By boat there is another feeling... you can see directly how much water worked in the past to realise this wonderful National Park. Many colours around, up and down you... so many green trees, blue or darker water, white grey cliffs, pink or yellow flowers... fantastic place!

Beautiful place with an amazing view …. highly recommended for day trip, boat cruise and outdoor walking.
Liberation Hall, a remarkable edifice commemorating the triumphs of Germanic tribes over Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation, is an impressive sight to behold. The building exudes beauty and grandeur that captivates any onlooker's attention. However, visitors should be aware that parking comes at a cost of 2.50 units of currency per vehicle. Additionally, due to corona restrictions, climbing the stairs leading to the top of the monument is prohibited.
We parked our car, then walked down towards the Hall where we took the first set of stairs up. Right in front of the entrance we had to wait a bit, as only a certain number of people are allowed inside right now. I don’t know if this was different before Corona, but I really have to admit, that it was amazing to not haveto share this Hall with too many people at a time. We could see everything and even were alone inside the main hall for some minutes which enabled me to take some really cool photos.
The Hall is round, and on the outside you can see 18 statues representing the German tribes who were a part of the battles against Napoleon during the wars of liberation from 1813 to 1815.
The main hall is 45 metres high and has a 29 metres diameter. There are 34 statues, and these victory goddesses have their hands resting on a shield, facing the inside of the hall. After heading up a couple of stairs, visitors can walk right behind these statues; they can also advance even further onto two balconies, both offering fantastic views.
Be aware, however, that this is a rather narrow staircase and in hot weather I’d suggest to walk this really slowly, unless you want to pant a lot once you reached the top.

This cultural landmark is amazing. I don't know why it isn't better known. It's imposing but also elegant. Make the time to take the stairs to the gallery level for a different view of the interior. We couldn't access the exterior walkway, but normally you can.
There currently isn't any real information about the hall inside but the gift shop has free brochures and there are a few signs with information in German and English on the path to the monument.
Road construction affects access right now (you either walk or, on weekends/holidays you take a shuttle).
This is well worth the effort to get there. Impressive inside and out.

Awesome experience! Learning about the liberation of a people and seeing the different locations represented there was very insightful.
Also, the views from the top are breathtaking!! The climb was well worth it.

Fantastic destination. However a bit light on how the Bavarian kings left out the part where they were eager collaborators of Napoleon. Some more didactic elements would have been great. Beautiful though

As this place Kehlheim is very beautiful, but only around the river... This Hall is also a place to visit there, just meters 3from parking. But what's the use if u have to read the history of it on phone.. Oe can do it from standing at the bank of river.. No no.. If u like to climb 165 steps, not having any vertigo issue, and love marble work, this place is for u... Else.. No

This place is amazing. Modelled on the Pantheon in Rome. If you can climb stairs go to the top the views are amazing

It is stroller and person in wheelchair accessible! Just follow the path around the Liberation Hall building and you'll see the elevator.
There's parking also for a fee.
Or use the blue tram city train for visitors from the city center.
There's visitor center office in downtown Kelheim too for more info.

Beautiful location. But be aware, entrance to the hall is limited time during the day. Check before heading there! (Still beautiful to see outside though) 🥰

Really cool, beautiful building. We had to pay 2.50€ for parking and when we walked back there was no longer anyone collecting money for parking..? Also I would’ve liked to know beforehand that due to corona were not allowed to climb the stairs of the building so that was disappointing.

Liberation Hall in Kelheim, Bavaria is a stunning architectural gem with panoramic city and river views. The on-site cafeteria/restaurant adds convenience, making it an ideal place to unwind, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
When traveling by car, it's recommended to use the car parking address as the destination to avoid abruptly ending up on the main road.
A must-visit spot in Kelheim for a delightful experience.

