The old town of Rhodes is excellent. You are living in history with knights and Kings and feel the stories of the periods .

Great and unexpected gem for us travelling all around the world. Check all my other reviews around the island.
Our top 5 places:
1. Paralia Prasonisiou
2. Old city of Rhodes but get lost from known streets and visit public market.
3. Archangelos Cave next to Grande Blue. Still hidden gem
4. Profitis ilias" Monastery
5. Kallithea Springs
We have been during low season so expericne may vary :) there is no uber and bolt in 2021. But car rental is a must. Cheap and easy. Nowhere in the world I have seen car rentals with such good rating.

The old town is something to behold... A great piece of preserved history.. Some very nice, well sourced restaurants amongst the standard tourist traps... But if you avoid the places with food pics outside your pretty good

Wow!! I had never heard about Rhodes prior to visiting this island but I will surely never forget the amazing day spent exploring one of Greece’s true gems. We landed at the port of Rhodes and from the first step on this stunning island you can instantly feel a sense of safety and serenity. The old town castle boasts some amazing shopping, and the beaches are among the best in the world. It’s very easy to get around by foot/Uber/Taxi, the people are extremely friendly, and the food is outstanding. Our family can’t wait to revisit this island and further explore all it has to offer ❤️.

One of the best summer vacation ever, the town is beautiful, great food, beautiful beaches despite the fact that Rodos Town doesn't have sandy beaches and the Old Town is a must see, at least one time in your life. Lindos is superb,Lindos beach and Tsambika beach are superb, this island is a must do.

If you like history this spot is awesome!...you're here in the middle of it. It's a steap climb but there are donkeys you could use to get up and down.
Many different concurors have left their marks...but luckely haven't whipeout all of the others...somethimes they found a different purpose!

A magical and varied island, full of deep historical architecture and rich welcoming culture. The food and wine was excellent, whether we ate simple local food or went high end. I had very little idea how liveable it would feel, as the old town has everything one could need to be comfortable. A slower simpler pace of living is possible here, and we were lucky to have stayed with a wonderful warm family that shared home cooked delights with us. We also found it easy to travel around and go to other islands. The weather is perfect for me as it’s hot yet breezy so I would recommend it to those who also enjoy that kind of feel.

One of the best Greek Islands you can visit in the Aegean Sea. Fun filled ! Steeped in history. Great sand beaches in the east of the island. Wind surfing and water sports in the north and west of the island. Loads and loads of hotels , restaurants and watering holes !! Enjoy late night fun at Faliraki !!

It's a great place to visit for lots of sunshine and great food. I'm gluten free and had no issues getting appropriate meals. I hired a car for four days and felt safe driving. I also took a couple of boat trips, one around the harbour and one to Symi. Rhodes is a great place for solo travellers, couples and families. It has something for everyone.

Very pleasant walks around the fortress and the old part of the city. He conjures up the history of this place and the entire island.

When I got down from my cruise, I got down into a trashy place, like the bad parts of the old town, but the next things make it a 5 star place.
There are very nice people.
I enjoyed the souvlaki and gyros there.
There are many places to see and the market and bazaar are nice.(advice: the market has souvenir shops with pornographic souvenirs, so make sure your kids don't see that).
Everything is pretty cheap in Rhodes and quality items are cheap.
I highly recommend you to visit Rhodes 😄😀😃😉

Rahmi M. Koç Museum
Museum
Specialty Museums
Museum on transportation, industry & communications with a car collection & some hands-on exhibits.
One of the greatest technical museums in the whole world I would say.
Excellent rich collection. I recommend to plan about 3-4 hours for visit if you like cars, boats, trains etc.
I expected the souvenirs to be more interesting in such place. And also the fact that railroad and historical boat tours are stopped now is disappointing.
Overall it is a wonderful place dedicated to an outstanding person!
Gleb Bibikov — Google review
First of all, I wanted to say that everyone should definitely go to this museum. People coming from abroad, during your trip to Istanbul, you definitely have a travel list that includes historical squares with historical monuments, but Rahmi Koç Museum is usually overlooked.
One of the most important things that makes this museum a museum is that you will be able to find every piece of modern history you can think of in the form of a collection here.
You will be able to see the process of cars from past to present, you will be able to see all kinds of classic cars, you will be able to see classic motorcycles, you will be able to see sailboats, sea boats, you will be able to see models of ships, something you have never seen in the collection, old musical instruments and many more things.
I have only one piece of advice for you, and that is to devote one day to this museum, there is an inventory that you can browse from morning to evening. You will take lots of photos, read the articles and listen to the works. If you do not do this, you will not be able to enjoy this museum.
I wanted to put a few car photos I took here. I hope everyone who visits will have fun.

It's the second time we visit Istanbul but we didn't know about this place for thr first time. The museum is absolutely amazing! We have visited lots of countries and different museums but none of them can beat Rahmi Koc. We stayed for about 4 or 5 hours there and it wasn't enough. You don't have to be or to have a kid to visit this museum. The place is suitable for all kind of ages!
Anca Dumitrescu — Google review
Wonderful for both adults and kids. No need to book before visiting. Don't miss it! Value for money ticket, I spent 2 hours there and u can see many many old vehicles, boats, engines and stuff there! I love the trams very much.
Minnie Ho — Google review
A must visit museum in Istanbul that is great for the whole family. It is next to the Golden Horn so gives amazing views at water level, has a very good restaurant and the museum itself never ceases to surprise me with new things despite having gone there several times. Perfect for kids as they will find boats, trains, cars, airplanes and every other possible mode of transportation that has ever existed in there. This is a great place to learn about the Industrial Revolution, about the automotive industry, about how olive oil used to be made, and just so much more. One review really does not do it justice, you have to go there and enjoy it. It can be busy on weekends but even then it is big that it never feels cramped. The pictures I uploaded are from the side of the museum that are located across the street from the main building as it is often forgotten by visitors and I only discovered it existed a few months ago!

I went just after 10am Saturday morning. Agreed with all the other reviews. There’s lot to see and it’s well kept. More staff that visitors. Couldn’t find a decent map of the museums and when I did, I ended up trying to translate. It’s not very informative when it comes to explaining what’s on show. Worth a visit. I did it all in under 2 hours but some areas of more interest than others.

One of the best places in Istanbul if you are planning to spend time in museums and found something interesting! Loads of equipment will not keep you bored and everyone will find something decent for him. Never mind if you are a 5 year old child or 45 y.o. marine engineer, this place with attract you and keep there for a long time!

By far one of the best interactive museums I have visited.
The four star is because many of the exhibits had their descriptions in only Turkish.
Rest, it was splendid.
Many amazing exhibits, working models and immense knowledge.
My favourites would be the ‘how it works?’, locomotives, Cars and outdoor exhibition.

Lesbos, a scenic Greek island and the birthplace of Sappho, offers a diverse range of attractions. From its university and museums to its castle and famous ouzo, the island has something for everyone. The capital city of Mytilene is a great place to start exploring, with its medieval monasteries like Taxiarches Mandamadou, traditional villages, and unique museums showcasing the island's cultural heritage.
Its one of the best greek islands i've visited. Nice place for a short holiday.

One of the greenest islands in the Aegean sea!!! It has nice places to visit and great food!!! But you should seek advice on where to go because there are several places with bad service, terrible access by foot and without internet access ( it connects to turkish providers and there are extremely high charges, you have to MANUALLY SELECT A GREEK NETWORK PROVIDER)
Alexandros Sountoulidis — Google review
I have travelled around many Greek Islands including in the last year, Naxos, Paros, Mykonos, Kefalonia but Lesvos is the one that steals my heart.
We came in June 2022 and loved it so much we returned in August 2022 to hire a car and explore more of the Island.
Food is Lesvos is great wherever you eat and in my opinion better cooking than the other islands and certainly more consistent great food.
First time we stayed in Mithymna on the outskirts of this gorgeous town and loved it here. It is busy but still so traditional and unspoilt. It does not feel touristy. Second time we stayed in Petra.
We travelled around visiting Mitilini, Skala Essos and many other places. A visit to the Petrified Forest is a must (so under-rated).
Beaches not as gorgeous as Kefalonia or Naxos but this island has a vibe that is the most special thing about it. If you want comfort and 5 star then probably not the best island though for you.

