One piece of an advice, put some more English descriptions nearby the Finnish ones. It would attract many more foreigners!

Interesting museum, especially if you are interested in history and military staff. Nice cafe and a little shop. The territory is well kept. And a very interesting excursion - five points! Definitely worth visiting.

A really eye opening museum. Rather large area with lots of walking and stairs. Try to catch a guided tour. And some Finnish help... Not a team park. Reality of war. Use the 2nd road entrance, when coming from south. Less walking.

Very nice open-air museum about the Winter-War and the Continuation-War. Remains of the Finnish defence-line against Russian invasion, well kept and maintained.
The guided tour is strongly advised.

We visited the Salpa Line Museum in July 2022 and were very impressed with the way the history of this defensive infrastructure was documented as well as with the fortifications on display. We took the guided tour which is a must to obtain a good understanding of the logic behind the design and use of the various bunkers that were built along the Salpa Line. The 15-minute video documentary in the museum is very informative although it is in Finnish only.
I highly recommend this museum for anyone interested in Finland’s contemporary history.

A true piece of history, well planned and giving a great picture of ww2 defence technology. The museum and restaurant offers great meals for a good price. The entrance fee to the museum part also includes a guided tour tour in the trenches, bunkers and the surrounding area. Definitely go for this option. Very affordable!

Exellent outdoor place to visit, showcasing Finnish war history. Enjoyed walking the different paths partly rebuilt from pre WWII. Mannerheim wanted a barrier all the way from here to the arctic sea! But the war ended before it was all the way completed. Hundreds of kilometres tough was finished. Bunkers, watch towers, museums and more you can enjoy.

Great place to visit. Spent ~1.5h here. I wish information was provided in english. Still great place.
Sapokka Water Garden is a serene and well-maintained park located by the harbor. It boasts a variety of colorful flowers, exotic plants, and animal statues that are sure to delight visitors of all ages. The central waterfall adds to the peaceful atmosphere, while the lake is home to big and amusing fish that can be easily spotted. The park offers various walking routes with different levels of incline, allowing visitors to choose their preferred distance and difficulty level.
Great park with nice atmosphere. The walking distance around can be adjusted. You can also choose of how much you want to climb. Plants are selected carefully and there are some flowers pretty much whole summer.

By far one of the best parks, I have visited in all of Finland. Why though? The first reason is the awesome location of the park. Very easily assessable by both, public transport and cars. The park is situated at the tip of the island and the city of Kotka.
The second reason is the very beautiful waterfall and the lake where it leads. By far the best waterfall that I have seen in Southern Finland. And the third reason is the beautiful vegetation of the park. There is all from beautiful peonies to cool-looking and well in blending trees.

Excellent location for a nice walk in beautiful park full of flowers and plants and trees. This is a must visit for anyone visiting Kotka area.

Not so far from Helsinki.

A beautiful park and garden with water elements, bridges, breathtaking flowers and various trees with a Japanese touch. Even a small waterfall. Worth visiting especially in the summer.
Also possible to visit by boat or car. A 15 min walk from the Kotka bus station.

Well maintained place with beautiful and exotic plants and flowers. I recommend visiting while they bloom. There's big and funny looking fish swimming in the lake, it's find to spot them. There's also small animal statues around the park, the kids will like them.

A really nice park by the visiting harbor. Good for a short walk, seeing it won't take more than an hour so a nice extra after Maritarium for example.

The trash can was shaped a bit like a seagull! 😍 Also great duck statue, worth a visit.
The Maritime Centre Vellamo is an impressive museum located in a tanker-sized, wave-shaped building that showcases Finland's rich seafaring history. The state-of-the-art exhibits cover various aspects of maritime life such as navigation, fishing, and logging. One of the main attractions is the Tarmo ice-breaker, which dates back to 1908 and played a significant role in Finnish waters until its retirement in 1970.
Nice place to visit. Seaseigh is beautiful. Good for pictures, a very Instagramer place.
Cristina Herrero — Google review
The Vellamo Maritime Centre is a commendable destination for those keen on delving into maritime history. The exhibition is informatively structured, with the ship Tarmo being a particular highlight, especially for children as visitors are afforded the opportunity to explore it firsthand.
S T — Google review
Small and well made exhibitions, would recommend going with kids as well since they are not to long. You can speed through most of it and still have calm kids as you the adult get to read most of the information.
Niclas Nortemo — Google review
A very comprehensive series of displays. Boats, a couple of Aircraft used by the coastguards both prewar and postwar. Archeology, Forestry, Paper industry, Interesting displays for children to get involved with. Excellent description of the Sweden v Russia naval battles in the 18c artefacts. Finland's Maritime history.
And computer generated video. Excellent restaurant. One of the best museums I've ever seen.
John Gathard — Google review
Great experience.
We walked through the part of the main exhibition only (we had time constraints) but definitely we will come back to see the rest.
Objects are interesting in itself, but descriptions, grouping, subjects told us much more.
Some of them are really moving, like lifebuoy from Estonia ferry, some beautiful, like models, some funny.
Great time travel!

Especially liked the exhibition on the Battle of Svensksund. Museum is well accessible and has a nice café, too. English explanations of the exhibits are unfortunately not always available.

