride together. The cars also move at a good pace keeping the line moving.
We used the lift to ride from the rivers edge to the top of the historic bridge then walked across to Porto. Beautiful views all the way.
Tip:
1) You can ride one way or round trip.
2) Lots of restaurants at the rivers edge.
Steven Redmond — Google review
The ride is €7 one way and lasts about 2 minutes. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to ride with others. It is cheaper to take an uber back to the top but I guess it’s nice to have crossed it off the list.
Sarah Bedrosian — Google review
What a VIEW! Easy walk from the Sao Bento station to the bridge foe entry to the station. I had a Porto card so it got me a few dollars off the ride. I just went one way so I could walk back across the lower bridge. They try to sell you a picture of you on the cable car which I didn't purchase and they weren't pushy about it. Amazing views a fairly short ride, and felt very secure in the car.
Elle Young — Google review
It was a fun ride up and down with the cable car. After a long walk through Porto during summer and after crossing the bridge the cable cars seem to be the better choice than walking down. They also provide great views of the port wine harbour part of Porto and across the river side.

Cable car which is €7 single or €10 return to go up or down between the Ribeira. There is a cable car every minute and the journey lasts about 3 minutes. Well worth a visit if you do not want to walk and get great views too of the river.
Vin Chenzo — Google review
The Caia Cable Car is a nice break from walking around the city. It offers a short trip along the river and provides a good view of the city. However, it's not cheap.
Wulfert Zevenboom — Google review
It's one of the best experiences in Porto to ride on Gaia Cable Car. It is clean inside the cable car. It allows people to have a larger view span around. I was lucky that on the return trip, I got it private without other passengers.
Lina Nauli — Google review
Took the cable car 🚡, one way up. Costs €7 adult. The ride is quick; 2 minutes, but you get great views of the city and river. Takes you to the best site seeing viewpoint for the sights of porto.

Port wine production began in the Douro Valley in the north of Portugal in the 12th century. Today, Calem is the leading brand in Portugal and one of Portugal's most popular tourist destinations. The winery tours explain the history and production of port wine.
Amazing experience. I thought it would be very touristy but in the end I found it very cozy and far from generic. The guide was so into the subject and keen on explaining everything. Learned so much interesting stuff about wine, wine production and how it’s related to Porto and Portugal. I recommend it A LOT.
Plus, the wine tasting was so pleasant and nice.
Luciana Wolosker — Google review
The place and the guide are nice. However, you won't learn much about the Porto wine. It would have been interesting to get more explanations on the harvesting, blending and other processes... Instead of showing the company "catalog", I am sure there are wonderful photos and videos to share.
Gregory S — Google review
Overall good experience, but nothing over the top. The place is actually small.
The visit starts with a small museum, followed by then entering the caves where you can see the barrels.
The tour guide was friendly and provided detailed information about the history, composition, and preservation of the wine.
The tour concludes with a wine tasting experience, with the option of trying either three or two wines, depending on the package you choose.

Visited here as part of a yellow bus package which also included a river cruise and a hop on hop off bus for 2 days which was only €18 per person really good value. You will need to book a tour to ensure a place and that it is in your own language. The tour was good and lasted about an hour and a bit. It was interesting and informative we got to taste 2 ports which were lovely. Well worth a visit nice tour guide and a nice place overall. Children are welcome and get soft drinks at the tasting.

Great tour very interactive and concise. They had some of the best wine I've tasted on my trip so far. Definitely taking a bottle back home. I would absolutely recommend a stop here if you're in porto
Maurice Simpson — Google review
Great tour with an entertaining host (who no doubt is bored of the same jokes every time but tells them well nonetheless!). This tour goes a bit more into what the different ports are and how they are made. Very informative and well worth the money. Honestly was a bit surprised because I thought it’s locations would lend itself to being a tourist trap but it’s actually excellent.

Tour was lovely, we did the English tour. You definitely get your monies worth! Their port wine here is some of our favorite. We ended up buying a bottle, the travel sized gift set, and a shirt all for under €40. Then went up to their tasting room and got two glasses of port wine for €8. Great prices!
Carrington White — Google review
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Ports were amazing and I'm not much of a port drinker. Do yourself a favor and get the premium ticket... The extra 3 euros are worth it!
Erin Stelter — Google review
Relate to the guided tour, in my opinion it’s not worthy it.
The tour takes place in basically two big rooms, the explanation takes forever, and our guide seemed a little lost. It looked like he had to keep talking to make it longer than it would be.
The places are nice, you can see some stuff but nothing special.
The group was too big so in certain moments we couldn’t see the projections because there was not room for us in front of it anymore.
At the end we had a taste of the wine.
But paying 15,00 euros for the ticket, I believe it could be better and the groups should be smaller. I recommend other caves than this one.

Was a great visit!
The guide was very engaging and friendly! We were able to explore a little bit with caution and the tour was very informative. The wine tasting was fun and as a solo traveler I got to interact with people chatting over fantastic wine. We were taught how to taste it and what to look out for. You exit through a shop where you can buy authentic port wine ending off a great visit!

Absolutely incredible tour and a must if you ask me! You’ve got to have port in Porto!
Tour guide was knowledgeable and the tours last around 30 minutes before enjoying two tasting ports!
Great tour if your into Ports and Tawny...good experience, lots of tasting and winery is beautiful location. Lots of good eateries right and left on main Street. Walking distance to gondola or Tram.

Museum and the tour are very interesting and interactive. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative, amazing English. Wine tasting was good, bought exclusive tasting (3 types of wine) and the guide explained all the details of wine we were tasting.
Would definitely recommend if you find yourself in Porto!

lovely tour and easy to make while in Porto. it lasted about 1h and we really learned a bit about the wine history in Douro valley. at the end we had a tasting and, of course, we bought quite some bottles to go!

