Loved the south slope. The north slope is too sleep steep to get a proper speed for carving.

It is a rather small ski resort beyond the Arctic circle. This place is best fit for skiers-beginners and the snowboard freeriders. The slopes are actually quite easy. Their difficulties are overestimated in the map. In fact, the black slopes are red ones, the red slopes are actually blue ones, etc. There are a gondola lift, a chairlift, some T-bar lifts. It is usually much snow there. It also may be very cold in winter. So, the best time for visiting is april-may.

Waanzinnig mooi park.

Insanely beautiful park. The river Oulanka, which largely flows through a gorge here, is more than beautiful, together with the very dense primeval forests make this park a real winner. There are several parking spaces around the park, from which well-signposted hiking trails lead through the park. Various routes are suitable for a day trip, others such as the bear trail take several days. The park also has a number of simple overnight huts and a beautiful visitor center (stuffed bears).
Although the park is located on the Russian border (many bears) and has a large bear population, the chance of seeing a bear is minimal.
The park can suffer from extreme numbers of mosquitoes, multi-day hikers be warned. The Finnish multi-day hikers we encountered were still completely covered in lumps, despite wearing all kinds of equipment, including surgical gloves.
Nevertheless, the park is highly recommended.

Amazing place to see Finnish nature shaped waterfall at its best! Just a kilometer away from the car park. Quite easy road all the way. You should definitely go and visit this place if you have the change.

Beautiful hiking trails with easily identifiable paths. Signs are in Finnish, English, and Russian, so no worries about getting lost along the way. Public pavilions are available for free to rest, take shelter from rain, and cook over an open fire.

Salla Wilderness Park, also known as Salla Reindeer Park or Salla National Park Visitor Centre, is a hidden gem in the heart of Salla. It offers ample parking and various trails for walking or cycling between the visitor centre and the local ski resort. The park features reindeer sightings, old hunting traps, and an exhibition of nature. Visitors can enjoy lunch at the park and even participate in activities like husky safaris and reindeer sledge safaris.
We have booked two realy great tours fom here. If you are there in wintertime we can recommend the evening Tour wit the reindeer. And as well the husky tours.
Thanks to the guides on both tours which made it an unforgettable trip.
Friendly personal on the phone and at the reception.

Had both the Husky sleigh and the reindeer sleigh experiences, and it was a very nice experience. Prices are not for all pockets, but at least once in a lifetime, it's an experience that you should try. The park has breathing views, and the personnel is well prepared and friendly.

Salla Wilderness Park is a little gem in the heart of the municipality of Salla. It goes by several names including Salla Reindeer Park (Poropuisto) and more recently it has been named Salla National Park Visitor Centre.
There is ample parking if you are arriving by car and there are multiple trails between the visitor centre and the local ski resort if you prefer to walk or cycle.
There are so many things to see and do that it would be worth setting aside a few days to explore the area.
Maybe take a hike up Ruuhitunturi to the lookout tower where you take in the views as far as the eye can see.
The park is also a permanent home to around 60 reindeer. Half of which are employed during the winter as sleigh driving reindeer. There are guided feeding trips during the summer so you can get up close to the reindeer and get some great photos of the baby reindeer too. The Park's website has the information about times and prices.
If you're just looking for somewhere to grab a coffee and cake then there is also a café on site with a great selection of local foods. Once inside you can also find an extensive and really well curated nature display and gift shop with some amazing locally crafted traditional items.

Lovely place. There's a possibility for lunch. They have reindeer sledge safaris and husky safaris. We loved the exhibition of the nature there. And that shop had so many interesting things, I was able to buy only part of the things I wanted (lack of space in my suitcase). Our husky safari was a success. Loved it. Highly recommend.

We visited three times during our unforgettable week in Salla.
We can highly recommend the Reindeer Northern Lights trip.
Feed the Reindeers and the two hour ride out with the Huskys.
Something that our whole family will never forget!

Holiday of a lifetime. Driving the huskies, pulled around by the Reindeer. Snow Scooters. Deep snow walking. Deep snow skiing. First class instructors.Hotel served up good food. And to cap it all witnessed the Northern Lights.

We visited there few times on our holiday at Salla. The entrance ticket was 9e and after that you can visit the park as you want. At first time we saw couple amazing reindeers and got few great pictures. At the second time we came across a large group of reindeers. There is also few roads that tell stories about old hunting traps etc. Worth to visit.