Initially positioning itself as a ship museum, it is now a very atmospheric place with many different exhibitions from the "underwater world" to the "Tragedy of Pompeii", which will suit both the tourist as an expansion of horizons and students too. interactive maps, 360 dioramas, lighting and directional sound create the impression of complete immersion in history...
Arutemu Arekuhin — Google review
Very comprehensive view on Finnish maritime history in the permanent exhibitions. The building also houses the museum of the Kymenlaakso region.
Antti Kaunism?ki — Google review
It's alright, the icebreaker Tarmo was pretty interesting (especially with the tour) but the rest of the exhibition didn't have too much to offer other than some old boats on display. Worth visiting if you're in Kotka or are driving by though, especially if you're interested in ships, maritime history etc.
Lukas Toropainen — Google review
We had a wonderful time in the museum, including 2 kids (2 and 5 years).
It is very big, meaning we didn't have the time to see all the exhibition pieces, especially the extra exhibition the museum had to offer.
The extra cost for the two ships on the outside was absolutely worth it. (Especially the ice-breaker was impressive)
Also the restaurant had good food, even for vegetarians, and the price is good.
Christian Greiner — Google review
Fascinating naval museum with multiple exhibitions. Excellently accessible, also all documentation in Finnish, Swedish and English, some even in Russian. Plan to spend two or three days if you can, I spent a few hours and was left feeling like I only scratched the surface.

Very cool! Visited on a Wednesday when it's free for all between 17-20. Didn't have enough time to see everything with peace and really take in some technical things on display
Have to come back for a second time.
The Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge, originally the summer residence of Emperor Alexander III of Russia in the 1800s, is now a well-preserved museum complex surrounded by wooded grounds. The complex features various buildings and natural attractions that offer visitors an opportunity to hike while exploring nature and history simultaneously. The main house houses a museum showcasing its rich history, but visitors are free to explore the territory for free without entering the museum.
Impressive place to visit nature and history at once. This is complex of different buildings and natural places of interests, so you can make a hiking and enjoy it fully. Everything is well-preserved and kept in original view, as it was not destroyed for couple of centuries. They have museum in main house, but you can visit the territory for free without entering museum. Highly recommended!

Nice place. The forest surrounding the cabin has been left to natures elements, and feels geniuine and untouched. One can dream of being the Emperor while walking in the forest and enjoying nature.
The cabin and the surrounding buildings and pouring water is an amazing experience.
I took some panorama photographs on old vintage Kodak Panatomic X film with Emperor Franz Josefs old camera from the same time period.

Lovely wooden fishing lodge, in woods with streams running through and views of the river rapids. There is a wooden boat which can be taken from the jetty at the Katariinan Meripuisto and lands you at the jetty at Langinkoski . €12 for return ticket and includes coffee/tea voucher for the cafe at the lodge. Available during summer check online for dates and times www.keisarinvanavedessa.fi

Very beautiful place to learn about the history of Finland and the uniqueness of Kotka’s geography. It was a surprise because the lodge is very rustic and simple, completely contrasts my initial thought that it would be extravagant like any other examples of Royal Russian arcitecture. The whole premise is more like an urban park than a museum, where you can stroll around and admite the scenery.
Minh Long — Google review
Beautiful scenery and plenty to see for free, as only the main lodge house is the museum. Toilets are free to use. The museum entry fee is a bit on the high end considering how small the space is, that said the guides were knowledgeable and told us about the place without us booking a guided tour (our party was the only one in at that moment!).
Minna Roust — Google review
Really good place to see the rapids and visit the river. We were there a but late so the lodge wasn't open for public anymore (closed at 6pm) but still it was good visit. There are good paths to explore the area on your own and also comprehensive signs that give you good knowledge of the area's history as Tsar's fishing place.

Such a lovely Place. Maybe not worth the 8 EUR to go in but nice to think one is supporting the place with the entrance ticket. Worth a stop!
clapar parcla — Google review
Oh the view's amazing! There's a distinct weird smell - prolly the fishes, not sure. Haha. But the nature's exquisite enough to make you ignore the smell. It was end of winter when we visited and some parts of the river was still frozen but the rest of the waters were moving so it's very relaxing. Really felt close to nature.

Nice place.
But the price is too expensive.
Better take a walk in the garden. That's for free.
Wildlife-filled nature reserve dotted with clear lakes, pine & birch forests & hills for hiking.
We visited Repovesi National Park starting from parking place in Saarojärvi. We hiked to Olhavanvuori, which is the most emblematic place of this National Park. Then we did the Korppinkierros. We really liked that there were many places with drinking water wells. There are many marked trails, so one can easily adjust the walking distance to the weather conditions and time. The landscape is splendid. Note, that there are some spots were there is no phone connection.

Average when compared to other Finnish national parks. Not suitable for day trekking as it has very large trails and very short ones. Better to take food and drinks with you as there are not much shops nearby.

Famous and nice national park. Different possibilities for hikes and some camping sites. The cable ferry is a nice idea to cross the lake and was a great finish for our hike there.

My first visit in a Finnish NP and ohhh boy what a great experience I had in Repovesi National Park. The hiking tracks are well maintained and marked, the campsites are well maintained and located in beautiful locations. The terrain is not to demanding, so you don't need to be in the best shape to master them. One downside is that there is a military base near by and you can hear the sounds of the shooting range in most of the parts of the national park, it didn't bother me or my girlfriend though, the training was held most of the time just in the afternoon and we were anyway distracted by the stunning nature of Repovesi NP.

There are several routes, lenght from few km to 26km long. Park is equped with dirnking water supply points. Many lodge places and rest places with tables and firepalces. Routes are marked not quite understenadble, but it is hard to get lost.