Porto Wine tasting with a lovely Fado concert, what else to ask? Just perfect! what a great venue.
Wine tasting guided tour to know more about the caves, the porto wine production and how this marvelous experinece is done.
Long family traditions, just a pure nectar, the vintage, the colheita, ruby or tawny, fantastic experience in Oporto.
javier rivero — Google review
Cute 30 minute tour with different pricing tiers (which affect which wines you will taste at the end and whether or not they will be paired with chocolate etc, its all clear pricing when you get to the ticket counter). The museum at the start was neat you get to wander around in there for 15 minutes before the tour begins. It was a bit cramped as we had a full tour of 48 people and a lot of the spaces we go into are not super wide. Comparing the tour with Ferreira caves I would say the advantage of this tour is that it is shorter (ferreira is an hour) so you do get to do the tasting earlier. Disadvantage of Calem tour is that theres less history shared about the family who ran the business, its more just a tour about production of port wine generally. Another plus for the Calem is that they do have a terrace out front with water view where you can just go either before or after your tour and order glasses of port as well as different tiers of tastings.
Campbell Cross — Google review
We popped in for a port tasting by ourselves, not in a group. We chose the basic port tasting for €17, which was a good value for a dry white, ruby, and tawny port. Our tasting guide explained the tasting notes for each port. The tasting room is beautiful and was quiet at the time we were there.
Christine Bradshaw — Google review
Short but fun tour. I didn't know much about how Porto was made and still had a fun time learning about the process. The best part is of course the tasting. You sit around a table with the other visitors. We stayed for an hour discussing with strangers and it was a very fun exchange. We ended up buying 3 Portos to bring back home. I think this is an activity anyone would find fun to do.

Sandeman Lodge is a winery located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. It is one of the most well-known brands of port in the world, and its large white building on the riverbank is one of the first stops for many visitors. The winery has a stylish outdoor patio with stunning views of the river and city. There are also tastings and tours of the cellars available.
I did the 1790 visit at the Sandeman caves, including a testing of 5 port wines. I would totally recommend this interesting visit; my visit was done in French by a lovely guide tour who spoke so well in French and was really friendly (kudos to you!). The dress-up of the guide was a nice touch, and I also appreciated the recap video at the end of the tour. The port wine tasting was also well explained and you can drink at your own path, staying a bit longer if needed.
Moreover, kudos to the whole team who were friendly and flexible as they allowed us to change our tickets to be able to do the tour another day with friends.

I was positively surprised by this. The tour was interesting and while a little cheesy with the don outfit it was entertaining and the guide was open to any questions related to port. The tasting was good too - great to taste a few options side by side. Wish the chocolate tasting tour wasn't as expensive, though - would've loved to try that but not at €60.
Maria Neumayer — Google review
Visited in early January, after the Holidays, so we were able to get same day tickets for the English tour. Would recommend online booking days in advance during busy season.
Definitely a different experience. My husband owns a winery in the USA, and we've done countless winery/brewery/distillery tours across the USA, with many of our friends owning businesses in the industry. Many of these group tours can end up being boring for us as we know the process well, and our questions are a bit in depth for the average tourist. However, we wanted to see Port in person and a new Lisboeta friend we met over NYE told us this is the one we should go to out of the countless on the same strip.
And we are very glad we did! Getting the background of this very different Port Cellar and seeing the barrels in person was possibly the best we've done yet! Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Plus, the gift shop was very reasonably priced! Such a pleasant surprise coming from the USA where usually trinkets are way over-priced then you can get elsewhere on these tours!

We
We’re staying nearby & after reading a couple of guidebooks, decided this was the best port lodge tour for us.
We opted for the 1790 tour which lasts about an hour, after which, you get to taste 6 different Sandman port wines.
The tour itself was interesting and informative. Our guides English was good, he was knowledgeable and entertaining. I can recommend this tour.
Martin Lingard — Google review
The tour was good and a good price. I would buy online before. People tried to walk in and weren’t able to get in because the tour was full. The tour is a good length only about an hour and then the tasting after is pretty quick. Also if you take the time in the morning but the later one just know you will be hurried out because the places closes for lunch. So when we went we didn’t have a long time only like 20 min.
You get three tastings at the end and it’s good then you can go through the store.
I probably wouldn’t return only because there are so many to see but it was good.

I couldn’t visit the power wine cellar. We didn’t book in advance .
However I have tried their amazing wines. The tawny which is aged 20+ years was amazing. The Ruby was also just as good as that. You will fall in love with Porto if you taste these amazing wines.

Nice Port wine cellar in Gaia, just across the Duro river from Porto, Portugal. This was our second favorite cellar to visit, behind Ferreira. They have a nice outdoor seating area where you could order drinks while waiting for a tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered several questions. Did you know that Vintage Port can still age well even when bottled?

Before coming to Porto, my knowledge regarding Porto wine was limited to Calem.
Me and my wife wanted to visit a wine cellar and were intrigued by the silhouette of Sandeman looming over the quays.
And what a good visit !
For 17€, we discovered the chilly wine cellars and had a taste of 3 different portos (all of them delicious).
We loved it !

I’ve sat outside on a chilly evening enjoying two glasses of port. Tawny from recommendation of the barman and then a ruby. Waiters are knowledgeable and provide world class service. It was hands down the best service I received in Portugal. Make sure you pop in for a tasting of their own port while enjoying the view!

Took the English tour which lasted abt an hour and the sample tasting for 10Y, 20Y, 30Y and 40Y Tawny. Informative session on the difference between Tawny and Ruby as well as the history of it. Love port wines. If you have no time to visit Douro Valley, this cellar visit is probably the next best alternative since it is conveniently located.

We picked The 1790 Tour (25€ per person) and it was everything we hoped it would be and even more. From amazing and compelling stories about history of Sandeman brand, to the very informative and inspiring tasting of five great port vines - it's a deal straight out of heaven. Another highligh was Miss Aniela, our fellow countryman, who did an absolutely amazing job leading the tour and making it that much more interesting. Like said before - for 25€ it's not a deal, it's a steal!
Filip Wiejek — Google review
Great tour, I only took the basic tour and tasting, the fancier aged port taste and tours in English are all booked solid for the next week. Plan ahead if you want those.
Jo Hastings — Google review
The tour itself was both informative and entertaining, with knowledgeable guides leading us through the fascinating history of Sandeman and the art of winemaking. The highlight, of course, was the generous wine sampling session that followed. They didn't hold back on the pours, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the rich flavors of Porto wines.
One thing to note is that the alcohol content in some of the wines was surprisingly high, so if you're a light drinker, pace yourself. However, for those who appreciate a robust and full-bodied wine, you're in for a treat.
The outdoor area for cocktails added another layer of enjoyment to the experience. The ambiance was relaxed, and it was the perfect spot to unwind after the tour. The selection of cocktails was impressive, and the skilled bartenders knew how to craft the perfect drink.