Salla Ski Resort, located in the Finnish Lapland, offers 15 pistes and 6 lifts, including a snowpark and a leg-burning 1.3 km long run. The resort is family-friendly with gentle slopes for beginners to learn skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities such as tobogganing, husky safaris, and visits to reindeer farms.
Love it here. The people here are friendly and helpful.
The views and landscapes are absolutely stunning. The skiing and snowboarding is great for beginners and intermediates.
All the trips we went on were fantastic and all the guides were great. The view from the top of the Snowmobile trip is out of this world! Oh and the ice bar is definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic skiing location in eastern Lapland. Enough slopes for the whole family to enjoy a week of skiing and snowboarding.
Lots of easy backcountry stuff for the more adventurous skiier and nice profiles on slopes. Never crowded which means you get to send it from sun ip to sun down.
Only drawbacks are lack of more services so you’re stuck with only one restaurant which has room for improvement and there’s only anchor lifts so get your legs in shape before coming here😅
Second time here and we still like it a lot
Vesa Hänninen — Google review
Being the first time in Salla we were really positively impressed. Ski tracks and trails were excellent. Only minus is for the people walking on ski tracks eventhough it is totally forbidden. Salla, in the middle of now- and snowwhere is worth going. Surprisingly close to Oulanka, Riisitunturi and Ruka.
Markku Saarinen — Google review
Having heard of the good bike routes in Salla, we decided to rent regular fatbikes and headed for the Kaunisharjun kierros (about 15 km) as per the nice shopkeeper's advice. The route turned out to be a great mix of easier and challenging terrain with some duckboards and steep climbs and downhills along the way. There were also some absolutely beautiful spots and sceneries on the way. We finished the route in around three hours and had plenty of time for breaks on the way as well.
All in all, we had great fun and I recommend renting fatbikes here and taking the Kaunisharju route. Be warned, though, that there are swarms of mosquitoes and horseflies at some places along the route.
Matias Lehtinen — Google review
Salla is an isolated resort approximately 100km north into the arctic circle.
The rolling hills, evergreens and potential to see the aurora borealis makes this a stunning backdrop for your travells.
The skiing here is good for youngsters or beginners as the runs are very limited and not particularly challenging.
That said, we travelled here in February and practicly had the slopes to ourselves.
Be cautious, the piste turned to solid ice when the sun is out and made the skiing not particularly enjoyable.
Obviously due to the location, there is a good amout of Nordic track which is maintained and marked out really well.
Ski hire is reasonably priced and well stocked.
There is a restaurant on site which has a beautiful look & feel to it, however the food was regrettably average and over priced.
We had a great time here and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience the wilderness of Finland.
Ritchie Wilkin — Google review
We rented two efatbikes from here today (for six hours). We got excellent service from the booking till return (5/5)! Efatbike rental is definitely a great way to explore the nature of Salla. On our 50km trip we encountered reindeers, experienced the small canyon of salmijoen kuru and saw many amazing views. Highly recommended!

Great place to learn with pleasant slopes short to no queuing, the ski hire team were fabulous and knowledgeable the shop staff were helpful and supportive, the ski instructor we had was fantastic too. Drawbacks, short runs only T bar lifts, but wow! The scenery and opportunity to whitnes the northern lights, breathtaking, plus all the Finnish people we ever met were so nice! Thanks Salla

We had an amazing day. We were greeted by our Dutch instructor who also speaks Finnish and English. He was very passionate and enthusiastic, but most importantly you can tell he has a lot of love for all of the dogs. As he said, dogs are like family. We got a very clear and do & don’t s before we went sleigh riding.

The woman who explain the trip used a very violen and rud way of speaking even with kids. She is always screaming even in finish and she look schizophrenic or some problem with her mental health that nobody deserves to suffer.

Airy units with kitchens & balconies in an apartment hotel offering a restaurant & ski storage.
Very nice appartments. Ruka Ski Chalets are very comfortable appartments that would be suitable for a couple, a famliy or even two couples. Rooms have their own sauna. Ruka Ski Chalets are located aproximately 100 meters from the ski lift and 200 meters from the town centre.

The location is perfect next to he ski lifts and the restaurants. Of course not to forget the grocery stores and all the other services available next to the accommodation. The lack of parking places is an issue, although there is a indoor parking hall in the village usable for a fee of 15 euros (Winter 2023).
The apartment we were staying in the number 1 part of the building was pretty uncomfortable due to the noisy corridors. You heard all the people walking in the corridor, like there the door wouldn't have sealed any of the noise. The same was with the stairs, the apartment we stayed was next to the middle stairway between the parts I&II.
I wouldn't call this a luxury but a commodity instead.

Raatteentie is the place to visit if you want to understand something essential of Finnish history and character. Field of stones for every soldier who died in winter war needs to be experienced. There is a cafe with a little museum and funny old propaganda posters on the walls. You can by old army stuff from museum cafe. Clean toilets.

what a great place we should all remember the sacrifice that the men and women gave
Keith Fiander — Google review
The 60 hectare outdoor museum is free of charge, consisting of nature trails and 3 fireplaces on the trail. All the 2nd world war equipments, dogouts, and machinery are "sprinkled" around the trail.
The indoor museum, consisting of Finnish, Russian, and German war-time machinery, has an entrance fee of 10€ (adult).
The roads are not paved. The famous Raate road ends to a barrier before the Finland-Russia border zone. Do not cross the barrier.

