Well-known ski resort featuring a terrain park & other winter activities, plus bars & restaurants.
So much skiing, I had the best of weather, fresh snow and I will be going back.
David Barton — Google review
Great place to ski. Lots of blue runs of varying levels of difficulty. Plenty of restaurants and bars for lunchtime break or evening meal. Easy to get around the various different villages, either by ski lift or bus. Easy access to the whole Paradiski region. Would definitely recommend.
Phoenixpooh — Google review
Lovely resort. Everything you could really want. The food Is incredible! 🤤
Went over new year. Lovely atmosphere on NYE out on the snow watching all the fireworks.
Charlotte Hickey — Google review
Great place for beginner skiers. Huge selection of runs of varying difficulty. Maybe missing the nightlife of some of the bigger resorts, as it's spread out across 10 smaller locations, but after a day of skiing we didn't miss the late nights. Would definitely recommend for anyone new to skiing
Jeff Caro-Nash — Google review
I've been coming here for a few years and have to say it's an incredible resort.
Not only are there vast areas to ski at all levels, but it's the way they continue to keep the resort up to date in terms of lifts and skiing experience.
It almost feels that every time you come back there is a new high-speed chair or a modification to a run to make it that bit more interesting.
The runs are mainly blue, but they are fantastic, long, and interesting. Some being more suited to beginners and intermediates, and some getting a bit steaper to help people progress. The reds are then a welcomed challenge, with some being un grommed to give that mogal field joy we all love ;-)
The blacks are mostly ungroomed, with some being long and pretty steep in places to give a good challenge to those who want it. Granted, the blacks can often be closed depending on snowfall, but that is good to see in a way that they are looking out for the skiers who come here.
There is a vast amount of off piest skiing to be done as well for those who want the challenge.
I've skiied a good few resorts and do find myself comparing to la plagne just because of how well it's looked after and also because of the sheer volume of skiing to be done.
Well worth coming here if you can
Ellie The Goldendoodle — Google review
It was fantastic. This was our first time at La Plagne. It was easily accessible by snow, foot or bus to each of the resorts. It was very family friendly and had great blue runs for our daughter to practice her skiing on!
We will be back as we didn't get to do some of the off slope activities so still plenty to explore for next time!
Emmia Stratford — Google review
It's the 2nd time here for my husband and I. We visited 5 years ago. The villages are all a bit different but It's a massive area with some great skiing. It has something for everyone.
Valerie Robinson — Google review
I spent the last week in March 2024 here. Was excellent. It's a group of small villages spread out over the mountain and all connected via lifts or buses.
The slopes themselves were massive, could easily spend a week exploring the mountain and never take the same run twice. It's geared more towards skiers, and I do wish there was some more green runs to just play around in and slow things down but it's not a deal breaker.
Nightlife is spread out across the villages and it's a couple bars that see most of the action. Nothing crazy.
Supermarkets do have some insane prices given the remote nature of the resort.
Lots of people take their dogs and there always playing in the snow which I love to see.
Great place overall.
Stuart M — Google review
Really wonderful wide slopes and enough lifts to serve all visitors rapidly.
Bart van Dijk — Google review
La Plagne ski resort in France is an absolute gem! I recently had the pleasure of visiting this winter wonderland, and I was blown away by the quality of the slopes, the stunning scenery, and the friendly staff.
Firstly, the skiing experience at La Plagne is simply unparalleled. With over 225km of ski runs, there is something for everyone, from gentle beginner slopes to challenging black runs for the more advanced skiers. The slopes are impeccably maintained, with plenty of snowmaking machines ensuring that there is always a good base, even in warmer weather. The lifts are also modern and efficient, meaning that there are never long queues or waiting times.
Secondly, the scenery at La Plagne is absolutely breathtaking. Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, the resort offers stunning views of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and pine forests. Whether you're skiing down the slopes or enjoying a hot chocolate in one of the many cozy mountain cafes, you'll feel like you're in a winter wonderland.
Finally, I have to mention the staff at La Plagne, who truly went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. From the friendly ski instructors to the helpful hotel staff, everyone was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. It's clear that they take great pride in their work and in providing the best possible experience for their guests.
Overall, I can't recommend La Plagne ski resort highly enough. Whether you're an experienced skier or a first-timer, you'll love the stunning slopes, breathtaking scenery, and friendly atmosphere of this amazing resort.

Good resort, quite big so plenty to do. Lots of restaurants around as well so you won't go hungry. Lifts are good though none have covers for when it's super cold but that's not too much of a problem. A few nice slopes for beginners but quite a few of the blues are also quite steep.
Kate Busby — Google review
Fantastic ski resort with a wide variety of runs for all ski levels. Never had to wait too long for a lift, and runs were well groomed and sign posted.
Freddie Hemingway — Google review
Lovely ski area which is huge if you include the linked Les Arcs. Lots of nice restaurants and a very wide range of pistes.
There is a problem with queues at pinch points like Plagne Bellacott and 1800 when the ski schools leave and at the end of the day when everyone is trying to get home.
Jeff Bulled — Google review
Fantastic week of skiing, luckily perfectly timed. High enough for snow sure and even on Xmas day only waited 15min for lift.
Average meal with drinks 30-40 euro.
Recommended.
nik w — Google review
First time skiing, and this ski resort is amazing. La plagne bellecote is high up, which means you wake up to snow outside your apartment. There are many runs from bellecote and you can also go into other la plagne villages for more runs!
Luca Hemsley — Google review
One of the best ski resorts with a warm and friendly atmosphere, with lots of blue slops, several villages and great food! You can find everything you need or want there!
Larisa Fnt — Google review
Great ski resort especially for families. We were there in xmas week and we had great time. The snow quality was very good. There are many pistes for different levels and they all end at the same spot. There are many options for cafe and restaurants at the top and bottom of the mountains. There is an indoor galeri/shopping center very convenient for eating, drinking, shopping in the evenings. It also includes a cinema, ice skating area. In every 15 minutes there is a free bus makes it easy to move around la Plagne.
Railway to the Nid d'Aigle at the foot of the Bionnassay glacier, with 6 stops for hikers.
Pricey but well worth the money. We boarded from the first stop and got off at the last one (both ways).
It wasn't too crowded going up (13:15 slot) but it got very crowded when coming down.
The view was magnificent near end of july during a heatwave and clear sky.
We had lunch from the cafe next to the glacier while watching the view and it was breathtaking.
You will have to book your return slot when you arrive at the top so don't forget to do that right away and be ready to stand the whole ride. It takes longer than 1hr so board early and grab a window seat if you can.

It is called Mont-Blanc Tramway but never on the entire trip you get a glimpse of the famous mountain. Not in Summer 2023 anyway, when the ride ends at Mont Lachat station and most tourist are confused on why the Tramway would end at such a disappointing place. Wait till next year!
Dieter Marmet — Google review
The trip is beautiful and the view at the mountains and gletcher is spectacular.
But...the tram is overcrowded (up & down), like Covid-19 does not exist! They do not check if people have a 'passe sanitaire' or wear masks inside the tram: unbelievable.
Rogér Dudziec — Google review
Fantastic tramway with amazing views of Mont Blanc, the valleys below, and the towns nearby as you ascend on its west side. You definitely want to be on the right side on the way up and the left side on the way back down for the best views. Bring your lunch and take the 11am tram up and the 2pm tram back down if you don't plan to hike much, otherwise give yourself more time. There are cafes and restaurants, but if you cam,.pack your own!
David W. Miller — Google review
Took this trip to explore more of the Mont Blanc range and wasn't disappointed. Incredible journey up the side of the mountains, sharing the trip with mountaineers who were off to the summit. Good choice of walks from the top - clothing for cooler weather & good footwear essential.

Lake Annecy, located in France, is a breathtaking body of water that offers ample opportunities for swimming and various water sports. The lake is surrounded by mountains and adjacent parks with plenty of bike paths to explore. It's an ideal place to take a stroll with your family or furry friend as all stores are pet-friendly. For the ultimate experience, it is recommended to visit during the end of spring or summer when the weather is perfect for enjoying all that this magical place has to offer.
Beautiful lake with a stunning vista of the snow capped alps in the background. The water is clear and blue. A great place to take a leisurely stroll, but also seems a popular area for running or cycling around.
L M — Google review
My visit to the Lake was so amazing. Annecy is a beautiful and peaceful city. The Lake had amazing views and it was simply picturesque.
The water was very clear and the rumours about the lake annecy having the cleanest water in Europe seemed true.
As a tourist to Annecy you definitely have to visit the Lake. There are alot of beautiful places to take nice pictures and after having a fun time at the lake there are a lot of restaurants and bars around you have a meal or drink at very affordable prices.
I will definitely be visiting again in the future as I love it so much my only challenge with the city is that it's very small so you there are no trains or trams to go around and I dont understand how the buses worked.

Super super bluish lake covered around with mountains. Must recommend to take a boat ride which is worth. You can view
the alps from here in the boat ride.

It was raining therefore not a good time to visit this lake. However this place is amazing with great views and shining blue water.
Great place to visit in summer time for boating and swimming!

Definitely you cannot visit France without visiting this place “lac d’Annecy”. It is a magic place with these unimaginable views. Here you can walk with your family, your dog… all of the stores are pet friendly. I prefer to visit this village in summer or in the end of spring because the weather is the most important thing to enjoy it till 100%. Also, behind the pics, there is a big park with grass to rest a bit.

Truly stunning. I will certainly be back for a longer stay! There are water activities to try and the little village town has a lot more shops and restaurants than I had expected! Come for no less than a full day because you will want to enjoy the leisurely lunch, do shopping and enjoy lake. The morning market is really good and the locals are very friendly compared to the rest of France. The region is famous for its dairy products.

