How long is the drive from Sigulda to Tartu?
The direct drive from Sigulda to Tartu is 124 mi (199 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 9 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Sigulda to Tartu, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Gaisa trošu ceļš and Siguldas novada Tūrisma informācijas centrs, or the ever-popular Sigulda bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track.
The top stops along the way from Sigulda to Tartu (with short detours) are Turaida Castle, Cēsis Castle, and Castle Of The Livonian Order In Sigulda. Other popular stops include Gutman's Cave, Valmiermuižas alus darītava, and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cesis | Cēsu Svētā Jāņa baznīca /.
The Sigulda bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track is a thrilling attraction in Latvia. This 1.2 km track features 16 turns and is used by Olympians for training. Visitors can experience the excitement of descending the track on a regular bobsleigh during winter or on a wheeled bobsleigh in summer. The adrenaline rush from reaching speeds of up to 65mph/105kmh makes it an unforgettable experience for adventure seekers.
Quick drive through on both occasions but you drop a star for forgetting to put the tomato ketchup in. I resent paying for this with chicken nuggets in Latvia when you should get at last 1 for free like in the UK and like Hesburger. If I pay for something remember to give this!
Daniel C — Google review
The ride itself is quite expensive and shortnand the kids said that not worth the money. But we go to to see some great sights as we were allowed to walk up to the tower along a bobsleigh track that wasn't used during the summer. The track was really impressive from the inside and views impressive bothered from the track and the tower.
Just a little suggestion - try to put together a small exhibition. Even one or two rooms would cover it to give some general info about the place and the sport itself. Anything is better than just offering the ride and views only.
Janne Aule — Google review
This was a bit of a weird place. The views of the surrounding countryside from the top are astounding, but the track itself isn't really interesting att all (unless you are practicing the sport I suppose). So if you see this as a viewing platform it's pretty neat.
Carl Niclas — Google review
The skeleton bob was a great experience! Would absolutely come again
Ryan Abela — Google review
Did the “soft” bobsledding and was not disappointed. Went faster than I thought, and would definitely recommend!
Danielle Fielding — Google review
Very cool attraction during the summertime as you can walk from the top of the track.
Andero Visnapuu — Google review
I was there for competition and the track was great for sliding.
David Christopher — Google review
Very interesting place with great views and in the same time is very attractive place for extreme lovers. The cost of one Bob drive is 10€/7€. The Bob is for 4 people. The first one is a driver+3 lovers of extreme. After finishing the car lifts back to the starting point. You can also go to the place (6nd floor) of start of the real sportsmen. The very important thing is CASH ONLY. This may be inconvenient.
Olga Ponamareva — Google review
3 euro to walk on the track. No riding. Takes awhile to complete the circuit. Not missing anything if you skip here altogether
Andrew mirsky — Google review
We came Latvia specifically to do the bobsleigh. This was an amazing experience. Nothing can prepare you for the first corner. We reached speeds of 65mph/105kmh and really enjoyed it. An extreme adrenaline rush. Would definitely recommend for the adventurous. It's located approx 60 mins car ride from central Riga.
Jason Hoyle — Google review
was nice to see the track and walk a bit
Eglė Sved — Google review
A fantastic experience, and a great day out of Riga not only for an activity such as bob-sleighing but also seeing a charming Latvian town.
Aivis — Google review
Great stop on the way to Tallin! Amazing views. Very cool to explore and walk down the track, one of the only places in the world you can do that. Hopefully can try it out in the winter some time!
Dan — Google review
We came to look around the track and were able to walk down to the finish line and watch the international teams doing training. The lady in reception was very nice and friendly and gave us tips on where to go to get the best views.
Zane Roga — Google review
Recommend for sleds and extrem lovers. Great for winter and summer fun. You will never forget this feeling when you get down the track. Wonderful and scary!