The wine cellar at Graham's Port Lodge is one of the most interesting places to visit in Portugal if you are interested in wine. It contains more than 15,000 oak barrels of various ages, many dating back to the 1800s. You can also visit a museum with antique books and wine-related objects, as well as a room where you can try samples of some of the oldest and most expensive port wines in the world.
The tour was absolutely amazing. I was the only visitor who booked the earliest tour and the amazing Anna gave me a 1:1 tour. Graham is still family owned and one can feel the strong sense of commitment to quality and legacy. Definitely one of the absolute highlights in Porto!

This is probably the best high-end, luxury Port wine tasting that we’ve done. You have to make reservations for the tour, with a great Port wine tasing at the end. Graham’s is probably our favorite Port wine, although we’re always discovering! Sometimes we’re in the mood for simple, cheaper Port wines. But when we want something really outstanding, we usually go with Graham’s.
Jim McCarthy — Google review
Graham's has the most beautiful views to enjoy from their tasting room. The staff we encountered were not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. They always have a Vintage of the day available by glass for 10€ which is a great way to try a Vintage without committing to an entire bottle. There is a restaurant on the same property, Vinum, and it also has a cocktail patio to enjoy the breathtaking views. The walk up to Graham's is not as easy as some of the other port houses but it is worth it.
Tiffany Giese — Google review
Amazing location, views and beautifully designed building and terraces…what a shame about the service! The terrace is split between dining and relaxed seating and almost segregates guests. We wanted to wait for dining but cannot snack or eat on the terrace (except for a couple of bites available). No table service, you wait at the bar for your drinks that you pay for before taking your own drinks back to the seating. No update on the table so after 2 hours of waiting we left. A real shame as the setting is amazing and well thought out! It could be so great!
jose cortizo — Google review
Graham's is a top Port wine lodge in Porto. The tasting experience starts off with a video presentation that takes you through the history of the company and how it came to be one of the most iconic Port wine brands today. You are then guided on a tour of the active cellars, right in amongst all the barrels and vats of port wine. It's dark, musty and a delightful experience. The tour guide gives more information about the wines and answers any questions along the way.
To end off the experience you are taken to the tasting room where you can sample all of the port wines you learned about. Each from different ages and prices. Add to this some cheeses and tapas and you have a very enjoyable experience that not only teaches you all about the port wine industry but allows you to sample all the wines before you buy.
The terrace is a love spot to enjoy a light meal and more wine (as you now which one you prefer and can confidently order more), and features a sweeping view of the beautiful douro river and city of Porto.

Very nice port wine cellar, on the Gaia side of Porto. The location is on the mountain with a great view of Porto. Noble ambience and very nice garden. In addition, class wines and friendly service. Unfortunately, we had too little time, we would have liked to stay longer. If we visit Porto again, we will come back!

We visited Porto for a couple days and Graham's was our favorite Port Lodge that we visited of the many that we tried. We visited from the USA and wanted to try lots of the bigger port houses that distributed in the USA so we could buy some when we got home and didn't want to worry about shipping or traveling back with bottles in our suitcase.
Graham's is one of the most historic port lodges and everything about the tour & tasting was top notch. I went in thinking I liked the older Tawny's but after leaving gained a much greater appreciation for the classic Ruby's after learning about them and tasting them. We bought some of the 2017 vintage bottles at home and plan to cellar them for a very long time. When we finally enjoy them in the future we'll look back fondly on our visit to Graham's Port Lodge.

Graham’s wine tasting was a very pleasant experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable and excited about wine. He was able to answer all our questions in a funny and informative way.
The tasting itself was nice, we went for the vintage room which had much nicer vibe than the main tasting room and the wine was tasty!
We went to Graham’s in September, but I felt like I wanted to write a review as we really enjoyed our time in there.
Petra Kamenicka — Google review
What an experience!! A morning tour and tasting became lunch at Vinum. The walk there is all uphill and the signage can be confusing to get to the tasting reception, which is at the rear of the the venue. However once inside, I was spoilt with the history and passion behind Graham's which I was unaware of. We were blessed to have Monica as our guide who is a fountain of knowledge, but second to her passion, love and enthusiasm for Port that she's happy to pass on to anyone that will listen. She did our tour in immaculate English and she's an asset to Graham's and their establishment.
This is worth the time that you can spend here and there was not a single bad port out of the 7 tasted. The history, passion and attention to details and perfection is passed along from the brand, put into bottles and inherent in their staff. Service was good at the tour, tasting and restaurant. Regarding pricing seen in a previous review, I took photo's of prices of the bottles I wanted at other stores I went past in Porto prior to this tasting, and found the pricing cheaper per bottle at the on site shop. If you're passionate about heritage, life and Port, then please visit and hope that you get Monica as your guide!

Taylor's Port is a highly prestigious wine cellar in Porto, and it is no surprise that it possesses one of the best wine cellars in Portugal. Founded in 1692 (yes, really!), Taylor's Port is one of the first brands to open its doors to the public in the 1980s, an era when few foreign tourists visited Portugal. Here, you can explore the cellar at your own pace thanks to a audio guide which allows for a free flow of information.
The tour is decent and gives a bit of background to Taylor’s as well as some interesting snippets regarding constructions of the vineyards and wine making process. But the highlight is the tasting garden which is a lovely spot and spent longer than I thought I would! And the rooster is very friendly!
Adam Russell — Google review
We booked a tour and the you get a wine tasting at the end in their bar. The tour was really interesting and with audio guides you can choose how much and what you wish to listen to. I recommend it. Then you can access the garden with the bar and the shop. The tour include the tasting of the 2 cheapest wine they produce. But if you want to eat something - even nuts- you have to order. We did not particularly like the shop, full of expensive merchandise. But the tour is indeed interesting.

I really liked that it was a self guided tour. That way you can go at your own pace and dive as deep into the details as suits your interests. And they do provide a lot of detail, covering Taylor’s history, the Douro Valley, and of course port itself from the vine to the glass.
We concluded with the tasting in the lovely garden, serenaded by the resident rooster and peacock. We supplemented the tasting with a 20 year tawny port (wonderful) and a selection of cheeses, olives and bread with olive oil from their estate (we’re taking a bottle home). Most enjoyable.

Enjoyed a self guided audio tour at the home of Taylor Port, established in 1692 - followed by a Port tasting and glass of wine afterwards in the well appointed gardens overlooking Porto! We’re also introduced to a chilled white port and tonic water which was amazing! Highly recommend. Staff were professional and friendly - a wonderful way to “Wine down” after exploring the busy streets of Porto below! For an enhanced experience, plan a late afternoon to enjoy a spectacular sunset on a good day!