This impressive memorial, built by Ludwig I, offers breathtaking views from its gallery. Even if the hall is closed, the hike and surroundings are worth it. Don’t miss this remarkable monument in Kelheim! 🏛️🌟

History and views in one spot! A great quick (one hour) stop if your in the area. Parking was only a couple euros per car then entrance fee was about 4 euros per person. A small walk from the parking lot to building. You can enjoying the stunning structure of the building from both inside and out, along with a bit of history information as you walk to the building. If you can handle stairs and aren't claustrophobic, I would highly recommended walking the stairs inside the building to the top where you can have an amazing view from above in all directions. Or stay below and enjoy the acoustics and high pillars, surrounded by giant angel sculptures.

This place can be a lot of work to get to if you park at the bottom however it felt great making it all the way to the top! Lucky for me the rain held off and was a good hike. Inside the liberation hall which you have to pay to enter just go to the visitor center. But it has some gorgeous views from the top! Definitely a must! Lots of history marked in here.
Courtney Darder — Google review
A very nice historic place to visit. The place is well maintained . It has a very scenic and fabulous view from the top of the Galerie. Kelheim looks wonderful from top. The architecture was excellent, and loved the inner sculpture of the hall. I have taken pictures of almost all the 18 shields inside the building. One can climb to the top of the Galerie inner and also the outer .. it has 165 spiralling stairs to the top.
Bharani Shankar — Google review
Wonderful place to visit. It's located ~20 min of walk from the city centre.
Inside the hall it's cold, so be prepared and rather have a jacket. You can walk up through another ~200 stairs to get an extra view.
You need to get the tickets in the small building which is located another 300m direction west.

Amazing Rotunda! How Incredible!
And also, you can visit the upper floor using the stair. It gives you amazing perspective view. Enjoy!
It takes 25min by walk from the bus station.

Weltenburg Abbey is a historical monastery that was established in the 600s. It boasts one of the world's earliest monastic breweries and a restaurant. The church in this abbey is stunning, with breathtaking wall and ceiling paintings. Visitors can enjoy an introduction to the architecture and history of the church by a German-speaking guide.
Beautiful church, the wall and ceiling paintings are breathtaking. I was speechless. There was a lady introducing the architecture and history of the church in German (yeah, unfortunately) but all in all, it's worthy to visit

The boat trip to Weltenburg was fun. 40 min to get there and 20 min to return to Kelheim. Around 13 euros 2 way trip per person. Boats available every 1 hour. We went on Monday (May 23, 2022). I wish they accept credit cards in the boat. Only cash :(. Beer was delicious. The tour was fun 🤩

The monastery "Kloster Weltenburg" is very easy to reach by boat from Kelheim. A five-minute walk from the pier.
You enter the monastery courtyard through a large gate.
Opposite you can see some monastery buildings and the monastery church. The beer garden serves excellent monastery beer and hearty food.
A small ferry takes you to the opposite bank, from where you can return to Kelheim on foot or by bike.
A must see, when you visiting the region.

Wonderful place, it seems to be in a fairy tale... The boats, the river Donau and the cliffs, the impressive monastery, the brewery, the wide valley... sit down near the river and admire the unique 1st Bayern National Park.
Laura C NO — Google review
Last time I was here was 20years ago definitely alot more people come here now then back then. I don't recommend the big boat it's crowded and not nearly as nice as hiking through the forest trails you encounter very few ppl and the hike is beautiful as the forest is old and has little bits of history within to discover. There is a small boat called Zille that will take us across the river for alot less $$ this same boat will also take you half way down the river on the way back to access a different trail. Weltenburg itself is a beautiful monastery beer is great food is good to but it's def become a tourist place it's not as good as it used to be. Church is still very beautiful.

Very attractive landscape with paths for hiking and enjoying the nature. The church for sure was more incredible inside than it’s exterior.