There might be a bit too many people in the funicular at once, but still, it's worth visiting at least once. There are activities for those who enjoy extreme
Alenas Šalkauskas — Google review
We were in the area so stopped by. Easy to get tickets, not much of a line. It was a relaxing ride over the Gauja River. There isn't a lot to do in the other side, but we still enjoyed the peaceful setting. Had to wait a bit for the cable car to return.
Jana L — Google review
If you want to reach other side, better call a taxi. Trust me, this 'entertainment' is totallly rubbish and pretty expensive considering all pros and cons.
Pros:
1. you will see a a bunch of tree tops and a river (and a fake bear on a tree)...
Cons:
1. as mentioned before - expensive. To get to other side you will have to pay 7€, however you will have to buy a ticket back, because it's far away from your car, so it will be 12€ for an adult and 8 for a kid (both ways)
2. Cable car is outdated: small and packed with +20 people, short windows (hard to appreciate views if you are tall), smell is awful during summer because of customers hygiene, very hot inside.
3. If you want to get back, you will be bound to wait in other line, which is constantly growing, because people from one side are flowing to other side and almost immediately going back.
So my suggestion is to go somewhere else to spend your 12 €.
Rytis Šamelis — Google review
Cable wagon is a rip off and a scam, notice how tiny it says one way + the cashier will never tell you any details unless you ask. Wasted 60 euro for up and down for two people.
Alex De Silva — Google review
So great! Must see and visit. Nice ride and amazing view.
Petri Vainionpää — Google review
Nice ride with a beautiful view. A little to expensive I think.

This is the best and coolest way to get from one side to the other side. The ride is not that expensive. I recommend this!

Really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Helped us plan our flying visit and allowed us to leave our luggage there for the day. Good recommendations and we ended up having a great day. Recommend the castle, using the bolt scooters and the abandoned Soviet bunker near the castle

The young woman working at the desk was very kind and helpful! She called the nearby amber craftsman on our behalf to schedule our visit, and we were there only 10 minutes later. Thank you!

Located in the train station, a beautiful small building. They have lots and lots of brochures and provide information not only about Sigulda but the whole region. Really kind people.
Josedo Hernandez — Google review
Really friendly staff members. Lots of maps and information about the local area.
They are able to provide luggage storage during their business hours for free. This was very practical and convenient for my final day here.
Just to the left of the train station when you exit.
Lachlan Pedersen — Google review
Always super helpful and friendly staff. You can leave your backpacks there until end of day (usually 7pm) - I regularly leave my bag here for half a day when coming to Sigulda by train for multi-hour long runs.
Edgars Lapins — Google review
This is really an enormous thank you note to the Information Centre!
We arrived from the train and had too much to carry to our lovely tent site (Glempings Klaukus) and were too early, and the folks in the information centre helped us so much -- to take our luggage for the day, help us plan our very successful day in Sigulda, then let the person at Glempings know our plan, and call them for us. So helpful and thank you very much for making our time in Latvia so special and enjoyable!

Compact cave in sandstone rock displaying inscriptions dating from the 17th century.
I have always liked the Gutman cave. The carvings in the sandstone that date back to the 17th century give it the historical charm. The running water sound and the songs of the birds bring peace to your mind and soul.
Linda Bogdane — Google review
While this was a worthy walk, we expected a bit more than the 10 minute hike and small cave. We are glad we went...but watch out for the icy stairs in the winter!
Jeff Suderman — Google review
Fascinating sandstone engravings fill up the entire grotto, some of the eldest dating back to 16th century! Branded as the largest in Europe by the description but I didn’t fact check.

Great day out. Small cave but with a beautiful story tale to be told.