Such a beautiful lake with a magnificent view. You can enjoy a picnic with your loved ones while bathing in the lake or taking a sun bath. There is a good restaurant besides the lake but the number of food outlets can be increased to provide food at all times to the tourists.
Apart from that, clear water, blue vibes and the pure environment just makes your day. ❤️

Lake Annecy claims the Europe's most cleanest and clear lake! 😍 its such an amazing clear lake with a French Alps view 😍
There are plenty of activities to do on the lake such as kayaking, swimming (the temperature maybe cold thus suggested to swim during summer) , pedal boat, etc.
Must visit lake 👍🏻
Avoriaz is one of the 12 resorts in the Portes du Soleil skiing area. It provides more than 600 km of slopes and is an ideal location for families to learn how to ski. The resort is situated at an altitude of 1800m in the French Alps, and it starts snowing from early December.
Great place to learn to ski 🎿 for all thefamily 👪 Situated at 1800m altitude in the French Alps, snowing 🌨 from beginning of December. The skiing resort has all you need at the door step, ski out ski in, ski rentals, skiing schools for kids and adults, learners and advanced slopes, restaurants, huts 🛖 seling hot drinks and pancakes, shops, supermarkets where you can by anything including reading made hot food. We loved the most the restaurants on the slopes, didn't need to go back on the resort for a drink or food, being able to have hot drinks and food enabled us to stay all day on the slopes.

A beautiful large ski resort. It can be quite steep and difficult to walk around. The weather cannot be helped, however in bad weather it can be difficult to get around. Lots of shops and restaurants, not much night life especially if you're staying below the gondola lift as it stops running at 9pm. Pros and cons, however this is my first ski resort so I'm unsure what to compare it against for now.
Bex Middleton — Google review
A beautiful ski resort, easy access straight from the hotels. Horses pulling couples and families right where you ski ⛷️, amazing sight to see

Avoriaz is a brilliant place in winter. Great skiing and snow boarding. Lots of runs and off piste sections. The resort itself is car free but does have snow mobiles, tracked vehicles and horse drawn slays buzzing about. There is plenty of places to eat and lots of entertainment. The swimming pool is super fun and should not be missed, waving to people on the chair lift while sitting in the outdoor outdoor hot tub is fun not to mention the adult only water slide. There is also Ice skating and a pool hall.
Andy Fenney — Google review
Third summer visit. Brilliant car free resort with some amazing mountain views. Lots to do with teenage boys in the resort but also nearby Morzine and les Gets (great new summer sledge there). Lovely restaurants (booking necessary) and kids can safely hang out in the evening playing football or beach volley with other kids. Perfect for downhill mountain bike. We wanted to try the new electric scooter tours but the whole week was already booked up.
Natalie Pajot — Google review
Avoriaz is great. For families it is almost unrivalled I'd say.
Having no traffic in the town centre is wonderful, although of course it does come with the (minor) inconvenience of having to trudge everywhere through various depths of snow.
The horse drawn sleds are lovely but they are expensive so unlikely that you'll use them a lot.
The Portes du Soleil is amazing BUT it's not very high so you really need a good snow year!
James Gray — Google review
We had an incredible Christmas break in Avoriaz. The festive ambiance, car-free resort, and family-friendly activities made it an outstanding experience. We highly recommend it.
Arianne Clar — Google review
Had an amazing trip with some friends, only issue is the large number of people in this resort, a 30 minute wait time to board a ski lift wasnt to our enjoyment. A lack of services to commend for the number of residents is to notice all the same
Alex BR — Google review
A great vehicle free resort a couple of hours away from Geneva airport.
I recommend the Port de Soleil pass & you can access posted for miles & over to Switzerland.
A G — Google review
Find a better ski resort. Close to Geneva, good altitude, so snow sure, great variety of accommodation. Great runs. What's not to like.
Dick Sloan — Google review
It's a high ski resort so
the rooms are small and very basic
The restaurants supermarkets and takeaways and other shops + pharmacies are incredibly expensive
Just paid 10euros for a large beer, under a pint
Fondue was 52 euros for 2
Most food and consumables are double UK prices
After all that, we had constant snow skiing is good . It was very busy, and at times the occasional 15 - 20-minute queue for a lift which can we worked around if you know where you're going.
The Vieille Ville Annecy, a popular tourist attraction, is characterized by its well-preserved medieval Old Town. Visitors can enjoy wandering around the area without any specific purpose and admire the emerald-green canals that run beneath ancient stone bridges. The pastel-painted buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries are another noteworthy feature of this charming town, which basks in the warm sunlight.

Swiss Vapeur Parc is a captivating miniature railway park located in Le Bouveret, where the Rhone meets Lake Geneva. Covering 19,000 m2, it features replica Swiss landmarks like Aigle Castle, complete with bridges and tunnels. The park boasts over a dozen steam locomotives that offer delightful rides for visitors of all ages. Families can enjoy collecting colorful Easter eggs during the festive season and partake in the exciting train rides.
I love this place and the cute mini trains. And the whole surrounding built in mini design and architecture are well. So detailed, perfect and clean - equal fun for adults as for kids! Must visit, not just for train enthusiasts 😅.

Great for a day with kids. There is often an interactive quizz to do throughout the park. I recommend arriving early and leave around 1pm for lunch in a restaurant around (the parc one is just simple kids menu).
To note: there are very nice plants throughout the whole parc. If the car park is full, use the car parc next to the train station.

This is a place that everyone should visit with their kids. We went there with our 7, 5, 4 years old kids. They collected the different colors of eggs, and they were very happy to participate in the Easter celebration 🐣. The only downside was that people didn't want to leave the trains so that other people would ride them to the next station. But that is just how people are, nothing to do with the organization. We all had a wonderful time.

Tips that we learn:
Restaurants around the area are closed till 6pm (2nd shift) make sure to secure some snacks for the little one
Public transport connection in St mourice station will give you only 3 min to catch the train back to Geneva , you will need to run :)

Great place to visit with young children. Conveniently located next to the train station and lots of parking. They have places to eat or shaded benches to picnic. Better to bring a baby carrier than a stroller because you'll need to park it at the entrance to ride the trains. The park is a good size for small children and easy to walk around.
Tara O'Brien — Google review
A Lovely place, for kids and adults to enjoy and who love miniature trains! Has a bunch of trains to ride on, but all run on the same track (which is gorgeous). The size of the park vs. the activity is used to its limit. However, things can be suggested to make it better.
Highly recommended!

The St. Peters Cathedral in Geneva is a beautiful and historic church, which is widely considered as one of the best sightseeing places in the city. The cathedral features some interesting gothic elements, which makes it one of the most beautiful churches in the world. Additionally, the towers of the structure are incredibly beautiful and worth climbing if you're interested in seeing the city from a unique perspective.
We visited this 850+ year old cathedral which is impressive. We climbed St Peter’s Tower and had spectacular view of Geneva. It was an adventure since we climbed the first tower and walked across the other tower. It was awesome to be outdoor (not only see through windows) and view Geneva at different angles. It is super windy when we went.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
The panorama view from the top of the cathedral is amazing. The entrance to the main hall of the cathedral is free. A ticket is needed to visit the south and the north towers. It costs 7CHF and there were no queues. However, prepare for a lot of small stairs to go up! There is no elevator. The view is really amazing, especially to the lake and it is worth the effort.
Leon Anavi — Google review
Very nice cathedral. The nicest parts is the chapel on the right from the entrance and the tower with its own labyrinth of terraces. Each offers a great view of the panorama of Geneve.
This is one of places you really don't want to miss when sightseeing, especially if you are walking from the center/Ritz to Patek Philippe's museum. Really worth a time spent. Be careful of opening hours though!
Pawe? Skar?y?ski — Google review

Best view of Geneva you'll ever get, and as a nice little bonus, the view is from one of the most modestly beautiful Cathedrals I've ever had the pleasure to be inside. Definitely worth doing the catacombs as well, truly humbling and mind-blowing.

Must visit the north tower panoramic view of Geneva. It is a steep climb of probably 100 steps, but the view at the top is worthwhile! Pay 7chf extra for the ascend inside the church. I also find the side chapel room to be excellent w its beautiful stain glass work. The main church is not particularly impressive in comparison to many European major churches.

Great cathedral! They have tourist guides outside (FREE) that will give you a bit of history about 10-20 minutes. It’s amazing to see the bright stain glass windows and the big organ pipes. It took about 70 years to build and you can see the differences as they build the place. Worth the visit!

Absolutely amazing!
We went to the cathedral on a quiet Monday and bought tickets upon arrival to go all the way to the top.
The journey up there was definitely worth it as the views were just breathtaking! There are a couple of different levels on the way up to stop and take photos before continuing to the very top so plenty of opportunities to take it all in and enjoy!
It wasn’t all that busy either, which was a real benefit. This is a must-do in Geneva - you can’t get sights like this anywhere else in the city!
Marina Lovejoy-Black — Google review
As an historical monument worth a look but in terms of a cathedral architecture and design I’ve been in much more impressive ones. Free entry of course. Stained glass was interesting to note there was not much in way of saints and figures, which I found surprising. The small chapel near the exit is highlight with painted and decorated ceiling and door way so don’t miss that.

Beautiful cathedral and a must-do viewing tower to see the stunning landscape of Geneva. The stairs to get up are very narrow and steep. It only takes around 3 minutes to climb to the top so not as bad as it seems, and worth it when you get to the top. Reasonable price for a great tourist attraction. Cost around 11 CHF for one adult and one child

Even if you have one day in Geneva, just like me, this is the place you want to visit. It is in old town, and you want to visit the old town as well, so just do it? From here it is just minutes walk to the lake front and there are many restaurants in between, expensive though :)

Visiting the (North) Tower was the highlight for us in Geneva! It's not that heavy going up but the view is amazing! See my pictures for self explanation. We were at lunch time up there and unfortunately the water fountain was turned off. However, at around 13:00(1pm) it was turned on again.

St Pierre Cathedral used to be a Roman Catholic Church converted to Protestant church during reformation. The stained glass windows are stunning. While entry to the cathedral is free, you have to pay some entry fee to get to the tower, from where you get a nice view of Geneva.

