This restored stone fortress was originally built in the 14th century & destroyed in 17th century.
Delight! A place worthy of visiting. The Fortress of Suceava is a 14th-century fortification! It was destroyed in the 17th century and restored in the 20th and 21st centuries. The white stripe on the fortress walls is to distinguish the restoration works from the original that remained intact. Today you can see the fortress almost the same as it was five centuries ago - with a drawbridge, a paved courtyard, a chapel and even a bathhouse. Each hall is decorated thematically and shows different aspects of the life of that time. The interactivity brings some kind of mystical feeling of immersion ... The observation decks offer a beautiful view of the city of Suceava.
The child was impressed and did not want to leave. I want to return.
Irina Lunnaya — Google review
The fortress has been restored and is on good shape. The price is ok. There are many rooms to visit inside plus views over the city. The small plays with re-enacters make the experience better. Do not miss the halls and exhibitions in the lower levels.

If it’s our history 5 stars
The tickets are cheap, the fortress is renovated, a lot of rooms to visit and many panels and audio/video informations.. A good way to understand a little history
Ovidiu Gabriel Gabor — Google review
The setting is really impressive, giving you a tangible sense of the past.
Unfortunately, not all of the interactive devices were functioning during our visit, which was a bit of a letdown.
Despite this, the fortress itself is intriguing enough to keep you engaged and it's worth a visit for those interested in history and a nice view of the city surroundings.
John F — Google review
If you are in Suceava - visit this citadel for sure.
Magnificent and impressive, a real stronghold with splendid veiws on the city,.
Tanya Kobiljanska — Google review
They've done a good job revamping the old fortress and even making the attempt to organize a museum inside with mixed results in my opinion.
Be sure to come here with good shoes, you will have to walk up a hill a considerable amount of steps, take a path that can be quite muddy depending on the weather and when you reach the fortress itself there are a few stairs to climb as well
The ticket is cheap for what is offered, be sure to take the combo including the visit to the Village Museum which is just en route to the citadel
Among the highlights are the pictures you can take of the nearby area. The museum features text in both English and Romanian so foreigners interested in history have a chance to explore the past of Moldova
Klaus Wanderer — Google review
It's an interesting place to visit. Perfect to spend time with family and friends during the summer holidays. There's a car park nearby, about 10-15 minutes walking distance (it's more like a field used for a car park) next to the cemetery.

Magnificent historical castle. Everyone should visit and give respect this 500 years old history. Also, the statue of Stefan Cel Mare is phenomenal. Highly recommended
Ivan Panev — Google review
I have been here right before the final restoration, years ago. Upon my return in Sept 2022 I was simply amazed by what I have found.
A fun, entertaining, engaging and especially educational place.
I recommend to absolutely all tourists to stop by, romanians or non romanians.
This place deserves more promotion!
Alex Carapcea — Google review
Maybe my expectations were a bit off, but after visiting it, I was a little disappointed.
Mostly because I wanted more information about the fortress itself and what was life in and around it.
But instead I got some info about the fortress and a lot of generic history lessons.
Then again, maybe that was all the data that survived through the ages.
Another minus is that I tried to follow the numeric doors, but as much as I searched, i missed one. A better map of the expo and fortress would do wonders.
So would a person that can fix all the technical glitches with the sound from the movies and slideshows. And maybe turn on the off projectors.
Nonetheles, it is a beautiful citadel. A part of our history that many wanted to erase and few sacrificed their resources to preserve it.
Still, the caters should focus more on the touristic possibilities and less on doing a sloppy job of promoting its beauty.
Adrian Laurentiu — Google review
Good atmosphere during the Medieval Festival. Well restaured building and nice reanactement shows.

One of the best fortresses in the country. It was rehabilitated a few years ago. There is lots of information available, including video. It is equipped with mannequin soldiers, weapons, paintings, furniture, etc. I gave it only 4* because of the gift shop, which was closed for the day because "the shopkeeper didn't come to work".
Andrei Meroniuc — Google review
Cool castle, looks like one of those Scottish fortresses from the movies, currently there's reconstruction around the castle, the time to finish is 2026, you can visit the inside but not its moat.
Picturesque museum very close to the citadel. Well maintained grounds and buildings, with staff who are friendly enough. The buildings give you a glimpse into what life was like in these parts years gone by. It is similar to the Lviv region in Ukraine which has a similar museum.
It is not so big a site so you can take it all in over an hour to 90 minutes I’d say. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. I believe you can get a combination ticket at the Citadel.
Best to park in car park opposite citadel if you are driving. Parking was free when I visited.