We only took part in the tasting of Port on the veranda and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very welcoming and informative. The family of peacocks were really putting on a show with plenty of family drama. It was early February but warm in the sun and the magnolias were blossoming. I appreciated the insect hotel exhibit and the port was amazing.

As a non-drinker, my first visit to a wine cellar was uncertain territory. But at Taylor's, the experience was unexpectedly delightful. Their self-guided audio tour allowed me to explore at my own pace, although I stumbled momentarily when I missed an audio session. The tour covered the company's history and the nuances of port wine impressively, with great photo opportunities along the way. The tour concluded with a beautiful garden for wine tasting, accompanied by impeccable service. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend this unique experience.

This is not just a place to taste port wine BUT an experience! We went later in the afternoon and the sunset was magical. The gardens were lovely and the wine- well good enough to toss some clothes to make room in the suitcase! A true treasure and so thankful we were advised to visit. The peacocks that greeted us were a bonus.

The tour was amazing as it tells you everything about port wine making and its history. One part was about smelling the different aromas that port wine could have.

Nice place to sit at the end to enjoy your two glasses of port. And a can of chip dry and tonic to take away with you. Passadiços do Paiva Trailhead (Areinho) offers a stunning 5.5-mile wooden walkway along the Paiva River, providing breathtaking views of the valley. The well-maintained 8km trail allows for side-by-side walking and leads to the Arouca 516m suspension bridge, although reservations are necessary due to limited availability. This picturesque route showcases untouched landscapes, crystal-clear river waters, and endangered European species.
A great 8km (5mile) walk that is well maintained and allows you to walk two abreast on a very clear path. There is the option of taking in the Arouca 516m suspension bridge but you will need to book ahead as places are very limited. The walk itself is a great way to see the Paiva valley and gets you close to nstire.
If you are walking in one direction then the majority of people walk downstream. This involves a 1.5 km walk up to the highest point of the trail followed by 0.5km of descent via 600+steps and the remainder of the trail is a meander to the end. Jeeps and taxis are available at both ends and it is a 12km trip back to the start via the road.
If you are doing a return trip then start wherever suits you best just be prepared to go up relentlessly for 0.5km at some stage. There are restaurants at both ends and plenty of river beaches and alike to stop at for a picnic /rest /swim!
We went in late March on a Monday and parking was easy and the route was not busy but in the height of the summer they can get 3,000 people a day which may take some of the enjoyment out of the day. Parking is limited and there are very limited alternative parking locations within 1km. If you are thinking of going in the summer I can imagine a very early start would not only avoid the congestion (road and trails) but also be cooler and more interesting light.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did

5.5 mile hike along the Paiva River. The sheer length of the decking walkway is unbelievable, allowing safe access along the banks. There are stops along the trail for swimming, etc as well. A few snack bars were also located at the trail main points to allow refueling, water, a snack, etc. If you here bells, it's not dehydration, look around and you'll see free range cows and goats. 😉

We only hiked the vertical section from the main road up to the base of the suspension bridge. Be prepared for about 300 metres of vertical gain, all in nice wooden stairs - definitely a knee workout. Beautiful views from the top. The suspension bridge now costs €12 (not €2 as it says on the poster), and you have to wait for an official tour time slot, which would have been an hours wait for us.

Beautiful hike with amazing views. The prices are pretty gougy and don't seem to be posted anywhere. Its 12€ to cross the suspension bridge or 2€ to just the paths 1 if you pay online.

The Paiva Walkways are located on the left bank of the Paiva River, in the municipality of Arouca, district of Aveiro. There are 8 km that provide an "untouched" tour, surrounded by landscapes of unparalleled beauty, in an authentic natural sanctuary, next to whitewater descents, quartz crystals and endangered species in Europe. The route extends between the river beaches of Areinho and Espiunca, with Vau beach between the two. The Paiva Walkways are an 8.7 km wooden walkway, built along the cliffs of from Paiva. They are located about 75 km southeast of Porto, within the Arouca Unesco Global Geopark. This incredible attraction, due to its unique beauty, has already been awarded 10 times in the World Travel Awards. The 516 Arouca Bridge is the longest suspended pedestrian bridge in the world, measuring 516 meters in length and 175 meters in height. Suspended on Tibetan-style steel cables, the 516 Arouca Bridge was a great challenge for Engineering. This impressive structure joins the banks of the Paiva River Gorge, over the beautiful Cascata das Aguieiras. Next to us, the Paiva River flows in an almost musical way, rising its flow in the winter period, extending the adrenaline of its wild waters to the adventurers of rafting and kayaking. Along the shore, the journey begins in the bathing areas of Areinho and/or Espiunca, and halfway along the route, the small paradise of the leisure and leisure area of Vau opens up in front of us. It's the eight kilometers of a lifetime. Project co-financed by «ON2 – O Novo Norte», through QREN and the European Regional Development Fund.

Great place to start this amazing place. Very nice officials available to support you with directions and online ticket purchase. Do not be too late, as the parking has limited spaces. Taxis are available at the end of the trail and bring you back for 16 euro (nov 2023)

Cardio check!? Room for improvement..
Eye check?! Some of the most beautiful scenery ever witnessed.
Enough internal space?! You will need it.
Trail shoes needed. For there will be some slippery conditions.

Absolutely beautiful place. You have to be somewhat fit but it's worth it. You also have a choice of where to start your walk and perhaps bypass the initial 500+ steps.

That's a wonderful hike along a wooden pathway that runs along the river. Unfortunately we arrived a bit late around 17:20 and we initially wanted to walk back and forth the 8kms.
It would take approximately 2h for us one way but we did not have enough time so we walked back from 3/4 of the route.
The walk is easy on the path but there are quite a lot of stairs and during a warm day it can become moderate difficulty.
There are beautiful sports along the way and if you have enough time it definitely is a relaxing hike! I highly recommend planning your visit here.