An exquisite protestant church in the heart of the old town in Geneva. Worth a visit along with a walking tour of the old town to get a feel of the times gone by! I unfortunately visited on a public holiday, hence the church was closed. Very interesting to walk along the narrow pathways, as i heard of many secret passages as part of the Cathedral and its surrounding architecture!

Visited here a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. The staff were friendly; and after purchasing some reasonably priced tickets we were able to climb the stairs to get to the top of the cathedral, where we got incredible views of the city and surrounding scenery. There was a very effective 'traffic light' system which kept the rooms nearly empty (allowing you to enjoy the building without large crowds distrupting your experience). There were plenty of rooms and corridors along the top of the Cathedral allowing you to spend a decent amount of time there, and also allowing us to get 360° views from each side of the cathedral of the city/scenery. Definitely worth visiting during your trip in Geneva.
Zade — Google review
A huge (gothic) cathedral with a view. There some 160 stairs to the top, the staircases are super narrow and operated by traffic lights. You can see the church roof both from inside and outside, you can check the bells too. The towers are definitely worth the visit (for a small fee 5-7chf, paid inside the church).

Beautiful cathedral very well maintenance and with amazing painted glass windows. Free to enter but you need to pay 15€ to go up the towers. Super worth it, beautiful views of Genebra and the lake and a unique way to explore the cathedral towers and ceiling

One of the historical buildings for Christians. It has two tower for observing around and see Geneve's wiev. It has also archological sites under it. You can visit with ticket without reservation. Enjoy history and landscapes.

A place rich in history. It was so important for Geneve for such long time that it is a "must go place" when visiting the city.
I recommend buying the stairs + archeological site combo; it's super cool to see the city from above and super interesting to check the excavations where so much happened in the past.
Bruno Jodas — Google review
What a beautiful structure.
We paid seven Swiss francs to tour the towers, which was worth it for the view.
There are a lot of small steps to go up the tower and back down the other tower.

St. Pierre Cathedral stands as a remarkable architectural marvel, showcasing centuries of craftsmanship and artistic brilliance. The soaring spires and intricate details of the facade create a visual spectacle that captures the imagination from the outset. The interior, with its grand vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows, offers a tranquil space for spiritual contemplation.
Despite the cathedral's undeniable beauty, my recent visit on Christmas Eve was marked by a regrettable incident. As the only brown individuals in attendance, we couldn't help but notice a lack of diversity. While the architectural magnificence was undeniably present, the experience was marred when, upon returning choir booklets, a lady volunteer exhibited an unfortunate lack of warmth. Her strange stare and the abrupt manner in which she pulled the booklet from our hands left a lasting negative impression.
Despite this unfortunate incident, St. Pierre Cathedral remains a must-visit for those appreciating architectural wonders and seeking a glimpse into Geneva's rich history. It is my hope that future visitors encounter a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

A magnificent cathedral with classic tall beam structures, glasswork and historical wooden interiors (such as choir stands from the 1500’s), an interesting visit and there is no entrance fee. Definitely has that holy feel, even if you aren’t religious. So full of history it would be a shame not to visit, so highly recommend stopping by!!
Lake Geneva is a large and curved lake, boasting of luxurious cities, spas, beaches and high-end stores. Its shoreline is renowned for its French-inspired architecture while the Swiss Alps form an impressive backdrop that makes it an excellent place to relax with a peaceful atmosphere and slower pace of life.
One of the most beautiful lakes in the world. You can enjoy taking a walk, lying down, or having a drink with your family. It also has a beautiful fountain that attracts visitors.

This is a serene and a beautiful spot that you can opt for to spend a quiet afternoon/evening. The lake itself extends for quite a bit and has an amazing backdrop of snow capped mountains. Not to mention that there are also some good photogenic spots all over it. This is a few hours drive from Lyon and is a good place for a weekend getaway.

You have the most stunning views and landscape in almost every direction. It is highly recommended to get a cruise trip (which is free if you have a swiss travel pass).
Mesmerizing sights of the water jet, the Montblanc, quaint villages, the Dent and Château d'Hoche. One of coolest things to do in Geneva, a cruise trip or just visiting the lake area, you have many public places to swim around or feed the birds etc. great experience

Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman) is a crescent-shaped lake shared between France and Switzerland, and overlooked by the Alps. Geneva, the Swiss city at its southern tip, is a diplomatic hub with luxury shops and a cobbled old town. On the southern, French side, is the spa town and resort of Évian-les-Bains. The chic, palm-studded Swiss Riviera stretches along the north shore from Lausanne to Montreux.

Visited on our way to Zermatt, nice place to have a walk around and to grab some food. Found a parking spot on the side of the lake but we should've known it was wishful thinking because we had a parking ticket when we got back to our car. We thought it was free but after we got a ticket we worked out it was free for residents with parking permits 🙈

The Royal Monastery of Brou is a flamboyant Gothic-style monastery renowned for its ornate marble royal tombs and oak choir stalls. Founded in the early 1500s as a burial place for the Dukes and their families, it was established by Margaret of Austria. Visitors can explore the vast interior for a small fee, with interactive displays and videos bringing its history to life. The monastery houses a large collection of artworks, traditional wooden toys, and intricate architecture.
A truly beautiful monastery. The vast majority of the interior is open to visit for a small entry fee. Interactive displays and videos bring the history of this great building to life. A large collection of artworks, traditional wooden toys and intricate architecture provides a pleasure filled visit for all. Learn about the history of monarchs who resided here or see how the building was constructed and adjusted over the years. This really is the crowning jewel of any visit to Bourg-en-Bresse. A must visit.

Took my breath away. The artisitic detail on the choir area, the beautiful stained glass windows (whose features included "textured" glass, making the clothes look like velevet or silk!), and the prominent paintings by famous artists, were all so fantastic. Parking mandatory (5€/h) and a lot of people over the weekend.
Organize yourself to avoid the crowd.
Julien Hurth — Google review
Quite crowded but not without reason. Several lathe and small waterfalls can be viewed and experienced from a will maintained path.
Though mostly easy to walk with stairs were needed, it can be sometimes a bit steep and slippery.
Because there is only one trail along the river and the trail at points only allows one person, when crowded it is easily jammed.
Don't forget to bring some food and drinks with you if you venture past the first waterfall.
There is plenty of parking space (paid).
Stefan van Aalst — Google review
There are several walks to the waterfalls, we took the short one from the road above, but I believe you can walk a longer tour along the river and all around. You're able to walk very close to the falls themselves and watch from secure metal gantry. You can also view the falls from a viewpoint above.
There is a restaurant nearby, but I believe it is only open during certain seasons. It would provide a wonderful view of the falls while eating though!

A beautiful but also demanding path for which you should definitely take safe footwear. The effort is definitely rewarded with beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking views. Unfortunately, the parking fee of €15 is really not cheap, but hopefully the money will at least be used to preserve the beautiful natural spectacle :)

Beautiful waterfalls and walk...would definately recommend it for a day trip. It could be quite difficult to walk parts of the route if you had limited mobility as there are many steps and slippery rocks but you can choose how far you walk. On the route we took I couldn't see any restrooms or restaurants which were open unfortunately

Nice cascade. Unfortunately, it was almost dry because of the hot summer.
-2 stars because of the parking lot for which you have to pay (5 euro 1h). The first 20 minutes are free, but it is almost impossible (without running) in that timeslot to walk to the waterfall and back
Stefan de Vries — Google review
Absolutely stunning waterfalls. Make sure you wear good footwear with a lot of grip as it's quite slippy in places. Also it's best not to go off on the longer walk in the forest without a map as it is really easy to get lost! There are multiple paths and they are not sign posted once you get away from the main walk along the gorge with the waterfalls.

The neoclassical Place Stanislas is a large, impressive square in the center of the city that is home to many of the city's important sights and institutions. The square is famous for its lavish iron railings and fountains, as well as its statue of Duke Stanislaus Leszczynski.
Definitely a must visit when in that area. you can easily stay hours and look around at the gold plated astonishing buildings from centuries ago. There are Cafes to sit outside and enjoy a sunny day, the cathedral and a church in walking distance and a park to wander around.
There is a parking garage near by, with really tiny spaces but def. worth while stopping there.
There is also a Christmas market there so that is def. another great place to go during the Christmas season.
So make sure Nancy is on your list of places to see in France

In addition to its historical allure, Place Stanislas boasts a selection of charming cafes and restaurants, perfect for indulging in delicious cheesecakes and refreshing drinks while soaking in the ambiance. For families, there's a nearby park where children can play and unwind, making it an ideal destination for visitors of all ages to enjoy a day out in Nancy.

Stanislas has a significant importance in Nancy. It was classified as the favourite monument for France in 2021 and I will tell you why from my perspective: it is historical , big that it can host a parade in december, light show in Summer and winter, 'jardin éphèmere in October' and so much more events. There are restaurants/coffes/ museums/opera around this place. You can enjoy ice cream and delicious food or just sit in the chairs for people who came to admire the place/sun or lights. In special occasions, the lights of the buildings around Stanislas change like 'pink october, ..etc'. You can also visit 'hotel de ville' and enjoy the view from above.

Beautiful example of a large European town square. It's so grand and decorative. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the square which created a great atmosphere. Commonly known as The Nursery as it's English translation or colloquially as The Pep, this is almost 22 hectares of park and garden inside a green space of over fifteen hundred hectares. Named as the nursery as Stanislas Leszczyński, former king of Poland, used this space as trees nursery to be planted along Nancy's streets. It's supposedly designed in a checkerboard style (perhaps better observed from above or when the leaves are growing in summer to appreciate the perpendicular shape). It's well laid out near Stanislas Square and alongside Place de la Carrière, with rose gardens, playground and carousel for kids, sporting spaces, puppets theatre, an art deco garden theatre, a music kiosk and so much more. Accessible to everyone and it's wheelchair friendly. Great for family outings or just a stroll and soak up the atmosphere.