The third biggest island of Greece has many to offer to those who seek not only relaxing vacations but also nightlife. It's strongest card is the sightseeing, I visited Molyvos which has an old town and a castle and remarkable sunsets. The sea at it's best. The food great if you go to the right places.
Πάνος Παπαμιχάλης — Google review
A beautiful Greek island! Rather spacious and with changes of scenery. Many things to do, starting by visiting the capital Mytilene. Medieval monasteries, such as Taxiarches Mandamadou, traditional villages, castles; like Molyvos, beaches, unique museums, and cultural heritage wherever you go. On top of that, the highlight; the petrified forest park of Sigri. Do not forget to visit the thermal springs as well. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me and I will definitely try to visit again! People are so welcoming!
Marika Fotouchou — Google review
Very nice nature and cute villages where you can do very nice hikes. Greek food is amazing and restaurants are pretty cheap. In Mythilene there is really nice street art. This place is hell on earth for refugees trying to find a better life in Europe though, especially Moria is very bad. I wonder if the conditions for the refugees would become better if there would be more tourists coming...
Jana Meers — Google review
Petra and Mithymna are the best places to visit on the island. Eressos is nice as well but quite small and options are limited. There are lots of small villages too but it needs couple of days to visit by car. The roads are with lots of curves and twists so it could be tiring to drive more than hour. In summary, Lesvos is a great place to have holiday with good beaches and tasty food.
Fatih Degirmenci — Google review
Very very nice island with and nice people go a long way not the place full of options but a place to relax there is one main problem with this island is the media have killed its tourism because the apparent refugees throughout my 2 week stay here I say a grand total of 0 is fake news I was told they stay in the main town of mytilini but still I didn't see any there are people begging for tourism to come back the local family run business are losing hope that people will never come back it really is a nice island plenty to explore but not much to do would recommend the island it really is nice place to be but some hotels do your research first they can be dismal

There is absolutely nothing to see, an ordinary stone from which a tourist attraction has been made. The staff is very rude, toilets are 3 TL, parking is 25 TL, even after you pay, one of the staff appears and asks for extra money to keep an eye on your car in the parking lot (?). The only thing worth seeing is the view, but you can find such a view anywhere in that area of Turkey, and it's free.
ana kostic — Google review
We didn't buy anything from there but the view is more than enough it is so beautiful and a clean view that you should see. You can enter without paying and scenery is beautiful. it would make a really nice place to make a photoshoot at golden hour.
Zain Younis — Google review
It was a unique beautiful sunset and 5 stars, but the staff (like kinda mafia…) is absolutely disgraceful. We bought tea, glasses were dirty. They disturbe the peace by constantly warning people and their style was not pleasant. There was garbage at the entrance. I don't understand how such a spot was handed over to these people. The staff close everywhere up to the parking area so that we could not watch the view from another point. I think they bought the landscape too...
Zeynep Sanliturk — Google review
Very nice place to visit. Unforgetable view of nature. If you are trying to catch a good sunset around, that is the place you are looking after.
But still… there is a downside. As you can understand this is a touristic place and people running the cafeteria and parking are kinda mafia like. It is way too expensive here to park (you can park a little bit down for free) and also the glasses they serve is not so clean. People is really mean too.
Still for sure worth to visit place.

Very interesting place believed to be visited by the devil once. According to Greek mythology when the Greek goddess of moon exiled the devil from the heavens, this place was where he set his first foot, the other footprint is in another island facing this place. Besides that, the place had a fantastic view and it's one of the best places to sip çay while admiring the beauty of nature.

Unkept and tables dirty, windows dirty so god knows what the kitchen is like. Staff was playing with his foot so was disgusted about that . Went to watch sunset. Parking fee 30₺ 12/09/22. Menu orices are x3 of other places and self seervice🤦🏻♀️. View is nice. But atmisohere is bad not worth the sunset.

Great views. Easy to find on maps. This is the easiest mountain to access which gives you the best view of Ayvalik. Obviously there are other mountains to get this sort of view but this is the easiest to access.

The Castle of Mytilene is a must-visit destination in Greece, offering a rich historical and cultural experience. Situated on top of a hill in the northern part of the town, this castle is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. Originally built during the Byzantine period and later renovated by Francesco Gattilusio, it provides stunning views of the surrounding area.
One of the most beautiful places on this island. You can see and discover a lot of things and the walk by the castle and the sea is pure magic! Highly recommend!

I cycled from the centre to the castle and left my bike at the entrance with the guard who happily accommodated me and offered advice on how to make the most of my visit.
It was Christmas time and rather quiet but sunny, bright and warm.

Greek Ouzo Barbayanni (The Museum) offers an authentic experience where visitors can explore the 160-year tradition of ouzo production by the Barbayannis family. The small museum showcases the history of ouzo-making, featuring old distillation kettles, bottles, and photographs. Visitors can enjoy a free tour of the current factory and partake in ouzo tasting. The friendly staff provides detailed explanations about the production process.
Lovely place / hidden gem
If you like Ouzo, this is the place to go.
The staff / family is very kind.
A free Tour through the museum and the destillery, including explanations and tastings.
It's a Family business worth visiting.
Awesome Ouzo
Marc Hinnemann — Google review
This was a great experience. Very fine museum about the old fashioned way of production and the family. Afterwards I saw the production of the ouzu. Even though I was alone they took time to let me see it and explain the whole lot. A good tasting explaining the differences of the 4 types of ouzo.
VERNER ORY — Google review
Small museum about the production of local Ouzo. Entrance is free of charge. The staff was very friendly and explained everything about the history of making ouzo and of how they make it today. This museum is part of a family business that is already making ouzo for 6 generations. You can see old distillation kettles, bottles, glasses etc. Also many pictures. You get a small tour through the current factory. They produce for the local market, but also export to several countries. I'm from The Netherlands and they told me they export for example to Maastricht and Tilburg. At the end of the factory tour you can taste their 4 different ouzos. And of course you can buy their products as well. Regular bottles, but also gift boxes.
Patrick Schutijser — Google review
Well worth a visit, it is free. The guide gave a tour of the small museum and answered any a all questions. Then we went around the distillery and another guide explained the process. After we tried the 4 types of ouzo they make and purchased a bottle of our favorite. When I asked if I could buy some glasses the guide said we do not sell the glasses but I can give you two! 😀😀
Richard Blades — Google review
Nice tour with history of the family and introduction to the ouzo factory. Our guide told us to buy their ouzo there at the museum, and not in the mini markets etc., and so we did - but it was indeed cheaper at the markets. Not much but still. Otherwise very nice.

Best ouzo of Lesvos and Greece! All of the products are awesome but my favorite is Evzon. Very very friendly family owners and also the workers are so friendly and nice. Tour guide Yanni is a excellent man, he is explaning all the details of ouzo and Barbayanni. The museum is also amazing. Definetly recommend a visit to the factory and the museum. Also you can test the ouzo's at your visit and buy as much as you want.
Cuneyt Senior (Captain) — Google review
There is a small museum, but also the possibility to visit the production area for free and to try some Ouzo. This is a small family owned place, producing Ouzo the original way (at least that's how they advertise it)
Robin Celotti — Google review
The first Greek family that produced ouzo since 1860. Family run ouzo business, this place has a small museum depicting its history. Free entrance and free tour of the place. There’s a back side entrance that offers a brief tour guide of the distillery, at which you can also purchase ouzo bottles too. My favourite ouzo brand of all. I really, REALLY recommend this place!

Extremely good experience and explanation of making Ouzo, you could taste the ouzos of all the makers and as much as you want. You could buy anything with it and it was all free

We didn't take the guided tour because we are already familiar with the process but it was very cool to see how old gear was made and how they were making the ouzo in the olden days. You can also try different types they make and buy them.

I walked up the hill to the site. I walked slowly and it took 45 minutes. The views were really nice. The site itself was enormous. I recommend that you walk down the antique road to the middle and lower parts of the old city. Very few people walked down there so I had it all to myself. The mosaic in Building Z was really interesting. I did a lot of research before I visited to help me understand the building ruins but you could hire an audio guide (I didn't)

The temple is fascinating! It has such a rich history and offers a blend of wellness, entertainment, and cultural experiences. The thermal pools were believed to have therapeutic properties, promoting physical well-being and rejuvenation, while the theatre likely hosted plays, performances, and gatherings, providing both entertainment and a sense of community. And let's not forget about the mystery guy who sits middle of the stairs like a marble sculpture! It's like a silent witness to centuries of history. This place holds a rich tapestry of stories waiting to be explored, and I can't wait to learn more about it! 🏛️🌿

Approximately 2kms from the main site of Pergamon Asclepieion is definitely worth a visit.
From it you get a very good view of the hilltop Pergamon site and you can imagine how impressive it would of looked to anyone approaching.
Asclepieion was a place of healing centred around the springs which supplied it with water.
The main complex is very interesting as it is circular with many interconnecting passages and tunnels.
There is also a partially restored theatre and stoa

Really nice place with a lot of history but if it’s hot outside it is very tiring walking around. I wish it was more green!