Absolutely gorgeous trail to cover. This trail consists of 2 times 9kms making it an 18km trail in total. It features some amazing sights such as the wooden stairs, the natural river flowing through the trail and the 516 meter long hanging bridge. The trail is pretty easy since the path is made of wood. We spend 2 hours hiking. There are taxi’s at each point which take you to your parking spot for around €15-€20

Santa Maria da Feira is a historic city in Portugal known for its rich cultural heritage and festivals. One of the lesser-known but fascinating festivals in Santa Maria da Feira is the "Viagem Medieval em Terra de Santa Maria" or the "Medieval Journey in the Land of Santa Maria de Feira .
The Viagem Medieval is a medieval-themed event that takes place annually in Santa Maria da Feira during the summer. It's one of the largest historical reenactment festivals in Europe. The city transforms into a medieval town, recreating the atmosphere, costumes, and lifestyle of the Middle Ages.
Visitors to the festival are transported back in time to the medieval period, with streets and squares filled with knights, troubadours, artisans, and performers, all dressed in authentic medieval clothing. The festival aims to provide an immersive experience that gives participants a glimpse into the past.
Throughout the city, elaborate scenarios are set up to recreate different aspects of medieval life, including markets, workshops, battles, and court scenes. Visitors can explore these scenarios, interact with characters, and witness various reenactments.
The festival offers a wide range of entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages. There are jousting tournaments, medieval music and dance performances, storytelling sessions, theater plays, and more. Traditional crafts and skills are also showcased, allowing attendees to learn about medieval craftsmanship.
Food is an essential part of the Viagem Medieval experience. Traditional medieval dishes and beverages are served at various stalls and eateries. It's a chance for visitors to indulge in authentic flavors from the past.
The festival is not just about entertainment; it also has educational value. Schools often organize trips to the festival, giving students the opportunity to learn about history in an engaging and interactive way.
The Viagem Medieval em Terra de Santa Maria is an enchanting and lesser-known festival that offers a unique blend of history, entertainment, and cultural immersion. It allows attendees to step into the shoes of medieval inhabitants and experience life as it was centuries ago

The Castle of Santa Maria da Feira is a historic stone fortress dating back to the 9th century, featuring unique towers and sweeping views from its walls and battlements. Situated on a hilltop, it offers a glimpse into the city's iconic landmarks and biodiversity-rich areas like Quinta do Castelo and Mata das Guimbras. The castle is well-maintained with easy access and parking available. Visitors can explore the castle's interior, including its towers, while enjoying panoramic views.
A wonderfully preserved Castle whose foundations go to the 10th century and saw layers upon layers or renovations and new tiers. Go to the underground tiny display of artifacts found on the premises from a broad range of centuries. Walk around the impressive battlements, and have a walk in the adjacent gardens.

I recommend visiting museum close to the church on entrance to park surrounding castle, before going to the castle itself!
Students ticket was for 1,50 €
Castle itself lies on top of a hill, solurrounded by big park which makes it naturally hidden and difficult to conquer, it have impressive architecture and well preserved walls as well as towers due to many renovations made in time, biggest restorations and changes made by king Manuel II in years 1907-1909. From which you can see impressive water tank and water collective infrastrucutre, multiple fireplaces inside of the castle.
First military constructions on that part was built by Roman Empire. Castle we see now is mostly from 11th century and was attacked by maurs multiple times and took important part in protecting lands from Libon to Porto, before for Roman Empire as well as later for Portugal.

A nice piece of history in Feira. Unfortunately, the castle seem to be lacking some weeds maintenance at the time of our visit and, people around cannot stop themselves from leaving trash in the premises. Very disgusting behaviour. Still great place to visit, hangout or even a picnic. Needs more love, though.

Make sure they do not have an additional event on the day you wish to visit. We paid twice once to get into grounds once to get into castle ended up costing 10€ each instead of 5€. Castle ok nothing special

This Templar castle is a must see. The tickets were very reasonable and there were alot of areas to look at and explore. Amazing architecture.
Paul Matteau — Google review
Easy access with parking immediately outside the entrance. Tickets sold in the souvenir shop, although nobody checking tickets before entering the castle, adult entry is only €3 which goes toward funding renovation, so would recommend doing the right thing and paying. The castle is in good condition, lots of access and little stairwells to climb for tower access etc. Views from the castle offer typically excellent panoramic views. Souvenir shop prices were very reasonable. In the main hall there is an information video showing intermittently in Portuguese language. A worthwhile trip out from Porto.
Chris Murray — Google review
Visiting the castle was full of rich history. They are doing renovations so it will probably be even better when they are done. I love seeing history taken care of. There are still a lot of things to see. The Chapel was beautiful and learning about the history of this gem was amazing. Highly recommend a stop.

Has quite a few things for kids to do but it was only open from 13.30-19.00 (not in the morning). Nice theater shows, dancing place and walking on trees. Ticket a bit expensive given that one needs to pay some activities inside. It was quite cold on the day we visited.

Best gay beach in the north, just park your car in the most north part of Furadouro beach & walk beside the camping area about 1km north.

Generally clean. Windy, medium to big waves (good for surf). Very cold water. For those that don't know the sea, can be dangerous. Please respect the flag system (red - don't get into the water; yellow - caution; green - safe for baths). During high season there are lifeguards on the watch. Parking can be really difficult on hot days and peak times. Good access to the sand (even for wheelchairs ou strollers), however, you may have to walk a little (5 min) to get to where you want to go. Amazing sunsets!

Termas de São Pedro do Sul is the largest spa in the Iberian Peninsula and a popular destination for thermal treatment, physiotherapy, and wellness. Reputable doctors increasingly recommend thermal treatment over medication. The spa offers various treatments including the Aqva Circuito Termal with a relaxing massage, thermal pools with jets, sauna, and steam rooms. The historical baths date back to Roman times and have been frequented by emperors seeking treatment.
Steamy fun in beautiful surroundings
The age old thermal baths in Sâo Pedro dates back to Roman times. Here emperors and those wishing to be treated as emperors have come for centuries without being disappointed. All though of a more recent date than the original baths, the flying faucet adds a humorist twist to the experience

VERY DISAPPOINTING. I called before arriving to get all the information but the receptionist couldn’t speak English. My daughter was really excited about going there so we decided that the 2 hour drive would be worth it. Getting there - again not possible to get information in English. We were asked to get back 2 hours later so we did. (Still hoping it would be worth it) Entrance for 2 is €85 including massage +€10 for swim caps. They refused giving my 12 year old daughter massage (even though it would be together with me and the therapist was female) They also refused lowering the price for her even though she wouldn’t enjoy the whole package.. But at this point after driving for 2 hours and waiting for 2 hours to get assistance in English we couldn’t not go…
I thought it would hopefully be high quality facilities.
The massage treatment was good, but:
- The bathrobes didn’t have belts
- The towels were stained
- The lockers were impossible to open and close
- The water in the (one) pool was luke warm
- There are only 2 showers in the dressing room so you’ll have to wait.
Basically my daughter paid €42 to swim in a luke warm pool for 20 minutes (with 3 points of jet massage)
Facilities not very attractive - absolutely no pampering feeling justifying the price.