2.5euro to park. It’s not a cave. More like a “wall”. Skip this place as others have mentioned.
Ohayō Phil — Google review
Be careful when using stairs, they are slippery. There's not much to do in winter time. Another location related with Rose of Turiada.
Esen Burak OR — Google review
The biggest cave in the Baltic states. Unfortunately, not deep enough to go inside and venture. Take a look at the signs engraved into the rock. Some date back to early 19th century. It’s easily accessible from the side of the cable car.
Mateusz Adamkiewicz — Google review
Wasn't much of a cave, more like a hole in the cliff. Beautiful park around it though with many trail hiking opportunities. It was a good spot to stretch our legs but I wouldn't go off my way to go there.
Jana L — Google review
Wonderful cave to visit if you are in the area. It is quite big and has a spring inside.
A lot of engravings in the walls, some dating a long time ago.
There is a legend about the cave, but I wasn't able to locate any information about it next to it, so look it up before visiting.
Everything around the cave is clean and well maintained.
Pity, that several people are not able to read signs "do not climb" and with their climbing keep destroying fragile sand stone.
Since there are no guards or cameras, they keep doing it...
Egita Gielen — Google review
A calm and nice place to come to relax, look at the writings on the cave's walls and enjoy the scenery. Only problem is, if you're travelling by public transport, the nearby bus stop's bus is quite unpredictable

The Castle of the Livonian Order in Sigulda is a 13th-century castle with restored walls, offering gate and tower climbs as well as guided tours. Built by Bishop Albert of Riga, it suffered heavy damage during the 16th-century Livonian War. The stone ruins have been fitted with stairs and wooden walkways, providing a lookout point with stunning views of the surrounding river valley.
We had a very nice surprise exploring this ruin. Not only are there some great old buildings to walk through, but the views of the valley are exceptional!
Jeff Suderman — Google review
A very peaceful feeling here. Quiet but you can imagine defending the castle during this period. A superior location for defences! The surrounding forests and deep valleys stunning!
Paul McIlroy — Google review
The place can be visited even outside the specified hours - the tower requires a ticket. There are some panels and the view from a platform towards Turaida castle is great.
Cristi — Google review
Nice views around the castle to the Gauja national park. Some architectural decisions (growing trees around the boundaries of the castle) makes it possible to feel the size of the castle. Entrance price is 2e for adults, 1e for a discounted ticket (students, etc.) and 5e for a family ticket.
Laurynas Giriunas — Google review
Beautiful place to take a stroll. There isn't much left from the old castle, mostly ruins consisting in one wall with adjacent rooms. Still interesting if you got an hour or two to spend walking around, nice Grounds, couple souvenir shops.

42ha museum park about Latvian history & culture, with sculpture park, folk song events & a castle.
Very beautiful place, loved meticulously maintained grounds and walkways. Make sure you climb the tower itself for best views, no elevators there so be ready for a little work out. Definitely recommend stopping here.

Lovely partly ruined castle which is an impressive presence on the hill. We visited in February when some of the buildings were closed, but loved the views. There is a car park over the road, and a few mins drive away a good pizza place. I'm sure in summer you could spend hours there as there are several walks around the countryside.
Tracy Simpson — Google review
The castle is located in the very beautiful place, on top of the hill. I very recommend to climb into the tower. The view from there is breathtaking. It is 100m up from the river Gauja.
Marius Motiekaitis — Google review
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of historical information there was around this place, multiple exhibits in different buildings and an overall large area with many archaeological founds!
Not to mention the great view from the top of the tower :))
There were probably more, but I got to visit three exhibitions within the same ticket, and it was quite fascinating to see the trinkets, coins, tools, weapons and other things that had been excavated from the 11-13th century!
Strongly recommend visiting if you are in Riga for more than two days :))

Very pretty place and the national park around as well, I think the best time is summer, there are plenty places to make your own picnic. There is nice view from Tower in the castles, and also be prepared for so many stairs in national park.