Weltenburg Abbey
Visited on 23/9/2019
Our coach is parked at the foothill, and our group is transferred to smaller buses to the Abbey.
Weltenburg is the oldest monastery in Bavari, situated near the entrance to the scenic Danube gorge. The church, dedicated to St George, within the compound is of baroque style. In fact, the guest house run by the Abbey is called the St George Guesthouse.
The aroma of the cakes baking the in oven is too irresistible, and attract us to check out cafe.
The abbey brewery is the oldest abbey brewery still in operation in the world, and the products are on sale. My friend buys a 5 litre Keg of Weltenburger Kloster Anno 1050 beer intends to be drunk when we depart Germany in a few days time.
We then take a stroll along the river bank at the far end of the compound.

Beautiful place to visit. Good foodprocessor, good beer, but also beautiful church to see. The trip with the boat from Kelheim is a must!
Christine Nieuwenhuis — Google review
Visiting the world's oldest operating brewery and monastery is a worthwhile and underrated joy. The well-preserved church building has some amazing metalwork, sculpture, and painting to rival the most well-known cathedrals in Europe. The biergarten was wonderful, with great service, delicious food, and outstanding beer. There are plenty of places to relax and be at peace or sit with family and enjoy. The museum is small, and the brewery tours are usually booked out. Dog friendly paths and at the biergarten. Did not see wheelchair accessibility everywhere or to the church entrance.

Beautiful place to visit. There is a nice hiking area. The church is very old and very beautiful. The Biergarten has a nice bier on tap. Food was just ok, but bier must try. There is a nice well priced gift store. You can take a boat right from there. Parking is about 5-10 min walk from the place €4.50 all day.

What a great day trip. Walking a lot the Danube and get a beer! This hike is nice along the Danube. There is an incline that was difficult for some in our party, but very doable. Crossing the river to get to the monastery is about 2€. And the boat ride back to town is about €9. Enjoyable day

Run of the mill indoor shopping centre, really. Too narrow in places which doesn't allow much distancing. Lot's of chain stores, far too highly priced for mostly made-in-China quality.
I did like the handful of individual boutiques though...Some are well worth being discovered.
I also liked the casual bars and cafés strewn in between the shops.

The bar is very comfortably furnished and thanks to the small compartments in which the tables are located, it is not too loud. You can have a good conversation. The cocktails are really delicious and the food is even better. *-* And not too expensive! I will definitely stop by again.

The museum is great. Anyone interested in old cars and aviation with Zeppelins has come to the right place. Entrance fee of 9.50 euros is just about okay.
However, parts of the museum are not heated. Be sure to dress warmly in winter. A room temperature that was 3 or 4 degrees higher wouldn't have been bad.

Hello fellow time travelers! Today I want to share with you my experience of visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein, a medieval castle ruin in Bavaria, Germany. If you are looking for a place to explore some history, enjoy some scenic views and maybe even meet some ghosts, this is the place for you!
The Burgruine Hilpoltstein dates back to the 11th century and was built by the lords of Stein, who were very influential and powerful in the region. They had good relations with the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and founded the towns of Hilpoltstein and Freystadt. They also had a lot of drama in their family, like Heinrich III, who tried to become a bishop but failed, or Hilpolt IV, who died without heirs and ended the dynasty .
The castle was then sold to the Wittelsbach dukes of Bavaria, who used it as a residence for their widows. One of them was Maria Dorothea, who expanded and renovated the castle in the 17th century. She was also very religious and generous, and donated a lot of money to churches and monasteries. She died in 1639 and was buried in Seligenporten Abbey .
After her death, the castle was abandoned and fell into decay. It was used as a quarry and a prison until it was bought by the county of Roth in 1972. Since then, it has been restored and opened to the public . You can visit the castle from April to October and see the remains of the palas, the chapel, the bergfried (donjon) and the ring wall. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding countryside from the top of the hill.
The castle also hosts some cultural events throughout the year, like a medieval festival in May and a theater festival in August. You can also find a tourist information center, an archive and a community college in the former granary. If you are lucky, you might even encounter some of the former inhabitants of the castle, who are said to haunt the place. Some people have reported seeing or hearing strange things, like footsteps, voices or apparitions.
So, if you are looking for a fun and interesting day trip in Bavaria, I highly recommend visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein. You will not regret it! And if you do meet any ghosts, please let me know in the comments!