A very interesting museum! In many ways, it is similar to Ukrainian open-air museums. At the entrance to the museum, you can get a map of the museum in different languages, but not in Ukrainian, which struck me unpleasantly.
Mariana Senkiv — Google review
The museum offers a captivating glimpse into regional history and culture. The open-air setting provides an authentic backdrop, making you feel as though you've stepped back in time. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing traditional homes, tools, and artifacts that paint a vivid picture of Bukovina's past. The layout is easy to navigate, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. Overall, the museum is a must-visit for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the region's heritage. Highly recommended for both educational and leisurely visits.

Great experience. As always, I enjoyed seeing old traditional Romanian houses. The ticket is 20 lei to visit both
Suceava Fortress and the Village Museum. Just next to the ticket desk there is a toilet you can use free of charge. The toilet is very clean. You can park your car on the street not far from a cemetery. Usually you'll see a car park sign.
Marina Trencheva — Google review
Lovely museum, well worth the ticket price, lots to see and learn.
There is a toilet inside the museum. The toilet outside after the carpark has some kids charging entry to a very dirty squatting toilet. There are also couple of dogs and sheep roaming around

If you are in Suceava, add this place to your list of visits. You can see (and feel) the past of Bukovina here: customs, home improvement and life, crafts and storage. It will be interesting for children to sit at their desks, which is history now. This place is worth seeing. In this case, all the houses can be bypassed in an hour or less.
This museum is located next to the Throne Fortress. Therefore, you can see two attractions at once.
Irina Lunnaya — Google review
The best organised village museum I have ever seen! In addition to that, absolutely all the houses were open for visitation - something of a rarity in Romania.
Cristina-Carmen Stanca — Google review
Open air village museum consisting in 21 houses from the Bucovina region
It was better than the similar museums in other Romanian cities, smaller but featuring better looking houses and giving the impression that it's better maintained. Sone of the houses are arranged thematically depicting the three most important moments of life: the baptism after birth, marriage and the funeral
You can buy a combo ticket including the citadel and that way you have a discount as compared to buying the tickets separately
In the first half of the XIV century. there was a defensive wooden-earthen castle. Since the XVI century. there were frequent attacks by the Tatars, in 1516 the castle was captured and burned to the ground. A few years later, repairs and reconstruction began, and soon everything was restored and improved. However, twice in its history, the castle was damaged in 1657 and 1672, respectively, but was never rebuilt. Inside the fortress in the XVIII century was restored a magnificent palace with large cellars. But in the chronicles it is noted that lightning struck the palace and destroyed much of it. To this day, only the remaining towers, defensive walls, four- tiered powder tower and the remains of the palace with beautiful ornaments around the windows and doors have survived.

Probably the most beautiful monastery in Moldova. Located in a scenic place between wood and the border of Nistru (Dnester) river. The site holds a rich history and numerous archeological artefacts including an ancient earth-clad circular fortress known under the name Farfuria Turcului (Turk's Plate). A beautiful waterfall can be easily found in the wood not far from the entrance into the monastery.

A very quiet place in north of Moldova. It is a monastery for women and there is quite big list of rules if you want to enter there. We must need to have a skirt and something on their head because without it you can’t enter there.

Nestled deep in the woods, this serene and picturesque monastery offered a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The surrounding forest was lush and green. At entrance there is a sign indicating that visitors were required to adhere to certain rules, such as dressing modestly and maintaining silence within the monastery's walls. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a respite from the noise and chaos of modern life.

Incredible please is really worth seeing. There are many forests, lakes and fountains there. You can take a boat and swim in the lakes. Moreover there are some caves and if you want you can have an excursion underground. Next to the park there is a hotel you can stay there. The best time to visit is spring and summer.