The main idea of my review: Finland taught me to love nature!
Arvostelun pääidea: Suomi opetti minua rakastamaan luontoa!
So I start my review with prehistory. Me and my wife visit Finland regulary. We love the spirit of small finnish cities - calm, quiet. Helsinki is one of our favorite cities with its great scandinavian design, bicycle routs. The big modern city as much as possible integrated in nature landscape. We love and adore how finnish live in harmony and in love with nature. We in Russia do not know how to handle with the nature that is given to us, do not respect it, do not love it. By the way we have the same natural landscape in north-west region as in Finland. I am not shy to say this because it is true!
I found info about Repovesi just looking where to go in Kouvola. Never wanted to go hiking, always thought it's not mine, but when I visited Repovesi website I thought - "I wanna go there, enjoying nature with comfort that's what I always need, and ".
We bought a tent, sleeping bags and other necessary things for hiking and drove to Repovesi. We traveled on bicycles by a bike routs leaving them from time time and walk. You won't be able to see all the attractions of this park just riding the bike, most routs are just for hiking. All the routs are marked and there are information bords in every campfire place! I also downloaded the pdf map of Repovesi on my phone, so we didn't have any problem with the route we went. The mix of wild nature and totaly usable navigation is fantastic!
Sleeping and spending time at campfire was absolutely comfortable! There are everything you need to spend time with comfort - campfire with grill, firewood, toilet, beautifull view in every camp-fire place! We slept in the tent absolute silince, taking into account the fact that there were about 6 more tents around us! For me as a resident of St. Petersburg to sleep in absolute silence is a curiosity and I liked it!
The summer morning in Repovesi is fantasic! Quet, fresh peaceful feeling! This will never leave me.
If you love to spend time in nature, hiking with comfort, if you respect nature you should visit it!
Paljon kiitoksia Repovesi! Palaamme ehdottomasti takaisin!
Very good open air aqua park!
Opened recently it is never overcrowded. It is equipped by modern showers and saunas. There are about one thousand lockers and this is more than enough.
There are 3 slopes, one slide for parallel slalom and one U-type slide down attraction. There is a pool and couple of water playgrounds. I would recommend to go here with friends and family any hot day!
I wish there were more hot sunny days in Finland.
Andrey Strunin — Google review
Icy cold water: even in hot day it's too cold. Lines to water slides are organized ineffectively. It's better to spend some more time and go to Helsinki.
Pavel — Google review
Clean and safe. Great customer service.
Two major issues for us were the cold water and the restaurant. The fact that the water in the pools is cold made us reluctant to get into the pools and slides. Wouldn’t recommend a visit if it’s not a hot summer day and no wind. The other thing was the restaurant. I hate it when you have to pay much more than normally and you get subpar portions. Please at least add some lettuce and tomatoes on the hamburgers.
Petri R — Google review
Slides and facilities are good. But the music pumped everywhere...
Holy Macaroni.
About 10 of the worst songs ever on repeat, over and over again. It's like being in some kind of sonic easy-listening hell. It makes you want to stay underwater. After a while I wondered if the metal fence around the place is to stop you from ecaping. But actually it was quite easy to leave.
Will Joby — Google review
Did not went inside since only one who wanted to swim was 3 yrs. Old daughter and rest of the group just watching the girl. Still would had need to buy "bracelet"(day pass) for everybody.
We were not allowed to go inside even for have peek what the park have to offer and what sections of he park our daughter could even use.
So paying blindly 5 day passes when just 3 years old using the services was a bit too much. Especially when there was not even pictures of the services/areas available.

We visited couple of days before Midsummer with 2 kids (7 and 10 year old). Everything is quite new and in good condition. There is enough personnel and the personnel was friendly. Also a cafe and snack bar available. Really great water slides for children but also for adults! Also very nice pools. I can recommend this.
R. R. — Google review
Too many people and too few entertainment. There is nothing for middle age kids only for so small or so big. On the top has five water slides but it's not enough! Under so hot sun people just are waiting and waiting without any cover or umbrella! By the way there's open space everywhere without any shadow and so few sun beds that has been always occupied!
Marina Erdynieva — Google review
Only outdoor pools, without any heating. Didn't try the slides, and the kidspool had a Shars head bucket, that filled with water and then emptied it by tipping and sprayed cold water eveywehere.
Don't the best waterpark, but the kids (6 and 4 yo) liked it
19th-century timber mill set in heritage village, with guided tours detailing working methods.
The museum was very interesting. The tour could have been more detailed, but for the price you really can't complain. Nice little crafts shops and café as well, though quite pricey.

Well preserved cardboard factory and surrounding buildings situated in beautiful natural setting. Outdoor expositions provide good insight into history of the place including its inhabitants, the cardboard factory and adjacent power plants; everything is well labeled and can be seen free of charge. The cardboard factory itself houses former machinery used for production - this is well preserved and super interesting to visit as the whole production process can be easily followed and understood. Visits are available on guided tours only, tours in English available at every half past with the last one being at 3.30 PM. The staff is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about both the factory and hikes in the surrounding countryside. Expect one of the cleanest toilets in Finland, don't expect free WiFi. Highly recommended to visit.

Very interesting place that tells the story about Finland being first totally an agricultural land in which most people were very poor, actually starving, and then becoming a welfare state via paper mill (and other) industry. And now this paper industry is almost gone, moved to developing countries. And the cost has been high: You are able to see old forests only in national parks, and all bigger rivers have different kind of dioxines in their bottom sediments etc. But that little paper mill didn't cause pollution :) It didn't use any chemicals, paper was made by grinding wet spruce trees mechanically. Now we live in a post-industrial society. So, we need e.g. tourist from abroad! In other words: welcome to everyone to see that nice little museum and get acquainted the Japan of the North, as we were once called :-)

Grounwood and board mill museum in Verla is absolutely worth visiting! You can explore the interiors of mill buildings only on guided tours, which start on the hour sharp. The guide explains each stage of technology of converting spruces into cardboards. You get an idea how the old machines were used. There is also a very informative, 10 min long film at the end of the guided tour. However, if you arrive outside the opening hours, the place is still worth visiting due to it's amazing location. There are many information boards outside the buildings that explain the history and technology of the mill. There is a beautifull garden with impressive villa. Cafeteria offers delicious buns. There are also shops that sell genuine handicrafts.