Brombachsee is one of the lakes in the Fränkisches Seenland, and perhaps it's the best one. We really enjoyed our hike around the entire lake (Rundweg Kleiner Brombachsee, about 5.5 miles to circle back to your beginning point) on this very pretty autumn day - air was brisk, leaves were very pretty at places (photos) and being near quiet waters always calms my soul.
We saw many bikers, hikers, walkers with dogs and even some four-wheel (side by side bike contraption with a roof) carriages along this circle route around the lake. We didn't observe a lot of wild life per se, but there were some on the lake. I think I even saw a large owl flying away in the woods. Does one swan make this lake a "swan lake"?
Obviously it's past the busy season now, and it seemed a little desolate, but a café and a beer garden were open. There were many swimming beaches along the way, so I imagine during the warm season (typically only for a couple of weeks in Germany) this would be a great lake-swimming location. Also, there was Wakepark in one of the coves where you can enjoy riding wakeboards being pulled by a leash with some jumping stands. I didn't pay attention to the price posting. It looked very cold with air temperature of only about 46F, so it probably would be better during summer time. I imagine it'll be very crowded then. There were plenty of parking spaces available near the beer garden / camp ground. All-day parking is € 5 here.

I am sorry to say this, however as of now I cannot suggest this place to any of my friends.
It is clearly an old place and it looks like it’s not kept up as it is supposed to be.
- There is algae in all the outside filters and the inside filters do not look really clean either.
- The little “cave” has residue on the walls which makes me feel icky.
- The seats were made out of really cheap looking plastic and the metal frames of quiet a few of the loungers are rusty.
a. s. o. ..
There is no reason to make a special Tripp to this location.

From the outside the place has great appeal with modern architecture and smooth surfaces, however once inside the age of the building shows. The changing rooms are packed full with changing booths and lockers with little room to maneuver around. There is only one male and one female shower room with 5-7 shower heads.
The pool area is cramped with chairs along the edges forcing you to side step past them. The concrete walls show signs of water damage and paint peeling all over. The two indoor “hot” pools were actually mildly warm with only small sections of bubbling water.
The area with the children’s pool and area was very nicely layout, however most of the kids were in the main area with their parents in the warm pools. Their behavior and loudness took away from the goal of relaxing.
A recommendation for the locker keys and access control to different areas, use a more modern method like a rubber wrist band embedded with a chip that is programmed at front desk. The coin chip works, however placing it in the wrist band holder with the locker key is bulky and requires constant attention to ensure it’s still tight or fastened to wrist.
Overall the place is best suited to take your children and let them burn some energy off. This is NOT a place to go if you wanna relax in a hot therme.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Also with a part of the local history and natural history museum, because the insight into a blacksmith's shop and a room with everyday and household items from the late 19th to 20th centuries make the visit worthwhile.
I was also greeted by a charming lady who gave me tips for excursions, including: to the Hutalmen, and had many stories to tell about Franconia and the shepherd's profession. Thank you very much for the extremely nice conversation!

On the other end of the park there is a ‘Aquapark’ for penguins, otters, sea lions, seals and polar bears - all visible also from under water through glass walls.
On every corner there is a different kind of play ground. Mini-train on one side of the park for small and big kids 😉

Frauenkirche is a Gothic Catholic church in the city of Nuremberg which dates back to 1355. The church features restored scriptures and historic artwork, making it a popular tourist destination. Nearby are the famousabeth market and the main market place, both of which are excellent places to visit during Christmas season.
Beautiful structure and architecture.. maintained very well .. The Frauenkirche , today the Roman Catholic parish church of Our Lady , is one of Nuremberg 's most important churches on the east side of the main market . It was built at the instigation of Emperor Karl in the Parler period from 1352 to 1362 as a hall church with three by three bays ; on the west side, towards the market, there is a vestibule, in the east, in the width of the central nave , there is a two-bay choir with a 5/8 end . By Adam Kraftcomes the western gable with a tracery tabernacle for the so-called " Männleinlaufen " from 1509, which is still in use. Many high-quality sculptures from the time of construction around 1360 have been preserved (partly heavily restored).