Most beautiful park I visited so far. Includes more than 200 types of roases, inumerous species of shrubs, trees and other plants, statues of greek gods and philosophers, drinkable water fountains, and great views! Park is beautiful, there may not be many attraction, but just walking between old trees already a good one. Entrance is not free, but it was cheap. My favorite part is oak's woods. And as for me the best attraction is underground river, excursion is on Russian/Ukrainian but you can find everything online.
River, waterfall & lush greenery in picturesque spot with climbing opportunities & trails.
there is a lot of rubbish in some places, although there are garbage cans with the inscriptions "Buky clean village". the local fauna looks dangerous: young people threw large stones into the river while my friend and I were near the river. but the canyon is still beautiful, there is where to climb, what to see
P.s.: I came back here in the summer for a walk, but summer is a very touristy place. during the day there is nowhere to go - everywhere there are tents, people and barbecue.

The nature is beautiful- a lot of greenery and cliffs are really amazing.
Out of attractions inflatable boats were available and also there was a place for camping.
We visited May 6,2023 and there were not so many people so we could enjoy views rather freely.
You could buy food or drinks only from locals - pyrizhky, apple juice, kvas and fruits.
There were also signs on the houses of the locals that you may eat and even stay at their houses or guest houses.
What was not ok: the road to canyon 🙈 so please be attentive while driving there.

Beautiful place! Nevertheless, it’s a regular Ukrainian village, so don’t expect reach services here. The village features just a couple of shops and cafés. For hungry travelers I can recommend a nice restaurant “Shokolad” located near the village’s center. As for the canyon itself, it is great, but mind to be careful :)

The very first impression is rather contradictory. But later on you realize the real magic of the place. Wonderful nature, amazing views and nice and friendly local people. Apple juice suggested by the lady in small shop near the canyon was unbelievably delicious.

Chornobyl, also known as Chernobyl, is a city located in the northern Kyiv Oblast of Ukraine. The city is partially abandoned and situated in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. It is approximately 90 kilometers north of Kyiv and 160 kilometers southwest of Gomel, Belarus. Though not everyone visits Ukraine to see Chornobyl, it may be worth considering for those interested in exploring one of the darkest places on earth.
The Kyivan Rus' (Kievan Rus) was a loose federation of states that existed from the 9th century until its fragmentation in the 13th century. The cathedral, commissioned by Prince Yaroslav the Wise in 1037 and originally built next to his palace, is one of the oldest standing churches in Ukraine and one of the most beautiful.
Big complex of churches and museums with a panoramic view on a square. Highly recommend to visit the Bell tower (75m high), which is right on the main enter. It’ll cost 60 UAH and it’ll definitely worth it

It has a breathtaking structure. Those who want to climb the bell tower will experience the feeling of height after the first floor. There's enough space upstairs on the first floor. The view is spectacular especially in the evenings and cristmas time. The cathedral is one of the oldest and best examples. Mysterious architecture is a marvel. It is already under UNESCO protection. Narrow doors, arched passages, wall frescoes take you on a journey through time.

I headed over to St. Sophia’s Cathedral, which was massive and enchanting, but also super dark, cold and fascinating. The nuns were everywhere to be found and the big entrance was really lovely, but the star of the show is the giant egg display upstairs. It’s a 15,000 painted egg mosaic made in about 10 years ago. The coolest part was that the artist enlisted the help of schoolchildren in order to paint all the eggs needed for the project.

The visit of the cathedral was a nice experience. We were a but disappointed by the side buildings / museum which didn't add too much value to the day (but are very cheap to access) but entering the main cathedrale Sainte-Sophia and going on top of the entrance tower was a wonderful experience. The inside of cathedrale is very rich in decoration and the view from the bell is astonishing.

Amazing cathedral, its even more beautiful when seen from the bell tower. this make climbing the wooden steps of bell tower, worth it. Architectural beauty from inside out. the paintings depicted on the walls are something to be mesmerized with. the atmosphere is so clam, its wonderful to be there. All Kiev itself speaks for the people of this country - you can see their devotion and love for their God and religion. Architecture is their primary language, a beautiful one indeed! To see this thousand year old church and to learn about their millennial city organizing skills makes us, 21st century mortals wonder, how we will be present in the life of those people in a short 100 year from now? The Cathedral and the surroundings are beautiful, worth to immerse yourself to the atmosphere even for a short time!