The must-visit, located near Kouvola. You will not find a museum here in the traditional sense, but it is very cool to walk around the historical territory of the plant and the trails around. There are several barbecue areas, you can rent a house and enjoy the local nature. In summer you can use free hanging tents

A lovely place for a family day trip.
100% buy tickets for the tour to see and hear about the mill. This includes (and is the only way to) see the inside spaces with all the original machinery and equipments!! Even a short film showing the mill in use, filmed during the last years of production.
There is also a lot to see outside; with the power damn, nature, and all the other buildings associated with production.
There is a good cafe and toilets.
The whole place is very well maintained.

Large park with forest paths & sculptures, plus spring-flowering azaleas & rhododendrons.
There is no nicer future gift to the next generations than someone planting a tree ... and this is exactly what the Mustila Arboretum is about as we are enjoying many such trees today that were planted slightly over a century ago.
One of the key features are the rhododendrons and the azaleas ... plan your visit between the 20th of May and the 20th June for the perfect flowering time.
Another key feature are the acer ... aim for the "ruska" time in early fall.
This is a perfect outing on a nice day!!!

That's just a great place for all kind of sport and recreational activities. In a walking distance you have all you need. Running indoors and outdoor, cross-country skiing, widr range of tracks for beginners and pros. Would wish that tracks are clean, I got bad scratches on my skis. Tried gym and circuit training area, running loop, swimming pool. Classes for students are good and modern. Conference rooms are good. Restaurants are good quality both cheaper and more pricy. Good pub for evening. Sleep in Fennada is of good quality. Room service need improvement, towels not changed, coffee mugs were dirty when arrived. But generally clean, has a drying locker.

Nice place to enjoy wintersports, although it is quite expensive overall. We had a nice cottage, fully equipped, sports facilities top notch. Rental prices for equipment are fair depending on the sports you choose. Curling for example is very expensive. Discovered new sports of Padel and used snow shoes for the first time. Everyone will find something they will enjoy here. Food on the premises is also of very high quality. Lunches in the cafe are very price worthy.

Sibeliustalo, also known as Sibelius Hall, is a remarkable concert and congress hall located in Lahti, Finland. Designed by renowned Finnish architects Hannu Tikka and Kimmo Lintula, this modern wooden structure is considered one of the most significant architectural works in the region. The hall boasts world-renowned acoustics and features a stunning timber-lined auditorium connected to an older building by a cathedral-like foyer with expansive glass walls and tall pillars resembling a Finnish forest.
Such a wonderful place to visit. Take a coffee and come up. Enjoy the lake view. Don't talk for a while just see from the window

Live orchestral concert sounded really good from the middle seats. The row number light of the opposing row shined annoyingly straight to the corner of my eye while seated however.
Ladies toilet line was very long (as expected) outside the cubicle area, but moved fast during break time. Main hall outside the concert halls is architecturally beautiful with wooden structures and LED stars in the ceiling.
Cloak room fee is 3€ even if you have a season ticket. Cheap bag tea and filter coffee are +5€ from a thermos, no refills technically allowed. Other goods are available from the counter.
Nukka Repo — Google review
The Sibeliustalo is a beautiful concert hall. It has also received several international awards for its truly unique acoustics. Again: the remarkably great hospitality of the Finns - when the two janitors gave us a spontaneous tour of the house, including the concert hall which actually was not open to the public. A wonderful experience, thanks to both of you if you happen to read this.

Sibelius Hall is a modern theater made with a glulam structure (glued wooden sheets) and splendid stained glass windows from which you can admire the little harbor. The concert hall has its strong point in acoustics and is named after composer Jean Sibelius.

This is the most magnificent concert hall in the world and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra are HIGHLY underrated. A beautiful setting on the docks at Lake Vesijarvi in Lahti City, Finland. The only other concert hall with perhaps as good a setting is the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbour Australia, but I prefer Sibelius Hall. This was the view from the steps outside the hall on the evening of Thursday 17th May 2018.
The Finnish Motorcycle Museum, with its recent Art Deco-style extension, is a magnificent showcase of over 100 old motorcycles and their fascinating stories. It also boasts the only Ace Cafe in the Nordic countries. Visitors praise the museum for its remarkable amount of motorcycle history and memorabilia, as well as its clean and tidy layout. The owner is described as a friendly and knowledgeable person who adds to the experience.
Visited 5 years ago, and decided to return again, an excellent collection of motorcycles in a beautifully laid out and thoughtful arrangement, to anyone with the slightest interest please go! In addition the food was excellent!

This is the best museum I've been to so far!
I was really impressed by the amount and variety of bikes it has.
Clean and tidy place.
The owner, Riku, is a very friendly and fun person!
lalready know that I will definitely visit this museum in the summer again!

The bikes are unique, but an entrance fee of 12 Euros makes it somewhat questionable. It's not out of this world and staff mimics American culture. Good music.

Visited this fabulous museum attached to Ace Cafe each time I have visited Lahti. A truly remarkable amount of motorcycle history and memorabilia. A definite visit whist in this part of Finland. The owner is a fountain of knowledge and very interesting man. Going to visit again within the next two weeks. A must see.

A lot of Jawa motor bikes which I even did not know.
dmitrijevs kristaps — Google review
Small, very short tour for the entrance price of 12€.
Almost 0 information about the bikes (year of the model and some technical information only). So many questions left unanswered. Alright setup visually, although for most bikes you can only see the front properly because they're so close together.
If you like to look at old bikes and already know everything about them, maybe give it a shot.

The Lahti Ski Museum is a fascinating destination dedicated to Nordic skiing, offering insights into Finnish skiing history and culture. The museum's exhibits showcase a variety of old ski equipment, tools, and modern ski sports. Visitors can enjoy interactive activities such as virtual ski jumping and biathlon shooting. The museum also features a modern design and provides an engaging experience for those interested in winter sports.
The simulator in the museum is really cool!