Elitsa Tsankova — Google review
One of the most beautiful castles I saw an amazing view from the top. It had a staircase which only had one way to either go up or come down so that was pretty interesting. I was glad they were not many people when we were there
Ajay Tejwani — Google review
Beautiful partially restored castle seated on a wooded river valley. I think it is the best of the 3 castle ruins of Siguldas.
There are museum exhibitions in the restored sections of the castle. The highlight is the large tower that you can climb to the top and get a great view of the Latvian landscape.
Garrett Fagnou — Google review
It was a nice experience to get to the top of the watch tower and observe the beautiful surroundings. Other buildings are okayish, not very immersive exhibitions.
The park and the area are quite pleasant to stroll around.
Ticket price is 2 EUR. Unfortunately many buildings were closed, probably to low season

You go there for the castle and you find much more fun at this complex. The castle has great towers and interesting exhibitions. The other buildings around the estate contain other exhibitions.

Sharon Perry — Google review
Very interesting and full of history. Ticket costs 6 euros, you can pay for the parking at the ticket office. And take at least half a day to see all the places, because that place is large. Theres is a lot of sights to see and walking up and down the stairs all day grows your leg muscles a bunch. I think its best to visit during the summer months, more things to see and you can also enjoy the beautiful, big garden.

Went on wintery day. Parking is a bit tricky - need to park on other side of the road and pay. Plus not to park on bus parking. Nice view, interesting to walk and read about history. Recommended.

Turaida Castle is a recently reconstructed medieval castle in Turaida, in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, on the opposite bank of the Gauja River from Sigulda.
It's an amazing experience visiting the castle in autumn. With changing colors, falling leaves, slight cold air, and the breathtaking view from the top of the castle take you to another level. Must visit spot in Latvia 🇱🇻

(Translated by Google) In the summer of 2020 I saw part of the exhibition in Sigulda, but now, as the guide said, all the exhibits have been transported to Limbazi. The heaviest metal to process is silver, because it has the highest thermal conductivity. Therefore, in large jewelry, some parts may overheat.
The central composition is the temple of all religions (32 kg of silver) and the year of work.
The master has 11 students.
Forging and forging are the methods by which the craftsman processes his products; no foundry
Viennese enamel on silver is the most complex technique for working with silver (leaves in a wreath are made using this technique).

Hiking, boating, skiing & cycling in a picturesque setting with caves & historic structures.
A very nice place to visit. It has a diverse list if places to visit: castles, valleys, rivers, caves, bridges, etc. I have visited all regions in Lithuania and I didn't expect such nice scenaries anywhere in Baltic countries. From the castle tower you can see only trees around for multiple kilometers. There is an interesting industrial village as well (Ligatne). I recommend to visit this national park.

Fresh air and picturesque nature! Gauja is amazing!
Elena — Google review
Nature surrounded by pine trees and with the nice River Gauja running through it.
One takes the train from Riga Central Station to Cēsis, which itself is very charming with the old ruins there set in a lovely setting. There are also many buses per day, more than trains. Maybe train up and bus back, or vice versa.
I did a quick 3hr walk from the town to the river, but tracks are very poorly marked. I ended up walking along an old overgrown logging or access trail, coming out accidentally onto the back of someone's property. The boundary to this property was, on one side, marked by a fence with evil looking signs saying , 'entry forbidden', in Latvian and Russian. The meaning was rather clear in any event. Was happy to leave that particular spot.
I think if one takes a bit more time and finds the best trail, it's nice to do, but nothing special.

Superinteresting place! Rebuilt 9-10th centuries little viking village. Visited it during Museum Night and therefore we expierienced the greatest atmosphere! Recommend to everyone!
Laine Lapina — Google review
A fantastic place to kindle your imagination about life in ancient times. The centrepiece of the site is a reconstructed settlement on an island in the middle of a lake. It will transfer you back to the 9-10 centuries AD and immerse you in the atmosphere of an ancient Latgalian community in the north-eastern Europe where pre-Christian cultures were still thriving at the time. The Araiši settlement is certainly on par with Scottish crannogs and the pile dwelling site on Lake Konstanz in Germany, but is far less know and is a true archaeological gem off the beaten track
The nearby romantic ruins of a mediaeval castle tell the story of a very different epoch, and offer a nice place for a picnic with a view of the lake settlement.
Finally, there is a path to much more ancient days, with reconstructed Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age dwellings. Some of the path is on a low-lying ground, mind, so putting on your wellies might be a good idea in a wetter season.