Could see this roof glistening in the distance from the plane. Had to come find it when I landed. This monastery is the headquarters of Ukrainian orthodox church. It was originally built in the 1100s, but the Soviets demolished it in the 1930s. After the Soviet Union fell, it was rebuilt as you see today. It's so cool that the exterior blue and gold combination mimics the country's colours. There are many impressive buildings in the area, so it's an interesting walk. On the big surrounding wall, they have put names and pictures of all the people who died in the war. It's really sobering.

It’s really worth visiting here when you’re in the city. On a sunny day the golden roof really is glistening in the sun and the blue walls stand out prominently against the greyness of the surrounding area. Outside the surrounding wall there’s a nice square where you can sit and watch the world go by, including on my visit a photo shoot for a wedding, with loads of impressive and other ornate buildings. There was a number of locals selling stuff outside the entrance in the wall but fortunately they weren’t bothersome at all so don’t let it put you off.
Once within the walls there’s a real sense of calm. There’s plenty of benches to sit and a nice walk around the grounds. There’s some other old buildings next to the main cathedral and a small ‘orchard’ which is pleasant in the sun.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to venture inside the main cathedral but despite that it was well worth checking out and it’s no wonder that it’s one of the cities main sights.

The blue walls and golden domes of the exterior are very picturesque. The interior is quite impressive as well, and it is interesting to compare the fresh paintings here with the much older paintings in the nearby St Sophia’s.

Really lovely place to visit. It is free to walk around, however if you want a guided tour or to find out more info there are additional charges to pay for these things. There are plenty of spaces and benches to sit and relax and reflect in these beautiful surroundings. There is a note that states no photography, however everyone there were taking pictures and nobody was approached to stop.

The colour of the cathedral exactly matches the sky. That’s the reason they choose this colour to be closer to heaven. Brilliant and relevant. Inside it’s mesmerising. Also it’s different with no seats to sit, so services are made standing as part of respect. This cathedral was damaged/almost distorted once by Stalin, who want the people to be non believer of god. Second time it’s during WWII. That’s why interior is much smaller than outside due to several supports suporring the structure.

I am always amazed every time i visit here. The gold dome is amazing and very impressive, you will see the irony of grace and power. Inside the compound there's an olf church that was preserved too, like the old structure. Located in the nearby tourists spots, and churches as well. Souvenir shops around, but a bit expensive.

This is said to have been the first church in the eastern Orthodox lands to have gilded domes, hence the name. It was extensively remodelled in the 18th century, but was demolished by the Soviets in 1934. It was restored in the 90’s after the fall of the Soviet Union. The blue walls and golden domes of the exterior are very picturesque. The interior is quite impressive as well, and it is interesting to compare the fresh paintings here with the much older paintings in the nearby St Sophia’s.
As the most popular tourist destination in Ukraine, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is a UNESCO-listed golden-domed Orthodox Christian monastery that is the holiest place of pilgrimage for Ukrainians. Situated on 28 hectares of lush green hills above the Dnipro River, this subterranean hermitage and its network of catacombs are popular with tourists and pilgrims alike.
It seems to be a complex of church and holy place- i just describe my experience. there was many priest i think it is kind of university for them as well. again i just describe my conclusion. The whole are is so big there was a amazing wooden bridge with nice view - the place had such a relaxing environment - there was a entry fee (very little) to the main churches, it was a underground type with no light. you could buy some candle as a donation and use it to light the inside church cus it was dark.
It was near a museum and motherland statue. so you can visit both at once.

I visited just before the start of war, so my review is based on my experience at that time.
A beautiful and historic monument in Kyiv. Arguably the centre of the Slavic Orthodox religion. I wish to visit again when things are back to normal.

This is an amazing site to discover in Kyiv. Visit the church, see the mirror egg outside. The outstanding architecture. You need to visit this as travellers. It's a must and less than $5 to visit. On my visit there was some coffee machine outside, was very tasteful.