Very interesting place about the ski history of Finland. On of the most interesting part is activities such as virtual ski jumping and biathlon shooting (I really wanted to just to stay there :))
It would be great if audio guide will be added to the first floor as well. And the audio guide on the basement would be a bit shorter, because it's a bit difficult to consume such amount of information

Small musem that gets out everything of the different ski sports thats possible. Nice exhibitions through the history of cross-country, biathlon, ski-jumping or snowboarding and a ski-jumping simulator and laser pistol and biatlon riffle shooting also included. Worth to see when you are at the sports centre in Lahti!

Very Modern museum, giving some history about skiing in general and of cause the finish sports. And a bit of fun in the ski jump simulator and shooting Simulator, nice idee.
But from my point of view the entrance fee is a bit to high for the size of the museum, maybe for somebody who is more into Finnish winter sports legends it is more worth it.
Robin Kinslayer — Google review
Interesting, but don't expect too much if you are a fan of ski jumping or cross-country skiing. The exhibition is quite short, but worth a visit.
The ski jumping and biathlon simulation is great fun, but I guess not that super realistic.
During the Lahti Ski Games you have free entrance and longer opening times.

Kuusijärvi, located just north of Helsinki in Vantaa, is a popular year-round recreational center offering various activities for families and visitors. In the summer, it's known for its excellent swimming facilities and sandy beach, while in winter, it offers cross-country skiing opportunities. One of its highlights is the public smoke sauna called Savusauna, providing a unique experience for visitors to enjoy the sauna before cooling off with a swim in Lake Kuusijarvi.

○The smoke sauna is impressive from the preparation scene, and the high-temperature sauna with an electric stove was renovated in 2018.
○Lake bath in the forest
○ Forest bathing in the pleasant smell of smoke from the smoke sauna
This sauna is located in a national park, about 15 minutes by taxi from Vantaa Airport.
The two small smoke sauna rooms, which require time to prepare, are open from 1:00 p.m., the large sauna room is open from 2:00 p.m., and the electric stove sauna is available from 9:00 p.m.
Once you pass through the changing room, you will find large and small electric saunas for men and women, both of which allow you to self-sauna while looking out at the lake from the window.
The smoke sauna, where smoke rises from the building into the sky, is impressive from the preparation stage.
When you step inside, you will find a dark sauna room darkened by smoke. In the air where your eyes are slightly stinging, when you do the ro-ryu, there is a unique feeling of heat that gradually spreads over you for a long time.
The large smoke sauna doesn't feel too overwhelming to the eye, and the tall interior has a much better darkness and atmosphere. Entering with a single board adds to the authentic feel.
After the sauna, dive into the lake that stretches out in front of you.
Afterwards, bathing in the forest air in front of the lake, the atmosphere and the smell of smoke are irreplaceable.
There is also a cafe attached, making it an easy-to-use facility for adjusting your time before or after going to the airport.

I stay around 6kms away from this place. It’s just two months since I landed in Finland and this place has already attracted me so much.
I have been to this place twice so far. I take a walk on the side of the woods, take the 1.8 kms lake circle walk, feel the fresh chill breeze, journal for sometime.
I love the tranquility and calmness of this place. The nature at its best.
There is a proper swimming partition on one side of the lake and there are free saunas available. You can see lots of people taking bath even in end of autumn and beginning of winter.
When you visit here plan to spend some good amount of time. There is also a grill available outside on the other side, so if you wanna have some grills and enjoy the nature, its a perfect place.

Heureka is a fantastic interactive science museum with daily shows, 2 temporary exhibition areas, and a park. It also has a digital planetarium. The place is great for kids as well as adults and is easy to get to via the train.
Heureka is the wonderful place for kids under 12 years kids, I have 3 kids, they are 17, 15, 7, we have visited Heureka minimum at least over 10 times over last 5 years, and I always recommend to my friends who come to visit us or Helsinki with kids, I visited it last Sunday with my little boy after skiing in Vihti ski center at 15:00, even we were there just around 90 minutes, but I really enjoy the time with my lovely boy, he requested to visit Heureka after ski. Here comes some photos I took last Sunday.

Great museum and learning center or all ages with plenty of interactive experiences to learn from. I went to Heureka with my school many times and it has always never disappointed anyone. It was a really fun experience, the space themed exhibition was a bit disappointing as we expected a bit more interaction or super interesting things to see, but it was mainly text and screens. It's cool anyway if you are interested in space related things and you're not with toodlers or babies. The rest is super cool. The kids can play and learn at the same time. The restaurant has good options and I'm ready for my next visit.

Many war era old planes on display in a relatively small area. The best part of the small flight simulator which you can try longer if there is no line. The larger flight simulator requires booking a week ahead, obviously hard to do for tourist. There is also a small café and some mid size lockers. Not recommended for someone who is not interested in aviation.

The museum is nicely located a quick walk from the Aviapolis train station. They do have a wide assortment of Finnish Aircraft, especially gliders. While the Finnish Air Force museum does have a wider variety of military aircraft from different international manufacturers, this one focuses more on the civil aviation aspect of things. The signs here were for the most part in both Finnish and English.
It is worth noting that when visiting this place in winter, a jacket is a must, as none of the hangars are heated.

Probably the weirdest mall in Finland. The mall itself is hard to navigate with its strange layout and multiple levels that only cover part of the mall each. To top it off, they've limited the parking to 2-4 hours. This is as if to say, buy quickly and get out. Don't eat here, and for God's sake do NOT hang around and enjoy your visit!
I wouldn't put up a restaurant here. Although the are a few optimists that do try to make it. And ofcourse you'll find the two major food chains of Finland here, like anyplace Finland.