Very interesting place to visit, there you can learn about the war between Finnish and Russia but also about WW2. There you can also see tanks, old weaponry, further more trenches and even reindeers if you're lucky.

Note that there is even memorials and sights along the road even further in after the museum as well

Recommended historical memorial and museum about Finlands winter war with Russia. Unfortunately a lot of information is only written in finnisch. As a tip: Use google translate app with mobile phone camera. It will live translate all the finnisch information pannels.
A natural phenomenon that is definitely worth a visit in Rovaniemi are the waterfalls at Auttiköngäs. This scenic spot is located in the Taiga forest and features a wooden log chute, hiking trails, and a rustic cafe open during the summer season. The area is perfect for nature lovers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Nice trail for a small scale hike. Well marked, rough and beautiful views. Dog companions also considered. Camp fire spots in the middle of trail and next to the parking place. Tells story about finnish lumber history. There is also small café in an old building.
Merja M. — Google review
Beautiful place, very old fashioned, with a lot of history
Max Xie — Google review
Auttikongas is a combination of several things that makes it a unique place to visit. There's a scenic waterfall, a looping 3.5 km hiking nature trail that runs around that waterfall, a cafe that opens in the summer and a logging dam with information boards about its history.
We visited the place in September. We did not try the hiking trail, but had some tea at the cafe and spent some time admiring the waterfall and the immediate surrounding area. The place looks serene and beautiful, with one side of the waterfall overlooking the calm river, while on the other side you can see the rushing rapids.
The history of this place is that loggers in the past build a wooden flume as part of log floating, which part of it still remains today.
To reach this place, you'll need to drive about 5 minutes along the gravel road from the main road. There are signboards informing you on where to turn. The parking space is open air and free for all.
Really loved the scenery here and if you're feeling up for it, the place is ideal for half a day out excursion from Rovaniemi. The drive out here takes about an hour, and you can pair it together with Ranua Zoo further down south. You can also hike here, the trail is dog friendly as well. It was quite an experience to listen to the sound of rushing water as you take in the scenery. Loved it.
Luke Phang — Google review
Well maintained route, difficulty level was between easy and intermediate. There is only one lean-to shelter on the trail, which can get quickly overcrowded. Observe for 'kuukkeli', which almost fed on my hands. The route has only a few steep elevations, approximately 100m. The 'vaara' is merely a 196m above sea level.
The road leading to the base camp was in good condition, parking lot can accommodate ~30 motorised vehicles. On the parking lots there are toilets, another sheltered fireplace, museum and a cafe.
Remember not to leave any trash in the forest.
alex — Google review
The 3.5km nature trail is challenging (a lot of stairways and some rock scrambling), but I loved it. The waterfall itself is incredibly powerful.
Emma Stancliffe — Google review
Beautiful rapids and waterfall with a lovely 3.5km hiking trail. Easy to walk, well marked and with several info boards and places to sit and even make fire and food. Well worth a stop if driving by or staying in the area. There is also a small museum (no entrance fee) that tells about logging in 1800-1900's.

We've been there in early February. Everything was covered in snow and looked stunningly beautiful. The path was still easy accessible. Even our two kids (age 7) had no trouble at all. It took us a good two hours for the loop track but we took some breaks inbetween.
The cafe was closed though. So bring enough supplies on your own.
Very good place for cross country ski lovers! There are many perfectly maintained ski trails for every taste. Forest and surrounding at the moment of posting this evaluation is so beautiful as it can only be in fairitales or dreams. No crowds. Peaceful and quiet place.

Great atmosphere and lots of activities to do. Loved the cross-country skiing possibilities there, beautiful scenery, eventhough it was somewhat difficult to follow the routes hence there was not a great deal of signs along the routes to follow the right path, luckily the loops are not that long so it's not a catastrophy if you miss a turn.

Ranua Zoo is a must-visit destination for those keen to observe the Arctic's diverse wildlife. The zoo boasts a wide range of animals, with over 50 native species including polar bears, lynx, wolverines and reindeer. Visitors can witness these creatures thriving in an environment that emulates their natural surroundings. Ranua Wildlife Park also features a petting zoo and outdoor trail where guests can enjoy watching the animals feed and play while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Expected experience in Ranua Resort Park for wildlife specializes to arctic animals and wildlife park. It's the northernmost zoo in the finland & in the world. The scenery is really amazing. Can't believe a zoo can be artistic with natural creations. Recommend to visit if you have time, good for a half day trip.