We went as part of a tour towards the end of January and the place was very quiet. It is a beautiful location, steeped in the history of being the first medical healing space in the Western world. We were accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide who explained everything to us. We were lucky to be the only 6 people there and had plenty of time to take a lot of uninterrupted photos. Highly recommended.

Great archeological site, I would recommend a guide to explain all the history as it’s very interesting.
Only 4 stars because the toilet was very bad (only one for the whole site)
There’s some better ones in the little market across the entrance site

Very beautiful and very important archeological site that was once one of the first Asclepeions ever and one of the most important as well, which were the first form of modern-day hospitals.
I highly recommend visiting it if you’re in Izmir or its surroundings. (Pics are from July 2021)

Acropolis Lower Cableway Station
Transportation service
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
The Acropolis Lower Cableway Station offers a convenient mode of transportation to reach the Acropolis. However, if you wish to visit the museum located upstairs, an additional fee is required. Alternatively, you can choose not to go up and explore the area around the station instead. During such exploration, you may have the opportunity to interact with local vendors like Elif who sells delightful wild honey.
There is a cable car which takes you to the Acropolis but upstairs you need to pay extra to see the museum. I honestly didnt go up. I stayed down and bonded with a local lady named Elif who was selling the most delicious wild honey so I bought two jars and we just talked.
Diana Armasaru — Google review
Beware of misleading pricing information. Price list at the desk states it costs 250 TL one way PER CABLE CAR. Two of us came down from Acropolis and got charged 250 each (we paid at the bottom as there was nowhere to pay at the top). One way taxi door to door cost us 115 TL.
Martin Buzys — Google review
If you have a car you're better off driving up, same views and you don't have to pay to park at the gondola and then also pay for the gondola itself. There isn't even a parking lot, what are you charging for?

Best way to go up. Buy the Aegean Museum Card is cheaper to visit all the sites Permagon, Red Basilica, Asklepion, Permagon Museum and mach more.

Gumuldur Yali Castle Aquapark Service is a medieval-themed seaside water park that boasts a variety of swimming pools, slides, and concessions. This fantastic aquapark offers free admission on working days for guests staying at the Cactus Hotel. A whole day of fun and relaxing. They have their own shuttle bus from Izmir to the aquapark. There's a long queue at the entrance even though we purchased our tickets online and it wasn't weekend. The water is clean and there are sufficient life guards in the facility. Online ticket price is 260 tl per person and it contains a morning snack, lunch, and an evening snack. Soft drinks are free of charge and unlimited. There's no alcoholic drinks available and you can't bring it with you either. Single males aren't allowed in. It's a completely family atmosphere. Suitable for families with children. They have a private beach but if you want a sunbed at the beach you have to pay 50tl per person! Doesn't make sense at all! Not recommended on weekends and holidays. Shuttle bus from Izmir costs 90 tl per person and it's a reasonable price for the long way.

The waiting time to enter the slides is quite short, especially when compared to other water parks. Lockers are available on site. There is a snack bar in the aquapark and juice dispensers. Ephesus Ancient Greek Theatre, built in the 3rd century BC, is a remarkable amphitheater with beautiful marble columns and remnants of a stage. It's an essential destination to explore if you're in the vicinity. Hiring a guide for two hours at 500TL is recommended as they provide valuable insights about the site. Make sure you purchase tickets for both Ephesus and Terrace Houses exhibit; they cost 160TL each.
A must visit if in the area. Very interesting, we hired a guide for 2 hours @ 500TL well worth the investment for what you get back in information. Make sure you purchase the ticket to visit the Terrace Houses exhibit. The price for both Ephesus and the terrace house was 160TL each. We spent a total of 5 hours looking around and taking lots of pictures. We walked up with the guide and then back down by our selves. We used the bus system to get here but there are taxis that will take you for price of 50 euro's.
There are no toilets inside the site, so you need to go before you entering the park.

Alert ⚠️ slippery floors and streets. Can not emphasize enough how careful you need to be when walking through the whole city. Marble paving and rocks throughout the whole city. It was an amazing experience I did not expect. Learning the local stories of this place and relearning what you are taught in school.

It was a nice experience. Something unique, beautiful place. You can feel the history. It was a bit hot, 40 degrees Celsius, but it was worth it. Museum pass awards discount in inside shops for coffee, water, juices etc.

Really enjoyable half day trip. Booked via our holiday company so had a guide who was very knowledgable. We were lucky that is was quiet, I can imagine it being really busy in peak season. Nicely leaked out and the museum was very good; it’s more of a cinema experience as you move through rooms with a 3D video that plays out around you
If you are a bit unsteady on your feet then some of the walkways may be hard as you are walking on the marble that can be slippery. Slow and steady and you will be fine

This place is beautiful, well worth seeing. If you don’t get a tour guide I definitely recommend at least reading and watching a few YouTube videos about it beforehand just to be able to appreciate the significance of the theatre and the ancient city of Efes.

I’ve been to a lot of ruins but ancient ephesus is the best of all of them. The size is unbelievable. They have only excavated approximately 20% of this place and is still overwhelming. I would get there first thing as some days can be quite crowded. Make sure you wear good shoes and bring water.
Joe Boyd Jr. — Google review
It's very historical and fascinating. However the ticket price is outrageous!!! 40 euro for ruins?? I know it is historical and quite big (not so much) but the 40 euro is just too much. We didn't have a choice as we already arrive there, we don't want to go back just like that. The experience museum at the end was quite nice with all the video mapping and the staffs were kind and nice 🙂 (well for that price everyone should be nice)

Must-see attraction when in the area! It exceeded my expectations. It would have been nice to visit with a guide but you can also ask for a free audio guide when buying tickets. It does get hot here but there are places to buy drinks and snacks on either end and also one place in the middle by the library. There are trees and spots throughout that help provide shade when touring. It is best to go early or late in the day. The only thing we wish they had was an evening hour in the summer where you could be there for golden hour.

Awesome structure. The magnificent theater of Ephesus is a beautifully preserved and very impressive building. This structure, built of marble, has a width of 145 metres, and the height reached up to 30 meters. When operating at full capacity, it could accommodate 24,000 spectators.

We stayed for around 2/3 hours to properly see everything. The audio tour will provide you with some good information regarding the sites you visit.

Me and my husband visited with a tour guide who spoke to us about the history of Ephesus. It was a very cool place to see. We came during the colder months (January) and our tour guide said that was the best time just due to less crowds. We were able to take some pictures in front of the Library of Celsus with no people in the background.
Celsus Library in Ephesus, a 2nd-century Roman library ruins, is an iconic symbol of the ancient city. The columned facade with its two-story structure stands as a testament to its rich history. Visitors are suggested to get an audio or walking tour guide for better understanding of the place and spend about 1.5hrs here. One can also find friendly cats around the area and photographers who can take your picture for a fee in front of the library.
Amazing historical place that yet is available for many generations to witness how it was created then. Tour guide told a story “possible that the library was a meeting point to take the curious to another place underground near the library structure” Marble stones stay cool even when receiving direct sunlight. Definitely a must see when in the area.

This is a beautifully well preserved ancient Roman library, was the third largest of its kind and a must see in person! It's the most iconic building within the ancient city of Ephesus - and by far one of the most well known ruins in Turkey. The architecture is simply beyond exquisite and this was definitely my favourite ancient structure that I saw during my tour of Anatolia. There's lots of information posted inside the library, but it's even better to go in with a guide who will point out the key facts and better showcase some of the more interesting things to pay attention to.

Only the ruins of the entrance to the Library of Celsus remain. The exquisiteness of the walls and the sculptures on the roof are shocking. It is impossible not to sigh that the architectural skills and artistic achievements of the Romans more than 2,000 years ago were so splendid and magnificent. In the words of a friend, "If the library looked like this, I would want to go to the library every day without anyone trying to talk me out of it. It's very real!