Tourist trap, nowhere said it was paid in English. We were around 20 people and we stopped in a muddy car park to rest, and people went for a walk. A the end they charged us 5£ per person. Nobody chased us. But the site is pretty, but if we had a choice we wouldn't pay. They said it had qr codes, well, I don't read qr codes and I never thought it was mandatory in this place.

Rožu laukums, also known as the Rose Square, is a public urban space situated in the heart of Riga, Latvia. This well-known area serves as a central meeting point for locals and tourists alike. The square features an abundance of beautiful flowering plants, including various species of roses, which give it its name. Additionally, it boasts a diverse range of architectural styles that reflect the city's rich history and cultural heritage.
The Cēsis Castle is a romantic medieval architecture fortress consisting of two parts; the old Wenden castle, built by Livonian knights in 1214, and an 18th-century manor house that was once home to the German counts von Sievers. The former is characterized by sorrowful dark-stone towers that were destroyed in 1577 by Russian tsar Ivan the Terrible after its defenders committed suicide with gunpowder.
Once the mightiest fortress of Livonia, this castle in Cēsis is a great place to visit. You can climb up to the roof to enjoy the view of the town. Even though the castle is quite destroyed you can enter some of the inner chambers and explore the remains. Outside the castle there is an exhibition in the open air where you can see some tools, weapons and handcrafts. Overall it leaves an impressive image of a Teutonic Order times.

Great place, has loads to offer, a lot of information but only in English and Latvian. Have outside space with activities and people dressed in traditional clothing and doing asigned location tasks, like leather work, wood work, gardening, etc. Inside is great interaction where you can sit down for wonderful video of time starting from 1213 - 2019 years. There is also museum part with paintings. Full entrance price is 10 euro, garden and castle bit is 6 euro and museum is 4 euro on it's own. Would take about 3h to fully enjoy this place.

Just go!!!!
This castle is located in the most charming village of Cesis.
Everything is postcard beautiful!
Village and Castle are an extremely easy 4-5 min walk from the train station.
The Castle itself is a marvel and you see so much! They give you an antique lantern on arrival and off you go through spiral staircases to explore!
Parts of the grounds are also interactive with a working mid evil garden.
They have a wonderful video show at the very top of one of the towers.
Also, don’t miss the museum at the entrance as well. If you walk clear through to the library you’ll find access to the tower that has an awesome outdoor view of the entire village.
Save some time to eat at a cafe on one of the cobblestone streets.
A true highlight of our trip!

Best castle to tour in all of Latvia. Be sure to grab a candle lit lantern when you get tickets and explore the castle by candle light just like in the Middle ages. Also, don't miss the multimedia history exhibit in the castle tower.
john siegel — Google review
I didn’t go on the tour so my review is far from complete. The castle is on a hill above a lovely park. If you want to see the inside you have to pay, which I opted not to do, but walking around the outside is great too. The walk only takes about 10 minutes but it offers some great views of the exterior and you can get up on an adjacent hill to see some of the town through the towers.

Stunning castle and mostly in great condition. Interesting displays inside along with a pretty good museum. The latter could do with some more English signage but apart from that a €10 entry fee and smiling attentive staff.

Definitely worth to visit. I especially like the 4D projection for illustrating the history and functionality of the castle. The lantern makes tourists more engaging.

Visited Jan 2, 2022 and arrived at 3:30 local time with sunset at 4 PM so they give you authentic candle lanterns to make your way through the dark, unlit walkways and stairs. It was a very interesting and exciting way to tour an old castle.

Loved this place. Only 10 euro to visit everything on the site. Beautiful 13th century castle ruins with benches and picnic tables in the garden area. Definately a must see while in Latvia as it's only a 3 euro ride from Riga to here. Very easy walk from the train station. Staff were cordial and helpful.