No Lights in Winter, bring your torch. Great time watching the Arctic animals, though many of them were missing due to hibernation or extremely cold temperatures. Recommended for summers
Gautam Singh — Google review
A lovely little zoo that is on par with expectations for being THE NORTHERNMOST ZOO IN THE WORLD. Many animals were shy as we went in November, but the birds were nice. We didn’t see the polar bear. I believe this is a common experience, so temper expectations.
Chad Taylor — Google review
A very well maintained zoo that is home to many cute and adorable animals. The path is one-way and is well marked out, making it very systematic and allowing you to visit all the animals without being lost. Conditions of the zoo were very good and the animals seem comfortable. There’s a wide variety of animals ranging from birds to reindeers and bears.
If going during the winter, some animals may be hibernating or hiding from the cold, so may be difficult to spot. Otherwise, it is quite an enjoyable experience going to a zoo in the winter.
If you are lucky or you go on the correct days, there are feeding time for some animals such as polar bears. Best to check the zoo website for information. Alternatively, can go around lunchtime when the zookeepers bring food to the animals to see them eat their food too.
Nahshon — Google review
Well worth a visit, animals seem more natural considering they are in enclosures, some may be disappointed that the animals are not forced on display but personally it felt more like you are seeing them in the wild, we went in the snow, but clear blue sky, absolutely stunning location although in places a little slippy, as of most of the country in snow!
Darren Stead — Google review
A natural sanctuary for the Arctic animals. During the winter, the animals move to hibernation, so you see few of them. It is recommended for summers. You can witness the polar bears here and many other arctic animals.

This zoo offers a good variety of animals to view at a good distance. Animals appeared to be well cared for.
Overall a good experience.

Excellent experience! Got to see 90% of the animals, including the elusive arctic fox. Was lucky enough to be at the polar bear and brown bear enclosures during feeding time (around 12PM) and the zookeeper shared some interesting facts : the brown bear does yoga and uses her paw to ask for a different type of food if she's not interested in what's given! Very cute. Spent 4 hours there. Went during vappu (May day)

Place is amazing. We saw almost every single animal (didn't see bears). I would like to come back in summer. Kinda it's must for me to come back. My daughter saw in a gift shop cute wolf paws mittens. We wanted to buy them in the end of our tour. But unfortunately there were too crowded. Couldn't even enter in the building with a that gift shop. And we couldn't wait cause we were with a group and had to leave.

We arrived in Lapland late Sunday evening and already covered thick with snow, our first excursion was to Ranua wildlife park aka the zoo.
I had high hopes for this place as it was extremely expensive through our travel company I believe it was an additional £250 English pounds for 3 of us (1 adult and 2 children) IV since been told the admission is literally only 30 euros or close on the door which was very frustrating.
However our trip included transfers to and thro and the use of overall, gloves and boots should we need them. Our tour guides were the arctic circle snowmobile. These guys are amazing and are more than happy to assist with taking photos making sure everyone is safe and enjoying themselves.
At -23 degrees and 4 hours of sun it wasn't looking good, the one thing that drew me to the zoo was to see polar bears, it was just too cold ironically we managed to spot the bear inside the enclosure door from a far very disappointing. The brown bear was in hibernation and fortunately the guides were so used to being here that could tell you exactly where the animals were likely to be.
We saw one arctic fox, a wolverine a couple of wolves, some large owls, musk oxen, reindeer and that was pretty much it. Please don't get me wrong this place has beautiful scenery your walking through the woodlands in snow which is pretty special especially if you live in England and don't get snow often overal the price wasn't worth paying to see a handful of animals.
There are two places to eat/drink here I believe one is a buffet style with a few options the other is mainly for hot/cold beverages. The buffet seemed very popular, got really busy at times and isn't really that big inside, I guess every one was seeking refuge from the extreme cold.
Also on site is a small chocolate/sweet shop they sold lots of different sweet confectionery.
A small gift shop inside (very small) can be very busy at times and not alot of room. Personally the prices were very fair. I'd been told Lapland is very expensive however I think it's like for like against London prices but maybe a little bit more expensive but your on holiday so don't mind paying a little of the top extra.
Think we were here for about 4/5 hours but my boys weren't interested in the one or two animals that we did see, playing in the snow was so much more fun very expensive fun but worth the smiles on their faces I guess.

I would highly recommend this zoo, if you wanna see Arctic birds and animals. I especially loved the fact that the animals were in huge enclosures, which meant they had a bit of space and could roam around.

Went on 3/3/24. Not many visitors at that time. Not many animals can be seen. In the Polar Bear area, only one Polar Bear can be seen. Not sure how many of them. We saw the Polar Bear playing and performing. Really cute! visitors are advised to follow the map given so that you don't miss a place to visit. Nevertheless it was a fun visit.
Ticket price : €87 (4 adult)

We also booked in advance direct bus to Ranua Zoo from our apartment (Laura Apartment A6, Rovaniemi). Service operator YourBus Ay. €60 for return trip/ per adult.