Celsus Library
Ephesus, the fourth largest city of the Roman Empire has magnificent Roman structures that still preserve their glory after two thousand years. One of these spectacular buildings is the Library of Celsus which is counted as one of the biggest libraries of ancient times.
Rome transitioned from a republic to an empire in 27 BC and continuously expanded its territories from Italy to North Africa. Modern-day Greece, France, southern Germany, and Turkey were also added to the empire’s vast land.
Modern Turkey is full of well-organized Greco-Roman cities all around the country. Not only Ephesus but also some other ancient cities in modern Turkey such as Zeugma, Pergamum, Smyrna, Aphrodisias, Side, Aspendos, Pergamum, and Miletos are fine examples that reflect the splendor of the Roman Empire.
The Library of Celsus in Ephesus is not only the most striking building in the city but also one of the landmarks of Turkey, too. Taking photographs is a nightmare as everyone wants a picture in front of it. Visitors are enchanted by the fine marble work of the ornamented facade as it shines brightly under the baking Aegean Sun.
The library is located at the very heart of the city, attached to the monumental Gate of Mazeus and Mithridates that opens to Commercial Agora.
What is interesting about this building is it is not only a library but a mausoleum as well, as it consists of the tomb of Gaius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus who had been consul in 92 AD and who was the governor of the province of Asia in 115. After his death, his son, Consul Gaius Julius Aquila had the library built in his father’s honor as we read from the inscription on the building’s front staircase. The library was completed in 135 AD and Celsus’ body was put in a white marble sarcophagus which was placed in a crypt beneath the building. When you enter the main hall, you will see an apse right in front of you and beneath the apse, one can see the burial room that contains the sarcophagus.
Two storied façade is intensely ornated with 16 columns arranged in pairs. Columns at the center of the façade are shorter than the others which is an optical illusion giving the impression of greater size. A staircase with 9 steps leads to the facade of the Library. Lace-like marble work of the façade’s ceiling can be seen after climbing the staircase that takes you to the interior. The columns were richly decorated with the motifs of vegetation and mythological figures: Bellerophon riding Pegasus, a couple of Eros and Psyche darting from acanthus leaves, and the scenes of the life of Apollo and Dionysus.
Besides, four female statues placed in the façade’s niches are also remarkable. They represent abstract concepts and under the statues are Greek inscriptions giving information about their characters of them. From left to the right are Sofia (Wisdom’), Arete (‘Virtue’), Ennoia (‘Insight’), and Episteme (‘Knowledge’). They are personifications of the virtues of Celsus but also of the virtues the life of high Roman officials should have had. The library was restored with the aid of the Austrian Archaeological Institute and the originals of the statues were taken to Ephesus Museum in Vienna in 1910.

According to legend, Ionian Prince Androclos, B.C. He founded Ephesus in the 11th century. Legend has it that when Androclos was looking for a new Greek settlement, they went to the oracles of Delphi for guidance, who told him that a fish and a pig would show him where he would found the city.

The House of Virgin Mary is a shrine located at a pilgrimage site believed to be the former residence of Virgin Mary following the death of Jesus. The chapel at this sacred place is considered to be an important religious destination for many believers. It is widely believed that this holy site holds great significance and importance in the Christian faith, attracting visitors from all over the world who come here seeking spiritual peace and solace.
This was the most humbling experience for me. God’s own chosen Mary lived her life in the most modest of dwelling imaginable. There is a certain serenity and tranquility to this place, which calms you, de-stresses you and soothes your angst, just like it is to be in your mother’s lap. It has now been converted to a chapel. Decent dressing and silence is the only ask of this place. Entry is ticketed but the money is taken by the town authorities; the chapel seeks no contribution.

Worthwhile place if you're a genuine believer, if not, it might feel like a grand hoax (read the history of founding up the place). However, if you're around, and ready to pay the 80 liras entrance (Jan2022) fee, the visit might be nice bonus for visiting the beautiful Ephesus area. The views along the streaming road upwards are precious.

This is a quick stop that guides take you to right before visiting the ancient city of Ephesus. Particularly for Catholics it's a very sacred place, as it is thought that the virgin Mary spent her last days in this house. No photos are allowed inside of the house. After walking through the house and paying respects, you can light up candles for prayers. There are also 3 fountains in a brick wall beside the path - there is a local legend that if you drink from all three and make a wish Mary will help make it come true. You can tie your wish to this wall at the end. As you leave there are many souvenir shops on route for religious trinkets and ornaments.

The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death.
While the Catholic Church has never pronounced in favour or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery. Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 2004.
Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life.
The shrine has merited several papal Apostolic Blessings and visits from several popes including Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI.

The House of Virgin Mary in Turkey is a serene and spiritually uplifting destination that left a profound impact on me. Nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking the stunning landscape, this sacred site exudes an aura of tranquility and reverence.
Visiting the House of Virgin Mary felt like stepping into a place of deep spiritual significance. As I entered the humble stone house, I could sense the weight of history and the devotion that has surrounded it for centuries. It is believed to be the final residence of the Virgin Mary, and the atmosphere resonates with a sense of reverence and holiness.
The interior of the house has been meticulously preserved, allowing visitors to glimpse into the life of Mary and experience a connection to her legacy. The simple furnishings and religious artifacts created an intimate and contemplative ambiance, evoking a profound sense of peace and reflection.

The house of Virgin Mary is a must see when visiting Turkey. It was really neat to see it and drink the holy water and write wishes on the wall. It was a quick stop up the mountain with our tour guide before we headed to the Ephesus. You can’t take photos inside the house. There was free bathrooms and souvenirs and places to eat. Overall really cool must come visit!

Entry fee is high. Most of the people park their car near the gate, but there is parking near to house. It is a beautiful location like a house inside a forest. I liked the surroundings much with sounds of birds.
Still i am thinking how virgin mary stayed there because it is on top of a hill.

Ancient Ruins
This is my favourite of the significant local ruins. There is a lot to see covering an area comparable to Ephesus but without as much having been reconstructed.
The highlight for me is the residential area where individual dwellings and street layouts are still clearly visible. The amphitheatre is impressive and well preserved but not as large as the example at Miletus. It is also possible to sit in the council chamber not seen at other sites.
The tree cover here makes this a more pleasant and leisurely experience. Each time I have visited it has been quiet which gives Priene a relaxed and contemplative atmosphere.
Paul Henson — Google review
Priene is a very good location to visit. Not as developed as some other places, but enough of the ruins remain that you can get a sense of what the town must have been like in ancient times. Much better than Miletos.
Very close to the small town of Güllübahçe where there are options to stay or good restaurants.

(Translated by Google) After continuing on the İzmir Kuşadası Söke road and passing Söke, Güllübahçe is a magnificent ancient city that can be reached easily when you turn from the Didim crossroads.
Although it is not as explored as Ephesus, the relationship between Ephesus is like the relationship between İzmir Kuşadası.
It leans back on the mountain and dominates the Söke plain.
The entrance fee is also much more affordable compared to the ancient city of Ephesus.
Afterwards, it is recommended to eat fresh and fish at sunset in the shabby fishermen's restaurants in Doğanbey Village, where old Greek houses are located, and on the outskirts of Dilek Peninsula National Park on the coast, accompanied by the smell of pine, the coolness of the sea and the smell of seaweed.

A positive aspect is that it is not commercial and you can be alone with the restaurateurs.

Akbük is a beautiful beach with wonderful views and definitely gorgeous sea and mountain. You can swim in every shade of green and blue in a few strokes. Very kid friendly, Nice restaurants and cafes for food and drinks. Heated showers is a big winner.People camp there too which cost 15 usd-50 usd for tend and it will be cheaper if we have our own tend.since its a seasonal operating place during summer june-sep I think the things are little expensive so its better to buy the stuffs before going there . mini bus available from mugla bus station and akyaka which cost around 3 - 5 usd suggested to have a day trip to enjoy the serenity of beach .

I had a good experience in akbük but i heard that it used to be more relaxing and beautiful over there but now its too crowded and not that good if you just want to chill out.
There's a beautiful forest there too but the fire department won't let you camp there unfortunately. And if you want to camp you either should find a place before actually getting to akbük or you have to camp in the campsites which are too crowded and in my opinion awful ! And overpriced

The water is amazing and worth a visit. There are a few small open air places that will serve you food and drinks. Paid 10try to park but worth every penny to swim in these waters. The beach is small but they sell chairs and umbrellas if needed but you dont come here to sit on the beach. I wish i had diving equipment with me.
The water is very clean and clear so that you can see fishes through the very deep water. Boats are for 12 people and the short trip takes about half an hour. The prices of the trips varies from 11$ to 13 $ depending on routes.

The river and surrounding ambience is phenomenal. One should really need to hop on a boat and enjoy the slow ride with tremendous scenery. However, I suggest you pack your meal, even get your drinking water with you. The restaurants are below average, sometimes far from edible and truly undeservingly expensive.