The Frauenkirche, also known as the Church of Our Lady, stands as a remarkable testament to brick Gothic architecture in Nuremberg's historic center. Commissioned by Charles IV in the 14th century, its grand presence on the Hauptmarkt exudes an aura of magnificence over the city skyline. Notable for its intricate sculptures and artworks, including the renowned Tucher Altar, the church's significance extends beyond its architectural splendor. Serving as a venue for imperial ceremonies, it features a modest exterior adorned with coats of arms symbolizing the Holy Roman Empire and other dignitaries. Inside, visitors are greeted by traditional Gothic elements such as a narrow nave and vaulted ceilings, along with treasures from the Middle Ages. Among its most captivating attractions is the Männleinlaufen, a mechanical clock dating back to the 15th century, which comes to life at noon with a procession commemorating the Golden Bull of 1356. Despite undergoing Lutheran conversion in the 16th century, the Frauenkirche continues to enchant visitors with its rich history and cultural significance, making it a must-visit destination in Nuremberg.

Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) is a 14th-century Gothic church located at Hauptmarkt in the city centre of Nuremburg. It is open from 9am to 6pm daily. This is one of the nice church visits you can make with sightseeing around the city.
The exterior is enjoyable to view. The facade includes a gable with small spires and other Gothic features. It includes the famous Männleinlaufen, a mechanical clock that performs at noon each day commemorating the Golden Bull of 1356.
Inside the church, you will find more traditional Gothic features including a narrow nave, vaulted ceiling, attractive stained glass windows, lots of sculptures and some artworks that are enjoyable to view.
In the end, smaller in scale and size to the landmark St. Sebald and St. Lorenz churches, Frauenkirche was probably our third favourite to visit during this trip to Nuremburg. There is enough to see here for 15-20 minutes of impressive sightseeing. Would definitely make time for this attraction if you enjoy historic church visits during your travels.

Frauenkirche or " The Church of Our Lady" is an example of brick Gothic architecture, and it was built on the initiative of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor (reign 1346-1378) between 1352 and 1362. The church contains many sculptures, some of them heavily restored. Numerous works of art from the Middle Ages are kept in the church, such as the so-called Tucher Altar (c. 1440, originally the high altar of the Augustinian church of St. Vitus also in Nürnberg).
The church was built in the grand market, in place of the former Jewish synagogue, which was destroyed during the Nürnberg pogrom (Jewish persecutions of 1349) which followed an outbreak of Black Death. Charles IV wanted to use the Frauenkirche for imperial ceremonies, which is reflected in the porch with the balcony, and in the fact that the church is relatively unadorned except for the coats of arms of the Holy Roman Empire, the seven Electors, the town of Nürnberg, and the city of Rome, where the Holy Roman Emperors were crowned. Construction of the church continued until the 1360s.
Charles IV's son Wenceslas was baptized in the church in 1361, on which occasion the Imperial Regalia, including the imperial reliquaries, were displayed to the people. References to Wenceslaus can be found throughout the sculptural program of the church. Beginning in 1423, the Imperial Regalia was kept permanently in Nürnberg and displayed to the people once a year on a special wooden platform constructed for that purpose. The current west gable of the church dates from 1506-8. Historic images show that this gable was once richly decorated with sculptures which were presumably destroyed in the Reformation. In 1525 the church became Lutheran and galleries were added in the aisles.
One of the most notable features of the church is the Männleinlaufen, a mechanical clock that commemorates the Golden Bull of 1356. The clock was installed in the church between 1506 and 1509. The Holy Roman Emperor is shown seated with the prince-electors surrounding him . The clock mechanism is activated at noon when a bell is rung to start the sequence and is followed by the trumpeters and drummer. Then there is a procession of the electors around the figure of the Holy Roman Emperor.