Great place.Lots of animals with great diversity.
We were lucky to see the polar bear ... that was magical. The brown bear did not appear though.
If you visit during winter, you can expect to see fewer animals ... A number of them were hiding due to the cold.
Getting there - there is a bus from Rovaniemi, but if visiting on a Sunday, do recheck the timetable as bus timings were different. Getting a taxi from the park was a hustle.

Enjoyed our visit, got to see a lot. Was a pleasant walk as well. In winter, a lot of animals hibernate, so missed some we would have liked to see, but all in all, it was good.

Enjoyable experience.
It was great to see animals in their natural environment.
Animals are spick and span.
The information given about animals is clear and superior.
Place is really magical with snow.
It's totally worth the price.
Plan to stay here 1,5-2 hours.

Ranua Zoo is an amazing wildlife park with several wonderful animals. The park has several different enclosures with animals ranging from snow owls to polar bears. It's truly an amazing sight to see.
We went during the winter time so many of the animals were less active, however that didn't stop us from seeing lots of activity.
The walk around the whole park takes around an hour and a half. The main attraction is the polar bear for sure, however all the animals are well taken care of.

We drove to Ranua Zoo from Rovaniemi in September, as it was a highly recommended day trip venue. The trip took about an hour one way, and we were glad to have visited the zoo.
Unlike other zoos, we really liked how Ranua kept the enclosures as close as possible to mimic the animal's natural surroundings. Their living space was also insanely huge and the zoo was also designed for a single direction, which smoothes the traffic flow.
We were unable to catch the star attraction, which is the polar bears during our visit, but it was okay as the zoo took the effort to explain that it was not always that you get to see them. Seeing the magnificent enclosures were good enough. Nevertheless, we were lucky enough to be able to view the brown bears and the wolves, which was quite the experience.
The zoo was almost devoid of people when we visited on a Sunday, perhaps because of the low peak season in September.
There were limited food choices nearby though, as there are only 2 restaurants beside the zoo, and Ranua town only had a fast food kiosk, so do factor that in. The zoo also has a gift shop and a place to park your dogs if you're bringing them, as pets are not allowed in the zoo, understandably.

A small zoo with some animals you wouldn't see in an English zoo. It was very cold and snowy so some animals, especially the large ones, were hibernating or just keeping warm in their shelter. I asked the person at the ticket office if they could tell me when feeding time was as I thought I might get to see some more animals, and was told, 'I don't know!'
I'm glad it was part of our holiday package as I would have been disappointed if I had paid a lot of money and then not seen half the animals. This is in no way a refection on the zoo, you just need to keep in mind the time of year you go.

Our visit to the zoo was part of a trip to Lapland to see Santa. We had 2 hours since we were traveling in a group and everything was planned out.
Тhe weather was cold, -20, but 2 hours were not enough to walk through the entire zoo. It is very big, beautiful, there are signs, maps and several toilets everywhere.
There are sleds that are used to take children for rides. Pfizer gift shop and candy store

Well maintained zoo with very interesting animals.
Even though it was a rainy day when i visited the place, I still enjoyed each and every step I took while watching different animals. The white polar bear was my favourite 😍
Highly recommended when you visit Rovaniemi. Definitely, you won't regret it!
Souvenir shop, hotel, restaurant, and pharmacy are also available nearby.
Tickets can be bought online in advance (you got to skip the waiting line) or at the ticket desk (expect to wait, depending on the queue).

After reading lots of reviews I went with very low expectations. It is true that half of the animals were hidden because of the snow, but I am glad they actually have big enclosures and spaces to hide and rest and not be forced to come out. Everything looked clean and well taken care of. We got to see the Polar Bear too! She went out for 10 mins to eat and stretch and then she went back. It was a nice experience.
P.S: the owls were beautiful and majestic!

Fab visit through the snow and ice to see the animals. Polar bear feeding was good. Had lunch in the restaurant included with the visit. Food was decent. Beer available although a little on the high side.

Unfortunately we visited in winter (11th March) and all the feeding times had ended on the 10th March. Aargh!! Plus many animals were either hibernating, sleeping, hiding to keep warm or just weren’t there. But a few were quite entertaining, including the snowy owls, the amazingly hyper wolverine, the wolf pack, musk oxen and wild forest reindeer.
Irene Krajewska — Google review
You need 2 to 3 hours to visit all the animals. At 12 o'clock, they feed the polar bears, and at 14, the foxes, which is quite a spectacle to see.
The zoo is large with much space for each animal.
They have a restaurant where you can also warm up if needed and a gift shop.

Our visit was wonderfull!! The tour was so beautiful that we had to go 2 times, and we are so happy that we did. Because the second time we saw almost all the animals. The staff was super friendly. We had problems to arrive but the crew helped us without a doubt. Would very much recommand.