The museum’s design is amazing. But the quality of exhibited art works is not that impressive.

I'm a local, and it's one of my top five things to do here. I live in Metz and I go regularly to see "Le Pompidou" it all again. It's amazing and cool. I love all the exhibitions and also the activities and workshops they propose. It's a very creative environment. The staff is also very caring and willing to help or give you information. Come and marvel!

A beautiful designed museum from 2010 designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines. It has a timber roof structure in the form of a hexagon covered with a waterproof membrane creating beautiful light inside.

Centre Pompidou-Metz is a great contemporary art changeable exhibitions venue.
Plus the building it self is a great architecture landmark, I hardly recommend everybody to visit it, whatever you are interested in contemporary art or not, there will be a reason for your joy there.

Extremely easy to get lost here! The exhibits are fantastic, smart, and always have an acute logic to them. Visiting the center is a real pleasure.

Centre Pompidou Metz is a stunningly designed exposition building. Any architect should at least have been in it to value how design can open up to possibilities, instead of dictating usage. The way expositions are facilitated by the buildings structure and its surrounding, and how curators used it in their summer-expositions of 2023 ("Bonne Chance", "Worldbuilding", "Repetition", etc.), was like wandering in a dream.
Thank you!

Amazing art museum/architecture worth any detour! The Centre Pompidou in Metz orchestrates itself as a breath-taking piece of art on its own. Art collector and art analysing Lacan is in the centre of this most spectacular and challenging exposition in the context of art and its pyschoanalysis with view to various given life topics.
The curation is one of the most sophisticated and successful ever enjoyed @ an art exposition.

It is the Pompidou Museum, so you expect boundary-pushing art, and that was sure the case on the 3rd floor of this museum. It had all kinds of digital arts that are trying to answer social and philosophical questions of life. A bonus was the ability to interact with the video-game-like art.... Like playing a game.
Very fun for kids and family.
On the second floor there was art by French artist Susanne Valadon. She focused on the human body and was the first artist to paint an unclothed man from the front. The exhibition is comprehensive and shows her entire oeuvre.
Her art is bright, colourful and eye-catching.
The first floor had contemporary, abstract art.
Overall, definitely worth a visit, but I would recommend coming in early. I experienced quite a queue when it opened.

The Centre Pompidou in Metz is an amazing museum that deserves more recognition. The artworks they showcase, ranging from classic to contemporary, are truly exceptional. The building itself is a masterpiece and worth a visit in its own right. Don't miss out on their museum shops, which are curated with great stuff. Highly recommended for art lovers and a hidden gem for visitors!
Metz Cathedral is a massive and ornate Gothic cathedral in Metz, France. It is popularly called the 'Gods lantern' for its incredible collection of medieval stained glass windows, some of which are brightly coloured and imaginative. The cathedral is home to one of the highest naves in the world and boasts an impressive array of lacy golden spires.
It is a great place. We have been there for a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately did not see any ceremony happening but just visiting and walking around was enough too. The cathedral is very clean with high ceilings and Colourful detailing of both architecture and art . You need to spend hours to get the meaning of the message transferred via pictures on the mosaic glass walls

This cathedral isn’t as famous as other cathedrals in France or Europe but it rivals them in terms of its beauty. It is large but has intricately detailed decor. The stonework was phenomenal in both quantity and quality. The interior was amazing and I was taken with the incredible stained glass windows. I didn’t pay them enough attention at first so be sure to look carefully at them. Wonderful feat of engineering.

I only saw the outside since I got there after-hours, but it is a magnificent building. If you're in the area and have an opportunity to go Metz, definitely go and definitely add the cathedral to the list. Also, if you can see the light show (which may be hard to do depending on train schedules and your transportation needs), I would highly recommend!

Shocked by how stunning this cathedral was. It was absolutely enormous. Perhaps the largest church I’ve ever been in. The outside is an architectural wonder, but the inside takes your breath away with its sheer elevation and open space. If you are into European churches, this is a must see. Even if you’re not, I’d still say you shouldn’t miss it if in Metz.

Gorgeous stained glass, and a joy to visit at any time but especially when the sun is streaming directly through the windows. I wish I understood the stories depicted by the windows, but alas. Even if you’re like me and can’t understand the stories or aren’t religious, this is a beautiful place to pause during the day and take in the sights.

I am not a believer and I often criticise the people who believe in God but I have visited Metz Cathedral twice and my thoughts were the same... God exists. He is the mind of the people who designed this building, He is the arms of the men that built it.

Metz Cathedral is a breathtaking masterpiece, adorned with intricate details that leave one in awe. The sheer grandeur of the structure is awe-inspiring and captures the essence of history. It's unfortunate that the historical information texts are exclusively in French, which might pose challenges for non-French-speaking tourists. Nevertheless, the cathedral's beauty and architectural richness transcend language barriers, offering a mesmerizing experience that speaks to the depths of human creativity and devotion.
Vast, fortified WWII complex with bomb launcher turrets, guns & underground train, for guided tours.
Really interesting fort to visit if you like war history of WW1 and WW2. Guided visit is compulsory. We had the one in French, I saw another group in English. Could get damp and cold in certain areas, dress accordingly. Have to climb a flight of stairs, about 140 steps, comfortable shoes recommended.

This was really my first thing I’ve actually experienced in France. I think it really does show off that France’s Pride and willingness to react to what was perceived as the next war. Really impressive engineering. Multi-lingual (French, English & German) though the German tour got mushed into the English one since there was only 2 Germans to the 5 Americans. Would recommend if you really want to see something that got overlooked but is extremely important to the context of WW2.

This is by far the coolest fort I've ever been to because everything still functions. You get to ride the little train to the still functioning gun turits to see a demonstration of how the guns move into position. Huge underground fort, really cool history. Absolutely amazing experience.
45 meters under the mountain a 3hr long tour of the fortress, connecting bunkers and artillery. With fully functioning 3 story 100 ton turrets.
The old ammunition train has been converted to take passengers and transports you from each section of the fortress.
They have 4 generators that are over 100 years old and still fully functional (they are turned on once a month, we were lucky enough to be there at that time). There is a full authentic museum in the bowels of the labrynth. The size of this place is incredible.
I drove from England to see this fortress and It was certainly worth the journey, what an experience and an eye opener to the brave men who constructed it.
Tours are conducted in language groups so just ensure you are there ready for the English tour to start.
At 15 euros a head you will not find a better deal on the face of this earth I guarantee it.

Yes, the opening times are weird and yes, you'll most likely only going to be able to get a French language guided tour that you won't understand anything of which is a shame. And the tour is very long when you don't understand a word.
But this is still one of the best interwar forts to visit. Wonderfully preserved and maintained with a lot of running equipment. You'll take the original narrow gauge train. See the generator running. The turret mechanism works and is demonstrated. It's fantastic!

One of the biggest still accessible forts of the Maginot Line and only one with still working machinery. Lots of original material present. You walk past different sections and are escorted by a well informed guide. Fun aspect...you get to ride an electric train to go from one block to the next and back. Tour is only twice a day and takes 2,5 hours. In the morning the tour is in French only. Afternoon English and German sometimes also possible. There is a toilet on the site. The resto is only open for a few hours in the afternoon. You can also walk around parts of the complex above ground via a set route.

A very interesting and educational experience. Mostly well preserved 3-km-big underground WW2 fortress complex. You get to ride a train on the guided tour, which is in French and on demand also in English or German. The main gun still works and it's fun to see it move.
The Zoo d'Amnéville is an independent animal park showcasing approximately 2,000 species from five different continents. Along with their animal exhibits, the zoo offers a distinctive medieval-style falconry show. Their Facebook page provides visitors with up-to-date information and photographs of their animals, as well as discussing general animal news. In close proximity to the zoo are 72 hotels and other accommodations that can be booked through Hotels.com for as low as /night.
We had a wonderful visit to Zoo d'Amnevelle. The zoo is stroller friendly and my toddler only needed a little help seeing into some of the exhibits. We watched the sea lion and the falcon show and both were amazing. Throughout the zoo, there are plenty of kiosks for food. The prices were a little steep, but not unreasonable for zoo food. We were able to see almost all of the animals. There were only a handful of exhibits where the animals were either hiding or currently not in there. We will be back for sure, we spent 7 hours at the zoo and felt like we barely scratched the surfaces on what we could see.

An older facility, but very well maintained! The place is very large with an abundance of trees of all kinds. You could almost say you are walking within a forest! Start early in order to see everything and to catch all the shows, and I suggest at 10am when it opens (closes at 5 I think). There are 3 shows not to be missed, the holographic, the seals and the birds, and these i put in order from good to better to best. You do NOT want to miss the bird show! Get there early though to get.a spot in the shade, otherwise you will burn! You also have to follow the map religiously in order to see all the animals, because the paths can confuse you a bit. There are 3 locations throughout the park where you can eat either burgers or snacks. If you eat the burgers just remember that the French cook them medium to rare, so if you like them more well done, you need to ask for it. There is plenty of parking, its free and its very close to the entrance of the park. Don't expect good souvenirs from the gift shop though, that was the only let down. All in all its a great place to visit with the kids, just plan on using the whole day!!

A super bird show showing of both beauty and skil of the participating birds as well as the skill of their handles.
Collection of large cats and some of the smaller ones, nicely done savannah, and must see bear enclosures, one of a wolverine living together with a brown bear.
A bit on the pricy side @ €33,- / adult, but with free parking and afordable hotel near.

A zoo worth travelling to! I was surprised with how large the zoo was and how many animals there were to see. The zoo is designed beautifully and creates a very enjoyable environment. The animals also look very well looked after and energetic. I have visited many zoos where the animals are usually quite lethargic but the animals here certainly had personality! Thoroughly entertaining! One negative is that in the cafe area the ground was very active for mice.