Definitely worth the time and effort to visit. The castle is 800+ years old. They give you a candle lantern to navigate the very dark stairwells which gives a realistic feel to your time in the castle. Nice museum on site as well.

Great museum. Very interesting approach with candles to lighten your way while climbing to towers. It’s especially interesting for kids. In one of the towers there were a tower history video with 360 degree - similar to planetarium. It’s possible to visit 2 old castle towers, medieval garden and main museum. At moment when we visited in museum there were an exhibition called “Hallo” about communication and phones. Most interesting part were 2 old phones with circle pad, where you can call from one to other. Kid loved it. It was an amazing experience.

The town is very nice and the castle makes it more interesting. The entrance is from a courtyard near the park. 10 euros the ticket. The exhibitions are very rich and the place is also very attractive. English around the exhibits and not on the piece of paper per room would be great.

Off to a good start with a very friendly cat at the entrance! Entry is worth the price with a very interactive and well kept castle with lots to listen to and watch. Some very interesting history and very accessible. A highlight was being given a candle lantern to explore the winding staircases.
One of the best castles in Latvia and well worth a visit

Very beautiful castle and park... liked the authentic atmosphere a lot... the castle is of course rebuilt/renovated in various areas to not fall into decay, but it is not subtracting anything from the experience
The trip with old light to the top and the multimedia movie in the tower is really amazing experiences
Highly recommend this castle

Cēsis castle is simply beautiful. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I thought it would be a quick visit but we spent 2 hours. I was very impressed by the amount of interaction with the people working there. They have a cool games area where you can see and try ancient games, walking on sticks. There is a musician continuously playing traditional instruments and we had the chance of meeting a person re-enacting the trade of doing rosaries. Apparently on weekends there are more artisans. The animation in the masters chamber in the west tower is really well done. All in all huge applaud to the people working behind the scenes and the 2 friendly girls who worked the reception.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cesis is a significant medieval church located outside of Riga, Latvia. Built in the 13th century, it still serves as an active Lutheran church and boasts a rich history. The church facade is awaiting restoration, but the community remains vibrant and engaged. Visitors can explore exhibitions inside and admire impressive features such as the tombs of the Masters of the Livonian Order and miraculously preserved stained glass with the Latvian coat of arms.
Nice Church
Ian Y — Google review
It's OK at max. Maybe, if you stretch your visit might be able to stay 15 minutes inside. Although, that is not counting climbing the stairs.
But in the church itself there is nothing that you would not find in most other churches as well.
So, it will be a run trough visit at most.
Ah, almost forgot, the glass in lead windows are actually not half bad at all.

Pretty, very old, church with a terrifying (fun) option to tour the bell tower. The church is pretty, but let's be honest - all churches from that era are. For mere 2€ you can take your life in your hands and climb the stairs of the ~65m bell tower for a view. Most of the thrill comes from navigating the near-black steep staircase on your way up. Still, I enjoyed it.

Nicely fixed up white church that really stands out in the town. Especially at night, the church shines with the spit lights.
The inside still needs to be finished being restored.

The church facade still awaits restoration, but the community seems to be very active. The guide, a senior lady, is very vigorous, helpful and gave lots of information, as did the exhibitions inside. The tombs of the Masters of the Livonian Order and the stained glass with the Latvian coat of arms, which was miraculosly preserved by the pastor during the Soviet time are impressive.

We came all the way from Tallinn to visit this place. On arrival you just have to buy a ticket and then it is up to you how far you would like to drive. This place has lovely touch of human but in the same time you can feel like deep in the forest - depends what you walk. The place has nice stairs so you do not have to climb the mud. Also awesome views to the river and really awesome tall trees. There are activities on the road, nice picnic place we found next to the river and interesting sculptures.
So, if you need to gather energy but are afraid of walking to the wild forest- it is nice pick.