Nallikari beach is a beautiful and serene destination situated in a winter wonderland. The white sand beach offers many activities such as swimming, water sports rentals, cafes, and cycling routes to explore the scenic beauty of the area. It is located only 3.5 KM from Radisson Blue Hotel, making it an easily accessible location for tourists looking to enjoy a clean and less crowded environment without having to travel far from the city center.
I went to this place in winter and had an amazing experience walking on the frozen sea. It was an out of the world feel. People have been walking, running, skiing, skating and ice fishing on the frozen sea. The first experiences are one of the best experiences and this was one such for me. Lovely landscape, completely white all around and a peaceful surrounding. In summer this would be another best spot to swim, camp and spend some quality time outdoor

Very cool museum with 40+ aircraft of all uses and sizes. This is accompanied ons of models and also very informative panels about the history of Finnish aviation including interesting backstories of the blue swastika and home-made planes Tiira. Another cool feature is that you can sit in real cockpits of two real fighter jets (just the cockpit part present in this case).
Part of the exhibits are outside but most of the museum is hosted indoors.

Very good a museum, it has a lot history and knowledge to read about. The exhibition is well-organized and marked. Feels like walking back to the history. There are plenty city buses from Jyväskylä. The small giftshop and cafe is clean and friendly. Overall it is a great museum! The cockpit experience is amazing and you can also book flight simulator in advance.

Awesome place for the aviation nerd 🤣 Got two and a half SAAB J35 Drakens... the half being a front with a cockpit that you may sit inside (along MiG-21 too, so you can compare the east vs. west experience). The exposition is focused on Finnish air forces alone, and is very rich, extensive and well organised. Time very well spent!

Military museum with moderate size in space and moderate number of collections. Anyway, the visitors can catch a glimpse of Finnish military aviation history. Artifacts on exhibition range from the earliest wooden- metallic surveillance plane to full-metal fighter jet, from the retired planes to shot-down planes. Worth a visit if you are keen to know Finnish air force history.

The museum itself is pretty good. There's an amazing selection of airplanes! My only disappointment was that there was very little information in English without putting in extra effort. That said, English is not an official language in the country. I'm just very used to being spoiled in the other museums and galleries that i have did while in Finland.

Cool place...fun stuff..have around 30 fighter planes and in couple of then yu can actually go inside and have an experience inside the cockpit of fighter jet. One can easily spend 2 hrs here, so plan accordingly. The best part is the museum tells history of foghter planes in finland from 1910s to now and the engines too. So, you can also have a closer look on engines and how they evolved with time as well as planes and their evolution with time. Most of the fighter planes had donated from finnish air force and. You can also buy soveniers too. The place have a tiny cafeteria, where yu can get coffee and some bakery stuff.

The museum overall is nicely setup with signage being mostly in English and Finnish. The museum has a nice collection of aircraft from the start of the Finnish Air Force, to the more recent era.
It was nice to see a wide array of aircraft in Finnish colors, especially the world's only Brewster Buffalo and a Hawker Hurricane. I think that the overall pricing of the museum is reasonable for what you get, and I love the fact that they have balconies that allow you to overlook most of the aircraft. The one major downside to the museum is the terrible indoor lighting that casts a nasty orange tint on everything inside.

Finland has a rich and varied aviation history. This museum has a wide array of aircraft reflecting the diversity of the Finnish air force fleet. Aircraft from the USA, Russia, UK, Sweden, France, Germany and perhaps more! The exhibitions bring the aircraft to life and give an in depth look into the Finnish contributions during WW2 and the cold war. A great way to spend an afternoon for the whole family!

Beautiful old wooden church surrounded by small cemetery and a lake. The interior is well preserved, all paints are original from 18th century. A small ski resort that has almost everything. It certainly cannot compete with Levi but the close proximity to Tampere and Helsinki makes it an ideal weekend trip destination. With sufficient snow, the resort offers small hills for beginners, plenty of red and black tracks for more experienced winter sports(wo)men and a jump&fun park. The tracks are illuminated and allow skiing long after the sun went down. Some of the lifts are a bit old but new ones are under construction. Plenty of free parking, service people, and possibilities to eat. However, prices for food and drinks are high and the (evening) ski pass could be cheaper too, especially when not all tracks are open.
I visit the ski arena around five or six times per year but certainly miss longer tracks. At least the waiting time for the lifts are usually very short.

Sibeliustalo, also known as Sibelius Hall, is a remarkable concert and congress hall located in Lahti, Finland. Designed by renowned Finnish architects Hannu Tikka and Kimmo Lintula, this modern wooden structure is considered one of the most significant architectural works in the region. The hall boasts world-renowned acoustics and features a stunning timber-lined auditorium connected to an older building by a cathedral-like foyer with expansive glass walls and tall pillars resembling a Finnish forest.
Such a wonderful place to visit. Take a coffee and come up. Enjoy the lake view. Don't talk for a while just see from the window

Live orchestral concert sounded really good from the middle seats. The row number light of the opposing row shined annoyingly straight to the corner of my eye while seated however.
Ladies toilet line was very long (as expected) outside the cubicle area, but moved fast during break time. Main hall outside the concert halls is architecturally beautiful with wooden structures and LED stars in the ceiling.
Cloak room fee is 3€ even if you have a season ticket. Cheap bag tea and filter coffee are +5€ from a thermos, no refills technically allowed. Other goods are available from the counter.