There is a very large free car park near the zoo, well organized. The zoo itself has a wonderful selection of animals to admire. We feel that a lot of emphasis is placed on the animals living in as realistic an environment as possible. The animals and the enclosures appear well cared for. The large number of species delights young and old. There is also a petting zoo and a playground for the kids. Tip: Take a picnic with you. The food could really improved and it's from our point of view overpriced.

Once my favorite zoo in France, then the old management did some "dumb" stuff and the zoo fell into decline. Under new management now it's clearly coming back from that brink, there some way to go, but it's a great day for the family and their new projects look amazing like they used to be. Very hopeful for the future.

This is a MUST SEE in my opinion. Such an awesome experience. The reason I give it 4 stars is that for many reasons, the visit isn’t intuitive, at least for English-only speaking guests. Google maps wanted to bring me right to the tower, and parking was not where it was supposed to be according to the map. That said, it wasn’t a far walk so it seemed right anyway, though there weren’t many spots and the one we got was a tight fit. Bathrooms were at the parking lot which was great, and clean, but after that, signage was terrible. You have to access the ramp up to the treetop wall at a very specific point which is in the center of the glass buildings. The other trails go to various other attractions I suppose, such as the playground at the exit for the treetop walk. If you buy your tickets online, you do NOT have to wait online, you just go up to the barcode scanner and hold your phone under the scanner and it will read it, even if it looks like it won’t. The actual walk itself was so fun, with lots of interesting things to look at along the way, and the view from the top was amazing, if it was a bit crowded up there. The playground was well worth the $20 for the family. Bring food and snacks unless you want to use vending machines. I saw people with beer too if you feel so inclined to BYOB! Everything was stroller friendly.

The view is just beautiful. Park around is very nice too. The entrance of the tower is paid (12,5 euros for adults), but you don't have to pay to visit park. There are two paid parkings. It's quite windy upstairs, be aware of that :)
The vaulted, fortress-style Trier Cathedral in Germany combines elements of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture and art. As the country's oldest bishops church with a rich 1,700-year history, it showcases an eclectic mix of these architectural styles. Inside the cathedral, visitors can marvel at notable religious relics and a diverse collection of artwork spanning from late antiquity to the 20th century. The treasury houses medieval manuscripts and liturgical garments as well.
Probably one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. Absolutely splendid.
Tip: in the right aisle there are very helpful paper guides in many languages that cost 0.50€ of charge.

Deceiving from the outside, stunning from the inside!
It doesn't look as impressive as other cathedrals from the outside (at least to me as I am more used to seeing Gothic style cathedrals, not Romanesque) due to its bare brick facade, however the real beauty is hidden inside.
Right at the entrance, visitors can find a huge map with explanatory points on what is to see or grab a paper brochure for a symbolic price 0.5€ providing the same information. The cathedral inside is massive, spacious, airy and very light thanks to its stunning windows (I fell in love with these simple yet unique windows) with a modern twist that lets the sun beam directly hit the cathedral's rich decorations.
There are a lot of things to explore. Apart from admiring the architecture of the cathedral itself, there is a beautiful stucco ceiling in the west choir along with rich wood inlay. The giant organs hanging from the ceiling in the main nave was a surprise to me and visiting the altar area displaying the Holy Robe remains was just the icing on the cake. From there the whole beauty of the cathedral can be seen. It truly is a stunning piece of Romanesque architecture and its grandiose size does not cease to amaze me.
A gift shop is located right behind the altar and that is also the place from where visitors can enter the cathedrals treasury - a single room full of relics and objects - one of the richest in Germany. The entrance fee is 1.5€ and I think it's worth it. Another place that is not to be missed is the cloister - a beautiful green oasis between the cathedral and church that is accessible to the public and visitors can freely walk around. The cloister can be entered directly from the cathedral.
Restaurants and cafes are in the close proximity of the cathedral and from surrounding areas visitors are rewarded with the best views.

Wow, that's one heck of a cathedral. It's the opposite of Cologne cathedral, that I'm more used to. Light and airy, the marble ceiling subtended by wooden carved panels comes out of nowhere. Can't recommend this enough in the sun.
Make sure you take a walk into the courtyard, and the Basilica next door for the remarkably intense stained glass windows.

A magnificent Romanesque cathedral that has stood at the heart of Trier since Roman times.
The core of the church dates back to Roman times, but the current structure has been rebuilt and restored many times. It holds a famous relic, said to be the tunic of Christ on his crucifixion and this was a major place of pilgrimage in medieval times. The carvings within the church, and the organs on the walls are most impressive to see. There are crypts beneath the cathedral, but they do not hold much of historical importance.

Fantastic place, vast, elaborate so much history, really impressed and free to enter.
Small amounts of the original plaster with frescos and painted patterns hidden on some of the pillars. Look for them.
Imagine how the interior must of looked when it was all painted inside like that.
I think the 'robe' of Jesus was just another medieval con, so many of these fake items circulated then to bring in the paying pilgrims.
This building was seriously damaged in 1944 bombings.
The restoration work had been an amazing project.

The Trier Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral and the oldest church in Germany. The construction of this structure is said to have started in the 4th century on land that had ancient Roman structures. Its grand design and massive structure are worth admiring. The Porta Nigra, an ancient Roman city gate in Trier dating back to 180 AD, is a well-preserved and significant historical site. Constructed with heavy stone slabs, it serves as the northern entrance to the city and stands as the only surviving gate among four. Originally part of a fortified wall surrounding the Roman city, it now holds UNESCO World Heritage status. In the 11th century, it was converted into a church dedicated to St. Simeon.
A Canadian Tourist Review: A ticket to go inside Porta Nigra is 4 Euros. This is the most iconic attraction in Trier. There is some cool architecture inside but I wouldn't say it is essential to go up to the top. The view is mainly just for the ground directly below. I think you can appreciate it just as much from the outside. It is a very cool piece of Roman architecture and well worth the visit!

Beautiful piece of history. We did this with our three kids ages 5,3,1 years and they loved it even after having gone to the Roman bath ruins. The older two were able to walk the whole thing and I wore the baby. Lots of places for photos, not too crowded on the May weekend we went. There are many dining options right outside the building with lots of vendors and shopping. Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful area with lots of shops and places to eat. A stunning cathedral is just off the main courtyard. Worth the visit and recommend others to see the sights here.

A must if visiting Trier. Visited in mid-April. Allow about 90 minutes to do it justice. Four flights of (spiral) stairs, so if you are unsure on your feet think twice. Information boards have several languages on them, and the multilingual guide (avail via their intranet and your phone) really brings it to life and explains how it originally looked, and how it has survived over the years.
We parked out of town and walked in. I imagine this gets very busy during the summer.
Lots of ticket options available. Also, this is right next to the Tourist Information (very helpful staff).

Beautiful historical structure in the middle of the city
Entry fee is €4 per adult and pets are not allowed. You can ask for an audio guide or an information brochure at the reception
Take lots of pictures

An ancient city gate built in the Roman empire. It’s quite different from the other historical buildings I’ve been in Germany. Even though it’s unique, to be honest, there isn’t much to see inside. The information is a bit hard to access but the ticket is cheap so it’s definitely worth checking out if you are in Trier.

Impressive building with an interesting history. From decay to a pilgrim place to a double stacked church. This was then ordered to be demolished by Napoleon? And somehow a Roman gate survived. The free audio guide on your phone explains it all very well. The inside is interesting, inexpensive and gives a good view over Trier.

Beautiful! A must visit in Trier in my opinion.
There was a violinist playing under the gate area too, which you could hear through the whole building. That really added to the experience and made it feel even more special.

Stunning remains of the northern city gate built by the Romans almost two millennia ago. Distinctive for its dark grey sandstone. For a small fee tourists access the upper levels but the ground level and surroundings remain free to wander.

Just walked around and through. Not sure what the inside is like, but worth just walking around. Fascinating spot right in the city centre. Perfect spot for a picture or to touch some really old rocks. Well kept area when we were there.

This was cool to check out and learn the history of the area. We were able to walk throughout the structure and see the architecture first hand! Worth the drive from Kaiserslautern. The graffiti was obnoxious but some people lack an appreciation for history.

The Porto nigro is huge!! Much bigger than I expected. The platz is an interesting place. Very busy during the day with tourists. I felt a little unsafe wandering around at night but other than that had a great experience.

A large city gate from Roman era approximately 2000 years old. A majestic piece of Roman architecture, although a little stands of what remains now. We did not go inside but it was worth admiring the building while standing there. It is a good entry point to the city of Trier, just 10-12 minutes by walk from the train station. From here you can start your tour. Everything is in the walking distance.

This is one of the doors of the city. We decided to stop by in Trier, while returning from our trip in Luxembourg and Strasburgh. We were not disappointed. Not only the Porta is really nice to see, but the city is as well. A lot of people were here on Sunday and a lot friendly and smiley. We also found a public concert nearby.

An amazing experience to walk under a gate that's been build centuries ago. No mortar used and still standing. The inside is amazing too

Porta Nigra is super fun to visit and explore! Massive from the outside but equally awing while walking around within!!! Views from the city were great. The history of the old Roman entrance to the city is fascinating.

Went very late at night. 10pm. Empty. Free to roam around.beautifully lit. Very eerie. Fabulous building. Obviously if you wanted to go to the museum you would need to go during the day. Warm night. Few youths around but no problem.

It was amusing trip to German from Luxembourg. I had been went their only to see Porta Nigra. I had curious to see inside, ticket price 4 euro, as international student O had to pay 3 euro. I thought I may see many historical handy cruft inside, but it was almost empty! Only with structural building. I will not recommend too much to people to visit this place but to have a relaxation take lunch yes you may go to this area.

We took a tourist train tour here and it was a good way to have an overall view of the city, to then explore by foot by ourselves. It was 10 euros per person, 45 minutes-long. The Porta Nigra itself is impressive, and you can’t miss it when in Trier.