Lovely visit to the Thermal Spa. Make sure you book in advance by calling or popping in as they get busy especially on a weekend. We opted for the Aqva Circuito Termal with a deep and relaxing massage. In total it cost €75 per person. We got an hour in the thermal pool with jets, sauna and steam room. The massage was relaxing and the staff were lovely and spoke good English. The place wasn’t crowded we went on a Friday Afternoon there was one other couple in there. Skin felt really soft after. The town was nice to walk around and the walk along the river is lovely. Recommend a visit.

Aveiro Station, also known as Estacao Ferroviaria de Aveiro, is a modern central train station located near the city center. It operates daily with various timetables for Alfa Pendular, Intercity, Regional, Suburban, and Vouga Regional trains. The new design of the station stands in contrast to the old azulejo-decorated building nearby. There are plans to convert the classic structure into a museum or regional information office.
This station is a gem and beautifully preserved. The classic tiles and very clean, fresh paint make this a very attractive sight. The train operations were very good, the directions to the trains easy to follow even if you do not speak Portuguese. It made my visit from Porto easy and pleasant.

I'm not a big fan of this train station at all to be honest. The space is open, so it's always cold, but it still smells very bad there. Hygiene is clearly not a priority at this establishment. The trains are generally on time. Also there is free parking in the back and a bus station.

The station is quite far from the city center. I walked from University of Aveiro to the station around 45 minutes.
I did not see much sign to go to the station. I opened google maps to make sure that I am in a correct direction.
The station is quite big and clean. You can find information from the worker. The schedule is easy to find for your trip.
They provide hand sanitizer for the customers. Do not for get to wear your mask before entering the station.

The station itself was nice especially the original parts. The only problem was the train operation went on strike at noon, stranding people who were heading elsewhere.

If you need to take the train show up at least an hour to find parking after 9am. Completely ridiculous that the city values caravan parking over commuters. It is not fair that students and workers need to waste an excessive amount of time to find parking because the city rather have caravan parking spaces, and even then they still abuse these privileges by taking up two regular spaces. Its basically a shanty town at this point in the parking lot.
Forum Aveiro is a charming retail complex that boasts classic stone architecture and over 70 stores, as well as a food court. What sets it apart is its open shop concept, making it easy to find big brands within the mall. The location is easily accessible via Google Maps, with nearby bars along the river providing a perfect spot for coffee or drinks while enjoying the view.
Very nice airy shopping center. It is good to walk there so much you think you are in the city. Excellent choice of materials to blend in with the decor. The space is very well maintained and it is super clean. On the ground floor you have the shops and upstairs you have the catering. To do without hesitation if you are in town 👍🏼
The ribbons on the roof make it very cozy

Centrally located shopping mall with a good selection of stores and places to eat. The architecture is carefully thought through so that the place fits in well in the surroundings. You can admire the cityscape from the outside of the top floor, there are trees planted all over and the shopping alleys are partially outside. The mall is nicely decorated during Xmas time.
Kama Winnik — Google review
It's a beautiful and quite big mall in the middle of Aveiro. You find the regular stores here but for me the catch is the buildings, the decoration and the fact that it is an outdoor Mall which you do not find that often.
Being an outdoor Mall there are of course also problems coming along. Since it is quite hot in the summer the stores without air condition, which were the majority, are quite hot inside which makes looking for clothes and trying them on relatives uncomfortable rarely quick.
If you are around, it is definitely worth the stroll!
You can park directly underneath the mall. It took about 15 minutes to get into the parking garage though because of traffic jams inside the garage.

The Forum is a modern mall in an old building. Just by side of the canal, there could not have been a better place for it. The shopping mall is quite unique for their concept to be open shop. You can easily find big brands here in the shopping mall. The location is very easy to find by google maps. Stunning car collection, although it's not the largest one I've seen and I wouldn't drive 5 hours just to see it.
The cars on display are worth seeing, and there's something for everyone. There is also a small art section with paintings... it's worth taking a look. And there's a room dedicated solely to toy cars and collectibles. Everything is well-maintained and spotless. The short drive (10 minutes) to the second part of the museum is worth it. It's not a massive complex, but it was still very interesting to see how the vintage cars are restored.

A wonderful museum! Spent 2 hours there before going on to the Motor Experience. Suitable for all ages. A large exhibit of Dinky toys and similar, lead soldiers and similar. Rooms of interesting articles, porcelain, tapestries, furniture, some religious artifacts. Several rooms of superb art works. The ethos is quality not quantity and it really shows. Then a second building of vintage cars and bikes. Staff were very friendly, helpful and had some English. Most of the labeling was in both Portuguese and English.

This is a gem of a museum hidden in the heavily forested central region of Portugal. Surrounded by roads from all directions of the country that are a car or bike lovers' dream.
If you are coming from Agueda, the old road is littered with hundreds of corners. Road condition a little degraded in parts but nothing my 35 profile 19inch wheels had any trouble with.
Do the full museum experience that will take you 2-3 hours and then explore the area around Tondela and head to Quinta do Cabriz restaurant for more stunning roads and a great lunch at the restaurant on the Cabriz winefarm.

An unusual museum, combining an excellent art collection (with works from different epochs, including paintings by Vieira da Silva, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali) with the most important collection of cars and motorbikes in Portugal, from different eras and makes. Its current temporary exhibition is dedicated to the Lamborghini sports cars. In the photo, the Ford Model T, the car that marked the invention of assembly lines for car production.

Has a very interesting collection of a variety of classic cars.
It has an exemplary of Ford T, phantom III and qnd unique in the world De-Dion Bouton that is able to carry 10 passengers, being the longest ad biggest in the world.
It also has the 3 cars that belong to Salazar, being that one of those he used for 23y.
It is worth a visit!