Valmiermuižas alus darītava is a unique countryside brewery and restaurant located outside the town. The cozy atmosphere of the place resembles a countryside house, offering a spacious restaurant and a shop where visitors can purchase local goods such as bio cosmetics, cheese, sweets, beer, wine, strong spirits, and souvenirs. The restaurant prides itself on using seasonal products to create high-quality dishes dominated by vegetables. Visitors have praised the delicious food and accommodating staff.
The atmosphere of the place is really good!
I loved their tables outside with nice surrounding. The service was one of the nicest I’ve experienced in Latvia. Burger was good (not the best for this price but still good). The variety of beer is awesome.
There’s also a shop with their product where you can buy pretty cool things.

This is a unique place outside the town, which has it's own cozy atmosphere of the countryside house. There is a brewery building and a spacious Restaurant, as well as a shop, where you can buy some local goods - Bio cosmetics, cheese, sweets, beer and wine, some strong spirits and souvenirs.
The prices at the restaurant are worth the quality of the food, because they make everything from the seasonal products, so vegetables definitely dominate in the menu.
We tried three different dishes and their beer ice cream - everything was fresh and delicious, and the waiters can also advise you some beers to pair with the food. Don't miss the chance to use such an opportunity!
Even though the service is quite slow, it doesn't really matter, because there are many things to do there, walk around, enjoy the sun or a warm summer evening.

Firstly no car park, spaces for a few cars at the side. There is no place to pay just a man who comes to greet you and wants €6 who may be the owner. You will not get a ticket (I suspect no tax is being paid!).
The area is very much for children, with lots of very lovely wooden sculptures and simple activities. There is 1 toilet which is on the road and was full with flies, so avoid! There is nowhere to buy an ice cream or a cold drink. There is nowhere to eat.
The owner said we had to be 18 to go into the labyrinth. When we did go into the labyrinth we were shocked to see lots of explicit wooden sculptures. But what was more shocking was that people were walking into the labyrinth with children. Why would you put such a thing in the middle of a children’s playground?? I can only wonder about the owner! Children and this sort of thing just do not go together!! When we asked the owner why children were going into the labyrinth he just said that it’s up to the parents!
Overall I’m not sure what to think. Anyway, go around the corner on the main road and go through the trees, that way you can get in for free and decide for yourselves.
We stayed at the panorama suite, it was super nice.
Loved the spa. Because we stayed there in middle of the week, the spa was really quiet and felt super private. Loved the saunas and outdoor swimming pool.
I Recommend getting a spa treatment, massage was lovely and relaxing.
10 points for the service also. Receptionist was nice and friendly.
The kitchen made a super delicious vegan dinner for us. Thank you chef 😊

Long time we wanted to be here. Once drove past and came to see, we liked it. And here came to celebrate my husband’s birthday. In addition to the atmosphere of the castle, we enjoyed excellent spa and great food in the restaurant. But I have to note the downsides: rice porridge is not made from rice, the day after the arrival there was no cleaning in our room (although friends cleaned up), in the part of the restaurant, where the dinner was very crowded, bustle, no sense of parade. Steak knives brought back after it was served. Despite the fact that we had suites, the design in them is strange (but then we saw the numbers in the next building and it became clear that all this). The designer mixed incompatible styles and the performance of the repairs also raises questions. And finally, my husband had a birthday, usually hotels give wine and sweets, and here nothing. But thanks for the spa, the food and the fine coffee!

+ luxurious and clean
+ private and quiet
+ wide range of saunas available
+ nothing to do there for kids, thus no loud kids running around (a plus for us, negative for families)
- the general air in the spa and the big pool were too cold in our opinion (29C, we prefer 32+C)
- no food or snack options from the bar - only drinks and smoothies
- old school locks in a new spa. should use some sort of magnetic chip system which would allow tracking for bar payments as well. currently the number on the key was asked when getting drinks from the bar

Wonderful castle which has rooms in an alternate building so make sure you check where do you have the room. It has great parking and exquisite spa option. The restaurant is really busy on weekends, book a table in advance! We got a table at 10pm. The service over there was great though but the prices are quite high, considering it's rular location.