Very nice old place. Entry is 4€ and you can buy the ticket at the entrance, also, climb to the top to take some lovely scenic shots of the Trier city centre. Roman Built and still standing after all these years, it's a proof of quality and resiliance of Roman architecture. Very well maintained and full od historical panels that display the rich history of the place. 10/10 visit.

Very beautiful roman architecture. Entrance fee is 4 € and one can climb in the gate itself. I visited on a Wednesday, there was no line, I was almost alone there, which was very nice. I took a lot of pictures and videos

An extraordinary Roman city gate that is regarded to be the most intact city gate from classical times in the world (due to its incorporation into a church during the Middle Ages preventing its gradual demolition as building material was reused, which was followed by demolition of the church during Napoleon times to restore the city gate in its Roman appearance). Admission 4€, the roof level was closed for renovation, 3 other levels were accessible. One of the best Roman structures I have ever seen, especially in northwestern Europe.

A beautiful place, I recommend walking around the city and visiting other historical objects.
Immersive & interactive exhibits depict a 1916 battle in this comprehensive museum.
Unfortunately I did not get to visit the museum on this occasion
Even though I have rated the museum as 5 stars..
It certainly looks impressive from the outside
But did get to wonder the surrounding grounds.
Which is worth a visit on its own..
So happy to share my pictures..

A very well-designed memorial and display about the horrors of WWI.
The memorial is highly informative and illustrative, and richly equipped with all sorts of artefacts. Absolutely worth a visit.

I definitelly expected more of this memorial. It feels just as a collection of medals and uniforms. Half of it was closed today, but the price remained the same.

This is a spectacular memorial to the events that took place in Verdun and WWI. I wish we had more time to look at everything, but we arrived later in the afternoon. I would recommend 1.5-2hrs to take it all in. It definitely will hit hard if you are able to watch the videos and walk above and on the “muddy” ground. So many lives lost during this conflict. Don’t miss this location, it will change you.

Powerfully moving museum, with excellent exhibits that can really take you back to the battle. The staff were all so kind and helpful as well. Worth the stop!!
Cynthia Knight — Google review
A tiny bit underwhelming but still worth a look. Not much big steel, if that’s what you are looking for. This is more of an experiential and story telling type war museum. There were some compelling videos that really showed the immense difficulties faced by soldiers. Clean bathrooms and a small but decent little cafe area to fill your stomach if you wish.

Wonderful visit of the museum. It starts with an animated map of the war, it's context on a European scale. The visitor can then start the visit focusing on Verdun and it's surroundings. The whole visit mixes interactive elements, hyper realistic sets, many objects, testimonies. The visit is moving, rich.. Every person should visit the memorial to feel how important it is to leave in peace. How lucky we are to leave in peace, in Europe.

This memorial is very complete and can take a long time to visit if one wants to linger.
It is modern and the exhibits very easily accessible.
The place is very playful and interactive, very instructive with various reconstructions very well done. Headphones, interactive videos, QRcodes,… Really great ! 🤩
Only small downside the direction of traffic a little blurry in places which forces you to go back several times.
Virtual reality experience also available before the temporary exhibition.
Small bookstore with a few souvenirs and cafeteria space.
Chloé Trevisanut — Google review
The original museum was great, so when it was re done I was very worried. However there was no need. The new museum is excellent and well explained and with many individual soldiers contributions, with the likes of Charles Delvert as pictured. The only downside is where have the LiDAR maps gone of the Verdun battlefield?
Alexandre Lyons — Google review
Fabulous museum. Information is available in English as well as French and German and is presented visually, auditorially and tactilely. I learned so much about how important the Battle of Verdun was to the French with 75% of the WWI French soldiers participating. The beginning of avaition warfare which occurred in Verdun is explained. The destruction of the constant shelling can still be seen in the landscape. Do visit the Forts of Douaumont and Vaux and the remnants of the destroyed town of Fleury. More than 100 years later the scars of war are highly visible. Go spend the day!

Luxembourg American Cemetery is a small but well-maintained military cemetery in eastern Luxembourg near the airport. It contains the remains of 5075 US servicemen who died during World War II, including General George Patton, who played a key role in Luxembourg's 1944 liberation from Nazi occupation. The care that Allied forces have taken to maintain this hallowed ground is truly amazing.
This place is such a humbling place to visit and the care that our Allie’s from Luxembourg provide to this hallowed ground is simply amazing. This place is elegant, well maintained and truly honors those that gave their lives during WWII. It is a must see location if near the area. Famous American General George Patton is buried here as well.

As a former US Soldier, this was a must stop. The grounds are kept up beautifully. Free parking with plenty of space. It started snowing as we arrived so we made our way into the visitor center before heading to the memorial. Staff are friendly and well informed. I highly recommend this stop as a reminder of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Not enough Stars for this! How humbling and thought provoking to walk this memorial ground! Price paid by these young men is emotionally stirring. Can’t begin to express appreciation! In these photos of my visit I found representation from each state that was at that time. A heartwarming reminder that our great Country will represent and stand! Hope we remember ultimately the Liberties and freedoms we all enjoy were once again sustained and will always be. United we stand!

This is a beautiful cemetery by the airport I'd recommend for anyone interested in world war history. You'll find Patton's grave and five paratroopers from the 'Band of Brothers' here. It was moving to be here in the winter - the same timeframe many died in the Battle of the Bulge. It's accessible by bus if you're staying in central Luxembourg, but be aware that it's about a 15-20 minute walk (see pic) from the stop to the site. Be sure to stop in the office when you enter as well as they have many details about the cemetery.
Matt Reed — Google review
We have visited the Cemetery with our children and had the most unwelcomed feeling. Firstly we were told that the children should not run around which I completely understand and accept but then the guard followed us all the way through like we were criminals. He didn't follow other visitors (which were very few). I have to add that the children were very well behaved all the way through. I believe the children should see and be told about our history from a young age on otherwise how will they learn? Besides this, the Cemetery is a glorious place of memory, very well maintained and curated.

I was impressed by the size of the cemetery. So many have died for our freedom. In the visitors center you can search names, get a booklet and sign the guestbook. Across the visitors center is a restroom which you can use for free.
At this cemetery is the grave of General Patton. His grave faces the graves of the other soldiers.
Lest we forget.

Visited General Patton's grave at Luxembourg American Cemetery in November 2023. Information regarding World War II is provided; you do not need to be an expert to appreciate this stop/visit. Parking is free and close to entrance. Would highly recommend visiting if given the opportunity.

We enjoyed our trip to the Luxembourg American Cemetery. It is a beautiful site, fit for our soldiers to rest. The well maintained property is peaceful and well cared for. We stopped in the visitor center first. They had multiple language brochures in a small but quaint well done prevention highlighting some of the individuals who are laid to rest on site.
We spent an hour here, if the weather had been better, we would have stayed two hours to walk around some more. The cemetery slopes down, so remember you are climbing out of where ever you end up.
We took public transportation to get there. We took the tram from the train station to Luxepo and then found the shuttle to the cemetery. That was the trickiest part. They drive a smaller van and leave on the hour. There isn't a sign and it's not on the screen, you need to go look for it and they come back about 30 minutes into the, go away and come back again. That's how we found them. It was a short comfortable drive and the van picked us up when they dropped on the hour about 5 minutes after.

We visited on a cloudy, cool, and breezy day. Perhaps, that made the experience more solemn. I was moved by the sight of the memorials and fields of grace markers, Crosses and Stars of David. It's a beautiful sight.

A great place to visit and be thankful for our freedom. This cemetery holds over 5000 American soldiers. Most died in WWII during the battle of the bulge. It also holds General Patton. He did not die at war but rather a car accident.
So many here that never made it home to the USA after the war yet they fought for the freedom we have every day. Thank you to all that serve.

The Bock Casemates are an extensive network of underground tunnels and galleries that were constructed in 1644 as a part of the Fortress of Luxembourg. The fortress was built on the Bock promontory, which was chosen for its strategic location offering natural protection. Over the centuries, it was reinforced and attacked multiple times, and at its peak time showcased numerous forts across three fortified rings.
really cool and beautiful historic sight! i’m not big into walking but i really loved climbing and seeing everything. unfortunately the tours are closed unless you visit in the summer but i would absolutely come back to see inside. highly recommend and a must see even if you’re spending a short time in luxembourg! 🏰

It is a neat place to explore. If you have children, they will really enjoy the tunnels and it is pretty safe as well. The entrance says 45 minute time limit, but not sure how it is enforced. However, that much time is enough to see it all though.
You don’t really need to buy tickets in advance if you go midweek.

The Mother Nature give them advantages to have such a rocky place and situated exactly in the Center of the city. If you are a tourist and do not have a guide and plus you don’t speak French then it will be difficult to room around and find the spots you are looking for.
The city doesn’t offer free internet or there are some spots but very low signal so you have to have your own internet. There are less signs showing ways how to access the Touristik spots , so make sure to really pre plan all the steps of your trip on your own

Fun stop with lots of history! Sold out online for days, but tickets were available for an entrance in an hour. Busy, but they do a good job of keeping the casements not overly busy. Don't miss the side route near the exit that goes under the road. Spiral stairs carved into the rock to the left of the steps up to the exit. It is a lot of steps...you've been warned! Down and then back up.

Very beautiful and unusual. Be sure to visit the casemates, but do not go down the spiral stone staircase if you have poor physical fitness 😁. Luxembourg's old quarters and fortifications. The city itself was founded in 963 and has played a significant role in European history throughout the centuries.

The place can be reached easily from Luxembourg station, it will drop you to the exact location, where you can easily roam around by foot & explore, click pictures etc. It has an ancient setup with information which you can read and understand. I believe you will need approx 2 to 3 hours to cover upstairs, downstairs and around if you want to cover completely and not rush but relax. When we went there the weather was a bit foggy and cold plus we had to catch our bus for Saarland within 2 hours so we rushed and did not cover full location. But I still enjoyed. Since it was November month, there were Christmas market also which all families were enjoying. Overall beautiful place with no public transport cost so worth visiting.