Very nice attraction for train and history enthusiasts. The museum includes tens of trains and engines, the most interesting ones are the restored Russian Imperial cabins. There is a cafe outside in the beautiful yard and a little museum shop inside. Near the cafe there is a little park train making a tour around the yard (check operating times, they are close earlier than the museum). Park train is free for people with museum tickets, others pay 1€. Most of the exhibition can be seen inside so that bad weather does not matter.

Welcome to the 80s, there is an accident waiting to happen.
Don't get me wrong, kids (6&9yrs) had time of their lives during our visit. That's the good news. Problem is that the tickets for a family of four cost 124€. What did we get for the price: dirty toilets, unhappy employees, broken rides, rundown park area and a water park that was just in disgusting shape. We arrived during the first opening hour and toilets were not cleaned, great way to start the day. We didn't get a single hello from the staff. When we thanked them, we got back grunts.
If the measurement is that kids have fun, great, that was achieved. With 124€ I expect more. Where is the money from the tickets put into? Not in maintenance, employees or cleaning. We spend 0€ to anything else during our visit just because everything was over priced so badly. Margins for basic ice cream must be around 85%. The whole place is a total rip off. My last visit was in the early 90s and I have to say that nostalgia was real, nothing had changed and the park was in way worse condition that I remembered.
Water park side was just as run down. Black mold on the walls. Dead bugs, food and feathers from local wild birds in the water yet all staff were just on "life guard duty". Why not clean the pools while watching the pools? Why everything was covered in brown stains?
There were not too many people and I understand why. You can't be asking this kind of price and keep the park in such state. This is greed in it's purest form. One star because the kids had fun, one star because there was no queues and parking was free.
Tapio K. — Google review
Quite dated activity park for kids; has bit of a russian feel to it. Nice bang for the buck however. Really cold water in pools even on a hot day. Hard to get to without a car: from Riihimäki train station take a bus to Tervakoski and walk 1km. They go every 2-4 hours or so and only during weekdays. Very incompetent summer staff when we visited.

Went with a 4 year old and a 14 year old. We were there for opening at 10:00 and kept active until almost 19:00. Plenty to do. It was pretty quiet but well staffed. Didn't have to wait at all for anything. Plenty of sitting space while waiting for kids on every ride. Water park was clean and safe, with good slides for kids of all ages.
We had a great day.
Carl Rthompson — Google review
It was a trip down the memory lane for me. Seeing the place after tens of years with my own kids was awesome. It is good since there are a lot of activities that kids can actually do.
Juho Jutila — Google review
A place to avoid!!
This park does not live up to today's safety standards. It's actually shocking that this park has a license to operate. Many of the activities were closed or unstaffed. The playgrounds are rather dangerous for children as often the wood is broken or vital parts are missing. Everything looks very old and not taken care of.
Even though it is nice to see that this park employs young people, the staff needs training in customer service and safety. There was no hello or a friendly smile. Once the button to operate a machine was pressed, the staff would stare at their mobile phones. There was an incident at the electric car race course, where a child turned the car into the wrong direction and drove head-on towards the other child (only two of those cars were in operation). The other child was able to avoid the crash
However, the staff member was standing with his back to the race course, chatting with friends.
The food is of low quality and virtually no options for vegetarians or vegans. At 4:30 pm most of the ice-cream kiosks were closed. Advertised coffee specialities couldn't be properly prepared because of lack of ingredients.
Each person needs to pay 31 € even though most of the "attractions" are for children. And many things are simply not useable.
C M — Google review
It’s okay. Very old and dated. But my only problem is the price tag. If you want to charge that much your gonna need to update your rides and experiences. One example all the trampolines springs we’re so worn on that my 4 year old could bounce on them.
蓝天佑Chris — Google review
Very good place to spend a hot day with kids. Rides become lame after 1-2 times, but the water park doesn’t disappoint. The bad: food is crappy and expensive.

The Artillery, Engineer and Signals Museum of Finland, situated in the heart of Hameenlinna, offers a captivating journey through the nation's military history from medieval times to the present day. It is a top-rated attraction showcasing the role of artillery in Finnish military heritage with an extensive collection of weapons, vehicles, and equipment dating back to the 16th century. The museum spans multiple buildings and outdoor yards for heavy artillery displays.
Very interesting, even for someone who isn't really interested in military matters. The history of Finland was described wonderfully. However, the translations into English seemed to stop on the second floor! Very friendly lady at reception.
Estelle Reynolds — Google review
Spread between buildings on multiple floors and outside yards for heavy artillery.
Buying a combo ticket with castle and Prison museum will cost you 19 Eur, and needs to be purchased at the castle. If buying a separate Artillery museum, it costs 10Eur Adult price.
Knowing Finnish History and its wars will help you enjoy the museum. If you lack that knowledge and are not familiar with Ammunition in general it will be just a stroll.
Prasanna Kumar — Google review
I'm not usually interested in military, but taking time to explore this museum opened my eyes to the fact that war exists and artillery was used in those battles. The machines used were fascinating to look at up close and to touch some of the old cannons and equipment made me feel like I was transported back in time to an Era when these war machines, equipment, and artillery were used. It was a sobering experience.

Nice place inside and outside.
Can be interesting for that who knows or is interested in story of swastika in Finland - it used since 1920 in Suomi (Army, Navy, Air Force) and is not "German idea". This is the real history of Finland and just respect it!

This is an excellent museum. I recommend anyone who has an interest in Finnish military history to visit here. It covers the complete spectrum on Finnish history with well ordered and thorough displays. I especially like the display of Finnish creativity in tackling seemingly unsolvable issues.

If you enjoy beautiful lake views, old cars, bikes, bicycles, scale models and many other vehicle-related antiquities, this is a must see. The site has a lovely café as well for something to eat and drink after or before the museum visit. A few meters down the road you will find a viewing tower which offers stunning views.