Quite interesting place to see for a short break from a car ride. Caves in the sandstone used to consist of multiple passages to seven different rooms, but some rooms have collapsed now. The cave used to be called "hell" during old times. Passages were made by spring water, however, people have expanded them and used them for a refuge. As the passages are quite low, it is harder to see much inside. Personally, it seemed a bit scary to crawl :)

My plan was to come here in summer but I just couldn't wait! It is an amazing quiet place for nature lovers and adventurers as myself.
The first thing I noticed was silence. Although the caves are located quite close to the highway, the minute you step into the forest/park, the noise disappears.
My hosts were a couple of deers; I also noticed some other animals signs on the snow 😁
I didn't have enough courage to explore the caves inside because I was alone, however, next time I'll take someone with me. Maybe the legend about the Devil inside scared me, I don't know.
Anyway, it is rather easy to get there: take a bus nr 80 from Tõrva or walk for ca 35 minutes from the city; if you come by car, there is a parking lot right next to the park with the caves.
Definitely recommend this place for visiting.

This place has a great collection of military vehicles, and the owners are doing great work in restoring them. The inside exhibits are lacking English translations which is a shame, but understand they are yet to receive any funding to help with this. They hold a annual festival each year which looked like it was going to be amazing if you are a military buff. Nice little town to stop in for lunch on way to Tallin too.
Dan — Google review
Our Treveller.ee tour group made a stop at this military museum in Valga, a town situated on the Estonia Latvian Border part of the town is in Estonia, part is in Latvia. The museum is located in the Estonian half of the town. This explains why most of the signs in the museum are Estonian.
You will not see many military weapons that post date World War 2 here. The military vehicles outside are very outdated and in bad repair as you might expect.
Weapons from Estonia, Russia and Nazi Germany are exhibited.
The most compelling exhibits are not those that display walls of weapons, but those that include mannequins in uniforms, some fighting on the battlefield strewn with shells of used munitions.
I would not say this is a kid friendly museum for any child lower than the age of conscription.

Pukhya Church was built in 1499, it was a three-nave house church. The vaults of the central part of the building have been destroyed. After numerous renovations, the choir room and vaulted ceiling have been preserved in their original form. The western façade of the church deserves attention, where a richly profiled portal with numerous pediment niches and a console is presented, the destroyed part of which has been replaced by a wooden structure. Also interesting is the building next to the stairs in the southwestern corner of the church. Next to the church there is an old barn and opposite it, behind the community center, is the Puhja cemetery. Not far from the cemetery, next to the road to Elva, there grows a century-old tree - the Syti birch, the circumference of which is 3 meters and the height is 22 meters.

Good adventure Park for all ages. Trails are relatively short, so you won't be exhausted but still will have to work for it 😁. They also have an amazing zip line experience.

On summer their closing time was 6pm. We arrived at 4pm and place was allready closed. There was no sign about earlier closing time. Called the number which was on door and person told me she closed today before 4pm because there were not many people today. What? I travelled from Tartu to visit park.

It was a fun obstacle course up high in the trees, had safety equipment provided and an instructor that leads you through a basic course, afterwards you are left to do your own adveturing.

One of the hardest final track in Estonia. Mainly you will be tired by time you reach Sufferer‘s track.

Cool tracks. Until the 5th it is rather easy. "Kannatuste rada" however is more challenging even for fit people.
Beautiful park and special manor that is used for school at these days. Really nice place with good vibe!

(Translated by Google) A wonderful museum, one of the best military museums (and not only) in Estonia. It is completely private, so I advise you to donate a little when visiting the museum, or even better, order the services of a guide - you will learn more new things, a lot of new things, in fact, and you will also help the museum. It is maintained exclusively by the private savings of the museum owners.
When visiting museums in Estonia, this museum is a must visit.