Though closed for renovations in the summer of 2023, the Frauenkirche's Gothic architecture remains a sight to behold. Its exterior facade, adorned with intricate details and soaring spires, exudes a sense of grandeur and reverence. While unable to explore the interior, the church's exterior alone is worthy of admiration, showcasing the dedication and artistry of its construction.

The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg is a majestic castle complex from the 11th century that includes a royal palace and gardens, offering breathtaking views of the city. Originally built as a court, it later became infamous for being used by the Third Reich to enact oppressive laws in 1935. However, its most notable historical event was hosting the 'Nuremberg Trials' after World War II.
I had a great time walking around the castle, appreciating the history and contemplating what my home country looked like at the time the castle was built and bustling with activity. I went on a rainy, dreary day but I still had good views of the surrounding area.

Quite a beautiful little castle. Really great museum. Would recommend getting the combination ticket as the view from the top of the tower is really great and the deep well tour is quite a different experience. They also got a couple of eateries on site.

It was amazing to visit this imperial castle of Nuremberg. The constructions were protected with 3 layered thick wall with around 10 ft thickness and 2 stages of different heights. The tunnels, the rooms, the towers, the gardens, the dungeons, the underground pathways designs and the city view points were awesome to see. I felt like I entered in the Game of Thrones series.

Amazing medieval castle that have been kept so well.
This is truly a castle with super strong defense.
Not far from the city center market, easy to walk to. Free to walk into it and there is a good view of the old town.
Even though Nuremberg was 90% destroyed during WWII, the old town was rebuilt and restored according to the pictures they had of the old buildings and structures. So, much of the history is preserved. Otherwise, if they had decided to build everything new, there would not be not much of the past left to see.
Very impressive old town city market with a gorgeous fountain and church, and you can buy fantastic food, flowers, gingerbread cookies….
If you are a WWII history fan, then you have a lot more places to see.
Really worth visiting.

It's incredible how well-preserved the castle is post-World War II. Its grandeur and size are truly breathtaking. From the top, overlooking the town, you understand why it was strategically placed there. The surrounding city walls in Nuremberg are still intact, offering about an hour's walk around them. Navigating the city is convenient; everything is within a 30-minute walk from the center, allowing you to discover hidden gems like bridges, churches, and historic buildings along the way. The castle itself offers free entry and plenty of areas to relax. Exploring its various sections, like the converted horse stables and food storage areas, is best with a knowledgeable local guide to delve into its history. Though it requires a bit of uphill walking, the panoramic view from the top makes it all worthwhile, showcasing the city's landmarks and beauty.

This iconic castle is likely more interesting from the outside than the inside.
Due to destruction during WWII, most of the interiors are redone as a museum. The anvient weapons and armor displays are nice.
Climbing up the tower was fun and offers great views. The deep well guided tour was the best part thanks to the enthusiastic and engaging guide.

Another stop on our city walking tour. End of September 2023. There is no charge to go through the grounds. Took us about 20min to visit. The buildings are beautiful to see, and the views from the top are spectacular! Definitely worth walking up.

Less stairs in the tower than St. Augustine’s Light house (St. Augustine, Florida USA). Beautiful piece of history- we spent the afternoon! A must see- most of the displays information is in German- spring for the audio it’s worth it!!

Very impressive castle. A capital of European Kings from 11 till 16 centuries. Place where Holy Roman empire was ruled from. Building itself is really big on the top of the hill. Views around are amazing. Very strongly recommended!

Historical landmark & museum with commanding views out across the city. This is a must visit attraction if you’re in the city and would like to know about its foundation. Excellent exhibits, some interactive with translations available. Has a reasonably priced cafe and some gardens for relaxing in too. It can be a bit of a slog getting up the hill though. There may be accessible ways to get there that I did t see.