In the heart of Marmaris, Turkey, lies Youth Square, a vibrant plaza that replaced a dilapidated building. At the center of this square is the Dancing Fountain, featuring two basins that come to life with an automated light and music show at 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm during peak season. What appears as a serene fountain during the day transforms into a lively hub for music and entertainment at night.

Marmaris Public Beach, located in the heart of Marmaris, offers a beautiful setting with views of lush green hills and the sea. The beach provides essential amenities such as toilets, showers, and changing cabins. While the sand is mostly dry clay and not fine white sand, visitors can still enjoy the serene atmosphere and watch giant cruise ships passing by. The beach also boasts excellent facilities including showers, changing areas, and toilets.
Came here mid November we were fortunate enough to have lovely weather for a couple days, the beach is clean and if you sit near one the the restaurants or bars they allow you to use the Sun Loungers and give you free WiFi providing you purchase a drink from them.
Anwar Hussain — Google review
The sand is brown ,it's kind of dry clay in most of the parts, don't expect white fine sand. The sea is brown as well, if you go to the deep part it can be a little bit more clear. If you want to go snorkeling ,that's isn't the beach ,go to Turunç, Turunç is amazing.
Marmaris beach facilities are spectacular, showers everywhere, places to get changed and toilets. Amazing facilities.

Lovely beach with warm water and plenty of sun beds. The water is more clear in the morning. You also can find plenty of companies with water sports like sky jets never pay the price they asking always negotiate. The water is not deep so is good for children. Also restaurants as one after one.

A sandy beach stretches on the part of the coast of Marmaris and belongs to the municipality, it is crowded most of the time in the morning and evening, there are public sanitary facilities and places for changing clothes, as well as places for bathing and washing the body after going to the sea. There is a nearby park that has children's games.
Isam Al-Karkhi — Google review

Justine Bradley — Google review
I've got to be honest here, you can't really give this a title of a beach, it's far from that. It's like grit or builders sand, it's awful. The only reason I didn't give it less is because the sea is amazing, it's warm and very pleasant to swim and bathe in.

Setur Netsel Marmaris Marina is a stunning and popular attraction in Marmaris. The marina is surrounded by picturesque mountains, offering a beautiful setting for leisurely walks along the esplanade. Colorful boats with Turkish flags line the clear blue waters, creating a charming atmosphere. The walkways are adorned with flower beds, fountains, and sculptures, while an array of bars, restaurants, and shops provide ample entertainment options.
Marmaris Marina is a stunning waterfront destination that captivates visitors with its beauty and charm. The marina boasts a picturesque setting, surrounded by azure waters and lush greenery, creating a serene oasis in the heart of the city. Strolling along the promenade, visitors can admire the luxury yachts and sailboats, adding to the glamorous atmosphere. The marina is also home to a variety of cafes, restaurants, and shops, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're taking a leisurely walk, enjoying a meal with a view, or simply soaking in the tranquil ambiance, Marmaris Marina is a must-visit destination in Turkey.

Very unfair and unprofessional business of a pool owner in the Marina - no any discount for late coming guests. You have to pay 6 euros even if you came 10 minutes before closing. Such a greedy approach is a disgrace to Turkish hospitality.
Peter Soldatkin — Google review
The most dishonest marina I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I paid $7000CAD for a 3 month contract to sell my boat with an agreement that they would refund balance when the boat sold minus 25%. I sold the boat after one month (off peak season) and had 2 months which should have been refunded (peak season prices) they changed the numbers as they saw fit and refunded me only $700CAD for the 2 months at peak season prices. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY AND SETUR WILL NOT BACK YOU UP EVEN IF YOU HAVE AN ANNUAL CONTRACT. I would recommend only to my worst enemies.

not a bad place to walk in the evening
Veniamin Yulin — Google review
It used to be very nice and friendly, in the last two years prices have become unreasonable.
Let me explain: first of all is very noisy at night (both from night clubs but also fron other boats partying) but the worst thing is the high speed powerboats entering or leaving the marina. So once in while unexpected waves come out of the blue.
Additionally the behavior of certain staff + the refusal to speak English has become funny!
There is a rule in marketing called "willingness to pay", i don't mind the higher BUT downgrading the quality of your services is serious.
Spyros — Google review
Very nice well designed place with whatever a sailor can need such as warm water, every time clean big spaced toilets with hair dryer. Good shopping area with many cafes restaurants and sailing shops, a very close super market just next to marine, close to heart of Marmaris just a few minutes walk you are in castle historic area and bar streets.

Similar to its counterpart in Fethiye. The mooring fees are ok. If you dont leave by 8 AM you will get charged more. Departure at 11 AM will cost you more. Great marina right in the city, with good proposals in prices specifically for the small boats.
All paths and pantones are accessible and comfortable to move around.
The only one minus is a veeery narrow path for the boats to moore.. just toooo tight.
And, as you may guess its quite noisy at nights from the resraurants along the harbour.. but thats the price of being in the city.

The marina is impeccably clean and well run, the town has everything you cod need to refit your boat with. İçmeler Beach is a beautiful public beach with stunning views of rocky hills covered in pine forests. While the water is clean, there have been some reports of litter on the beach. However, amenities such as changing cabins and showers are available. It's a quieter alternative to Marmaris Beach, offering a better view and fewer boats. Visitors can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for a fee and enjoy various water sports in the crystal-clear sea.
This beach is ery close to Marmaris and for those tired of their hotel beach I would recommend this place. It is a bit more quiet with less boats etc and it has a little bit better view than Marmaris beach.
You can also find a lot of restaurants on the beach, mostly stand alone ones that are not a part of any hotel, check the reviews before choosing a place

Very nice public beach in Içmeler. The surroundings are just to die for, rocky steep hills covered in pine forests. Water was clean but not turquoise and the beach does not receive 5 stars because there was trash here and there, cigarette butts, bottle caps and so on even though there were plenty of trash bins all over the place. Of course people can be jerks and throw their stuff on the beach but this does not mean there shouldn't be a cleaning service. There are changing cabins and showers. I think this beach is far better than the public beach in Marmaris.

Sandy beach which is very strong point. Price for 2 beds is around 300 lira but if you order something from the bar it's free. That means if you order 2 coke then you pay 120 lira and have a bed. The Holy Monastery of the Taxiarch Michael Panormitis is a stunning and historic site dedicated to Archangel Michael. Rebuilt in 1783, this monastery features elaborate frescoes and intricate woodwork that leave visitors in awe. Accessible by ferry from Rhodes harbor, a visit to the monastery includes a stop at Symi Island where you can explore the town and enjoy breathtaking views.
Beautiful monastery in a stunning bay in the south of Symi. Famous for the icon of archangel Michael. It really is a place of pilgrimage and the traditional offering is a rush or Reed broom.

Beautiful monastery about 30 min bus trip from the port. Cost 10 euro return by bus, the roads are windy so if you get travel sickness make sure you take something before you start the journey! It was a 30 minutes stop en route from Rhodes to Symi . It is ok , not great , no entry fee , nothing to do . We didn't have a guide so we did not know what we are looking at. We had to search online . It is a small place that you can visit in under 1 hour , they have a museum (only religious orthodox exhibits ) that you can visit for 3 euros . They also have a souvenir shop of mostly religious items . Next to the monastery there are are a few restaurants and shops .

There is not lots to see here and while Symi is a lovely island I don't think it is any different from the rest of the Greek isles.
We bought a TUI trip from Lardos to Simy as a guided tour for just over 120 euro for two of us, which included all travel and admission to the monastery, but there really isn't very much to see. I feel quite underwhelmed and at every stage it was a case of trying to get every penny out of you.
The talk in the sponge shop and the explicit sales chat, taking us to a special restaurant so we wouldn't get ripped off, but we found a better local place with a more authentic feel, great food, service and not inflated prices.
Anyhow, overall the trip was okay, but wouldn't do it again. We have spent a fair amount of time travelling and not so much seeing anywhere. Felt a bit trapped in TUI land.