A great museum to visit in a rather unexpected place!!! If you love cars and motorbikes this is a place to visit! Loved the super cars exhibition!
Praia da Costa Nova is a picturesque stretch of beach with colorful painted striped houses, situated on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Ria de Aveiro lagoon. The area offers opportunities for long walks, surfing and other beach activities. Though crowded during peak season, it holds charm in the off-season when there are fewer tourists, making it an amazing destination to visit. However, swimming may not be ideal due to strong winds.
Been here only for lunch and it was fantastic.
Beach here is beyond my imagination, I wish I could stay longer or overnight.
Won’t miss it next time

Costa Nova is picturesque, colorful, with that pleasant atmosphere the beachside places have. During the summer, this place is a bit crowded.

Lovely when out of season. In late Oct there was almost no one on the beach. Warm but a bit windy, ideal for long walks and surfing; not for swimming though. Almost everything is closed bar a couple of places which gives it charm. Not sure I'd enjoy it as much in summer; no shade and a lot of tourist rental signs which suggests large crowds in season.

Beautiful beach and surrounding area. Many houses are beautifully tiled. Lovely place to walk around and soak up the sunshine.

We only stayed here for couple of hours. It is 3h: 29 minutes from Lisbon to Costa Nova and 24,40€ toll each way. It was a sunny day and the travel was fine. The is a beach ( Praia da barra ) which we only walked pass but nice place to take some pictures . Specially the colourful houses that catches everyone’s attention. Good visit.

Idillic beachside town with the cutest design along the Costa Nova. There is a phenomenal wooden walking path along the coast for taking a scenic stroll. The weather was still quite enjoyable in mid October at 23/25 C during the day.

Beautiful sandy beach
Long coast over 9km so plenty of space
Take your own towel , umbrella as there are no rental options there .
The water is cold with high waves so its fun for playing but not for swiming .
The only issue with place is showers & toillets as they are far and with lineup and can use more cleaning !
Regarding food there are resturants and you will notice drinks & sweets sellers walking around the beach selling different stuff .

Funky beach area where the beach shacks are painted in bold stripes of red, blue, and yellow. Very picturesque with a large park overlooking a marina. Some unusual sculptures in that park. I understand you have to be very careful when swimming.

It's a beautiful beach with a wooden walkway that goes all the way to Praia de Barra. During the weekend it can be very crowded, but still worth visiting regardless. The beach is clean with plenty of trash cans. You can take a BusWay bus from the Rodoviaria which costs a little over 3 euro to get here
Febriana — Google review
The beach is very beautiful.
They have a very long wood bridge to checkin or selfie with friend. You should come at about 3-4pm because this time its has sunshine to have a beautiful photos.
They have a warmly restaurant at the first checkin point. The beach is long so you should check your time before going deeper.

A little bit overrated. In every article about the Porto Region it is recommended to go there because of the Pyjama houses. If you Pass the main street you See them. If you step out there is not really much more to Visit
I think it is a nice place to Pass holidays in this village because it has a nice surrounding. The nice beach for surfing on the westside, the lagoon for several kinds of other (water) sports
Flo Rochlitz — Google review
There are lots of places that you can eat and drink. There are big waves but it is a little bit earmer than Porto. Nice to visit. Also the road to the other beaches were so nice

A Great exhibition with a lot of fascinating paleontologic wonders and world’s treasures, it was all well explained by our tour guide and at the end we tasted some of the wines from local baga grapes and sangrias:) It’s worth seeing for sure. We would love to hear more about minerals and the African part of the exhibition, it was too short to take a look of every fine bit of it. Wonderful experience, thank you!

We didn't know that they only do guided tours at certain times.. But luckily we managed to get really nice guided tour just for the two of us with really nice and friendly guide... That was worth of 1.5 h of waiting.. Especially that we got nice lunch recommendations to spend the time.

Why not get the visibly bored girls in your wine shop to do some degustations? Can’t be that difficult to sort out a corkscrew and learn a few lines about each bottle, is it? Win win for everyone - clients happy, wine sold and the name of the region is becoming known to ever more people.
Instead the reception is lukewarm, the girls seem to be the first day in their job and the prevailing sense that Bacalhoa still hasn’t decided what business they are in, can’t escape me. I would like to come back to see the art but somehow I lost interest. Seems also a duplication of what’s I. Buddha Eden.

We had such a lovely tour here, we had a fantastic young guide, who spoke very good English and knew her history. Also about the collection of artifacts that they have there. Its not just a wine Tour. Well worth a visit if you like history. €8 was for a guided tour, taste the sparkling wine and some lovely little bread rolls with the famous pork.
Jackie Lyons — Google review
It’s not a museum where you learn and wander to discover: it’s an extravagant accumulation of artifacts, from minerals to fossils to traditional African arts to an edifying exhibit about Gandhi. You are rushed through tunnels and rooms stuffed with all these things with little context and no time to absorb and appreciate, despite the capable tour guide’s best efforts. It’s not a testimony of our planet’s and its peoples’ heritage; it’s rather more evidence of greed and possession, under the disguise and excuse of sharing by showing off. Worth a visit just to understand the scope of the problem.

A great spot to see some cool artifacts from around the world, and taste some great snacks and sparkling wines after the tour finishes. Goncalo Costa was an excellent tour guide, he spoke fluent English and cares about history and sharing it with others. If life allows the opportunity, would love to visit again!

Palace Hotel Bussaco is a lavish former palace with stately rooms and suites, featuring a banquet hall and a bar with a fireplace. It offers an exceptional staff and service, along with thematic decor that reflects its rich history. The hotel's location in the Bussaco National Forest provides guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature, offering stunning views and peaceful hiking trails. While some guests found the food slightly expensive, they praised the attentive staff and romantic atmosphere.
Really nice hotel with beautiful history behind it. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The garden and fountain are fantastic and definitely Instagram worthy. The breakfast was on the basic side and didn’t have much to choose from but if you’re only looking for eggs/ham/granola/fruits/coffee then this is a good place to enjoy your morning.

Wonderful stay. Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Special thanks to Micaela who gave us the history of the Palace and answered all of our questions. I recommend visiting the Convento next door as well. Strongly recommend staying here.

But what truly sets Bussaco Palace Hotel apart is its unique location. Surrounded by acres of pristine forest, the hotel offers guests a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature and explore the stunning landscape of the Bussaco National Forest. Whether hiking along one of the many trails or simply taking in the breathtaking views, guests will find a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.