I want to say that I live for 3 years in Luxembourg and only by mistake I discovered that we can visit the galleries.❤️🥰👏 The entrance is actually hidden underneath the little tower from Montee du Clausen (Casemates Memorial Point).
The experience was quite unique. The galeries are layered (I think) on two levels. The views over the city are special and magnificent (although in my case it was raining 🌧), because the viewpoints are unique🏞🏤. I loved also the light 💡efects inside the casemates. They give a special (modern and old) touch to the visit. You can also see these light efects 🪩 from Grund during the night 🌌.
The only thing that confused me a little bit was the fact that there were no signs ↗️(or a map) 🗺 to show the direction ➡️ of the visit, so I got a little bit lost 😆😁. There were galleries that i've seen twice. I estimate that, the duration of the visit 🕑 can vary between 30-45 minutes.
For me, the casemates are special and unique. I would love to see them again without any hesitation. ❤️🥰🤩

Great historical place. It's a must visit in Luxembourg. It is a huge underground complex built in 1644 and was used as a bomb shelter during WWII. It's huge and amazing. Lots of beautiful viewpoints. You need a minimum of an hour to explore the place. There is one section that is not mentioned in the booklet, it can be accessed through the stairs from the iron gate room. This section was really impressive and showed the depth of it. Going through each section and understanding the history behind it was fascinating. I recommend buying tickets in advance. Tickets can be bought at the ticket counter as well but they either sell out soon or you have to wait for your time slot. Another thing is it's a bit difficult to locate the entrance/ticket counter. Do carry a water bottle.
The Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg is a beautiful Gothic cathedral that was built between 1613 and 1621. It features ornate columns and stained glass from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as Neo-Gothic confessionals. This cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Luxembourg City.

The position on Google seems wrong as the Cathedral is right behind "Le Ministère de la digitalisation"
Follow the signage on the street instead of Google and you will find it.
Opening schedule seems also wrong on Google as it's open on Sunday (from 10am to 7pm if I am correct) while Google mentioned otherwise.
If you aim to visit the Crypt, please note that schedules are slightly different than the cathedral.
Aim for mid day and you should be fine

Well, maybe when someone important gets married, baptized, or dies. I make it a point to stop by to light a candle for loved ones when I’m in the city. It’s certainly a place to visit if you want to cool down from the heat and don’t want to sit at a cafe feeling more warm and several euros poorer. The cathedral is big but not decorated as much as similar ones in other cities. The altar is simple and the glazed painted windows attracts your eye. Vianden Castle is a hilltop fortress that was erected between the 11th and 14th centuries. It presently houses exhibits on medieval history. Its unique design is the result of extensive restoration efforts in the 20th century, following its complete destruction. Visitors can explore different historical periods, from Roman times to the present day, through walkways on lower levels. The open-air Byzantine Hall and Gothic polygonal chapel with a central well are notable features of this castle.
Nice place for a one day trip. You can easily get there by car and park for free in front of the castle or park in the town near the river and get there by the lift. It costs 7.50€ for both ways and 5 for a one way ticket. The castle is easily manageable for 1 hour and one can get an audio guide for a low price.

Petting the castle’s chickens absolutely made my day. The chickens are so calm and friendly. The castle is interesting and we were all done within 2 hours. The cafe has a selection of pastries, drinks, and soup. We had soup, ice cream and eclair. There is a free toilet at the entrance and a bigger free restroom upstairs in the castle. There was plenty of parking when we arrived at 10am on a Saturday. It filled up when we left around 12:30pm. It costs 1€/hour and you walk strenuously uphill about 5 minutes to get to the castle. Card is accepted at the kiosk farther back in the parking lot. Press the white button on the kiosk for how many hours you want (press multiple times for more hours), then press the green button, and then hold your card up to pay. It was tricky to use.

The castle has a rich history dating back over a thousand years and showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. It's one of the largest and most well-preserved castles in Luxembourg, attracting visitors from around the world to explore its impressive battlements, towers, and inner courtyards.

Absolutely amazing! The audio guide is really well done. Unluckily there were somme signs that were written exclusively on German. Despite this, the castle deserves the 5 stars. Pretty well conserved and nicely put together so everyone can understand the history.

A well preserved castle. Good views and well maintained.
What i did not like, the audio guide was not loud enough in hallways, - app would have been a wiser choice
If you have a stroller, be sure you get well trained in you gym before the visit.
Many interesting parts were barricaded, and no one could access.
The view from far away - outside was stunning.

Beautiful Castle at the top of Vianden. €10,- per person entrance fee. The outside of the castle is more beautiful than the inside. A lot of text signs and not really interactive. We heard a lot of people saying it was all old stuff and not really interesting.

So super impressed by this place. The castle itself has been lovingly restored, the market stalls and the entertainment were an unexpected surprise. The most impressive was the info centre beside the castle, this was awesome and presented the history concisely and engaging. Highly recommend if in the area, or make a trip from the city

Very nice presentation of the castle's history in the visitor centre. The castle is worth a visit. Fully furnished with original pieces, beautiful views. Just prepare for walking a lot to the hill.

This is a must see in every trip to Luxembourg. The castle is in great condition and it has great infrastructure. Unlike Larochette, you must pay for parking (it was 2 euros for 3 hours) and visit to the castle (10 euros per adult). It was worth it! The visit took around an hour and we had a snack in the castle’s restaurant. The prices there was fair and the food was delicious. Every room of the castle is worth visiting. Even the tavern can be visited. Great visit through and through.

An amazing castle to visit in Luxembourg. We visited in February, so overcast and a little rainy but that did not stop the enjoyment. Highly recommended if you are in the area!!

This is a beautiful castle steeped in history. It's a peaceful place offering gorgeous views of the local countryside.
There is a cafe, toilets and parking onsite.
Lots of steps inside, so not ideal for the less mobile, wheelchair or pushchair users.

Nice castle located in a small beautiful village. Entry cost is 10 euros per person. You can spend around 2 3 hours here exploring the castle. Parking spaces are available in the road side. Good place to have a nice evening.

Such a great audio guide and clearly marked tour. Everything was set up so well, and it was visually stunning. The visitors center was like an additional museum, with so much more information about the castle and its place in the world. It didn't feel huge, but we spent three hours here. The cafeteria is nice, too. Definitely worth the trip.

Well worth a visit. Beautiful location and views. Brilliant audio guide tour. Cafe and gift shop open to those interested. Can walk up to chairlifts and get lift up or down to main town. Highly recommend

Visiting the castle in Vianden was an unforgettable experience for me. The castle is one of the most beautiful and largest monuments of Romanesque-Gothic architecture in Europe. It was built on the site of a former Roman watchtower, and for centuries was the seat of the Dukes of Vianden and the Nassau family. The castle has many interesting halls and rooms that can be explored on your own or with an audio guide. I admired, among others a Byzantine gallery, a banquet hall with tapestries, a bedroom and a banquet room with a fireplace. On the information boards you can learn many interesting facts about the history of the castle and its inhabitants. The castle was restored in the 1970s and is now open to the public.
Visiting the castle was not only a history lesson, but also an opportunity to admire the beautiful views of the town of Vianden and the Our River valley. From the castle terrace you can see picturesque landscapes, charming houses and the church of St. Trinity. You can also use the cable car that connects the castle with the city centre. It's a great way to see the area from a different perspective.
Vianden Castle is a place I recommend to anyone who likes history, architecture and beautiful nature. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours or the whole day. I am very pleased with my visit and will definitely return.

We spent about 3 hours exploring the castle/palace, taking photos, soaking up the history, reading all interpretive signs and watching the fabulous movie.
We thought it was very considerate of the planners to put toilets on opposite ends of the tour! This tourist attraction was our destination today and we were so glad we added it to our itinerary.

How amazing it is to be able to relive the history of this palace.
The castle is about 1 hour by car from Luxembourg city.
The tickets are 10 euros for adults and 2 euros for an audio guide. Since the guide ( handheld , not an earphone / headphone ) can be heard , 2-3 people can share 1.
There was no wait. The audio was very detailed and it was lovely to share the fragments of historical essence as we walked past each room. The large kitchen was my favorite as well as the banquet hall.
I was completely mesmerized by the sheer grandeur of the bedroom, banquet hall and the history behind the Vianden Castle.
We are so glad that we decided to make this decision to go and visit this. Absolutely a must visit 🙂

Beautiful castle on hill top. The bus stops on the bottom of the hill so there is a 10-15 min walk up with some nice cafes along the way. The visit is €10 and you must get an audio guide to enjoy the visit, which lasts around 1 hour. Bring headphones so you can listen to the audioguide on your phone.

This castle is located in a small town. Not many people in the castle and the town.
It was a good experience for us.
We travelled from Luxembourg by public transport and took us almost 3.5 hours to reach the castle.
I suggest going by car and saving your travel time.
We found vegetarian food as well.
Travelling to the castle was worth the experience.
Tickets we directly purchased from the castle.
The last thing public transport is free. We didn't pay anything from Luxembourg to Vianden town.

When visiting Luxembourg this castle is a treat to the eyes.It is located on a hill top so it’s really beautiful in summers. You have to travel 2 hours from main station by train to reach this castle.Chairlift car can be taken from the town below and you can enjoy the valley view from this chairlift.

Nicely restored castle with a good quality audio guide available in a number of languages. The castle and the nearby chairlift are included with the Luxembourg card which is worth purchasing of you are visiting a number of sites on the same day.