Great views of the old city from here. There’s a nice cafe and gift shop at the top. It’s worth the walk up for the views and the way back down is dotted with great places to eat and drink. Definitely recommend this if you’re in town.

The well tour is very good and a must do, the tower has great views and the pictures of the WW2 damage are a great addition - The museum itself has good info on the building and its years and associated history, better than I expected and staff very friendly

Very pretty, caring lots of history. I was a bit disappointed that the crown was a 3D model and not something that would replicate best the real ones, but that’s understandable.
Not all the things inside the museum has an English translation, but it’s worth visiting the museum!

It has a really good view of the city. View point is open all the time, but the castle is closed on holidays and the weekend. Spent the new years eve here, and the view point was very much crowded.Inside it has a museum, a deep well, and a tower where you can take a better view of the city.

I still can't believe that the castle is still in such good shape after the Second World War. Breathtaking, massive, magnificent. When you go up to the top and look out over the town, you get a sense of why they built the castle where it is. I cannot get over how impressive it is. Also, Nuremberg is still surrounded by the great city walls. It takes about an hour to walk around them. That's the great thing about the city. You can walk anywhere and it never takes more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the city centre. Best of all, while you are exploring the city on foot, you will find many other gems on your walking adventure. From bridges to churches and other lovely old buildings. Enjoy!🏰✨️
Little tip: During weekdays you can enter the inside of the castles for free. That is in the morning until 10am or so

This is a beautiful place to visit. It has a very steep cobbled path leading up to the entrance and a lot of steps inside. I bought the combination ticket which was worth it. The castle is well presented inside with educational displays. The tower is 112 steps up a spiral staircase, but the views from the top were beautiful. The tour to the well was funny and fascinating. The tour guide knew his stuff.

Nice area to discover - the cave is just great, 45 mins route done by an experienced guide (only speaks German) seeing everything (BTW - take a jacket with you, inside is quite cold). Outside, the area is gorgeous so you could hike around and there are a few options to lunch - prices are reasonable and quality is overall good. Last but not least, the people working there is kind and there is a parking area next to it, but also some other lots nearby.

There is so much more than the cave in the area - if it's summer you can plan a whole day starting with thos amazing cave tour.
Even on a busy Sunday parking was not hard and it's €2 for two hours. There is a nice cafe on site and TONS of trails to walk on after the tour.
The tour itself was cheap and a lot of fun. They have lots of different language options as well. That have a family ticket that includes 2 adults and three kids for only €20. We brought light jackets and it was fine for the temperature.
100% would recommend.

Definetly worth visiting, they even have student discount (5€ each ticket) and give you a guided tour (which is in germany but at the end they'll play a english version over the spearks for you to understand everything about the devil's cave!). Addionally the tour guide was very nice to everyone. Beware that the path has a lot of stairs and can be a bit claustrophobic. In some parts you'll need to crouch a bit to be able to go through. But, again, it's definetly worth it!

Loved it! We bought 10 adult tickets and 10 kids tickets and that was a great time for our family of four. The two Rodelbahn were amazing fun, so that's pretty much what we did all day. The Hexenbesen wasn't as enjoyable, but that is just personal preference. I would definitely recommend getting there before early afternoon, as it seemed to start getting busier around then. (Translated by Google) A great basilica. Together with the medieval, fairytale knight's castle, it shapes the townscape of Gößweinstein. The facade made of bright ocher yellow sandstone is clearly structured. It is dominated by a richly decorated portal and the statues of the diocese saints, Emperor Heinrich and his wife Empress Kunigunde.
Inside, the baroque high altar attracts the attention of church visitors. The miraculous image, the destination of pilgrims from near and far, represents the coronation of Mary by the Holy Trinity. A powerful organ sounds during the solemn services, played by a gifted organist.
A visit to the neighboring pilgrimage museum is also worthwhile.