The Sibeliustalo is a beautiful concert hall. It has also received several international awards for its truly unique acoustics. Again: the remarkably great hospitality of the Finns - when the two janitors gave us a spontaneous tour of the house, including the concert hall which actually was not open to the public. A wonderful experience, thanks to both of you if you happen to read this.

This was the view from the steps outside the hall on the evening of Thursday 17th May 2018.
Classic zoo with animals on display including giant pandas, brown bears, snow leopards & more.
A really nice zoo in Winter. The pandas were sleeping but they woke up after a short waiting and went outdoors into the snow.
There are plenty to see during winter, but you better to have warm clothes, because it gets cold if you are spending 2 hours outdoors. Luckily someone had left fire in the fire pit so we could warm up. You can actually take your sausages with you and some hot drink!
It’s open only until 15:00, so you better get there early enough, but you don’t need to rush, because you can leave the tour later than the closing hour.

One of the best Zoo I have ever visited. Not too many animals but super nice feeling to be in the woods. See different animals and have a nice walk. The Pandas are amazing to see and they bring joy and happiness!

Excellent with smaller and bigger kids. Wide paths and small carts provided were a nice touch as we walked over 6km. A lot of small areas with grills and fire places to prepare/eat your own food. Also small cafes along the forrest route.

Amazing experience!!! We went in winter season and we couldn't see bears, I think some animals were hibernating... only the Panda was the exception because they are in some big rooms inside and we could see them, it was a really nice experience to know the zoo. I recommend this visit in summer , although in winter the snow is exceptional and everything looks beautiful too....

Amazing, even in colder weather, some animals are active. Reserve at least 4h for a visit

Beautiful small zoo with nice animals. Unfortunately, the panda enclosure was closed due to mating season.
The farm is very nice for small children. Plenty of place to run around..
We would love to visit again

It's like a beautiful walk in the woods with all these amazing animals, whose enclosures are as close to natural as possible. I would reccomend taking some barbecue sausages, cause there are a couple of magical places to sit down, grill, eat and enjoy the view.

Nice atmosphere in a healthy Finnish forest. Animals are well placed and seem to Be quite Happy. Entrance fee is a bit steep, though.
The Gösta Serlachius Museum, Museum of Art is a top-tier cultural institution in Finland that used to be the private residence of Gosta Serlachius.
Absolutely beautiful place up to world's standards. Combines classic Finnish and European heritage, modern and contemporary arts. Place itself is great, exhibitions are very well performed. The restaurant is highly recommended for the visit.

Absolutely splendid! It is the most beautiful art museum that I have visited in Finland ( artworks displayed, services provided, surroundings).

From an architect's point of view, the merge between new and old buildings was brilliant. The spaces give a fancy yet minimal touch without taking too much from the art on display.
As we went in August 2021 this is what we saw:
Banksy's exhibition was still on. A perfectly staged area with lots of nice descriptions and collections.
Santeri Tuori - Posing Time. With a beautiful nature dark immersed room and complementing sounds.
Jani Leinonen's - The Truth. With a stunning burnt attic like contrasting with a radiant and colorful vitro mosaic window with harsh modern society critics in a beautiful display.
The staff is super friendly and nice.
Worth mentioning the outdoors, neatly and beautiful gardens with so many panoramic natural views.
Definitely recommend to stop by and set at least 4-6 hours to really enjoy the place.

Fantastisk place. Beautyfull art inside and outside. High end sauna and hottub area made of beautyfull Finnish materials like art. In the big round sauna you are felling like you are inside a tree. Take a dip in the lake. Absolutely worth spending a day or two at.

A bit underwhelmed with the more modern art but location is nice.

Went to visit the Banksy -exhibition and it was also my first time at Serlachius musemu Göstä. A very fine setting for annart museum with beautiful architechture and well designed and maintained exhibition area.
Signage was clear, customer service great and space was well designed and lit. Good curation on the Banksy exhibition which definitely filled my expectations as a long time fan of their work!
One star missing for the remote location even though the milieu is super beautiful and all the green areas are well cared for.

Very easy to get to, to Park, very friendly staff, loved it
Perhaps the intention was to "push to the countryside" such event (Banksy exhibition), but it could be a bit closer to the main city

Stunned by all the art treasures found here, both contemporary and the classics like Schjerfbeck, Galken-Kallela and Monet. And I really recommend the restaurant, especially the picnic set if the weather is good.