Amazing hidden gem in Luxembourg.
If you are interested in history this is must visit place.
The castle is located approx 1 hour from the Luxembourg city. But worth the drive. You will encounter amazing scenes on the way. They have a parking available, but it is limited. You can get an audio guide for yourself in the language you prefer .castle is not very big in itself. But still it will take one hour for you to visit completely. They have a cafeteria in the beginning in case you are hungry. The staff is very helpful if you need anything. there are explanations everywhere so if you want, you don’t need to buy an audio guide

Wow, what a blast from the past! Our last visit here was way back in 2014, and it's crazy how my oldest son still remembers every detail from when he was just 3,5 years old. This castle is like the VIP spot for tourists in Luxembourg, and it's easy to see why.
The ticket prices won't break the bank either: €10 for adults, €2.5 for kids, and €5 for students with a valid student card.
They've got these handy information devices at the counter, and you can choose your language preference, so you won't miss a beat. We opted for the Scan Me app, scanning barcodes at each site for all the juicy details. Saved me from trying to recall everything back at the hotel. You know how it is with kids at museums, patience is definitely not their strong suit 😂.
Walking through history here is a real treat, especially witnessing the castle's evolution over the centuries, from the 11th to the 14th. No wonder it's earned its spot as one of CNN's 21 most beautiful castles in the world.
But let's talk about the real MVP: the cafeteria. Don't leave without trying their signature soup, Bouneschlupp. It's a hearty green bean soup with potatoes and onions (they even do a mean vegetarian version).
Don't miss out on the souvenir area either, because what's a trip without some cheesy memorabilia, am I right?
Pro tip: Take some time to wander the charming village of Vianden surrounding the castle, those picturesque houses are Instagram-worthy 😉.

Visiting from Florida and wasn’t disappointed by the castle. The views were amazing, the size was awesome and the interior was pretty cool to see. Worth the trip from Kaiserslautern. Parking can be difficult on the weekends.

Very cool complex from the Maginot line, received a very good explanation about all that has happened there during the first days of the war when the Germans arrived there from Belgium.

Very interesting. The tour guide was knowledgeable and his english quite good. The site was a little creepy. The picture is of the tunnel where all the men in the garrison perished from carbon monoxide poisoning, 105 men.

Michael Peeters — Google review
An amazing part of the Maginot line where the defenders held till their last. We stumbled upon driving from bouillon to stennay and what a find it was. The cemetery which contains the defenders is across the road from the memorial adjoined to the Fort.
Andy Cambridge — Google review
What an amazing place! Highly recommend this to anyone interested in World War 2. . As one of the western-most placements of the Maginot Line in France, the story of how all the men perished here is as heartbreaking as any other war story. There is a very long, strenuous stair case to go down (and then UP), but take your time, it is all part of the story of this place. We had not booked ahead, but a young staff member gave us a two hour tour and since we were a small family group of English speakers, he used English and was superb! One of the only places where you can touch and feel remnants of the War. If travelling through this part of France, make a detour to this site, it is worth every bit of time.
Susan Carbonaro — Google review
Interesting place to see if you are passionate about the war. As you can see in the pictures, the holes from the bullets and artillery are still there and it makes you understand the horrors and atmosphere of the battle.

Magnificent please with a nice guide.
The story which unfolded there is very sad 😢
Nick Wolsink — Google review
A sad place as with all war cemeteries. Such a lot all died on the same day, overcome by fumes in tunnels they had spent 3 years building. Need to book the tours they do to the underground passages to enjoy the place. They only do them for pre booked groups.
Keith Daniel — Google review
Great place to learn about the European history.

This is an amazing place to visit. Anyone remotely interested in military history would really enjoy a visit here. Apart from a very well preserved Maginot line fort, there’s also a story attached. Regrettably, there was not a good outcome for the soldiers who served here. You will have to visit to find out the full story.
The cost is a very reasonable €8 per adult and the tour is guided. They do tours in English but only for groups. We went with a French – speaking guide and were given some information sheets in English to take on the tour. These were sufficient to get a good appreciation of the fort.
The engineering and ingenuity in designing and building these forts is incredible considering the most are around 100 years old.
If you visit and like this fort, be sure to visit the bigger ones a little further south. In particular, Hackenberg and Schoenenbourg.

Guide only in french, but the nice guy also explained some in person in english. Big thanks. Very tragic history.
Located in Bastogne, the Mardasson Memorial is a striking tribute to American soldiers who were injured or lost their lives during the Battle of the Bulge. Designed by architect Georges Dedoyard, this imposing structure takes the form of a 12-meter tall five-pointed American star with points extending 31 meters and a central atrium measuring 20 meters in diameter. The memorial offers fantastic panoramic views of the battle areas and features informative maps detailing the movements of German and Allied forces.
The Mardasson Memorial in Bastogne is a deeply moving tribute to the heroes of World War II. Standing atop a hill, the monument's grandeur and symbolism are awe-inspiring. The museum exhibits offer a comprehensive and emotional journey through the Battle of the Bulge. The memorial's serene surroundings and panoramic views make it a place for reflection and remembrance. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking to honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.

Two years ago they were busy with the restoration, and now it's complete (although we couldn't discover where they restored it). Overall it is worth a visit when you are visiting the museum or if you are visiting Bastogne.
It is a large monument to commemorate the Second World War.

Amazing place. But we didn't enjoyed it much because of rekonstrukcion.
The Bastogne War Museum is a contemporary museum that offers an interactive experience focused on WWII and specifically the Battle of the Bulge. The audio guide features four different voices from civilian and military witnesses/participants, while an informative summary presents the war's context and key stages. The museum also boasts a 15-minute 3D film that provides a unique perspective on Germany's early attacks.
A historic place that if you are in or near Bastogne you will want to take the time to visit. The museum is under a renovation period so checkout the website to ensure you will be able to visit the museum. You can reflect on those who gave all and honor their memory.

After encountering so many world war 2 monuments within Luxembourg I wanted to know more about what exactly happened here during world war 2. And this museum came highly recommended, it didn't disappoint not one bit. It left me cold with goose bumps about the stories that where told through an audio headpiece. And through the myriad of infographics pictures etc.

Visiting the Bastogne War Museum was an incredibly moving and enlightening experience that left an indelible mark on my understanding of World War II. From the moment I stepped into the museum, I was immersed in a meticulously curated journey through history.
The exhibits are a testament to the museum's dedication to accuracy and detail. The multimedia presentations and interactive displays provided a deep insight into the challenges faced during the Battle of the Bulge. The use of cutting-edge technology, combined with authentic artifacts, created a powerful and evocative narrative that transported me back to that pivotal moment in time.
The layout of the museum is both engaging and thoughtfully designed, guiding visitors through the various stages of the battle. The personal stories of soldiers and civilians, shared through letters, photographs, and firsthand accounts, added a human dimension to the historical events, making them resonate on a profoundly emotional level.
The Bastogne War Museum also pays tribute to the sacrifices made by those who fought and the civilians affected by the conflict. The memorial space is a solemn and respectful area, allowing visitors to reflect on the gravity of the historical events and the enduring impact on the lives of those involved.
The museum staff demonstrated a genuine passion for their work, offering valuable insights and assistance throughout my visit. Their commitment to preserving and sharing this important history was evident in every aspect of the museum.
In conclusion, the Bastogne War Museum is not just a museum; it's a living testament to the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of those who lived through the Battle of the Bulge. It is a must-visit for anyone seeking a profound and educational experience that transcends the pages of history books.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful museums ever visited. Actually it's not only a museum, it's the history lived and described by four different people who lived those troubled times: a US soldier, a German officer, a young teacher from Bastogne and a child from Bastogne. A very, very touching experience, especially for someone who's grandfather fought in WWII. Many thanks to the organizers and management of the museum, this is truly an unique and brilliant way to show the history. You deserve 10 stars, not only 5, well done!!

Excellent museum, focusing on the battle of the Bulge. You get a headset at the reception that leads you through the museum and tells the story from four different perspectives. This includes eloborate moving dioramas and many artifacts and vehicles. Tour is available in English, German, French and Dutch and probably more languages. Staff is helpful, and the cafetaria and book shop are nice.

We visited this place on Sunday. The museum is very interesting and engaging. Do not miss out three separate immersive mini-cinema like shows that reflected different periods of the war. And after the main visit, “Generations 45” was a very nice addition to connect the war to our modern day periods. Museum is able to capture both the facts and details of the war in massive scale and how this war affected the lives of simple, ordinary people.

Well done museum. Lots of photos to read about but the audio tour explains the war from the perspective of 4 people: child, school teacher, US soldier and a German soldier. Brings it to life. The Bastogne War Museum is an extraordinary testament to the valor, sacrifice, and resilience of the soldiers and civilians who endured the hardships of World War II. Visiting this museum was an emotionally moving and educational experience.
The museum's design and layout are impeccable, guiding visitors through the chronology of events leading up to the historic Battle of the Bulge. The interactive exhibits, life-sized dioramas, and audio-visual presentations offered a truly immersive experience, making the past come alive. From the onset, I felt a deep sense of respect and admiration for the brave souls who faced unimaginable challenges during the war.
The vast collection of artifacts, personal belongings, and authentic military equipment further enriched the experience. Each item told a unique story, giving a glimpse into the lives of those who fought and the civilians affected by the conflict. I was particularly moved by the personal accounts and letters displayed, which revealed the human side of war.
The highlight of my visit was the recreated underground bunker, where I could almost feel the tension and fear that soldiers experienced during the battle. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the importance of remembering history and its lessons for the future.
The museum staff deserves special praise for their knowledge and dedication. They were friendly, approachable, and eager to answer questions, making the tour even more engaging.
The Bastogne War Museum not only commemorates the sacrifices made during the war but also emphasizes the importance of peace and understanding. As I walked through the grounds, I couldn't help but reflect on the futility of war and the need for global unity.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, a student, or just curious about the past, the Bastogne War Museum is a must-visit destination. It leaves an indelible mark on your heart and mind, and you'll walk away with a renewed appreciation for the peace we enjoy today.
If you find yourself in this part of the world, don't miss the opportunity to pay homage to the heroes of the past and gain a deeper understanding of the events that shaped our world. I will forever cherish the memories and lessons I took away from this extraordinary museum.