Nice place to visit during a sunny summer day! Museum is free entry. Various old cars, e.g. Grandma Duck's electric car. Nice cafeteria with fresh "munkki" (doughnut). Also food options. I have visited many times during the years and I'll still visit.

A great collection of old automobiles and also model cars. Free entry!
In the museum there is a gift shop to buy model cars and souvenirs. In the same building there is a cafe, that sells hot food, pastries, and ice cream and has a great outdoor terrace to enjoy an amazing view over the lake. There is also a viewing tower next to the museum for a better view over the beautiful landscape. Beautiful place to make a stop!

Here where l have break during the long distance cycling training, today luckily munki was bigger 😁🙌 mutta delicious 😋
A lovely idyllic place, two hours there felt like a short time. Could spend there more, walking in the garden and having a picnic (they have many tables and benches outside).
The sculpturer's atelier with own organ and observatory was impressive.
The cakes in the cafe were delicious, especially britakakku.
Separate thanks for making leaflets in Ukrainian language!

We stopped here on the route from Hämeenlinna to Tampere, but were not sure if we should visit the museum or not. First thing a lady was waiting upstairs trying to get us to buy tickets straight away.
We went to the cafe first to buy some ice creams for the kids that we had promised, the ice creams were reasonably priced, but we had to go outside to the terrace because the air inside was really bad and it was raining outside.
For a short while we stood by the door making sure we don’t disturb any other customers allowing the kids to eat their ice creams. The lady who tried to make us buy the tickets was clearly annoyed we hadn’t bought any at that stage, and first complained to the children that they hadn’t put their ice cream paper in the rubbish bin, then complained that we were obstructing the handrail on the completely empty stairs. She did all this in the rudest possible way.
Even though we were honestly planning to pay a visit to the museum and had even checked the prices beforehand, it was an easy decision not to buy the ticket at this stage. We rather went to sit on a boat for one hour instead, waiting for it to leave.
The museum might have been great, but we had no way to see it, because part of our group refused to buy the tickets at this stage. Excellent job repelling paying customers.

Tampere Cathedral is an impressive, granite-built church with three steeples and red-tiled roofs that was completed in 1907. It is considered a prime example of National Romantic art-nouveau architecture.

Museum Centre Vapriikki is a contemporary exhibition space located within the renovated Tampella textile mill. The museum features an array of changing exhibitions that cover diverse subjects such as bicycles, Buddhism, and local history. Additionally, it houses permanent displays including Tamperes history, mineral and natural history museums. Visitors can also explore a small yet interesting ice-hockey museum exhibiting memorabilia of players and teams from Finland's renowned sporting passion.
It is amazing. The best place to spend time with your children.

This is a huge, very diverse museum center. I love the mineral exhibition and the morning paper one. Very enjoyable of multiple concepts.
The fly in the ointment is that it feels like every exhibition has done just on the surface. And several collections are complete without English, which is unfriendly to only English-speakers.
Several exhibitions have an expiration date: The morning paper exhibition on the 2nd floor is until 2022.8.28; The coffee stamp exhibition is until 2022.4.10.
If someone’s particularly interested in these exhibitions, plz come before the date.

Wow! This place is huge and they have so many museums. We really liked Post museum, Game museum and Stone museum. One thing was not good – they didn't have satisfying vegan options for lunch. We needed to go to another place to eat although other visitors could eat at this building. This was quite disappointing :(

Very interesting museum complex. You can visit all the museums with the same ticket (15/7€).
Some lockable lockers that free to use.
Currently there is a fairytale-inhibition, which is suitable for children but also interesting enough for adults. Texts are in Finnish and English. You can read about old tales and try to fight the dragon.
In the game museum you can play different games for free (~100 games)!
There is also exhibition on local rock music and a post museum.

If you want to go to the museum, which is also a family experience, and that the children don't want to come home, you've come to the right place!!! 🤩🤩
A charmingly and super fun museum complex for children and adults alike. The complex is beautifully planned and designed with a lot of creativity, creating endless fun, exciting and and funny interactive experiences.
The legend museum is fascinating, and the games museum is fascinating and evokes nostalgia. One of the greatest fun you can play in old games, and let the children understand what it was like when mom and dad were kids... (really fun!!!😄🙃😜)
There is a restaurant with delicious food at good prices specially for children.

Its a great museum and very cheap, feels like a bargain. You need a lot of time to go around it, at least 3 hours is recommended to fully see all of it. Has a restaurant and nice staff. Its really interesting and very big. Best museum in Tampere and covers everything from video games to biology and even stuff like geology.

utterly brilliant museum complex. Such diverse exhibits, and every mini-museum is so well curated. The mineral museum was a particular highlight, and the Postal museum an unexpected gem. There are a few things broken - like some of the games, and some of the Finlayson English audio, but other than that it's an incredible day out! you definitely need a around 30min-1 hour per exhibit, so can happily spend an entire day there. The café is nice, selling a variety of hot and cold food, with a huge number of tables (bringing own lunch not permitted - as we found out!).
Liz Marsden — Google review
Very nice museum. Liked the Fairy Tales Exhibition but the Game and Posti part is also worth a visit!

We visited hoping to see the mineral exhibition, and this is what we saw. The whole section was under renovation but there was no mention at the ticket counter, or from the staff..
This could have been a great place to spend the day with family, if the staff was responsible and informed the guests about the ongoing renovation beforehand.

Very interesting museum. It has nice exhibitions and galleries. A lot of information about the Finnish civil war.
It also has a video game exhibit and it was very interesting to play retro games on the original hardware.
The nature galleries and dioramas are also quite interesting.
If you are a hockey fan the Hockey Hall also seemed interesting.