This is a refreshingly happy of sorts religious monument. Forget about being a tourist and just join the crowds, go around and soak the atmosphere. You’ll see groups praying, pilgrims kissing icons, priests care of daily chores and the like. Highly recommended if you’re into vibe and not just seeing a monument.

Beautiful place!!! Lots to see so make sure you have plenty of time. The bell tower is a little bit of a workout but completely worth it. The architecture, artwork, grounds and history is quite amazing.

It’s not really “free” to enter but 100 UAH to pay.
But of course it’s worth paying the amount as you’ll get to see amazing monastery with so many beautiful ornaments around.
Do not miss the viewpoint as you’ll be able to see nice view under the river and to the war museum down south.

The biggest religious place I have ever seen, and it is beautiful and clean. You can see a lot of ceremonies while you are visiting. Great way to observe and meet with new cultures.

To see that how important religion is and bears basic values for Ukrainian people, one cannot be surpired to see this monastery complex being a historical site and a day-to-day worship place at once. The buildings are in very good shape and the architecture - just like in all Kiev and Ukrain - are so compelling and uplifting that one start to wonder how they keep in touch with God real time? Visit the catacombs to see the preserved history and stroll along with the locals to feel their love and devotion first hand. Out of tradition and respect ladies has to wear a skirt and a scarf over head but don't worry, they are well equipped to provide you with these! Takig pictures obviously prohibited down there but you will never forget this experience!

Probably one of the places I liked most in Kiev. Beautiful area, buildings and vibe. Was in the mass and loved it. Totally recommended!!! Try to visit this place with a lot of time and don't forget to visit the caves :)

Amazingly beautiful. Worth visiting when in Kyiv and if you have a good day to dedicate. Not only the church but Monastery is full of beautiful holy places and micro environments, quite relaxing for visitors.
This war memorial consists of a massive statue of a Motherland holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other, overlooking the city below. The museum which is located on the banks of the Dnieper River has exhibits about Ukraine's role in World War II from uniforms and letters to larger pieces of history like airplanes and artillery.
So freaking cool. Even the grounds around this place are beautiful.
Plaques explained everything in English and Ukrainian. Apparently you can climb inside the helicopter but it was closed for Corona. ☹️
Lotta sad stories coming out of the conflict near Donetsk. Was very sad to see how many Ukrainian soldiers have died. There's a small exhibit of cars that have come from that region where the recent conflict is and has been.
Go and considering paying the entrance fee to the war II area to support best place. Seriously one of the coolest museums.

A must visit when in Kiev ( kyiv) breathtaking memorials, military machines, and off course the jewel in the crown the motherland monument.
Immaculate grounds and some amazing views. Wear sensible footwear as be covering some distance here.

This sits right outside of the Motherland Monument, with some interesting vehicles, art, and sculptures. Easy to get to, wide open spaces, very inexpensive exhibits, and... Just a really cool place. They did a spectacular job putting this together!

The museum has got some renovations and looks a bit better than before. Some people say you can enter the head of the Mother Motherland monument and from there you can see amazing views of Kyiv, but I never have been there. Need to try it ones.
Yaroslav Kerget — Google review
The best part of the museum was the indoor section where you need to pay in order to enter. There was a very moving exhibition about the war in Crimea (didn't take pictures because it was some kind of disrespectful) and also the permanent exhibition about II World War (Eastern Europe). I am not very fond of War museums but it is always worthy since there is always something new to learn. The only disadvantage was that not all written explanations are provided in English so you have to do your own research if you want to go deeper in knowledge. After paying the entrance make sure you go downstairs to leave your belongings, otherwise it is not possible to enter the museum.

Very impressive museum. You need to pay a small entrance fee. There's an extra fee if you want to go up and do the sightseeing from the Motherland statue. Both tickets can be bought at the entrance to the museum.
Ukraine's Motherland Monument is an imposing stainless steel statue commemorating the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany during World War II. Standing 62 meters tall, the monument is a popular tourist destination and can be seen from all over Kiev.
Huge (23rd tallest statue in the world) monument overlooking Kiev. Great views across the city from the area. It's part of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. I didn't visit the museum itself, was short on time, but there are plenty of exhibits to see outside which you don't have to pay to see. Also some big statues at the base and a tank painted in the Ukrainian national colours.