Burg Rabenstein is a charming 12th-century castle offering elegant lodging with vintage rooms, an eatery, and a beer garden. Located just off the highway, it's a perfect stop for travelers. The location is fairy tale-like and offers breathtaking views of boulder formations along hiking trails. Although the restaurant was closed during one visitor's stay, there was still plenty to enjoy. The castle decorations are lovely, particularly on the second floor.
We decided to stay at Burg Rabenstein for one evening in a trip around Germany, and it was well worth the stop. The castle and its grounds were beautiful. There is a local cave and falconry on-site; however, they were both closed for the winter (we visited in November). Even so, we were able to take advantage of the local hiking trails around the castle, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A free tour of the castle is included with your reservation booking, which was informative and enjoyable. The tour is in German. Hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and made our visit very enjoyable.
The room was very large, clean, and offered a huge soaking tub. The room was a bit noisy - you could hear everything in the hallways and rooms above/below. However, that wouldn't deter us from visiting again.
Breakfast was free and included a nice spread of meats, cheeses, granola, yogurt, various coffees, and eggs made to order. There was a dinner murder-mystery performance the night we stayed; however, it was already booked up. The concierge suggested two local restaurants, one of which was right down the road and had amazing food.
Overall, we loved our visit and look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Germany.

Nice hotel in a secluded location. Real castle with castle decor all over (knights, chests, torches). The suit we had was spacious and clean. No air conditioning but not to bad without it in Spring. The restaurant og the castle had a themed dinner. So if you plan to have dinner at that restaurant, call and reserve a table, otherwise you will have to look for dinner outside. It gets a bit noisy with various people wondering the hls during themed dinners. But they calmed down around 10-11 pm or so. Breakfast was a bit awkward. Serving personnel don't speak English and there was no scrambled eggs, potatoes or anything you can serve yourself. You have to order that and serving personnel was not very helpful. Wow, just WOW!!! We were blown away by the size and the number of different water activities and pools here. And to top it off they offer a discount for families on Fridays. The food and drinks were a bit pricey which I understand to make up for how cheap it is to enjoy this magnificent attraction. We arrived at 11 am and spent the entire day here. The lockers were numerous and it was nifty how they have your locker number assigned to on your wristband that allows the parent to charge for food and other services offered at the park. I have been to a couple of other water parks in Germany but none were quite so complete in functionality. Atlantis is by far THEE best water park to enjoy on any day. There is a heated pool outside along with bubbles. There is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. I will definitely be bringing my family back to this location for the summer and winter if they offer services. They have gain5 a life long customer. The food was prepared very quickly and completely from start of my order and the hospitality of the server was impeccable. I absolutely can not wait to go back again and again to make some core memories with family and hopefully friends. This has been one of the highlights of my trip to Germany so far. I definitely recommend Atlantis to any and everyone. Not to mention the location. It was only a 20 min drive from my home in Hoechstadt. How cool is that. (Translated by Google) The town hall square in Forchheim is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Franconia. The impressive town hall has stood here since 1402 and the picturesque timber-framed facade and the bell tower have been preserved to this day. The historic building is currently being extensively restored. It is worthwhile for visitors to take a walk through the city's 1,200-year-old history with one of the city guides. The three oldest houses date from the 14th century.
Forchheim's importance began around 850. A king, Ludwig the German, came to the city for the first time, and others followed. A total of three were elevated to royal status here. Important Reichstags took place here. In 1007 the city was given to the newly founded diocese of Bamberg. A city wall was built around 1300. 80 years later the electoral palace, which can now be visited as the “Imperial Palace” near the town hall. Times were warlike, and from the 16th century the city wall was built as a new, larger fortress. The mighty walls can still be seen in many places today. You feel like you're in the Middle Ages. Unfortunately, some green spaces behind the walls are becoming overgrown. That's a shame, as the facility is a highlight. A pity.

Schade.
Zeer mooi muzeum. De moeite waard. Dank zij het zonnig en warm weer.