One of the best museum experiences I've ever had. There is so much to see. The Finnish museum of games, which is such an amazing trip down memory lane. Nostalgia vibes for sure! The Finnish hockey wall of fame, postal museum, Tampere museum of natural history and so much more. Not to mention there are on going and fairly frequently changing exhibitions happening, so always make sure to check what's new when you're thinking about going. This complex also includes a café, a lunch restaurant and naturally a gift shop. A lot of sound, imagery, visuals, lights, moving images and personal involvement is included in the art. Makes the experience even more worth it every time and only with an 15€ fee I might add. Cheaper for children and retirees. Recommended!

Came here twice already, (will likely visit again too!) the exhibits are fantastic! Its easy for a museum to just give a surface-level explanation, but all the museums here have so much love and care put into them, ESPECIALLY the game museum! Can't comment on the restaurant there as I haven't been to that yet. A Wonderful experience which can satisfy those of all ages!

Särkänniemi, a family amusement park in Tampere, Finland, boasts an array of rollercoaster rides and indoor attractions such as an aquarium and planetarium. A one-day pass grants access to dozens of thrilling rides including the Tornado roller coaster and High Voltage. The complex also features an observation tower, art gallery, farm zoo, and Angry Birds area for younger children.
A magnificent tower located at a strategic point, with a great view of the city. There is a cozy restaurant at the topmost floor to give yourself or your partner a romantic and wonderful treat. There is an amusement park that may meet the needs of families and solo travelers. Additionally, you may decide to go on a boat cruise 🚢.

Family friendly, not a complete concrete desert, all signs in Finnish, everyone speaks English, visit the petting zoo.
As with many Scandinavian amusementparks the rides seem to have been placed on a giant concrete slab with any decorations being an after-thought. Here they have at least done a fair job at improving the looks and making it more family friendly. There is a giant monkey frame in the kids area that is a huge relief for parents of kids that have spent to much time sitting in rides and standing in line.
One weird thing is that allmost all written information is only available in Finnish, but every single park attendant I asked spoke perfect English, and a few spoke Swedish (to my son's delight), so why are most price lists, signs and menues only in Finnish?
There is also a delightful little "petting zoo"/living museeum/story world/playground just to the side of the main amusementpark. It is well worth a visit for both young and old, but obviously an extra delight for us parents.

Nice park with quite thrilling coasters. If you are a tourist and not able to read Finnish, you will be guessing all the time as nothing - and I mean really nothing - is written in English or any other language.
When we visited in mid July there were quite long queues, so waiting time was depending on the coaster about 30 to 45 minutes. Surprisingly the longest queues were in front of food infrastructure.
Bring relaxed mood and enough time, then the visit will pay off!

Amazing theme park! The drop tower is turning so you will see in many directions and also it’s very INTENSE! 🎢🎡 I did all the extreme rides and I was soooo happy. Definitely worth paying 50 € for unlimited rides instead of 10 for each. Also go to the main tower with great view of the park itself, the city and lakes. From the top you will see how many trees they have here!! 🌲 🌲
Top attraction in Tampere for me :)

Many fun rides and places to eat and have coffee. The park is a smoke free zone.
Awesome view from the tower, but I wouldn't recommend to eat there as it is very expensive and the food not so special.

I am a fan of lunaparks and this is really particular. There are not only rides, but many attractions such as an aquarium, a planetarium and a tower (observatory). If you want to do the rides it is better to buy a day ticket because they cost a lot (10 euros each).
Located in the Pyynikki district of Tampere, the Pyynikki Coffee Shop & Observation Tower is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The small cafe, nestled in the old observation tower, is renowned for its freshly baked and delicious doughnuts that are a hit on social media. Visitors can also enjoy locally roasted coffee from Tampereen Paahtimo while taking in the stunning panoramic views from the 26-meter lookout tower atop Pyynikki hill.
Place is historical and so warm. Observation tower visiting is 2 euros. Elevator usage is eligible. Prices are not expensive, as I remember coffee was 3 euros around. And there is a "munkki" in the place, it's dessert. That's was pretty good. You need to visit this place if you come to Tampere!

Nice walk through the woods to reach this Tampere gem.
Great views of Tampere, the lakes, and the forests that spread into the distance.
Only 2 Euros to go up the tower by lift or walk. At the top, take the ladder out to the outside observation area.
Once finished, enjoy a fresh coffee and cake/doughnut in the little cafe.

It's a tiny place a little outside of Tampere city center, but definitely worth visiting. The donuts are famous and rightfully so called the best. They are bouncy and the cardamom gives it that warmth. Don't be scared of the sugar on top, it's not too sweet. I think everyone should make a little detour from Tampere to eat these

My friend from Tampere introduced me to this place. I've visited Tampere many times before, but this was my first opportunity to come here and try these renowned donuts. I truly feel like coming here was the right decision. The donuts are incredibly delicious, not overly sweet and delightfully soft. Inside the café, the enticing aroma of freshly baked donuts fills the air. The small, cozy ambiance is delightful. They offer seating both indoors and outdoors, surrounded by a beautiful environment that blends seamlessly with nature and fresh air. The best part is arriving here on a chilly day, taking in the panoramic view of Tampere city from above, enjoying a piece of donut, and sipping a cup of aromatic coffee or hot chocolate. Indulging in donuts and tea here makes me feel like life slows down, and I'm harmonizing with the beautiful nature of Tampere. I genuinely adore this place and am certain I'll return on my next visit to Tampere.
P.s: I devoured the entire donut right after snapping this first photo. Regrettably, I ate it all without capturing a single picture of this incredibly delicious donut.

Without a doubt, this shop is a good one to spend your time eating sweets Munkki! The flavor is different from other Munkki that existed in Tampere as my reference.