Extremely interesting architecture in the newer part of the museum building. Comprehensive selection of Finnish artists paintings and sculptures. Excellent flavors at the restaurant.
Famed, unique destination offering village retail shops, restaurants & a kids' entertainment center.
This place was extremely beautiful and very cool. The hotel was unbelievable..gotta see for urself..

Big place with cheap prices and lots of stuff. Bit unorganized and hard to find stuff, but the amount makes up for it. Also you can easily spend your whole day inside just browsing the massive amount of stuff. Pretty good food too.

Very big ,offers variety of stores, very important for those traveling. Offers enough parking space for very many vehicles.

Finland's largest shopping center is located in Tuuri, Alavus. A popular destination among both Finnish and foreign tourists.
Jukka Perälä — Google review
Full of stuff that should not be sold and cant be sold legally, but for some reason they get away with it. Customer service was subpar, some of the customers seemed to be happy about the fact that they might be able to read a whole sentence, the products were low quality and many of them were so cringeworthy.
I thought that the stories and TV shows were just BS... Until I saw it myself. Please, dont go in there, dont support the business.

Huge place with just about everything you can imagine. I just wondered why the very highest quality items seemed to ve missing from the lineup. Only quite good, not the most expensive or best. It may be that we just couldn’t find the best stuff as the store is seriously huge and we only spent a couple hours in it.

Second time visiting this place. First time years ago was alright but this time it was much more expensive. I guess it is the biggest shopping place in Finland but it aint the best. Basically falls in to a category " what you don't find from here, you won't need it".

Just like Las Vegas and Disneyworld, it might be interesting to visit this place once in your life, just out of curiosity. It is huge, and has its own character. In the end I only bought some candies here.

The biggest shopping mall in Finland! All in one from expensive branded Marimekko to 1€ cheap stuff are available there. Buffet lunch 10.90€ is the best in the mall.

Loved it, got a chance to see vesa and his wife, good down to earth guy. Very busy place some good offers but branded items are as usual price, one can imagine what they intend from this shop. Very busy good get away place with kids and family.

One of the biggest malls ever visited. Even bigger than imagined. Reminded me about getting frustrated to find the door out, jyst like in Ikea. Anyway, here you should find everything you'd ever need to buy.
Thought there were thousands of popula, there were room and that wise safely to go.
Extensive collection of glass from Roman to Medieval to Modern vessels and artefacts expertly displayed. The museum follows the development of glass and the glass industry in detail. Set in an old glass factory, it also gives an insight into the Finnish glass industry, including the world-famous Iittala factory. The museum also boasts a truly impressive collection of glass-related literature. The giftshop is well-stocked as well (card payment available). Restaurant Klaas is good for a decent lunch break forming a well thought out complex with the museum. For a full day of exploring in Riihimäki, you can also visit the hunting museum next door.

This three-storie museum was a pleasant surprise. The exhibition's touch on the early history of glass-making and sprawls into Finnish glass-making all the way to modern glass art.

What an amazing place. I was so impressed. What amazes me, is how forward the Finnish design was and is. Designs of mid century , so modern. It is really worth a visit ❤️

The first floor of the museum presents the history of glass making. The second and third floors include beautiful sculptures, bowls and many other things, all made of glass. Two of the exhibitions are changed from time to time. The staff was super friendly and at the time of our visit in December they sold beautiful Christmas decorations.

Always good temporary exhibitions. Currently, Nanni Still. Lots of colourful and shapely glass. The smaller exhibition upstairs featuring student glass artists is varied and inspiring. Worth a trip.

One of the best collections in the world in a beatiful architctural setting.
If you enjoy beautiful lake views, old cars, bikes, bicycles, scale models and many other vehicle-related antiquities, this is a must see. The site has a lovely café as well for something to eat and drink after or before the museum visit. A few meters down the road you will find a viewing tower which offers stunning views.

Nice place to visit during a sunny summer day! Museum is free entry. Various old cars, e.g. Grandma Duck's electric car. Nice cafeteria with fresh "munkki" (doughnut). Also food options. I have visited many times during the years and I'll still visit.

A great collection of old automobiles and also model cars. Free entry!
In the museum there is a gift shop to buy model cars and souvenirs. In the same building there is a cafe, that sells hot food, pastries, and ice cream and has a great outdoor terrace to enjoy an amazing view over the lake. There is also a viewing tower next to the museum for a better view over the beautiful landscape. Beautiful place to make a stop!

Set along the shores of Hattulanselkä Lake, Aulanko is a tranquil rural area on the northern outskirts of Hämeenlinna. Leafy walking trails, an ornate pavilion, and sweeping views from atop the Aulangonvuori Hill observation tower are highlights of Aulanko Nature Preserve. There’s also a lakeside golf course, plus tennis courts and an equestrian center.