After a 90 minute boat ride (with incredible views of the Turkish coast) and we arrived at the Holy Monastery. While it is extremely small (and the lines are super long if you don’t get there early). Said to have been originally built in 450 BC, the church was extensively rebuilt in the 17th century.
The intricate wood work and icon inside the monastery are majestic, bringing many people to tears.
We loved the quick stop here and even managed to purchase a fresh loaf of bread from the local bakery.
It does get really crowded and there’s not much else to see // do. Make it a stop on your way to Symi, but don’t count on spending more than an hour or two.
Nick Stagge — Google review
If you are in Symi 8-9 of November and want to go to the feast day celebrations at this monastery (and you should go) it’s easy. Mini buses run from near Pantellis restaurant in Symi town on the hour (ish) from 7.30 am (10e return / bought an hour before). We had no idea about timings of events at the monastery and could not find anything online in English but we ended up arriving at 11am just in time to see the icon of St Michael processed to the war memorial and to hear the “cannon” explosions. I’d recommend getting there a little earlier. We picked up a return bus easily at about 2.30 having visited the icon, bought delicious pastries and watched the huge Dodecanese ferry do a full circle in the harbour whilst blowing its horn and being serenaded by the monastery bells. Great experience and the bus ride to the monastery through the mountains is beautiful.

A wonderful experience visiting this Monastery. The funniest part was that it didn’t seem like a monastery at all, more like a hotel.
The building is painted white and looks amazing as you arrive via boat. As we docked on our boat, the bells of the Monastery started to chime, welcoming us to the place. We had only 30 minutes here, but we saw enough to make us want to come back again for a longer stay.

It's a very nice beach with a nice beachfront restaurant. It's also a nesting place for Loggerhead Turtles and each nest is marked off for safety of the eggs. The beach also closes after sunset and no lights or loud music is allowed. It has won many awards for responsible eco tourism. Recommended!

I loved the place and wanted to stay for at least couple of hours, but we left within 20 minutes because many people brought their dogs and let the dogs wander around, and the dogs were "attacking" people, wether the dogs were attacking or playing with people, we couldn't stay and enjoy the sea.
Its worth mentioning that the entrance to the beach has a sign stating that dogs are prohibited in the beach

İztuzu Beach is a beautiful, 4.5 km long sand beach near Dalyan in southwestern Turkey. It is one of the main breeding grounds for Caretta Caretta turtles and is therefore referred as the Turtle beach. These turtles are on the list of endangered animals. Although it was were nice boat trip and it is beautiful beach and place to see, I think it should be forbidden for tourists to come there and it is essential to preserve this place and preserve the turtles reproduction without stress of human interaction.

I liked this beach a lot. The fee is not that much (2€ per car, no matter how many people are inside it), there are public toilets and showers (with cold, salty water) and the beach is clean. The water doesn't get deep enough for swimming for more than 50meters which makes it ideally for kids. You can also visit the Turtle Hospital (which is located close to the entrance). There is also shadow under some pine trees, but if you arrive after 10am most probably you will find it already occupied. At times it gets very windy. The restaurant inside has reasonable prices.

Beautiful, it is where the turtles go to lay their eggs. The surf is calm, the water is clear, the beach is clean. Lovely part of the world.

Beautiful beach and we were lucky we saw the turtles, the ride on the boat thro the river is stunning. You sail thro the reeds and see the burial caves. One not to miss.

Beautiful unspoilt beach that is home to nesting loggerhead turtles- a quick visit to the turtle sanctuary is worth a look, it's small but the work they do is great.

Nice place. When we went it was free but I think you would pay in season. Can't camp here. Beach is clean and had all facilities.
Visit the injured turtle hospital. This is free, they provide a really nice description of the work carried out and you can donate or buy some merchandise.

One of the best beaches in Turkey. 5 km white sand beach, have places on sun beds and authentic places with no people. Fall in love with this beach
Yulia Shaleyko — Google review
A perfectly clean beach with the perfect view and settings all around.
You can reach this beach via small boats that are always available.
The beach coast is very long, it won't appear crowded as much as crowded as it gets.
The water is crystal clear and the sand and water are both clean there are even sea turtles!
You can rent 2 small beach beds at 80 T.L as well or you can simply grab ur towel and sit near the water on the sand.
A great way to spend your day where you will enjoy ur time during the boat trip and see some old sculptures kn the mountains which were apparently old graves and enjoy ur time at the beach as well ⛱.
Those are photos on our way. And only 1 *with added stickers to cover up some ppl* when we reached as we were short on time.

The beautiful sandy beach was worth driving 1,5h from Marmaris. Plenty of space and shallow, clear warm water. The sea can be a bit rough but it only gives more fun. The car fee is only 50 TL and then 50TL for sunbeds...bud because there are so many people coming and leaving there's a good chance you will get sunbeds for free. There's a cheap bar with showers and changing rooms.
Arek Cyman — Google review
Just an all round stunning place. Lovely sandy beach, amazing views, parking and the facilities including beach bar/ restaurant, changing rooms and toilets.
There is a turtle rescue on the plot which is free and worth a visit too. We drove from marmaris in about 90 mins and was well worth the drive.

My favorite beach in Turkey, a national park and a turtle nesting place, with a small museum/hospital near the entrance where they fix wounded turtles. Huge, pristine stretch of sand between the sea and the river estuary. You can take a public taxi boat from Dalyan for 30 tl per person both ways, about one hour spectacular ride through the reeds, the last boat back to Dalyan leaves at 5 pm.
This 5-star hotel is in the seaside town of Rhodes and features a rooftop terrace with a pool and bar, as well as Italian dining. It also has a front desk, room service and currency exchange. There is also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and bar, as well as shared lounge.
I was a little concerned that this would be a noisy hotel being based near the beach clubs. So I requested a quiet room which was at the back of the hotel and this was fine... I hardly noticed the beach clubs and had a very peaceful sleep. TBH this is rhodes so evenings are always full of entertainment and I've stayed in noisier "quiet" retreats.
Rooms have great furnishing, loads of space and the air con is perfect. I thought they were fantastic and very clean.
Breakfast is a la carte and cooked very well. A special mention about all of the staff. I dont think I've stayed in a friendlier hotel with every staff member being happy to help or say hello. It wasn't a case of asking for breakfast items.... more a case of declining as I was so full! All at breakfast were great!
The roof top bar is great for some views and an evening drink. It's a city hotel so the pool is really a cool down pool rather than something you can swim in but you can chill out around it.
So the bonus of being near the beach bars is.... you're near the beach bars! And it's located in a great spot for exploring the old and new town too. There are so many restaurants in a short stroll that we only ate once in the old town. Our 6 night stay flew by.
Thanks for a great stay

Great room, staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were super yummy and made well. Really liked the concrete walls in room but balcony is shared between 4 rooms so don’t leave room door unlocked.

The hotel located 5 minute walk from the city center and is right on the beach. The staff is so nice. Everyone just wants to help you and make sure you have a good time. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. We had a great time and for sure we'll be back.

Given the very high price, I have no choice but to only give 1 star. Paid 350€ per night expecting a nice and spacious room with sea view. View was obstructed by another house. Very noisy vent outside, so opening the window was no option. Interior of the room was pretty cheap. Doors are so thin and like paper that you hear every move in the hall. Lamp was almost falling off the ceiling and so on. No own beach access, need to go to overrated beach club.
If it had cost half, I may have given 3 stars, but this way no more was possible. The staff was nice though.

This is absolutely my favorite hotel in the WORLD! The staff is outstanding! The rooms themselves are very spacious and the particular room we stayed in had a double sink and a very beautiful shower/bathroom area.
Accommodations:
- Delicious breakfast made to order every morning that includes almost anything and everything you could think of! Pancakes, Omelettes, Oatmeal, Yogurt, eggs, bacon, etc!
- Outstanding rooftop pool and bar area that overlooks the beaches of Rhodes
- You can order drinks and food at the rooftop pool or sit and lounge by the bar area
- The most accommodating, helpful, and kind hotel staff I've ever met
- They include a mini shaving cream, razor, q tips, and other small travel necessities you may need in your hotel room
- They also have a paid laundry service where they send out your laundry and you get it within (roughly) two days (we did this and it was so nice to have clean + fresh clothes on vacation - def worth the money!)

Great hotel, very beautiful design, the nicest stuff and the best location ever. 10-15 minutes walk to the old town to the clubs at night, a few minutes walk to the casino and less than 1 min to the beach. The Ronda place underneath is so good, really beautiful, clean and the food is really good. Thanks the hotel for the best vacation ever and especially to Nactatious who was really caring and helpful. Lots of love hope to come and visit again.