"A GREAT DAY OUT"
You can easily spend a good few hours walking around here,
Looking at the huge selection of military hardware, statues and monuments.
Best of all it's free 😱😱😱
You can pay for a ticket to go inside and behind the barriers if you wish too.
(we did not see the need to do this so can't comment on it's worth, but it did look like a very impressive exhibition)

Very cool place. Very somber. The museum and monument are done perfectly, impeccable, lots of extremely interesting facts and items from WW2, all the way up to the conflict in Crimea. This is definitely a worthwhile stop. You must go to the top of the monument!

Highly recommended to visit if you are in Kyiv. Was impressed by modern installation of war, Holocaust and current eastern war. And it costs only 50 uah for adults. Unfortunately, city view place was closed, but anyway spending time there was very good.

The most amazing place in Kiev. It's a must visit destination in a traveller's list if he's visiting Kiev. The place is very well built and it displays all the war materials used in World Wars, it's just amazing and can only be felt not described. It has many more nearby tourist places which can be visited by walk or by bus.

Definitely recommend the climb to the top but bear in mind you might need to book as it gets busy - They only have two slots per hour. It's a shame you can only see out behind the shield and not towards the river but still amazing value. Special thanks to Vlad for being an excellent guide.

Only a short 30-40min drive from Kyiv, this wonderful trip allows one to truly take in the village setting. This church consists of 2 parts, one downstairs and a more remarkable one upstairs. Does not look like much from the outside but the interior is breathtakingly beautiful.

A beautiful area to visit with so many things to see. Enjoyed my adventure around the reserve on a beautiful sunny day.
Compact zoological park including a petting zoo, pond, playground & picnic area.
I was really surprised and happy about the quality of this zoo. All of the animals appear to receive really good care, you can even see their diet prepared in one of the primate houses. The wolves, bear, and deer exhibits are the highlight of the zoo, with amazing viewing platforms and large enclosures. The eagles could use larger enclosures but overall it was a wonderful experience.
Kevin Casey — Google review
It has been recently renovated and it looks great. For the visiting it is better to choose morning or evening time when animals are more active, during the midday heat, they are simply hiding and one can not see many species.

Oleksandr Zdir — Google review
An okay zoo (as far as zoos go), altough some animals clearly dont have enough space. Little by little, that situation has been improving, and the animals seem to be well fed. Unfortunately, some of them are clearly depressed, if not because of the lack of space, its because of the lack of mates to socialize.
Compact gardens edging the Dnieper River, with picnic benches, water features & seasonal rose beds.
I went looking for a dad here but I found a dog instead. it was love at first sight

One of the best places in the city. Very crowded during summer. Nice area to relax after hot day close by the river.
Neo-classical 18th-century palace, plus a huge park with lakes & many tree species, on an estate.
It is certainly a place to visit in the Eastern part of Ukraine. The mansion of sugar kings of the Russian Empire Ternovsky and Kharitonenko had been a local nest for Ukrainian and Russian artistic and literature elite of XIX century. Ukrainian literature icon Taras Shevchenko and Russian composer Mikhail Glinka spent their best times here. The Palace is well-looked after but still requires major renovation, the part needs an expert touch too. If the weather is good this place would give you unforgettable memories and joy.

Located in central Ukraine, Poltava is a city that offers a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy. The Round Square is home to the Monument of Glory which commemorates the 1709 Battle of Poltava, while the Poltava Art Museum showcases regional and international art collections. Other highlights include the Museum of Local Lore, which displays folk art and Cossack relics, and the Botanical Garden with its arboretum and flower museum.
The Museum of the History of the Poltava Battle is located on the site where a significant battle took place during the Swedish invasion of Russia in July 1709. It offers an authentic experience and has a cozy atmosphere, with a church that is not excessively ornate. The museum can be explored in around 20-40 minutes, depending on whether visitors opt for a guided tour or not.
It was a very sombering feeling that came over me while I was standing on the battlefield 312 years after the battle. I was there in the same weather as all those men that fought and died there in that field. 32 degrees of heat snd clear skies. I can just imagine how it must have smelled of gunpowder and death that day