I always try and give a fair assessment so I will start by saying the beauty of this place is it's history, stunning architecture and amazing natural surroundings.
It was a joy to walk the grounds and spend time in the stunning communal areas but things went downhill the minute we turned the key in the door of our £200 a night suite.
Outdated fixtures and fittings, peeling paintwork, signs of water infiltration and stains on both the carpets and the furniture.
In addition neither the fridge or the air conditioning worked.
The service in the bar and quality of the food from the restaurant were equally disappointing with at least two of the meals being returned and, when we raised our concerns to the front desk staff, one of the bar staff came to remonstrate with us.
I don't understand how this hotel warrants a five star rating.

Awesome palace, beautiful architecture and surrounded by lush nature. The interior is equally amazing. Common areas and room are nice and comfortable and retain the original touches of when this was actual home to Kings. The breakfast buffet is something from another world.
Unfortunately the quality and attention to detail of the service and staff is not even close to what is expected for a place at this level. Staff is not attentive and slow: took 30min to get our order during dinner (looked like they forgot about us). For 35 euros per dish, I’d a way better service. Food was also not EOW.
And during breakfast the gardening crew simply turned on an incredibly noisy gas powered lawn mower right next to the breakfast tables on the terrace. Staff only reacted once we and other customers started complaining (and surprisingly, they said this always happens, but still apologized) - was kind of a buzzkill to the whole experience.

Fabulous historic building, very charming. Suite was large and high-ceilinged. But very old furnishings, worn mattress and pillows. In our suite, the bathroom was like a cellar, with one stainless steel support pillar, oddly tiled with deep green marble tiles. Not very clean

We recommend a 1 night stay. We had a great experience. The lunch was really good and while we wouldn’t rate the breakfast the highest, it was still good. I wasn’t feeling well so we couldn’t hold our dinner reservation. The staff helped us with room service. The grilled ham and cheese and tea was good. My husband had the steak sandwich and he loved it and said while simple it was delicious.
The beds and furniture are all antiques so you have to go in appreciating the castle experience and look past other common luxuries from other hotels. We loved it and thought it was an amazingly cool stay. We did the hike up to the top of the mountain. It’s about 1.5 miles uphill - take some water.
It’s a winding mountain drive to get there and to your next location so keep that in mind.

Incredible, amazing place to stay at least for one night. The garden and the building of the Palace are amazing. But the rooms are kind of disappointing. The dining room is a fairytale. Must visit place at least for a lunch.

Exuberant nature. The palace is beautiful and historic, but it is neglected. Artworks and sculptures are dirty! Bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. The breakfast could be better - coffee was cold.

Great place to hike and discover each point of the garden.
You can join the premises with your own car paying 6 euros (fair price), or you can join free by bike or walking.
I didn't stay in the hotel, that's the reason that I didn't rate it.

I have waited to write this review as I wasn't sure how to word our experience. If you want to say you stayed in a beautiful palace in Portugal then I would recommend this unique opportunity. However, if you don't wish to feel shamed or made to feel oppressed and bad about yourself then I don't recommend it. We visited from Canada and had an issue with booking our toddler son. The check-in person was rude, impatient and accusatory for our mistake. He refused to listen to anything we had to say and made us feel like common thieves trying to smuggle a child in who we were holding at check-in. He overcharged us for the child and then proceeded to reprimand us and make me feel demeaned as a mother. We understand occupancy and occupancy charges, and for a "five star" I would expect more tact and customer service vs personal attacks. The rooms are ok. It is outdated but you are paying for authenticity and the experience. At breakfast the one staff person was incredibly hostile and rude. They ran out of all kinds of food and noone dared to mention it or else she would snap at you and ask if you "did not like the food that was there." Overall we did not have a relaxing time as the ambiance and feel of the place is not filled with positive vibes and joy. Perhaps this is ok for a certain generation and style of traveler but to keep this place alive I think some of the backdoor thinking may need to be refurbished instead of the rooms. I took a star off for breakfast and one for service. Everything else is truly beautiful.

Very beautiful Palace, also the area surrounding. Classic and antique decoration. I didn’t stay overnight but I went to the bar. They have a strange policy that they tell guests that they are full and sometimes they are not even at 20% of their capacity.

Unbelievable place.
The history from the place the atmosphere, the knowledge and sympathy from staff. The smiles.
The stay room and the bar are really a good place to relax from the walk in the luxuriant bush.

Rooms are simple, old style, but clean. The palace is amazing, really well maintained. It brings you to the 18th century. All details of the architecture amazes you and deco inside is a luxury. All around is pure nature.

Best staff and service I ever had. Amazing people, very kind and thoughtful.
The hotel is very thematic and history is everywhere; beds and bathrooms are very good, some in a Art Deco style, and other more renovated with marble.
If i was to say something not as good, would be only regarding the food itself, probably a bit expensive for what it is. But again, staff was flawless and absolutely amazing at all time.
Garden felt a little dry for spring, but woods around are gorgeous.
This place is amazing!

Our classic double was a bit shabby in parts. Lots of coaches seem to visit, so the hotel can get very busy and the staff then get stretched. That said, we had a very good, refined evening meal there on our 2nd evening. Not the cheapest, but a good standard of cooking, with good service. Sofas in the lounge area look a bit grubby, too.

Beautiful hotel. The grounds were amazing, the history was really cool and the common spaces were gorgeous. It was a ton of fun exploring the space. However, the rooms themselves were not very comfortable. It was quite out of the way and I’m not sure it was the best use of time to dedicate an entire night to this visit - but it was very cool! Breakfast was also amazing and the staff and service were great.

First, when we asked about air conditioning in the room when the employee showed us the room we were going to sleep in, she told us that there was no air conditioning, and suggested bringing a fan, and they only brought us one fan for three people in the room.
Second, they suggested that we have dinner at the hotel, or if we wanted to bring suggestions for restaurants in the area. Don't make our mistake and have dinner there!!! The food there is absurdly expensive and is far from worth the price!! We asked for one vegetarian dish, and what they served us, I wouldn't bring my dogs to eat.... We saw another guest who asked for this dish that evening and she didn't eat a bite of it except to taste it. The waiter who saw that the gift had not been touched did not even bother to ask if something was wrong.
The only advantage of the hotel is its location, near the hotel there is beautiful nature where you can walk.
In conclusion, if you choose to sleep there because the location suits you, for us it was a good stopping point on our trip between two places on the trip we did, do not eat there in the evening... the breakfast was fine..

If there is 1 hotel, you need to stay it's this one. You're not only staying in a place, but really feel like a royalty. Exquisite breakfast, romantic atmosphere and of course in the middle of the forest parc, with great trails and the cascade waterfall. Really recommendable !