The two stars are only for the breakfast which is (a la carte), first day the service was bad, the staff not smiling, second day it was way better with another waiter and the hotel’s manager that was nice. The price is too much expensive (€325 per night) for a poor rooms, shared balcony everyone can pass and see you, the room is over a tennis playground where you hear the noise, and the wifi doesn’t work at all in our room!
First day we went up to see the tiny swimming pool, pillows were everywhere on the ground blocking the elevator door (they were cleaning) even at our room outdoor!
Also, We have asked for tissues they gave us toilet paper
The beach entry is not included
Never been so much disappointed by such a choice, it doesn’t worth more than 100€ per night
Lina Bouz — Google review
First the positive: The hotel is modern and furnished with love. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast is a la carte and freshly prepared. There is a fixed selection of sweet and savory dishes and every day an additional choice. The rooftop terrace won us over the most, in September there was not so much going on so we had this to ourselves on some days. However, the pool is very low (90cm), if that bothers anyone, for us it was fine. You can park for free in front of the hotel, we always found a parking space. The location is very central and you can be in Rhodes town in a few minutes walk.
The hotel is located in the second row on Elli beach. This is a bit confusing, because the pictures that some providers show on the Internet convey a direct beach location. However, this is a beach bar that does not belong to the hotel. The sun beds also belong to this beach bar and are relatively expensive (20-30 euros). The hotel itself therefore has no direct view of the beach and also no beach chairs. Another point is the already often mentioned beach bar across the street, which sometimes has loud music on until 3 o'clock in the morning. We had initially also thought that some vacationers exaggerate here, but we were convinced of the opposite. Who is really looking for peace and quiet, is definitely wrong here. The view of the tennis court is also not very nice. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay very much, but felt that the price paid was clearly too high for the hotel category.

Excellent customer service!! Breakfast was delicious and an enjoyable experience to look forward to. Given the high end menu, we felt that espresso and speciality coffee should have been available.
Wifi login is for the individual room but this wasn’t explained well and we wasted a lot of time trying to get on the wifi network.
Convenient location to walk to old town and the beach. Pool had a great view of the ocean.
Rhodes Castle is a Gothic-style castle from the 14th century that was turned into a residence for Italian Mussolini in the 20th century. The site of the original Byzantine fortress, it features museums of ancient and medieval Rhodes.
Incredible palace, with a lot of history. There are many statues and as we were exiting the palace we almost didn't see the stairs going up into the living quarters. It delves into what regular life was at the palace and also gives an overview of the history of the palace and Rhodes itself, with also a model reconstruction of a ship. Also very good value for money as you pay 10 euro for a special ticket combining the art museum, archeological museum, palace of the grand master and the church.
Huanhao Ye — Google review
10€ for a combined ticket including 4 different attractions. This one was not the best of them. The outside was beautiful and there was a lovely looking sculpture garden but you couldn't go in it. The inside was quite simple and the main feature in every room was the mosaic tiles which were all described down to the last morsel. However, there was very little else to see and the information linked to this was often written at the end rather than the beginning. The room with the knights clothing was by far the best one.
You will need to walk up steep steps, so it is not suitable for disabled people.
Coralie Pattenden — Google review
The views from outside were more enjoyable than the actual experience. I enjoyed the plaques that explained more about the history. If you're a historian and enjoy these type of things, it may be worth paying the 8 euros to enter. I'm a seasoned traveler and would have preferred to spend those 8 euros on something else. The outside of this place is definitely the highlight (and free). If you are on a budget, you can definitely skip this exhibit. If you've got the time to kill and don't know what else to do, this is a decent option. They have bathrooms at the entrance which were decently maintained
Nick Kiessig — Google review
Some interesting art in the main museum but most of the original statues were damaged by earthquakes. The outdoor garden is peaceful and has a few impressive frescoes. There is a small museum in the back with a few excellent pieces, some going back almost 8,000 years. Most of the castle is a reconstruction in the last century. The staff is very knowledgeable and can offer some historical insight.

Nice place! We went only to the Palace and had a look around. For that the entrance price might be a little too much, but you v

The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is a testament to the power and prestige of the Knights of Rhodes. It also sounds pretty cool. Stepping foot inside this magnificent fortress, you can't help but be overwhelmed by its architectural splendor and rich historical significance. A must-see for any history enthusiast (my son--- the history and archaelogy major) seeking to immerse themselves in the captivating world of medieval knights.
The entrance was 10 Euros. It felt steep but you will spend at least 1.5 hours exploring the huge case and its grounds.
Michael Garcia — Google review
It is worth visiting the grand master's palace, it is a piece of Greek history. It really preserved the medieval architecture and we admired the preserved medieval walls and construction the whole time. I definitely recommend a visit. I recommend buying tickets in advance through the official site of Greek monuments. It's called the Hellenic Heritage. For Europeans under the age of 25, a free ticket to this monument is available through this website. For people over 25, you can also find a cheaper ticket than on commercial sites that sell tickets
Lukáš Gába — Google review
Very interesting and well preserved monument. There was a “history of Rhodes” exhibition on when I visited which had a lot of items on display. After finding the way up into the palace (doorway to the right of the ticket office) I was very impressed with the way the palace had been preserved and the video storyboards were very interesting.
I went on a Saturday morning expecting to join a queue for tickets but when I arrived there was no queue at all, initially went on a Friday and the queue was enormous.
Les Cooper — Google review
It was OK for 8 eur, though there are plenty of beauties for free or much cheaper. Mosaic floors are not renovated, rooms are hardly decorated or equipped.
The most impressive it is from outside.
Slight disappointment for us, Rhodes provides much more great sights, even for free...
EU vaccination certificate was throughly checked.

I’m not sure what is not to like about the palace which the combined ticket only costs €10 and you can visit the archaeological museum & other attractions with the same ticket…
Lots of mosaics exhibited in the palace and lots of rooms, hallways.. I found it very enjoyable to walk around, although there’s not much texts about the history itself, only about the mosaics.
Definitely worth a visit just to have a stroll. It’s a nice palace building on its own.

Great experience. Just direction signs or a small map on the ticket is missing. Than my mark shall reach maximum of 5 stars. Otherwise very well maintained, with interesting exhibitions. Recommend visiting.

We bought a combo ticket 10€, the child is free, the price includes visiting 4 places. In the Palace of the Grand Master on the ground floor there is an exhibition of antiquity, many exhibits, it is interesting to look at and read the names, as well as find out what period of time they belong to.
On the second floor, the atmosphere of a real knight's castle. Unfortunately, there is little information in the museum itself about the life of this period, so it would be good to search and get acquainted with information on the Internet in advance.
We spent almost 2 hours, but for my teenage child, unfortunately, it was not so interesting as it was for me.

Beautiful, well preserved building. My husband and I visited on a Sunday, payment in was 8 euros each. Nice and cool inside, great relief from the heat of Rhodes. Definitely worth the visit, could easily spend 1.5. Hours here. Didn't appear to be guided tours/ maps/ information leaflets when we visited. Would suggest you bring your own booklet/ read information about the palace before you visit, so that you know about it.
Marian Tobin — Google review
This ancient medieval castle with a residence built in gothic style (very uncommon in Eastern lands of Byzantine influence), was carefully rebuilt by the Italians in 1940, who were then in control of the island. It is a real fortress, not a fake or ceremonial one, full of history, having been the headquarters of Knights Hospitaller. There's an interesting collection of ancient uniforms inside.
Jorge Bernardo — Google review
For 8€ you can take a quick walk through this ancient palace.
The atrium is neat and beautiful. It shows some statues. The main course takes you on the first floor, after a short visit to a small chapel. Following through various rooms, you can see differently styled rooms of which many show famous mosaic layings on the ground.
It is a nice little walk through the building. The whole course takes around 30 minutes, depending on time you want to spend there. It is worth a visit.

Magnificent castle with lots of old relics, tools, jewelry and pottery. You get amazed how old some of them are. The castle is floored with marble and lot of mosaic in beautiful detail. I don't recommend this place for children, but adults.

What a fantastic day out and we probably didn't get to see half of it as it's so massive inside the walls . There are plenty of places to sit and watch the world go bye while having something to eat and drink. Loads of small boutique restaurants and shops to mill in and out while you marvel at the scale of this place and how well maintained it was . I would definitely recommend going to this place.

What an incredible experience! This is one of the finest museums in Greece, and a must see in Rhodes. Everything about it was superb, a visit to remember for a lifetime. I visited off season, so there were no queues, but since it can get very busy during tourist season, ensure you plan tickets and your visit in advance. Definitely a place that I will come back to, with a proper medieval feel. It has to be experienced, you will not regret it!

Great place and full of history. Visited on a weekday in late September. Not too many people, although there were a lot of groups from the cruise ships when we went. We had bought tickets on line but there is limited signage to say that you can skip the queue.
We both really enjoyed our visit. Lots of mosaics (brought over from Cos by the Italians) statues, art etc. Keep an eye out for the windows which are made of thin sheets of alabaster - amazing to see.
I think it was 8 euro at the time.

Interesting bit of history in the Medieval town. We were lucky on the day to get a free pass to wander around the grand masters palace. An interesting insight into the story of the Knights of Rhodes.
Chris Barrow — Google review
Very much worth the visit and ticket price (8 euro) if you are the least historical or architecture interested. The castle is quite large with lots of interesting places and rooms to visit, with impressing interior and old mosaics, paintings and so on. Very well preserved. I spent around 2 hours during the visit.
Only downside is the missing signs with descriptions about the different rooms, it could be nice to read a little about the purpose of the different rooms and structures.
Thomas Rasmussen — Google review
Very interesting and lots of history and historical information. Well worth a visit. There is a charge to get around €8 but worth it. There is a small cafe and public toilet.
Michael Jobbo Lucking — Google review
Impressive palace from the outside. As soon as you enter it is necessary to buy a ticket. Either 8€ to visit the palace once or 10€ for a combined ticket (valid for 3 days) - for the Palace of the Grand Master of Knights, the Archaeological Museum, the church of Our Lady of the Castle and the Decorative Arts Collection. The ticket can be booked online in advance, then you can save the queue for the ticket purchase (left queue) and wait only for the entrance itself (right queue).
After the queue in the courtyard you are disillusioned and wonder what you paid 8€ for. But the "small" ticket also includes the way through the castle itself. For this you have to take a door next to the entrance with a large staircase up. Here there are then some nice things to see during a walk through the castle. All in all, it is worth a visit.
The toilet in the courtyard can unfortunately not be locked 🫣.

I will love that will be signs for the rooms and more so you know what you see. And i come to the end of march so a lot of rooms was close. It was decent for a small scroll. Is worth it for sure if you are under 25 so you can get ticket for free. Generally it was interesting to learn the story behind it and see the mosaic from Kos.

Neat architecture and upstairs rooms with pretty floor mosaics. Sadly during March 2024 low season, the Knight Crusaders exhibits were closed. But Combo ticket €10, covers 4 sites all near Knight St and no crowds/queues during low season.
The Medieval Villa is a 5-star hotel in the city of Rhodes, which was founded in the 4th century BC by the Mytileneans. It is one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited medieval cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The hotel features spacious rooms with traditional architecture and an outdoor pool overlooking the city.
This was the absolute best place I've ever stayed at. We were a party of 8 and spent three nights in Rhodes. The island is really amazing, but it was the villa that made our time there truly special. The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is one of the best museums in the Dodecanese, housing a collection of ancient artifacts & art from the island. The museum is situated in the Old Town of Rhodes and it is filled with findings from excavations all over the island.
Part of the combined ticket for 10€. This was definitely the best attraction of them all.
Such an amazing building with beautiful gardens and lots of artifacts to see and read about. All the information is displayed clearly and in several languages. Can't believe how old some of the artefacts were - some of the oldest were from 700BC.

Well worth it as especially since you get 4 different places for 10€! The garden area was lovely, all those arches too in the main courtyard. There are a lot of steps with no hand rails, so if that's a problem for you- I would give it a miss. I could have spent a lot of time here, just sitting taking it all in. If you are interested in historical pottery, then this is the place for you too! It had a really nice feel to it this place, I could go again and again just to take it all in. Although one can only look at so much pottery..

Only €6 to enter or you can get a premium ticket for €10 that gets you into 3 other places including the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights. There was a lot of burial urns, statues and grave markers, a garden with fish in a pond, I saw some lizards, and there is a cafe inside. Some of the items in the museum came from the Acropolis in Lindos so that was cool to see after visiting the acropolis.

Part 1: as they say on their homepage, the prehistory part is not available during winter. Unfortunately that also includes the Bronze Age, which technically is not pre-history.
Part 2 (general review): Nice collection and entrance fee is negligible. All the pieces are listed in English and Greek and structured in different time periods. The building itself is great and houses a nice garden where the mosaics are displayed.

Great museum which wraps around the whole central courtyard which then heads out to the open roof area and then leads on the the gardened area which is easy to miss as it's up the steps when you go outside to see the statues outside on the roof. Well worth the 6euro entrance fee and it is even cheaper with a combi ticket for the palace

We bought a combination ticket that included this and Palace and two small museums for €10 Euros. This ticket and the museums are worth the €10 Euros. I do recommend seeing this museum, at first it doesn't seem like are seeing much. Continue on and also up the stairs to next level and there are lots of rooms on both levels and then into beautiful gardens.

The collection contains quite a few remarkable pieces, but their guidance of visitors could be a lot better, as particularly the initial rooms seem rather boring. It does get better in the garden later.

Nice collection of art and historical remnants of the past eras of Rhodes. The hospital which it is located in is quite a sight itself, and the well spaced arrangements make it a calm and interesting experience. (I visited in March, it should be noted)

This museum was a pleasure to go to and explore!
The building itself is quite large and has plenty of rooms to explore and read a lot of history about Rhodes and past events!
This museum also has a good ratio of interior and exterior sites to view.
Would definitely recommend a visit to the museum
Only downside was the many rooms used only to display pottery, which could have been used for other items for more variation instead!
Side note: Make sure to visit on the weekend, as the museum closes early at 3pm on weekdays, and 8pm on weekends!
ItsJoelAnthxny — Google review
Worth the visit if you want to see / learn more of Rhodos history and you want to take a break from the beach. Had a few interesting pieces, but the building itself is also worth to see.

Nice gardens there and quite a few ancient artefacts to view.
It has lots of small rooms full of artefacts but they were too hot to stand in during our visit.
It's a shame that lots of the things to see don't have any explanation as to what they are or where they are from.
For around 6 euro it's an OK place to pass an hour.

This museum is in the heart of the Rhodes' Medieval City. We were passing by during the weekend and despite the €6 entrance price, we could enter free (together with many others). It was really nice to visit and learn a lot more in the history and culture.
From Wikipedia: The museum is housed in the monumental edifice that was the hospital of the Knights of Saint John. Construction was begun in 1440 and brought to completion in the time of the Grand Master d'Aubusson (1476-1503). The Museum contains various collections of archaeological artifacts from various parts of Rhodes and the neighbouring islands, including the Statue of the Crouching Aphrodite (1st century BC)

You will find some of the exhibits in the open air, and some on the second floor, located in many small rooms. Also there is the crypt with the tomb stones of the dead knights. If you enjoy looking at small antiques and reading their labels, you'll love it. My teenage child was not very interested. We were in July and used combo tickets. 10€ with other places, child was free
Irina Leskinen — Google review
Not a great collection, and sadly a real lack of any real context to what the pieces mean, and what they teach us about historic Rhodes. A 3-4 scattered panels give you a real quick deep dive into Rhodes’ history, but most of the written text is describing the appearance of the object which you can already see, in clumsy English.
I’m a museum fan and I was very bored, you should skip the entire top floor if you’ve ever seen a Greek pot or vase before and take the stairs up next to the toilets to see the open air mosaics and amazing garden.
Some crusader gravestones and Greek statues are in the large upper room next to this garden, fairly interesting, with a restored home in the garden, which again has sparse information or access. A clear lack of investment is sadly obvious here.

It was a lots of fun with the crazy sofa. You pay per person 12€ and it is definitely worth it. Everyone gets a lifejacket and the equipment is very modern.
The boat had 175PS and a lot of power. It is unbelievable how fast you can slide over the water.
On the crazy sofa you have handles that you definitely need during the trip. I think it is round about 10 minutes but absolutely worth it!

We had 2 days of wakeboarding in October this year with the owner of Tsambikos! Greatest experience on the island!!! The team is So friendly and they make sure everyone has a great day.
We really enjoyed the parasailing with my mom, everything was perfect, nice staff, good music, we were in the air for about 10min, super photos were taken of us, it was very worth 60euros for 2 person, a huge unforgettable experience. We loved it, highly recommended!

Wonderfull! Loved every second of it. It is so worth it🤩 about 10-15 minutes in the air and the view was fantastic, the staff was absolutely amazing and informative. We felt like we were in very good hands. I highly recommend this to everyone ☀️ this is a must! I was very nervous as I am very scared of heights but it was very fine.
Afterwards we took a swim in the warm ocean and it was just amazing☺️
Took a while to get the photos but the are big files, be patient.

Parasailing was amazing! Only 60 euros for double, they let you up in the air for a long time, the bay is beautiful, a really magical experience!
We did the "rings" too, lots of fun!
The staff is professional and the equipment has variety.
Highly recommended!
